What We Learned from the Spurs loss to the Nuggets

We’re all very lucky we get to watch this. Not even just as Spurs fans. I’m talking like, as basketball fans. As Sports fans. As Human beings. We’re getting to watch something great unfold right in front of our eyes. It’s like watching the Grand Canyon take shape in real time. It’s not the first time this kid has left me at a loss for words and I’m sure it won’t be the last.

Most of the conversation around Victor right now has, frankly, very little to do with him. It’s all about the supporting cast. The people that are there right now and the people that aren’t. The people who might be there in the future and the people that won’t be. I’m as guilty of it as anyone. I can’t stop thinking about how to build around him and what kind of pieces they need to get. okey so i need some tv recs for this hiatus 911 fan overall procedure fans i guess that's all the vibe i can think of to ask lol so hit me with your recs

EXCELLENT! So glad you’ve come to me Nonnie. I am honored. This is in no particular order but in terms of general procedurals with similar 911 vibes I’ve got a couple:

1. Sirens

It’s about a paramedic team in Chicago and it’s fucking hilarious. We're talking laugh out loud can still quote it from memory hilarious. There’s two seasons and each episode is about 25 minutes so it’s easy to get through. There is a British counterpart that is also funny but it’s definitely a different tone for sure.

2. ER

I always describe 911 to people as ER for first responders. Part of that is because it’s so episodic. It gets really melodramatic at times and there are a LOT of story lines but for the most part the general stakes keep to one episode at a time and the show gives you permission to let things go which is nice. I’m a fan of the earlier seasons as opposed to the later seasons but Angela Bassett is in the last season. Lots of great guest spots and very character driven.

**Characters do die in this show so be aware of MCD warnings. No one is safe in that show. Except maybe Noah Wylie but that's cus it's Noah Wylie.

3. Numb3rs

It’s an awesome crime procedural with a twist on it. The oldest brother, Don, is an FBI agent who has his baby brother, Charlie, help him solve crime using math. This show has all the tropes too. Brother relationship, found family, etc etc.

4. Psych

It’s a procedural with a much lighter tone. Shawn pretends to be psychic and solves crime. It’s chaotic and messy and wonderful and perfect.

**Gives me coming home from the pool and vegging on the couch summer vibes.

5. Castle

On the same side of the coin, it’s another procedural with a twist. Castle is a successful mystery novelist who helps solve crime. Nathan Fillion for those fans of The Rookie and there's a lot powerful female characters in it.

6. Murder, She Wrote

MSW walked so that Castle could run. This is an oldie but a good. Angela Lansbury is a mystery writer who solves crime. It’s super cool knowing that she insisted on hiring a lot of older guest stars so that they could continue to be in the union and get their benefits. Also omg the 80s/90s wardrobe. There's also a couple of episodes with other detectives and crime solvers when Angela started to get tired carrying the weight of quality television on her shoulders.

7. Drop Dead Diva

THIS is such a good law procedural. It has the added bonus as having the same casting director as 911 so you’ll see a lot of familiar faces. But Deb is a model who died and got reincarnated in the body of a plus size lawyer named Jane and it’s the most wonderful little nugget that just existed in its own space. It was SO ahead of it's time on certain issues and it deals with a variety of topics such as body shaming, slut shaming, mental health, etc in such a kind and compassionate and positive way.

8. Scorpion

A team of geniuses (with neurodivergent representation in action genre scenarios) who help solve crime and crisis situations for homeland security. Lots of found family feelings! SO MANY! Big time character driven show.

9. White Collar

A white collar criminal agrees to help solve crime with the FBI agent who arrested him. Neal is so whumpable and it's one of the few times I've seen a fandom really embrace the idea of a poly relationship in fanon? Idk I wasn't really in it but the fics I saw all seemed to agree that no one would complain if Peter, Neal, and Elizabeth all lived happily ever after with their golden retriever. NOW, I will say this is a Jeff Eastin show and he has a tendency to take the amazing female characters in the show, throw them in a blender, and then bring them back as Frankenstein's monster bride and act like he didn't just ruin their character and it drives me fucking insane. BUT those first couple of seasons are fantastic.

just out of curiosity what are your three most frequently eaten meals? mine are beans and rice, noodles veggies and sauce, and fake nuggets but i want to branch out

This is very dull but my most frequently eaten meal is my breakfast shake just because I have it most days. That’s usually just oats, chia seeds, banana, peanut butter, vanilla protein powder and water. It tastes good and is an easy and pretty cheap way to pack in a lot of protein and nutrients at the start of the day. I also have Huel for my work lunches most weekdays.

Aside from that, I eat a lot of tofu. I freeze it and defrost during the day so I don’t have to drain it, and use the air fryer so it’s very easy to prepare and serve with rice, noodles, veg etc. I usually make my own simple sauces to go on it or marinate it in. Dubu Jorim, salt and pepper tofu and a non-traditional version of Vietnamese tomato tofu are regular rotations.

Otherwise a lot of my meals are really basic, just a protein source like seitan, lentils, chickpeas or beans with some sort of grain and veg. I mostly just make different meals with the same basic ingredients, so these sorts of things can make soups, a curry, a noodle dish, chilli, stir fry etc. I seldom follow any recipes, I usually just throw in what I have with some spices.

Back to Binghe with The Hopeful Hybrid’s Househusbanding System, I was thinking about the different foods he’d get to try while in modern Japan, and which ones he’d be able to make himself when he gets back to Cang Qiong. And just... my heart tells me he’d be home for about five months before he cracks and makes himself a burger. And the only reason he waits so long is because hamburgers would probably look so uncivilized in how messy they can be to eat to his fellow sect members, not at all dainty or refined or elegant, just big hunk of meat and bread and assorted toppings you eat with your hands, and it drips if you put sauce on it or cook it anything less than well-done-!

But also, like. Craving.

So he figures out how to make a decent bun with the flour and cooking methods he has available, makes a burger with some veg and various sauces on it, then hides in the kitchen to eat it, absolutely sure that the scents of all the other foods he cooks in there will hide it, and thus he won’t be disgracing himself in front of Shizun. And if he gets caught he’s 100% planning on playing the ‘it’s a demonic dish and I’m trying to get in touch with the portions of my heritage I find tasteful.’

Except he doesn’t actually expect to get caught, because why would Shizun go in the kitchen? Because why would Binghe know that his teacher is a millennial and thus can be lured out of hiding by the scent of burgers, pizza, chicken nuggets, and the like? Meaning Binghe’s just absolutely lost in enjoying his first burger in months when suddenly Shizun is right there, looking down at Binghe curiously and asking what he’s eating, with a spark of genuine interest in his eyes.

Skipping over Binghe tripping over his own words and then somehow surrendering his burger to Shizun and then suffering the duality of ‘Shizun likes my cooking and isn’t judging me for eating something weird~!’ and ‘noooooo, Shizun, my burger!’, the ‘new dish’ is approved of and Binghe receives both permission and encouragement to continue making them, including for others if he wants to. Binghe is exultant, even if this isn’t actually a demonic recipe Shizun doesn’t know that and he’s still okay with it, Shizun is the most bestest, wonderfulest, coolest-!!!

...

...but also he’s going to pass the recipe on to Sha Hualing and Mobei-jun and tell them to spread it around a bit just so he’s got his bases covered on it being a demonic food, just in case. Mobei-jun listens, recalls that food is apparently something you should give pathetic men if you’re trying to romance them, and tries this ‘new demonic recipe’ on Shang Qinghua. Shang Qinghua takes one look at the result, bursts into tears, actually growls when Mobei-jun tries to take it back under the impression that he’s miscalculated, then devours his burger exactly like a semi-feral author-person who hasn’t had a burger in over forty years. This earns the recipe a spot next to hand-pulled noodles on Mobei-jun’s list of things he knows Shang Qinghua likes, and Mobei-jun himself some very earnest offers of sex.

Meanwhile Shen Yuan’s confidently telling himself that it’s totally straight to decide you’re going to let another guy court you with the intention of marriage just because he knows how to make the closest thing you’ve had to a teriyaki burger in years, absolutely normal straight guy behaviour.

A - Affection (how do they show affection to their s/o) She loves playing with hair or gussying up that matches with your gender identity. It doesn’t matter if it’s casual or something more formal, she’d love to dress you up and do make-up if you wear it. Quick kisses on the cheek, the largest of smiles that light up her eyes, hand holding - sometimes in public, letting you win in Mario Kart or giving you the fruit you need in Animal Crossing, hiding at least one treat and one drink to make an emergency pack if you ever have a “hangry” moment. She also likes to buy little trinkets she finds on her travels.

B - Best Friend (what are they like as a best friend?) She makes for a great friend. She’s very extroverted, and while she does have a bit of a wall, she is happy to make friends if it feels natural to her.. She knows when to joke around and when it’s time to be more serious. She knows when to lift you up, but when to bring you (or Kate) to Earth. She’ll show up at your workplace/university with a cup of coffee or tea just because she can. Did your partner break up with you? Well, do you want him dead or eat ice cream in our PJs, or both? (Then she remembers she can’t kill people like that anymore.). Expect shopping trips and walks with Fanny. She’s fine to veg out or have a fun night out.

C - Cuddling (do they like to cuddle? And how would they do it?) It takes some time for Yelena to become accustomed to positive touch again. As a child, she was clingy and cuddly, which was stamped out in the widow training. She loves cuddling with her dog on the couch, and while she’s not supposed to be on the bed, she sometimes ends up there. She’s not used to cuddling with people so she’d have to be introduced to it. It takes some time to warm up, but far quicker than Natasha.  She likes to wrap her arms around someone’s waist and lay her chin on their head or shoulder. 

D - Domestic (do they want to settle down? How good are they at cooking and cleaning) Yelena never thought domesticity for the sake of it was something in her cards, but she fell back into it quickly upon reuniting with Melina and Alexei, and it’s something she craves. It’s stabilizing and a great comfort. Black Widows are taught how to care for a household, as seen in Agent Carter. Yelena lived more off of MREs (Meals Ready to Eat) and protein bars, but again, she’d branch out to whatever she could find. She’s not the most tidy of people, but more so than Kate. She enjoys her Mac n Cheese but also comforts from home. She thinks chicken nuggets are the oddest things. Taco Bell is also odd to her.

E - Ending (if they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?) She’d be brisk and professional as though she was breaking up with a business partner. She doesn’t want to think about the emotional aspect. However, she would be heartbroken inside.

Not much going on in the garden yet, but it has been rainy so thought I'd share a few pics of what I've cooked the last week :)

I made tomatilla salsa~

I had never made it before a month ago and now, my partner asks I make it weekly :). I'd like to get some tomatilla plants growing this upcoming spring/summer season.

Veggie stock (which I used in rice, cabbage dishes and soup) made from the bits.

Cabbage, sausage and peppers w/ some garlic + black pepper and steamed w/ veg stock.

Even the most die hard cabbage naysayers in the house enjoyed this meal :)

Homemade chicken nuggets. We've been on a quest to replace quick meals with homemade versions, this one is similar to one I posted awhile ago, only I left out the potato for a carb-less version.

Stir-fried veggie and chicken rice. We used leftover rice from a night out to try someplace new for this one :)

I know it looks like fried chicken, it's not lol. It's apple fritters without the powdered sugar. (We're cutting unnecessary sugars out)

The recipe from this one's an old one, but honestly it's really good and simple. I will be sharing this recipe at a later date :)

I'm feeling A bit hungry now looking at these food pics. so I think I'm off to make something to eat again~

minha rotina em dias úteis

5:35: acordar

5:40/6:00: me alongar/fazer exercícios

faço as próximas coisas escutando música.

6:00/6:15: tomar banho gelado

6:16/6:20: escovar os dentes

6:20/6:25: lavar e hidratar o rosto

6:25/6:35: me maquiar

corretivo em baixo dos olhos, pó compacto, delineador, rímel e hidratante labial.

6:35/6:38: arrumar o cabelo

normalmente eu arrumo ele de noite, então de dia eu só preciso pentear e deixar bonitinho.

deixar água fervendo quando sair do banheiro.

6:38/6:42: vestir o uniforme e calçar o tênis

6:45/6:55: tomar chá (de hibisco ou verde) enquanto leio alguma coisa

6:56: passar perfume

7:00: ir pra aula

7:50, 8:40, 9:30, intervalo 9:50, 10:50, 11:30, 12:00.

12:00/13:30: comer alguma fruta e ir pra academia

somente frutas na segunda, quarta e sexta. nos outros dias podem ser smothies (com menos calorias possíveis) com uma colher de sopa de chia e frutas com baixas calorias.

13:30/13:40: ir pra casa

13:45/13:53: tomar banho (quente se tiver sido muito "puxado" na acad.) e escovar os dentes

13:53/13:56: me vestir

14:00: colocar minha irmã pra dormir

livre até 15h

15:00/16:00 (16:30): lavar a louça, varrer a casa, passar pano se for necessário, arrumar os quartos e lavar o banheiro

16:00 (ou 16:30): acordar minha irmã

16:30: brincar com ela até a mãe chegar

livre até as 18:00

18:00/18:45: estudar

18:45/19:10: fazer atividades do Colégio

19:15/19:30: comer alguma coisa se for segunda ou sexta

(nos outros dias come somente a fruta do pré-treino.)

limite de 200kcal, nada de frituras, optar por frutas, verduras e legumes.

19:35/20:05: usar o celular

20:06/20:25: dançar ou fazer exercícios da oppserve

20:26/20:35 (20:40): banho gelado (lavar o cabelo se for domingo, terça, ou quinta)

20:36/20:45: passar hidratante no corpo, fazer massagens na barriga e vaccum

20:45/21:00: secar o cabelo

21:02/21:20: alisar o cabelo

não usar o celular a partir das 21:30!

21:30/22:10: beber chá verde e ler

22:15/22:20: escovar os dentes

22:30: dormir

Morango, uva, maçã, banana, abacaxi, acerola, kiwi, melancia.

Cenoura, brócolis, couve, alface, repolho, tomate cereja, cebola, pepino, milho, ervilha.

Nugget veg da sadia, whey de cacau zero lactose e zero açúcar da piracanjuba (tem 70kcal um copo), pão integral.

Leite integral, smothies, sucos sem açúcar, água saborizada, monster do branco/de maçã verde, limonada sem açúcar, coca zero.

pense bem antes de comer.
