He didn't understand why his gf preferred doing their groceries at night, but he didn't dare protest. She's had him wrapped around her fingers and would oblige to any and all of her requests.

Vernon announced he was going to grab ice cream from the freezer section but she was too busy trying to figure out which eggs were produced by properly raised chickens. Was it pasture raised or free range?

When he returned to where he last left her, she and their cart was gone. His eyes wide as he realized he shouldn't have wandered off.

"Babe?" He popped his head into the next aisle.

Nothing.

"Baby?" His voice a little louder, his tone dripping in panic.

"Ba— Oh my god there you are!" Vernon sighed, placing the mochi ice cream into the cart. "I got scared."

"In Trader Joes?" She raised her brows.

It was a small store. In fact she heard him call out for her the first time, laughing to herself as she picked out this week's produce.

"I thought you left." He shrugged.

"You have the car keys."

"Riiight...."
