And this is going to both save and destroy Jiang Cheng as he carries this weight alone.#Heartbreaking stuff! Didn't draw it in the comic because I wanted to draw a silly worm on a string!#WWX tried to help JC out of the knot but got stuck in it.#Those worm on a string tricks are harder than they look!#Also; it's been about a year since the last boat joke - but indeed this is the 11th boat of pd-mdzs. I love Latter Pillar so much you don’t understand i adore him have have some headcanons for him

Daisey literally pulls Howdy BY THE ANTENNA and makes him give Latter a hug. They like Latter, he’s sweet. But him being dramatic sometimes gets on their nerves

Daisey and Lizzy do partake in the Latter teasing, but they usually shut it down if it gets to mean (Latter protection squad say what)

Latter and Eddie besties real, Latter reads his poetry in the post office and Eddie just listens while doing his mailman duties

Honey’s mean to him, but secretly like his poetry. He thinks it’s so bad it’s funny

He runs a poetry club, he’s made a few friends from it too :3

Lizzy loves her brother, she really does, but she cannot stand to hear his bad poetry. She send him ads for poetry lessons and he gets sad about it

Also randomly put in but I love those little bee kids (I don’t know their names :,) ) they look so cute I love them

Latter has 6 arms me thinks, idk if that’s confirmed lmao

I’m mentally I’ll and that update destroyed me so I’m focusing on Howdy’s dramatic, flamboyant brother :3

The Howdy's nephews (the cater-bee children <3) are Howdo and Youdo! I can't remember if its one "o" or two tho haha

Lighthearted teasing is fun, and I think if Latter was genuinely friends with whomever he'd go along with it, maybe do improve poetry to tease them back dramatically pff

Bc Latter and Eddie besties Is real and in your home <3 They could write each other letters when it's not the holidays and Latter send Eddie his poetry for approval bc Eddie is too nice to say it's bad <3 (cough Latter getting a crush on Eddie? whaaaatt cough)

Some Quick Thoughts on How I Think the DHMIS Teachers Would Interact

Warren would 100% get inducted into Shrignold’s cult. Cults target people who feel isolated, so Warren “restaurant-style meal” Eagle would be super susceptible to love bombing. (Shrignold could also just tell him he’s a not an eagle but is instead a caterpillar that will get wings one day if he wanted to speedrun things)

If the coffin learned that the food group managed to kill Duck permanently he would be like “that’s great! well done!” as cheerfully as possible while dousing himself in gasoline and lighting a match

The train teacher and the lamp would go out drinking together

Electracey and Colin would vibe; they’re both electronics, and Colin has the whole “digital world” thing while Electracey wants everything to be a part of the electrical family

Tony and the coffin would get along because “eventually everyone runs out of time”. also they both wear dumb shoes

Sketchbook and Electracey are both upbeat and less aggressive; they would totally get along and Sketchbook would appreciate Electracey’s creative teeth colors

They wouldn’t get along but Shrignold needs a lesson from the boundaries teacher

Sketchbook and the coffin would probably get along due to being mild-mannered passive-aggressive teachers that are absolutely terrified of the trio

Considering what they do to the apple teacher Lily and Todney would totally bite off Bread Boy’s face if given the chance, and possibly try to kidnap and/or eat the rest of the foodgroup as well

The lamp from the TV show would share conspiracy theories about the council with Shrignold, who would be too busy telling him about the glory of Malcolm to listen

The briefcase and Tony wouldn’t get along because the briefcase would do his “look at the time I better be off” schtick, thus prompting Tony to kidnap him and teach him about time for 20 minutes

wait so why is Appalachian folklore important to your character? are they really involved with storytelling are there appalachian monsters you want to involve or something else?

AUTISM ACTIVATION 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO

Okay so basically, the entire campaign takes place within the Appalachian region, specifically a small town in West Virginia. This entire region has an incredibly complex history that is often overlooked by outsiders who set stories there. I'm a huge believer in doing research for storytelling, especially when it comes to regions/places/cultures/people that you're not familiar with. Appalachia in particular has often been the victim of what one author referred to as "cultural strip mining," where interesting aspects of the culture are isolated by outsiders who then market them without the cultural context.

When I started crafting Chorus' character, I wasn't even aware that the region they hailed from was considered part of Appalachia. It wasn't until I started doing more research for their backstory that I began to recognize the incredible cultural context they hailed from, and decided that I wanted to make that cultural heritage a more central part of their character. Storytelling and music are already central elements to Appalachian culture, so I started doing research into local folklore, folk magic, and folk music in order to give myself a better understanding of what it would've really been like to be a young queer kid growing up in such an area.

Chorus comes from a long line of Appalachian musicians and rootworkers (one of many terms for those who practice folk magic traditions of the region), and this is something that brings them both pride and shame. Pride because it offers them concrete proof of their own history. Shame because the descendants of their childhood heroes disowned their mother and want nothing to do with them. They grew up learning the oral traditions of their mother's family and the region at large, and were an apprentice to the local midwife in their hometown before they fled. Their whole life has been shaped by the culture that raised them, and it was very important for me to portray that cultural with as much accuracy and respect as I could.
