Game (tentatively titled appetite) revolves around Sedespa with Cailean being the arguable second main character. And perhaps love interest but I don't know if I want to go that far yet

Anyways Sedespa's backstory is basically thus: born with twin brother (not identical, sorry) in Eastern country in coastal mountains, raised by great-aunt who is a witch (I forgot to mention that a lot of this will not make sense without prior mahoyaku worldbuilding knowledge but if needed i can provide. actually i would LOVE to provide i love you mahoyaku. anyways carrying on) great aunt dies, house burns down in a fire, aapeli and sedespa join central rev after sedespa suggests it, sedespa begins to specialize in medical magic whereas aapeli is apparrently gifted with scrying magic and quickly rises up the ranks much to sedespa's chagrin, sedespa's girlfriend dies and aapeli eats her (again wizard lore) as her last request as sedespa didn't make it to the battlefield in time, aapeli is able to foresee the failure of central rev and suggests they leave, sedespa kills aapeli in a fit of.. well... jealousy anger resentment but he says its because he didnt want his brother to die a traitor, gets scarred and eats aapeli (more wizard lore), begins to travel the world but is never able to find peace, stops by a place in south where hes advised to return to his childhood home, and mysteriously finds it intact with someone else living inside...? he also has a brief stint with northern gang during which he transgenderifies

Sedespa is like 400 yrs old at this point give or take a few years

Cailean is the guy who randomly took up residence in the house.. Um... Cailean backstory: born on the border of Central/East/North but he was basically born in Central to like.. idk what the mahoyaku version of middle class is but basically that human family... his brother is a successful business man who migrated to east and his family are tradeworkers/merchants. Cailean's always been kind of awful at traditional school so despite his parents' best efforts he went into apprenticeship with a botanist. He hid the fact that he was a wizard until someone ratted him out and then he got kicked out, then went to his brother's for like support, his brother also tells him to fuck off (putting it nicely), and he finds this random house in the woods in which he lives by himself for the next like, 20 years. he's currently attempting to self teach botany while also having like zero idea of how to use magic at all... however he still cares abotu his family so he finds this random orb in the basement through which he is able to check up on them from time to time.. the house in which he resides is also almost sentiently taking care of him as well

Wow that was a lot of backstory anyways they meet up Sedespa spends three days of insanity trying to figure out why the entire house seems to be taunting him with nostalgia and guilt and eventually finds a fragment of his brother still residing within the magic tool he had (Hint: scrying orb), Sedespa and Cailean get along famously well before Sedespa discovers the orb and then Sedespa tries to explode Cailean so he can break the orb, Aapeli is taunting Sedespa from the orb the entire time, Sedespa and Cailean get into a scuffle and accidnetally break the orb and then I haven't written anymore.

William ‘Billy’ Russo AGE. uhhh i have it set late 20′s to early 30′s though its probably most like somewhere in his 30′s SPECIES. human GENDER. trans male ORIENTATION. pansexual. his romantic orientation is mostly into men. i kind of classify it as demiromantic but he calls himself gay sometimes idk. he doesn’t like labels despite that i labelled his sexuality lol. he does what he wants. INTERESTS. baseball, playing card games, playing piano, drawing, flirting, fashion, partying, sex, guns, violence PROFESSION. ceo / gang owner / criminal. its verse dependent. in his dc verse he’s a security guard but turns into a criminal. BODY TYPE. slim / slender, he’s built slightly. he’s tall because he never skipped leg day. EYES. dark brown. they almost look like black holes sometimes. which is really accurate because the more i stare the more i get sucked in. HAIR. black, undercut, usually slicked back. in s2 he has it shaved but it grows back. FACE. he pretty much always has a little bit of stubble. he feels kind of weird being completely clean shaven. reminds him a bit of pre transition. he has nice cheekbones..... in s2 he has scars covering his face to the point that there isnt much to look at.. :( HEIGHT. 6'1" (why must be.n ba.rnes be tall god i wish that were me) COMPANIONS. uh i guess in s1 william rawlins, since my billy is canon divergent in s2 (i dont even wanna call it s2 T_T) that bit would have his crew, frank (reluctant at first. idk he’s conflicted abotu everything), curtis, matt murdock maybe (i can dream), maybe dinah but he’s on rocky ground with her so idk.....i like them being like antagonistic and only working together if they /have/ to. FRUITS. watermelon, strawberries. DRINKS. other than alcohol he likes ice water and coffee. he also likes iced tea and lemonade. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES? yea. usually whisky, beer, bourbon, wine.........everything..........lmao. he likes fruit flavoured stuff sometimes he likes fancy stuff but i dont drink so fuck if i know what a fancy drink is. i looked it up and found pretty cocktails so lets go with that. SMOKES? yes. cigarettes, cigars, weed (occasionally). DRUGS? sometimes he smokes weed, mostly in post season 1 bc he finds it helps him stay grounded..for brief moments anyway. also does it socially with his crew. DRIVERS LICENSE? yes

The Loud House: No Bus, No Fuss and Resident Upheaveal Reviews

Welcome back Loudites! And i’ts time for a round of Lincoln focused episodes.. because apparently they couldn’t just.. you know, swap one of next weeks with one of this weeks so we got a sister episode with it like last time.. seriously now I know one of next week’s episodes involves Leni running for mayor I question why that’s not an episode every week.. or it’s own spinoff. And I know I have a mounting pile of those, Stella getting one, the diffrent world one with lori and bobby, The Snakebird Variety hour.. I know.. but tell me you wouldn’t watch that. Go on tell me.. i’ll know your lying. But it was an alright week and i’ll tell you all about it with spoilers after the cut.

No Bus, No Fuss: We open with LIncoln arriving late for the bus, and Lynn not riding it because tracks starting and she has to get her workout in.. and because the writers need her not to be on the bus for this plot to work at all. It’s not a terrible way to write her out, she does do all the sports.. beacause apparently like Captain America she can do all the sports without having to train her body for each specific one because she’s in peak condition. Though I do dock a few points from the episode for not having her run past it while saying on your left.

But yeah as for why it couldn’t Lincoln takes a seat in the back not realizing it’s bat country.. and also home to a gang of 8th grade bullies. Which.. yeah assholes do tend to flock to where there’s the most plausable deniablity top notch show. Though I tended to pick the back in high school more just because it was freaking comfy but hey, who says goons can’t enjoy comfort. They can’t however let this slide, not helped by Lincoln accidently spilling soda on him or his friends trying to help. Look Clyde you mean well but they just want a reason to beat him into a coma, and you basically just offered to join him. So unupsirisngly when the Lincrew exit the bus their all in pretty bad shape. Including stella....

Though in the bullies defense at least their equal opportunity jagoofs. One of them is a girl and they bullied stella just as mucha s the males. Dosen’t make them any less of a jungle gym full of tools but I can give them credit for not being sexist asshats just regular asshats. At their age that’s a hard bar to clear. Though LIncoln, Clyde and Stella all got off better than LIam, who got his undies pulled over his head, a bullying standard and rusty and Zach who. .had their underwear tied together in a not.

Oh.. oh it gets worse. When we cut to them after school.. Rusty says the fire department had to cut them loose and Zach and I quote says “I saw too much of rusty.. and his birth mark”

I.. I do not want to think about what that entails.. both because Rusty’s 12 and i’m not a pedophile and because he’s rusty. I just.. why show.. why would you try and make me THINK about that. How is Zach being scarred for life funny?

All valid questions. But moving right along past that waking nightmare, LIncoln assures them they had to have cooled off... spoilers they have not and our heroes all exit the bus at lincolns because they tied their underwear together. Yes all of them and yes including stella.

They naturally don’t want to go back and Lincoln has the idea of just having the parents drive them, one a day. Stella has to take hers off the table since her parents leave early in the morning: Her mom goes into work early and her dad has hot yoga. Which is a disapointment as I genuinely want to know about Stella’s parents and hope we actually get to see them at some point and finding out one of them works really early and the other does yoga every day, and hot yoga at that which if your wondering what that is, and when I first heard the term I was, it’s doing yoga but in an extremley humid and exhausting environment. It is sadly not learning to do this, as i’d hoped

Someday.. someday. But that still leaves a parent a piece so as you probably expect the bulk of the episode is “Parent drives them but is terrible about it” And honestly.. it’s not the series best stuff with most of these not being very funny. Most of them. Zach’s Parents: Zach’s parents go by mighty morphin power rangers logic.. i.e. the parents look and act pretty much exactly like their kids. So the Gurdles are also discount dale gribbles who stalk a man in their van while the kids wait for death but death won’t come.. and as seen up top all are as fed up with Zach as I am. Again Rusty is growing on me, I still make fun of him because why wouldn’t I, but he at least serves a function in the group. As i’ve mentioned before: Lincoln’s the leader and one of the main characters, Clyde is also a main charater and has been fairly fleshed out at this point, Stella is awesome and provides the brains and some pep, LIam is also optimsitic but provides farm jokes and muscle, and Rusty is the group asshole every gorup needs. Zach.. is the more sarcastic and cynical one but with Lynn now going to the same schoool.. why isn’t she in that roll? Have her date LIam, since I love that pairing since last week, and have her take Zach’s place since she plays the lancer role to lincoln better anyway. Zach just dosen’t do it well and comes off like a whiny baby and when he’s not in sarcasm mode he’s going off abotu aliens again, like a discount dale gribble. And look most viewers probably haven’t seen the genuine article which.. first off allow me

And second off dosen’t mean you can slack off as i’ve seen better paranoid nutjobs with that gimmick, like Stan Pines or Andromeda. You, can, do, better. So either do it or get rid of Zach already.

Liam’s Parents: His meemaw takes them riding in her tractor, leanall in her bladder, cheated on her baby you can go and ask her. A pig vomits on Clyde because GET IT LIAM’S A HICK GET IT GET IT.

Now THAT my friends is a hick.

Rusty’s Dad: So yeah I was not looking forward to meeting the stygian void Rusty popped out of but turns out his dad is apparently single. Which dosen’t suprise me, he’s rusty’s dad and both looks and is voiced by Richard Steven Horvitz, which will never not be awesome and is not only perfect casting, as he plays dorks well, but also wonderful to see him in a modern production. I mean granted the zim movie was a modern production, but that was reviving a character he played a few decades ago.

And while Rusty’s dad apparently showed up before, in an episode I SAW no less “Back Out There” so unlike some lapses in my Loud House Knowledge I have no excuse here, it was still intresting to get an explination for why Rusty’s like this. His dad is a salesman, who practically bathes in colonge, tells the same story and stops on the street to shill to people while driving his son to school, something his son helps with. And probably Rocky just rolls his eyes at. I miss rocky. And suprisingly given I hated his son pretty quickly.. I love this guy. He’s pretty endearing: Sure he’s a schmooze factory.. but he kept the kids in the divorce meaning his wife either abndoned him, or he fought hard for htem and does seem to genuinely love his kid and have a great rapport with him. I mean it helps I have a soft spot for Schyster characters, especially Stan PInes, but I just like the guy. The fact he has a vetran voice actor whose great at this sorta roll probably helps but still, he’s just wonderful and actually makes me like Rusty better, and I was already warming up to the kid, phrasing, as it explains why he’s such a douche: his dad pumps him full of self esteem, probably well meaningly and is a grown up rusty.. which is a better application of power rangers logic as instead of groaning at Zach’s angtics, this gives an explnation for why Rusty’s like this. So yeah only one of the segments I really laughed at.

Clyde’s Dads: Since we’ve met the boys before, it’s just a saftey based gag as they wrap the car in bubblerwap.

Rita: Finally we get to Rita, who simply is a bit agressive getting parking.. btu she’s a mother of 11 and has had to deal with school parking for years and doing so for several children. So fair enough. She does cut off Lincoln’s asshole of a teacher who cuts him off in line in retrubution and then tells him “Tell your mom I said high”.. in a tone that implies he’s going to be hanging outside their house at 3 in the morning with a bat starring menacingly. Yeah not a big fan of Mr. Bohlmer anymore as he’s just your basic mean teacher sterotype. So Lincoln cooks up another way, taking a plane. So we get flip back!

What can I say he’s grown on me. And he’s hilarious here, taking the kids in a rusty plane that’s “No longer under federal investigation”, which is a SELLING POINT, has no refunds nd naturally the seatbelts are shoddy and he ejects them via trap door. I loved it.

But our heros dont and now trapped in the trees Rusty and Zach bicker with one another which.. fellas I know a way to settle this. KAL-IF-FEE!

No matter who looses thier friends win. But they instead accept they have to ride the bus and face the bullies. But they also find when getting ready OHTER kids were bullied and the three cablebastards just take turns. But Lincoln has a plan to fix that and just.. outright stands up to them.. with the entire bus backing them. And honestly.. it’s not a bad message about bullying. Generally bullies won’t backed down when confronted all the time.. but when outmatched they will.. still not the best message but still far better than season 1′s “If a girl bullies you she secrety has a crush on you”. I.. will have to deal with those episodes someday but today is not that day. So our heroes celebrate and rusty does grow an inch, proving him right. Phrasing! Final Thoughts on NBNF: This one was decent... it had a few dead spots, Zach’s parents are about as intresting as he is and given all the batshit and legitly dangerous conspiracy theories and theorists that came out of of the woodwork and were backed by the trump presdency, that bit plays even worse than it would normally and the stuff with Clyde’s dad’s has been done before.. and honestly is something they need to retire. The husbands have a better dynamic than this, let them use it. It was also a disapointment we dind’t get to see Stella’s family, especially since again the mcbride’s schitck is REALLY overplayed and it would’ve been nice ot get some fresh blood in there and we really didn’t need to see Zachs. All those problems aside though this is a pretty standard plot with an okay ending, but some good gags along the way. Not Loud HOuse’s best and especially in a bad spot considering the last episode before this “Saved by the SPell” was not only way funnier but also used the lincrew better. Still can’t say i’ts bad just.. okay. Also I apparently like rusty as a character now....

Resident Upheaval: This one was also just...okay. Not terrible, and it has an actually intresting premise, but it doesn’t do much with it.

Our setup simple: Pop Pop’s girlfriend Myrtle wants to move into the same retirement home as his, explaining away her apparently living there by her just visting a lot. Sure why not. So Lincoln assures him he’s going to get her in, he’s the man with the plan.

Before we get to what the problem with that is.. gotta talk about the elephant in the room since Pop Pop is pretty absent for the rest of the episode.. and that’s that .. their STILL using him. As some of you probably know, and if you don’t your about to, Pop Pop’s voice actor Fred Willard, comedy legend and really sweet guy, passed away. So you can imagine how WRONG it feels to have not only another voice coming out of one of his characters but one that just dosen’t match. And I don’t blame Chris Swindle here, he was given a pretty unfair task of pinch hitting for someone who just fucking died, and likely because the episode was too far into production to scrap. I’m certainly hoping so because honestly.. I genuinely DON’T see why Pop Pop can’t just die with Fred. And look i’m not against replacing an actor when the worst happens: Russi Taylor’s roles all had to be replaced after her unfortunate passing, it’s not something i’m against normally... but the combination of pop pop being an older character they can write out and the fact they HAD AN ENITRE EPISODE ABOUT ACCEPTING HE WOULDNT’ LAST FOREVER, means that one comes off a bit hollow if you keep dragging him around. You’d get a good episode out of it, and this episode sets it up so that Myrtle has plenty of potetiail to stick around.

Anyway Lincoln’s problem is the OTHER applicant is Clyde’s Nana Gayle.. whose actually come up a few times before, some i’ve seen some I haven’t, a continuity nod i’m happy their following up on. They even explain why sh’es just appearing in person now as Clyde, when later snapping at lincoln, exclaims “You knew my dad’s have been trying to get her to move closer for a while now!” She’s Harold’s mom and a sweetheart. So our heroes procede to try and bribe the board, both working at it but both end up finding each other at the opera. And this.. COULD have been intresting, putting the two best friends against each other for one thing neither can both have, and both have stake in it: Myrtle is as good as grandma to Lincoln by this point and Nana Gayle is VERY close to clyde, so this isn’t great. But since the guys they’ve been bribing arne’t the end authority, they have to go to who is: SCOOTS!

As you can tell I love this old hellraiser.. and the fact she’s STILL seeing her younger boyfriend from “The Boss Maybe”. YOu get it scoots you get it. Naturally Scoots wants to see some blood, so she’s pitting both women against each other. Though neither grandma wants to do this so LIncoln and Clyde do the logical thing.. and dress up like each othe’rs grandmas, do the competition and get found out. Scoots disqulaifies both, the boys realize they were stupid and they go to apologize.

They instead find an easy solution to their problem!: Turns out Scoots as head had been hiding a double room behind a fake wall, to store both her scooters and her boyfriends motorcycle, so naturally now both grannies can move in as roomies while Scoot will just have to back her boyfriends hog into the single.. and I guess his motorbike too. The two grandmothers are instant friends, remdinng the boys fo each other and it’s.. really precious. Looks like I have yet another spinoff for the pile.

Final Thoughts: As I said this one was fine.. the Pop Pop subtistion was probably a grim neciesity, though swindle reallyd idn’t do a good job mimicking willar’ds voice and they REALLY just need to either find someone better to do the job, sound alike or no or retire the character. That tiny issue aside i’ts not bad.. it’s just not GREAT, and since we rarely see Clyde and Lincoln and GENUINE cross purposes, and last week just lying to him made clyde ill, this REALLY could’ve been intresting seeing the two go against each other and see what resutled from that. But that angle’s basically ignored and they make up pretty easily. IT’s just a wasted potetial of an episode. All in all this was an allright week. Nothing outstanding episode wise but a few good bits here and there. wehnever I get back to the loud house, Lisa becomes a teacher and Leni runs for mayor. Until then, it’s been a pleasure.

Sexuality Headcanon: i doooo feel quite strongly that he is gay based on like, his experiences of repression and the specific kind of disconnect we see from his sexuality with women but it’s not like, something that i feel so strongly i can’t read bi dean fics, and i understand both, it’s very much just a personal examination of his behaviour. General Opinion over said character: i hate him because he’s awful but he’s also one of my favourite characters in existennnnnce. i have complex ptsd and Sibling Disorder and i relate to him to an uncomfortable degree and I just want him to get better i think he deserves to get sober and break the cycle of abuse and be a good father to Jack and i think the show is a coward for not letting him do that and forcing him to be a shitty person to jack and also highkey only happened because of homophobia but htats a different post!!!!!!!

It’s been a long, stressful week. So, I’m going to drunk-watch Twilight (this is part 1, I’ll do a part 2 later). So far, I have drunk watched and reviewed Eclipse, Breaking Dawn Part 1, and Breaking Dawn Part 2. I will probably drunk-watch and review New Moon some time in the near future. My sober review of Twilight is that it is the best of all the movies (But New Moon though, I know, it’s a very close second for me). I love that it was meant to be like a cool, niche indie film and Catherine Hardwicke is the best. The baseball scene. The meadow scene. The bio scene. Iconic. Anyway, my drunken thoughts are below the cut as per usual:

- So I know it’s like .0 seconds into this ish, but I just realized when Bella’s tlakign about dying in the place of someone she loves @ the beginning, we see the deer and then in BD2, when the mountain lion tries to kill the deer, Bella kills the mountain lion. Feels like symbolism idk.

- Phil really is like 25 years old lmao. Does it ever say how old he is? He looks young af.

- Forks seems super depressing. Like the scenery is cool, but like there’s no one there? Only 3,000 people? Boring af.

- everything is so green and blue and aesthetically pleasing, thank you catherine

Daryl and Loyalty

So we’ve always known Daryl was loyal to people he loved. In season 1 he drug the group back into Atlanta for his brother - a brother we later learn, though at the time could have assumed wasn’t a great guy to really anyone, even his own brother.

In season 2, he nearly gets himself killed on multiple occasions to look for a little girl he really didn’t even know but was part of the group they had. And again we see that brother telling him that he isn’t good enough for the group. That they don’t care about him,andhile Daryl calls bullshit on that he doesn’t really believe it. And when someone in the group shows him that he is in fact worthy (namely Carol and her ‘you’re every bit as good as shane and rick’) he doesn’t believe them and with draws from the group. However this does not stop him from going on to follow Rick relatively blindly when the group finds Randal. We also see that when the farm falls, despite fire clearly frightening him - as we can see by the way he just sort of freezes when he sees the barn on fire and we later learn his childhood home caught fire and killed his mother - he is able to snap out of it to help Carol escape from the farm.

When we get along to the last bit of season 2 and first part of season 3 we get the line “You’re his henchmen” from Carol, and Daryl insists “nah, rick’s done right by me.” And while yes this is true at the time we can see that Carol clearly sees what Daryl can’t, he’ll follow someone relatively blindly due to his sense of loyalty and duty. This is later proven even further when he refuses to leave Woodbury without his brother, and then allows his brother to beat up on him in the fighting pit. During that scene he doesn’t even raise a fist to hit his brother back and we’re given the impression that this is not the first time he’s been beat up on by Merle.

Then when Rick - who was waiting for him to return at their meeting point - goes to turn Merle away Daryl says no, if you want him Merle has to come to. Which leads Rick to say fine then Daryl has to leave. Daryl chooses his brother over the group because he’s known his brother his whole life, and on a lot of levels though Merle isn’t a nice guy, Merle kept him alive and tried to keep him away from their father before going off to the military. When Daryl chooses the people with the baby Merle sees how much he’s changed and starts to tease and taunt his brother, until he sees the scars lacing his baby brothers back. This is where we see the change in Merle. That he was just as much abused by their father as Daryl. It’s then that Daryl leaves Merle back to the prison and they decide to try to make it work there.

While at the prison in a deleted scene we see Carol tell Merle that he better not mess this up for Daryl as Rick has told Daryl that Merle’s behavior is on him, because Daryl’s vouched for him.

In season 4 we watch him going out nearly daily to hunt or on runs to keep a group of nearly 50 people alive and fed - while not something he does alone it’s possible the only person who’s out as much as him is Michonne though she’s looking for the governor. Daryl who still hates the governor as much as Michonne does has given up on the search, preferring to devote his time to keeping his loved ones safe and fed rather then to revenge. Later on in season 4 he goes to search the vet school for medication and has to save the life of Bob when he nearly dies trying to grab his bag from walkers. Assuming it has medication in it he asks what’s in the bag and when he finds it’s only a bottle of liquor he’s furious. Now this is likely due to his fathers alcoholism - which we learn about in late season 4 - but he also risked his life to save Bob’s only to find that both lives had been risked for alcohol and vital medications could’ve been lost along with Bob’s knowledge of those medications.

When the prison falls mid season 4 we see Daryl ally with Beth, someone he doesn’t know particularly well but we have seen him show that same loyalty to before. Despite barely knowing her and certainly not being close to her he felt a duty to tell her of her boyfriend’s death. When they’re on the run together she’s the only one who manages to really get through to him about the abuse he suffered as a child, and we see him become extremely vulnerable during this. This further pushes his motives into season 5 which we’ll get to in a bit.

Once beth disappears and he finds himself with a group of people who are all too like Merle we see he doesn’t actually do very well in this environment. He’s not nearly as ‘alpha male’ as he comes off when he’s on his own. He’s submissive and fearful. It’s not until they come upon Carl, Michonne, and Rick, that Daryl stands up to the leader of these people. He won’t do it for himself because he doesn’t think he’s worth it, but when he sees them threaten his friends, he’s willing to do so.

When they make their escape and wind up at the church we can clearly see that Daryl doesn’t trust father Gabriel, yet he’s willing to take Rick’s word on him. Yet he’s willing to override his loyalty to Rick for his loyalty to Carol. When he sees Carol running away he follows her and asks what she’s doing and what would’ve happened had he not shown up. Then when they spot a car like the one that took Beth he immediately pulls her along with him in the search for Beth.

Once in the city Daryl pushes himself forward to find Beth, even being willing to shoot a kid in order to find out where Beth is though Carol stops him. They later return for the rest of the group - though Maggie and Glenn have gone with Abraham, Rosita, and Eugene to push towards Washington - so they can attempt to liberate Beth from the hell that is Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. When she dies, it’s Daryl who carries her outside to her sister, in a sort of shell shocked empty stupor.

As season five comes to a close and season 6 starts the group arrives at Alexandria, and we see him start to self isolating. He’s wary of everyone, even slightly so of Carol who immediately puts up a facade of some happy housewife. He ends up jumping at a chance that Aaron gives him to come with him outside the walls on Runs nearly daily, allowing him to help the community while not really having to be a part of it.

It’s not until the stuff with the Saviors starts (And it doesn’t really get going until season 7) that he really allies himself with the entire community - and even then in large part that’s due to his loyalty to Rick. He stands with them, and in the end he ends up getting taken by the Saviors. Even when he’s sitting naked in that cell, freezing and starved, he does not waver in his loyalty. Even Negan remarks on just how stubborn and strong his will to keep going and remain loyal is. Despite knowing that the saviors will be after him, when he gets free he immediately heads for Hilltop and Maggie. He knows Alexandria is the obvious one but because it’s still unknown to him how much the Saviors know about Alexandria’s relationship with Hilltop he knows he can go there and make his way back to his friends.

After Rick, Michonne, Aaron and the others arrive at Hilltop and they all make their way to Kingdom, Rick encourages daryl to stay at Kingdom. He argues that the Saviors don’t know that Alexandria knows about Kingdom like they do Hilltop and that Daryl should be safe there. Ezekiel even goes so far as to offer Daryl a place to protect him from the Saviors, and it’s one Daryl accepts until he learns about Carol living in a cabin outside of Kingdom. When richard is talking abotu leading them to this lady who’s basically dead already Daryl demands to know who it is. He then goes on to threaten Richard by saying that if anything happens to Carol, even an accident, he’ll come and see to it that Richard dies personally because he made a threat on her life saying she was pretty much dead already.

When he finds Carol at her cabin the two sit down to a meal together and she confesses that she ran away because she can’t stand the idea of anyone else getting hurt or killed. This prompts Daryl to lie to her adn tell her that they won against the saviors and everything is fine. He hides the fact that he’s just escaped weeks of torture at the hands of these people, and Carol is really the only one he would ever tell about this. He trusts her more then anyone else in the group, if he’s going to tell someone about what happened at Sanctuary it would be her. But when he sees how close she is to breaking he decides to lie and try to protect her then to tell her the truth, that Glenn and Abraham died and he was drug off and tortured because they hadn’t really killed Negan.

When he leaves, after hugging her he pauses for just a moment and debates internally telling her the truth. But ultimately decides against it and returns to Kingdom and then Hilltop and Alexandria to fight the saviors, wanting to make good on what he’d told Carol, that they would win.

However as the series moves into season 8 this looks less and less likely, even once Carol finds out the truth of what happened and Kingdom joins the fight against the saviors they’re still just barely making it by. Only after Oceanside joins and the junk yard group is decimated that they truly have the numbers. However that doesn’t mean they can take the saviors on. Not without a bit of inside help.

Dwight, the man who’d been responsible for most of Daryls actual torture in captivity, ultimately flips sides to help take down Negan. Daryl doesn’t trust Dwight, but he does trust Rick who insists Dwight has really flipped and isn’t going to sell them out. This is ultimately where the issues with Rick and Daryl’s loyalty to him start. Daryl follows Rick’s orders, albeit warily and angrily and tell Dwight the plan and keeps him updated. Ultimately expecting that at the end of this, while Dwight will be allowed to live and go on, Negan will die.

Then Carl is bitten, and Daryl and the rest of the Alexandria group have to escape to Hilltop in preparation for the final push, which Dwight is a big part of. Daryl leads that group through a walker infested swamp in order to get them to safety, and he does a good deal of it holding Judith. He knows Rick is crushed over the loss of his son, and really so is the rest of the group.

However, when it comes to the final battle with the Saviors, Rick spares Negan. This catches Daryl by surprise and ultimately hits him like a slap in the face, just as it hits Maggie and Carol as one. While Rick makes the argument that this is what Carl wanted it does little to allay Daryl’s feelings and ultimately is not fair to him, Maggie, or the rest of the group. Yes Rick was grieving the loss of his son, and that is no doubt extremely traumatic. However, Rick goes so far as to ignore the traumatic hurt and losses of his friends, and not only does he do this, he sends Daryl to live at sanctuary.

This is the ultimate ‘you don’t matter’ to daryl. This is the moment he feels Carols ‘You’re his henchmen” line from season 2 more then ever. Because he’s sacrificed everything for Rick and Rick’s war and Rick’s group and Rick’s kids. Only to be sent back to a place that carries such immense trauma and pain for him that he can hardly sleep while he’s there.

This is something we see as the series moves into season 9. Following the groups return from DC when they stay at the Sanctuary Daryl tells Rick that he wants to leave Sanctuary, and we’re given the sense that this is not the first time he’s pressed this issue with Rick. When asked where he’d go Rick says back to Hilltop to see Maggie and baby Hershel. Rick insists if Daryl leaves he’s to come to Alexandria, something that’s only going to be just as hard as staying at Sanctuary due to the proximity to Negan. Daryl recognizes this attempt at manipulation and is shoved into a rock and a hard place, either stay at Sanctuary where he struggles to function, or go to Alexandria where he’s at a risk of getting himself hurt or killed because he knows he can’t control himself around Negan. Daryl as much as confesses the fact to Carol when he’s sat on the loading dock smoking and she joins him. He only ends up being able to leave when Carol offers to stay at Sanctuary a while so he can get away for a bit.

When the group decides to build the bridge and the saviors start dying, we see Daryl is less then concerned about this fact. He tells Rick that after what these people did it was bound to bite them in the ass, something Rick gets furious over, Rick then goes so far as to accuse Daryl of killing the Saviors. Daryl, who’d known Rick knew he was unhappy about his position is caught off guard by this and highly offended, asking if “that’s who you think I am?” to Rick. And once again his brother’s words “you’re nothing more then a redneck asshole to them” play through his head. He really thinks this is what Rick sees him ass.

Now it wasn’t right for Daryl and Maggie to walk away from the Oceanside residents when they’re killing Arat, there’s no excuse for that. However the explanation was simple, Arat had done to Oceanside’s boys and men, what had been done to Daryl and he didn’t blame them for wanting vengeance.

Maggie, Daryl, and Carol then rig a plan to get Negan killed, and it largely hinges on Daryl getting Rick away from Alexandria. When he does so the two get into a fist fight and end up in the pit. It’s not until there that Daryl really has a chance to tell Rick why this has happened, despite Daryl, Maggie, and Carol, all trying to tell Rick that unless they were listened to something was going to happen for a year and a half. He tells him that he knows he did it for Carl but that doesn’t make it right, especially not with Rick currently trying to push a charter to bind all the communities together on them. That if Rick wants all communities to be equal then they should all get a say in what happens to Negan, regardless of Rick’s personal feelings on the matter.

Yet when they get out and see the heard Daryl immediately recognizes that this is a lost cause, but Rick insists on going. Daryls ‘Be safe’ is the most he can give him because in his heart he really does think that this is the last time he’s going to see Rick alive.

And it pretty much is

Daryl manages to rally people to try to help, but Rick ends up hurt and on the bridge and has to blow it up to stop the herd. This leaves Daryl feeling guilty and distraught over how he left things with Rick and he almost immediately disappears into the forest unable to handle seeing Ricks body. Only after it comes out that they never found the body does Daryl steel himself and promise Michonne, Judith, and the unborn RJ, that he will find and return Rick’s body to them so they have something to bury.

This prompts Daryl’s near six years spent living alone in a camp by the river looking for Rick’s body. While he visits various communities for trade and brief visits he never stays for long. In fact, the only person who knows where exactly his camp is, is Carol. Who makes it a point to visit him regularly to make sure he’s eating and at least trying to take care of himself.

It’s his loyalty to Carol that finally draws him out of this camp, she wants him to look after Henry at Hilltop. He ends up agreeing and there ends up with Lydia. He knows her only a few days before returning her to alpha and Henry accuses him of being no better then the rest for returning her to that situation. This prompts him to realize that he can’t live with himself for having sent her back and he and Connie go out to the woods to look for her and Henry who has followed her.

Fast forwarding to the fair when the group from Kingdom disappears and they send a search party out Daryl is one of the first to go, his best friend’s son is missing after all. When they find Henry’s head on a pike he immediately grabs Carol and tells her to “Look at me. Look at me.” Not wanting her to have to focus on the decapitated head of her son. It’s highly likely that Daryl was the one to have to put Henry’s reanimated head down, he wouldn’t want Carol to have to do it, and would be worried that she wouldn’t be able to but would want it done as quickly as possible.

Fast forward to season 10 and we get Daryl going out of his way to make sure Carol is alright and trying to keep her alive, even after the death of his friend Connie, which came about because Carol rushed into a cave to try to kill Alpha. It’s after this that carol asks “just say that you hate me’ and Daryl says the he could never hate her.

While his relationship and love to Carol are on a whole different level then his loyalty to the group and his people at large (and are arguably far more extreme, I genuinely believe that Carol could hurt him in a million different ways and he’d be incapable of hating her) and for me to address another day this is a fine example of where his loyalty takes him.

I don’t think Carol will hurt him the way his past has, I just don’t think she has that in her, she loves him too much, and she’s genuinely devastated by the idea that she may have done so accidentally. But I do think his loyalty is something that has hurt him in the past and will hurt him in the future because at his heart, Daryl really is just a loyal soul who wants to help his friends.

Ducktales Reviews: The Trickening!

Halloween Havoc continues! Louie’s greed and lack of concern for his brother’s feelings or well thought out schedule leads them to a real life haunted house with vampire clowns, dummies, a scary well lady and a gelatinous cube. Because there’s’es always room for gelatinous cube. Meanwhile Della wants to use Launchpad’s dangerous misconceptions about halloween to traumatize children for funzies and Donald had a problem with that for some reason. Also Scrooge is kind of an asshole on Halloween it turns out. No one is suprised. Ghosts, goblins, and full review with spoilers under the cut.

Happy halloween month everybody! Halloween Havoc, aka my spate of halloween reviews continues as I roll into my first actual halloween episode review of the season! Yeah weird but so far we’ve covered demons getting exorcisims, little girls thinking they can raise the dead, and a horrifying plauge guided by the human incarnation of all that is evil, but not the actual holliday itself. Weird ain’t it? Well that changes with this so as always pitter patter.

It’s HALLOWEEN here in duckberg, and the mansion kids are planning Trick or Treating. Natural given Huey’s OCD, he has everything planned out a and naturally the kids all have unique and adorable costumes. Huey is gizmoduck, though with a GK instead of GD, a nice nod to “New Gizmokids on the BLock’ From the original series, an episode I haven’t seen but have heard of so theres that. It’s also because he likely wants to be Fenton’s kid sidekick which.. yeah please do that show. It’d be so fucking adorable. Plus Huey needs to be happy for once without having to go through a gauntlet of misery first. Let my boy be happy. +

Anyways Dewey’s is rather disapointing as it’s a “pirate on vacation” which while hilarious and very dewey, is kind of an anti-climax after months of speculation. Webby is some kind of ancient demon king as apparently in the duckverse the origins of halloween are based on appeasing various monsters, and this is so she can hide from them effectively. And Louie.. is Huey. Which means putting on Huey’s hat and a terribly insulting impression of him.

Meanwhile Donald and Della are an angel and a devil, with, which I didn’t realize until a tumblr post, Della’s costume being the one one of the boys wore in the classic disney trick or treat short. So that’s a nice nod. Donald wants to nicely give out candy while Della wants to terrify the children. Both end up disapointed as Scrooge instead boots everyone from the house and locks the mansion gates, as he doesn’t like giving out handouts which.. yeah that tracks.

As it turns out Scrooge also has his own plans.. which are gloriously ludicrous, sounding like something Glomgold would do: He’s going to go trick or treating himself, as when he was a boy, this was the one time of year a poor lad like him could get treats and he worked his tail off to do so and wants to prove he’s still got it. And as we see later SOMEHOW he still gets candy. It’s like if THIS was actually sucessful.

I would genuinely not be suprised if Scrooge too hadn’t tried to get an oil well from an elementary school this way. As for leaving candy out he leaves out an empty take one bowl which is as clever as it is douchey. So in other words Scrooge in a nutshell. So with handing out treats and scares at the house a non-option, Della and Donald go to see what Launchpad’s doing since Beakly.. is.. I have no fucking idea. NO I really don’t, she shows up for the ending, but before that? If they mentioned where she was I clearly missed it because she’s just.. missing for most of the episode and given every other member of the main cast is accounted for this episode, it’s VERY noticable. Give her more to do dangit!

So yeah we get our two plots, which i’ll cover seperately, then cover the ending where they dovetail together. Kay? Kay.

The Kid’s Plot centers around Huey and Louie.. specifically Louie wanting to go to a real life haunted house while Huey, as mentinoed has heavily established plans for their night. As for why Louie would go into danger, well as usual for when he does that theirs something in it for him: Rumor has it no kid has ever made it out with their candy.. thus leaving decades worth of candy just waiting to be nabbed and thus never having to trick or treat again. One big score for a payoff.. which didn’t make a lot of sense on first thought and my best guest is whatever preservative Gyro used for Oxy Chew, since it was still edible decades later, was probably spread to other candies since there’s no way in hell Scrooge would pass up a zillion dollar invention like that. Either way works. Huey is outvoted as Dewey naturally wants the excitment and Webby wants to see if her demon costume works on actual demons. However things quicklky go wrong as they ecoounter a dewey dummy and a killer dummy, as well as a monster clown and a gelatonous cube, which yes. I may not play DnD but I love these things.

The kids escape the house by accident while tryign to escape and Louie, still being a dick about things, finds out Huey DID know abotu the stash btu avoided it and Louie lays into Huey.. a bit much honestly, feeling he was agaisnt it purely because it wasn’t on schedule.. when you know, Louie could’ve asked to put it on schedule or actually given a damn about this, especially since Huey’s planned their trick or treats EVERY YEAR, so he’s had a full year to ask for this insane idea, or even the short time he’s known about it if shorter. Sure huey might of sputtered a bit, but Louie knows his other siblings, Webby and Dewey could convince him to loosen up and include the house. Louie’s just being kind fo a selfish dick here.. however i’ts not so overwhelming as to overpower the episode, as he has been before and while he should know better about risking his family’s lives after “Timephoon!” it is in character for him to protiize a big score like this over other people’s feelings and it’s not even the first time this season he’s done that. So fair enough.

But we soon get the second best reveal of the episode: As the kids are backed into a corner by monsters.. they grumble theres no candy and it turns out the monsters.. ARE REAL.. but their traditional monsters like frankenstein, dracula, and the bride of frankenstein, just dressed up like this to scare kids. As it turns out the WHOLE THING is an elaborate yearly scooby doo hoax to get kids candy, with the brilliant twist it’s done by actual monsters> As the vampire points out they can’t exactly shop during the day.. or he can’t at least, so this is how they get candy for the year.. at tribute if you will. Also the Gelationous Cube gets a nice hat as you see above. It’s a REALLY clever twist and I absolutely love it. I DID NOT see it coming and even with some spoiler screenshots I thankfully did not have it spoiled for me. REALLY good stuff.

As for why Huey’s been so obessed with his planning.. it’s actually really clever and really good character stuff: Huey simply got really into it because back when they were with donald this WAS their adventure for the year: the one time he let them cut loose and have fun, and he got a real kick out of it.. and Louie getting candy for life kind of destroys that. And that’s why Louie still works here.. because he instnatly realizes from this that was the problem and apologizes in his own way. It’s a nice bit of character from both: We’ve rarely had their pre-mansion lives factor in and it’s nice to see it for a change, and it’s nice to see Louie isn’t all dick, just like 20% dick. Unforutnately having no candy dosen’t appease the monsters who are pissed and descend on the kids.. until.. well for the until we have to back up a bit. So onto the adult plot we go! Della and Donald go to Launchpad whose dressed in a jason mask and ash williams/jason coveralls, weilding a power sander and having barricaded his place. After he scares some children, a bit too much, and Della and Donald are reallyd amn confused, he explains.. and we get the best reveal of the episode.. which given the above is saying something but it’s clear like the “blath” gag in “Astro BOYD” and the non-anthro ducks gag last week, this is one of those things Frank has been keeping under his hat all series. So as a boy Launchpad crashed his tryke into the mansion, ran into the monsters after reading off a candy wrapper.. and now assumes he unleashed a horde of monsters onto the world every halloween.. and tha’ts what he assumes the trick or treaters are. I just .. dont’ have a lto of words. This is pure comedy gold and easily the best gag of the episode and oen fo the best of the series. It’s clever, fresh, and really fits the character. Naturally Della wants to exploit this to terrify children ebcause she has underlying issues to adress while Donald tries to stop her. Thankfully before Della can get launchpad to scar children for life, Scrooge shows up and fights launchpad.. it’s part of why I also find scrooge’s dickery acceptable as launchpad beats the shit out of him.. it’s still an even fight, as not to suspend disbelief, but Scrooge still looses. I mean he gets out of being trapped in his candy bag easily because scrooge btu still, props to launchpad. So Launchpad decides to go face his fears and Donald and Della decide to stop him before he doesd a muder on a child. Which leads to an AMAZING climax as Launchpad scooby doo chases the scared monsters around as they have no idea what the fuck’s going on and hte monsters end up really enjoying his scar eof htem and bowing to the master. It’s a good way to end it. After Della explains what’s going on, Louie and Huey decide to explain halloween to Launchpad by taking him to the once house he hasn’t been: the Manor. Scrogoe has finally opened it up, with a line of kids no less, the monsters bond with some kids in line. As for why.. as Webby sadly figures out Scrooge is charging admission, thakns to dewey who thought an all night candy store was a good idea which.. yeah it is. So everyone gets a happye ending and the monsters hang a photo of hte night up in the mansion. A really sweet ending, pun uintended but eh it’s welcome.

Final Thoughts. Easily one fo the series best. While the characters are a bit exagerated in places, i.e. della, launchpad , scrooge and louie, it works for the plot well enough and the jokes well enough to make it okay. My only real complaint is a lack of even a cameo from Lena and Violet, as it feels weird to not even have htem in the ending, much less trick or treating with their friends. It just feels odd and could’ve used a throaway line. I get WHY not , as Lena even pre-blue would’ve destoryed the tension with the monsters, but it still feeels really weird to not have them. But it’s a minor quibble in an otherwise REALLY funny and creative episode and a fun halloween treat to revist every year from now on. Really good work. That does it for this week.
