We Rent Tsukumogami Summer 2018 - 12 Episodes I decided to try out the crunchyroll randomize feature and came across this. In the end it took me quite a while to complete it. The style is super cute and I like shows that are based around spirits and stuff but I found that I just wasn’t invested in the stories for each episode or the characters. Despite that I could see a lot of people enjoying this if they’re into short slice of life stories. In the end, just wasn’t for me, but wasn’t bad either. 5/10 - Average

Anyway, here’s some more entertaining animes I’ve watched recently with short explanations and commentary by yours truly.

Tanaka-kun is Always Listless

Tanaka-kun has one aspiration in life: to have an uneventful day. His friend, Ohta-kun, is his biggest helper on his path to achieve the highest level of laziness. Unfortunately other people around Tanaka-kun seem to disagree and keep dragging him into their shenanigans. Will his uneventful day ever come?

A con man (though not by choice) Makoto Edamura, meets another con man called Laurent Thierry on the streets of Japan and through a series of (unfortunate) events ends up travelling around the world with him and his associates while trying to choose if he wants to pursue honest work or stay on the path of crime.

Fantastic use of colours and nice animation

Engaging story and great, likable characters

Over all, a good time

Two siblings run a lending shop in Edo (modern day Tokyo), Japan during the Edo period. Their shop specializes in tsukumogami, objects that can come to life. With their help, the two siblings help their customers solve problems they might have.

Took couple of episodes for me to get into. Once I did, I quite enjoyed it.

Seven boys get scouted and end up forming a 7 member boyband called IDOLiSH7. Somewhere on the way they make rivals with another band called Trigger. The road to stardom is rocky and requires a lot of work. Will they overcome the struggles and come out on top?

Gave this another chance and ended up really liking it!

Funny but also filled with drama. Oh gosh, there’s so much drama.

Anime of the day: Tsukumogami Kashimasu

Alt Title: We Rent Tsukumogami

Released: 2018

This anime is about tsukumogami. Tsukumogami are objects that develop souls. During the edo period it is common to borrow objects from a rental shop. Mixed in with the regular objects are a few special ones, and the owners know they are special. When needed the owners lend out these special tsukumogami objects to help people. This was a really fun anime. I love the concept that objects develop souls. I also enjoyed how each episode is different and faces a different problem. It can seem a bit formulaic; however, it was a nice break from the big seemingly never ending anime. The opening is "Get Into My Heart" by Miyavi and Shishido Kafuka and the ending is “今宵は夢を見させて" by Mai Kuraki. The opening is far superior and I remember it right away. Overall this anime was enjoyable and simple.
