Randall half-wondered to himself, as he listened to her with a tender smile: He couldn't help but notice this as he held her hand, wishing for nothing more than to warm her with everything he had. He hated to think this poor woman was cold, even in the summer, and so he found himself taking her hands the way a lover might, hoping he could chase away the chill.

"I...I'm glad you came in last night," he smiled, giving her hand a little squeeze. "I...I know how you feel, in a way; my life, it's...been pretty lonely too lately, it's been very, uh...monotonous, I guess is the word. I get up, I go to work, I go to bed...rinse and repeat. And so for you to come along and just...shake up my whole world, it feels like? It's wonderful."

He didn't know what compelled her to come into the shop last night. He didn't know what drew her in put them on one another's path, nor did he knew what about himself it was that so attracted her, but he wasn't about to question it, as he finished shyly, and yet completely earnestly, "I'm...I'm very excited for tomorrow night too-there's no one I'd rather spend an evening out with than you."

Okay but now I have to confess something. I didn’t have a crush but when I was a freshman in college I was weirdly obsessed with Monsters Inc. (this was before Monsters University came out) and I remember joining this really obscure Randall fan site. And, like, everyone on the blog was a huge Randall apologist that tried to make him out to be a victim. There was one thread about why people liked him so much and I wrote something along the lines of “I like him because he sucks. He’s such an unrepentant jerk and I think that is fun” and it pissed EVERYONE off. I remember getting in a back and forth with the mod and them being like “um ACTUALLY Randall is a victim and his boss MADE him kidnap those children and he totally wouldn’t do it if he didn’t have to” and I was just like 🤨 “ur wrong but ok” and never logged back in. But yeah, if you have to make up some sob story and completely ignore how a character acts in a movie to like him then maybe you don’t really like that character as much as you like your oc who looks like him lmao.

Does anyone else see similarities between what Randall was told happened after his “death” and The Count of Monte Cristo? Which by the way, happens to be originally French, and was also made into a few musicals?

Like, did Descole just get some basic points from Randall’s history and go “oh boy I can turn this into a recreation of my favorite musical” and just run with it?

i really want to see amy and rouge in sonic 3 but tbh im kind of worried that if shadow rouge and amy are all introduced at the same time then one or more of them is gonna get significantly less screentime and development than everyone else and just get kinda pushed off to the side in favor of focusing on other characters. and we all know its not gonna be shadow who gets less screentime because hes shadow. and i know rouge and amy arent even confirmed to be in the next movie but i just have a feeling that at least one of them will be which is why im saying this stuff Anyway if rouge the bat is in the third sonic movie and she gets very little screentime compared to everyone else that will be the start of my joker arc

He'd seen them both, of course; he'd seen movies (be them double bills or not) multiple times down at the little second run theater, partly because it was a good way of staying cool on a hot New Orleans day, partly because he didn't mind seeing these movies more than once. He quite enjoyed the British horrors-he had to say, in the long run, Universal was probably his favorite home of horror, but Hammer was by no means bad in the least.

(Admittedly, he did wish the theater was running Horror of Dracula and Brides of Dracula back to back, just because the latter film was more romantic, but oh well...)

Sensing her discomfort, however, Randall asked gently, "Is that alright?" He hoped she wasn't uncomfortable at the double-feature; she said she liked horror, and so he hoped she'd like these films too, they were an awful lot of fun...even if he did wish he had just one iota of Christopher Lee's charisma and presence...
