SUMMARY: A cold-hearted Demon remembers what it’s like to be human after falling in love with the one who stole his powers.

THIS SHOW HAS EVERYTHING: Supportive PR employees, diabolical chaebols, powerful skinship, sham marriages, best friend butlers, sword dancing, Joseon flashbacks, tattoos, cropped suit jackets, cakes, clocks, disguised deities, full moon transformations, and the joy of just letting go and listening to your heart.

HOT TAKE: I didn't really love the start of this show, but its themes of loss and love really pulled on my heartstrings throughout. I didn't really love the ending either, but hey, its a love story and you get what you get. I will say though, Song Kang and Kim Yoo Jung win the award for 'Couple with the Smoothest Skin I've Ever Seen in a Kdrama.'

Queen of Tears

This series is not perfect, but it is still good. It has a solid storyline, and great characters. Hong Hae In and Baek Hyun Woo have been married for 3 years and the love that had united them at the beginning seems to have disappeared in their distance and silence after a miscarriage that broke their hearts. When Baek Hyun Woo finally has the courage to present the divorce papers to Hong Hae In, she tells him she has a tumor and doesn't have much time left. His decision to stay with her gives them an unexpected chance at finding that love that had united them once. Family interactions between their very different families questions dynamics and help characters grow.

I like the fact that they didn't take the easy way out with our main antagonist. The story in itself is really good and I loved it, however, production was a bit careless with details that were too big to miss: Hae In's operation - how can a person with a brain tumor have a surgery with her hair intact. Or Hyun Woo's neck injury suddenly disappearing in a second, ext. These kind of details show some careless oversight. But we can forgive them - we laugh it off and keep watching to see what happens next.

I liked it and recommend it.

Mini-review:

Look, I'm not gonna lie. I started this drama for a very superficial reason: Kim Yoo Jung and Song Kang are one of the most gorgeous couples I've ever seen. And tbh, that's one of the things that kept me watching until the end. The first half was pretty fun, thanks to their will-they-won't-they dynamic and some really funny supporting characters and recurring gags. Unfortunately, it began to drag around the middle part, and then it got more and more boring with each passing episode. By the time the final episode came out, I no longer cared about the plot, the characters or anything else (although the ending itself was quite nice). With all that in mind, I can't help but think My Demon would have worked much better as a movie.

SUMMARY: Man and woman love each other. Man hates woman. Woman gets brain tumor. Man and woman stumble over each other and realize they were basically put on this Earth to love each other.

THIS SHOW HAS EVERYTHING: Stunning monochromatic outfits, swanky cars, expensive jewelry, boxing studios, panic rooms, miscommunication, longing stares, ugly-sobbing, hair salon gossip, pears vs apples, architectural marvels, hidden feelings, breaking free, trusting your gut, and two-faced confidants.

HOT TAKE: I think I was sobbing for at least 20% of every episode which made this show extremely difficult to look forward to. This show has the greenest of green flags in Kim Soo Hyun, the reddest of red flags in Park Sung Hoon, and Kim Ji Won doing what she does best--giving a masterclass in expressing an encyclopedia of emotions with only her eyes.
