The concept of anchors in teen wolf always fascinated me. Because it’s not the same for everyone. Someone connects to negative emotions, pain, suffering, anger. Someone attaches to happy memories and joy. There are those who connect to mantras, philosophical ideas, and beliefs.
But there are also those who connect to loved ones, because they are something that makes them vulnerable, human. They are those who calm with a heartbeat, gentle voice, those who can reach the deepest parts of the mind with words, whose single presence can pull the shift, anger, impulse and instinct back and make the supernatural being feel at ease.
And when two supernatural beings are each other’s anchors? It means they connect to other not because they are a dose of the humanity they lost, not the reminder of the human part of them, but because they know they can trust each other because other will always have their back.

thinking about the way that theo likely has a horrendous relationship with touch and he probably only associates it with pain and bad things and being torn apart and having pieces of himself stripped away little by little and i just wanna vom actually. he’s never known hands that were kind and gentle. he’s never known safety in someone else until liam and i actually am going to flip a table

Made this in like 5 minutes cuz I loveee seeing this trend on tiktok and immediately thought of my babiess 🥹
It’s clear that Liam was Theo’s light throughout the season from the moment he freed Theo from hell however in these scenes to me, it feels as though Liam was the one who was lost in the darkness especially in the Zoo scene, where he got triggered and angry and Theo was there to help him and calm him down, literally proved that Theo was his anchor 😭❤️
The second being the elevator scene where Theo literally saved Liam’s life once again and helped him fight the hunters and the iconic “im not dying for you” scene 🫶🏼🫶🏼 to me it felt as though Liam finally saw Theo for who he was after changing and trying to be better and just being Liam’s savior hence the light :)

are there any tma characters that you think should have been more shitty? like someone who doesn't make as many bad decisions as the other characters when that's what the show is all about? because that's how i kind of feel about georgie and why i'm not really attracted to her as a character compared to the others
To answer who could have been worse:
Martin. I’m too tired to explain this in detail. But it has less to do with how he is in canon and more of the fandom’s failure to acknowledge or even see some of Martin’s more toxic behavior.
I also would have liked to see Tim go more off the deep end because he easily could have been the contrarian constantly providing a wwgd(what would Gertrude do) perspective and I’ll admit I like toying with Stranger! Tim.
Now, sorry anon but I have to be Georgie’s lawyer here.
Or maybe I’m not her lawyer because I do think she’s more morally complex than you’re giving her credit for and frankly, can be shitty at times.
The thing that sticks out to me the most is her telling Jon she would be his anchor and then simply not doing that. Especially when Jon asked her if she would go to therapy with him and she just straight up said no. It’s sad but it’s also not her job to take care of him if she doesn’t want to and the way she sees it she’s done so much and their relationship is incredibly one-sided.
That said, I don’t completely fault her for this. At this point, her relationship with Melanie is progressing and as far as Melanie and therefore Georgie are concerned, Jon is responsible for so many of Melanie’s problems. For Georgie, Jon is a bad college ex, and maybe even a mistake (tho we don’t know much about their relationship we do know it ended up badly).
Georgie may even feel bad for at first encouraging Melanie to cut Jon some slack and then he only got worse.
Maybe Georgie is more aware of Jon’s true nature than any of us. Maybe she’s recognizing patterns in him that we (or even the other characters) can’t.
Either way, she was extremely unkind to Jon and clearly picked Melanie over him which is an incredibly complex and bittersweet situation to be in and not in any way a boring or morally easy one.
And of course as I always like to emphasize: the narrative importance of anchors. Melanie escaped in large part due to having Georgie. Jon lost Georgie as an anchor and in so many ways, his ties to a life outside the institute and the entities.

She remembers how his eyes fluttered open when her small hand slid over his larger one. She remembers how he released the blanket he was clutching to grasp her palm.
She tells him about the drowsy but rather adoring way he gazed up at her when he sighed, “You came back.”
“You’re supposed to be sleeping,” she weakly reprimanded.
“Thought I told you... I sleep better when you’re with me.”
Not bothering to suppress a smile, she recalled, “You did say that, didn’t you?”
“Mmmwhat are you waiting for then? Get in.”
“Stiles, there’s hardly any sp—”
She remembers the droplets that leaked from his eyes when he appealed, “Please. We can share. I wanna... I wanna share everything with you, Lyds.”
And she was done for.

Silence (Thiam)
Silence.
That’s all he hears, all that’s ever been waiting for him since he could remember, but even in the midst of all the confusion, all of the chaos that surrounds them, he can always find a way to break the silence. It’s not hard. It’s never been difficult because all he has to do is look for Liam. The werewolf is always creating constant noise and finding ways to make sure nothing is quiet for too long. He used to find it frustrating but now, he would give anything to have the noise back.
There’s always been an unspoken pull between them. That’s why they have stayed together for so long and why even when Liam knew he should have disposed of him long ago, he never did. Theo doesn’t blame him though. Liam’s always had a soft spot for helping people and he is Scott’s Beta. It’s not crazy to think that he would feel somewhat responsible for Theo and his safety after pulling him out of hell.
Liam’s been a constant in Theo’s life since that day and he can’t imagine his life without him even if he wanted to. He doesn’t want to though. The thought of it makes him angry, almost feral with the thought of losing Liam because he’s probably the closest thing he’s ever had to a best friend. If he can call him that. He’s pretty sure friends don’t cause stuttering of heartbeats or butterflies whenever they’re around. That’s something he refuses to unpack right now though.
Right now, everyone’s feeling it. The loss. He knew something was wrong the moment he woke up. The silence. It was too quiet. The loss was too deafening and even if Theo wanted to believe that he was just being paranoid or that he was only nervous due to all the events that have happened in such a short amount of time, he can’t.
Theo listens, waiting to hear something, anything to let him know Liam’s close. To give him some indication that he’s taking this well and hasn’t found himself doing something stupid because of his pain.  He doesn’t hear anything. Only the creaking of floorboards underneath his feet and it's loud enough to cause him to be enraged at standing out here in the hallway and searching for any glimmer of hope. Anything that can tell him why all of this happened and to Liam of all people.
Theo used to love silence. Used to welcome it over anything else. All he ever heard was noise. Noise from the dread doctors and their experiments.  Noise from his own thoughts about the next step in his plans, and noise from his own stolen heart that seemed to get louder and louder whenever he thought about how he ended up here.
Silence is easier. It doesn’t confuse him and doesn’t force him to question if any of them could have changed anything. To keep this from happening. It’s not fair and he doesn’t think Liam’s going to be able to make it through this unscathed. That’s the thing though, none of them were ever truly unscathed to begin with. Not really. Not when they had to deal with things as teenagers that most people will never have to deal with their entire lives.
He yearns for the silence again. To help him disconnect from all of this and to finally find peace in all of this. It never came though. The peace. No matter how much Theo asked for it and no matter how much Stiles ignored the rest of them and tried to piece together what went wrong. Theo was sure it was going to drive him mad because something like that, has to.  He gave up though. Long ago. Before the rest of them did because at the end of the day it doesn’t matter. None of it matters. What matters is Liam.
He’s the only thing that ever mattered to Theo. As much as he tried vehemently to deny it. He always knew that he mattered more than anyone else and Theo would tear out his own heart if it would mean taking all of this away.
Silence.
I think someday Liam’s going to need you.
He’s not sure why the guy said that. It was ridiculous and Theo never understood what the purpose of telling him that was. Maybe it wasn’t for him. Maybe it was for some sense of peace between them and even looking back on it now, he didn’t need to hear it. It only set him up to need that to be true. Theo needs it to be true because if it’s not then what the hell is he doing all of this for to begin with? He’s not a great person and he knows he shouldn’t even be allowed to stand here today, but he's here now and for some reason he’s allowed to stay.
“Go away.” Liam calls to him, causing him to turn and see a light on in the kitchen.
Theo doesn’t go away. He couldn’t even if he tried and he realized that from the moment he saw Liam pulling him out of hell. He wasn't ever going to go away again.
He walks into the kitchen to find Liam sitting on the floor, his eyes red, almost swollen, and it breaks everything inside of Theo, but he can’t let it show. He won’t let it show because Liam needs him now and that’s the only thing that matters.
Theo sits down beside him, listening to his heartbeat, and listening to the slow rising of Liam’s chest, the thump thump thump of his heart beating and it’s his favorite noise. It’s always keeping him calm, letting him find his way back, and showing him just how much Liam anchors him. He can be the anchor for Liam now.
“I said go away.” Liam whispers, his face now growing angry at him, but he doesn’t let it phase him, and Theo gently places his hand over Liam’s heart. The way he did for him when he was racked with guilt at the nightmares that invaded his head every night. It grounded him.  Let him lean on something.
Liam’s heart skips a beat and just like that his face falls, growing sad. He’s no longer angry, instead he leans into Theo and allows him to place his arm around him, trying desperately to soothe his pain. Theo’s not sure if he can but right now Liam only needs to know he’s there and silence is okay at this moment. In this place with Liam.

This *would've* been "Triple Sax Blues," but with only two anchors (evidently), having three people playing a saxophone wouldn't really be possible.
Plus Katie's still trying to figure out the notes. Tom's having fun, though. Good for him.
