Hi friends, 
New Episode 3 content is available to play on Wayfarer’s alpha build!
Overview
Part 3 Route 1 includes a new playable route. 
Because Episode 3 is still in development, not all routes are accessible at this time. To play the new content, you must have reached one of Aeran or Veyer's endings in Episode 2, then choose Path 1 when you reach Diradan Tower. 
80,000 words of content.
Story Features
This update picks up where the last Episode 3 update left off and includes:
A fight with some ivy
Creepy libraries
Sudden and unnecessary explosions
Weird things that go bump in the dark
Resolving a mystery with more mysteries
Elven eyesight
A new flashback sequence starring your favourite mentor

Note: This is not the same thing as the public demo, which is available for everyone and covers the first four chapters of the game: the alpha preview is the early access version available to Patrons and testers!

WHAT’S NEW:
16,000 words of new content to Chapter 9!
The main part of the mission is finally complete! Gain the last few signatures for your petition against Sibella de Vespe, gather crucial information from Sun Courtiers, Court Mages, and Ket guards, and proceed to the next part of the mission... either investigating Sibella's personal rooms or submitting your results to High Augur Arameri!
Please be sure to read the specific developer notes on Patreon for more info, as well as check the Incomplete Routes Guide linked in the alpha build post if you have questions about how to proceed through the alpha build! 
Please also note the special note at the top of the developer notes about new variables and how to avoid bugs!
WHAT’S NEXT:
More Chapter 9, possibly a character interlude depending on how far we get (but I wouldn't count on it), and some quality time with one of your teammates if you chose not to plant the dark tome in Sibella's room. If you're romancing Briony, Lavinet, or Riel, I consider this next sequence a treat, because it employs one of my favorite romantic tropes ever! XD I've been so excited for it! (Let's just say that smooching may or may not be involved.)

The air is thick. Even with the filter of the blue lantern that Medea carries, you can taste the sour-sweet air as it coats your tongue. It burns the back of your throat, making you want to gag. This was the miasma at work. Oh, Herald, how could anyone live so close to the Wastes if this is what it feels like?
We made it baby! The alpha build for Chapter 1 Part 2 is here! Right on time :) (I died trying to get this done...)
It's available to play for patrons of all tiers on my Patreon.
Important: You'll have to import your save from the public build to continue were you left off! Additionally, you'll need to have an itch account if you don't have one already.

Because this is an Alpha Build. it is very very very barebones and lightly edited and subject to change, but it should be playable beginning to end. Please do no go in thinking this is as polished as the public build. I don't want you to be disappointed TTuTT it's very linear in its current state, but I hope to open it up a bit by the time we reach the public update.
In its current state, there aren't any personality stat changes built into the code so please keep that in mind!

CHAPTER 3 is out!
It's been a few (looong) months since the public release of Chapter 2, but Chapter 3 is finally here. Here is a list of some of the new things you can expect to find in the new chapter.
NEW IN CHAPTER 3
46.700 words of new content, excluding code.
More racial reactivity (something for every race).
Four new main quests. (You’ll get to leave Ferndale and follow some leads that will take you all over the Secluded Valley. You’ll get to visit places like the Whispering Grove and Mireside, and you’ll even get a chance to return to the Forsaken Cavern…)
A new romantic moment for Nelfas/u.
A new side quest (foreshadowed in Chapter 2).
2 new achievements.
Journal entries for all quests (side, main, companion).
Saves made before the previous (March) update will not work.
Chapter 4 (in its entirety) is available on my Patreon, and I’m about to start working on Chapter 5.

An Update On Things
Hey everyone - my wedding was last Saturday. Originally, I was hoping the writing for Ch 2 would be complete by now but I underestimated how much more work it would need. This is because there is quite a bit of branching for the later half of the chapter which takes a lot of time to do. It's never my goal to give you what I feel is unpolished or mediocre writing on my part.
Therefore, my new goal is to have chapter 2 complete before the end of the year. Not necessarily out to play yet, but the writing is complete so it can be beta tested. I hope that will happen but who knows? I'm going to do my best to make sure the writing is done. But again, I don't want to force out writing or pressure myself too much. So, I'll take my time in the most efficient way I can ha :)
That said, the rest of the year shouldn't be too busy for me so I'm doing my best. I'll be providing more frequent updates + teasers. I appreciate your patience over the last month as I took time away.
Currently, the Alpha Build for Patrons features approximately half of chapter 2. Total written word count for Chapter 2 (including what's not in the Alpha Build) is over 35,000 words. Tha Alpha Build includes:
an enlightening breakfast with James and Vivian;
meeting your pet;
choosing your hobby;
a heart-to-heart with F;
holding court for the first time + meeting 2 new characters;
choosing which charity to support as The Harbinger;
an interlude POV switch.
On that note, I want to say a big thank you to everyone for your support here and on Patreon as well. It means so much to me. As does your patience. You're all so awesome :)
The last thing I wanted to touch on was the Ask box. As you may have noticed, it's been off for a bit and I've answered a few asks but not a ton. There's still a lot to go through. It just feels really overwhelming, to be honest, and that's why I haven't answered many.
That said, I'm going to try and make a genuine effort over the next couple of weeks.
This game is on my mind pretty much every day and I'm still very motivated and interested in finishing it. Anyway, talk soon lovelies :)

A few people have asked me what the Alpha Build of Paper Moons is. Essentially, we are 12 weeks ahead in this story, over on Patreon. There, we have been doing our weekly vote and deciding on the next part. The Alpha Build, however, has all the parts as they are being written. So, if you do not like the popular vote, you can go to the Baron tier to kind of curate your story to your liking. I am considering putting the Alpha Build for Paper Lanterns in there as well, just to make the price point worth it. I'll make an announcement if I get enough interest.

Excited to share a little mini update - The Nameless Alpha Build has just been updated on Patreon!!
This update adds about 25k words w/ code and includes:
The beginning of the Albatross path through the decision with who you can spend a little extra time with
Beginning of the Healer path and a majority of the Magesmith path
The start of an interesting dream :)
The Alpha Build is available to Sheevra, High Sheevra, and Sanctin patrons, and the password/link won’t reset until the Alpha Build is updated again, so one-time donors are more than welcome! All earnings are counted toward the end of the month donations to The Trevor Project and the National Network of Abortion Funds.

Sunchasers (Somewhere in between)
Greetings Internet, I love art, off beat humor and games. Those three have been pulling at my heart and mind for the entirety of my existence. I spent the majority of the past decade, exhausting my mind, body and soul in exchange for capitol as a carpenter in the world of residential construction. In the best interest of both physical and mental health, we decided that wasn't the path for us anymore.
Here we are doing food app delivery work(YourDash, FrubHub, etc) for the past couple years now, trying to be our own boss. Then wham, wrong place, wrong time, some tesla runs a red light and due to a technicality, my car is on my bill. An unfortunate way to gain some wonderful insight.
The insight that life is too short for me to not at least try to do what I really want to be doing and not leaning on what feels safe. To hopefully start manifesting what really matters in this world. This is my first attempt and I hope the game can bring as much joy to others as it has brought me in developing it so far. The link in this post will jump to a a website that I set up to host and play my HTML5 Bullet Heaven Exploration. The project supports Desktop and Mobile [Though it still needs optimization, so at max runtime needs about 450mb video ram, please keep this in mind.} There is gamepad, touch, keyboard, and tilt support available. Everything essential is on the page and I expect nothing in return, though I would be grateful for any feedback and for other to join my community of open development.
I have learned so much and worked so hard on this game in the past month, giving this game a soul has seemingly asked me for a bit of mine in return to get the results I wanted in such short time. Very fortunate to have a significant other who doesn't think I have completely lost my mind making slaving away over such a strange project for no tangible reason loI. I have been seriously anxious about getting back on the road again, it was a scary accident and this passion project has been a serious outlet that I hope can become an opportunity to create a really super experience that can help mitigate some form of the suffering in this world.
I have been a fan of this site before and think it will make for a good place to post, devlogs, screen captures, AI Art Exports/Collages/Edits. So please follow if any part of this appeals to you. Thank you for your time you lovely people.

Pitch: A non-linear, box-pushing puzzle game that takes place across a series of mysterious islands. Game Boy aesthetic.
My expectations: Akurra is fake Link's Awakening, right? I recently finished Link's Awakening for the hundredth time, and you better believe I'm up for more of that.

The control screen was my first hint that Akurra isn’t, as I assumed, a Link’s Awakening clone. The influence is undoubtedly there, but notice the lack of action buttons.
Hard to believe it’s been exactly one month since I reviewed A Kishoutenketsu in the countryside.

In addition to Sokoban-style box pushing, though, Akurra offers— Actually, no, it’s mostly just pushing boxes, as well as a different kind of boxes. Eventually, though, some immovable rocks turn into rockmen. Which can be pushed.

Keys! There are keys that open locks. Regular keys for regular locks, and special keys for special locks. Some locks need multiple keys. Plus, there are stars that…open locks. And don’t forget the crystals and music notes that must be collected to…pass…progression gates.

Fine, it’s Sokoban, but the puzzles will tie your brain into knots and make you feel like a genius when a seemingly impossible challenge clicks. What more could anyone want from a puzzle game? Unfortunately, this is not a puzzle game. It’s a puzzle game demo. Some of these puzzles are impossible. They’re hints of what might lie ahead if Akurra is ever completed. Puzzles without solutions aren’t worth my time or yours.
+ For a block-pushing game with nothing but directional controls, there's a surprising amount of variety. The puzzles require real observation and thought. + Gotta love rewind and reset buttons. + Stepping on spikes or into the ocean is an instant death, which means disappearing in a puff of smoke and returning to the last safe spot in a fraction of a second. The game could make it impossible to step on an unsafe tile, but I like this system. It creates a sense of danger and encourages care without punishing mistakes. + Cute, legible Game Boy aesthetic, without the cramped screen limitations of a real Game Boy. The music doesn't match the retro look, but it's somehow still appropriate for a puzzle adventure.
– More than three years after the release of Chapter 1, the game is still incomplete. In fact, "Chapter 1" is just the language used on the Itch page. In-game, it's referred to as 4.0A DEMO. – When your best feature is puzzles that seem impossible but aren't, it's a big problem to include inaccessible areas that aren't distinct from areas that only look inaccessible. – Bizarre control bugs. Several times, I pressed up, and my character moved down. – What is with Sokoban games and mazes where you have to feel out an invisible path?
🧡🧡🧡🤍🤍 Bottom Line: Is it unfair to judge an unfinished game for being unfinished? Maybe not, but "Chapter 1" sounds, to me, like one, complete chapter; not a demo of an alpha build that might never be completed. Akurra's finished puzzles could put it among the best Sokoban-likes, but its frequent dead ends sour an otherwise satisfying adventure.

As of May 26, 2023, brand-new Episode III content is available to play on Wayfarer’s alpha build.
✦ Overview
Part 1 includes 5 playable routes based on your Episode II ending. They are: Aeran’s romance reconciliation, Aeran’s friendship reconciliation, breaking off your MC’s friendship or romance with Aeran at the apartment, Aeran’s low romance (if you do not go to Melchior’s party), and Sleeping with Veyer.
Other routes, such as Melchior's and Kit’s endings, as well as the drunk route are under construction and not available at this time.
370,000 words of cumulative content
An average playthrough is 21,000 words

Episode III picks up the morning following Episode II and includes:
The aftermath of the big fight!
A mission going ahead, whether you like it or not
Boat rides
Promises made (or not made) to a questionable person
Reckless and unchecked behaviour
Obliterate your relationships (or try to save them)
A special object of great personal importance
Consequences for your actions and dialogue options
Always remember: you can always make things worse. Whether this is a good thing or not is up to you.

Wayfarer’s next public build patch will release next Monday on May 29, 2023. Patch 2.6. will fix a number of ongoing bugs and issues.
All players must start their playthroughs fresh with a new save once the patch releases, otherwise they will encounter continuity and approval errors.

To fully test Episode III’s new material, I am expanding Wayfarer’s playtester team. If playtesting is of interest to you, please check out the information below.
✦ What Does Playtesting Entail?
Playtesters play the alpha build in search of bugs, continuity errors, and typos. They are essentially an extra set of eyes on the game for new content. They get updates and patches before anyone else does.
Because Wayfarer’s gameplay includes hundreds of choices and many, many variations that build on each other, playing multiple times and checking out different options is essential for testing to make sure each area of the game functions as intended.
✦ Details
You must be 18+.
Playtesting is a volunteer position.
You will be credited in-game as a playtester (this is opt-in).
You must have an active Discord account.
All communication with the playtesting team is done through a private playtester Discord server. You must be willing to be active in that part of the server and submit your bug reports through the designated channels. I do not accept playtester bug reports through any other method.
Playtesting is not free access to alpha content. If you are not active and do not contribute to bug reporting, you will be removed from the playtester role.
You must keep the playtester build link and password private. As a playtester, you are trusted not to share the alpha build’s content. Breaching these terms will terminate your role as a playester and you will be banned from all of Wayfarer's platforms and social media.
If at any point you are no longer interested or do not have the time to be involved, you can opt out, no questions asked!
You must be available to playtest throughout the summer as I develop the next stage of Episode III.

Your answers on the application form are kept strictly confidential.
The form is open until June 9, 2023. I will contact chosen playtesters via email by June 11, 2023.

so during my nth playthrough, i went for the route in chapter 4 where mc doesn't fall off the cliff. when halek pulled them out of the cavern and said "i could kiss you right now" i was screaming, crying, throwing up, punching the wall. why isn't he an ro :((
if mc could see him at the time i imagine he'd look angelic bathed in moonlight 😔
I fully intended on keeping Halek as chaste and pure as driven snow, but his natural magnetism had other ideas 😔

CHAPTER 3 is out!
Chapter 3 is available on Patreon. The game just hit 146.000 words, and a single playthrough is around 54.600 words. There are dozens of new things in the chapter, but I don't want to spoil too much.

“They say that the Night Market was not even up top years and years ago. That it was once a sprawling city underground. But then everything began to cave in so they had to move up top.  The Outlands may be the ruins of the old city.” I paused.  “Or, they are exile encampments.  The Velvet Guard does seem to send the worst of their lot out to wander this terrain.” It was a death sentence.  If you couldn’t see in the dark, I didn’t see how you would survive out here unless you were able to stumble upon civilization.
“I heard the Velvet Guard has other means to punishment. Why would they exile the worst of them outside of the city when their flesh pits and auction blocks are much more profitable?”
I shivered a little.  The flesh trade in the market was far worse than the Velvet Guard wished to let on. I knew that my hand alone was worth more than a year's pay for most.

For August, I've mentioned this in the patron updates, but I wanted to give a public heads up that I'll be a little less active in responding to comments and messages over the first half of the month until about August 14th. Specifically, I'll be offline to marry the love of my life C: ❤️ Stopping myself from going absolutely insane with the syrupy sweetness again but...yeah 💖. There are a couple of queued posts though so keep an eye out for that! 👀
That said, the Alpha Build of The Nameless was updated last Thursday, with about 25k words of new content! If you missed it, you can check out the info post here. I'm hoping to get another Alpha Build update out before the next Public Update, which I'm aiming for October now to include the entirety of Chapter 4.
