Here she is, Mathilda Smollett, Captain Smollett’s beloved niece! I sort of based her and her relationship with Trelawney off from Captain Amelia from Disney’s Treasure Planet, might do a lil meme of her later-

Also fun facts:

- she’s in her mid 30s

- her never smiling isn’t the result of her parents’ death (Ofc she’s still sad about that) but more of it being part of her character since birth. Smollett wants to see her smile and be happy

- old childhood friend of first mate, Mr. Arrow (pathetic scrawny yellow guy from previous posts); they’re like a comedy duo

- Smollett absolutely dotes on her, which mathilda can get annoyed by since she doesn’t want to be treated like a lil kid + gets annoyed with his military antics but is amused by it

- she and dr. Livesey would be great buddies

- though Trelawney puts her off at times due to his dumbass, mathilda enjoys his company a lot; Smollett is overprotective of her when it comes to romance

- her father was the younger brother of Smollett and a soldier who was killed in action during a war and her mother was a housewife who became suddenly ill after her husband’s death and died from it; Smollett took care of both Mathilda and her mother before the latter’s death and adopted Mathilda

- can be intimidating, but I promise, she’s nice

- both she and Jim understand each other, since they both lost their dads. For mali, they’re just aunt and niece lol

- adores children, though her never-changing facial expression kinda worries her about how they think of her. Very overprotective of children (in this case, Jim and Mali) and will become somewhat disturbing if you try to threaten the kids

- she’s as tall as dr livesey

- basically one of the main adult protagonists

Ever since Elsabeth was young her parents believed that she was going to be someone great. However, there were certain moments that withheld her from releasing her full potential. You see ever since Elsabeth was small she was known to be gifted in ice skating, it was something she loved doing. Her second love would be her family, especially her sister Anna who unlike her who was mature minded was a pure bundle of joy. One afternoon when Anna was seven the girls went on the skate rank and Anna got injured. Elsabeth was scared and decided to take a break from ice skating. Her parents were more protective of them anyway. A few years later their parents died in a ski accident and Elsa took a full break of ice skating. She can’t get over the guilt herself. Therefor to ease it she took over the managing of the rink when she was nineteen. Recently the ice has been calling her again, and when the ice rank is closed she finds herself sneaking in to skate again. As she falls on the ice, she remembers why she shouldn’t try to skate on ice more.

What are the other princesses up to in the menagerie world? Is it just regular canon shenanigans? Or would they be off having their own adventures and possibly join the crew (only if you're interested in them of course)?

I'm sure I'll find a way to work in some of the others if I want to down the line. I've got a few other characters mapped out: Merida is a lord in Scotland, who helped Santiago get his letter of marque during the war of Spanish Succession, which is what led the Menagerie down to the Caribbean in the first place. Jane Porter is an explorer and naturalist, who has hired the Menagerie and the Ulysses on different occasions for different expeditions. The Ulysses, with Rourke and crew are another group in the world, rivals of the Menagerie in hunting artifacts from Atlantis. Captain Amelia Smollett is a Royal Navy officer who has both hunted and supported Santiago and crew on different occasions. Those are the characters I've worked up storylines or places in the world for so far. But I'll ad more as more ideas come to me.
