Chissà come funziona.

The more I think about it, the more I see Richard as a sort of Mr Bennet figure. Of course, unlike Mr Bennet he does provide for his family, but there's this dynamic of good cop/bad cop where he continually relies on Emily doing "the dirty work" so he doesn't have to do it himself, coupled with a poor concept of the women in his family unless they are Rory. Well, once he has started noticing her, because at the start he doesn't seem much interested at all (he even is against having a day at the club teaching golf to Rory). But when it comes to Emily, he considers her life and her work as very low value (infuriatingly beneath Rory), will do things he knows will hurt her behind her back, and when it comes to Lorelai he also thinks very little of her and her happiness, as is shown by both Lorelai being unable to think of a single good memory she has of her father from childhood, and the cruel, brutal way in which he betrayed Jason, a person who had risked a lot in offering him the partnership. The Jason episode reveals who Richard is, deep down, when he cannot rely on Emily taking the brunt of the unpleasant jobs and blame.

These days working for a newspaper stand is so fucking disheartening. Aside from the moronic comments of the random uninformed customers, it's the newspapers themselves.
The degree of intellectual dishonesty, of acritical regurgitation of baseless misinformation, the appalling refusal to acknowledge history and reality.
I keep thinking about photographing and posting the first pages of the major newspapers to document this insanity, but on the other hand, it's all so genuinely sickening I don't even know if it makes sense to subject others to it.
If anyone has any interest in seeing how the italian press is reporting the current events, idk, let me know and I'll share

Ancient Greece left a mark in myths and literature, but do you know any Byzantine stories that are worth being recognised? Also do you know any stories by modern Greek authors that deserve the same hype as the old ones?
Yes! The issue with Byzantine literature is that too little survives and even less survives in full, which is a result of both the relentless warring and invasions of the Byzantine Empire from west and east alike and the loud indifference regarding the preservation of anything Byzantine for the longest time, as opposed to the mania with Ancient Greek literature.
Regarding Byzantine fiction in specific, which is what I think you are asking, I think three romance novels survive and an epic poetic one. That last one is the trademark of Byzantine literature:
Basil Digenés Akritas (Βασίλειος Διγενής Ακρίτας), 9 - 10th Century
This versed epic novel is the best known amongst the acritic songs. Those poems were about the exploits of the akrites, meaning the soldiers / guards living and protecting the borders of the Byzantine empire. Digenes Akritas was a hero coming from two different bloodlines, as also evident by his epithet "Digenes", his father was a Saracen emir and his mother was of Byzantine Greek noblility in Cappadocia. Digenes has essentially supernatural power - there are herculian parallels - and he is not infallible in his morals - the story narrates his bravery, manliness, exploits and romance(s), and his piety - in a paradoxical combo truly few could master as much as the Byzantines.

Erotókritos (Ερωτόκριτος), 16 - 17th Century
The monumental versed romance of post-Byzantine and very early Modern Greece is this classic of Cretan literature, composed by Vitsentzos Kornaros. Incidentally getting written the same time as Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, I will go fully on record saying it's better than Romeo and Juliet. The reason I make this comparison at all is because the general concept is similar, although it unfolds entirely differently in the process; the forbidden love between two young people and the fierce objection of the parents. And also, because I don't get the fuss around R&J. Anyway, apart from the concept, the story is different, it's a friends to lovers, not enemies to lovers, one is a royal, the other is not, and the main character is , again, a super skilled warrior on top of everything else. The story is also set in a fantastical multi-Greek world: it's officially set in Ancient Athens, but it has Byzantine, Cretan, Greek folk and Frankish elements. The lovestory of Erotokritos and Aretusa remains the ultimate Greek romance and the poem has turned into folk songs that are well known and loved by all of us. The Cretan literature of the time produced more notable works, such as Erophile, which is super morbid and dark as hell, but I don't know much about it yet so I can't recommend it.
Tumblr media
As for Modern Greek literature, I am going to state another potentially surprising opinion. I do not consider myself an expert at it, however from the little I've read I like it wayyyy more than Ancient Greek literature, excluding the Homeric epics. Granted, it might have to do with how each can possibly resonate with us but it's also about the prose. This is subjective but I LOVE modern Greek prose and poetry. My mouth always threatens to drool when reading the Skiathitic dialect of Papadiamantis *shrug*.
You didn't ask about poetry but modern Greek poetry is 100% verified drool worthy. I don't know if you know Greek though, certainly translations aren't equal to the real thing. Still, I recommend the poetry of Odysseus Elytis, Giorgos Seferis, Constantine Cavafy, Giannis Ritsos, Nikos Kavvadias, Dionysios Solomos and so many more.
As for prose, I will start as a broken record once more, with the short novel "The Murderess" (Η Φόνισσα) by Alexandros Papadiamantis. You need no more description, that's all.
Here is a list of the 200 best modern Greek novels, as voted by readers. It's in Greek though. I didn't know it, but the Murderess is the most upvoted. I approve.
I will add nine more from this list to make a random Top 10 of classics:
Ματωμένα Χώματα (Bloody Earth) by Dido Sotiriou, 1962
Ένα παιδί μετράει τ' άστρα (A child counts the stars) by Menelaus Loudemis, 1956
Παραμύθι χωρίς όνομα (Fairytale without a name) by Penelope Delta, 1910
Η Μεγάλη Χίμαιρα (The Great Chimaera) by Manolis Karagatsis, 1953
Η Ζωή εν Τάφω (Life in the Grave) by Stratis Myrivilis, 1924
Ο Χριστός ξανασταυρώνεται (Christ, Recrucified) by Nikos Kazantzakis, 1948
Βίος και Πολιτεία του Αλέξη Ζορμπά (Life and Times of Alexis Zorbas) by Nikos Kazantzakis, 1946 (also known as "Zorbas the Greek" abroad...)
Το Τρίτο Στεφάνι (The Third Marriage) by Kostas Tachtsis, 1962
Η Πάπισσα Ιωάννα (Popess Johanna) by Emmanuel Roides, 1866
Το Νούμερο 31328 (Number 31328) by Ilias Venetis, 1931

yeah sorry we normalized your boyfriend. yeah we did tag him properly, to acknowledge that some of his behaviors may be objectionable and we do not necessarily endorse them, but he still ended up being considered acritically acceptable on a large social scale. we are as baffled as you are. we could reverse it but there's a high risk that he'd be desexualized in the process. potentially even sexualized. so we decided to leave him like this. sorry

the girl (3)
I have chapter 4 half way done. I am just trying to clean it up and put some background in sliver. if everything go right I might get chapter 4 done quickly.anyone want to be my proofreader or editor. one more thing
“All mysteries get solve with time.”
I turn my head to the left to see that there was a lady in her late 30s, reading magazine .
Simple black hair. That cover her eyes. I
“What do you mean.”
“Time comes with more clues to tell a story.”
“What if the story is so unbelievable.”
Pulling her sunglasses down with her magazine, Leaving it open on the page.  Her eyes were yellowish brown. Her eyes shine like a star at midnight.
“Sometimes a story has a meaning, no matter to situation.”
“What if it feels like a memory?”
“that’s the thing with our brains. They closed off painful corridors. So, memories aren’t so clear. They can change a memory or event, so it is less painful. Making it harder to understand.”
“It takes time to heal. It takes time for more clues. It takes time to solve.” I said finally getting the bigger picture.
“There you go.”
“Would the whole brain be protecting me or whatever it’s called. would it change people or the beings in the memory.”
“It- “
“Hey sliver.”
Our conversation was cut off with a voice. Losing focus of the nice lady. I saw tails coming without sonic.
“Hey. All done?”
“Yes. Noah would be back in a minute. He had to go bathroom. We better pack up so we can split.”
Putting my journal in my bag, with my pen. having the page marked so I can continue to get at least some understanding of it. I wanted to at least thank the lady. Looking back at where she was. No one was there.  her magazine was flip open to the page she was reading
I walk over there. there was no cushion indent.  When I put my hand on where she was. Ice cold. The ice cold I thought I would have felt on that ape last night.  I look at the book she was reading. The only indicator that she was here. A random fmagazine that I read hundred and one times.
What may my spine chill was the page, she was on had an ad about Colgate toothpaste. Lady had her hand wrap like she was going to a boxing match. The wrap in her mouth trying to show how strong her teeth are. I mean they shine and there getting the tooth paste across. The model was her.  Down to the very last detail.
What made my blood turn cold that across the page was acritical. “Women died in multiple car pileup.”   farther down the article. it shows that same women by the way her name was Susie.  playing with her dog with her dog and a caption that says.
At the ripe age of 38. Susie Cook was playing with her dog mere hours before her death. This was the last photo taken when she and her family playing in the back yard. I am petrified. Am I the new ghost whisper? was I talking to a dead person? No if she was a ghost. She wouldn’t be holding or moving this book, and she drop the magazines. The wind has not been strong enough to move an entire book.
Her eyes held yellow in them not like this magazine. This has another mystery weren’t over it.
“Sliver, are you okay?”
Looking at tails that eyed me up and down with worry. My big green bag was in his little arms. Quickly grabbing the bag, so he won’t hurt him self anymore.
“I thought I saw something.”
“Did you see a ghost?”
I can't lie to a kid but I cannot fully tell him the turth. “I don’t think that possible.”
“Hey kris, sliver we got to go?”
Thank you, Noah.
Kris chasing his bigger brother. I look back and grab the magazine this was defiantly going into the journal. This is too crazy to not too.

I will explain my political ideology now so I don't have to do so in the future
Tumblr media
I uphold Marxism Leninism, the fundamental additions of Stalin and Mao, the thought of Deng and Erich Honecker.
I share the same views as east Germany on the LGBTQ+ issue, wich, for those who don't know are even more progressive than the modern Cuban one.
I'm an atheist
I vehemently support Palestine and Iran in their strugle against imperialism, color revolution and Israel.
I will be in the cold dead ground before I will stand with Ukraine, this does not mean I'm acritical of the russian federation or the states mentioned above,it means that between Putin and hitleresky I stand with Putin and the people of donbass and Crimea and the newly added regions of Russia
I stand with Armenia.
Taiwan is Chinise and so are Hong Kong and Macao.
There is only one Korea and is the DPRK,long live kim jong un.
Long live Assad.
Long live Lukashenka
Viva cuba! Viva fidel! Viva che! Viva Venezuela! Viva maduro! Muera Yankee de mierda!

You know what's interesting to me? Scrolling through twitter I noticed how many brazilian fans (and their general public) are actually super supportive of this rs, a lot more than his domestic fans who seem to be more petty and critical. All our tabloids that reported on this are mostly filled with people praising them and being proud of AB, because he chose her and she's brazilian (not even fully though). It feels like some validation type a thing and it's weirding me out.
From what I have seen, latina fans are very vocal and acritically supporting, in every fandom.

Rebeldia
