Georgia talking about staged again and now their…… flirting? Is that what you would call putting a heart on Anna and her calling Georgia a flirt?? Radio silence from the both of them and now randomly there’s this.
Hi there! Well, I'm not sure it's really random. But let's get the visual up here first, for those who haven't seen Georgia/AL's Insta stories today:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So this seemed to start with Georgia posting the story about Staged playing on BBC iPlayer after she finished watching OFMD. The second story is the one with Georgia drawing the heart around AL, followed by the story with her drawing a heart around the glass of wine Michael is holding, and then Anna shared Georgia's story and called her a flirt.
The reason I don't believe this is random is because for the last several days, all everyone has been talking about online is Ineffable Con and Rob/Gavin's comments about the kiss between Michael/Aziraphale and David/Crowley. And as we've seen before, just when the conversation gets too focused on Michael and David, Georgia and AL post a story or photo to bring the attention back to them. It's actually fairly predictable at this point, since it's happened multiple times previously (though I would say this seems a bit more blatant than other instances, given that there isn't any reason for either of them to promote Staged right now).
My thought in regard to the "flirt" comment is that I agree with you in not understanding exactly how that reads as flirting (as it didn't come across that way to me). I do wonder if this is another attempt at Georgia and AL trying to be the female analogues to David and Michael (which we've also seen before), but it again doesn't work because they don't have that same chemistry or flirty dynamic that Michael and David have. Also, if this actually was "flirting," what was the purpose in GT circling the glass of wine? Is she flirting with the wine as much as AL? Once you look past the straightforward promotional aspect of these stories, it just seems very weird.
Weirdness is apparently the theme for the day, however, as there was also this reply from AL on Twitter earlier:
Tumblr media
If you look at the timestamps, AL replied to this tweet/Michael's tweet exactly one minute after Michael replied. Going back to the idea of predictability, there's been nonstop discussion for the past several days about Michael and David kissing, and my first thought was that she seemed to just be looking for a reply that she could jump on and insert herself, to where I would not be surprised if she has notifications set up for his tweets for just such an occasion.
Upon further consideration, I did get the feeling that her "Where can I get one?" was not at all sincere in the way that Michael's was. It came across to me as a passive-aggressive way of reasserting her position (i.e., "I'm the only one who actually gets to love Michael Sheen"). It also makes it seem like she is fighting with the fans for Michael's attention, on top of already competing with David (although let's be honest, there is no competition there). More than that, however, I also got the feeling that AL copying his comment was her way of mocking him for wanting the t-shirt at all (i.e., "Look how stupid he is for wanting this stupid shirt"). Which of course is not something she would actually say, but the copied text along with the reply coming only one minute later makes it seem a bit circumspect. And it makes me feel sad for the fan who made the original post who may not realize what is really going on.
In any case, those are my thoughts on GT and AL's social media posts today. As I've always said before, I know I could be completely wrong in my interpretations, but the timing is just too strange for me to believe it's a coincidence. I'm happy to hear others' thoughts, though...

Klaroline Fic Rec Event 2020 - Day 2: Human!AU
Title: Wherewith to Sate Its Malice
Author: @cbk1000 / cbk1000
Summary: It is the Autumn of Terror. Consulting detective Caroline Forbes must join forces with the world's most dangerous criminal to solve her most challenging case yet. Caroline as Sherlock; Klaus as Moriarty. The Sherlock AU tumblr peer pressured me into writing.
Warnings: Drug use mentions, historically accurate and vivid descriptions of Jack the Ripper's victims, an abundance of hidden guns, mentions of homophobia, Kol the innuendo machine, Klaus murders people out of pique, smut, organs in jars, i think maybe the boys torture someone off screen
Status: Complete
Why you should read it: OKAY JUST WAIT. I know i literally just picked one of Jenn's stories for yesterday and I have been sweating over this decision all goddamn day but I Have Reasons.
I'll lay it on the line okay: I am monsterfucker trash and im not in a vampire fandom for some barista stories. If you are, kudos to u for liking a thing, u enjoy that thing and i will support you!!! But Human!AU is like 95% miss for me. The general lack of murder gives me hives.
HOWEVER. One day Jenn was like "I love Holmes and that Jack the Ripper shit was great in my last fic, I wonder if i should combine them," or something idk it was a hot minute ago, and then like, all of us peer pressured her into writing it. I personally begged shamelessly for it, and for more Tim/Kol. She gave me both. So like, I am very personally attached to this fic to start, but then she wrote it and it was even better.
Caroline as Holmes is incredible. She is smart ofc, and snarky, and still manages to sound like herself despite it being 1888. I absolutely believe this boss ass bitch with a smooshy heart is the world's best detective. Kol as Watson is delightful. He has gleefully taken over the opium use portion of the pair, along with lounging around on furniture and hitting on pretty boys. Enzo and Tim O'Sullivan round out the Baker's Street Irregulars with research, disguises (more cross dressing), and cheerfully trying to murder anyone that breathes on Caroline. More on that later.
Klaus as Moriarty is a balm to my soul. He is criminal mastermind nutjob, a psychopath, ruthless as hell, and generally as terrible at family dinners as ever. Literally no one is more impressed with themselves than Klaus and he genuinely believes you should be too, or else. During their disastrous first meeting, Caroline puts his balls in a vice and he's like "Is this flirting?" and then proceeds to send her coded love messages while trying to murder her. Kol being Klaus' brother and her best friend only adds to the spice of their clashes and he is always, always on her side, often with knives.
Okay so, about that breathing on Caroline thing. When Klaus falls in love, as he inevitably does, it is intense, and weird, and prone to stalking. Manipulating himself into Caroline's life and investigations is just the start, and boy howdy does he end up with guns in his face for that. Enzo is absolutely not amused at this schmuck rat bastard sniffing around Caroline's skirts. But there may also be only one bed on a stakeout.
As always, please give the Tim/Kol subplot a try since my Intense Gay Yearning whined so pathetically for it. They are happy queer murder lads just out for a gay ol' time and absolutely will kneecap a motherfucker for kicks! Rebekah's several dead (possibly poisoned) husbands are absolutely not having a good time, but Katherine, the madame she's enjoying her nights with, certainly is. Elijah would just like his family to chill tf out for like two seconds and maybe sit for tea.
There's also like, the whole entire fucking Jack the Ripper murder mystery plot supported with accurate newspaper clippings and police reports bc Jenn just balls that hard for authenticity. It's great, and creepy, and as always there are pickled organs and graphic descriptions of entrails!
Anyways this entire cast could (and would) murder me and I'd be grateful for the experience. You have not enjoyed a Holmes!AU until you've read this one and Caroline has dragged you around London along with her homicidal posse of lovestruck idiots. Please read this fic.
Thanks again @klaroline-events ! I said i would be late, I know I'm bad at this!
Runner's Up! Somebody That I Used To Know by @thetourguidebarbie : Klaus the mafia kingpin is accused of a murder he actually didn't commit and he crawls right to his ex gf Caroline's door for help in clearing his name. Caroline miiight just let the dog eat him. Tragically unfinished but delightful!
Dirty Little Secret by @she-walked-away : okay but in my defense the smut is just that damn good. Secret high school closet fucking between head cheerleader Caroline and art nerd Klaus? Longing looks across the cafeteria? Emotional rule breaking and Bad Decisions? Yes please!
Literally anything AH mafia related by @cupcakemolotov : She knows what she did and it was a direct hit against me and me specifically.

hey do u have any hockey-fic recommendations from ao3? 😊 (any kinds are welcomed; fluff, smut, nothing sexual, or anything in between)
I have so many! First, go check my (=caixa) bookmarks on ao3.
Then, because linking is a bitch, I searched my rec tag on my main blog (caixxa) and copy-pasted some here (some may be on my bookmarks too)
It’s long, warning!
lettering: a how-to by fyborg23 for caixa seriously deserves more love! i’ll gladly admit this has influenced the vibe of camera ready despite being a very different work - canon setting, different pov, mature rating (but the work is still sexy as hell and HOT!).
“Sebby’s a heartbreaker” is a line permanently burned under my skin, so thank you for writing it to me, @hastybooks.
(seb/rod)
Silk in the Boy - Men’s Hockey RPF [Archive of Our Own]By Organization for Transformative Works
So, guess who got a gift that makes me think that oh, I either DO write some pretty accurate requests or then somebody knows my taste embarrassingly well? Anyway, I’m grinning like an idiot. I may also be trash but ha fucking ha, if it gets me something like this then o-kay.
(seb/tt)
27. favorite fanfic author of the year
I’ve been a terribly inconsistent reader this year. I barely read more than one fic from one writer even if I love the story, and even when I love the story I don’t necessarily remember later whose it was.
Sorry!
That said, I DO have some that I can list here.
I will dearly miss bauer! I’m afraid she has grown tired of the hockey rpf fandom and is rediscovering herself somewhere else. I don’t know where that is and it sucks. I hope I’m jumping to conclusions and this is just a break, but her blog @bauerbump (the only porn blog I needed) is gone, the latest fic  Glad You Made It is from May and the two comments I left on that fic last week are unanswered.  European Son is also from this year and I read Little Red and Neck this year, too. Daring, often dark and twisted, brilliantly written.
raregoose / @raregoose wrote the best Patrik Laine fics (hockey rpf) I read this year,  do you think that i want too much? and  and possibly i like the thrill.
absinthine has written seb/teuvo fics that make me just green of envy, unfold and  waiting for the tides to meet. The same could be said about cjmasim for  wanted to believe that there was room for me.
1 and 24 for the fanfic ask thingy :)
1. favorite fic you wrote this year
I already answered this once and mentioned Tappiolla tappiin and  Letters from a new home to give two language options but I’ll take my chance and add  his boner is a foot-long concrete dildo because it exhilarates me that people love to read about leafs cheating, taking drugs and peeing on each other so much. I’m super glad I wrote and posted that quick little piece of filth because it regularly gives me a confidence boost by gathering new kudos.
(tappiolla tappiin is in finnish only! Letters from a new home is a plot-driven canes historical/supernatural AU fic and the last one marner/martin)
24. favorite fic you read this year
Seriously I’ve read many great fics and picking one favorite is hard! The ones in this post and this post are valid but I’ll add  OTGWG. because reading it really  picked me up on a horribly bad day. I was so thrilling to see a ship that I had created taking life in the hands of another, skilled writer. It would fit the Sour grapes universe seamlessly, it has exactly the same energy as the end of Pinot Noir and I couldn’t be more humbled or prouder if I had written it myself.
(otgwg and my own sour grapes series are seb/wardo fics)
First, this is the one I praise every chance i get: Why we fight by lllookalive. An absolutely brilliant, beautiful, real, funny, exciting and sexy high school au. I was intrigued by the summary and am eternally grateful I started following the story even though in the beginning I hardly knew who most of the players the characters are based upon are.
In the fic Boston Bruins, Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks are exceptionally cleverly transformed to rival high schools and their hockey teams, and the players pair up in most surprising ways. Players from other teams make frequent appearances, too - the ensemble is one of the widest I’ve met. For realism, there are straight and bi characters and I think it’s really cool. It’s beautifully written, the world-building and the characterization of these heart-breakingly teenage boys and their families is just phenomenal. Geno flirting to Patrice Bergeron by calling him Prince Patrice is some of the sweetest romance I’ve come across. And the smell of dill and rich yeasty rye bread dough in the kitchen of his Russian family restaurant! Oh!
I kind of wish I was still living the time this fic was posted twice a week, i really waited for the new update! Now it’s finished, all 78 chapters, more than 200 000 words.
Next, some quick sex & drugs. I was pleasantly surprised the other day when I found this, Start Real Slow by coricomile in my ao3 reading history, I thought I’d never find it again because I didn’t even remember what characters it had. (I was mildly disappointed to notice that it was another Toews/Kane fic, but what can you do, in hockey rpf you waddle through a sea of those (and Sid x Genos, Matts x Marns’s, tbh) to find anything else). But anyway, it was a hilariously written little piece of two rookies smoking weed and ending up experimenting on oral sex.
And speaking of Mitch Marner, || by bauer has one adventurous Leafs rookie, Matt Martin and some white lines.
hope this helps! i’m too tired to edit this better and i hope some of the good ones not included in this post are in my bookmarks & not private.

These Grey Stars Above Us (Ten x Rose)
Rating: Teen
Chapter: 1/?
Rose Tyler is a young lady of standing in society, and thinks little of marriage. She meets Dr. Johnathan Smith, a former soldier with taste for little else besides whiskey and reading. She finds herself intrigued by him and wonders if she can draw him out and bring him back into society
HISTORICAL NOTE**************** I made up the war for the purposes of plot, so there was no war like the one I describe in Victorian times.
Read it on AO3 Here!
****************
“Have you heard the news?” Rose’s mother asked her as the two of them sat sewing in the parlor as Rose’s father met with some noblemen from the area.
Rose blinked and looked up at her mother. “No, I suppose I haven’t,” she said, furrowing her brows a little. “What news?”
“The boys are coming back from war!” Lady Tyler smiled, “Since everything has been righted, and peace treaties signed, we can go back to our normal lives.”
Rose smiled. “Brilliant,” She said, not willing to point out to her mother that there was much rebuilding to be done (that she intended to be a part of, whether her mother wanted her to or not) and said instead, “So we’ll be seeing Jack around here again soon?”
“And other, more eligible young men,” Lady Tyler said with an arched eyebrow.
Rose found her smile slipping. She was not truly interested in marrying yet.  She felt she had much more life to live before she was tied down to a man and a house.  She wished to travel, but she knew her mother would never allow it, and since Rose didn’t have any funds of her own, she was going to have to be content to live the life that had been planned for her since she had been born.
“I am not quite ready for marriage,” she protested weakly, and her mother made an odd noise in the back of her throat, signalling that she was not quite pleased with what her daughter said.
“I think you are quite ready,” Lady Tyler said, “You are educated, and very strong, and quite beautiful.  And you are nearly twenty one.”
“Oh, so there is a deadline now?”
“If you are not married people will wonder if there is something wrong with you,” Lady Tyler snapped back, “So you might as well put an effort into finding someone that you like.”
“Is that what you did with father?”
She sniffed, seeming to consider that for a moment. “Most marriages are born out of politics, my dear, and you would do well to pick someone you enjoy as well as someone who will take care of you into the following years.”
Rose wrinkled her nose. Her mother hadn't really answered her question. “And?”
     “And what?”
“Is that what you found in father?”
“I suppose in the end, yes,” her mother replied.  She changed the subject quickly however, saying, “and since all the eligible men are coming home, there shall be a banquet and dance to celebrate! And of course, we shall be in attendance.”
“Of course,” Rose said a little lamely. She wasn't good at dances. She was clumsy and always felt very out of place.  Well, perhaps she wasn’t exactly clumsy, but she really felt as though she was, and the men who wanted to dance with her were obviously after her family for what they had.  All marriages were so political, and Rose hated it.  Her mother was right, that she should find someone that she could tolerate before she was forced to settle down. There was not much that she knew she wanted, if she was completely honest.
“So we…  We must attend tonight?  Where will it be held?” Rose asked politely, pondering who, exactly, she would be talking to tonight, and who she would have to put on a smile for.
“Yes,” her mother said patiently, “It will be held at the Noble estate, you know, since Sylvia Noble’s adoptive son is coming home.  Hm, actually, he might already have returned!”
“That would be James, yes?”
“Yes, a very nice young man.”
“I know, I have correspondence with his sister, Donna.  We speak on occasion.” She looked at her mother. “You know I have very few friends.”
“Yes,” her mother said, seeming a little uncomfortable, “But there was little time for friends.”
“It was not that there was little time,” Rose replied, “It is that I do not get along well with the members of society here.  I am not like them.”
“We will see tonight,” Lady Tyler said simply.
Rose sighed, knowing that there was not a lot of choice in the matter for her.  She sighed and went back to her sewing.
**************
That night, Rose was dressed by her servant, a young girl named Amelia, who Rose regarded as her dearest friend, even though their stations were wildly different.
“Well, I will be there tonight as well, to wait on you and your mother,” Amelia said, “And I know some people at the Noble household, so I won’t be lonely or anything.”  She smiled at Rose in the mirror as she styled her hair into a curled updo with pieces hanging down, framing her face.
“So you will not stay with me?” Rose asked.
“Oh, well,” Amelia shrugged, “I thought you might be looking for someone.”
“And who?”
Amelia smiled. “Your mother tells me that Dr. Noble is a very attractive man.”
Rose blushed. “Amelia, I haven’t even met him. He could be terrible, or a horrible flirt, like Jack.”
“Oh, I am excited to see Jack again,” Amelia laughed, “Life has not been as comedic without him around.’ Rose had to agree. Jack was at their estate often, to have tea or to trade horrible jokes with Rose’s father.  She had missed him terribly, but he also sent letters, so his presence was always near, in a way.  He had been a brother like figure to Rose for a long time, and got on very well with Amelia as well, but she had made it clear that he was not going to be receiving anything from her, as she still had an honor to protect and hoped for marriage. “You should meet Dr. Noble,” Amelia said, shaking Rose’s shoulder a little to get her attention again.  “He is very successful, and quite available, as the odds are.”
Rose raised her eyebrow at her friend in the mirror. “Hm,” She tilted her head, pretending to contemplate it.  “Ah, yes, but he has definitely had his share of female attentions,” She said, “Being that he is so successful.”
“He has taken on no courtships!” Amelia replied, patting Rose’s shoulder before going back to pinning her hair, “You should talk to him.”
“And what will you do if I do not?” Rose asked.
“I shall be very disappointed,” Amelia said, “Because I hope to visit with Rory and I would hate to be married before you.”
It was a little hint that Rose would have to be married before Amelia could quit.  Well, it was not a necessity, but Amelia did not want to leave Rose on her own before she was married, and Rose did want Amelia to have what she wanted.  She deserved it, after all.
“Do you fancy Rory?” Rose asked.
“It is too early to tell,” Amelia shrugged. “He is a fine looking man, and seems quite nice, but it is… He may not want to begin a courtship with me, since I am a servant.”
“If that is a reason for him not to court you, then you do not want to court him,” Rose said, frowning.  “But you will speak to him tonight?” “Yes,” Amelia said, blushing a little. Rose never saw her looking shy, so it put a smile on her face that she might have found someone who caught her interest.  She refused to meet Rose’s eyes and said, “Now stop distracting me, we need to get you ready to leave.”
*******
The moment the Tyler family got to the Noble estate, Amelia murmured to Rose that she would be around should she need any assitance.  Rose had barely turned to her to say something before she was gone, approaching some of the other servants.
Rose smiled a little and looked back at her mother and father, who were watching her carefully, as though waiting for her to do something that would embarrass them.
They were introduced and led down to the banquet hall, and Lady Tyler grabbed Rose’s arm the moment they approached one of the tables.
“There is Dr. Noble,” she said, gesturing to a young man with dark hair and eyes that will brown and quite haunted.
“I would like to speak to Donna first,” Rose said to her mother. “I am not here to simply speak to Dr. Noble.”
“He was a good soldier, so I have heard,” Lord Tyler said softly, “But a soldier’s duties are painful. It would be best to let him alone a bit, so you not think so?” He asked, facing his wife.
Lady Tyler had the decency to look guilty, as she had only been thinking about the party that would occur and not the events that brought on such a celebration. Of course, Dr. Noble had gone through terrible things, and struggled through the war. Rose felt her heart go out to him in a way.  She hoped he would not sink into a depression, as soldiers often did.
Lord and Lady Tyler went to greet the Nobles and Rose spotted Donna, and made her way over to her. When Donna made eye contact with her, she smiled happily and waved her over. She embraced Rose warmly and pulled back quickly.
“You look positively lovely!” She said, giving her upper arms a little squeeze. “I hope you find this party as dreadful as I do.”
“Of course I do,” Rose said, laughing. “Of course, we haven't sat down to dinner yet, and that might be brilliant.”
“Dinner is always brilliant,” Donna nodded gravely. “You will sit with me, won’t you?”
“Yes, of course,” Rose said, excited at the prospect of spending more time with her friend, since she never truly saw her. It was a bit annoying to not be able to go anywhere without a chaperone.  It made going for visits difficult and somewhat uncomfortable.
“I do apologize, but my positively rotten brother will be at our table,” Donna said, but she was smiling.  It was clear that she was fond of her brother but perhaps she was a bit annoyed with him for some reason.
“Well, he’s just come back from the war, hasn’t he?”
“Yes, he has, but that does not make him any less miserable,” Donna’s brows furrowed in worry.  “Perhaps he will maintain a conversation tonight.  He hasn’t really, since he got home,” She said, “Of course, he speaks, but not extensively enough for our mother to be happy about it.  But never mind that, this is supposed to be a celebration.”
“It is,” Rose agreed, “But that does not mean that the men did not have a hard time.”
Donna thought about that for a moment, and then nodded. “I suppose that’s true,” she said, and took her friend by the arm.  “Come, sit between my brother and me, it will protect you from our horrible friends.”
Rose laughed again. Of course, Donna was not anything like the lords and ladies that haunted these parties, their eyes just as vacant as their heads. It was positively ridiculous, really, and Donna seemed to understand that more than anyone else besides her.  They were lucky they got along so well and were not simply annoyed by each other.
On the other hand, though, Rose was more and more intrigued by this Dr. Noble the more that people talked about him.  He seemed to be dark and mysterious, and she wondered why.  He was also quite sad, and Rose wished that things had been different for him, if he felt so terribly.
He stood when he saw Rose and his sister coming.  Donna stepped out from Rose and said, in her most dignified voice, “Miss Rose Tyler, this is my brother, Dr. Jonathan Noble.”
Rose offered her hand to him, and he took it in his and kissed the back of her knuckles. “A pleasure,” he said, his tenor voice rumbling through her.  Those eyes drew her in again, and she almost forgot to let go of his hand.
“The pleasure is mine,” She replied.
“Miss Tyler will sit between us at dinner, if that is alright with you,” Donna interjected, unknowingly bringing Rose back to reality with her words.
Dr. Noble turned to her and nodded. “Of course. We would love to have you accompany us at our table. Have your parents come tonight?”
Rose nodded. “Yes, they are seated over there, though, and I shan’t expect them to worry about me. They expected I would sit with Donna.”
Dr. Noble nodded. “Well, then, my lady, thank you for gracing our table instead of theirs.”  He pulled out her chair and then Donna’s before seating himself, missing the wide eyed shock on his sister’s face.
Perhaps, Rose thought, this ‘celebration’ would be more interesting than she had previously thought.

Looking Forward // May 2017
Welcome to another dose of torture where I reveal all the books I’m excited to be released this month and try and not preorder them all (seriously, it’s a lesson in self-restraint) this month you may think I’m missing a couple of glaringly obvious new releases I should be making grabby hands at but I want to remind you all I go by UK release date whenever possible because those are the copies I want to get my hands on (no offense, US, but your editions are too expensive for my tastes). So, that means I’m not including Emery Lord’s new book or When Dimple Met Rishi as they are released on 1st June here. I just feel a need to put that disclaimer in now.
Always and Forever, Lara Jean – Jenny Han
Genre: Contemporary, Romance, Young Adult
Release Date: 2nd May 2017
Ramona Blue – Julie Murphy
Genre: Contemporary, LGBTQ, Young Adult
Release Date: 9th May 2017
Lara Jean’s letter-writing days aren’t over in this surprise follow-up to the New York Times bestselling To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and P.S. I Still Love You.
Lara Jean is having the best senior year a girl could ever hope for. She is head over heels in love with her boyfriend, Peter; her dad’s finally getting remarried to their next door neighbor, Ms. Rothschild; and Margot’s coming home for the summer just in time for the wedding.
But change is looming on the horizon. And while Lara Jean is having fun and keeping busy helping plan her father’s wedding, she can’t ignore the big life decisions she has to make. Most pressingly, where she wants to go to college and what that means for her relationship with Peter. She watched her sister Margot go through these growing pains. Now Lara Jean’s the one who’ll be graduating high school and leaving for college and leaving her family—and possibly the boy she loves—behind.
When your heart and your head are saying two different things, which one should you listen to?
Ramona was only five years old when Hurricane Katrina changed her life forever.
Since then, it’s been Ramona and her family against the world. Standing over six feet tall with unmistakable blue hair, Ramona is sure of three things: she likes girls, she’s fiercely devoted to her family, and she knows she’s destined for something bigger than the trailer she calls home in Eulogy, Mississippi. But juggling multiple jobs, her flaky mom, and her well-meaning but ineffectual dad forces her to be the adult of the family. Now, with her sister, Hattie, pregnant, responsibility weighs more heavily than ever.
The return of her childhood friend Freddie brings a welcome distraction. Ramona’s friendship with the former competitive swimmer picks up exactly where it left off, and soon he’s talked her into joining him for laps at the pool. But as Ramona falls in love with swimming, her feelings for Freddie begin to shift too, which is the last thing she expected. With her growing affection for Freddie making her question her sexual identity, Ramona begins to wonder if perhaps she likes girls and guys or if this new attraction is just a fluke. Either way, Ramona will discover that, for her, life and love are more fluid than they seem.
Why Am I Excited?
I began reading this series because it was about a girl accidentally having love letters sent out and a fake relationship. I kept reading because of the cliffhanger. And now? Now, I’m just really in love with Peter and Lara Jean. They are the cutest couple and the covers on these books are stunning. Like, so stunning they are amazing. I would love to see all the outtakes of the photo shoots because they are amazing.
Why Am I Excited?
I mean, I’ve not read any of Julie Murphy’s books but I have heard good things and this one sounds like it will be good and great exploration of a character discovering her own sexuality. It’s too easy to think you know exactly what your sexuality is at a young age when really being a teenager is the time for self-discovery. It’ll be interesting to see how this is all explored in the book.
Flame in the Mist – Renee Ahdieh
Genre: Fantasy, Historical, Young Adult
Release Date: 16th May 2017
In A Perfect World – Trish Doller
Genre: Contemporary, Romance, Young Adult
Release Date: 23rd May 2017
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Wrath and the Dawn, comes a sweeping, action-packed YA adventure set against the backdrop of Feudal Japan.
Mariko has always known that being a woman means she's not in control of her own fate. But Mariko is the daughter of a prominent samurai and a cunning alchemist in her own right, and she refuses to be ignored. When she is ambushed by a group of bandits known as the Black Clan enroute to a political marriage to Minamoto Raiden - the emperor's son - Mariko realises she has two choices: she can wait to be rescued... or she can take matters into her own hands, hunt down the clan and find the person who wants her dead.
Disguising herself as a peasant boy, Mariko infiltrates the Black Clan's hideout and befriends their leader, the rebel ronin Ranmaru, and his second-in-command, Okami. Ranmaru and Okami warm to Mariko, impressed by her intellect and ingenuity. But as Mariko gets closer to the Black Clan, she uncovers a dark history of secrets that will force her to question everything she's ever known.
Caroline Kelly is excited to be spending her summer vacation working at the local amusement park with her best friend, exploring weird Ohio with her boyfriend, and attending soccer camp with the hope she’ll be her team’s captain in the fall.
But when Caroline’s mother is hired to open an eye clinic in Cairo, Egypt, Caroline’s plans are upended. Caroline is now expected to spend her summer and her senior year in a foreign country, away from her friends, her home, and everything she’s ever known.
With this move, Caroline predicts she’ll spend her time navigating crowded streets, eating unfamiliar food, and having terrible bouts of homesickness. But when she finds instead is a culture that surprises her, a city that astounds her, and a charming, unpredictable boy who challenges everything she thought she knew about life, love, and privilege.
Why Am I Excited?
I really enjoyed The Wrath and the Dawn so I am excited to see more writing from Ahdieh. I am always hesitant over books set in different cultures, like this one being set in Feudal Japan but I’m confident it will be written well with good research (please don’t disappoint).
Why Am I Excited?
Okay, Egypt is a country which has never held much interest for me. I’ve never had a strong urge to visit and so I can totally relate to the MCs unhappiness at going so I am really interested in the idea of her warming to the country upon moving and discovering things she didn’t expect.
Also, I really love Trish Doller’s writing. I still haven’t read her last book (oops) but I am totally there for all she writes because she writes it well whatever she does!

Nevada Baylor has a unique and secret skill—she knows when people are lying—and she's used that magic (along with plain, hard work) to keep her colorful and close-knit family's detective agency afloat. But her new case pits her against the shadowy forces that almost destroyed the city of Houston once before, bringing Nevada back into contact with Connor "Mad" Rogan.
Rogan is a billionaire Prime—the highest rank of magic user—and as unreadable as ever, despite Nevada's "talent." But there's no hiding the sparks between them. Now that the stakes are even higher, both professionally and personally, and their foes are unimaginably powerful, Rogan and Nevada will find that nothing burns like ice . . .
Desi Lee knows how carburetors work. She learned CPR at the age of five. As a high school senior, she has never missed a day of school and has never had a B in her entire life. She's for sure going to Stanford. But—she’s never had a boyfriend. In fact, she’s a disaster in romance, a clumsy, stammering humiliation-magnet whose botched attempts at flirting have become legendary with her friends. So when the hottest human specimen to have ever lived walks into her life one day, Desi decides to tackle her flirting failures with the same zest she’s applied to everything else in her life. She finds her answer in the Korean dramas her father has been obsessively watching for years—where the hapless heroine always seems to end up in the arms of her true love by episode ten. It's a simple formula, and Desi is a quick study. Armed with her “K Drama Rules for True Love,” Desi goes after the moody, elusive artist Luca Drakos—and boat rescues, love triangles, and fake car crashes ensue. But when the fun and games turn to true feels, Desi finds out that real love is about way more than just drama.
Why Am I Excited?
I have been excited for this book since 2015! 2015!
That was back when I thought this book was going to be released not long after and I would get to read and then it was delayed. You would not believe how long I’ve been waiting for this book. I am going to devour it when it’s released. I am tempted to book a day off work to do just that but people would think it was weird.
Look, Burn For Me and White Hot and the next book, Wildfire, have terrible covers but they are so, so, sooooo good that you really need to read the first one if you haven’t already. I read it because of Danya (see, you’re recs often do work out but I didn’t expect this 10000 years of waiting business) and I have no regrets about reading. It is the best.
Why Am I Excited?
I am a girl who loves me a good K-drama. I mean, they are seriously addictive with their crazy OTT storylines and swoony romances that get dragged out for more episodes than necessary but you can’t stop watching. You have the ridiculous storylines which would never work in real life but are crazy addictive to watch on TV and they would never be made into UK shows (or US ones really) but you wouldn’t want them to because they would lose all their charm and they wouldn’t work in the same way.
As such, when I saw there was a book about a Korean American who decides to follow the rules of K-drama in her love life I knew I had to read. I am so crazy excited I’m currently contemplating pre-ordering because I want to read this that bad.

While you were sleeping...
With her brother Thomas injured on the battlefront in the Colonies, orphaned Cecilia Harcourt has two unbearable choices: move in with a maiden aunt or marry a scheming cousin. Instead, she chooses option three and travels across the Atlantic, determined to nurse her brother back to health. But after a week of searching, she finds not her brother but his best friend, the handsome officer Edward Rokesby. He's unconscious and in desperate need of her care, and Cecilia vows that she will save this soldier's life, even if staying by his side means telling one little lie...
I told everyone I was your wife
When Edward comes to, he's more than a little confused. The blow to his head knocked out six months of his memory, but surely he would recall getting married. He knows who Cecilia Harcourt is—even if he does not recall her face—and with everyone calling her his wife, he decides it must be true, even though he'd always assumed he'd marry his neighbor back in England.
If only it were true...
Cecilia risks her entire future by giving herself—completely—to the man she loves. But when the truth comes out, Edward may have a few surprises of his own for the new Mrs. Rokesby.
Love. Lies. Murder. A lot can happen... COME SUNDOWN
Bodine Longbow loves to rise with the dawn. As the manager of her family's resort in Western Montana, there just aren't enough hours in the day - for life, for work, for loved ones. She certainly doesn't have time for love, not even in the gorgeous shape of her childhood crush Callen Skinner, all grown up and returned to the ranch. Then again, maybe Callen can change her mind, given time...
But when a young woman's body is discovered on resort land, everything changes. Callen falls under the suspicion of a deputy sheriff with a grudge. And for Bodine's family, the murder is a shocking reminder of an old loss. Twenty-five years ago, Bodine's Aunt Alice vanished, never to be heard of again. Could this new tragedy be connected to Alice's mysterious disappearance?
As events take a dramatic and deadly turn, Bodine and Callen must race to uncover the truth - before the sun sets on their future together.
Why Am I Excited?
I feel like the name Julia Quinn should be enough to be excited about this book. But if it’s not then it’s also for the whole fake married thing as well. I have been excited about this book ever since the buddy read I did with Danya and Kaja and hot damn I need to get on reading this (also, guys, we need another buddy read, they make even the worst book good).
Why Am I Excited?
I have only ever read one Nora Roberts and it was fantastic. I got emailed about this book a while back and missed out on a physical ARC (damn my need to work stopping me from replying to emails) and I’ve been excited ever since. Luckily, I got approved on Netgalley for it and plan to read sharpish so either way, I get to enjoy.
I’ve not read much romantic suspense but it’s definitely one of those genres I know I’ll love because it’s my kind of genre. I like the mystery to go with my romance and it gives a bit more depth for when you’re fatigued by contemporary.
Wow, there really are a lot of books coming out on the end of the month, aren’t there? It will be a busy day for me, I was joking but maybe I really should take a day off and read.
Anyway, have a missed off any important releases? Which books are you excited to get started with in May?
