"In the early years of life, everyone urges you to circulate and to make friends. Widen your horizons. Share yourself. But then, as you age, as you learn more, you realize that the circle of friends is actually very small, and you really are required to share your time and your self with only a handful of people. Treasure them. Hold them near and dear. One should be kind and patient with everyone: They all have or need something, and you are there to provide or take it. But one should move inward, and one must be very careful about what is going into and around one. Ask yourself all the time: Is this really the best thing I should be allowing into my thoughts? My life? My history? Are these really the people who can allow me to do and to be my best? One harvests and then one culls. This is how I see it."

I finished watching Lawrence of Arabia
That movie is going to stay with me for the rest of my life. I wasn’t able to see it on a big screen unfortunately because no movie theatre near me was doing a screening for the 60th anniversary. But my local library had the extended version on DVD in perfect condition so I took it as a sign from the universe that it was time to watch it. I also had to spread it out over the course of a few days cuz I work a full time job and staying up past 10 on a work night is a stretch for me these days. But now that it’s over...I think Martin Scorcese put it best. The final scene of the film is open ended in a way. Lawrence goes home, and while traveling from the desert the jeep is cut off by a motorbike, foreshadowing his death and then...fade to black. Which makes you want to watch the movie again to see how T.E. Lawrence got from point A to point B.
I am a huge fan of Peter O’Toole and was only expecting to love this movie because of him but there was so much I was awed by. For example, everyone talks about the famous transition from the match to the sunset but the transition with the purple flag in front of Lawrence’s face was SEAMLESS. And then you have the brilliance of Alec Guiness, Tony Quinn, and Claude Reins just sprinkled in there??? What a gift we get!
I can’t even fully put into words the effect this film had on me but now I know I want to own it on DVD and watch it every single year for its anniversary. What a blessing that film is.

Other than Obi Wan and C-3PO, all the characters with English accents are the villains in George Lucas’ Star Wars films. I think he was trying to get a point across with that.

KIND HEARTS AND CORONETS (Noblesse oblige) - Robert Hamer (1949)
KIND HEARTS AND CORONETS (Noblesse oblige) – Robert Hamer (1949)

Tom Hiddleston Q&A for 'Loki': T. S. Eliot's poetry as inspiration for the series (2023.11.21)
In the interview Tom talks about how he used T. S. Eliot's poetry as inspiration for the series. You can watch the SAG-AFTRA Q&A here.
Tom also gave the Four Quartets to Natalie Holt: "And on the set, when I was there in Pinewood filming, I got to chat to Tom. He was on the end of filming his part, and then I was starting the journey of the music, so we had this really lovely conversation," said Holt. "He gave me a book of poetry that had inspired him on Season 2. So, yeah, it was just great. He was saying, “Oh, I'd love to email you some thoughts that I've had, just if they might be useful.” She went on to say, "It's a T.S. Eliot book, the Four Quartets. It’s about time. Tom's a very thoughtful actor and thoughtful man, and I think he put so much into the character. He's a producer on the show, so just a big hand in how the show is, is due to Tom, I think."
I: "Burnt Norton"
“Time present and time past Are both perhaps present in time future, And time future contained in time past."
