Got fully obsessed with Elden Ring last year, and made a series of mockups of a strange world where it came out in 2001 for the game boy color. Maybe a better world??? Here's all of the fuckers for ya anyway

Hollywood loves to make epic movies. Gladiator (2000) was a box office hit and surprised everyone by winning Best Picture at the Oscars. Troy and Alexander premiered in 2004, and were earmarked for box office and awards success. Instead, they were received poorly by critics and failed at the box office. With nearly $200 million budgets each, they were lavishly constructed but Troy and Alexander had Gladiator to live up to and both buckled under the expectations and failed to deliver by commercial standards.
Tumblr media
I studied Latin and classical civilisation (Greek and Roman empires) and read the Iliad and the Odyssey at school. When Troy and Alexander were released I saw them at the cinema. I did also see Gladiator at the cinema but was disturbed by the hanging scenes, gladiator fighting and violence so I don’t think I’ve watched it since. Troy and Alexander I watched again and again on DVD.
I know I’m biased as I’m a huge fan of Brad Pitt and Colin Farrell. They gave their best performances but the scripts and the costumes did not serve them well.
Tumblr media
Following the release of Alexander, Colin claimed that he found himself apologising to anyone who had seen the film. “I found myself in a place where with everyone I met I wanted to say, 'Have you seen Alexander? If you have, I’m really sorry.' I’m not even joking. I did. Now, I wasn’t going to give them their $20 million back," Colin Farrell explained during his Hollywood Reporter roundtable.
Colin learnt a valuable lesson about expectations and how he has to be curious and genuine about his craft.
Tumblr media
Brad Pitt has expressed disappointment with Troy and only did the movie out of contractual obligation. "I had to do "Troy" because - I guess I can say all this now - I pulled out of another movie and then had to do something for the studio. So I was put in "Troy." It wasn't painful, but I realized that the way that movie was being told was not how I wanted it to be…But somewhere in it, "Troy" became a commercial kind of thing. Every shot was like, Here's the hero! There was no mystery."

The sand glowed.
It actually glowed and once Cordelia realized that she just stood there for a few minutes, taking in the sight. It was like she was dropped into some magical coastside fairytale location - the way the waves came in and out, drawing a small line in the sand where the sand got wet. The edges of the waves were still visible, illuminated by the light of the sand, and then the ocean got quickly lost in the darkness. It was beautiful.
And then Cordelia was moving, croushing down into the sand and first just having the sand flow through her fingers a couple of times, and then she took two big fistfuls of it and just threw it up into the air, letting it fall everywhere around her, on her while she looked up and watched as a bunch of tiny specks of glowing spots fell onto her. She let out a free, excited, amazed giggle.

She threw another fistful up and as she looked up, she noticed somebody from the corner of her eyes and as she looked, she realized it was somebody familiar. “Alex? Alex! You’re here too, that is amazing! And this, isn’t this amazing?! It feels like a fairytale.”
