im very conflicted about playing ovw2. i stopped playing ovw1 years ago back when all the controversies started, and actiblizz is a truly shit and vile company full of terrible people. but i still love the characters and the content the fandom creates for it (your blog, as an example). i know ovw2 is f2p now, and while i would not drop any money for any content ingame, but i know that player metrics is still a form of support for the game itself? i genuinely miss ovw1 and playing the game but i really, really do not want to support actiblizz. what were your own thoughts on this, or i guess maybe a bit of advice to help me make a decision for myself? like i said i really loved the gameplay. it was some of the most fun i had. but i am super conflicted about how to feel about playing. so i figured i would get an opinion on this given you have mentioned before playing ovw2 and if it feels comparable to how ovw1 was

The 5v5 and the battle passes are the biggest shifts, that and the fact that 2CP maps are no longer available in regular quickplay modes (they have been available in the arcade though). I'm still trying to figure out the experience system--basically it's a Fortnite-esque system where you work your way up through levels in the battlepass, and with each level you get a cosmetic. This new system is kind of a slog and to be honest I kind of miss the old lootbox system because at least you could look forward to multiple items or at least in-game currency upon leveling up--the new system basically has you like "I can't believe I'm grinding for a damn Sigma voiceline just to get to that Cassidy skin two levels after."

The ability to earn in-game currency is really reduced, but your "legacy currency" from OW1 carries over--but it's static. Like "I'm afraid to spend it" static. You can also get experience bonuses by completing challenges. So this kind of forces you to play flex, tank, and so on, so it is interesting that there's this regularly updating thing that incentivizes you to mix up your gameplay and collaborate with other players more. 5v5 is still... messy. I'm starting to understand the general concept is that this game mode is more about rapidly maneuvering around the map and flanking even when you're on defense, but it's still very messy with regards to slower utility supports like Ana and Zenyatta. They're continuing to tweak the game.

Honestly I think the decision to let go of Overwatch ultimately boils down to what you think will make you happier. I mean, I still play it because I got really attached to the characters and the community it introduced me to, and I've got friends in the game where basically the game is our preferred medium of communication. But ActiBlizz sucks. Big time. But it's also messy because there are people within Blizzard who are trying to fight for better working conditions and a better workplace environment--Blizzard definitely represents some of the worst bro and crunch culture of the gaming industry but it's not really monolithic.

Like, in terms of my creative output, I'm currently working to take my fankids and put them in their own original fiction because like, I love them and I think they deserve better than to be stuck in that property forever. There's a saying in yoga to "let go of that which no longer serves you" and I'm constantly stuck with this question of "how much did I/do I get out of it vs how much did I put into it", and I don't want to fall into a sunk cost fallacy. And that's the tough part because the fandom and community aspect of it brought so much to the table, so it wasn't just my writing, it was my friends' writing and art, and it's every single ask you guys send because I genuinely love working with all the prompts you guys send me.

So honestly I can't answer your question. It's going to come down to you and what you get out of the game and the community. I've seen a lot of people leave the community, but a lot of them were also people who spent a frankly baffling amount of their fandom time fighting for their lives with complete idiots on twitter, yelling at Blizzard for Pharah or whoever their fave was not being the center of every update, and forgetting there's such a thing as a block button and cultivating your fandom experience. Like, a lot of the Overwatch experience is what you put in, so that's why there's this whole spectrum of who's stayed and who's left. To be honest, I am working on expanding my horizons after 5 years of hyperfixating, plus I've seen some decent success with readership for non-fandom stuff, but I also don't want to give up the joy the playing and creating have given me and just try and sink all that passion somewhere else.

Ultimately it's going to come down to you and how much you get out of it. Though honestly you've already gone years without it, I think you're going to be okay.

02. Mature Content & Themes. This blog contains mature and potentially triggering content. Any minors who follow will be blocked. That being said, graphic language makes me extremely uncomfortable, so I’m mostly going to keep my writing sfw/non-graphic. I will not write any level of spice even if it’s vague/implied. Fade to black will be my go-to should our characters’ relationship develop that far. Do not try to force smut on me, or you will be hard-blocked.

I don’t tag triggers unless my mutuals specify in their rules what they want tagged, or if someone reaches out directly to ask me to tag something. So, if you have anything you want tagged, you’re welcome to reach out. I have no triggers, but I do ask that you tag your suggestive/nsfw content, implied or otherwise. If you don’t, I will reach out and ask. If you refuse or repeatedly do not tag your nsfw/suggestive content, I will most likely end up soft-/hard-blocking.

03. Activity & Response Rate. My activity will vary, but mostly it will be from medium to low, as long as I’m not busy with work. I will never pressure anyone for replies, and I expect the same treatment from anyone I interact with. The only times I'll message about a reply is to confirm that you have received mine (in case you haven't responded within our usual timeframe, or tumblr messes up, which happens all too often), but never to pressure you for one. Ever. For busy times, mains and shipping partners will take priority.

04. Following & Mutuals. This blog is mutuals-only. I will only interact with those I follow and who follow me back. Please state your age or age-range somewhere easily accessible on your blog, and have something resembling a rules page, even if it’s just one sentence. I will not be following or interacting with anyone under 20.

05. Portrayal. My portrayal of Annie will be a mix between the manga and anime, as well as some of my own headcanons for her. I have read most of the manga but never had the chance to finish it. I did, however, watch all of the anime. I do NOT follow popular fandom headcanons for characters, so please do not assume them onto my portrayal of Annie.

06. Style Preferences. My writing style tends to be very minimalistic and accessible. When it comes to length, sometimes I like short and sweet, sometimes I like long, detailed novel-style RPs. It really depends on the mood and the vibe, but either is fine with me. In any case, I’m just here to have fun writing with other people, so I won’t go overboard with formatting and stylization.

07. OCs & Crossovers. If your OC is an Snk/AOT character, I’m more than happy to interact. However, pre-established relationships must be discussed beforehand. Otherwise, I would prefer for our characters to meet for the first time and get to know each other as the thread progresses. I will only consider crossovers if you have an SnK/AOT verse for your character.

08. Shipping. This blog will be multi-ship–meaning I’m going to explore different ships with Annie, and each one will be independent from the other/set in its own verse, so unless plotted beforehand, there will be no crossing over.

While I do have my own preferences when it comes to shipping with Annie, chemistry is an absolute must here. I prefer building up relationships first instead of jumping straight to romance. Do not try to insta-ship with me, and definitely do not try to force-ship. Aside from romance, I'm more than happy to develop other kinds of relationships with all characters! Friends, rivals, enemies, you name it!

09. No Godmodding. Unfortunately, this has to be said. But please, don't make decisions on my character's behalf, don't do things to my character before she gets a chance to agree/decline/react. Don't assume my character's answer to questions she's being asked. Don't write my character for me. Just don't. MINOR godmodding is okay in the case of ask prompts that I may send your way, because most prompts do require a little bit of godmodding for the interactions to work, but outside of that, just don't do it. The only other time I will allow godmodding is if it's concerning something that we have discussed/plotted and it's for the sake of thread progression.

And just to repeat my point from the previous bit, please, please, please do not insta-ship with me or force any ships on me. I will not hesitate to confront you if you do any of these things.

10. Last but not least, it’s always good to take a step back and remember that this is just fiction, it’s not real, and there are more important things in the world to get worked up over, so let’s just enjoy the fandom in peace! If you ever disrespect my boundaries or make my hobby feel like a chore, I will distance myself and ultimately cut all contact if necessary.

Distant and shy at first cause' I dunno how to initiate a conversation, but a total opposite if I open up---friendly, ambivert, witty, laughing loudly on a daily basis, talkative, awkward, daydreamer (I got embarrassed from knocking at the door even I'm inside the classroom 😂), EXTREMELY clumsy, secretly likes affection, easily overwhelmed, prone to melt over any wholesomeness, flusters on compliments, lightly blushes on cheesy banters, sarcastic person with a lowkey crackhead energy citing meme references, and talented girl who can be your no. 1 supporter and unashamed to be true to myself. People thought I'm a demure self-effacing woman that looks "idealistic" or "one of a kind," (due to my protective parents, a reason why I've never been in a relationship) but the truth is, I'm eloquent, warm-hearted, willig to help, kind, intelligent, supportive, nice, creative, enthusiastic, determined, tough, competitive, and feisty outside, but a real softie that can be childish and dramatic crybaby filled with doubts, frustrations, and insecurities with fear of failure that pushes off the limits to to please everyone, yet I still managed to be stronger than ever, even it's a slow burn process. In terms of triggers...I only have two which are ta𝖨king about divorce/annullment/separation because I came from a generational broken family and religion/beliefs discrimination, cause' there are reasonings that doesn't makes sense because some are too hypocritical.

My best assets are smile, eyes, personality, singing voice, artistic skills, writings, intelligence, and oratorical skills...so I can consider myself as a singer, artist, orator, and a top student who's a former active campus ministry member with three roles (choir leader, psalm singer, and reader). Currently an incoming college freshman, learning how to cook and have so many interests, to the point I don't know what I'm into because of my dreams to become a popular Filipino YouTuber, a novelist, and being part of a successful chorale competing internationally...I also consider joining pageants at school too once the pandemic ends, but maybe.

One of the most beautiful things about Cedric is that although he may show some introverted tendencies, he still manages to have a natural gift for connecting to others and allowing them to feel comfortable enough to open up. Really, your initial distance and shyness don't last nearly as long towards Cedric as they would with most other people.

Hearing your laughter brings the widest, cheesiest grin to Cedric’s face. Not only does he adore seeing you happy, but he also recognizes that your anxiety, insecurities, and strong emotions can sometimes cloud up your demeanor. Cedric’s listening also comes in handy whenever you talk about your interests! He genuinely loves hearing about the things you’re interested in solely for the fact that you’re interested in them. Side note: you can count on him to be at any music performances, pageants, etc. you may have -- this guy is truly your #1 supporter.

Cedric’s a very good student (though I suspect he’s somewhat of a procrastinator himself), so I can also see you two supporting each other through schoolwork and celebrating each other’s successes.

Like you, Cedric has a strong urge to do the right thing. Talking to him about social issues stirs up a need to help, and I could see you two doing volunteer work together in your spare time.

I like to believe one of Cedric’s biggest love languages is quality time. Don’t get me wrong, this guy loves staying involved and busy. But taking a couple hours to be with you in small ways (even if that means just being in the same room while you scroll through social media) gives him a nice balance.

Being unashamed to be true to yourself is one of the biggest reasons why Luna is so drawn to you. While she’s very friendly and insightful towards everyone she meets, it can get a bit repetitive for her to constantly interact with people who try to shelter their unique characteristics from the world. In her mind, these unique characteristics are what make people so fascinating! Why should anyone hide who they are?

Let’s be honest, it would take you two so long to ask each other out. You were probably already really close friends, but the insecurities and “what if?” questions from both of you delayed an actual relationship.

When you finally started dating, you were both so relieved. You still share a laugh at how almost nothing changed in the way you interacted with each other.

While with mutual friends, Remus sometimes likes to sit back and just watch you, especially when you get really talkative because this is when you become the most expressive. He has the softest smile when you’re actively cracking jokes, discussing something you’re passionate about, or even calling someone out. I'm a bi girl. Cancer, INFP-A, I'm someone who has a hard time making friends and approaching people. The type to want to be friends with people but always decides to stick to myself due to uncertainty and the fact that I'm always wary and suspicious of people. The type to do my best to take care of my friends, the introverted big sister type who hides an inner gremlin. I'm also highly imaginative and empathetic. I'm also someone who's driven with passion when it comes to her goals but slightly insecure, trying to get rid of my insecurity by finding confidence.

I'm fond of The Little Prince (My comfort story). I like fairy tales, dancing like I'm a ballerina even though I'm not even one. Despite my preference for the Creative, I'm someone who occasionally dabbles in important issues and try to see through the eyes of both sides. I'm not fond of physical touches. What fandom(s) do you write for? Ateez, Nct (ot21), The Boyz, and now Stray Kids

When did you post your first piece? My first writing blog work was posted February 1st 2019 (Quenched - Yeosang)

Do you write fluff/angst/crack/general/smut, combo, etc? Why? Generally fluff and angst, sometimes a combo, though I have tried writing some crack more recently. I'm just more familiar with fluff and angst and it's easier to pull off

Do you write OCs, X Readers, Ships...etc? I mostly write x reader stuff. I have written with OCs and ships but I prefer to read and write x reader stuff so I stuck with that

Why did you decide to write for Tumblr? My Ateez writing blog was my first writing blog, but I did write a couple of stuff before that. I think it's just a case of "I have this really cool idea and I want to share it with my friends"

What inspires you to write? Just about anything - conversations with friends, Tumblr posts, my weird dreams etc.

What genres/AUs do you enjoy writing the most? I've really enjoyed writing prince aus (like my Xiaojun prince au) as well as getting into writing fantasy and crack stuff. I still feel most confident with angst though

What do you hope your readers take away from your work? I simply hope they enjoy it. It would be great if I could make them smile or cry with my writing

What do you do when you hit a rough spot creatively? I just take a step back. I don't force myself to write if nothing's coming to me. Sometimes I talk through what I'm writing with a friend and it helps give me some ideas. But generally, I try not to force it

What is your favorite work and why? Your most successful? My favourite work, excluding my wips, is probably 'Dear First Love' because it's the longest thing I've ever written and I think the storyline is really cute. My most successful is 'Hugging Ateez'

Do you think there’s a difference between writing fanfiction vs. completely original prose? I mean yes? To some degree. In terms of the process I guess not, but original prose is less likely to include famous people (real or fictional) so it's different in that respect

What do you think makes a good story? A good story, to me, is one where the reader is invested in the story. If the reader doesn't care about the characters and what happens to them, then to me, it's not a good story

What is your writing process like? I get an idea, write down the basic idea, then build around that, laying out the plot and all its twists and turns and fleshing out my characters. Once I've got a good idea of what I'm doing, I'll start writing. When I'm organised, anyway. Otherwise I just see where my writing takes me!

Would you ever repurpose a fic into a completely original story? Absolutely! If there was a fic that I was really proud of and wanted to turn it into an original story, I'd go for it

What tropes do you love, and what tropes can’t you stand? I'm a sucker for pretty much any trope as long as it's legal and not toxic. I really love 'found family' and the classic 'friends to lovers' tropes. I'm not sure if these are tropes, but I'm not really into mpreg or body swapping. You do you, writers, but it's just not for me

How much would you say audience feedback/engagement means to you? A lot! Even one reblog or comment puts a smile on my face and makes me proud of what I've made

Coffee or tea? What are you ordering? Tea! I have regular tea with some milk and a couple of sugars

Dream job (whether you have a job or not)? At the moment, it's to be a florist, although I'd really love to be a successful author

If you could have one superpower, what would you choose? The power to control plants so maybe mine won't die on me anymore

If you could visit a historical era, which would you choose? Either the Victorian or Georgian/regency era

If you were a trope in a teen high school movie, what would you have been? Probably the nerd/teacher's pet?

Do you believe in aliens/supernatural creatures? Some of them yes (e.g ghosts), some of them no (e.g. vampires)

Do you think fanfic writers get unfairly judged? I do. Especially by those who don't read/write fanfiction. A lot of people think we're 'cringy' or that we make things gross. There's definitely some gross fanfics out there, but I don't think fanfic writers as a whole should be judged by one questionable fanfic someone read once

Do you think art can be a medium for change? Yes, all kinds of art can. There's a lot of literature and art now that picks apart problems in our society and challenges them. It's already lead to some change in the way people think about certain things

Do you ever feel there are times when you’re writing for others, rather than yourself? I used to back when I wrote requests on another site. I'd sit there and churn out request after request after request like a robot until I started to hate writing and had to take a break for a while. Now, I just write what inspires me. I'll take a few requests but no way am I ever going back to the way I wrote before

Do your offline friends/loved ones know you write for Tumblr? I imagine my university flatmates have probably seen me reblogging my writing at least once, so yes. As for my family, I don't think they know what Tumblr even is (thankfully!)

What is one thing you wish you could tell your followers? This is really simple but… I love you and thank you for supporting me!

Do you have any advice for aspiring writers who might be too scared to put themselves out there? I know it's super scary putting out writing for others to see, but really, some leaps are worth it. You'll never really know how something will go if you never try. Maybe you could start off with small steps, like sharing a piece of writing with a couple of friends if you don't feel confident jumping straight in

Are there any times when you regret joining Tumblr? Sometimes, if there's drama in a fandom or fanwars going on, but I generally try to stay away from it and just enjoy the lighthearted content

Do you have any mutuals who have been particularly formative/supportive in your Tumblr journey? Yes, in one way or another. Some of them have helped me with my writing ideas, whilst others have been a rock for me emotionally, and many have played both roles. To name a handful of people, @linothot, @silverstonemanor and @wangjyunhao amongst many others have really helped me 💛

Oikawa Tooru lived a hard life. Each night he silently curses those who had it easy; his best friend Hanamaki, who was currently harboring a six-foot cat shifter, his mail carrier who saw through the eyes of the bird on his shoulder, and of course, those who weren’t saddled with any sort of non-human (or part-human) baggage.

So what if magic had been integrated into his life? He can put up with the mummies bagging his groceries but it’s blasphemous to have to house an incubus.

All told, Kuroo Tetsurou wasn’t necessarily an ungracious guest. Sure, he takes up the entire couch on occasion. Sure, he eats all the sweets in the house even though he doesn’t require human food for energy. Sure, every few nights Oikawa would dream of cold fingers and slow smirks that helped sustain Kuroo (among other things), but really, it wasn’t a big deal.

Until– well. Until Kuroo says something that throws Oikawa for a loop.

“I’ve got a friend coming over,” drawls the lazy incubus, craning his neck to look back at Oikawa who’s seated at the table. Case files are spread out all around him.

“Mm?” Oikawa, distracted, allows himself to glance up. “Like a–? Another special friend? Like that loud one with the big hair?”

Kuroo looks smug, but he shakes his head. “No, no. Another incubus. I want him to stay here for a while.”

Oikawa chokes on his spit. “You’re inviting another incubus–”

“Yep.”

“– to stay at my home, take advantage of my hospitality–”

“Pretty much, yeah.”

“– why?!” Oikawa wails, dropping his head onto the table and groaning loudly. “You’re bad enough! And am I even getting paid for this?”

“No way. This isn’t through that weird agency who wants to see how people respond to demons or whatever.” Kuroo flicks a dismissive hand. “I just think you two will get along. Plus, he lasts way longer than you. I have needs, Tooru~”

Oikawa’s face burns. “I hate you,” growls the medium, glaring down at the pictures in front of him. “You’re interfering with my work, you know.”

“It was a crime of passion!” Kuroo declares boldly. “Always is.”

“Go to hell.”

“What, back to the motherland? No way. Shitty climate and no pastries.”

“Oh my god.”

Later on that night, Kuroo creeps into Oikawa’s bedroom and gently swats the book from his hands. “Oi. We should talk.”

Oikawa scowls and reaches for it, marking his page. “What now?”

“Do you really not want him here?” Kuroo asks bluntly, making Oikawa falter. “I know it’s… ‘taking advantage of your hospitality’ or whatever but I really do think you two would get along. And I sort of…” He shifts his feet. “Miss him. Or whatever.”

Oikawa’s eyes glitter. “Aww~ so he does have emotions!”

“Shut up.” Kuroo exhales hard and rolls his eyes. “So should I cancel my invitation or not?”

Oikawa chews on his bottom lip. Would a second really be so bad? Maybe this mystery addition could help with the dishes– neither he nor Kuroo have a taste for them, so they pile up day after day. “I… no,” he relents, sighing. “You can invite him over.”

Kuroo grins. “Knew you would come to your senses,” he says, wings spreading and shifting as he crawls down next to Oikawa. The medium gives an annoyed click of his tongue and pretends to snub him, quickly losing reason to as Kuroo’s fingers press to his jaw and dip down his chest.

Oikawa sleeps well that night, face buried into the devil’s chest.

Work is grueling. Oikawa isn’t exactly on top of his game as he stares down at the pictures of the victims, desperately trying to reach out to them, find out what happened. Their precinct suffers a bust, and Oikawa returns home gloomy.

Apparently, it shows. Oikawa sinks down into the armchair and sighs, eyebrows knitted together. Kuroo lopes over and runs his fingers through Oikawa’s hair, the gesture oddly domestic and kind that it makes his eyelids droop. “Rough day?”

“Yeah,” mumbles Oikawa, stiffening when something crashes elsewhere in the house. “What the fu–”

“Oh, that was probably just Hajime.” He can hear the grin on Kuroo’s voice. “Bit of a klutz, that one.”

“Oh lord, he’s here now?” Oikawa gripes, sour eyes locked on the bathroom door as it opens. “I don’t have the energy to…”

The words die in his throat as the unfamiliar incubus– Iwaizumi Hajime, he had been told– steps out. He shares some features with Kuroo in the dark hair and slitted eyes, but the similarities end there. His wings are shorter than Kuroo’s and his tail longer, and the dark tattoos snaking over his body resembling veins rather than the ceremonial markings Kuroo has. Low-slung jeans allow his tail to lash out and he takes a long drag from the cigarette hanging between his fingers, Oikawa desperately trying not to stare at his exposed chest. Smoke curls up around his face and Kuroo chuckles lowly.

“Meet Iwaizumi Hajime,” he says.

Ten minutes later Oikawa has locked himself in his bedroom, heart pounding wildly. He really should have thought this over, but then again, he’d had no idea Iwaizumi would look like…

That.

Giving a long groan, Oikawa flops face-down onto his bed. Really, Kuroo was bad enough, and he was a flirt. He had no idea what Iwaizumi would act like, how long he would stay, if he would–

Oikawa’s blood runs cold. Having one incubus touch him was overwhelming, but two– lord, he would have to start drafting his will. Did two of them mean double the appetite, or double the frequency?

Or both?

There’s a cheerful knock on the door. “You alright?” calls Kuroo, voice sounding awfully gleeful. Oikawa cusses to himself. No use trying to hide anything, not when Kuroo and Iwaizumi can literally smell it. Or, well, probably. He’s still not totally sure of how the science behind all of that works.

Reluctantly, Oikawa unlocks and opens the door. Iwaizumi’s lounging on the couch, feet propped up, wearing a tank top that Kuroo had cut holes into for his wings. “I’m… fine,” he says slowly. “I guess I should introduce myself.”

“I know who you are.” Iwaizumi’s voice makes Oikawa feel a little weak in the knees. “Oikawa Tooru, human medium, working for the police.” His eyes flick over to Kuroo. “Terrible taste in men.”

“Excuse me?” Kuroo gawks. “You’re awfully cocky now that we have a human to play with!”

We. It feels official. “Oh my god,” Oikawa says weakly. “So you two have–?”

“Yep,” Iwaizumi says nonchalantly, and though his voice doesn’t sound proud, there’s a smile playing at his lips. “Before we were allowed out. It wasn’t great, but it sufficed in a pinch. Generally humans are the preferred…” He contemplates his word choice. “Vessel.”

Oikawa chokes on his spit and Kuroo, pouting, winds an arm around Oikawa’s hips. “You are a guest in his home,” he reminds pompously. “Be nice to the resident incubus.”

“Is that a requirement?” Iwaizumi’s eyes turn to Oikawa. “Can’t I just pay attention to the host?”

Oikawa hates that he shivers a little. “Be nice to Tetsu-chan,” he says, having to take a second in order to force the words out. “I still have the power to kick you both out.”

Kuroo surveys his nails. “It would take more than an eviction letter.”

Oikawa glares. “I might not be a witch, but my best friend is. He can Banish you.”

Iwaizumi’s eyebrows raise and Kuroo frowns. “That’s rude.”

“It is what it is,” Oikawa says vaguely, trying to regain control of the conversation. I call the shots, you sex leeches.”

There’s a moment of silence, then Iwaizumi snickers into his hand. “Sure, sure,” he says, standing. Oikawa blinks. “Your life would seem so sad without us in it, though.”

Oikawa gasps. “That’s rude!” he defends, tearing himself away from Kuroo and stalking into the living room. “My life is not sad!”

“You’re a mid-twenties medium living alone and working for the fuzz,” Kuroo drawls, following close behind.

“And your last movie rented was…” Iwaizumi squints at the screen Oikawa hadn’t noticed was on. “Pretty In Pink?”

Oikawa’s face burns. “… so?” he asks, voice growing rather meek.

“Your kitchen is full of milk bread and instant meals.”

“Well, I–”

“Your apartment has one bedroom.”

“My apartment is average, you ungrateful–”

“But now we’re here,” Iwaizumi says, cutting off Oikawa’s indignant protests. He walks forward and puts a hand to the juncture of Oikawa’s shoulder and neck– the human takes great pride in the fact that he’s taller than Iwaizumi. His fingers slide up to Oikawa’s jaw, and they’re warm, unlike Kuroo’s. A grin spreads over Iwaizumi’s face. “And things are just getting interesting.”
