I’m planning on making an incorrect summary of ibvs and this was one of the first ideas i had
THIS REMINDS ME OF THE TIME I WAS BORED IN CLASS AND WASTED LIKE TWENTY PAGES OF MY NOTEBOOK BY SCRIPTING A "IBVS IN A NUTSHELL" THING
tags are just me being nostalgic
#it was so fun but the only joke i remember from it was that i called the nevin goop ''gak''#and planned for someone to say ''the gak is back'' when it appeared again#but i got bored of the whole thing after season one so i never ended up writing that part of it#i made a couple little sprites as well but the lines were too thick and they looked bad. even for in a nutshell sprites.#man ive gotta go find that again. gonna search for it in my notebook.#okay its been two minutes since the last tag and i found it#okay highlights:#''the demon king of high school has decreed it. he says monday 8am i will be deleted'' (heathers reference)#*closeup of issac* *closeup of the door to the art room* *zoom out to show the closet door in between them* ''well frick''#oh god i was so hostile towards chris in this. not even pointing out actual flaws; i just went straight for the jugular. oh poor boy.#KIDS BOP XTALE i guess i couldnt be bothered to simplify his backstory#''haha magic? that's dumb. why would magic exist? magic doesn't exist. you're nor magical. i - definitely - am not magical.#why would i ever be magical? if i was magical you would know but i'm not magical so yeah glad that's settled.#*talking to viewers* my name is nevin jovel. i have magic powers and do an amazing job at hiding them.''#*also talking to viewers* ''my name is drew jovel and nevin's a fucking idiot if he thinks i'm falling for that''#''and i'm chris!''#CHRIS JUST SAYING ''ANIME FALL'' anime boy frrr#''i didn't. not at all. i am a normal human being. i cannot do that by myself. what do you think i am? a wizard?#because i am no wizard i have nothing to do with wizardry i-''#okay nevin definitely had my favorite running gags. running gaks. hah.#charlie: ''my anime senses are tingling'' it would have been such a good place for a 'ghost sense' danny phantom reference :(#nevin: ''day 4 of hoping nothing supernatural happens'' . monika: ''hello!'' . nevin: ''why''#okay so in between every chapter i planned for there to be a screen with the chapter number on it#''nah i'm good'' [CHAPTER 12] ''that was your cue to leave''#WAS IT EVER CANON THAT DEZ FOUND THE MONIKA RITUAL ON WIKIHOW OR WAS THAT JUST SOMETHING MY MIND MADE UP#there's a reference to it here and i swear i wholeheartedly believed it was canon for months#''never trust a wikihow ritual'' god that might be my favorite singular sentence ive written here#''what do you mean? nothing happened. it was just a normal day. nothing witchy happened i have nothing to do with witchcraft#it was just a stalker yes a stalker that i chased away with a hose not a witch that i scared away with witchcraft witches dont exist''#NOOO THATS ALL THE TAGS IT CAN HANDLE i'll have to reblog and add more

My birthday was a couple days ago, and I got to see my bio dad for the first time in a while. He surprised me with the fact that I have a little half-sister, whom I've never met and who was adopted about two years back. So, I wondered if any situations in BB mimic this or have a theme of "secret siblings" or "secret family"? Sorry if this is a weird ask; this blog is honestly just such a cool little place and I love the way you approach the subject matter and take the flawed misogynistic foundation of the WC books and make them so much better (JUSTICE FOR BUMBLE!!!). I've also learned a lot about healthy and unhealthy relationships here and am really glad for your deep dives on Squilf and Bramble. Thanks, Bones!
Not weird at all! I really like exploring all the little nooks and crannies of complicated familial dynamics. I think one of the untapped strengths of WC (that the writers seem to be unaware of) is how their MASSIVE cast allows them to present all sorts of unique dynamics. So I like to pick up on it, since they don't.
For secret siblings...
I'm pretty heavily leaning towards Ambermoon being adopted by Wildfur, as a surrogacy. Something feels correct about it. Especially since Icecloud is getting retooled into a post-Battle of the True Eclipse birth, and a major supporting character in AVoS-era stories as a friend of Alderheart.
Thinking about it, I should zoom in and expand this. Maybe have Icecloud, somehow, acquire forbidden knowledge that would invalidate the Queen’s Rights and he (transman) struggles with if he's going to use it to expose his parents as an excuse to help Ambermoon.
(Especially since Ambermoon and Icecloud are basically nothing alike. Amber is independent, bold, and vain. Ice is jessie pinkman big-hearted, disorganized, and deceptively meek if you look past his "chill" demeanor)
But that's wip-- there's also Breezepelt and the Three, who are going to have an actual friendship. In particular I can't unsee Breeze and Lion having a deep one. I know I commit the Cardinal Sin of borderline himbo-ifying Lionblaze in BB, but I can't help it.
Hollyleaf ended up nabbing a bunch of his most violent roles to make her villainous descent smoother narratively, so BB!Lionblaze's story ends up being more focused on Ashfur's abuse, comic relief with cats in other Clans (something that the very serious Jay and Holly have a hard time providing), and the emotional fallout of the big reveal and Bramblestar's turn on them. Breezepelt slots neatly into that.
They were friends. Lionblaze's whole life came down around the reveal, everyone looking at him and his siblings differently, like they're suddenly something terrible. Why can't we find a silver lining, Breezepelt? Why can't we call ourselves brothers if the whole world is going to do it anyway? So much is changing, but THIS doesn't have to, we will take their weapon and turn it to armor, my ally, my friend, my brother.
(and when Breezepelt is lashing out at the three because of the Dark Forest's influence, Lionblaze is there, taking the blows and trying not to give in to the impulse to send him flying with a single paw)
There's also Harespring and Kestrelflight of WindClan and Owlclaw of ShadowClan. All of them are from a single litter between Whitewater and Mudclaw. She was going to raise the three of them alone as ShadowClan cats, but when the sire was smote, Whitewater felt they were cursed.
She was able to give the oldest two to their bio-uncle, Torear, but the weather was so bad that day and the runt was so sickly and small that it surely would have killed him. I don't think Owlclaw ever finds out why his mother always treated him with suspicion, but it did mess him up horribly.
Over in BB!DOTC, Thunder Storm is getting more half-siblings earlier. Clear Sky and Falling Feather had two daughters-- Pale Sky and Tiger Sky.
I want to explore the way that the various stages of Clear Sky's life acted on his kids. How any little curiosity Thunder Storm had about the life he might have had if he wasn't abandoned is crushed by seeing kittens who weren't. How Clear's favoritism of his oldest child set the trio against each other from the start. How this idea of "love" is toxic yet intoxicating.
It feels good to be the golden child. The power it gives you over his sycophants is satisfying. To know you, and you alone, have what someone else craves. Problem is, that's conditional, and it's cruel.
What Thunder Storm learns from his time with his biodad is that Clear Sky is not his father at all. He's taught him exactly what he DOESN'T want to be. There may be similarities-- in temperament, in physical prowess (though BB!Thunder is three-legged, he's still ripped), in taste and senses. But Thunder Storm's father is Shaded Flower.
(BB!Gray Wing died in the first book, rescuing Shaded Flower from being trampled by a horse. Xey're a patron of wisdom, Shaded Moss is taking the role of fatherhood to Thunder)
His sister is Rainswept Flower. His mom is Bright Storm. If there was a bond he could have had with Tiger Sky and Pale Sky, it dies simply and cruelly on the knife they used to cut each other out.
Pale might have wanted to mend it, she was the gentler one. But she dies in the First Battle along with her mother. Tiger Sky is too stubborn to accept any help, should Thunderstar offer it, and Thunderstar isn't in the business of begging for others to like him.
Naturally I'm lowkey obsessed with them lmao. I need to make a BB!DOTC overviewww
#I have a perspective on half siblings colored by a dynamic in my family#The generation above me has two siblings who had an awful biodad and an amazing stepdad (who did officially adopt them)#And there was nothing ''natural'' or good about how one of them was obsessed with their biodad.#It was influenced by his surroundings and did nothing but drag an incredibly toxic man back into his sister's life#Over and over#But anyway the son used to tell me ''theres no half in siblings''#The daughter adored her halfbrother through the mother who raised them-- but was adamant that her biodad's newer kids were nothing to her#I guess I agree with the son. But not in the way he believes it#There's no half in siblings because you either Are. Or you are Not.#You have a shared experience with having that person as a parent or you don't. And that's what's unchanging.#It's not the blood; it's the sweat and tears. But anyhoo#Personal details of my life aside#Tiger Sky and Pale Sky are Clear's Dead Angel Fetus Children in-canon. I think that was Weird.#So instead I made them. Not. Dead angel fetus children....#They're characters now lmaoo#Better bones au#I think Tiger Sky (i call her Tigs in my head a lot) is one of my favorite kit saves ever though#She's not going to be from the last litter either. I haven't picked who the mom is yet but he does have even more#At least one of those is going to make a grab at power but um. Sparrow Heart will not react Well.#BASICALLY lads I'm cooking. My revamps of the DOTC characters basically write themselves because I am very fond of them.#Clear's youngest: ''OH I JUST CANT WAIT TO BE KI-"#Sparrowstar: ''-lled.''

no idea if anyhting of the sort has been asked before but i was wondering mostly based off my past experiences
would bill be the kind of guy who is just Very Aware of like . sensations in his body and have it lead to shit like having a problem with chewing off old skin and stuff. In the sense that oh crud its just a Smidgen of old skin peeling off it's going INTO the Chomper or just out of boredom because He Can Do That
maybe both
like ohh . i think i feel a corner of my lip peeling off im gnawing that off or ohhh is that a little bit of skin slash nail at the tip of my finger i see i wonder if i can bite that off . Seems Cool .
apart from that your fic is feeding me so well and it took me a week to realize "lord almighty thats the same author that wrote those really fucking funny Alastor In Situations fics". i think a small part of my brain was in denial for whatever deranged reason there was .
ALASTOR IN SITUATIONS FICS LMAO. That really is what most of my fics about him are.
I think Bill is really aware of body sensations, but the sensations he is/isn't aware of have really low correlation to what a human who's overly aware of body sensations would be aware of. Like, this is the guy who's violently nauseous trying to comb his hair but who mixes mustard with maple syrup.
You and I have an idea of what our body should look like when it's Right—when our skin is whole and healthy and smooth, when our nails are cut correctly. If a little flake of skin is peeling off, if we have a hangnail, if there's a tear or a bump or a ridge that shouldn't be there, we know that's a Little Bit Wrong, and for some people that Little Bit Wrongness gets really really irritating until they remove it.
Bill doesn't have an internal conception of a Right human body. For him there's no such thing as a Right body that's human. You can't pick/chew at individual flaws when you perceive everything as one unending flaw. A human body is all skin flakes upon skin flakes, dead cells waiting to peel and slough free, odd little bumps and ridges and pores and wrinkles and folds... He could exfoliate his entire body down to the bone and then he'd find fault with the bone's texture.
Look at this image and remove the dots that are wrong.
Tumblr media
Do you have the slightest idea which of these dots are supposed to be "wrong"?
What criteria do you base it on? It's all just visual noise.
It's hard to even focus on any particular dots.
Even if I tell that the yellow dots are what's "wrong"...
Tumblr media
... is it any easier to see them in the image above? Even knowing what you should be looking for, you have to hunt for them. It takes hard focus to see the yellow dots separately from their neighbors in all that noise. You'll never find all of them unless you zoom in and go pixel by pixel. They just don't stand out. And still nothing about the yellow dots really feels "wrong" to us on an instinctive, visceral level. And if you do take out all the "wrong" yellow dots—do you know which color you're supposed to fill in instead? Even knowing what's wrong isn't enough for you to figure out what's right!
That's what flaws on human skin are like to Bill. It's nonsense on a plane of more nonsense. He's still grappling with the fact that he's bones slathered in meat rather than pure energy under a foil-thin shell of electrified gold. He is NOT in an emotional place to even NOTICE a hangnail.
When his skin starts to bother him, he's less likely to pick at little bits of it and more likely to be fighting the urge to claw it clean off.
He's more often bothered by things like the sound/feeling of his own breathing and choose to stop it for a few seconds just to get some GODDAMN PEACE AND QUIET FOR ONCE before reluctantly starting to breathe again because he knows he has to, ugh. Sometimes he moves his arms and is conscious of ribs under his chest. Sometimes he turns his head instead of his whole torso and gets a queasy sensation from being reminded he has a spine rather than a hard exoskeleton. He still sticks food in his eye when he's distracted and he's uncomfortable that he can't see his food inside his mouth. THAT'S the level of "bothered by bodily sensations" he's on.
(However: if he gets a cut/scrape, he definitely licks the blood off. He's the specific kind of weirdo that fits the "licks his own blood as a deliberate conscious thing" archetype. You know the type. Adolescent pseudo-goths keen to develop morbid fascinations.)

Number 21 for the game? Be as rancid as you like :)
21. part of canon you think is overhyped
Rancid license received. Rancid takes will be delivered swiftly! :D
Ok so I will defend TCW to my last dying breath, and yet as someone who used to think that Star Wars lore is so messy due to the decades of multimedia, I have to say that just this show alone LOVES to contradict itself. I've done the sweaty stinky TCW worldbuilding research and by all accounts it doesn't make sense. The goddamn Hardeen arc 💀 this show manages to pull off the most world-breaking shit in such an entertaining and endearing way that it becomes easy to look past the glaring screaming flaws somehow. Like yknow. It's good!! I has substance! It also sucks a little though?? (<- quintessential Star Wars experience ig)
Also, the Mandalorians, or at least the part of their culture that everyone zooms in on. You know the one. It's been sucked completely dry for me and I've always felt a lil icky about the portrayal of this hashtag ancient highly religious highly militaristic people in The Mandalorian. That mix of societal traits never bodes well. It feels like the writers of the Mandalorian and adjacent shows like TBoBF didn't realize that and glorified their own creation to an uncomfortable degree. TCW actually handled this pretty well, with Mandalore being troubled and torn by its martial traditions and dragged down by a power-seeking traditionalist militia, because that's just what tends to happen in societies like that. The Mandalorian though... idk season 3 was too much of a mess to even say anything abt it lmao I'm just unbelievably sick of Grogu's face. Chucking this green gnome with malicious intent, hope something eats him like he ate that lizard lady's unhatched children!

From a FAKE rented cottage at the San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, CA, Harry told his good global therapist:
"Meg gives me my space."
Why wasn't the good doctor allowed to meet at their massive Montecito Olive Garden SPACE?
Byrony was allowed to conduct their interview in the so called, "guest house" (as Sparry hung family photos on the wall). Afterwards she was rewarded to step foot across the threshold of the REAL "mansion" to observe and testify to the UK of the "normal" family living behind their very own security wall.
How much "space" does a spouse need? Anderson, Bradbury, Variety and even NOoprah were denied entrance to Casa de Montecito.
With so many "lemon trees," The Meghans still PAID a HOTEL to stage:
pandemic zoom calls & interviews
BLM & pro Biden Bench speeches
40th bday juggling act
chatting with teenagers
AGT (except the meghans who have zero talent)
Spotify Spots
magazine photoshoot & interviews
The very fake mockumentary megflop soap opera filmed inside various rented hotel cottages, on rented benches
All 1 hour away from Montecito at Santa Barbara's San Ysidro Ranch for megflix.
The Meghans still expect Americans to think it's normal to request discounts at a NYC hotel while suing his grandmother's government for (FREE) tax payer funded security.🧐
How convenient for megs that everytime she moved to a new country or city, her self titled "gay husband," Mr. Markus Anderson (former Soho House Bus Boy) chose to relocate to live w/her or near her
La->NYC
NYC->Toronto
Toronto->London
London->California
In LA, Meg was known as a serial celesbian to the stars. So how did Sparry & Eugenie become bffs with Omit's former gutter guyfriend, the infamous Markus Anderson?
Does MA's influence on the young BRF begin with Misha NooNoo and her friendship with Yorkie Eugenie? It would make sense that Eugenie, was the easy workaround to Sparry. What about all the photos of the York family posing, Sarah included, with sleazy Ron Burkle🤮😖😳
Of course Sparry preferred to party at Soho House instead of working on his character flaws. No coincidence that on more than 1 occasion, Sparry was videotaped pinching or sucking the nipples of male friends & male strangers.
Over the past 12-24 months we've seen Sparry become more effeminate in his motions, walk, speech, and who can forget seeing Sparry rub the back of his male partner as they enter his alleged personal man cave.
According to Caitlyn Jenner:
"supposedly they have a place in LA"
and Harry spends his free time in San Francisco. Is it any wonder Thirsty Tyler Perry who has his own skeletons declared he doesn't want love if it isn't The Meghans kind of love.🙄
Meghan, Markus & Dorito have made all of Sparry's dreams come true.
Dear Sparry, I hope finding your freedom & freebies in CA with your new "friends" was worth the price of your soul. By the way, it's not.
Meghan must feel like she can finally see a light at the end of her failed attempt to destroy the BRF via Sparry. In the end, it was the Queen of England who accurately SUSSed out the heart of Rachel Meghan Markle: an interloper who repaid good with evil.

batfam and phones:
dick- iphone user and annoying about it. literally the worst omg. speaker phone all the time good luck calling him to have a private conversation because it's gonna be all over town by the end of the day, possibly even the next city over depending on where he is. and he always wants to face time! you text him to ask a simple yes/no question and all you get back is 'ft me' like come onnnnnn bro 😩.
jason- based android user 🤪💖. does NOT vibe with how far phones have come since he died. no he does not wanna talk to the robot phone lady NO he is not giving the phone his fingerprint or letting it scan his face you are crazy you are weird what is wrong with you. he sucks so bad at facetime too he just doesn't get it. he also thinks airpods are stupid <3
tim- the kind of iphone user that should really get an android. refuses to put a case on his phone because he's a menace to society and his own wallet. it's actually so tragic because if anyone could get the most out of those fancy iphone camera features it would be tim but nooooooooo he dropped his phone from the top of the dinosaur in the batcave last week and now the only thing he can do on it is tell siri to call people 😒.
steph- iphone user but hot? idk. shes on her third pair of airpods this month but she would rather die than buy a wire headphone adapter. her phone is always goingoff because she's in every groupchat ever and she sets so many alarms but forgets why she set them in the first place. uses air drop for nefarious purposes (a rare win for jason nation on the phone front 🥳).
ex: (most embarrassing highlight reel of all time. if you didn't think she saw you you're wrong because she did 💖)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
duke- iphone user because bruce bought him his phone. he didn't wanna be rude! if he wasn't so worried about hurting bruce's feelings he'd switch to android so fast. will leave you on read intentionally as well as unintentionally it's his fatal flaw 💔. he's just not a big texter! he thinks about how to respond and then forgets to actually type it out and send it. you'd have better luck in a group chat rather than messaging him directly. his ringtone is probably some naruto op lol.
cass- also subjected to iphone because bruce bought her phone but she doesn't really care because she prefers being face to face anyway. do not call her she hates talking on the phone and she will not answer. she'll watch the phone ring and then text you after to get her point across. uses airdrop for good (jason nation loses once again 😔).
ex:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
bruce- iphone user but doesn't care about the whole debate. most of his kids have iphones so he has one to make getting in touch with them easier (sorry jason lol 🤭). sets his phone up on a stand so whenever you ft him he looks like he's in a zoom meeting. responses to texts are either entire essays or a simple 'k'. there is no in between.
damian- another bruce appointed iphone user who could not care less. also absolutely terrible at facetime. him and jason get it from talia 💖. tbh the only things he uses his phone for are, setting alarms, googling things for homework assignments and drawing references, and the cheese viking mobile game.

i don't care if bsd is believable. i don't care if the plot twists make sense, because honestly they never really have made much sense and they don't necessarily need to. bsd tends to be kind of ridiculous and a lot of times that's what makes it fun and endearing. i am perfectly willing to suspend my disbelief for this show.
i do care if bsd is rewarding tho, and i don't feel like this was a particularly rewarding season finale as far as dazai's character goes. another dazai ex machina ending to a season isn't the problem here for me; it's the doubt that resolution is retroactively casting on everything dazai has done and said in the last arc. it makes the sincerity of everything he said suspect. it makes me wonder if he was ever really in danger. how much dazai knew, how assured he was of his victory isn't entirely clear, but that doesn't really matter. what matters is that enough of the conflict in the mersault arc was shown to be not real, and that puts everything in a different light. it makes any vulnerability or weakness dazai showed during the arc seem inconsequential, and it makes it feel less genuine dazai's speech to chuuya when he was "drowning" chuuya was interesting when the chapter released because it had so many character and relationship implications. dazai, pragmatic and logical as he is, being capable of killing chuuya if he had to but not incapable of feeling nothing about it. it made you wonder if perhaps dazai might be doing something he'd regret, if he'd realize only once it's too late the true consequences of his actions. dazai saying for years that he wants to kill chuuya and genuinely believing that he wants him dead, only to realize once he's succeeded at that that his life is missing something without chuuya there to irritate him... that's interesting! that's opening up a whole world of possibilities for dazai's character and their relationship. even if chuuya survives, dazai still may be faced with the realization that hey, he doesn't want chuuya dead. it forces him to really reckon with the magnitude of importance chuuya has in his life, which, for all of their unspoken trust, may be something dazai has taken for granted. it might make him re-examine his feelings or himself. it might change the dynamic between them.
now that there's the possibility of it being pre-planned, that speech loses it's weight— and the character implications of it are somewhat lost. of course, there is the possibility that dazai didn't know at the time, that he only figured it out at some point during the events of the game. it's certainly open to interpretation and it's definitely interesting to interpret it that he didn't know at the time, but it's an equally valid interpretation that dazai knew all along, so it shifts the exploration of dazai's character and his feelings for chuuya from the realm of canon to fanon.
but the way that the vampire fake-out plot twist is presented does strip some of the possibility for vulnerability from dazai's words. it casts enough doubt on it to make it plausible that he was just fucking around, that it doesn't really mean anything. it keeps dazai in a secure place of superiority in the narrative and makes him immune to normal character flaws and weaknesses. dazai, as a person, is supposed to be learning to trust and he wins because of that trust, but it's falling flat for dazai as a character (for me, at least) because we don't believe there was ever really a risk that he'd fall. as the audinece, we can see asagiri setting up a safety net and it negates the impact of the trust fall that dazai is supposedly doing. basically this plot twist is the emotional equivalent to seeing a video of someone jumping off a ledge and then the camera zooms out and you realize what you thought was a 30 foot drop is actually only about 3 feet. and not only is it not rewarding, but it makes me feel like i was silly for being worried in the first place.

If you're still taking au headcanon prompts, Hartley as a recurring rogue/ teaming up with more rogues circa s1/early s2 OR whoops, s1 Eddie got powers from the particle accelerator
Oh, they both sound fun though.
Hartley's plan worked. He got Harrison to admit he knew the accelerator was flawed. He got Ramon to get him out the Pipeline, and he pointed them in the direction they needed to look to find out how to help Ronnie (he will not admit this is part of his plan).
He saw Harrison run though, when he broke the window, saw the traces of red lightning, and that seems like bad news for him. He heard a rumour about another speedster, one who killed people at Mercury Labs, and Hartley has a terrible feeling he just inadvertently got on the wrong side of a murderer
But he does know the Flash has weaknesses, and knows Snart and Rory didn't make it to Iron Heights. He can find them, and he's sure he can build them new guns easily enough if Ramon can do it.
Leonard just steals the blueprints and Barry's name from Cisco, Hartley does build the guns, and Lisa's Gold Gun, and he's got an idea for a flute that might come in handy
Hartley helps with the not actually handing anyone over to shady government organisations part of the Pipeline plan. This is when they recruit Shawna to the Rogues, and maybe Mark.
Mark's still grumpy he didn't get to do his tidal wave plan and Leonard's very insistent the Flash made him promise not to kill people any more, but Hartley still persuades him to join the group by saying killing the Flash will give him some revenge for a few minutes, or he can cause problems for the Flash constantly by helping them steal things and cause chaos he's got to go deal with, and more of them have a better chance of beating him and showing him up in front of the whole city. Mark's a little dubious, but willing to give it a try, since it'll make them all rich
All the Rogues are willing to help with the stop Lewis Snart plan, especially when they find out what he's done to Lisa, even if it means teaming up with the Flash. Hartley goes in as the tech guy after Barry because Hartley figured out who he was ages ago, and he's obviously going to mess this up.
Working together once does not mean they're not all going to carry on with the ruin the Flash's Christmas by causing as many problems as they possibly can for him in a few months though. They already had to delay it because this other speedster went and hurt their enemy
(If anyone sees them helping stop Zoom's forces at the end of the series, that's only because they can't rob any banks if all the banks get destroyed. It's definitely not because they got attached to the Flash and he's their guy to fight, who does this other speedster think he is?)
Hartley's very happy with his new weird little family. They're planning on stealing from his parents next.
As for Eddie gets powers, I have less right now, but:
The windows shatter, the power goes out, and there's this huge bang from upstairs and before he's even thinking Eddie's sprinting to the lab.
He finds Barry unconscious lying on a set of shelves and immediately goes to start chest compressions. Only there's this residual charge left in Barry and Eddie's last thought as he's thrown back away from Barry's body is you're not meant to touch someone who's been electrocuted.
It would be suspicious to only take one of C.C.P.D.'s comatose employees into his care, so Eobard is forced to also bring his ancestor to S.T.A.R. Labs. He's very, very grumpy about this.
He's even more grumpy when Eddie wakes up about two weeks after Barry and also appears to be a speedster, but he had to inherit it from somewhere.
Eddie puts his foot down and the Pipeline doesn't happen. He's more hesitant about the superheroics too, technically it means being a vigilante which is illegal, but ultimately Eddie wants to help people, so he does put on a costume just to help Barry with the fires and things like that. He'll leave the dealing with criminals in costume to Barry, unless he really needs help, Eddie sticks to doing that part the normal way as his day job
Thank you!

JUYEON :: GAME CATERERS x SVT | 02
Tumblr media
[editors captions] | speaking warning: food mentions for context, during the filming of game caterers she was blonde. she dyed her hair again soon after.
Tumblr media
ep 2-1
jinny's first part is in like the first few seconds lmao
she was wandering around with hoshi & vernon
she was third in the shop line behind hoshi
for her task, jinny had to name a foreign candy brand
[ (Foodie gets a question right up her alley ) ]
she named the first american one she could think of and took the earth arcade plushie [we'll pretend dk took something else..]
[ (Can you spot the difference between her and Torong?) ]
you can see her sitting with woozi & watching jun eat the lemons !!
then after she goes around and lays in the grass with hoshi & shua with her prize
[ Jinny joins them with Torong ]
she doesn't go again after getting her prize but she does sit and watch
jinny didn't talk much soo there wasn't that much of her here
when myungho did the relay & went to the back, the camera zoomed into her telling him you're so cute, gēgē~
[ (Winner compliments another winner) ]
jinny : [when seungkwan said wwksb to dino] seungkwannie.. stop being open minded..
jinny can be seen sitting with the others a couple of times but for the most part she just sits there quietly talking to the members
there was a cut of her talking about torong to a staff member saying how cute it was and how happy she was to get it
the staff was looking at her so fondly..
everyone loves jinny :sob:
her last scenes were her walking into the break room, sitting with jeonghan, and laying her head on his shoulder

she made everyone laughksejrjhuih
[ (These three are notorious for teaming up against one another) ]
[ (Today they're working together) ]
for the flaws hoshi & seungkwan agreed on the fact that jinny argues too much on shows LMAO [playfully..]
jinny : a flaw? hm. for seungkwan-oppa, he's too picky.. and for hoshi-oppa, he's, like, obsessed with tigers..
she can be seen a few times talking with seungkwan & hoshi and yells the slogan with them
jinny smiled so big when pd said it was a music quiz
[ K-pop professors at MIT ]
jun / woozi : that's what seungkwan and jinny are good at

[ (JINNY) (Composed most of SEVENTEEN's songs) ]
[ ('CLAP' composed by JINNY) ]
[ They didn't recognize their own child? ]
please jinny just banged her head on the table in disappointment
giving jinsoul hitting her head..
hoshi / seungkwan : ..??? are you okay ???
[ (Disappointed in herself) ]
jinny : ["jinny, what happened?"] i..have no words. you cheated me. [eng]
shua and vernon were giggling.
jinny : ["but someone still got it"] still!
5th song!! you already KNOW jinny jumped up from her seat
the three of them are still splitting the songs into three syllables sobbing
[ ('Hype Boy' produced by JINNY) ]
[ (I'll dance over here then) ]
she was still close to the table and they went to the far right side...
[ (Let's play together) ]
jinny : i love this song. newjeans, i love you. [eng]
[ (A message for the bunnies) ]
jinny : seungkwannie, you just embarrassed yourself in front of the camera..
jinny : don't cut that out please!
[ (Don't worry Jinny, we won't) ]
the amount of force jinny hit hoshi with at txt istg.
she was sitting not paying attention and then all she hears is "run for you"...
the second time around she was the one who said run away
cause she didn't trust hoshi LMAO
[ (Jinny, who's brother is a TXT member) ]
[ (Disappointed in her teammate, but still dances with charm) ]
that was her last scene bcz she took a bathroom break and then got carried away while getting a snack.. yes she confirmed it herself..

Honestly they went out of the way to present Henry as someone who is incredibly sweet and well-adjusted to the point where I thought that he was maybe a bit too placid. An angelic little man, not one tantrum at all. I thought that maybe it will be a plot point! Maybe Henry is going to ask Ted to come back, because that is a powerful ending (especially if we are shown that Ted kept his connections with Richmond and hopes to come back someday, but right now Henry needs him). That WOULD be a sacrifice.
But in the final he didn’t sacrifice anything, because nobody asked him to come back. Like nobody. Michelle was not calling him saying “Ted, we need you here, Henry is in trouble”. Henry clearly loved Richmond and was not distressed about going back home (unlike Ted, who was distressed when Henry had to go home). Oh his mom told him to? No, his mom hurt him in retaliation for the fuck yous. Also at no point before was there a discussion about how close Henry and his granny are together. She did not seem to be close to them, it was more like she wasn’t and was lonely, but didn’t know how to approach Ted without the passive aggression.
Like!!! Sacrificing everything when you were not asked to do anything is a road to hell, where you suffer and also make other people suffer. “Look, I did this all for you” is bad parenting.
That's a good distinction, anon. Sacrificing, on a literal definition level, is to give something up for something else... but Ted did not make that choice on Henry's behalf. That was not a request Henry made of him and, if he had, that would have changed the ending IMMENSELY for me. It would have shown that he's struggling despite everything else we've seen arguing otherwise. It would have given Henry agency in a decision that was, supposedly, all about him. It would have reframed this choice as something undoubtedly beneficial for both him and Ted, even though it would still require Ted to make the sacrifice itself. An ending where Henry says, "Dad, please come home" and Ted leaves knowing he has the power to make Henry happy in a way he's explicitly requested, balanced out by a montage where they're both visiting London -- because seriously, if the kid can pop over frequently why can't the rich adult with actual ties there?? -- to show that Ted has found a balance that works for them both, even if it's not perfect... that's just a whole different conclusion from what we got.
Because yeah, Henry is kinda perfect. The point where, many a time, he felt more plot device than character to me and that severely undermines the base argument of "Henry needs his father in the U.S. clearly ANY child would be depressed and lashing out and crumbling without that in-person support." Henry is none of those things. He's sweet and well-adjusted and when he makes a big mistake (like the bullying) he immediately makes amends in a creative way without prompting, as a way to show how much of an influence Ted has had on him. He repeats his father's wisdom and holds no grudges (he doesn't care that the soccer game is West Ham) and when he's sad it's because of the reasons already given the green light by the story itself -- Ted is obsessing over Michelle moving on -- rather than his own conflicts: maybe bouncing between parents in different countries is hard. Henry is so happy and nice and well-adjusted that the fandom has had to reeeeeeaally stretch his minuscule flaws in an effort to justify the "Ted needs him" angle. "Look, he's failing science! Clearly Ted being away is weighing on him!" Right, because no kid in the history of ever has failed a class while both parents are living within driving distance...
Honestly, I've been on team "Henry seems fine with this arrangement?" ever since the Christmas episode where he ditches Ted over Zoom to go play with his new toys. It's not that this is abnormal; the normality of this interaction is precisely the point. Henry feels parented enough through whatever Ted has been doing across the pond that, like most kids, he's more interested in presents than holding tight to what might otherwise be a rare moment with his father. Ted is the one who stares sadly at the blank screen. As you say, Ted is the one struggling when Henry goes back, whereas Henry happily skips off, only looking back for a generic goodbye wave. Now add in Ted admitting to his mom that his fear is coming to terms with the fact that Henry will leave, not that he's done him damage by moving to London. Ted is the one who has consistently been shown needing his son, not the other way around (because Henry has Ted), but crucially it's been portrayed in a way that invites critical reflection. Will spending more time with Henry actually fix this? Or, far more likely, is this a result of Ted's anxiety, something he needs to address with a therapist, not bury it by moving back and telling himself, "I'm with Henry 24/7 now so clearly things are perfect :)"
There's simply no optimistic future in this ending for me unless we imagine a deliberate 180: Henry tells Ted he's fine if he works in London, the Richmond fam stage an intervention, etc. Because yeah, this comes across as bad for Ted and bad for Henry. He's finally back with his son? Great! Outside of a generic expectation for what makes a good father, based in traditional America values, that means incredibly little when Henry hasn't been shown to struggle with long-distance parenting. But a Ted who gives up all that without being asked? Who -- if he were anyone else other than near endlessly kind and forgiving -- might grow to resent this situation? Who isn't masking with happiness or genuinely happy, but is instead pushing people away, acting vacant, trying to smile and barely succeeding? Henry's going to have a hell of a time thriving with Ted struggling to this extent, crucially in a way he's no longer in a position to address: no more support system, he's already done his Grand Gesture of Change (London), and things are supposed to be perfect now that he's back with his son. So why would he ever need to fix anything? What even is there to fix? Henry is all he needs. Henry is all he ever needed. He realized that while being away, right? That was the problem, right? Because if not... what does that mean? What does that say about him? How can he possibly need more than his precious son, especially when his biggest fear is losing him?
That's a HELL of a question Ted needs to work though and... can't. Following the finale's course he feels trapped now and I haaaate it 🙃

Aaron T - Hi, I'm Aaron T and I'm Your Freestyle Dance Teacher
When you'd heard about the school play you weren't all that bothered
It's cool that the arts department have the budget but you weren't too fussed either way
Until, of course, you were dragged into it
One of your friends really wanted to do the play but refused to audition without someone there with her
You didn't want to audition
The compromise was that you joined the stage crew instead
So here you are
Living your best life, truly
You're hoping if you repeat it enough you'll end up believing it
As a stage hand your main responsibilities are operating the moving scenery and rigging the fly system.
When you aren't doing either you start hovering, waiting for someone to give you a job
In the months of rehearsals and tech runs you'd come to realise that these theatre kids aren't the worst to be around
When they aren't obnoxiously screaming Les Mis or Be More Chill at the top of their lungs out of nowhere that is
But everyone has their flaws, you can't exactly blame them for theirs
In fact, you get along well with most of the cast - you'd expected them to be less respectful towards you but you were pleasantly surprised
Your responsibilities as a stagehand consequently mean you spend a lot of time with the people you rig up to the fly system
Including one Mr. Aaron T
Who you had not been expecting to see once tech rehearsals started but oh well, you're not exactly complaining
His entrance into another part of your life caught you off guard, in more ways than one
You see when you first saw him in rehearsals he was doing aerials, flips and handsprings like there was no tomorrow
You'd honestly been anticipating that there wouldn't be a tomorrow for him if he kept up those tricks
Luckily you've come to realise by now that he's basically a professional
A professional at giving you heart attacks
And so you're not too concerned anymore
Lies !! You still tense up whenever you see him do a trick
T finally noticed your existence when he came to you to get rigged up
Because of course he would be the one zooming around in the air doing cartwheels and somersaults
And his reaction to seeing you ??
Most of the cast and crew would argue it was more dramatic than most of the scenes in the actual show
You were just preparing the rigging system for when T arrived and out of nowhere you just hear someone yelling your name
You turn around, mildly concerned and majorly surprised, and find T standing there with the biggest grin you've ever seen
Mans literally runs over to you, flitting around you like an overexcited hummingbird as hyped up ramble spills from his mouth
Lord give you strength and all that because this ??
You did not sign up for this
And while you pretend to be annoyed by his antics you can't help but feel grateful for them too
T is a break in an otherwise stressful job
The director had been especially hard on you and the others working alongside you who operate the fly system
You understand why, obviously, but that doesn't make the pressure any easier to bear
Luckily not many people need to be rigged up to the fly system, 2 or 3 if everyone is present during rehearsals
Moving scenery, while used more than the fly system, is also not incredibly prominent so there's a lot of times that you're waiting around unless you're needed for a job
Time that you spend watching the cast performing and mimicking the dances with your fellow stagehands behind the wings on the opposite side of the stage
T makes sure to note this and comes to keep you company whenever he can
But he can't pretend he doesn't enjoy watching you dance and goof around when you can
While T is more versed in the acrobatic parts of the dances he is still fairly good at the parts the rest of the cast perform while he does his routine
Being one of few doing the acrobatics routines he first learned the parts of the dance that the rest of the cast learn so that if anything goes wrong he can default back to that
Given T has this knowledge he can't help but employ it when he spots you fumbling the moves for what must be the hundredth time
T decides to take matters into his own hands and speaks up the next time he notices you dancing alone
You very nearly jumped out of your skin when T started talking behind you as you attempted a step-ball-change in the small space you had in the wings
You whirled around, ready to start whisper-shouting at him for scaring the living daylights out of you, when he offered to teach you the real moves
Sorry what ??
No, no, no.
No because you only started doing this whole dancing thing to pass the time
It's just a stupid little thing really !!
It's not that you're secretly worried T's going to start making fun of you even though you know that logically he'd never do that
"Don't worry about it if not, I totally get it if you don't wanna! Just thought it'd be even more fun to teach you the moves so we can pretend we're on stage too, y'know?"
T's grin somehow gets impossibly wider as he hypes himself up and gets lost in a daydream of his
"Like, we'd close our eyes and pretend we're dancing on a cloud or, or we're performing to a huge audience or if that's not really your thing we could be like tiny little fairies dancing on mushrooms and flowers like in those Tinker Bell movies, have you seen those by the way I think they're actually pretty good!"
You feel like you're getting whiplash as you listen to his rant, trying your best to keep up
What T's saying makes sense though, underneath all of the waffle you understand what he means
...at least you think you do
So that's how your "dance lessons" (as T so lovingly calls them) begin
And surprise surprise you find yourself having a lot of fun doing them
Soon enough it's not just the moves you're learning but you're also figuring out more about T as well
You knew each other before this, you've sat next to each other, you've talked, he's borrowed your things, you've both embarrassed yourselves but now you feel like you're really growing close to each other
He's quickly becoming one of your favourite people, whispering silly little secrets in your ear, twirling you around
T laughs freely when you whisper sarcastic comments back as you twirl him in return
Soon the "dance lessons" become more just you two dancing in the wings
Slow dances full of twirls and spins, overly-dramatic box steps, random waltzing and accidentally stepping on each others toes peppered with healthy doses of laughter and whispers
(Omg this is the sappiest shit I've ever written,, my teeth are rotting help)
Obviously, T doesn't know the dances to every song and not every song has a dance anyway so when it comes to numbers that T doesn't participate in things get a bit more...chaotic
Like,, a lot more
I'm talking dramatic lip syncing, down on his knees during every emotional song
Mans is as over-the-top as possible hoping he can draw a laugh from you
And it works !!
So y'know, can't blame him for the dramatics tbh
Somewhere along the way T learns the words to most, if not all, of the songs
He definitely serenades you as you two dance
T savours any reaction he can bring out of you, but his favourite is making you laugh or smile
He swears that you glow brighter than the stage lights when you let yourself feel freely
T pulls you close and sings into your ear, his voice rich and smooth, a heavenly melody for only you to hear

i contemplate 9x22 from cas' perspective Every Day now it's dean's turn. like i've said that dean Did That because he wants to isolate cas but i do think it's more complicated than that, these days.
because like. okay. zooming out. it's conventional wisdom to say the mark is nothing, right? like, the mark fizzles, mark dean isn't really different from normal dean and the effect it has on the show is mostly to make it boring and as an excuse to critique things that are already true. yes? but that's looking back on it with the full picture. like, that's totally true of s10. but s9 is way more interesting because in s9 mark of cain dean does genuinely seem to be... not himself. and the way the mark is treated is also more interesting. in s10, it's just like, an affliction, we're not interested in where it comes from or the specific way it got there. in s9, dean makes the choice to take on the mark. like, the thing about season nine is that it's like. a really bad time in dean's life. like the gadreel thing is like. @themauvesoul has said this somewhere but gadreel is the perfect deantransgression because it's really awful but also totally understandable. like dean should not have done it it's really horrendous but what the hell else was he gonna do, let sam die? like maybe he should have but he never could have. and so dean is in this hole, right? he knows what he did was bad. and so he just digs himself deeper. he gaslights sam because he can't face the consequences, and he wrecks his other relationships on purpose because he is so completely convinced that he's poison. he can't reckon with what he's done so he self-destructs. and taking the mark is part of that. and like, it's a classic dean self-centered self-destruction move, right? it doesn't matter who he hurts as long as he's hurting himself more. and that's what's happening with the mark in s9. like, at the end of 9x22 he attacks gadreel like a rabid animal in a way that makes very little sense, finally confirming that he's not himself. the deantransgression in s9 isn't what he does under the influence of the mark, it's taking the mark in the first place and allowing himself to fall under its influence. which is a lot more interesting than what happens in s10 which is both milquetoast ("here's some bad things dean did. pay no attention to the fact that he already does stuff like that all the time and it's considered fine") and stupidly non-culpable ("he did the bad stuff for magic reasons that aren't his fault"). like, the s9 mark stuff is way more interesting in terms of an exploration of dean's character flaws than what it becomes in s10.
anyway all that to say i genuinely do not think dean was himself in 9x22, like, i think we can give him a "diminished capacity/under supernatural influence" pass. because what's interesting is what he learns from 9x22.
okay so season nine is when dean learns that cas will accept you know. pretty much any treatment from him. like in general i tend to see dean kicking cas out of the bunker with nothing as wildly ooc, but it also can't be totally discounted because of it's impact not just on cas' characterization but on dean's. like because it was so out of character, it's one of the few bad things dean has done to cas that he fully sees as like. horrendous. and cas is just like. oh you like me again! thank you for accepting me back into you life! i love you dean. like dean is crushed by guilt and cas is just fine with it. so this brings dean to a new understanding of cas. like, cas will accept anything that dean does to him. which is horrific, but it's also soothing. because if dean is poison, if he is simply doomed to harm everyone around him (which is certainly what s9 dean believes), then isn't it nice to know that he can't drive cas away? like, yes, horribly guilt inducing. but also comforting.
and he doesn't think about that. because it's too horrible. but then later when he's under the influence of the mark. well. he doesn't feel so much guilt. he doesn't feel so much love, either. he becomes cruel and sadistic. he sees cas as a fun chew toy, and as pathetic for what he would let dean do to him. and he takes the horrible conclusion that dean has already come to and says: well, if he comes back every time i kick him, how hard can i kick him and have that still be true. that's maybe the biggest reason dean is acting like that in 9x22.
(there's another big reasons which is: it's a punishment, not for cas, but for sam. 9x22 starts off with sam trying to assert himself in their relationship a little, and this pisses mark!dean off. so mark!dean inflicts a double layered punishment on sam: first, on the obvious level, he is really nasty to cas in front of sam as a way of saying look at all these nasty mean things i can do and you can't stop me. but much more crucially it's about. well. mark!dean is extremely aware of the difference between sam and cas. he can kick cas as much as he want and cas will react by crawling back to him and trying to appease him more. sam won't, sam will object. and so dean at the end of the episode plays them against each other: he chastises sam, and then goes off to get all sweet with cas in front of sam. this is partly for cas' benefit, as a means of re-securing their relationship, but it's also a message to sam: look at what i just did to cas, and he's still good. he's still obedient. look at the rewards he reaps. you're in the doghouse, cas is the favorite now, because you keep being a little bitch about stuff. it's a demonstration of how dean thinks sam should act. he's rewarding cas for his behavior in front of sam to show sam that cas is the favorite now, and also that sam could have rewards too if only he let dean walk all over him.)
but anyway re: how cas will always come back: dean was tormenting cas in 9x22 for fun, because of the mark, and part of that was testing him. he was experimenting for intellectual amusement: how bad, and how obviously maliciously, can i hurt cas and he'll still come back. and what dean finds out is that there's practically no limit to it.
and like, well.
okay. after he loses the mark, well. here's the thing.
i'm sure dean feels really, really guilty about having performed that test. like, really, really guilty. he doesn't want cas' life wrecked, even if he isn't a fan of the other angels and stuff.
but like.
he can't unknow the results.
dean will always be aware after that of just how far he can push cas, how much the elastic stretches. he'll know, even if he doesn't want to, even if he feels bad about it. he'll know that whatever he does to cas, cas will always come back.
...which is why the divorce arc happens.

Umineko EP2. Replay Part 2
Huh, thought Jessica was the one initiating the relationship and not Shannon, guess I had details mixed up.
Tumblr media
She's pushy too!
Tumblr media
Though I guess Jessica had unknowingly made the first move....
Tumblr media
Didn't even give Jessica room to back down either! I had the impression Jessica kind of forced this relationship into existence but I guess Yasu had at least some feelings for Jessica.
Tumblr media
I think the outfits a little goofy but I think it fits Kanon anyways
Tumblr media
Yasu can probably relate a lot to compartmentalizing your identity like this and I imagine this is probably when he started having more of an interest in Jessica as someone with a lot of sides to her personality
Tumblr media
Oh Jessica you have no idea who you are talking to. Also, I think while this scene shows that Jessica cares about Kanon and wants him to live a better life, she also isn't making a real effort to understand him and just assumes all her prior assumptions are correct, until she finally gets told off halfway through the conversation.
Tumblr media
They reveal more than they meant to here, I think, it's honestly heartbreaking to read a bit... it might be leftover bias from me being a Jessica Kanon shipper when I first read the vn but I feel if this conversation went slightly different maybe Yasu could get some of the help they needed from Jessica.
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
Woah forgot about the Battler Yasu mention... combined with the mention about Battler saying the horse line to Shannon later on these are some pretty strong hints, though I guess narration is leading you to believe they are talking about Kinzo Beatrice
Tumblr media
If you figured that out you would have solved Umineko!
Tumblr media
Huh, i think this cg background is from Miotsukushi....
Tumblr media
Yeah, but they are in different levels of zoom in.... I don't know why I bothered to check.
Tumblr media
Sigh, I am really trying to not dislike you.
Tumblr media
Funny how the narration pretty obviously from Rosa's perspective, initially gives this story about Rosa just pampering her daughter too hard because Rosa's oh-so-nice she went overboard, and then by the end it's talking about how Rosa hits Maria "impulsively".... how is Maria not supposed to develop unhealthy coping mechanisms of compartmentalizing her mother when her mother does the same to herself!
Tumblr media
Nice one Rosa.... that's such a cruel thing to say, Rosa and Maria sections have always been some of the hardest scenes in the game to read for me.
Tumblr media
The way her child is both her punching bag and her emotional support is both so extremely fucked up and incredibly realistic to how children of abusers are treated.
Tumblr media
Krauss and Eva having a meeting about whether they are able to hide Krauss's death again (no)
Tumblr media
It is kind of interesting to me that Rudolf seems more aware of his flaws than most of the cast... but doesn't seem to care too much about changing his behavior anyway.
Tumblr media
This episode seems to immediately try to get to see you Maria in a different way to EP1 - her condescending magical genius persona didn't start until after the killings, here it's shown in a much more benign way, just a kid rambling about Halloween.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Imagine if Rosa instead of feeling ashamed Maria can remember so much trivia and tried to foster it into having her pick up history or something, like serriously it's impressive she can know so much about a certain subject! It's certainly more interesting and useful than my childhood hyperfixation being random Mario facts lol.
Tumblr media
Kyrie's actually a pretty good mother to Ange all things considered, at least up to the point of what Ange saw, which maybe does tip me off a little to the "She said that stuff to Eva so that Eva would take care of Ange" theory.... I don't think she would manage to fake that so consistently otherwise.
Tumblr media
To Yasu, who never really had parental figures, and probably idolized parents at some point I imagine their best friend having such a bad parent must hurt them really hard in a lot of ways.
Tumblr media
And then Beatricce, coincidentally, does the same thing Kanon wanted to do but couldn't.
Tumblr media
That's a really roundabout way to say you want to hang out, Maria.
Tumblr media
Ouch, tough a couple lines later the illusion of a nice Kyrie gets blown away from me, though sympathetically I can interpret that line as Kyrie trying to get Risa to be nicer by speaking her language.
Tumblr media
This scene's pretty easy to figure out, the one who knew about the crushed candy was Kanon and the fact Rosa can see Beatrice means she's an accomplice, and of course, Beatrice just made Maria close her eyes and switched the candy, and Rosa seeing it means she's going along with the story
Tumblr media
She reveals she chooses her accomplices by convenience during this scene too.
Tumblr media
it's pretty hard to not read Genji and Kinzo's relationship as romantic from Genji's side, though, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't even admit that to himself.
Tumblr media
I wonder if we should take this scene Kyrie happening to wander into Shkannon dressed as Beatrice, that would explain why she massacred all the siblings but Rosa in this episode, but also I don't think Yasu has any need to physically dress up as Beatrice at this moment... though I could see them doing it for funsies anyways.
Or alternatively, Kyrie could have been recruited as an accomplice earlier, and the reason she goads Rosa outside the parlor earlier was to set up the Rosa Beatrice meeting, and it would explain why Rosa's so on edge since she saw another accomplice getting slaughtered, but there's no real proof of that, I just think her getting Rosa to go outside is a little weird... It's not like she was a big issue at the conference, though I guess maybe Kyrie just saw her as the weak link in the anti-Krauss faction and felt like removing her from the beginning negotiations.

I read your Charles smith/Arthur Morgan fic and i thought the Cooper family was REALLY a quality touch to the narrative. It kinda inspired me actually. So thank you.
I have a sneaking suspicion I know this asker IRL and he is giving me a sneaky compliment, BUT I will take it. I am going to be better about taking compliments!
I've been thinking about OCs in fanfic bc I get a lot of positive feedback about mine, and generally people aren't jazzed about OCs so one or two people have asked me how I go about it. Here's some thoughts.
Readers get salty about OCs bc they're anticipating a mary sue self-insert. Mary Sue's are fine, we've all got some purple-eyed mysteriously alluring archers/sorcerers/rogues hiding in our closets, best not cast stones in that glass house of yours, etc etc. So calm down, fanfic is primarily about what we as writers get out of it and it sure as hell isn't monetary gain. Without writers, there is no fanfiction, so if people wanna lovingly write about their OCs, LET THEM. Writers owe you literally nothing. AND AND, also, i know my OCs aren't 100% believable and they have annoying Sueish elements. Caroline is a bit too cool and tragic. Anri is too funny and unflappable. But the thing is, it's FICTION. if you go too hard overcorrecting for what could be perceived as Sue, you're going to end up with characters with the personality of oatmeal. So do a little flexing, let your characters be dope as hell. Flaws make characters relatable, but it's also fun to read about people being funny and sexy and interesting while being relatable. Caroline is not as good as she thinks she is, she got herself in trouble, and she winds up with a quiet little schoolgirl crush on Charles. Anri is TOO hard around the edges - she comes down on other people so she doesn't have to look too hard at herself. They're fuckups, but they're allowed to be fun too. You are allowed to like your OCs.
I usually approach OCs from a narrative need. "I need this to happen and I don't know/there isn't a canon character that will fill this need." So for ask, but gently, the thought process went like this:
There needs to be another hurdle to make the story come together. The hurdle should be Micah catching up with them. How does Micah catch up with them?
Arthur needs to get the fuck over himself and 'forgive' Charles. He needs to be reminded of Charles selflessness
The hurdle should tie into their identities, maybe racism, homophobia, etc
3. So I basically flipped all those concepts around in my head until i came up with a missing, mixed race girl and her family. Boom. Hits all the marks. Micah gets extra villain points for not only being a thorn in Charles and Arthur's sides, but also threatens this family. Boom boom boom
4. So now we have what the OC is going to be. You can just use them like that, little bricks to build the story, and that's fine. But i think it's more helpful to then zoom out from what I need from them for plot and think about them as characters. Aside from getting tangled up in my story, what are they like, what do they love/hate, how do they gel with the world. It's not all vital, but it makes writing them interacting in the plot easier and more natural.
So, TL;DR:
Identify a narrative need
Come up with a character in a situation that fills that narrative need
Forget about the purpose they're going to solve in the plot and focus on what put them there, who they are, what makes them a full human outside the bounds of your story

I feel like rian johnson writes women like he is so so worried about being cancelled for misogyny so every lady (who doesn’t fall into a misogynistic trope) comes across as having like. Divine insight to impart on men she knows.
Like how so many black characters in mainstream movies especially in the 80s and 90s and later on gay characters exist as just hyper competent borderline magical support systems for their white/straight Main Character friend
Idk maybe that’s not quite it but I think he’s afraid of women
i don't think i've seen enough of his stuff to really have an informed take on this - i've only seen knives out and glass onion. but based on what i have seen, i would push back slightly. in those two films, the female protagonists felt very hollow and overly virtuous and moral, but i didn't feel like they were especially wise. in glass onion, helen's attitude happened to be against the rich people, but she was driven by emotion (anger, grief, desire for revenge), rather than intellect. but the (mostly white) women surrounding her were as flawed as the men -- some in particularly gendered ways, such as birdie, a classic dumb blonde archetype. claire and peg had no real personalities to speak of, and while whiskey had the slightest hint of a hidden depth, her insight was limited to the emotional/social dynamics of what was going on within her own relationship. depicting women as particularly intelligent or wise would be a bit more subversive than what he's actually doing, which is depicting these two protagonists as highly emotional underdogs driven by affection for their loved ones. it's quite a stereotypical and mainstream characterization of women, really.
also, i think if you're going to analyze what the protagonists of these two films represent as women, you have to include the context that they are also women of color, and basically the only significant women of color in these two films. there is a running thread in those two movies where it seems like johnson is consciously making the most innocent characters women of color. and i understand why, because there's something true about his depiction of these characters as outsiders in the spaces they're in who aren't trusted by the people around them. that dynamic in the films is key to his pretty liberal critique of racism. in knives out, he clearly establishes marta as subject to racism; by making the rich people surrounding marta highly suspicious of her but also establishing that marta hasn't done anything wrong, he positions his film in opposition to that overt racism and misogyny. buuut if you zoom out, there's another, more liberal school of misogyny and racism he hems to by not giving his women of color any humanity at all. it suggests that giving marta or helen any flaws, even little ones, would complicate the black-and-white morality because they can't be even a little bit flawed and still be liked. the morality system in these films is really thin.
that said, while i think there was a missed opportunity to make the protagonists more roundly defined, i don't agree with the comparison to 80s/90s Black characters. for one thing, these women are the protagonists of their films, not glorified extras shoved into the background. they take meaningful action, and they have motivations - they're just weak and predictable. and i also think the writing of the supporting characters in glass onion is equally bad? in glass onion, helen dominated the story, but the other characters are also extremely one-note. just like johnson doesn't seem to trust that his audience would recognize helen as the hero if she had any flaws, he also makes the background characters incredibly obviously loathsome. it suggests that he thinks giving them an ounce of redeemable characterization would topple the entire thing. one-note villains can work in satire, but it works less well when every character is equally flat.
basically i just think he's a shitty writer, and his weaknesses are more plain when you look at the characters who have the most screentime - who happen to be women of color. they are shallowly written and lazily support the blandly liberal messaging he's going for, but i don't think fear of women is really the motivating factor. it's more like he had a gem of a good idea (about who is and isn't trusted in highly judgmental wealthy spaces) that was then burdened by limited writing ability to pull it off. sad!
