Pipe smoking is about more than the nicotine addiction.

A pipe is a relationship with an intimate, warm friend wearing good cologne or perfume. It sits quietly with you, and you must pay attention, hold it, and tend to it; learn not to smoke too fast or slow so you don't burn out your pipe or allow the fire to die. It gives much the same comfort as a campfire or fireplace, a glass of good scotch or a woman who knows how to be with you quietly.

Cigarettes are about the nicotine high, and once lit, you never have to pay attention; they burn like a bad relationship.

That is why we really miss it. Only another pipe smoker would understand this.

Working on the theory that their grandmothers enjoyed their pipe and bowl, girls are forming a pipe smokers club and it is yet possible, following this line of thought, that the girls will soon be seen smoking cigars. Among the founders of the club, who met at Keens Chop House on West 44th Street to draft a constitution and bylaws, are Misses Irene Dunne, Irma Marwich, and Lane Blair of the "Sweetheart Time" Co.

Could "Irene Dunne" have been the actress? It's possible—she was appearing on Broadway at the time.

Just been curious about pipe smoking for a while since my cigar buddy swears to that too.

But much to learn, cuz is more and different work from cigars. I'm definitely a n00b here.
