I wondered why NOprah purchased that 2023 Variety award for Fantasia. It seems her "award" was designed to promote/sell NOprah's latest (cinematic) business venture. NOprah has been partnered with Lifetime (Oxygen) & umbrella media companies for over two (2) decades. With nearly forty (40) years in this business, NOprah always protects her investment, hence the Variety promo in 2022 (for megflix) and again in 2023 at Kevin Costner's celebrity fundraiser & Beyonce's concert w/Thirsty Tyler Perry in the A-list section, etc. Royal Watchers who insist that NOprah no longer "supports" The MEGains simply do NOT understand that NOprah is a business woman. Ellen and Chrissy Teigen are bullies but NOprah & friends (Obama's etc) continue to BUILD them up.

Maybe this latest flop will get her attention? Doubtful.

Tyler the Canary Furrie from the heavenly planet Pleasure Paradise

Tyler the brave, clever, daring, creative, wisecracking, selfless, bold, friendly, artistic, courageous, very intelligent, sometimes sarcastic, imaginative and sympathetic Yellow Canary Furrie loves relaxing out in the countryside on Pig Island milking Cows or just resting while listening to the calming melody The Singing Flowers hum softly to him at the same time looking up at the clouds or the stars. He first befriended his original creator Papa Bear (formerly Lachlan Ormerod) when he was reduced to homelessness after he was cheated then swindled out of his private stash of hidden Dragons Treasure aka Dragons Gold by a small gang of malicious Weasel, Ferret, Raccoon and Coyote Bandits before they burned down his farmhouse. Since then Tyler has developed an intense dislike of Ferrets, Raccoons, Weasels and Coyotes. That was when he first met Papa Bear along with his protective guardian angel aka Jodie the four hundred pound Pink Heavenly Whippet and a few other Animal Furries whom they helped on their quest. After telling his newfound friends the story of his ordeal Papa Bear kindly offers the weeping Canary a permanent home, to which Tyler agreed. Upon finally arriving on Pig Island, however, The Dragon Army from the planetoid Medievilonia come marching to storm The Castle of Heaven aka The Heavenly Castle to raid it of it's lost Dragons Treasure. Summoning a sudden burst of pent-up bravery and becoming surprisingly stronger than ever Tyler angrily joins in on the battle, physically attacking a few Dragon Soldiers and bashing them unconsciously. Papa Bear happily provides Tyler a Bird Wand to teach him some magic. Shortly after concocting a Stupidity Spell on the humiliated Dragon Soldiers Papa Bear offers the empowered Canary job opportunity, which Tyler gladly accepted. A while later Tyler has a part-time job at The Heavenly Castle as one of Jodie's loyal advisors (she is now queen since the thirty five foot tall Pink Heavenly Whippet successfully obtained most of The Dragons Treasure in the castle dungeons) and a full-time job at Georgette's Ice Cream and Yoghurt Co Factory as one of the dairy product delivery Birds alongside Papa Bear mainly due to his great respect for his true creator. When not working Tyler mostly enjoys either going to The Nude Camp, The Nudist Spa or even one of The Nude Beaches for because of his artistic passion for creating nude clay sculptures of every one of his heavenly friends. Tyler spends eternity singing loudly to ''The Canary Necessities'' while shaking and occasionally bumping his butt against the trees🐦🐥🛖🌴🌋🏖️🏝️

Heck YEAH

"Filk" is music (often but not always folk music-style, often but not always song parodies to the tune of famous pre-existing songs) about sci-fi, fantasy, and other fannish topics. Filk circles are popular events at science fiction conventions, and that's really where the genre started. The word "filk" actually arose from a typo in a convention program once, and people just rolled with it ever since!

Some of the most iconic albums in the filk world are the anthology albums "Minus Ten And Counting" (songs about space exploration and the real-life space program), "Carmen Miranda's Ghost" (songs about sci-fi space shenanigans and space ghosts), and "Finity's End: Songs of the Station Trade" (songs set in the world of CJ Cherryh's Alliance-Union novels, and my personal favorite. I've never read any of CJ Cherryh's books, but these songs paint such a vivid world.) "Space Heroes and Other Fools" is another big one, it's more hit-or-miss for me but it's iconic. Other really good and foundational ones are "Divine Intervention" by Julia Ecklar, "Avalon is Risen" by Leslie Fish, and "We Are Who We Are" by Vixy & Tony.

I lean more towards sci-fi and space than fantasy, but fantasy and paganism are huuuugely popular filk topics too.

Some of the most popular names to look into include Leslie Fish (intensely prolific, barely a fraction of her work is on any streaming or music service), Julia Ecklar (famous for her "ose," the filk-world word for sad songs - because they're "ose, more-ose, and even more-ose), Juanita Coulson, Kristoph Klover, Vic Tyler (who just recently died :( rest in peace), Duane Elms, Kathy Mar, Bob Kanefsky, Alexander James (trans, with lots of filk under his previous name as well), Vixy & Tony, and Seanan McGuire. (I like Seanan McGuire's filk music better than her books, hah.) Some other great ones include Cat Faber (most acapella), Astrisoni, The PDX Broadsides, Kari Maaren, and Sassafrass (also mostly acapella. Includes Ada Palmer). Heather Dale, Tom Lehrer, and Jonathan Coulton are kind of honorary filkers too haha.

The best place to get the ones from 80s and 90s cassettes are on the Internet Archive or Youtube; a few filkers who are more currently active have their stuff on Bandcamp.

In one of the more bizarre moments at the Covid Inquiry so far, Professor Neil Ferguson, the architect of Britain’s lockdown, today denied ever calling for the first national stay-at-home order – in the latest instance of lockdown backpedalling. 

The Mail  has more.

Professor Neil Ferguson’s terrifying March 2020 models warned that 500,000 Brits would die unless tougher action was taken to curb the virus’s spread.

It spooked Boris Johnson into adopting draconian restrictions that saw the country told they “must stay at home.” Vaccines — considered the only safe route out of the pandemic — were still months away from being deployed.

But Professor Ferguson, who quit his role as a SAGE adviser two months after being caught breaking social distancing rules to meet his married lover, today insisted he didn’t tell officials to plunge the country into a lockdown.

He told the UK COVID-19 Inquiry that the situation was “a lot more complex.”

The inquiry is in its second module, which is examining core UK decision-making and political governance.

Hugo Keith KC asked: “Do you feel that you did confine yourself to the provision of scientific advice, or did you become, despite your best endeavours, irrevocably involved in determination of policy?”

Imperial College London’s Professor Ferguson, nicknamed ‘Professor Lockdown’ for his infamous modelling, said it was a “difficult question to answer.”

He said: “I know I’m associated very much with a particular policy.

“But as you’ll be aware from the evidence I’ve given in my statement and statements of evidence, the reality was a lot more complex. 

“I don’t think I stepped over that line to say ‘we need to do this now.’

“What I tried to do was at times, which was stepping outside the scientific advisory role, to try and focus people’s minds on what was going to happen and the consequences of current trends.”

The epidemiologist drew heavy flak for his team’s modelling on the Covid pandemic. 

Their work suggested 500,000 Brits would die if nothing was done to stop the spread of the virus and there would be 250,000 deaths if two-thirds caught Covid.

Ross Clark in the Spectator says that perhaps the most remarkable revelation from Professor Ferguson’s inquiry evidence is that “he spoke to and emailed Ben Warner at No. 10 on March 13th, three days before the Imperial paper [Report 9] was published.”

Warner was a data scientist brought into Downing Street by Dominic Cummings and whom Cummings later credited for inducing pandemic alarm in No. 10, so Ferguson contacting him directly beforehand is significant. 

However, Clark notes that in his email to Warner,

“Ferguson then stopped short of damning the Government’s policy of mitigation rather than suppression. In fact, if the Government decided to continue with mitigation, he wrote, ‘there is a rational basis to that decision which I would say the science supports.’ However, he added, the Government should make it clear how many people were likely to die.

“Intriguingly, Ferguson then went on to write: ‘This event is in the natural disaster category and the cure (e.g. massive social distancing, shutdowns) could be worse than the disease.’ In other words, he had at least considered the possibility that lockdowns could cause more damage than they were worth – but neither he nor anyone else seems to have tried to model this.”"
