Überraschung

1.

Wenn die Zahnpasta aus der Tube gedrückt wird, dann fängt sie an zu merken, wie es in der Tube war. Eben noch normal bis gemütlich wirkt die gewohnte Position nun absurd. Wieso denn in einer Tube leben?

Wenn man einen Arbeitsvertrag unterzeichnet, fängt man an zu merken, was es mit dem Euphemismus "Freier Autor" auf sich hat. Die letzten 5 Jahre war ich freier Autor. Man lernt Suppe kochen und vieles anderes mehr, einiges davon ist schlichtes bäuchlein building. Ich habe angesetzt, unter anderem neu, etwa während einer Gastprofessur in Brasilien. Ein Euphemismus ist nicht schlecht, was er hübsch bekleidet ist nicht unbedingt Katastrophe. Aber Vilem Flusser nennt die Biographie über sein Leben in Brasilien passend Bodenlos. Nicht umsonst nennt sich Recife die Hauptstadt der Schiffbrüchigen. Luhmann blieb nur ein Wochenende, für den Schiffbruch mit den Gebrüdern Neves war er dann doch zu verbeamtet, das ist ja noch mehr als Festanstellung. Der Schiffbruch fiel aus und Luhmann fuhr nach Haus Die Geschichte ist in Recife legendärer als hier, dafür hat sie sich aber da ereignet. Man musste Bruch erleiden oder brüchig sein, um in Recife zwei Semester richtig mitmachen zu dürfen. Dann, so, war es phantastisch. Diese Freiheit kann aber dennoch prekär sein, das war sie auch teilweise, dann aber richtig prekär, nicht nur finanziell.

Jetzt bin ich sehr froh, ab dem ersten September dem Max-Planck-Institut für Rechtsgeschichte und Rechtstheorie meine Arbeitskraft zur Verfügung zu stellen.

MIRADA PROGRAMADA

Mirada Programada es una charla sobre cómo la fotografía ha sido usada como herramienta. A partir de la revisión de algunas de sus prácticas a través de la historia, veremos cómo han operado lógicas de liberación, a la vez que de opresión. En 1984, el filósofo y teórico de la imagen Vilem Flusser, presentó su libro Hacia una filosofía de la Fotografía. En él, habla de la fotografía como un "Programa" en el que las personas fotógrafas son sus "Funcionarias". Operamos la cámara bajo acciones determinadas y algunas veces, la menor de las veces logramos salir de los márgenes establecidos.

Juan Hoppe es un fotógrafo y periodista habitante de Valparaíso, Chile. Ha estudiado sobre filosofía de la imagen y antropología visual de manera autodidacta y en cursos de diversas instituciones.

[Vampire squid’s] reproductive system is somewhat unnerving. The female is larger than the male. Its single ovary is located in the secondary orifice, the "genital cecum" between the stomach and the mantle. The male has three penises, each with a different function. The penis proper is a flexible tube that contains spermatophores and penetrates into the female orifice. Once inside, its tip detaches and moves alongside the ovary, where it deposits spermatozoa and dies. This detachable tip regenerates after each act of coitus. The second, spoon-shaped penis moves between the teeth of the female's tongue, stimulating ovulation and the excretion of specific hormones. The third, thumb-shaped penis caresses the female abdomen during copulation. It’s physiological function is unclear, but outside of copulation it actively feels the environment. If only we could grasp the world with a penis.

[Walls] divide the world into two realms: the big outer one where history happens, and the small inner one where the concrete experience of life is centered. But they divide in a curious way: they create the private realm by dividing .... Through this curiously dividing character, the walls pose a typically human choice (typically human, because it allows for no decision): either to leave the walls in order to conquer the world outside, or to stay within the walls in order to find oneself. The walls show clearly: to conquer the world outside means to lose oneself, and to find oneself means to lose the world.

Artist Residency With The Royal Academy of Art Antwerp

"Music creates a cybernetic circularity as it nourishes the body with vibrations while awaking the mind. Music illuminates the inner darkness of our black boxes. When listening to music, we feel that the separation between man and world disappears; we transcend our skin and our skin transcends us” (1)

The philosopher Villem Flusser was one of the first to anticipate the advancement of the internet and networked culture dominated by the technical and electronic image. In the last chapter  of Into the Universe of Technical Images, Flusser describes his vision of chamber music as the paradigm  model for, "dialogic communication in general, and for telematic communication in particular”  

Clare Strand's residency with the Working Tools research group at The Royal Academy of Fine Arts builds on her engagement with the transmission and circulation of a photograph. Her recent work ‘

Discrete Channel with Noise, utilised a coded system of numbers 1- 10 as monochrome tonal values to transmit and duplicate an image from sender to receiver without the use of the internet. Strand has taken this photographic code and invited chamber musicians from the Royal Conservatoire to 'play a photograph’. Each musician individually interpreted the code, playing a notated sound for each number,  working autonomously but also as a group through gesture, intuition and feedback. Each time the photograph is performed new information is output. Without conductor and linearity, the musical sender and receivers operate in 'telematic dialogue', guided by a set of musical rules only to be built upon and replaced with new understandings and musical scores.

The second phase of this project is to develop a machine programmed to play any photograph incorporating the analogue sounds of the chamber music musicians.

Ostküste

Ostküste heißt: Die Sonne steht am Morgen über dem Meer, am Abend über dem Land. Ist die Küste mit den Architekturen bebaut, die Vilem Flusser in einem Anflug von Prager Snobismus als Mittelstandsslums bezeichnet hat, ist sie also mit den hohen, verkachelten Türmen bebaut, liegt der Strand und das Meer kurz nach Mittag schon im Schatten. Auch solange es noch hell ist wirkt die Zone dann lichtlos. Nur die Wärme wird herzlicher, denn sie strahlt jetzt nicht mehr direkt aus der Sonne. Jetzt sind es die Steine, die die Wärme zurückgeben. So, wie reflektiertes Licht, wie Mondlicht die Berge nachts größer erscheinen lässt, weil dieses Licht die Berge mangels Direktheit nicht niederdrückt, so ist diese reflektierte Wärme großherziger, sie ist angenehmer, sie sticht nicht und drängt nicht, sie ist nicht so einseitig und sie umfängt einen von allen Seiten, darum wirkt sie wohl so herzlich. Und doch ist der Nachmittag in den Zonen lichtlos, dazu noch Kacheln, überall Kacheln. Der Strand leert sich in diesen Zonen darum auch ab Mittag immer schnell.

Je aurora desto voran: Wer den Sonnenaufgang dem Sonnenuntergang vorzieht, für den ist Ostküste genau richtig. Sucht man am Meer Sonnenuntergangsromantik, dann sollte man besser zum Pazifik, weiter zur Westküste.
