Didn't expect Lt. Reginald Barclay to make me cry in Pathfinder...
... I mean that scene when they finally contacted Voyager? Could barely see it through the tears.

Wednesday 100: An Interest in Irish Culture
(AU J/P drabble for the @100wednesday challenge.)
The Michael Sullivan rumors are funnier to Tom than they are to Kathryn, who worries about it undermining her command.
“It’s absurd,” she protests. “He’s a hologram.”
But Tom is nothing if not industrious, happy to capitalize on an absurdity. He expands Sullivan’s bar to include an upstairs suite, offers Kathryn a whisky and leads her by the hand up the rickety wooden staircase. She rewards him with a slow grin that’s full of promise, and he guesses she’ll let the rumors ride. Because Holodeck 1 is just about the least suspicious place either of them could be, these days.

we finally found the time to catch up on picard and binged 4 episodes, which was honestly a treat. I don't think I've ever binged star trek before bc the older episodes were always so long and quite packed. with this show it works very well, bc it's really getting thrilling, which is why I don't understand why cbs chose to only give us one episode at a time. anyway, up to this point I can say about this season: some things are very convenient, but the nostalgia makes it all worth it.
I mean I loved the historic starship scene. in real trekkie-mode, I blurted out all the names and information I could think of. also the most beautiful ship of all was there. voyager <3 and when seven talked about her time on the ship, how she was reborn there and how the crew was her family and then the faint voyager score, all made me feel so warm. like it feels so real to me - this really was my teenage years. and it gave me a glimpse of how I would feel if they had made this show about the voyager instead of tng crew. I still found the actual tng flashback scene in this one adorable and heartwarming.

ethical subroutines be damned, if someone erases your morals, it doesn't make you stop caring about the people you love
why would deleting the doctor's ethics make him be ok with following the orders of an enemy to irreversibly damage seven (his closest friend)???? like this better be him pretending or I'm gonna be mad at the writers for once again treating emh like he's not an actual person

In “Man of the People” the Computer mentions there’s an ensign Janeway on board the Enterprise and I find that hilarious 🤣

One thing I truly appreciate about Voyager is just how long it takes them to contact Starfleet. They aren't even able to inform them they are alive until season 4, and it takes them until well into season 6 to actually be able to talk to them. I truly truly appreciate the commitment.
Like, it would have been easy enough to invent any excuse and have Voyager establish contact with Earth after the first season. But no, the crew is truly stranded in every sense of the word. And that makes it even more special when they finally make contact.
