A Walk in the Garden

Rainy days bothered most people but never you and Megumi, you two saw them as shiny opportunities to go visit some of your most favorite places.

With everything your boyfriend had seen in his life, and the horrors he faces on a regular basis, he often needs reminding of all the beauty this world has to offer, and you are always willing to help him find it.

When the two of you began seeing each other, you started off small with him. Holding his hand while walking through a gorgeous park in autumn, and showing him the different little foam art that they did at your favorite coffee shop, to name a few. Little things that Megumi never took the time to notice before you were in his life.

Now, months into your relationship, he was the one who’d occasionally find events and bring them to your attention. There was a photographer he liked hosting a gallery downtown a few months ago. And just last week there was a concert held at the coffee shop he now loved as much as you do. It didn’t come as too much of a surprise when he brought an art festival to your attention, happening in a park not far from your home in just a couple of days.

The two of you decided to make a day of it. Meet for coffee as usual and then wander around the festival. The only issue was the moment you stepped out your front door, you saw those puffy grey clouds looming overhead. You just hoped the rain would hold off long enough for you two to enjoy your date.

You were only two booths in when the sky opened up and a warm rain came tumbling down. Megumi though popped open the umbrella he’d had with him and pulled you close to his side. You’d both been content still looking at art in the light rain but, all the vendors were closing up shop to your dismay. “C’mon, Ella, don’t be sad, baby. ‘M sure we can find something else to do.”

He was determined not to let the day go to waste.

Together you walked down the sidewalks, avoiding puddles that formed until an iron gate covered in ivy caught Megumi’s eye. He peeked over the fence and saw a beautiful sprawling garden on just the other side and a small booth selling tickets. He squeezed your hand and quickened his pace. There was no line to get in and only a small fee for entry. Megumi even dropped a little extra in the elderly ticket takers donation box with a small smile on his face.

There was no one else in the garden, among the topiaries, or hundreds of gorgeous blooms, the whole thing was there for the two of you to explore. And you took your time too, admiring every little flower that caught your eye.

Megumi only left your side for a couple of minutes when the man from the booth waved to him from a greenhouse. You watched him dart down the cobblestones and give you a little wave before he ducked into the shelter.

When he returned, stepping back under the umbrella with you, his dark hair now clinging to his forehead, he pulled out a bouquet from behind his back. “The grounds keeper helped me out this together, they reminded me of you,” a pink ice protea was at its center, surrounded by eucalyptus and mini green hydrangeas, “The pink one especially.”

Ever since that day, a little rain never stopped either of you from having a beautiful day together.

Do your OCs have a favorite flower?

Hiii, love! thank you for this question, i love it! i think i can tell you the favourite ones for my main female OCs, not on a sexism way, but on a way that I know them better than the male characters, maybe with the exception of Elliot.

Avalon's fav if definitely a white hydrangea. I like to think that it was her wedding flower and it symbols gratitude, grace and beauty, that are elements that I think match Avalon pretty well.

Prudence on her side is more of a traditional woman, more closed and reserved than her sisters-in-law, mainly because of her parents, that we will met on the next chapters. That make me associate her to lillies, as they are associated with purity.

On her side, Kate is just the opposite, she goes against the rules constantly and she was known for being a bit of a rebel before her parents death. That being said, she loves tulips because of their youthful vibe, but she prefers yellow ones, that represent desperate love, the way she feels about Celia.

By allusions, Celia's favorite flower is the red carnation. She comes from a Hispanic culture, and in my country, red carnations are used in several important festivities. Likewise, those of this color are related to love, pride and admiration. In addition, they are used both in happy and sad moments, I love that duality.

I also want to talk about Marianne, my favorite character (you will soon fall in love with her too). She is a very sweet girl, who loves pink and purity, so for me, Annie identifies with pink peonies. In Western culture, due to their connection to Greek myths, they are associated with shyness and shame, but also with beauty. Also, in the Eastern world, they are connected with honor, natural beauty, and good fortune. They are literally Annie.

Finally, I want to mention Elliot, who, now-a-days, is a 15-year-old heir to the kingdom, but he is also a very sweet and sensitive boy, who appreciates small and beautiful things. His favorite flower is the astilbe, which is not particularly well known; but it means hope, which is his mantra. Since Elliot is a blue character, I imagine his favorite color is blue as well, so there will always be blue astilbes in his vases.

Hehe yessssss I love flowers very very much!! And those are exactly it!!!

In terms of cosmos flowers, they are a symbol of beauty and love in Chinese culture.

Oh also! one of my fav flower facts is the legend behind the name of the “forget-me-not” flower. Apparently it’s named after this tale of a knight walking down a riverbank with his lover. she saw these beautiful blue flowers by the bank and he bent down to pick them for her but slipped and fell inside. so he tossed the flowers over to her and yelled “forget me not!” as he got carried away by the water currents since his armour was too heavy for him to get out. It’s so sad but such a pretty story.

I also love the fact that the same flowers but with different colours can have different meanings. Like hydrangeas! Pink ones are for heartfelt emotions so they’re given as confessions, white are for purity but can also be for vanity, purple is for a deep desire to understand someone, and blue are for apologies!

And haha…. yeah… I do hope you’d like my fics when my identity is revealed. Tbf you’ve read a few HAHAHAHHAH so I’ve got high hopes!

And the facts about hydrangeas makes sense!! and they are so pretty!!and I say it makes sense (as I said before I have no understanding of flowers 😭‼️) bc I remember I posted a picture of purple hydrangeas my mom had brought home and I think I posted with some song or something bc a friend messaged me if I was okay or hurt and I was like so confused bc I simply liked the flower 🧍‍♀️but uhhhh now that I see what they can mean it makes sense my friend approached me 🤪🤪

My Top Songs [2020]

Hi all!

As 2020 comes to an end (thank whatever higher power there is), I wanted to share a list of my favorite songs! (the following are songs RELEASED this year) (I’ve included a list of songs that I heard this year, but weren’t released in 2020, after it). These are mostly korean/chinese.

Alright, this is in NO particular order, just my favorites. I’ve mostly included one song from a group/solo act and added their other great releases in description. It is mostly music that I listened to, so if your favs are not here, feel free to rec me good music! ENJOY!

Black swan(orchestral version) by BTS

BTS had a great year musically. 2 korean albums, 1 japanese and lots of solo stuff. My most played songs are Dynamite (listen, she did what she had to do), Stay Gold (if gold had a sound, this would be it), Black Swan, Blue and Grey (i live for melancholy), Life Goes On (spring day’s successor), Filter(park jimin is a threat), Friends (my feels!), Louder than bombs (TROYE SIVAN), UGH (murder music), 00:00, Moon (jin solos are beautiful always) and Your Eyes Tell (honestly, show me one bad japanese single, i dare you).

Ghosting by TXT

I got into TXT a lot more this year, as opposed to being a casual listener that I was last year. Many people say they have a no-skip discography and I believe it’s true. My most played songs were Blue Hour (i ADORE this song), We Lost the summer, Wishlist, Can’t you see me (the song that made me a stan), Fairy of Shampoo (ethereal), PUMA (choi yeonjun is a threat), Eternally (an ATTACKK!) and their f2020 cover.

Ateez is another group i really got into this year, mesmerized by their performance abilities. My most played : Star 1117 (i’m very soft for this song), To the Beat (a true bop), Inception (holy jongho vocals), One day at a time and Good Lil Boy (does hongjoong ever have a bad rap verse?). Their Black Cat Nero cover also blew me away!! (i’m lowkey obsessed).

God’s menu by Stray Kids

I’ve been keeping an eye on Stray Kids ever since hellevator came out and this is my favourite song by them, so far (yes, i had a heart attack when i first saw Hyunjin). Most Played : Back Door (the beat drop gives me life, the choreo is probably my fav), All in, Easy (do they ever have a bad chorus?), GO LIVE (the beat??!! killer), Another Day (i am a slow jam hoe) and My Universe.

Pacman by eaJ

I didn’t think it was possible to love him more after day6 but Jae’s solo music has proved me wrong. Yes, i love Pillows (with Keshi) to bits but pacman is my first love. Most Played : It just is (Seori and their golden vocals), LA TRAINS (vocals!!!), Pinocchio (the mv is adorable, the beat is so fun), 50 proof (the vibes man, it's the VIBES) and TRUMAN.

Left & Right by Seventeen

Another group with amazing releases this year, I’m slowly getting into Seventeen more these days. Most Played : Fallin’ Flower (so beautiful, the vocals), 24H (the beat change?!!???), 17 (Joshua, DK and Pink Sweats) and HOME;RUN (this is a brand of fun that is entirely their own).

Not by the moon by GOT7

I am no stranger to GOT7, i’ve liked their music for years now but this is one of their more lyrical releases this year and i adore when GOT7 does this type of music. Most Played : Poison (jackson opens it and the vibes are immaculate), Last Piece (the way the vocals flow into the rap) and Thank You, Sorry.

So Beautiful by DPR IAN

This is literally the first song i’ve heard from this artist, please rec me more. I also adore No Blueberries with DPR LIVE and CL.

Eight by IU, Prod. SUGA

IU is an indisputable vocal queen, and her music always comforts me greatly so when i heard she was having a song produced by Yoongi, i promptly lost my shit. It was everything I expected and more and embodies sorrow and pain with great grace. Give you My Heart from the ‘Crash Landing on you OST’ was also a loved song this year.

Cry for me by TWICE

How do i talk about the queens? TWICE is the group i go to when I want fun music with good vibes but this song has such bad b*tch vibes that i am in love. Most played : More & More (a bop), Don’t call me again, I can’t stop me (i love the way it flows), Handle It (the vocals??? How pretty this song is???) and Say Something (seriously, eyes wide open is an amazing album).

Criminal by Teamin

Where do i start with Lee Taemin? I love almost all his solo stuff. He grabbed me by the neck ever since ‘Move’ and hasn't let go. Criminal is SO taemin that i don't think anyone else could have delivered the concept with such grace and grit. Most Played : 2 Kids (the chorus is so good), Clockwork, Idea (i love the vibe) and Pansy (i'm a ballad hoe).

Maria by Hwasa

Listen, i loved Twit when it came out but i love Maria as her sound so much more. Most Played : I’m bad too (feat. DPR LIVE) (i love the beat, the vibe and the flavor), LMM and Orbit from ‘The King: Eternal Monarch OST’ (as soon as her voice comes in, i loved the song).

Breath by DEAN, Rad Museum, Mokyo

I’m not aware of many DEAN releases this year, please feel free to rec me if I missed any.

Dear my friend by Agust D ft. Kim Jong Wan (NELL)

D-2 was everything expected from the second mixtape off Agust D and yet it brought a fresh wave of singing and melodies, once again proving the man’s production genius. This song is so reminiscent in it’s lyrics and still so real, its my favorite off the record.Other songs I loved : People, Deachwita and What do you think? (i DID love the complete mixtape though).

Given - Taken by Enhypen

Yes, I watched I-LAND. Given-Taken was a better debut then I expected at first. 10 months (the chorus and beat) and Flicker off their debut album were also played a lot.

I just want to stay with you by Zion.T

The King: Eternal Monarch was a much awaited drama for a lot of people and it’s OST is one of the best ones this year. Zion.T’s amazing vocals really did an amazing job of expressing the love in the story. Other songs I really liked from this album were Gravity by Kim Jong Wan and the Hydrangea Instrumental by Lee Geon Yeong.

The purge by Jay Park, pH-1, Woodie Gochild, Sik-K, and others.

H1GHER: RED TAPE is my hype album of the year. All artists involved did an amazing job. Seriously, get yourself some bomb ass beats, as a treat. Other loved tracks : Telefono Remix (Woodie Gochild is great at his flavour of delivery), Closed Case and The Arrival.

Soul by Lay (zhang yixing)

Yixing’s album LIT was his best project till date, no arguments. He’s really evolved into such a refined musician, especially with how well he merges traditional chinese instruments into Hip Hop/RnB beats and I adore the vibe of this album. Although the album is great entirely, Soul is my favourite for how softly and prettily it flows. Other loved tracks: Eagle (the BEAT), Fly, Boom (bops on bops on BOPS) and Call My Name.

100 ways by Jackson Wang

It is astounding how well Jackson has formed his own style of music ever since starting off with Papillon. He’s also sort of come into himself as an artist and it has birthed some great music. Other loved tracks : Pretty Please (i love the vibe of the song!) and Should’ve Let Go (ft. JJ Lin).

SUGA’s interlude by Halsey

Idk how else to explain it but Halsey and Yoongi have great music synergy. There’s something about their song/lyric writing that matches very well and needless to say, I adore the song. Blueberry eyes by MAX is also another great Yoongi collab.

In Your Time by Lee Suhyun

It’s Okay to not be Okay had an OST that was dreamy, gritty and very fairytale-esque, much like the drama itself. Among a bunch of great songs, this one is my favourite. Other loved songs: You’re Cold by Heize (always delivers!), Breath by Sam Kim (OST angel), Hallelujah by Kim Feel (chills!), In Silence by Janet Suhh (literally how angelic is her tone??), I’m your Psycho by Janet Suhh (it’s creepy in a dreamy way) and Brother | Her World | Through the dark Tunnel of time | Butterfly - all amazing instrumentals by Nam Hye Seung and Park Sang Hee (seriously, go listen to the album).

By my side by Junny

Another great discovery towards the end of the Year, Junny has vocals for DAYS and admirable delivery. Other loved songs: AURA ft. pH-1, edge (this is so hypnotising in it’s beauty) and I will. Please feel welcome to educate me more about this artist!!

Make a Wish by NCT

NCT always provides bops and NCT U is my favourite sub-unit, for their unique style of music, so when they came out with this song I was ready and they delivered! Most Played : 90’s Love (the old boy band theme was so well done), From Home (i’m a sucker for slow songs), Nectar (yes, i adore WayV’s music), MAD DOG by NCT 127 and Kick It by NCT 127 (this is the flavour of NCT i LOVE).

Zombie by Day6

Day6 has always been in my daily otations and as always, they put out good music after good music. I loved both the original Korean and the English versions of this song (they do rock well, what else is there to say?). Other loved songs : Tick Tock (oh the vocals, the way the beat moves!), Love me or Leave me, Day and Night... actually the whole Album is great, go listen to ‘The Book of us: The Demon’.

Fearless by Ma Di [other chinese songs]

Chinese songs have been a surprisingly pleasant addition to my daily rotation. Fearless from the “Go Ahead” OST takes the top stop because of how well it embodies the struggles of stepping into adulthood, the melody and MaDi’s amazing vocals. Other Chinese songs I loved: Praise for Red Plum Blossoms by Xiao Zhan (the perfect welcoming of spring paired with such expressive vocals), Remaining Years by Xiao Zhan (Joy of Life OST) and his OST for the Oath of Love.

It was good? but also sucked a lot. I had a lot of issues with my mental health and struggled for a long while with something. I was bullied and stuff at home wasnt always that great. And i got outed so that was fun. Other than that I enjoyed swimming competitively and I got into art

I dont really do much on my birthdays? Ive had a lot of nice birthdays and it usually involves going out to dinner or having a nice dinner at home and having birthday cake and playing games like jenga or yahtzee.

hi!!! who are the antagonists of your paracosm? what are your paras favourite things?

Hey there!! I honestly don’t have real antagonists in my paracosms, most of my daydreams focus purely on my paras, their lives, struggles, friendships and relationships. On the rare occasion that there are antagonists, they’re often faceless, as in, they don’t really matter? They’re there to fulfil a specific role, and that’s it. In Genesis, that would be the giant robots & the aliens behind them, but so far they haven’t really played a big role or anything.

And funny that you ask that, I actually have pinterest boards with my paras favorite things! Tho most of them are empty lmao. I’m gonna keep with their actual favorite things (like, color, animal, you get it) because if I list all their actual fav stuff it’d get way too long.

Zazie’s favorite animal is actually just.. normal house cats. He adores them. Give him a kitty and he’ll just be sittin there petting it for the next 2 hours. He has a sweet tooth, and he loves anything with chocolate. Preferably something baked, like chocolate cake or brownies. He likes different kinds of plants and flowers a lot, but he’s extremely bad at taking care of them. He has a lot of succulents in his house since they don’t need much care, and he likes how they look. Roses are his favorite flowers, the classic red ones, but he’d ruin them within a week so he really can’t keep them. He doesn’t care much for colors, he prefers blacks & greys, tho he does seem to like red.

Tatsu is literally the exact opposite in everything. His favorite animal are dogs! He’s the kind of person to always go up to people and ask if he can pet their dog. While he obviously also likes sweets, he loves spicy foods even more. And anything with pasta. He also likes different kinds of seafoods (urgh). And of course contrary to Zazie, he also has a green thumb. His apartment is full of plants, so full that you actually have to be careful not to knock anything over. His favorite are sunflowers. He likes blue, yellow & pink! He usually wears mainly black with one or two colorful items.

Nyru’s fav animals are cats (big & small), wolves, ravens and crows, horses penguins.. the list goes on and on. Her favorite color is purple, by far, but she mostly wears black. And she really likes silver accessories. She’s an extremely picky eater and honestly dislikes most foods, and she likes her meals very simple. And she eats way too much fast food, she’s just way too lazy to actually make food. She either orders in/eats fast food or she asks Zazie to cook for them. She also has a sweet tooth, mainly for chocolate bars & ice cream. She likes flowers a lot, specifically roses, hydrangeas and forget-me-nots.

There’s a few things for my other paras as well, but I really.. don’t give that much thought? Except for like, favorite foods. I hope this answers your questions tho 🙊

Favorite Season: hmmm... I like aspects of all the seasons, but summer is probably my favorite. Mostly because, where I live, the only way to tell the difference between Autumn, Winter, and Spring, is by looking at what the plants are doing. Trees change color in Fall, lose their leaves in Winter, and are VERY green in Spring. Other than that, temperature and weather don’t change a whole lot between the three: lots and lots of chilly rain. So Summer is a nice (if a bit short) reprieve, I get to actually be WARM while I’m outside.

Favorite Book Series: Artemis Fowl, without a doubt. Though Harry Potter and H.I.V.E (Higher Institute of Villainous Education) are up there as well.

Favorite Flower: Based on looks would be Sakura (technically a tree...), Hydrangea (technically a bush...), or Daffodil flowers, but I think my favorite in general are Chocolate Cosmos, they aren’t much to look at, but when the sun hits them they smell like melted chocolate!!

Favorite Color: G R E E N. All shades, but especially ones that have more yellow in them, they just look brighter and more inviting.

Favorite Animal: Frog!! (as I’m sure my url makes abundantly clear). Turtles come in a close second, along with Dinosaurs, Sharks, Crocodiles, Goliath Tiger Fish... and pretty much anything that has scales and/or sharp teeth ^^;

Favorite Artists/Bands: Owl City, 3OH!3, Linkin Park, Circus-P, Hitoshizuka-P & Yama^(I don’t know how to add the triangle), Machigarita-P, Kradness, Reol, Touyu, Mafumafu, Soraru, Last Note, Senka, Mii-chan, nqrse, 30 seconds to Mars... those are all I can think of at the moment.

Average Sleep: I have no sleep schedule. One week I’ll be going to sleep at 9PM and waking up at 6AM. And the next I’ll be going to sleep at 2AM and waking up at 9AM. The only consistency I’ve found, is that I need at least four hours to be able to make it through the day without absolutely having to take a nap somewhere in the middle, and at least six hours to make it through the day without feeling tired from lack of sleep. WHEN I get those hours, however, is completely random.

Number of blankets I sleep with: One thick poofy one, and one thin fuzzy one. I’ve found that’s the best combo to retain heat in the colder months. When the fuzzy one is on the inside, it matches your body-heat quickly, and the poofy one on the outside keeps the heat in :) And in the summer, I switch to just the poofy one, it takes longer to heat up + isn’t as clingy so it’s not stifling.

Number of Followers: 36, which is about double the number I had before DGMFanWeek2k17 :) (events like that are a great way to get people looking at your stuff! All the people looking through a specific tag for a whole week)

What I usually post about: DGM pretty much exclusively... especially theories and analyses when I find them! That and my art, but that’s mostly DGM anyway XD Sometimes I’ll post art or writing tips, and rarely, my own fanfiction (but that’s kind of difficult since I haven’t quite figured out tumblr’s formatting system yet).

My Aesthetic: Sunlight filtering through tree leaves!! Underwater, where you can see the ripples of light dance on the bottom!! Falling asleep to the drumming of rain on the roof or watching the ripples it makes in the puddles outside through the window, wrapped in a fluffy blanket, forehead pressed to the glass. Late evenings listening to the rolling rumbles of a rare thunderstorm and running to the window to watch the lightning until the storm has blown too far away to see the flashes anymore. Power outages!! Sometimes lasting for a week!! Playing pictionary by the light of a flashlight with the neighbor-kids, while dad makes breakfast for dinner on the wood-stove. Long car rides, hours spent staring out the window, watching the scenery pass. Fourth of July!! Running up and down the street, constantly turning ‘round and ‘round with a giant grin, trying to catch every single flower of fire blooming in the sky, feeling the booms reverberate in your chest, and the trees are blocking parts of the sky, have to run! run, trailing sparklers and smoke behind you, and move to get the best view of every flash!! The first year with a mortar, finally able to add flowers to the fleeting garden, but accidentally putting the shell in upside down and it misfires, not going as high as it should, and E X P L O D I N G, sparks shooting past on all sides because you’re Inside! Inside the firework! wanting to reach out and catch the stars as they fly by! Watching them hang in the air, for a moment suspended as a cloud a fairy lights, and fading, like the fae themselves slip out of mortal sight.
