I think I mentioned that I was looking into getting a better sewing machine? well, it arrived today 🙈 that happened much faster than planned. I found the model I was looking at at a (relatively) local sewing machine store, for 30% off because it had been in the shop window, so the plastic has yellowed.
I wasn't sure how I felt about that (the website only said it was a floor model or something similar, then someone from the store called and told me the specifics and asked if that was still okay), but honestly? I never ever would have paid the full price, it was just too much, I couldn't justify that. but this reduced price was only a little more than the ones I had been looking at before (that were not great quality and probably wouldn't last very long).
I am very particular about things like this but I'm trying to make myself accept that it really is not that bad. it actually looks kinda cool. I just have to get my brain to accept that it's not a flaw, it's just a completely superficial and insignificant thing that doesn't affect its function at all. it's good that this machine that works perfectly won't end up in a landfill just because it doesn't look brand new.
I only got to try it a little bit today because I wasn't feeling well but damn, the difference to my old machine is huge!! it's so much more fun and easy to use - I love having the needle threader and that it can automatically cut the yarn when you're done. and with the start/stop button it's actually really fun to wind bobbins!! I always hated that on my old machine.
I skimmed through the manual earlier (and put page markers in it so that I can easily find anything later) - it did seem somewhat overwhelming at first. I've never used or even seen (irl) a computerised sewing machine, so of course it did! but it already felt much more familiar after just using it a little bit today. I love it 🥰
(also, I think the fact that it doesn't look perfect and brand new actually helps - I'm not afraid to use it in case I 'ruin' it!)
#I really hope I'll use it a lot#I didn't use my old one much because it was just such a hassle.#mainly little things that didn't work right#and something as simple as the way you have to thread it not being labeled clearly on the machine itself#I've got memory issues and found that very annoying (and in the end I drew the instructions on with sharpie because it got so frustrating)#I've also bought a.. probably stupid amount of little sewing things that I've wanted for years.#and an iron (got the old one second hand for 5€ and it will not stop dripping). and a set of thread (I only had thread that was old and/or#really bad quality. I can only get about 5 colours locally AND it's pretty expensive. so a set made sense... 😬)#it's the same thing every time. I get (more) into a hobby. I buy every fucking thing. I do it all day every day until it stops being the#most interesting thing on earth. and then I pick it up again like once a year but always feel guilty for not doing it enough#annnnyway#I'm very excited about all of it right now#I'm hoping it'll last a while#I mean. I've been interested in sewing for over a decade. I just never had enough money to really get into it the way I'd like#so. I don't think it'll ever completely go away at least#I've bought a bunch of vintage sewing patterns on ebay and I'm really excited to try them#I'm thinking I'll do some baby clothes first - I don't know any babies at the moment but baby clothes are small and also very adorable#so even if I mess up they'd still look cute 😂#and I wouldn't have wasted too much fabric haha#personal

Baby punks!
Listen up. I got a few tips and stuff.
1: Thrift everything. I'm not even remotely kidding. You can go MILES with the shit available at thrift stores and only spend like 10 bucks. I go to Goodwill about once a week and I find more than I even really need.
If you wanna make patches but don't have anything to cut up, just buy like 3 pairs of jeans for like 3 dollars and you'll be set up for a while. Cloth, clothes, gadgets, wallets, jackets, even shoes. If you're worried that punk is "expensive", you're not looking in the right places.
2: Five Below. They have really solid fabric paints and stencils you can get. Also check out Joann's and Michael's. They got needles, embroidery floss, fabric paints, fabrics, etc. But be wary about those two, prices are up due to inflation.
3: YouTube tutorials are your friend!! If you're confused about how to do something, take to the web. You won't get all your answers, but you sure will find how to attach a zipper to your pants.
4: Dental floss. This is brought up every time in these discussions because it works. If you need to sew something onto your pants, jacket, whatever, use dental floss. You can snatch some up at CVS. It is very helpful.
5: Find a jacket with wide armpits. Especially if it's denim and especially if you plan on adding zip-off sleeves. ESPECIALLY if you have armpit hair. Just trust me on this.
6: Do you drink soda/beer/other canned beverages? Because if you do, save them. The cans, the tabs, all of it. It can be very useful. The cans, you can turn into spikes. The tabs can be helpful for zippers, chainmail, whatever you might use them for.
7: Believe in what you're saying. Don't just claim you stand for human rights, put it into action. Learn. Understand that some women, black people, and/or other minorities are gonna be hesitant to trust you and understand why. Know when it is your turn to participate in a conversation, and don't force your way into a community or conversation that isn't yours. You're going to be in a strange place where you've been pushed away from all the bigots in your life but can't go to other minority communities because they don't know whether or not you can be trusted. And don't try to make them know that you're "one of the good whites/men/etc". You're gonna need to find community and put weight behind your words. A friend or a relative says something just a little bit off? Don't laugh it off, make them know it was wrong (my go-to is to stare at them in silence the moment they say it and not budge until they repent the comment). Nobody's gonna trust you unless you mean what you say.
8: Don't listen to the gatekeepers. Anybody who tells you "oh well, that's not really punk, you're a poser!" Is missing the point and is hence the real poser.
9: Participate in the culture! Really! Go to playlists, find local bands. Go to a punk show. Make friends, participate in rallies/protests.
10: Be you! Seriously, be you. Whatever you think would look cool or would be comfy, do it. Literally, if you wanna turn a winter coat into a battle jacket, go for it. The key to punk is expression. Don't feel like you've gotta meet up to everyone else's standards. Punk fashion should be a tool to help you find yourself and what you're comfortable in, what you enjoy. If you're doing something to fit in, you're doing it wrong, and you're doing yourself a disservice.

I keep thinking everyone knows the exact same information as me, but since I'm about to make more posts about textiles and clothing, as I'm reading the book on them, I'm going to write down some basic information, just in case it's not very common, because a lot of this I only gathered recently. If I get something wrong please correct me in a kind way!
So where does the clothing come from, and how do we make it? During most of the history, textiles were made by women, from natural materials; flax, wool, cotton, silk, jute. Recently we started using more synthetic materials, like acrylic, polyester, nylon, spandex. If you want to make clothing from the natural materials, like wool or cotton, they first need to be processed, cleaned and combed, then spun into yarn, or thread. Spinning is the process where women manage to pull a thin part of the material and spin the fibres into one consistent, firm thread. It's super impressive to watch them do it and I have no idea how they manage to make it consistent, I've not yet tried to do it myself.
Once the thread is done, it can be made into a textile by knitting, crochet, or weaving. There are also other more complex, decorative methods, like tatting or lacing.
For knitting, you need two needles, or a special circular needle, or, there are also knitting machines, which you can use to make woolen fabric. For weaving, you need a loom. For crochet, you need a crochet hook. While knitting and weaving can be done by a machine, crochet can only be done by hand. Woven fabrics are firm, sturdy, durable, and not stretchy, while knit fabric is the most stretchy and soft. I'm not sure about crochet since I only have one crochet garment, but mine is very sturdy!
All of these methods were historically done by women; families were able to grow flax plants close to their homes, and women would then create linens, woven textiles made from processed flax, which was used to make sheets and clothing. Linen was specifically useful in keeping people clean, since it's very good at absorbing moisture. Used as an under-garment, it was capable of absorbing sweat, and protecting the outer layers, which were not washed. Experiments have shown that frequently changing into clean linen was more effective at keeping clean than showering and then putting on the same clothing back on.
Women's ability to create clothing was sadly exploited, and women were even banned to sell it commercially, or from competing at the commercial market, but their husbands were allowed to profit off of their craft.
In the USA, cotton was the most produced material, however for this too people were enslaved and exploited; cotton took human labour to grow, harvest and process, it also required a lot of water, and caused destruction of environment, because of the chemicals used in it's growth, and the unsustainability of monocrops.
Creating a piece of clothing out of textiles, or sewing, is a process that still cannot be completely automated; while you can use a sewing machine, you cannot make a machine that would produce a whole garment out of textiles. No mass-produced piece of clothing was sewn by a machine, it always has to be made by a human being. This is why a lot of the sewing labour is currently outsourced to third-world countries and companies use modern slavery in order to create fast fashion; there is no machine that can do it, so by the rules of capitalism, the companies are trying to get that labour as cheap as possible, often at the cost of human lives.
We didn't use to have as many garments as we do today, in the 18th century people would have two outfits, one for normal days of the week, and one for Sunday. The clothing they owned was usually made to fit them exactly, either by a female member of the family, or a seamstress, and these garments were made to last them for decades. As clothing became cheaper to buy than to make at home, and more of it became mass-produced, people started acquiring more of it, but also using it for lesser period of time. This would eventually grow into a bigger problem, due to the amount of chemicals and labour used to grow, process, dye and sew the garments, and the amount of waste we were starting to accumulate.
Introduction of synthetic materials, like acrylic, made the yarn and the textiles much cheaper, however it lacks the important properties natural materials have. Do you ever notice how synthetic garments sometimes continue smelling bad even after you wash them? That is because they'll absorb sweat, but become hydrophobic when wet, meaning they will take in your sweat, but refuse to let it go once they're in the water. This means that the longer you have them, the worst their stink becomes. This, of course, can be hidden by the generous use of scented fabric softener, but it won't exactly make the garment clean. This information I've learned recently, but it helped me identify what were the most synthetic pieces of clothing I had. Acrylic clothing had also proven to shed 1.5 more microplastics than any other polyester when put into the washing machine.
Having our clothing grown, processed, spun, woven/knit, and then sewn far out of sight, it's possible to lose the sight of where it came from, or how it's made. Only by trying to do it yourself, or learning closely about the process can one learn to appreciate what a monumental task it is, to create fabric, or a garment. Other than the synthetic textiles, of which I still know very little of, all of the natural clothing is a product of plants and animals, it takes land, farming, agriculture and water to grow the plants, raise the animals, and then labour to process and spin the fibres. It's also something people used to do in their gardens, inside of their homes, something that was normal for women to do, and to trade for anything else they needed, saving them from having to work for wages. Women making fabric was always to the benefit of everyone around them, while m*n taking over the industry and doing it commercially, ultimately brought slave labour to a lot of people, cheap and low quality garments to the select few, and money to the hands of the exploiters.
Being curious about clothing and what becomes of it, is a big benefit to the environment and the future of the earth! Knowing what the textile industry is doing, and how does it affect the planet, can be a great motivator to try and sew, or upcycle and mend clothing, or create garments. It's presented to us as something women were forced to do in the past, and it's connected to 'feminine hobbies', but in actuality, it is power to create something humans cannot do without. Women in the past used it's power too, whenever they could. And we are the only ones who ever used this power for good.

I love AMC's "Interview with the Vampire" tv show so much that I wanted to show my appreciation by sewing my interpretation of Claudia's New Year's Eve outfit from episode 7. The scene is barely a minute long, with Claudia's costume only partly visible for a few seconds, however, so there wasn't much footage to go on.
Thankfully, though, the costume designer for the show, Carol Cutshall, shares incredible details of the vintage inspirations, costume design, and behind the scenes photos on her Instagram page after the episodes air, and shared details of this outfit along with sketches and behind the scenes photos of the actress, Bailey Bass!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'd like to stress that this is not cosplay - I'm not trying to BE the actress or the character, but sewing my own interpretation of the garments. I try to avoid sewing "fast fashion" as much as I avoid buying it, and I strive to only have clothing in my wardrobe that I will wear again and again.
Tumblr media
Cape: Pattern: self-drafted Fabric: Italian floral silk/polyamide cloqué, ribbon, and metal ball hook all from MacCulloch & Wallis, black satin lining from my stash.
Tumblr media
I based the pattern off of a classic circle skirt, modifying it for the narrower fabric and squeezing in a lined hood as well! I also added a hook at the neck to take the strain off the ribbon, and finally, little wrist loops so that I too can look like a little bat with my arms out!
Tumblr media
Shirt: Pattern: Named Saraste from “Breaking the Pattern” book Fabric: Black textured silk & red silk satin from my stash
I was lucky enough to have the most perfect textured silk already in my stash. I also found a tiny scrap of red silk satin which I added to the inner collar and yoke to give a hint of red to the neck as a nod to my favourite vampires!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I used low-key black corozo buttons for the front, but added some drama to the cuffs with metal skull buttons, which I gave red eyes using red nail varnish!
Tumblr media
Trousers: Pattern: BurdaStyle 06/2023 no108 Fabric: Deadstock Japanese burgundy acetate twill from New Craft House
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm not normally a fan of wide-legged trousers, or high waists, or side zippers, so I modified the design to be something closer to my own style and preferences. I used the black satin lining from the cape to line the pockets, added a little Claudia cartoon heat set vinyl inside the waistband to serve as the label, and finished the hem with black lace for an invisible hand sewn finish.
Tumblr media
Overall, I'm stupidly happy with how all three pieces turned out and that I will be able to wear them separately as well as together. I poured all my love for this show into sewing these garments (while I was suffering from extreme post-viral fatigue, too), and I'm proud I can put my skills to use in this fandom!

So something good that started in my life last December was that I stumbled into a bit of luck and now have a deal with a nearby geek culture shop to sell plush mages I make. This was extremely fortuitous, because I created the design and concept back in 2017, had made about ten before forcing myself to stop, and, other than gifting one to a friend, still had them all, and was planning to find a holiday donation bin for a charity that accepted handmade stuff, because I was tired of them taking up space in my room. Like literally the only reason I still had them was because life was hectic and I kept forgetting to go check for where any local donation bins were.
This is very exciting, the owner's super nice and helped me set some stuff up so I'm selling on consignment, which means I only get paid when someone actually buys one, but I get a bigger cut of the money when they do.
My dudes, I have an income again.
It's teeny-weeny and irregular, but I have one, and, almost more importantly, a bunch of them sold during and right after the holiday rush, so I get to make more, and it's giving me something to actually do besides working on my mental issues and trying to fill my time while I gain the mental health and stability to get, you know. An actual job. I'm currently making a few more to put in the store, then I'm going to focus on making extra stock to have available for when the local anime convention (and it's stale, stale vendor's hall) arrives this spring.
Not only that, it means that I can make as many of these things as I want for now! And while it takes about a day to make one mage, I'm flexing hard on my status as a professional ADHD haver by having three or four on the go at once, but in different stages of completion. So if I feel like sewing I can one on this one, but if I want to do some pinning I can work on that one, and the third one's ready to finish stuffing and assembling whenever I feel like it, now I want to take a break to watch anime, oooo~ sewing mood again-!
Like, this is in no way I can turn this into an actual career, just because, like I said, it takes about a day to make one from scratch, going at a pace that's both productive and physically healthy for me and also, given that they're about twenty inches tall, made of primarily minky fabric, and being done by hand, that means that I am selling them for nowhere near what they're worth, because people wouldn't be willing to pay that much. Like, the minimum wage where I currently live is (a ridiculous) $7.50 an hour. If I made one of these guys in six hours, that would mean they'd need to cost $45 just to cover my time, never mind materials and the fact that this is skilled labour, and that is not the price on the tag, let alone my cut. They look deceptively simple for all the tricks and techniques that go into one (never mind the fact that minky is expensive fabric, the craft safety eyes I use are special-ordered and very good quality, and, oh yes, these little fellows are machine washable). I literally cannot make a livelihood doing this.
But, like I also said, it's giving me something creative to do that isn't just more reading, writing, and gaming. I love doing all those things, but this is a kind of physical activity that I've needed in my life, and making something physical is so different than writing, with the wonderful bonus that minky fabric is one of my favorite textures! As long as I'm strategic about my acquisition of materials, I'm not going to be losing money on this, and while it's something I think is going to end up paying dividends more in my mental health than in my wallet, I will be earning money for this. I'm getting paid to make plushies to my heart's content (or until I run out of materials for the moment) while watching anime/youtube and working on my mental health, and, for now, that's not only enough, it feels really good!

>×> I loved your headcanons for the 3-A so I wanted to know if you had any for the 3-B as well
If we're being honest- then no!! I did not have any on hand at the time of ask. However, I did let my brain go ballistic at 3AM again so... here we go again.
CLASS 3-B HEADCANONS
General Headcanons:
Nazuna is so damn done with these people (except Kuro and possibly Tsumugi).
Kanata likes patting Nazuna on the head while talking to him. Nazuna noisily complains it but if Kanata ever stopped, Nazuna would find it pretty weird.
Tsumugi likes to sit down and sew with Kuro sometimes. Wataru often interrupts such sessions by claiming that he can also make scarves and proceeds to pull out a neverending chain of them out of his sleeves.
Once when Nazuna bit his tongue, Leo had concluded that he was a space invader and threw a pencil at him.
Nazuna likes sending "Get Well" cards with cute stickers and doodles whenever one of his (when they were his current and still when they are his former) classmates are sick.
Kanata likes to take naps on peoples' shoulders, usually Rei or Wataru, but he has slept on everyone in 3-B various times.
Leo often comes up with script ideas and askes Wataru to visualise them for him. It mostly ends up dragging everyone else into it.
Kanata likes hearing peoples' voices in conversations (Rei probably has his favourite voice, by tone) so he closes his eyes while he listens to them and then doesn't end up responding because he fell asleep.
Kuro holds leo underneath the arms like a rabid animal to stop him from causing havoc.
Nazuna has had a hyperfixation on flower language after trying to decipher the message Wataru would send when he kept on giving people different coloured flowers [There was no reason, Wataru just likes those flowers at the time]
Tsumugi likes sending out cards after important events for each classmate. They're usually something from a cornerstore like a card with a puppy on it saying "I'm PAW-SITIVELY proud of you!"
Nazuna likes buying stationery on impulse but he hates when Leo finds out because then he begs to use it and it always ends up with glitter, marker, and stickers on the floors, walls, and both of their faces.
Rei likes to use a "secret language" with Wataru and Kanata so that he emphasised certain words and is very cryptic in speech. Nazuna just looks at him in confusion, Tsumugi and Kuro don't pay it any mind, and Leo asks if he's an alien. Wataru and Kanata don't actually know what it means either, they just like playing along.
Leo jumped into the ocean after seeing Kanata walk in with his clothes on. He immediately found an unidentified creature and wrestled with it, it omitting his vision, until Kanata peeled the octopus off his face.
! era:
Leo has called Kuro mother before. It was probably after something simple as Kuro chiding him for drawing on the desks on the rare occasions Leo did show up, but nobody's letting Kuro live it down.
Rei now calls him mother to tease him, as well as Leo who now frequently does it. Kanata does it with no malice whatsoever but because he thinks it's fun. He just playfully goes, "ok, 'mother'" whenever Kuro says something to him. Tsumugi tries to console Kuro on the fact but ends up accidentally calling him mother anyways. Nazuna wants to tease Kuro but he simply can't bring himself to call Kuro mother. Wataru, on the second Sunday of May, showers Kuro in bouquets as he walks into the classroom, wishing him very loudly a "Happy Mother's Day!! "
Leo was really interested in Rei's vampirism and spent a whole week trying to act like him. Eventually, he tried to sleep upside down like a bat [Despite Rei telling him that he, in fact, does not do that.] and Nazuna walks into the classroom that day with Leo falling on top of him from the ceiling.
Kuro, after some persuasion from Nazuna, embroiders and customises different types of fabric for his classmates.
He gifts Nazuna a little hankerchief with detailings of bunnies. He makes a towel for Kanata customised with various sea creatures on the edges. (Kanata barely remembers to use it, his hair always dripping wet anyways) He gifts Rei a pillow to place into his coffin because he assumes that it couldn't possibly be that comfortable in that thing. It's victorian styled (because he asked Shu for an idea) with little bats on the sides. Tsumugi gets a blanket in a clean geometric pattern. Wataru gets a cape with doves embroidered on the sides and it's very flowy. He showingly whirls it around and uses it in some of his performances. Leo got a scarf, but in the process of making, Leo kept demanding that it would be longer and longer. Kuro argued that if it reached his feet, Leo would trup over it, but Leo would keep on insisting so kuro would shake his head as he continued stitching. Leo did indeed trip on his face when he ran outside the first time he wore it.
Leo once shot an arrow into the classroom and used the rope attached to it to slide in through the window from the tree that he just happened to climb that morning, scaring the shit out of Tsumugi who was already in the classroom.
They held a puppet show in their classroom for funsies!!!
Leo had tought of it and ended up manifesting a script out of nowhere. Wataru looks it over and encourages everyone to participate to bring the vision to life. Tsumugi helped with the stage and Kuro made the puppets. Rei said that he was doing important work by supporting them (which just meant he wanted to watch it and do nothing) Kanata didn't know what everyone was doing but he likes putting the puppets in his hand and wiggling them around. Nazuna becomes the second unpaid actor forcibly. After the rehearsal, they do, in fact, force 3-A to watch it.
Nazuna likes to doodle on his notes when he gets bored, and Tsumugi when he notices, made Nazuna little charms that resembled his doodles and gifted to him.
Tsumugi did not find the need to mention his birthday, but when everyone pried, the class found out and Wataru pulled out party supplies, streamers, and balloons out of a hat he just flourished out of nowhere and strings them across the classroom so they can celebrate.
Wataru likes to enter the classroom in various different ways.
Once he jumped out of jack-in-the box set in the middle of the room and knocked Nazuna on his ass.
Tsumugi keeps a first aid kit on hand in case his luck acts up again, but he ends up lending it to Kuro a lot of the time, when he pricks his hand on a needle working with them in class again.
Nazuna forced Kuro to sit in the front with him because he was too short to see from the back and did not want to be alone.
Rei simply suggests that they stack books on a chair for him to sit on and Nazuna scowls (Rei doesn't even go to class!!)
Rei, in an attempt to outdo Eichi's 3-A field trips, suggests places for the group to go to, but ends up dying when it comes to actual event because he's in broad daylight.
Wataru likes to hold scavenger hunts throughout the school by leaving clues and leading everyone along. Nazuna ends up being the most invested.
Nazuna wanted to paint his nails in a cute style when he saw nail decals in a store window. He attempted to get Kuro to do it for him, but Wataru insisted he do it instead when he found out. It turns out surprisingly well, and Nazuna hesitatingly asks him to do more.
Kuro refuses to get his nails painted in any colour but black and runs away when Wataru points a glitter coat bottle at him.
Leo once asked Nazuna if he could be in charge of one of the broadcastings. Nazuna relented and that morning everyone could see Leo messily vlogging his day.
Like, "I climbed a TREE this morning, guys!! And thennnnnn I had a bagel--"
Tsumugi likes holding little trivia games in the classroom when they're all present (rare! also they don't do actual classwork I refuse to believe)
Kuro wins all the time. Tsumugi is the host but when he taps in, he only gets a close second surprisingly. Wataru, Rei, and Kanata always fail the pop culture sections. Leo answers the same thing to every single question and gets frustrated when Tsumugi shakes his head and tells him that's not the answer.
!! era:
Rei keeps on asking Nazuna how his phone works and Nazuna feels like he's talking to his grandpa.
Wataru still likes leaving cryptic notes in his old classmates' belongings and encourages them to finish the quest.
Kuro complains about being too old to do scavenger hunts anymore but still plays along. Nazuna doesn't want to show he's invested but curiosity gets the better of him.
Tsumugi somehow flounders and Rei and Kanata are the first ones at the end of the quest where Wataru holds a party. Wataru has to guide Leo specifically so the guy doesn't get lost.
Nazuna formed the groupchat when he was sitting in college, bored. He often gets frustrated when he doesn't get a response in the next 0.001 seconds.
Tsumugi usually responds first and Kuro follows with them asking how Nazuna's day was. Wataru likes entering the chat with a bunch of sparkle emojis. Rei misspells things frequently and accidentally sends random gifs. Leo just likes sending random voice and text messages about what he sees in his day, ignoring any logical progression in the chat.
Leo usually contacts Wataru when he wants to do some cool (vandalism) pieces on the walls of ES for the sake of art (and mostly so Eichi would be less mad).
Kanata asked Nazuna to puka puka with him in the pond. Nazuna didn't feel like saying now so now he spends the rest of the afternoon getting algae out of his shorts.
Rei likes to collapse on the floor during little meet-ups they'd have in a cafe or similar space for attention. Nobody really seems bothered by it and he usually cries out that the kids of this generation have no heart.
Nazuna once accidentally smacked Tsumugi with a door. He profusely apologised but became more erratic when Tsumugi simply responded that he was used to it.
Kuro has the same instincts to call his old classmates out on thing (like a mother hen-)
He sees Leo run around and wants to grab him by the scruff of the neck. He sees Nazuna biting his nails, he wants to swat it. He sees the Oddballs goofing around he wants to comment.
Kanata takes everyone on a trip to the aquarium.
Leo likes pressing his face against the glass. Nazuna keeps on pointing to cute fish that he sees while Tsumugi talks about little facts about them as Kuro listens. Rei fell asleep so Wataru drags them across the floor by the shoulder, loudly exclaiming at all the fish.
Nazuna wanted to get matching bunny keychains and decals for his phone with Kuro but Rei heard it and begged to be included. Nazuna didn't think he'd still have it but when Rei pulls out his phone in Rhythm Link meetings and Nazuna sees the bunnies, he gets psyche damage.
Aahhh. This class is interesting. In the way that none of them show up to classes and their interactions would be. stagnated somewhat. But I like them, they're eepy.
Thankies for the ask!! I love asks, they make me think more than I ever have in school- More Enstars Headcanons: Class 3-A Headcanons || Marine Bio Headcanons

Twilight can feel the blood go cold in his veins. Admittedly, he can see the resemblance almost instantly. One has his eyes- the other has the widow's peak by his forehead where his hair parts. He can see Reader almost just as clearly. The younger is clearly her spitting image.
Not wanting to make the children feel unsafe or awkward, he jumps into the little role, not questioning once if he should reconsider this. "Of course! How silly of us. Did you boys find anything exciting? I thought we were all supposed to stick together until we all went back home."
The older boy looks a little guilty. "I'm sorry pa, I know we were suppose to stay close and not wander off.... I found a cool stick?"
"Really? Let me see!" Twilight also gets to the children's level where they more than happily tart showing off their little treasure from their "adventure" away from home.

I always see people who are interested in alt fashion ask goths where to get good clothes (that aren't overpriced) so here's a few good places from my own experiences: - BANDCAMP. Not all goth bands have merch, but the ones who do always have incredible designs and they can be fairly inexpensive! The smaller the artist, the more likely their merch will be affordable, and the more they need the support. So go do some digging~ (I find a lot of niche bands through playlists, Never Resting Soul on youtube has some good ones and so does Obscura Undead) - Thrift stores. I know this one gets talked about a lot but I see people say "My thrift store just has granny clothes" and I just want to say... It's about the way you search and the way you style pieces. I like to beeline towards the black sections since my thrift store is sorted by color but yours might be different. After that I usually like to look at reds and purples, but green or even white can also be pretty cool if you style em right. See what calls to you. Look for good fabrics. Lace, velvet (or fake velvet), leather (I'm vegetarian so I hate to say it, but fake leather kind of sucks ass and crumbles apart within a few wears most of the time. Look for real leather if you want to buy it), or normal fabrics with interesting prints. I'm plus size and I've found some really good items doing this. Also, sometimes something that looks like a "grandma" piece on its own looks stunning when you pair it with the right accessories. Invest in some good belts and jewelry and you can make the most basic black t shirt and jeans or skirt look super alternative and pretty. - DIY. A lot of people assume you need some decent sewing skills to do this and while that's certainly helpful for more complicated DIYs, I'm here to tell you: You can just bullshit things with paint and safety pins and fabric glue and cheap craft supplies. Want a chain belt? the crafts section of walmart has chains you can throw on literally anything if you have a will and some safety pins (which you can also buy at walmart) and I hear hardware stores have longer chains way cheaper. You can also write things with that puffy paint you probably remember from when you were a kid. or use a cheap paintbrush to actually paint with it if you want. If you have patches you can fabric glue them or safety pin them (seriously those things are lifesavers) or both for good measure. Key rings are also great for projects that have a lot of chains or other hardware on them. you can make a chain with them or you can attach chains together with them or just like throw em on any piece of black clothing you want or honestly like 50 other things I'm probably not thinking of rn. Of course, you can also just shred tf out of things if that's more your style. Tights, denim, shirts, whatever. Distressed clothes are always an easy mention. (shredding denim is weirdly therapeutic if you have pent up frustration, try it out sometime) You can also draw or write on colored things with markers for a cool effect. I have a whole playlist for alt DIYs if you're looking for some inspiration: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLK4LkzpKtOvIFkJadZDUnfN4ntztkU70q - Finally, and I hate to say it, but.. Fast fashion. I don't recommend it if you can avoid it, but sometimes it's all you got and I don't really judge anyone for buying it. I got my current pair of combat boots at target and there's plenty of pieces you can style in alternative ways there. Lots of good basics and they usually have a pretty decent belt selection. They also have combat boots for around $20 last time I checked. (Don't buy from shein if you can help it though that shit is toxic and I don't just mean it in the metaphorical way.) You can also get good pieces for DIY projects like I mentioned above, or you can find cool tights to pair with your outfits.

Tommy
He really likes sitting with you while you work.
Depending on what specifically you work with (i.e. how big the loom is) it might not be relaxing perse but he sticks around anyway.
honestly, that man can sleep through a train derailing he's probably napping while you work.
He lovessss all the clothes you make him.
He probably won't wear it out very often because he doesn't want it to get dirty and messed up, but trust that he lives in it at home.
The one exception he has to wearing what you make him out is to formal events where he isn't concerned anything is going to happen.
He loves to gloat about how you made it just for him and everyone else should be dropping dead with jealousy.
Tommy only really accepts one or two tapestries from you because he doesn't have that many places he could put them.
Assuming at least one is pretty large, one goes in his office and sits on the wall behind his desk. He loves pointing it out when talking to prospective business partners.
The second would go in his (or your shared) bedroom on a sidewall so he can look at it while falling asleep.
Python
This guy is pretty much the opposite.
He loves any tapestry you make him and slowly builds a collection so he can switch them out seasonally.
He also displays them in his office for similar reasons but prefers smaller pieces to display on sidewalls rather than behind him.
Since he works behind the scenes and isn't getting as dirty nearly as often as his brother, Python is much more comfortable wearing the clothes you make him day-to-day.
He actually really enjoys matching his suits to the shirt you made or vice-versa.
If you work on anything larger or louder than a small tabletop loom, he probably isn't hanging out with you while you work. Poor guy is far too prone to migraines for that.
He prefers you make his formal attire, and will help prep everything you need to make him look perfect.
Yes, he does buy you some of the highest-quality threads to use for your art.
Mars
A bit stressed about being able to return that favor because he sees how much time and effort goes into one bolt of fabric or one tapestry.
You are going to need to convince him to take it.
He makes a request pretty early on to make sure any clothes you make are dark because he works outside with his brother a lot and doesn't want to have the stains show on your hard work.
He helps you sew to ease his conscience.
Regardless, he loves wearing what you make him and practically lives in them.
Tapestries tend to get to him more.
He's comforted by the fact that they are display-only but is still a bit itchy about not being able to repay the effort.
While he likes to mount smaller pieces to the walls, anything of significant size is actually used as a decorative blanket and rotated out randomly to mix it up.
Jupiter
Screams cries dies.
He loves everything you make him and will cook you a lavish meal to return the favor.
He is super good about cleaning everything super well, so you don't need to worry about him staining your hard work.
Make him linens. He is outside all the time in the hot sun all day he needs light and airy clothing.
He is actually a bit confused by the first tapestry you try to give him. Not necessarily because he doesn't know what one is or anything, he just didn't really consider it would be something a person would gift to someone that isn't like. royalty or something.
No matter the size, he tries to use it as a blanket the first night.
You're gonna need to explain it.
After that he's fine.
He does the same thing as Mars and treats a few pieces as decorative throws.
One tapestry is currently being used as a curtain.
He really loves everything you make him and cherishes it with his entire soul.

ღ CHAPTER THREE: PRECIOUS LITTLE THING (IN HIS ARMS)

y/n's walking in front of me, she smells of alcohol and light coffee beans, i can hear "jongho" packing up his stuff and "wooyoung" thanking him for coming. by the way that y/n looked at me, my condition must appear disheveled.
y/n turns around and grabs my hand, i try and focus on her heartbeat, it's slightly quicker than usual.
"are you nervous master?" i ask, watching her expression morph into something surprised.
"nervous? no i'm confused and worried, san. you ran off and came back with your clothes tattered and i just noticed a scratch on your arm! san when we get home, you have to tell me what happened."
she's holding both of my hands earnestly, her voice laced with concern, her eyes are looking at mine, she looks.. so beautiful.
Tumblr media
san waited for you to settle down and well as to finish sewing his clothes back together. it was a nice shirt and some old jeans you had laying around that he was wearing, and being the cheapskate you were, you were determined to fix it. as the needle went through the fabric, san thought it was time to explain everything to you.
"i saw my brother, master," san spoke, "he was trying to get me to return to "our master" as he put it."
"your brother? you have one? i didn't know robots could have family," you commented, still focused on repairing his clothing, "so he attacked you?"
"he was trying to weaken me enough so he could drag me back up there," san explained, "during that fight, his hand collided with mine, and i had a surge of memories come back."
"want to tell me about it?"
"i was created in the year 2118, on october 24th. my creator was a woman, though i blank on her name, and she also created my brother then. his name was..
kang yeosang."
san's led briefly turned yellow, which you learned represented distress or a conflict in his system.
"she created us in a dark basement, and tried to hide the world from us, she would use us for some.. unsavory purposes. mainly manual labor, and at night when she was done for the day, me and yeosang would be shoved into a dark closet. unlike yeosang, i was gifted more freedom. i would be the one who would go outside to buy groceries and was the one introduced to various media. yeosang was the one she experimented on, every week she'd try a new program or change his appearance at whim, i could barely recognize him when i saw him. she changed him, and gave him a new program made to combat mine."
san rambled for a long time, telling you of the memories he had with yeosang. he and yeosang sounded like they had truly bonded at some point in time, but san couldn't remember as to why he woke up in the slums that night.
"what about CYBERLYFE? did your creator work there?"
"yes, she was one of the lead engineers, but me and yeosang were her most advanced creations, she kept calling us her precious little things. compared to the other androids, we were more human, both physically and mentally, according to her."
"what was she like?"
"... i guess you could call her "crazy", she was weirdly obsessed with appearances and strength, hence her constant experimenting on yeosang."
a pit in your stomach made you want to ask: "do you want to go back to her?", but you stopped yourself. his expression when remembering yeosang was not pleasant.
"that's enough san, thank you for telling me. come on, let's go to sleep, i'm tired," you said, watching as his led turned back to blue.
you grabbed his hand, his being a lot softer than your rough ones, him following you diligently. as you walked into your room, san's arms suddenly wrapped around your waist.
"don't send me away, please master. i'll be good for you," san whispered, his body pressed against your back.
"you're already perfect san, don't worry. let's go to bed."
you walked towards your bed, hopping in, and noticed that san wasn't leaving the room. usually he would close the door behind him and begin tidying up whatever he could, but he seemed extra hesitant on leaving.
"san? what's wrong?" you asked, sitting up on your bed.
san's led ring turned yellow, looking caught off guard.
"yeosang knows about you. he told me he would never hurt you, but he attacked me, and we're brothers.. i.. i don't want you out of my sight. it is my duty to protect you," san said, sternly.
"i see. that's ... understandable. here, you can come and lay in my bed with me," you offered, watching as san hesitated for a split second before walking calmly towards your bed.
despite the bed being a bit small, you scoot over and make enough room for the two of you. san tucked himself under the covers, first laying on his back, before turning towards you.
"..i can't sleep without holding something, which was usually yeosang, i was too embarrassed to tell you, and so i haven't bothered sleeping ever since i met you. sleeping recharges my vitals, but i can last a while without it. s-so what i'm saying is, can i h-hold you? master?" san rambled, not meeting your eyes.
"sure."
you found yourself replying without any real hesitation, you were too tired to really care, but you couldn't ignore the voice in the back of your head as san cradled your body in his arms.
doesn't he seem too human?
Tumblr media
you and san walk towards the restaurant, he seemed weirdly excited to begin working. san still did not tell you how the encounter ended, but given that he was fully functional when he returned, you're guessing he either won or it was a draw.
"today is the day when kara comes to eat lunch with alice, i'm glad you get to meet them san!" you said, trying to ignore it and move on.
you still needed to make ends meet, but now you had to account for san's wellbeing as well. you couldn't stop working just because you have a target on your back, if you died, at least you wouldn't have to work anymore.
you made it to seventh heaven, seeing wooyoung just about finishing up opening.
"y/n! oh thank goodness, you're safe!" he yelled, running towards you and hugging you.
san watches with careful eyes as wooyoung cradles you in his arms, an uneasy feeling settled into san's stomach. as wooyoung released you, san swooped right back to your side.
"thank you for protecting y/n, wooyoung, i appreciate it. really."
wooyoung smiled as san bowed to him, you watched the scene and you were glad wooyoung was comfortable around san, knowing how jealous he got when you made new friends. he would never tell you, but wooyoung would feel lonely whenever you would go and play with anyone else.
"i would protect y/n with my life, we made that promise a long time ago."
san's eyes narrowed, smiling softly.
"i'm so glad," he replied.
you two waved goodbye to wooyoung, promising to come back for a drink that night. san looked as though a weight had been lifted off his shoulders.
"i like wooyoung," san said, "he cares for you."
"me too san, me and wooyoung have been by each other's side for a long time. we did a blood oath years ago, with one of wooyoung's old friends, but i can't remember his name. it was so long ago and that friend soon moved away. in the slums, you live life like it's your last everyday. have you ever heard of carpe diem?"
"yes, i'm guessing that you follow that ideal?"
"precisely, i want to live life passionately until my body stops working, when i can work, i'm as good as dead."
when the two of you made it to the restaurant, you and him walked in to see yunho and seonghwa yelling at each other in a furious manner.
"how could you let that happen?!" yunho yelled, a wave of anger you had never seen before.
"it's not my job to babysit that fucker, he's your best friend isn't he?! how was i supposed to know he'd get lost?! not to mention, hongjoong's also been missing, he's MY best friend, i don't have the capacity to worry about yours!" seonghwa yelled right back, neither showcasing any desire to back down.
"what's going on here?! customers are going to trickle in at any moment, you two better kill this right now or else i'm kicking you out," you spoke up, san close behind.
yunho and seonghwa looked at you in surprise.
"we can talk about this after work, but not when you're on the clock. come on now."
seonghwa and yunho let out short breaths, both tired from the constant shouting. they looked at each other, a silent truce agreed upon before yunho went into the kitchen area to gain some space.
you and san finished getting ready, you told san to go out front and have seonghwa help him, as you went to go ask yunho what happened.
"yunho, what happened? you're crying," you asked, watching as he let his salty tears fall onto the cutting board; forgotten lemons to the side.
"y-you remember mingi? he and i have been friends as long as you and wooyoung have, w-well he went missing last night when me and seonghwa were out drinking with him. he gets lost easily and i was in the bathroom, i told hwa to watch him and before i knew it; he was gone," yunho bit back a wave of tears, "i don't want to blame seonghwa, because he was as drunk as me, but then i saw him this morning and i got angry."
"once you two go on your lunch break, you two will talk it out. okay? i'll see if me and san can help," you said, watching as yunho's eyes ran over your face to see if you were lying.
when he decided you weren't, he embraced you tightly, soft sobs coming from the usually happy man.
"thank you, i just.. i just want him back," yunho said, you gave him a soft acknowledgment in the form of a back pat.

seonghwa is furiously scrubbing down the counters, there's approximately fifteen minutes and thirty-four seconds until opening. he turns around and sees me standing there, he sighs and bites back a smile as he asks me what i need.
"what.. what happened?" i ask, watching as his brows furrowed like an angry bird.
"why do i feel like i can tell you.. you're just some stranger..," he started, before inhaling, "yunho's best friend song mingi went missing last night when we were at a club, and yunho misunderstood what happened. i was drunk, so were the two of them, and when yunho went to the bathroom; mingi wandered off. when i tried to find him again, no one in the building was sober enough to remember if they saw mingi. i tried san, i really did!"
"you should tell him what you just told me, when the two of you have calmed down, he'll understand," i replied, seeing doubt on his face.
"how do you know that?" he asked, his voice breaking at the end.
"... i listened to his conversation with y/n, he's not mad at you. he just wants to know that mingi is safe," i confessed, sheepishly scratching the back of my neck.
twelve minutes.
"you mentioned hongjoong, when did he go missing?"
"... a week ago. that's why i was on edge when you first came here, i'm sorry about that as well," seonghwa says, i shake my head to comfort him, "he and i have been friends for only a few years but i treasure him deeply. he went missing when he was coming home from his studio and i have felt so guilty ever since. he wanted me to walk with him that night.. i should've....!"
seonghwa starts to softly tear up and i find myself hugging the older man, his equally tall body curls into mine, and i'm reminded of yeosang.
yeosang, are you well? i'm sorry for hurting you, but i know there's something up with you. if you show up, i know we can find mingi and hongjoong.
y/n exits the kitchen and smiles at the scene she sees, i find myself wanting to "blush" as she walks over, a fondness in her smile.
"you did good san, come on, let's reunite these two rascals."
i find myself following her, i want to make the people she loves happy. i want to, i.. want?
Tumblr media
i wanted to try out having san's pov, and finally all of the teezers have been mentioned at least once! a lot of lore was dropped in this chapter, i'm quite happy with it :)

Eco friendly cosplay (Save the environment and your wallet)
Before I begin this post, I want to aknowledge that yes, changes made by individual people  won't do much to save the planet in the long run, and yes we should really hold those big corporations that singlehandedly cause 70% of emission accountable. However, that doesn't mean that we can just go around using products that harm the environment all willy-nilly, and we should do our best to keep our impact to a minimum. The same goes for us cosplayers. I know cosplay is a fun hobby. Some of us use it to escape reality, other to find gender euphoria in it, some people just like to act and this is their way of showing that talent.  But we can't deny that our hobby causes a lot of environmental stress, and we routinely use materials from highly environmentally damaging industries. Let's have a look Fabric we use is often synthetic. It's  made from petrochemicals. EVA foam and thermoplastics are oil byproducts as well. And after that intense, environment-damaging process, most of us only wear the cosplay a few times, before we move on to the next big thing.. How can we change things, while keeping the hobby fun and affordable?
Shop in your own closet first. Many character actually just wear casual clothes that any random person can own. Check to see if you maybe already do.
You don't? Oh well. I assume you got a family and/or friends. Check their closet! After that? Thrift thrift thrift! There are so many hidden gems in thriftstores. Altering clothes is also a great way to start your sewing journey. And even if you don't find the clothing item or prop you're looking for, maybe you'll find something else that's useful. Like a leather jacket that yo can use to make those leather accesoires!
Don't make a new costume for every event. Make a handful that you love, aand wear those to the ground. It'll save you in money and materials, and you will also experience less stress, concrucnhing to try and finish your cosplay in time. I'm not saying you can never make a new cosplay, just do it less impulsively.
See which parts of your cosplay you can recycle. Maybe you can modefy that one skirt, or paint over the gun you made? See if you can make it work for your next character.
Does everything NEED to be perfect? I know you want to be as accurate as possible. But do you have to reprint that 3D printed sword twice just because it was slightly off? Or do you need to recast that gem in resin 20 times just to get it perfect?  No you don't Do you NEED to make a mock-up dress? I know the materials are expensive, and you don't want to waste any, but what are you doing with the mock-up materials after?
Continuing from #3, take a look at your fabrics. The entire textile industry is a mess. It's polluting, and often poorly regulated. And not just the synthethic  ones. Even natural fabrics can be bad.  Leather tanneries are awful, and cotton is one of the most chemically intensive crops in the world (still both better than synthetic counterparts) Try hemp, linen, or wool instead of cotton.
Find alternatives for your props. They don't have to be EVA foam and plastic. There are many substitutes. Cardboard, paper mache, recycled wood. Hell, even hotglue instead of resin. Or use things  you already own. Old water bottles can be a great base for sci-fi gubs for example. Be creative!
Make things work for multiple costumes. An old example that I once used on my instagram: @pretzlcosplay took her Gnar dress and corset, made some new accesories, and poof!: a Cubone cosplay!
Don';t buy a wig for every new cosplay. Ok so this one is common sense I think, and I don't think anyone does this but I had to put it here anyway. That one black wig you own? It;s Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Kirito, Kageyama, Levi Ackerman,  Rin Okumura, and on you go. The same goes for most unnaturally colored wigs. Just look up a few youtube tutorials on wigstyling, and that one wig can be a hundred different characters.
Buy secondhand cosplays. Loads of cosplayer sell their old cosplays, sometimes even including the wig. You can look on instagram, usually people have story highlights for things they're selling, but facebook is a great way to start too. They got loads of swap/sell groups for cosplayers. Sometimes there are even event son cosn where you can swap cosplays.
If you're a frequent crafter (whatever the reason) try to buy things in bulk. Not only will this reduce your cost over time and decrease packaging waste, but if you often order materials online, this will also reduce your environmental impact as you'll contribute to fewer emissions that come with shipping.
Buy samples Buying samples is a great way to know for certain whether the material is the right colour, has the right feel, the right texture, etc.  without having to do a full buy of the material. Same goes for wigs. Most wigsites have colour rings you can order, giving you a small sample of each available colour.
Keep your scraps Maybe you'll find use for them in a future project. Or maybe you can trade with friends. Save your scraps if you're a big DIYer
14. If you have the money, buy the eco friendly version. Technology has come a long way, and we have great substitues for most things. However, these are often more costly then the old (plastic) version. If you have the extra money to spare, please do buy the eco friendly alternative, like the eco friendly fillament for your 3D printer.

Jane Mattimoe (aka A Case for Pencils).
I've been interviewing mainly New Yorker cartoonists on here for close to nine (!) years, which is wild to think about! A lot has changed since I started this blog in 2014— back then, I had a broken wrist from a fall I had while working in a restaurant, and I didn't have the money for a laptop for months, so I would go to the New York Public Library to use their public use computers to work on Case during the daily half hour increments that were allowed at the time. I currently have a mostly working laptop and a fairly healthy wrist, which is a great improvement!
Tumblr media
Here I am at my desk, repping the NYPL on my mug. I know it looks messy under my desk, but I promise all of those art supplies are neatly stacked!
I started this blog as a young baby artist who wanted to open up a world to people who might not otherwise have a chance to learn from some of the greatest living artists of all time. I never went to art school (I found it unaffordable), and knew there were plenty of folks out there like me who might not be able to go to classes, but who certainly deserved to hear from some of the top professionals in their field. Since I had known many New Yorker cartoonists for a couple of years at that point, I figured why not see if they will help me out? And, well... they did!
Doing this blog is a LOT of work, but it has been thrilling to hear many many young people (several of which that I have interviewed on here!) say that they learned a lot from reading it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't put myself on here very often, so I thought I might take the time to talk about some of my more recent art projects. Above are some of my watercolor portraits. I have been working hard on trying to achieve more luminosity in skin and watercolors are a beautiful tool for achieving that. The key is lots of layers and lots of patience!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To the left is a recent painting I did of some ruins. Again, my goal is create light. The painting to the right is a pet portrait that I did a couple months back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've been learning lots of new crafts. To the left is a bird house that I painted using the cheapest acrylics possible. Usually with art supplies, cheaping out is disastrous, but for some reason, 80 cent acrylics seem to be working out for me? If you are an acrylics artist, please feel free to tell me why I'm wrong to use them. I also have been having fun with decoupage (photo on the right), which is basically using special tools to glue fancy tissue paper etc. onto various objects (I've slowed down on this a bit because I've run out of things to cover in decorative paper).
Tumblr media
I've been having a lot of fun making decorative objects—I feel that it is important to make beautiful things for yourself when you're an artist. Having pretty things doesn't have to be expensive if you make them yourself, and they become keepsake items. I made this little gingerbread garland pictured above by cutting out felt and frosting it with fabric paint.
Tumblr media
I've also been having lots of fun with sewing. This is a two piece set that I made recently. It's really fun to be able to think of something I would like to wear, and make it! Sewing is a different kind of art for me—with painting, I am in a strange incoherent state. But with sewing, I am following all sorts of instructions, and thinking about it in a far less abstract way. It's definitely a different usage of my brain, which has made it a fun challenge.
I hope you all are doing well, and learning new ways to make art! I appreciate all of the support over the years, and hope to continue this blog for quite a while longer. Thanks for reading!
You can find my Instagram here, my website here, and Twitter here!
------
If you enjoy this blog, and would like to contribute to labor and maintenance costs, there is a Patreon, and if you’d like to buy me a cup of coffee, there is a Ko-Fi  account as well! I do this blog for free because accessible arts education is important to me, and your support helps a lot! You can also find more posts about art supplies on Case’s Instagram and Twitter! Thank you!

HOW did you make your Baldr cosplay. You've inspired me to wanna try and make one too, got any tips on doing it?
aaaaaa I feel so honored I inspired you!!!! ;0; my disclaimer is that I am the farthest thing from a professional lol, but I will show you how I did it! My cosplay philosophy is that I am lazy and want to spend as little money as possible ⭐ I always use clothes I already own, the base outfit I already owned I only needed to get the belts, hoodie and wig
This is long I'm so sorry I just went thru the whole process :')
Tumblr media
Here is every part of the finished cosplay:
Boots
Black jeans
Pants chain (mine is just an old one from hot topic)
Blue belts x2 (got these on Amazon, $10 USD each)
Black shirt + vest (or you can do one black button down, in canon Baldr looks like he's wearing a black vest over a white shirt but I felt like my vest was too low it would've looked weird)
Black fingerless gloves
Hoodie (Amazon, $18 USD) + tassel (Joann's Fabrics $10 USD)
Mark of mastery by MadeByFjori on Etsy ($6 USD) I bought it unpainted to save money and just got some metallic gold paint :) its really good quality and shipped fast! I had taped a safety pin on the back of it to attach it to the hoodie (I had tried super gluing it but it mf broke off!!! Tape it is,)
Wig (mine is the Skyelar classic in silver from Arda Wigs!) If you have no experience styling wigs that's fine since Baldr's hair is so choppy that if you fuck it up it works LOL I always style my wigs while wearing them thats just me, I brushed the hair in front of my face and cut the bangs around the bottom of my eyes and went from there. I also cut part of the sides framing my face
If you have dark hair like me I recommend a skin colored wig cap!!! Dark hair spilling out from a white wig will look weird, they sell them kn the Arda Wigs site
Optional: Starlight keyblade from Spirit Halloween ($40 USD) it's solid plastic, lightweight and looks amazing! The only bad thing I've found is the keychain just. Is not durable. Last year it broke off at a convention and I lost it 😔
Optional: face mask by KumalatteCreations on Etsy ($16 USD) I wear it with all my KH cosplays lol I have 2 masks for cosplay from them, really great quality, fit and has a place to insert a filter. I have the OSFA teen/women size because my face is tiny :')
Okay but let's talk real shit: the Hoodie. It's a plain white sweatshirt from Amazon, size up to get that oversized look Baldr has. Also disclaimer: do NOT get a thick hoodie I tried my best to get a light weight one and oh my god. For something that is essentially Just Sleeves I was SWEATING TO DEATH okay anyway materials:
Hoodie base
Gold fabric (I bought 1 yard and had more than enough)
Black buttons x2
Black ribbon
Tassel
Fabric scissors, fabric glue, needle/thread, safety pins
Black and orange markers
If you get a hoodie like mine where the hood strings have metal around the edges, use white paint or white out (I did not have time to buy white paint,) to paint over the metal so its not distracting
Now the How To:
Pull out your hood strings if applicable, paint any metal like I mentioned above
Use fabric glue to add black ribbon around the sleeves, do this in sections not all at once, do the ends of the ribbon around the back of your armpit to hide the ends. On my hoodie there was a hem on the sleeves that I followed so it was easy to make it even on both sides
Crop sweatshirt in half and cut down the middle front but DO NOT go all the way to the top where the hood is, stop about 2 inches away from it otherwise you will be me having to sew that shit back together
Measure where you want the front to fold open, you will probably have to cut more off of the sweatshirt bc if its too big you will be pinning that shit onto the top of your shoulders, basically shorter in the front and longer in the back (I know mine is so messy I didn't measure I just guessed I know wtf @ me-)
Tumblr media
Flip hoodie inside-out and add gold fabric to the inside of the hoodie, leave about half an inch room around the edge for hemming, yes the entire inside too, I found that when I moved around I could see the back of the inside and it looks weird when the gold fabric suddenly stops
If you have a sewing machine or want to do this by hand then fold over the edges and hem it on top of the gold (not me tho I was con crunching and glued that shit all the way around,) it cleans up the edges and adds the white border to the part you will pin open
What I WANTED to do was to sew the buttons onto the hoodie and add button holes on what would get pinned but I did not have the time so I sewed the buttons directly onto the front pieces so when I fold it open I used 2 safety pins on each side to hold it up
For the tassel: I colored it with a peachy/light orange sharpie and a black one. I measured how long I wanted it to be and cut the other end off and used fabric glue on the end to stop fraying. I wrap it around the buttons and do a simple loop knot to keep it in place
if you end up doing what I did irt the tassel, don't go in with a regular orange marker bc it came out so dark on the fabric its made of like I just happened to have this peach/skin tone sharpie that came out the right shade on the gold fabric
Tumblr media
Finally, pin the mark of mastery in place!
Now you are Baldr :)

Globe Crowley Cosplay Build
Tumblr media
I've been telling myself I'd do this for ages just to document the process and potentially help out anyone else who wants to go down this route so...
I'm going to start with Crowley because he was nominally a smidgen easier. Their outfits are exceedingly similar in this era so there will be a lot of overlap.
Both of them are wearing a doublet with paneled trunkhose, in case you'd like to go down the googling rabbit hole. But let's start at the top and work our way down.
For the wig I actually just nabbed a lace front one on Amazon. I was going to link the exact one but I've now bought so many long red hair wigs that I'm not sure which one it is (thanks Crowley)
Tumblr media
Is this the right one? I don't know. I cannot emphasize enough that I have too many red wigs and it is exactly one demon's fault. Anyway, I do recall it parted in the middle and my friend @seedsofwinter helped me use glue to make it go back rather than down the middle because I ran out of time to add some hair to the front. I think I remember trimming it a bit, too.
The beard was just crepe wool, which I'm slowly practicing with for facial hair. The longer beard was a lot easier than the shorter stuff I've tried :D
The glasses were another find by seedsofwinter on Zenni Optical, but I'm seeing those exact frames are retired now. It may be possible to find a similar pair by looking for ones that are small and oval. Most of their glasses can be ordered as sunglasses with a prescription which is wonderful for Crowley cosplays.
A warning: If like me you use Crowley's sunglasses so you can actually see, these ones are horrible for that particular purpose. I think it may have to do with how small the lenses are, they let a lot of light in but you're still looking through darkened lenses and the end result is an inability to see well, but ironically particularly in bright light.
Onto the fun stuff! @tricksyspiritworld recommended the doublet pattern to me (and if you do not follow them, you should. They are a lovely person in addition to being a wonderful cosplayer).
Tumblr media
If you want it accurate for Crowley, you do need to adjust the front so that it can layover to button and the neckline a bit. I found that once I added the added fabric for the button, all I needed to do on the neckline was fold it back to take off a triangle at the top and bam, exactly what I wanted. The bottom front also needs to be adjusted, but you can do that with the add-on pieces at the bottom rather than adjusting the main body of it. This is definitely a pattern to mock up and experiment with. I did a lot of tweaking and trying on with the final doublet as well to adjust it.
I don't have a good close up of the fabric, but I went for a black suede. If you look at HD images of Crowley's Globe outfit it's actually got a little bit of a pattern to it, but alas when I actually went to buy the fabric I couldn't find one with the slightly raised pattern and thus black suede it was.
Tumblr media
Crowley's buttons actually have a red center, but I thought these were cute and seemed very him-like so I went with them <3 I like buttons :D
Tumblr media
The shoulder pieces became known as the burnt croissants as I was working on them. Mine are two pieces of fabric and I honestly just measured my shoulder and then cut pieces that I *thought* would work and sewed them to try. Mine are stuffed with old fabric scraps to give them shape and make them poof.
Tumblr media
For the under fabric I used the same black shiny lining fabric I used for the base of the trunkhose (we'll get there) and for the panels I used the same fabric I used for the doublet and panels on the trunkhose. And just... all the hand stitching and then pinning them on the doublet.
Tumblr media
Do yourself a favor and pin this as many times as it takes to get it looking right while you're wearing it. You want the croissants to sit on TOP of your shoulder going upwards, not sliding down to your arm at all. Pin pin pin. Try it on. Pin again. Once you've got it where you want it, just slipstitch it into place.
And just like that, you've got yourself a doublet! Oh! Except one last detail. Crowley's actually got some white sneaking out at the wrist.
Tumblr media
The amount of time I consider thinking about this bit of lace. Is it a bracelet? Was it a gift? Crowley, are you wearing Aziraphale's shirt? I have so many questions.
Anyway, I just sewed a bit of lace to the end of the jacket sleeve, because I didn't trust myself to always remember a lace-cuffed shirt.
Tumblr media
Anyway, let's move on to some fancy smancy pants.
Here's the pattern I used for the Trunkhose: https://www.etsy.com/listing/78233565/rh206-quick-print-elizabethan-1570s-1600?ref=yr_purchases
You'll note, these don't include the panels. They also include some historical additions that I decided to leave off and just simplify the pattern as much as possible.
So for the trunkhose base, I used the included pattern, tried them on, adjusted, adjusted, adjusted. (the real reason I don't sell cosplay commissions is that I adjust too much).
For the base, I used a shiny, shiny lining fabric and lined it on the inside with cotton to give it some strength. For the panels, I used the same pattern but once I cut the fabric, I measured it in two inch pieces and then cut every two inches. I lost a little length to the seam allowance when I added some of the base lining for a backing, and then I started pinning the panels to see what would look right.
The panels should line the entire top, and overlap a bit at the sides at the top. On the bottom, there's going to be some overlap and this is hard to describe but you'll want to start the panels at the front rather than between your legs, but very, very close to being between your legs so that you cover everything. Again with the pin in, try it on, pin it again. I did one leg at a time because omg it's so many panels. So. So. Many. I think there are twelve per leg? It's a lot. Take your time, pin and adjust before you sew them all into place at the top and bottom. Do NOT sew them anywhere in the middle of the fabric.
Also, I advise making an extra panel or two (or three). They can catch and really I think it's a miracle we haven't accidentally ripped one off yet.
Underneath the trunkhose, Crowley has a pair of short trousers which you could sew or... hear me out you can buy a pair of loose capri leggings and then just hem them up. Do yourself a favor and get leggings with POCKETS. Because POCKETS and cosplay. Yes? Pockets!
Add some black thigh high socks and then the shoes. I never did find accurate shoes within my budget so I'm wearing the ones I wore for Bastille Crowley, which I found at TJ Maxx like three years ago in the clearance section. (None of us will be looking at your feet, it's fine)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And all that to get a cosplay worthy of flirting with an angel <3

(dives and rolls into your inbox) I'm coming to ask you right back! HA HA!
Could you answer Texture, Wardrobe, and Alternate for Akari, please?
Ahdjsjdjsjaja thank you so much for this ask Soda!!! Boy I have so much I want to ramble I could write a novel lol. 🤣🤣🗿 I hope I articulated them properly!!
Texture: Does your oc have any specific kind of cloths or textures. Is there anything they can't wear or don't like? What sort of fabrics do they prefer.
Akari ofc loves to wear anything pastel that has camellia flowers and nature (art nouveau) motifs! but other than that, she's usually down to experiment and try different types of clothing whenever she can, as long as it looks cute. It's one of her hobbies after all! As for what fabrics she likes. She likes fabrics with colorful patterns. Texture wise, she prefers them to be soft and comfy yet sturdy with an elegant silhouette.
Akari usually tries to find some balance between style and comfort, when it comes to being a demon slayer, there are certain types of clothing that she doesn't wear. Anything that is too heavy and uncomfortable is a no go for her. Her fighting style requires her to be swift and agile, and these types of clothing will only hinder her in combat.
Wardrobe: How big is your characters wardrobe? Do they wear things threadbare, or can they afford new clothes often? Are they any good at mending and repairing their own clothing?
Big enough... that she gets to try different looks hdjssjd. I like to think too that as a Kinoe rank, she gets paid just enough that she can afford new clothes, but I will still go for threadbare. Akari doesn't like the idea of buying a whole outfit just to wear them once. Not to mention she uses the funding for the Demon Slayer Uniform Makers too so she reuses her clothing as much as she can.
She usually prefers to window shop and just browse through clothing to give her some inspiration. If she does buy, its usually separate pieces of clothing or accessories that she can mix and match for different occasions, that or she buys fabrics that she can create from scratch. She sews some of them for herself, and the rest for Uniform Makers.
Speaking of Uniform Makers, 👀 mending/customizing clothes is definitely Akari's speciality. Too bad she isn't available all the time due to being active on the battlefield.
Tumblr media
Alternate: What would your ocs alternate universe be?
Oh boy I have a lot. 🤣 I have Modern Kimegakuen/Genshin au where she cosplays a Genshin Impact character(Ayaka)
In Kimegakuen, she's a stressed out fashion student who likes to cosplay (The first on is her normal look, while the last two are variants of her cosplay. She likes to customize her outfits to be creative)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also have a mermaid au! where her design is based on a female betta fish! less camellia motifs and more on aquatic plants and flowers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then there's the silly Barbie au! 🤣
Tumblr media
and then the Trigun au! where Akari gets to wield guns as Meryl Strife!
