the last post i reblogged just reignited my rage over something that happened my freshman year of college so mini rant in the notes lol
#so on tuesdays i had a a rhetoric class at 9:30 and then a chem lab at 2:50 or something weird like that#and sometimes i would just linger around campus during the gap but one day i started feeling super sick out of nowhere right after rhetoric#so i went back to my apartment to rest for a bit and found out my roommate was also sick#and i just kept feeling worse plus the fact that she was sick too told me it was an actual sickness not the random stuff i feel a lot#like nausea and headaches from being anemic for example#so i sent an email to the TA for my chem lab letting her know i was sick and i wouldn’t be there that day#and she said i needed a doctors note but i didn’t have a pcp or anything in my college town and there was a waitlist at the campus clinic#so i went home the next day and ended up going to a minute clinic so they could test for strep and bronchitis and stuff#(everything they tested for came back negative so i still don’t know what i had but i felt like absolute shit)#so i sent the paperwork from the clinic to my TA before our next lab on thursday and i was back in class by the tuesday after that#but even though i told her i was sick that first tuesday she said the doctors note only excused me from the thursday lab#so i went to office hours to make up the experiment from thursday but she wouldn’t let me do the tuesday one#each lab was worth 100 points and the only other grades we got were for these little 10 point quizzes that barely counted#so even though i had like a 99 in the class all semester up to that point i ended up with a B bc i got a zero for that one lab#and i’m still so mad about it like i did everything almost perfectly all semester and i couldn’t get an A#bc she wouldn’t let me make up a lab i missed while sick even though i got a doctors note a day later#keep in mind this was in 2021 right when the delta variant of covid was spreading like crazy#so the university made a huge point of encouraging everyone not to go to class if they felt sick in any way#like i was just trying not to infect all my classmates but bc i couldn’t immediately get a doctors note i lost a whole letter grade#and it was a fucking CHEM LAB like that shit was hard and i was doing so well!!! priscilla if you’re out there i still hold this against you#lj.txt

"You are cordially invited to the wedding of Park Sunghoon and L/N Soohee to celebrate their marriage this June 30th at three o'clock.”
The words on the wedding invitation make your eyes roll, it’s laughable. Knowing neither of you had talked in almost two years it was a wonder why Soohee had chosen to invite you to her wedding. Perhaps it was your mother, she'd always wanted her two girls to get along at some point, but that was easier said then done. Or maybe it was your stepfather? He'd always said you were his favorite, maybe he'd somehow convinced her to invite you. Attending the wedding wasn't what worried you the most though, it was the thought of showing up alone.
Sure you could show up flying solo and hope no one would bat an eye, but did you really want to put yourself through that? The millions of whispers thrown at you as you walk by with no one on your arm? Absolutely not.
That's what brings you here, on a hot summers day as you read the morning paper from the patio of your home. The ads all consist of different services, some are posted for models, some plumbers, even things like babysitting, but you're on the hunt for one thing and soon enough an ad catches your eye. It’s perfect. The ad reads -
"Rent-A-Boyfriend: Are you in need of a date? Want to keep your parents off your back? Need to brag to your friends? Have to keep the relatives at bay? Well look no further! Hire me, Jay Park, profesional boyfriend. I can be anything you need me to be for any occasion! Shoot me a text at XXX-XXX-XXXX or email me at [email protected]! Business inquiries only. Excited to date you soon!”
The ad had done its job and quickly enough you'd left Jay exactly seven different voice messages.
— YOU HAVE SEVEN VOICE MESSAGES, TO LISTEN: PLEASE PRESS NUMBER ONE.
VOICE MESSAGE #1 (9:17 PM):
"Errmmm...oh! It’s recording haha. Hello! This is Y/N L/N, umm so basically...oh um sorry I am so nervous haha. Okay so basically my name is Y/N and I need a date for my sisters wedding this month. Normally I'd have a date by now but I don't have the time to go out and date someone for two weeks and then force them to go to Korea with me ya know? So that's where I was hoping you'd come in! Oh shoot my time is running out...ummm okay give me a seco-"
VOICE MESSAGE #2 (9:23 PM):
"OH! HI! Sorry it cut me off last time haha oopsie! Anyways so basically the reason I need a date is because well basically I have this ex boyfriend his name is Heeseung and he kinda sorta dumped me like out of nowhere about two years ago. It was super sad but I was just like eh whatever dude. Then I came here to America haha not a good idea, anyways so yeah and he's gonna also be at that wedding because his best friend is actually the groom which makes him the best man and I can't-"
VOICE MESSAGE #3 (9:34 PM)
"Sorry cut off again but I can't show up alone it would be so embarrassing and we were engaged too by the way I don't know if I mentioned that already but yeah we dated for almost four years and he proposed to me and then boom just ended it so that's why I cannot by any means show up alone. Plus this is my baby sister that’s even more embarrassing, my younger sister getting married before me? Total loser moment."
VOICE MESSAGE #4 (10:45 PM):
"Sorry I forgot to give you details about the wedding lolz. It'll be in Korea, the countryside to be specific. It's on June 30th at 3pm at a wedding Chapel in the town we grew up in. We have to be there a week before. No worries though, l'II pay for our plane tickets. Since I'm the sister of the bride I have to do a lot of things with the bridal party and since you'll be my boyfriend you'd be doing things with the groomsmen. Sorry if that's too soon for you or if it doesn't work with your schedule, I'll pay you double I swear! I just really need this, need your help Jay."
VOICE MESSAGE #5 (11:38 PM):
"Um hi again, this'll be quick I promise. I just wanted you to know that if you can't do this it's okay! Thank you for your time. I really appreciate you.”
VOICE MESSAGE #6 (12:49 AM):
"Oh shit sorry this was an accidental dial. Have a good night haha! Sorry again!”
VOICE MESSAGE #7 (1:23 AM):
"Just give me a call back at XXX-XXX-XXXX if you do want to take the job and if not, no worries! I completely understand how last minute this may be. Have a good night Jay, sweet dreams."
— YOU HAVE ONE NEW VOICE MESSAGE: TO LISTEN PLEASE PRESS NUMBER ONE.
VOICE MESSAGE #1 (3:45 PM):
"Hey Y/N, this is Jay. I got your messages...all seven of them. No worries, I'd be happy to play your boyfriend at your sisters wedding, and about your ex, don’t even worry about him, we'll make sure he regrets his decision to ever leave you. You said we leave next week? Just send me the plane ticket and I'll be on that flight. See you soon Y/N, and don't worry too much, you've got this."
Tumblr media
“Woah! Hottie in aisle three am I right?!”
“What are you talking about Sunoo, stop staring at the people riding our planes. It’s a long way back to Korea they don’t need you ogling them for all ten hours.”
“Excuse me but did you not say you’re waiting for your rent-a-boyfriend? Babes I think that’s him.” Sunoo points his perfectly manicured finger towards aisle three where a man dressed in black slacks and a white button up sits comfortably flipping through a book. His head turns up as he feels your eyes on him and a smile flashes across his face.
“Alright, go meet your hunk and sit down, we’re taking off soon anyway.”
You begrudgingly take a seat in front of him, if you’d known he’d be this attractive you’d definitely not have hired him.
“Are you Y/N L/N? Or am I completely wrong and making a fool out of myself?”
His voice is sweet, soft and husky, you turn slightly to face him and meet his soft eyes. No judgement is seen on his face.
“Hi! Yes I am Y/N, I’m assuming you’re Jay? Well you probably are haha, because I got you the seat behind me…okay so anyways hello!”
He laughs softly and nods his head, “Get some rest Y/N, we have a long week ahead of us. When we land let’s go find you a dress and talk business, that okay with you?” Your nod of confirmation has you both relaxed as you turn back around to do just as he said.
“How does this one look?”
“I think you look great in it, remember you’re beautiful and you’ve got a lot going for you. He’s gonna regret ever breaking up with you.”
“Ugh I can’t do it, I need to look good so no one asks me any kinds of questions!”
“Y/N I think you’re overthinking this a bit, just go with whichever dress makes you feel the most beautiful.”
“I think you look the best in the red one, uh personally speaking.” Jay eyes the boy cleaning the other dressing rooms and nods with a tight lipped smile.
“Hmm thanks kids, I’ll keep that in mind.” Pushing back in your eyes fall onto the hanging red dress.
“Alright so let’s talk business, we need a story. You’re the new temp at my job and we just started dating, let’s just say four months ago. You’re crazy about me and I asked you out because surprise surprise I’m also crazy about you too.”
He nods and gets up to leave the room but right as his hand reaches the doorknob you pull him back, closing the dressing room door.
“Here,” you shove an envelope into his hands, “count it. It’s six thousand even.”
Jay takes the envelope and begins putting it into his pocket but you insist he counts the money, he does so with an amused smile flashing across his face.
“I’ll tell you what, I’ll pay for the expenses but if you ever want a piece of this,” he gestures to himself playfully, “we gotta talk money before anything happens.” Your scoff makes him chuckle, he’d only been kidding, he’d most definitely let you have him for free if you asked.
Tumblr media
Jay takes in the venue of your sisters engagement party. It’s big enough to host more than fifty people, and it’s doing the job pretty well. He can tell you have a big family. From what you’d mentioned, your mom was Korean but moved to America for school and originally met your dad their but when he was out the picture she met your stepfather and the rest was history. Now your little sister, presumably the petite brunette eyeing you both now, was getting married to someone you’d both grown up with and his best man was you ex. Jay thinks your ex is a dumbass but he’s held his tongue on that thought knowing you’d probably get upset with him.
While he’d only known you for a few hours tops (not including your plane ride) he knew you were a kind person. You’d rambled to him about how you and your sister hadn’t spoke in two years yet here you were back at home to spend her wedding with her. He found it odd how you said yes to joining her bridal party activities but chose not to question you. He never understood sibling love much.
He watches as your sister runs towards you pulling you into a big hug, her smile never quite reaching her eyes but you’d never pick up on it if you weren’t paying close attention. He takes a note to ask you later why you two haven’t spoken in so long, but before he can gather his thoughts her voice breaks him out of it.
“So Y/N, who’s this? He’s cute…” her voice trails off and makes Jay internally cringe, it’s obvious she wants a reaction out of you.
He watches as you calmly turn towards him, resting an arm on his as you say, “This is Jay, he’s my boyfriend of four months. I decided I would take you up on that plus one offer!”
Momentarily your sisters eyes flash with what seems to be jealousy or maybe sadness, Jay can’t tell but he knows she looks anything but happy which is odd for someone about to marry the love of their life.
“Wow that’s great! How’d you two meet?”
“We met at work. I thought she was the most gorgeous girl I’d ever seen in my life so I told her. She asked me out right after and the rest is history.” He pulls you closer and pecks your temple once he’s done answering. He knows just how to push buttons, especially with people like your sister.
At that very moment Park Sunghoon, your childhood best friend and sisters fiancé walks over pulling Soohee into a sloppy kiss, Jay notes he seems tipsy and excited about something. He watches your sisters demeanor change in an instant the minute Sunghoon walks over.
“Woah Y/N it’s been too long, I’ve missed my best friend, you have to visit more often seriously.”
“Oh I’m Park Sunghoon, Soohee’s fiancé and Y/N’s friend, we haven’t met before but I’m happy to see Y/N has someone to put a smile on her face.” His smile is captivating and contagious. Sunghoon seems like a nice enough guy in Jay’s eyes.
“It’s nice to finally meet you.” Jay leans over and offers a hand. “I’m Jay, Y/N’s boyfriend. She told me you invited me to join in on the groomsmen activities, thanks a lot I’m excited.”
“Of course! Any friend of hers is a friend of mine. Let me get your number and I’ll add you to the groupchat, we start soon so just be ready.” With the promise to text soon Sunghoon and Soohee are quickly whisked away leaving Jay with Y/N.
“Your sister seems…nice…”
Y/N can’t hide her laugh as she straightens her dress out, “Mhm love her to death but she can be a lot, now if you’ll excuse me I need to pee, I’ve had way too many drinks! Wait for me here.”
When exiting the bathroom you never thought you’d run into Lee Heeseung here of all places. It seemed as if lady luck was anywhere but on your side, as you watch him emerge from the door next to the same one you’d just came out of, his eyes grow wide as he spots you, quickly making his way towards you.
“Holy shit, Y/N! I was hoping I would see you here! You look beautiful as always.”
Your hearts beats as you look up towards him. It’d been almost a year since you’d last saw Lee Heeseung. He’d broken your heart in all of five minutes over the phone after spending a week in America with you. It was heart wrenching and soul crushing but you’d healed…or so you thought. Seeing Heeseung again was like ripping off a bandaid on a newly fresh wound. Heart begging to be held by him once more you knew immediately you had to find a way away from him and fast.
Thankfully just as you’d pulled away from his arms up ran your old friend Karina. She’d been someone you’d hung out with in high school and always called you up whenever you visited Seoul. Her squeals of excitement and hands pulling you into a hug helped with the longing to be next to Heeseung again. She looked towards him with hostility and popped the question right there in front of him.
“Y/N I’ve missed you so much! AH! Who’s the hottie you brought with you? Rumor has it he’s your new boyfriend…you tell me though, wanna hear it straight from the source herself.”
At this Heeseung’s head perks up from his previous gaze at the floor. He’s expecting to hear an answer, it’s obvious in the way his eyes stay on you.
“Oh. Um yeah. He’s actually my boyfriend. His name is Jay and we met at work. He’s the sweetest, you have to meet him! I’ll introduce you two soon.” Once again Karina’s squeals fill the air and Heeseung waves goodbye as she tugs you towards where Jay stands surrounded by your aunties. They seem to be enjoying the compliments he throws at them and you laugh quietly as you listen in on his conversations with them.
Jay watches as you stop to talk to someone by the doors of the bathroom, he contemplates walking over to you but decides to stop himself. He isn’t here to protect you, you can do that all on your own, he’s just here to provide some comfort in a stressful situation. His peaceful time of watching you is quickly interrupted when your aunties come over and preoccupy him. He’s done this before and is quick to play the best boyfriend he can be.
As soon as you walk over you’re pulled away by your aunties (much to his dismay) so Jay sets off to find something to keep himself busy. He soon spots the same man you were talking to earlier out on the balcony alone and decides to talk to him, he seems upset, might as well do something while you’re gone.
“Penny for your thoughts?” Jay asks walking over swiftly to the man and smiling down at him.
“Oh. Uh. I guess it can’t get any worse than this. There’s this girl who I care about a lot,” he pauses to look back inside and Jay follows his gazes to where you sit with your sister and friend from before and his mind begins to turn, “I guess you could say I love her but of course with my luck, she’s here with some other guy.”
Jay lets out a low whistle and begins to talk but before he can process the situation you’re asking him if he’s okay and giving him a kiss on the lips, it leaves him dazed.
“Hey Y/N.” Heeseung says once quietly.
“Hey Y/N.” He repeats, this time louder than before.
Jay has a sudden realization as he looks back up at Heeseung, this is your ex, the same ex who broke your heart and the reason you hired him to be here.
“Oh hey Hee! Jay, this is Heeseung, he’s my ex.”
“Ah that’s why you looked a bit familiar.”
“What were you two talking about?”
“We were just-” Heeseung begins to talk but Jay cuts him off.
“I was telling him how we met.”
Heeseung nods frantically and stands tall again, he nervously grabs his cup and smiles, “I should head back inside, I’ll see you two later.”
“Did you see his face? Omg he looked so freaked out!”
“Mhm, and he told me he’s still head over heels in love with a girl he cares about a lot.”
Y/N’s bright smile bubbled up a feeling in Jay’s chest, but he shook it off as quickly as it came.
“Let’s get going pretty girl, I still need to meet your parents.”
Your house is huge, and yeah sure Jay is used to big houses, he grew up comfortably so houses around him were on the bigger side, but this house - your house is massive. He’s in awe as you stumble threw the front door hand in hand. A woman who looks just like you approaches speaking so quickly that Jay misses her question, but thankfully you’re quick to answer it.
“Hi mom. This is Jay,” a silent pause ensues after you reveal who he is to her.
“Well its nice to meet you Jay, sorry we don’t have a spare room for you. We weren’t exactly expecting you, Y/N has never really brought you up.” Jay can tell immediately who your sister takes after.
“No worries ma’am, I can just stay with Y/N.”
“Oh sorry my mom has this thing against boys sleeping with girl-”
Your mothers scoff cuts you off, her head shaking slowly, “Nonsense Y/N, you’re an adult. I know you two sleep together it’s normal, he’ll stay with you.”
You nod back at her wide eyed, and just as you’re about to speak a man pops up next to your mother, this time Jay does know who he is. Your lock-screen holds a picture of you two at a concert and you’d pointed out exactly who your stepfather was to him immediately. He waves a quick hello at Jay and pecks your temple, but he’s quick to whisks your mother away sending you a wink. Once you’ve made it to your room it’s almost midnight and both of you are exhausted from traveling and the party.
“Y/N, I’m gonna go ahead and shower, could you hand me my shampoo? I forgot to grab it and I’m already in.”
“Huh? Oh! Shampoo right…yeah of course I’ll get it right now.” Trudging over to Jay was easy, avoiding looking at the almost see-through shower curtain covering him was completely different. He smiles once you hand over the shampoo and goes back to humming along to a song stuck in his head.
“Hey Jay, what’s your story, like how did you get into rent-a-boyfriend?” You ask him taking a seat on the lid of the toilet.
“Well I’m an only child and my parents where always busy, grew up with very little friends and I was very protected at that. I like to think I was the weird kid who ate glue…anyways once I got my much needed glow up I didn’t know what to do with myself so I just started messing around. Clubbing, drinking, sex, all of that you know. Anyways my friend Jake found rent-a-boyfriend,” he steps out of the shower and stands directly in front of you, towel loosely wrapped around his waist, “and the rest is history.” He sends you a smirk before reaching for his phone sitting next to you on the counter, giving you the perfect view of his toned chest.
“Whatever, so what you just agreed to be a fake boyfriend like that?”
“Mhm, I trust Jake with my life he’s my best friend, dude would never sign me up for something that he knew I’d hate. Now come on it’s time for bed.”
Tumblr media
The next day wedding activities start quickly, your sister has a day planned full for the groomsmen and bridesmaids. Things ranging from kickball (which Jay seems to be very good at and just so happens to beat Heeseung’s team in) to separate bachelor and bachelorette parties.
Both parties go great, with both you and Jay enjoying yourselves equally, but if you’d asked the other you’d both say all you wanted to do was go back home and see each other. It was an odd realization knowing you’d feel better at home with Jay, a mere stranger in your eyes.
“Y/N! Ugh I’ve been looking all over for you! I missed you so much, you really suck for not visiting more. I know we’re half sisters but I love you!! I missed you so freaking much,” Soohee slurs her words into your ear as she pulls you into a suffocating hug. You nod uncomfortably and hug her back, patting her on the back as she signals the bartender for more drinks. Just from the way she stares at you, you know the night is going to be long.
On Jay’s end of things he’s forced to take home a very drunk Sunghoon, who now seems more like a friend then a stranger. Earlier he’d over heard Heeseung telling Sunghoon about how he didn’t trust him, and while normally Jay didn’t care much for how people saw him, Heeseung really irked him. Yet here he was now, helping his best friend stumble home after their night out.
“Don’t tell Heeseung I said this, but Y/N looks way more happy with you then she ever did with him. I mean don’t get me wrong he’s my best friend and I’d literally die for him but the way she smiles at you is so different from any way she’s ever looked at him. I heard you the other day, telling her she was strong and could face everyone again. I was standing next to the door you two were by, anyways yeah Heeseung would have never done that. I love that idiot to death but the second he decided to break things off with her was the second he lost a really great person. You’re lucky Jay, can you just please keep her happy?”
Jay nods at him and Sunghoon sends him a grin, he walks up the steps to his house and waves a final goodbye back to him. Sunghoon’s words play in Jay’s head like a turntable, were you really happy with him? Did he seriously make you happy? Giddiness spread through him as he made his way back to your home only a couple doors down, ready to see you for the night.
Walking back into your bedroom and seeing Jay laid out reading a book half naked was a sight you’d never get tired of. He looked up at you taking in your figure and smiled.
“How was your night pretty?” The low gruffness of his voice sent shivers down your spine as you walked closer, watching as he sat up to meet your eyes.
“Something on your mind?” He asks quietly taking your hands in his.
“I’m going to do something, and if you don’t want it just tell me no, okay?” Jay nods with curiosity in his eyes.
His eyes widen as you straddle his lap, kissing him softly. He wasn’t expecting that, but he’s not complaining, soon enough he’s kissing back and you’re both rushing to undress one another, Jay more than you.
The night ended far too quickly and as you wake up with a snug arm wrapped around you, the memories of last night come flooding back in. You’d had sex with Jay, your rented boyfriend for the week, but it seemed neither of you minded it much, both eager to be together last night. A smile forms across your face as you move to stand only to be stopped by his arm tightening around your waist.
You both stumble downstairs hand in hand, running into both your parents. Your father stares at you two and wishes you a good morning, but your mother seems to sense something is different with you both. She sets down her coffee mug and calls for your cook to make breakfast. Jay is quick to make you your morning tea. He remembers how much you hate coffee.
After the dance class your sister plans for both parties, you’re left walking around a park with Jay. He can sense something is off as you slip your hand away from his grasp.
“Y/N are you okay?”
“Do you regret last night?”
You both speak at the same time, laughing awkwardly as you gesture for one another to speak first.
“I don’t regret last night Y/N,” he pauses to grab your hand, “I actually enjoyed it very much.” His laugh fills the tension filled air between you two.
“Are you sure? I can seriously pay you if that’s what you want I mean-” a tug at your wrist stops you from finishing, Jay shakes his head at you.
“Y/N you’re a beautiful idiot,” he sighs pulling you closer, “I was joking about paying me, and if you must know I’ve never slept with a client, ever.”
“Then why did you sleep with me? Oh god did I take advantage of you in a drunken state? Oh my god Jay.”
“No you idiot, I did it because I’m attracted to you, and you’re attracted to me, we’re two consenting adults who find one another attractive so we acted on it, that’s all.”
You nod at his words, still not fully agreeing with him but there wasn’t any other explanation, you were attracted to him so just as he said, you’d acted on it, that was all.
You two spend the day getting to know one another even more, Jay tells you his likes and dislikes, mother and fathers name, how he met Jake, and more. You spend hours talking before falling asleep cuddled up on your bed, tomorrow you both had to be up early for Soohee’s final days of wedding activities, starting with a nice family get together at your parents lake house.
Tumblr media
What happens the next day is not something Jay ever wanted to deal with. As he watches you twirl around with your friends and run through the field chasing Sunghoon surrounding the lake behind your parents house, his insides churn at the thought of what he just witnessed. Not even an hour before Jay had actually gotten your fathers approval, he sat him down and they talked for an hour, he’d told Jay the story of his first time being introduced to you as his wife’s daughter and immediately knowing you’d be someone special in his life. He recounted how not a day went by where he didn’t worry about you alone in America but when you had showed up with him, Jay, on your arm his worries dwindled at the loving looks Jay sent your way.
This was not fun anymore, the angel and devil perched on his shoulders were fighting over what to do with the information he’d learned. Either he tell you and hurt you, or he could keep it to himself and just pretend he never knew a thing. The latter sounded perfect in his mind.
“And well sometimes we find the best thing for us and you know that’s not the best thing for others, so you have to do what’s best for you as a person you know and so that’s why we as humans always pick what’s best for us, we’re pretty selfish if you think about it really.”
Looking anywhere but Heeseung you’d spotted Jay, he smiled and waved you over, quickly bidding Heeseung and his odd dialogue a goodbye you’d ran straight towards an awaiting Jay.
“You seem to be very popular today Mr.Park. First my dad and just now my mom? Something tells me they like you.”
His chuckle sends butterflies through your stomach, “Yeah they said they’re excited to welcome me to the family, something about you having a terrible ex who wasted your time for four years? Your moms words, not mine.”
“She hates his guts, glad she likes you though.”
He smiles leaning in to peck your lips, “Yeah I’m glad she likes me too, kinda plan on staying for a bit.”
“Hey lovebirds, we’re taking pictures, come here!”
The next day, is the day before the wedding and it’s just as packed as all the other days but this time it’s filled with anxiety, Soohee and Sunghoon are buzzing with anxious excitement, your parents are terrified for tomorrow and everyone is sitting anxiously awaiting to give their toast.
Soohee wanted a closed family rehearsal dinner so they’d decided today would be the day to do it.
Jay sits next to you with his left hand rubbing your thigh, he listens as your mother recounts how you and Soohee fought over a boy when you were in both in grade school, she theorizes that’s why you two have a hard time getting along. Everyone laughs at the stories spewing from both your parents, the atmosphere is almost perfect. Perfect however, does not exist within this realm of people.
“Hey babe, I’m gonna go get more wine, don’t miss me too much.” You whisper to Jay standing and walking off towards the wine cellar.
A pair of footsteps catches your attention and when you turn around you spot Heeseung.
“I feel like I owe you an explanation.”
“Heeseung, relax. It’s fine. I promise.”
“I just feel like I should tell you that, god this is so fucking hard.”
“Did you know, I actually brought Jay to make you jealous, to torture you for the week, but then I don’t know, something happened and now I’m just so freaking happy with him. He makes me so happy honestly, and if we’re being honest Hee, I am so tired of this, of me and you. I’m ready to move on for good so let’s just go back upstairs and enjoy the rest of the evening.”
The weight on your shoulders feels lifted, you’d been wanting to finally feel free from Heeseung for months now and finally you were able to do it. Finally you could be happy and be with-
“I slept with Soohee, Y/n. I slept with your sister and I think I’m in love with her. It was two years ago, I just couldn’t hold it in anymore, that’s why I broke up with you, and then after we broke up we keep sleeping with each other for a few months. We stopped because of you, we knew it was wrong.”
“Can you please say something Y/N. Please just say anything please.” His pleas pierced your ears.
The wine cellar had begun to spin, the second he’d first told you, the room went dark and you couldn’t breathe properly. What the fuck just happened. Heeseung and Soohee slept together? He had cheated on you with your sister? He was in love with her.
Walking out the cellar Heeseung followed quickly behind, soon enough you’d made it back outside to the dinning area, Karina spotted you two and smiled wide but it soon dropped at your demeanor.
“Oh my god he told you didn’t he.”
“You knew?”
“Y/N I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry Y/N.”
“You sound just like him.”
“I promise it’s not like that Y/N-“
“Y/N?” Soohee’s voice pierces through the air around you and you know she knows what’s happening.
“Y/N please listen to me,” she tries resting her hand on your shoulder but you push her off, “Y/N please don’t say anything to Sunghoon. Please, I’m begging you.”
Strong arms pull you into them and you’re quick to hug him back. Jay feels like a breath of fresh air in the seemingly smog filled venue.
“I can’t believe you told her!” Soohee shouts as Jay stills in your arms and your world crashes all over again.
Jay watches as you take a step away from him, pushing him towards the others who’d betrayed your trust. His heart aches at the look you send him, he knows he’s fucked up, he’s fucked up really bad.
He chases after you as you walk away from the venue, he needs to make things right.
After the talk with your dad, Jay realized he’d forgotten the sun hat you’d asked him to bring outside for you so he trudged back inside to grab it but loud arguing distracted him. Being the gentleman he was, Jake liked to call him that at least, he walked over to the room to see what was happening and standing before him he saw Soohee and Heeseung. The arguing continued as he stepped into view of them.
“I love you Soohee, I miss us, I miss you.”
“Heeseung no. I love Sunghoon, we slept together for a few months but that is all it ever was. I am getting married to Sunghoon, your best friend.”
“You don’t think I know that? It kills me to see you with him!”
Jay is left speechless, your ex Heeseung and your very own sister, had slept together. He had to get away from them both, now.
“Jay? How long have you been standing there.” Soohee’s voice broke him out his thoughts and when he looked back up Heeseung was gone.
“I don’t know what you heard but it’s in the past Jay, it’s not important anymore, please just stay out of it, it doesn’t involve you.” She pushes past him out the door he’s standing next to. Jay is left wondering what to do with the information he’s just been presented..
“You knew and you didn’t tell me? How could you do that to me Jay?”
“What did you want me to say? It’s harder than it seems Y/N.”
“You lied to me. But I guess I should have expected that since that’s what you do. That’s who you are Jay, you’re a liar.”
“Really Y/N? Should I remind you that you hired me. You hired me to be your boyfriend, you’re paying me.”
“You’re right. I paid six thousand dollars for a lie and in the end I’m the only one coming out a fucking fool.”
“Hate me all you want Y/N, but it’s time you get over this Heeseung thing, you’re dragging it out, maybe now though, once you move on from Heeseung, you can cry over our relationship long enough and let it ruin your next one too.”
Tumblr media
“Y/N? I came to say thank you for not outing me to Sunghoon today. I’m going to tell him, I just don’t want to tell him the night before our wedding.”
“You’re smart Soohee, telling him after the wedding allows you to trap him, because you know the minute he finds out you fucked his best friend repeatedly behind his back he’ll want to leave, but he won’t be able to because he’s married to you.”
“Don’t worry Soohee, your wedding tomorrow will be perfect. I’ll smile for the camera and keep my mouth shut but after tomorrow I never want to see or speak to you again. I hope you have a happy marriage built on the lies you created. Sunghoon deserves better then you’ll ever be able to give him.” Soohee’s quiet sobs lessen as she leaves the room. Finally you had some peace.
The day of the wedding felt like a blur, you’d woken up early to get your hair and makeup done, smiling when needed and laughing at whatever the bridal party said. It felt like you were a shell of nothing in your own body. Soohee tossed glance after glance at you, looking away quickly when you’d catch her. She’d never been one to like when people were upset with her and you knew it was driving her crazy to not know what you were thinking. Truth be told at any moment you could call up Sunghoon and tell him the truth, but a voice of reason seemed to still be lingering in your mind and it made you hope she’d do the right thing, tell him before the wedding continued, yet so far it didn’t seem like she’d be doing that.
Everyone rushed around the wedding chapel to get things in order, photographers and other vendors Soohee had hired ran around finding their places to make sure the day went as planned but the nerves in her stomach just wouldn’t go away. The echo of your words rattled in her mind, would she really be trapping Sunghoon? She knew if it were her, she’d want an out. She cursed you in her head as she made the decision to do the right thing, he deserved to know at least. Hopefully he’d be able to forgive her, hopefully he still wanted her.
Jay thinks whatever god is looking down on him right now is probably laughing his ass off at his suffering. He knows he shouldn’t have snapped back at you, especially not with the state of mind you had been in. It fucking broke him to hear your sobs as he turned away from you. On top of all that, now he was just going to up and leave you. He’d bought a plane ticket back home last night after talking to Sunghoon. He didn’t spill any descriptive details, and had told him a less intense version of your fight. Sunghoon laughed in his face and told him he was just in love. Jay told him to fuck off and shut up.
As he drove down the roads of the rural Korean countryside, thoughts filled his mind. He brought the car to a stop and contemplated what to do. On one hand, he had a plane ticket and his suitcases packed to go back home right now but on the other, all he had to do was turn around, pray you’d forgive him, apologize, and admit that Sunghoon was right.
Pulling him from his thoughts was the man himself, speak of the devil and he shall appear apparently. Jay looked up to find Sunghoon chasing after a very scared looking Heeseung. Someone had finally told him then, that was good. He watched as Sunghoon tackled Heeseung and they rolled down a hill. Heeseung escaped and continued running, never looking back. Sunghoon on the other hand stopped to catch his breath, catching sight of Jay in his car. He waved him down and hopped into the seat next to him.
“I love Soohee, I really do. I’m going to forgive her, she said they slept together before we officially got together and it stopped once I asked her out. I just wanted to beat his ass because he hurt Y/N.”
Jay nodded as Sunghoon rambled on about how insane Heeseung was for ever doing what he did to you. He blamed them both but he could only poor his anger out on Heeseung right now.
“Do you think I’m crazy for taking her back? For still wanting to marry her?”
“No, you love her, anyone can see. I think she’s obviously sorry, she could have not told you and just made you marry her but she gave you a choice and came clean. When you love someone you have that kind of courage, and you let others dictate your life for you even if one of the outcomes could ruin you forever.” As Jay spoke aloud to Sunghoon reality set in, he needed to go back to you, to apologize for his mistakes, to show you he loved you and accepted you and anything you decided he was worthy of having.
“Looks like we’ve got a wedding to go back to then, and I’m out a best man so what do ya say?”
Jay smiled and nodded at Sunghoon.
“Hell yeah man, let’s go.”
Tumblr media
Seeing you again felt surreal, it made Jay’s heart beat a million times per minute. You looked gorgeous in the bridesmaids dress Soohee had picked for you, your hair beautifully styled to perfectly match you. Jay had never felt this happy, he’d never felt so excited to do something.
As Sunghoon had ran past you, Jay jogged up to you, pulling you into a kiss, he’d been wanting to kiss you again for so long, he melted within the first second of it.
“God Y/N, you have no idea how fucking sorry I am, I love you and I should have told you about Heeseung and Soohee, I just couldn’t bring myself to break your heart. I never want to be the one to hurt you, I love you so damn much, I’d rather give you up then hurt you. I know it hasn’t been long but I feel like we’ve known each other for years. I want to take you on a date, a real one, and I want to be your boyfriend, your real boyfriend, not one you rented for a week, and I need you to know that I’ll take anything you want to give me, I didn’t mean what I said yesterday, you didn’t ruin anything. Hell I’m the one ruining things. I just need you to know I care about you.”
“I realized today that I could never do what I did without you this past week. You are quite literally the best fake boyfriend anyone could ask for. I want to have you to myself Jay, don’t want to share you with anyone else, I’m done sharing. I want you to be mine, but really mine, not for a week, for a lifetime.”
“Glad we’re on the same page beautiful. We can talk more when we have the time but right now we have to head inside, I’m sorta the best man.”
Tumblr media
Epilogue
Jay has you pressed against his kitchen counter attacking your neck when banging on his apartment door brings you both out of the lovestruck trance you’re currently in.
“Open up you fucker!”
Jay rolls his eyes at the voice clearly recognizing it immediately, but as he goes to open the door it flies open, hitting the back wall.
“Why’d you quit rent-a-boyfriend? Bro you were literally number one! I know I said I wanted to steal it from you but I didn’t mean that way idiot.”
“You can ask her why I deleted it.” He replies, pointing towards your direction.
Now standing and properly dressed, you wave at the man before you, he seems just as confused as you are.
“Pretty girl, this is my best friend Jake, and Jake this is my girlfriend Y/N.” A smile spreads across Jake’s face and he’s quick to pull you into a hug.
“Oh dude! You should have just said that! I see why now, what a dog! She’s way to pretty for you by the way.”
“Thanks Jake, I know I am but he’s a good kisser so I keep him around.”
“I like her already! Wanna go get some lunch? On me of course to celebrate you finding a girl who actually likes you and isn’t paying you to date her.”
“Deal, but just so you know, I did pay him to date me. Not anymore though.”
Jake’s mouth hangs open as you walk past him to grab your shoes, he’s astonished that someone as gorgeous as you needed to pay for a date. Jay sends him a look and promises to explain at lunch as he chases after you.
Jake would never admit it out loud but he’s happy Jay’s finally found someone to make him happy and the smile on your faces just shows him how right you are for one another.
Three years later he’s proven right as he opens up the envelope addressed to him. It’s an invitation that reads –
“You are happily invited to the wedding of Jay Park and Y/N L/N on the 31st of October, at three o’clock. Please join them for this amazing celebration!”

Crazy idea/request can you do one where the Easily in dangeres Reader(Imp! Female) x Vox came back home injured and all of the 3 Vee's who is sitting in the couch react to Reader(Female) saying "I cross the road on my own for once! Yey...! Ouch..." With a lot of bruises on them and even have a cast on here right leg
Reader's Weakness: Doesn't/Can't cross roads alone
A/N: I really want a cookie...
Word count: 800 Warnings: none
Vox x Unlucky!Imp!F!Reader
“Y/N. I really think you should just let someone else grab it for you. You know we have plenty of staff to do our bidding, just say the word and they’ll be back before you know it.” Vox suggested, though it was evident that he insisted. “Or we can get it delivered!” You roll your eyes at him.
“Vox. I can go and get the food just fine by myself!” You insisted, “I’m literally born here and I feel like it’s been forever since I went out!” You crossed your arms. Your tail whipped side to side in irritation.
He sighed in frustration and glanced over to Velvette for help. “Look, darling.” She said, “The last time you went out with an escort they ended up getting so badly injured they couldn’t go to work for 6 months.”
You raised your arms up in defense, “It wasn’t my fault someone was speeding down the street!”
“They got hit by a car and they got their asses beat because you walked into a turf war.”
“...Well they should’ve made it more obvious they were in one.”
“There were explosions and gunshots that you failed to hear.” She groaned. “Look, it’s not like we’re keeping you here trapped. You can get plenty of fresh hell air on the sidewalk. “I want to go on a walk. Stretch my legs somewhere else that isn’t here.” You protested.
“Look! How about I just go with you, babe?” Vox suggested. You perked up and looked at him, beaming with delight.
“Really?” You squealed.
“Yes. But please stay by my side.” He squinted at you knowing that you had a tendency to run off somewhere.
“I promise!”
You did not keep your promise. The two of you weren’t even out for that long and Vox had already lost sight of you somehow in the bakery. The bakery isn't big at all but you were nowhere to be seen. He panicked and ran out to look for you, lo and behold you were making direct eye contact with the pet store across the street.
“Y/N! I told you to stay by my side!” He yelled out. His eyes widened when he realized you were going to cross the street. He zapped over behind you but he couldn’t reach you in time. He turned and there was a car going straight towards you as you, unaware as ever, kept walking.
.
“Y/N what the fuck.” Velvette flatly stated, staring in disbelief at the cast on your leg. You nervously laugh and scratch the back of your head.
“I’m fine!” You lied, “Just a minor injury, nothing big.”
“Babe.” Vox groaned, head in his hands. If he had hair it would be white from the amount of stress you constantly put him in.
“I crossed the road! On my own!” You gave a nervous smile, standing proud and tall with your hands on your hips. Your crutches fell and one of them hit the cast, making you wince. “Ow…Okay maybe I’m not as fine as I can be.” You sat down, “But I crossed the road on my own and survived!”
“You barely survived. If I didn’t fly you to the hospital, your leg would probably be gone by now.” Valentino lets out a puff of smoke, stress smoking at this point.
“Hey! I said I crossed the street and survived. I never said without injuries. I looked both ways this time and I promise you, on my soul, there weren’t any cars coming.” You huffed. “That car literally popped out of nowhere!”
“Y/N if you weren’t covered in bruises looking absolutely pathetic I would have punched you by now.” Velvette glared at you.
The room was silent but their judging eyes and stressed out expressions were loud enough for you to curl up into the best ball of shame you could curl up into. “Maybe I should have gotten it delivered…”
“You think?” Vox groaned, “If you were just some random imp working for me I would have killed you myself. You’re lucky I love you.” He sat next to you and held an ice pack on one of your bigger bruises.
“So…Cookies, anyone?” You awkwardly asked.
“If Vox didn’t care about you so damn much I would’ve killed you myself too.” She turned and headed straight for the door, “I’m going to get a fucking drink. If I find a single strand of white hair on my head, I’m coming straight for you.”
You laughed nervously as she slammed the door behind her and glanced at Valentino.
“Yeah I’m gonna get a fucking drink too.” Valentino lit another cigarette and walked out the door.
You looked at Vox with sad puppy eyes to which he sighs in response. “I’ll take a god damn cookie.”

Tears
“Link!” Penn exclaimed, wings outstretched in excitement. “What a great sense for news you have! Here I am chasing a new lead on the Princess and my partner appears before my eyes!”
Link hadn’t seen Penn since they finished chasing all the leads they had on the Princess’ whereabouts. It was at least a month since they went from stable to stable, Link almost believing the Yiga’s tricks and getting barely a wink of sleep until all twelve were dead ends. He was left just as lost as when he started until he found Impa and sunk himself into the mysterious geoglyphs that dotted the land. Link hadn’t yet found the courage to admit to anyone the truth about Zelda, so he pretended the best he could to be the eager, young reporter Penn knew him as.
“I’ve heard that Zelda has a homestead here in Hateno,” he continued. “Villagers tell me it’s across this bridge, but I’m afraid I’m at a standstill. You see, investigating her home for clues seems to go against my morals as a journalist. This may have to be a story we leave be.”
It was public knowledge that Princess Zelda lived in Hateno. That was no news story.
“What’s the lead?” Link asked. “Was she seen here recently? S-since her disappearance I mean.”
“It may be hearsay but rumors have been circulating that the Princess is married,” Penn said. “The villagers here have no idea what I’m talking about, so I’m thinking it’s no more than gossip. Traysi wanted me to check it out nonetheless. I’m thinking we at least find the may–”
Link averted his tear-filled gaze.
“Link, are you all right?”
“I…I’m fine,” he stammered. “Just…allergies.”
“Where,” he began weakly, but forced his voice to be stronger. “Where does the lead come from?”
“An old Zora at the Domain,” Penn answered. “He’s losing his memory but tends to spout some random things about his long life in an effort to keep a grasp on it. His niece heard him talking about marrying the Princess to someone, but he didn’t specify who. She was so excited about the prospect that she sent word to Traysi.”
Link looked notably nervous as he hugged his arms close.
“Don’t…don’t run the story,” he said in a hushed voice, no longer meeting Penn’s gaze at all.
Penn looked confused.
“Link…what do you mean? Do you know something?”
“It just…it paints her in a bad light.”
“Link, I know you care about the princess’ public reputation. Your work at the paper honors that gleamingly. Your search for the absolute truth is inspiring to the whole team. You service our kingdom and our princess well.”
Link steadied his nerves with a deep breath and a slow blink of his eyes.
“It was me,” he admitted, quietly at first.
Penn blinked, shocked. He assumed he heard wrong.
“What?”
“It was me!” Link finally burst out pointing at himself. “All of it, everything. The mysterious hero who came out of nowhere and saved Hyrule from the calamity, me. I brought Zelda here and we built a life, and it was a good life. I married her because I loved her. We didn’t tell anyone because goddesses the Yiga were trailing her everywhere and everyone was looking at her to rebuild but I guess it doesn’t matter anymore because she’s gone, okay? She’s gone! That’s it, that’s your story. She’s a magic, floating dragon in the skies because I failed her again. She sacrificed herself for this kingdom and no one will ever know because there’s no proof! Nothing! No one else sees the dragons but me, so that’s what I have for you, absolutely nothing! I have nothing!”
Link panted and Penn stared. He blinked his eyes once, twice. Link expected him to call him crazy. Instead, he pointed his white-feathered wing at the house across the bridge.
“That’s your house?”
Link’s disbelief was shown in his face.
“Yes.”
Penn looked at the house for a moment, letting the breeze sift through his feathers.
“Link I think in a time like this Hyrule would quite like to hear a story like this about their Princess,” Penn said. “I don’t think your story paints her in a bad light in the slightest. In fact, it may be the heartwarming tale people need right now.”
Link’s gaze angled down and pondered the suggestion.
“And no, they won’t believe that she’s turned into a dragon,” Penn continued. “But they will believe as I do how much you loved her, and how she must have loved you.”
Link nodded.
“If you don’t mind I’d like to interview you,” Penn admitted. “In the house you built together. You’ll get final approval of the story I send to Traysi.”
Link looked up and over at the house. It felt like he hadn't been there in ages, like it was a lifetime ago that he went in scouring for clues, hoping she'd just be around the next corner. Waiting for her was like waiting for a sunrise that would never come.
“No, I don’t mind.”

I Cat Help Falling In Love With You (L.M)
Warnings: Pure Fluff! Little suggestive at the end but not much!
Word Count: 1498
Let Me Know What You Think!
Tumblr media
You were absolutely exhausted. You had woke up feeling tired despite sleeping well, and work ended up being insanely busy compared to normal. Walking up to your apartment, you wanted nothing more than to get changed into something comfortable and settle in on the couch for the night with your cats and something on the tv. Maybe even order some takeout so you didn’t have to cook.
Opening the door to your apartment, you were expected to be swarmed by your cats, vying for your attention after leaving them alone all day.
“Hi babies, I’m ho-“ you cut yourself off as you turned around after licking your door, realizing they were nowhere to be seen. Usually they came running when they heard the door.
“Huh? That’s weird. Arlo? Babies?” You ask, rounding the corner into the living room. You immediately realized why they hadn’t come running. Your best friend Minho had come over using the key you gave him to get in and was giving the three of them all of his attention and love, distracting them from the fact you were home. Your heart warmed as you saw him lean down to kiss your orange tabby, Arlo, on the head.
“Ahhh so you’re the reason my cats didn’t come swarm me” you told him, giving as much of a chuckle you could muster while so tired.
“Hey, I can’t help the fact that they love me so much” he smiles, not taking his eyes off the three cats rubbing on him and head butting him. Your black cat Jasper was on one side, your fluffy black and white one Kuja on the other, and Arlo was curled up on his lap, purring away at the pets and kisses he got from Minho.
“That’s true I suppose. You know I’m still surprised he loves you so much, he usually isn’t that fond of men, especially around me” you tell him, referring to the orange cat in his lap who’s looking up at him lovingly.
“Is he really?” He asks, looking over at you finally with a bit of surprise. He shows a little more surprise taking in how tired you look.
“Oh yeah, even my dad he was weary about for the longest time. He’s very protective of me. So he must really like and trust you” you say as you sit next to him on the couch with a slight smile, resting your head on his shoulder. You weren’t sure what it was, but lately you just felt more comfortable with him than usual. Hence why he had a key to your place. You knew he missed his cats sometimes and couldn’t always see them, and you’d been friends for so long and you trusted him so it just felt right giving him a key so he could come see them and you whenever.
“Well I’m honored in that case” he chuckles, smiling down at you while putting his arm around your shoulders “However, I can’t help but notice you look exhausted. You want to talk about it?” He asks.
You sigh, leaning into him a little more. “Nothing all that bad happened, I just woke up feeling tired and then things were crazy busy at work, which didn’t help. So I’m just really worn out is all” you say as you pet Arlo who crawls into your lap now that you’re sitting down.
He frowns a little, rubbing your shoulder as he looks at you “I guess it’s a good thing I’m here then” he says
“What?” You ask, looking at him in confusion.
He smiles before pulling away slightly “If your day has been that bad, it’s a good thing I’m here” he says as he stands, offering a hand to help you up. “Now, I’m going to go make you something to eat because I know you, and you need something better than that take out you were going to order” he says smirking at you.
“I was not going to-“ you try to lie before he cuts you off.
“Yes you were, I know you” he laughs “I’m going to go make you some food, you go get cleaned up and comfortable, and we’ll relax, okay?” He says as he tucks a strand of your hair behind your ear.
You close your eyes briefly, enjoying his gentle touch before smiling at him whispering to him “okay, that sounds nice.”
He doesn’t pull away immediately, causing you to blush a little before he finally pulls away and heads to your kitchen to start cooking. You watch him with a fond smile before heading into your room to change.
While you’re getting cleaned up, your mind is running. Since when did Minho make you feel so warm and fuzzy inside? Had you always felt so at peace when you’re with him? And that feeling when he touched you to tuck your hair? As you look in the mirror while finished up, you see the blush and giddy smile on your face and it hits you… you’ve fallen for your best friend. You can only hope he feels the same if you tell him.
As you walked out to find Minho, you can’t help but stand and smile, your feelings for him all but confirmed at the sight. He’s standing in your kitchen cooking dinner for you both while looking up to Kuja, who’s laying on top of the cabinets, talking to him while he cooks. You can’t help but melt a little watching them. It also gives you the courage to tell him how you feel.
You quietly walk over to the kitchen, taking a deep breath before approaching him and silently wrapping your arms around him in a hug from behind. You sigh, relaxing into his warm back, taking in the smell that is uniquely Minho.
He jumps slightly, not having heard you approach while he was distracted by your cats and cooking, before relaxing again, letting out a small chuckle. “Well hi there. Everything okay?” He asks.
“Yeah, everything’s good. I have to tell you something though, and I’m not sure how you’re going to take it” you tell him, the slight hint of nerves tinging your voice.
Minho immediately notices this and turns off the stove and proves the pan to a different burner before turning around in your arms. He looks down at you, concern showing on his face as he brings his hand to your chin, tilting it up to look you in the eyes.
“What’s the matter y/n? Is something wrong”
“No no, nothings wrong just” you take a deep breath “I love you Minho” you tell him, looking into his eyes.
“What?” He asks, eyes full of surprise at your admission.
“I understand if you don’t feel the same for me. But I realized how I felt and it felt wrong not to tell you” you tell him trying to tilt your eyes down in case he rejects you. He doesn’t let you though.
“No no, you just caught he off guard a little” he laughs, as a smile breaks out on his face “I love you too. I have for awhile, but I didn’t want to risk messing anything up with you. Or the cats” he jokes, causing you to laugh.
“You love me too?” You ask, looking at him with warmth and love on full display.
“I do. I couldn’t help falling in love with you” he smiles down at you, tucking a strand of your hair behind your ear again. “Can I kiss you now? I’ve been dying to for ages” He asks, one of his mischievous smirks playing on his lips.
“Please do” you say, leaning in to meet his lips. His kiss is more gentle than you expected it would be at first, but you can feel all the passion and emotions he’s trying to convey through it as one of his hands comes come to cradle the side of your face and neck, working with his arm around your lower back to pull you closer.
You hum into the kiss, sliding with of your hands up to tangle in his hair at the nape of the neck, pulling slightly, causing him to let out the most beautiful groan into the kiss. You pull away for a second to catch your breath, looking up at him.
“What about dinner?” You ask, still breathing slightly heavily.
He smirks at you again, a dangerous look in his eye as he responds “Dinner can wait, I’ll finish it for us later. Right now we’ve got some lost time to make up on” he says, before unexpectedly reaching to pick you up and heading to your bedroom. “If you don’t mind that is?” He asks, pausing near your door.
“Hmmm I suppose dinner can wait” you say in a teasing voice, causing him to glare at you and smack your ass before carrying you into your room, kissing you.
Maybe today wasn’t so bad after all.

[NCT] SUNGCHAN - ATTENTION
☆ Sungchan x short, female reader ☆ mature - soft love-making, very fluffy, lots of kissing, fingering (f receiving), unprotected sex ☆ 2.7k words ☆ Sungchan needing your full, undivided attention after not seeing each other for a long time.
Tumblr media
Your eyes traveled up his body until your gaze locked with his, a confused expression meeting a mischievous one as an arm pressed against the wall, caging you. You leaned back against the wall and tried not to focus on the way your very tall boyfriend leaning and towering over you immediately made your heart race.
“What’s up?”
You could see from your peripheral vision as his arm flexed when he leaned closer to you, his breath fanning your lips. You forced yourself to keep your head straight on his face instead of looking down along the line of his neck and collarbones, or turn right to his arm and hand.
“I feel like you haven’t been paying much attention to me,” he stated, like it definitely explained why he decided to trap you against the wall out of nowhere.
“I just spent this whole day with you…?” You pointed out, conveniently ignoring the bigger issue for now. That is, the question of how long had it been since you could spend time together – just the two of you, in private.
Apparently you couldn’t get away with it because you could feel his breath tickling your neck with his next words, “Not enough.”
His voice sounded like he was pouting and when his lips pressed against your skin, his kisses felt almost angry. You ignored the tingles running through your body to prod a bit more at his mood.
“I thought you had fun too?”
His next breath was an exasperated sigh, then he bit down on your neck. You gasped, then giggled when you caught his glare. “I had fun…”
“But?”
“You barely paid attention to me.”
“That’s not true!” It’s not even simply not true, it’s the most ridiculous accusation he could have ever come up with, because you were fairly sure that it’s impossible for you to take your eyes off of him. You couldn’t do it even if you wanted to.
“You kept getting distracted by the food at the restaurant, your mom had to call you right now, and did you really have to talk so much to those guys?”
“You mean your friends?” You inserted when you caught him saying absolute nonsense.
But of course, that didn’t mean he would admit defeat. “Whatever, I just want my girlfriend’s full attention on me, is that too much to ask?”
“Do you?” You raised a brow at him. “And which one of us was too busy to meet up even for a sleepover?” There it was, the heart of the matter. Maybe he wouldn’t have gotten so annoyed about every minor disturbance if it hadn’t been so long since the two of you had spent time together. You understood his frustration completely but that didn’t mean you would let him be unreasonable and make this out to be your fault instead.
Sungchan looked like he just remembered this fact and suddenly understood where his feelings came from. Then he gave you a quick kiss that was half an apology, half because he just really wanted to kiss you. “...That’s different.”
“You’re such a baby,” you laughed, rolling your eyes at him fondly.
“I’m not a baby, what else am I supposed to do? I missed you so much I thought I would go crazy…”
“Baby,” you repeated the word, just to see him pout, “Do you think I didn’t miss you just as much?” You grabbed the front of his sleeveless shirt and used it to pull him closer and keep yourself steady as you stood on tiptoes. “I promise all my attention is on you now, so why don’t you enjoy it instead of complaining?”
With that, you connected your lips with his yourself. Sungchan’s hands immediately came up to your waist so he could support you, and your back pressed flush against the wall when he kissed you back. He slowly took over the control and set his own pace, turning the kiss more and more heated. You parted your lips readily when you felt his tongue asking for entrance, and clung to his shirt with a bit more force when you felt your knees go weak from his kiss.
He whined when you had to pull away for air and if you had any energy, you would have probably rolled your eyes at his neediness too.
“Carry me to bed if you want my attention so bad,” you suggested when you regained your ability to think straight and speak words.
Sungchan didn’t hesitate to reach under your thighs and pick you up after you wrapped your arms around his neck. However, when he pressed you against the wall again so he could adjust you in his arms, he seemed to hesitate for a moment. His lips once again found yours, less intensely but with more longing.
“Bed, please,” you reminded him when he parted for a second, using the position to kiss the tip of his nose and snap him out of his thoughts.
He hummed and crossed the distance between the wall and the bed while you filed away his obviously lingering wish for wall sex for the next time. For tonight, he asked for your attention, so that’s what he would receive.
“Better?” He asked when he sat down on the edge of the bed with you sitting in his lap, straddling him. This was probably the position that the both of you liked the most, and you couldn’t even count the amount of times the two of you made out like this. Sungchan loved the way you fit on his lap and in his arms perfectly, and you loved being in a position where you had perfect reach of your boyfriend to do anything you wanted.
“Yes, thank you,” you muttered against the skin right below his ear, and wasted no time to press a line of kisses down his jawline and neck. Your hands hung off of his shoulder and traced lazy patterns on his back while listening to Sungchan sigh and moan when you sucked on his skin at the right spots. His posture gradually relaxed, and you could feel that he was a lot less tense and frustrated now. You moved to kiss the other side of his neck too, pulling your hands back to run your fingers down his toned arms. Sungchan shuddered at the sudden touch and gripped your waist a little tighter before relaxing again into your soft caresses.
You only pulled back when you made sure that there was no exposed part of him unkissed and gave him a smile, “Better?”
“More,” he replied something between a hum and a whine, vaguely meaning that he liked your attention and needed more of it.
You complied without a problem, finding the hem of his shirt and sneaking your hands to touch him under it while leaning in to kiss him. You were in no hurry to undress him. You made sure to leave as many light, teasing touches as you could before he got fed up and felt like he would rather give up on kissing in favor of pulling the shirt over his head.
He smirked at you when you dropped his shirt to the floor, and because he usually failed to filter his thoughts, he asked, “Like what you see?”
You suppressed both the exasperated sigh and the eyeroll as best as you could, not because you didn’t like what you were seeing, of course, but because why would he ask this (again). Instead, you opted for a slight shake of your head and while he was distracted, pushed him down on the bed by his shoulders.
“I like it better from this angle,” you said, hands on either side of his head, and feeling very satisfied with the shocked expression he was wearing. It only lasted for a moment, though, before he wrapped one arm completely around your waist and used the other to press your back down, so you were lying on top of him.
“That’s fair.” You felt his lips curl against the skin of your neck, and felt the hand on your waist grab at the hem of your top then pull it up until he successfully peeled it off of you. He brushed your hair out of the way first to try and fail to unclasp your bra with one hand.
“Do you need help?” you giggled at his frown but maybe this just motivated him because the next moment, you felt the undergarment loosen on your chest and slip off your shoulders.
“I can manage,” he replied in a light, teasing voice while pulling the bra completely off of you, throwing it aside and using his left hand to cup your breast. A moan escaped you at the feeling, your body losing a bit of its strength as you rested on top of him. Sungchan’s free hand followed the line on your back all the way down to the waistband of your pants, and went around to find the button and the zipper on your jeans. He undid them with considerably more ease than your bra, and he made sure to squeeze your ass in the process of pulling the pants down to your thighs.
Most unfortunately, these jeans were kind of tight so it wasn’t that easy to get them off.
“You’re not very good at this today, huh?” you teased, just to pour salt to the wound.
The result was a very sudden shift in position. In the blink of an eye, you found yourself pressed to the bed, tight jeans off of your legs and a pair of lips pressing against yours, demanding you to shut up. You moaned into the kiss and raked your fingers through his hair to soothe him a bit but it was little to no use. Even though the kiss turned less spiteful and more gentle, Sungchan was already planning his next move.
He pulled away exactly at that moment when his hand touched your soaked panties, rubbing your core through the fabric. Seeing you squeeze your eyes shut and gasp in pleasure at his touch was exactly the reaction he wanted to see, and the proud smile was evident on his face. His fingers circled around your hole, magnifying just how annoying that piece of underwear was at the moment, when all you wanted was to feel his touch directly.
“So, do you think I can take these off or today is really just not my day?”
Panic flashed in your eyes for only a moment before you realized that he wouldn’t be able to contain himself anyway, so you didn’t need to worry too much. Still, to get what you wanted faster, you decided to take on a better attitude and put in a few nice words for him. “Of course, you can do it,” you smiled up at him innocently, “you’re my talented boyfriend who’s good at everything, especially at treating me well in bed.”
“Can’t you sound a bit more sincere?” he sighed, looking somewhat disappointed and leaning down for another kiss. It felt like he wanted to get the words out of your mouth directly this way, his lips moving slowly but passionately against yours.
Your heart immediately softened at this, and the often difficult sincerity trickled out like water. “Sorry,” you said quietly, “please take off my panties, I want to feel you.”
Another kiss fell onto your lips while Sungchan finally tugged down the panties and let his fingers rub between your folds without obstruction. You moaned into the kiss, your hips instinctively twitching to feel him closer. Sungchan didn’t tease you long before he slipped two long fingers inside you. You gasped at the sensation, breaking the kiss for a moment but there wasn’t much time to catch your breath before you got pulled into another kiss.
Your lips and your tongues moved in a slow, sensual rhythm while Sungchan moved his fingers and rubbed your clit with his thumb in a similar tempo. Your eyes were completely shut, you trusted yourself entirely to your boyfriend. Your only thought was to enjoy every single touch he gave you.
However, when those touches started to slow down and came to a stop, you had to open your eyes to give him a questioning look. One glance at his dark eyes and you already realized what the problem was, and you mentally scolded yourself for letting him distract you when tonight was supposed to be all about you giving him more attention.
“Come here, baby.” You held out your hands toward him, voice sounding a bit lower than usual due to the pleasure. He hovered closer, just enough for you to reach his pants and start undoing the button. You failed to bite back a smile when you pulled his pants off with much more ease than him, but you already promised not to tease him anymore.
You were very careful when you got to his boxers, pulling them down slowly. You intended to be gentle at first but it was probably more torturous for him instead – nonetheless, you always undressed him this way when he let you.
Sungchan liked when you touched his cock, he liked watching you being so focused on him, especially a part of him that was only for you to see and touch. He enjoyed the way your hand wrapped around his length, stroking it with attention to every single groan and sigh he let out, and pleasing him according to it.
It didn’t take long before he moved to position himself in front of your entrance and glance at you for permission. You replied with a soft smile and he pushed inside you slowly. You moaned at the sensation of being filled up and took a second to just breathe when he fit himself into you fully.
Sungchan groaned when he felt your walls clench around him, and he shot you a slightly urgent look.
“You can start moving,” you told him, and his expression changed to completely focused as he started rolling his hips against yours.
He started with slow movements – he always did – and you could feel that he wanted to be gentle with you too, especially since it’s been a while since the two of you had a chance to be intimate and share your love like this. But exactly because it’s been so long and he missed you so much, it didn’t take long before he lost control over himself. His pace turned rough and fast, and he buried his face in the crook of your neck to press a kiss there and mutter apologies whenever your voice sounded with more pain than pleasure.
You didn’t really mind it, though. You clung to his back and encouraged him until you felt yourself getting closer to your high.
“Sungchan… I’m close,” you informed him in a breathless voice but you knew he heard you. He made more effort to repeatedly hit you on your most sensitive spot and raised his head in anticipation to watch the exact moment when your face contorted with pleasure.
He buried his head back into your neck afterwards, pushing inside you a few more times until he also came with a groan. His whole body lost strength afterwards, squishing you a bit under his weight and you knew that neither of you would get up for a while.
You craned your neck as best as you could to see his expression; closed eyes and rosy cheeks resting on your shoulder as if he could fall asleep any second. You chuckled at the sight, combing your fingers through his hair and calling out to him, “Baby… Bambi… Sungchan…”
Your only response was a whine that could be translated to “please, just let me stay like this for a moment.” So you let him, making sure that he wouldn’t fall asleep before cleaning up and changing into comfortable clothes. You were sure that after this, he would not let you out of his arms for at least a day.

season 19 was a let down 😭😭
spoilers below!
i’m sure that over a year of hype doesn’t help my case here but i really was expecting something a little better 😭
i don’t mean to be too much of a critic in this post and sorry if i seem like i’m complaining but man 🧍‍♂️ full review here we go
sarges death was expected and the character arc that simmons got from it was pretty well done , he was cool — sarges death did just seem kind of rushed but that’s probably also time constraints , nobody seemed super affected by it tho and that kinda put me off ☹️ sure the reds were like Sad right after he died , and grif + simmons had the moment at his grave, but it’s literally not brought up again ? simmons just gets to be a leader kinda and tucker doesn’t get told he killed sarge, nobody else brings it up after the climax?? not even during the climax as they fight meta again ?
^ although sarges final moments were done very nicely and the va’s had a ton of emotion ❤️
along with that, wash’s acting was amazing as always
grif was characterized really weirdly throughout the first half of the season - i’m guessing they tried to make him the “straight man” of the group but it kinda fell flat because he just seemed irrationally angry every single time he spoke 😭 he kinda evened out as it went on tho so that’s better than nothing
Simmons was very kind this season that was interesting and cool He didn’t have a care in the world
animation was wonky at times but it was there - fight scenes weren’t monty oum style of crazy but they were creative with them and ill give them that! good callbacks during the fight
character callbacks were cool! i’m glad we got a little bit of kai (no reunion with grif tho so that sucks), dylan was there but she was kinda characterized weird, grey there, agent one (???) for some reason, 479er!!!!! she was well done and she fit really well into the plot!, no checkup on chorus life which was kinda sad (no lieutenants boohoohoo) some of the callbacks felt out of place tho
i don’t like how they handled tex cause even though it was cool she was back , i feel like we’ve done this dance a thousand times
also carolina quite literally came out of nowhere ?? how did she just ? drop from the sky what ??? LOL
absolutely no donut at all ? there was like one mention of him that i can remember ? lopez is just forgotten about back at the bases ??? i don’t know if the donut thing was something behind the scenes but Uhh
music wasnt up to par - they just reused old songs basically , the weird song that played during the “Memories” sequence wasn’t good
i’m not the hugest fan of the ais in general so i don’t think about them too much but i feel like sigma wasn’t characterized in the same way he was in the freelancer seasons — in pfl he kind of subtly manipulated maine into becoming meta etc etc but for tucker , he basically just like😭 tortured him WHICH IS PROBABLY CAUSE LIKE tucker knows This guy is evil Ahhhh!!! but still that was a little weird
no grimmons sad day for the rvb fandom - some scenes could be read as grimmons, like grif basically inviting simmons to go with him , i’m confused on why simmons stayed because simmons himself literally said One last mission ? so idk what he’s doing bro idk if he’s staying in blood gulch or what — grif just straight up leaves and like ? are they gonna see eachother again orrr ? what’s happening
the ending felt rushed and kinda weird - just vibes , i think i’m biased because i now realize that not a lot can beat the s13 ending , but even so , grif just kinda leaves and that’s the end 😭
i feel like we didn’t get a whole lot of conclusions for all the characters even tho that’s what was promised
overall i’m probably giving this a solid 5-6/10 , the season was overall very hit or miss in some aspects and scenes
ANWYAYS😭 don’t let my opinions take away from your experience with season 19! this is just how i felt about it after my first watchthrough and my opinions might/will change!

Welcome to Camp Kill Batman
When the first batch of recruits come, it’s going to rain any minute. The skies are black, the humidity is unbearable, and the jungle is silent.
It’s no wonder the Knight’s nowhere in sight when the APC pulls into the compound.
Antoine’s the one who went to collect them. He won’t scare them, and he’s not busy; Frank, the other Good Choice, had had a breakthrough on some drone thing and had left firm instructions that unless the compound was actively going to self-destruct in two minutes, Do Not Disturb. Riley had tagged along, which maybe wasn’t a great idea, but really, Trent figures, how bad can it possibly have gone?
What he should figure, he realizes later, is how bad can it possibly go. The men pile out, already bitching about the heat. They’re professionals, though, and they get lined up fast enough despite their obvious confusion.
“These the new recruits?”
Trent doesn’t jump. He just shudders a little, that’s all. The Knight is way, way too stealthy for a guy dressed like…well…that. Antoine, who probably saw him coming, just drawls, “Yessir,” in a tone that screams, no shit these’re the new recruits.
There’s another movement, small and fast like a bug, on his left. A second later Riley’s nudging him in the ribs and going, HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT. He grunts an acknowledgement. He doesn’t have to be here, but he’s a little curious, really, as to how this is gonna go.
“I want to know what I’m working with,” the boss says suddenly. He steps back, cocks his head, and Trent has just enough time to think, oh for fuck’s sake when he continues with, “Attack me.”
There’s a beat. Two. Then one of them, with a long scar down the back of his head, asks, “All of us? Together?”
“Mm-hm.”
“But that’s–”
“What you’ll be doing in Gotham. I’m giving you all an order. Follow it, or leave.”
They follow it.
About four and half minutes later, Antoine lights a cigarette, gives Trent and Riley a very, very tired Look, and gets back in the APC.
Yeah. Mark’s probably not gonna be very happy.
* * *
Honestly, Trent chalks that one up to needing to make an impression. This whole thing sounds crazy on paper. And it worked: the second and third batches are swiftly pulled aside with, “He kicked our asses like five minutes after we got here, this guy means business.”
So when batch five rolls around, Trent’s not expecting to be called over.
“Some of you are probably thinking that this is overkill,” he says. “Ages here is going to show you why it’s not.”
What.
“Sir,” he starts, but the Knight just turns to him and spreads his hands.
“Shoot at me.”
“What.”
“Your last physical said your hearing was fine.” Little shit. “Shoot at me.”
He regrets not being busy today. Oh, well. Look, this is on camera. If this goes badly, it’s on camera that he was literally just following orders.
He hefts his minigun up. Wonders, a few seconds later, why he was worried; he gets a few rounds off, sure, but the Knight just does that annoying-ass sproing, bounces off the gun like it’s a damn diving board, and probably only doesn’t use gravity to drag Trent to the ground after because that’s not the point. The recruits are suitably awed. Trent’s just annoyed. There were a thousand ways that could have gone horribly wrong and also, what the fuck.
“You owe me a fight later,” he gripes. “No guns. No holds barred.”
The Knight just laughs.
“Sure,” he says easily. “Why the hell not.”
* * *
Twice is coincidence. The third time, when the Knight opens with some absolute bullshit line about, ‘whoever kills me gets to command–and profit from–this entire operation’, Trent just sits back to watch the fun.
He didn’t know this was going to happen. Hell, the boss just got back from Gotham. Showed up a few minutes after they did, actually, roaring into base on a bike Trent doesn’t recognize.* But he hopped off, collared one of the mechanics and told them to take it to Frank, and came over to investigate. And, well, he led with that.
“There’s no way he can take on that many guys,” one of the newbies whispers. And. It’s just, well, look. Nobody is stupid enough to accuse Trent of being a fine, upstanding gentleman.
He heads over, relishing a little in the path that gets cleared for him immediately, and rumbles, “Wanna bet?” The man blanches and he clarifies, grinning, “Twenty bucks.”
Newbie looks very much like he does not wanna bet, but he also doesn’t wanna risk losing face.
“You’re on. Twenty bucks this guy gets his ass kicked.”
“Anyone else?”
There’s a few takers that agree, there’s no way this nutcase can come out of this. Trent suddenly has a wonderful, awful idea and twists over to go, “Hey, Antoine.”
That causes a ripple of worry. Apparently, they didn’t realize they were betting with one of the Top. Oh, well. Antoine shakes a cigarette out and looks over.
“What.”
“We got a bet going over here that the boss is gonna get clobbered. Wanna pick a side?”
He shrugs, flicks his lighter open.
“Twenty that one of ‘em insists they need medical.”
Good point.
“Yeah, I’m changing mine to that, actually. All right. Anyone else?”
No.
They walk away with roughly ten new mortal enemies. Better than the one insisting that he had a broken arm; it was a sprain, and Mark was not happy to have to explain this.
Still, Trent figures, rifling through his cash, he’ll be around for newbies every time. This isn’t a bad haul.
THE END
*It’s Dick’s. Jason steals two bikes from him (that we know of), presumably for use with his own tech, though he’s also such a little fucker about it. :p

opinions on rufioh? i have literally none on him, and i’m interested in what you have to say about him.
Rufioh is an absolute shithead in such a normal, average, everyday way that it makes me want to throw him. I like him a lot, but he's a complete bastard, and I don't ever really see that acknowledged. Usually people are too busy thirsting over how "hot" he is to acknowledge he has any character outside of his looks and his spinelessness with regards to his relationship with Horuss. He has, like... Jake Syndrome, in that regard. Boiled down to nothing but meek arm candy. I feel like a lot of people are willing to look over his actions because he's attractive, and therefore declare him as the "normal one" of the Alpha Troll men, but that's... Not the case, really. He really does benefit from being a Rogue of Breath in that respect...
The way he's treated Damara over the years is nothing short of diabolical. One thing everyone needs to recognize is that their relationship started before the advent of the session. You know what else started before the advent of the session? Rufioh cheating on Damara with Horuss. Despite that, despite the fact that he was knowingly cheating on her for years, despite knowingly going behind her back and betraying her for years, he has the audacity to continuously call her crazy, paranoid, jealous, psycho, et cetera. As if her fear, anger, and hurt weren't valid. As if that's all uncalled for! As if that all just came out of nowhere and had zero justification! He deeply, severely hurt this young girl who genuinely loved him, he took advantage of her trust in him for years, and he has the absolute fucking audacity to act like she's in the wrong for being affected by it. What an asshole! What a huge fucking douchebag! Wow!
He still calls her his "crazy ex" and his "psycho ex-girlfriend" despite the fact that they're... Still friends? Damara and Rufioh have a complicated relationship by the time we meet them in canon- yes, he's done so much harm to her, and she's reacted in turn, but they're still friends. And he's still demonizing her. It's awful. He sucks so bad. I don't know what ungodly force compels him to be such an insolent manchild but he sure is one.

See You Again
“I said I’m ‘bout to go to war,
And I don’t know if I’ma see you again.”
————————-🧡————————————
Synopsis: You find yourself wide awake, thinking about Dontis.
—————————-🧡—————————————-
“The sky was a shade of purple yesterday”.
A knot formed in your chest, and your whole body felt hollow. Heat bloomed throughout your entire being, and beads of sweat formed on your forehead as you typed.
“Yes, but the clouds rolled into orange hues.”
The overwhelming feeling of dread formed in the pit of your stomach, and you swayed slightly where you stood. You sucked in a deep, shaky breath and your whole body began to shake. You never would’ve guessed how two seemingly harmless sentences had such a profound effect on you. But, it made sense. Those words were the harbinger of war, and your beloved Dontis was in the very heart of the battlefield. With war, comes pain, and with pain, comes death, and it was a very likely possibility that Dontis could end up as a casualty. And, although this was something you’ve already realized, this stark, and very possible reality hasn’t hit you yet.
Feeling strangely detached from your own body, you started to get ready for bed.
……..
By the time you’ve emerged from the shower, night had fallen. The moon was out—its white radiance illuminating the midnight blue sky. There weren’t many stars peeking overhead that night, but the beautiful lights of the city that lived underneath the vast sky made up for it. You sighed inwardly, feeling hollow yet again. He would’ve loved this.
You remembered the first time you stayed in New Orleans with him. It was such an unfamiliar place—the city was bustling—full of rich culture, and people from many backgrounds, humans and supernatural beings alike. It was there where you finally saw what Dontis was trying to tell you when you two first met. There IS a place where everyone could live in harmony—without threat or fear. Without needing to hide. And that place was New Orleans. You remembered how Dontis beamed with absolute delight as he planned out what exactly you guys were going to do there, figuring out ways on how to make your stay so memorable, “that you’d never want to leave”—or however he put it. And if it were anyone else, they would’ve been smiling from ear to ear, eager to help with the planning, trying to find what days to go sightseeing at what time, and at what place; but all you could really think about was the recent revelations you’ve come to know, and how you’ve spent so many years of your life living a lie. Your hands were stained with the blood of so many people just to get this far—to finally catch the incubus who made your father go “missing.” And now the same incubus that you worked so hard to find stood before you, happily ranting about how exquisite Cafe du Monde’s cuisine was, and how you two should totally stop there for lunch tomorrow when he takes you on a tour around the city.
You let out a loud, hearty laugh—one that came from the very pit from your stomach, one so strong that it bounced from the back of your throat and reverberated against the buildings and streets. You couldn’t find the irony any more hilarious.
“What is so funny?” Dontis inquired, a bit confused as to why you were laughing seemingly out of nowhere.
“It’s just really crazy how just a little while ago, I had you tied up and chained in my basement. I never would’ve guessed that our lives—our relationship would go from that, to you planning on taking me on a grand tour around the city,” you chuckled, wiping a tear from your eye.
Dontis smiled—a smile that you grew fond of. A smile you’ve come to love.
“Ah, yes. Life could be crazy and unpredictable. But it could also be beautiful and exciting. Filled with anticipation and a bit of wonder. It’s for us to enjoy, if we allow ourselves to do that.”
You stared deeply into his eyes—his irises as gray as storm clouds, flecks of gold and brown peeking its way through the grey colored ocean that was his eyes. Soft and sweet. Warm and inviting. Loving and kind. And that was the first time you truly got to admire how gorgeous Dontis was. Your lips stretched into a toothy grin.
“Well,” You said, running your hand into your hair, “I’m glad you’re here to show me just how great life can be.”
And on this night, the moon was out, its white radiance on display for all to see.
The sky tinted in the shade of midnight blue.
Not a single star peeking overhead. The streets lined with city lights, and a bustling city that lived under the vast sky.
And it was a night just like this one, where you found love.
Your eyes began to sting and you crossed your arms, your nails digging into your skin to prevent yourself from falling into pieces. The reality struck you so hard that it almost knocked you over. Dontis may never come back, and that reality was too much to bear. And although you’ve made the decision to stay behind, you found yourself wishing that you went with him. You spent so many years of your life using your skills to hurt people, and it all amounted to nothing. But, this could’ve been your chance to actually put those skills to good use—to help and protect the ones you love instead of hurting and killing people for them. But it was all too late now. You let out a loud, forceful sob—one that came from the very pit of your stomach, one that clawed its way out of your throat, and made your chest tighten and burn. You sunk to the bed, your nails digging deeper and deeper into your skin. You had no idea what you’d do without him. He was the only person you actually gave a damn about. He was the only person you had ever truly loved. Being alone again in this world was a reality that you couldn’t handle. It was a reality that you weren’t willing to accept.
You laid in bed, although, you weren’t getting any sleep tonight.
Because Dontis had gone to war, and he had taken your heart with him.
———————————🧡——————————-
A/N: I remember listening to the audio where Dontis was saying goodbye to listener, and honestly his whole interaction with them just killed me inside. Dontis was the whole reason why listener was able to settle down in the first place—and he gave them the opportunity to actually live a life that didn’t have anything to do with violence and death. So, to see that the one person who taught you how to live your life now going off to risk their own, with a very big possibility of not coming back—just made me feel for them so bad.
I’m trying to get better at writing dialogue for these characters, so if there is any improvement that needs to be made, don’t hesitate to let me know!
That you so much for reading, ya’ll! 🧡

Johnny dating a country girl maybe? Or a girl that's just from the south, idk I randomly thought of this I think it'd be neat 😭
All Over Again
Hot summers and hot love in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Johnny Knoxville X Fem!Reader
(Fluff)
2.4k Words
Warnings: Highly suggestive content, alcohol, flirting, guns, hangovers, erotic fishing
An: Thank you so much for this request!! Believe it or not, I actually was pondering this idea for a while! XD A good chunk of this is based off of where I grew up (in the middle of nowhere), so most of this definitely comes from experience! That, and I was inspired by these two amazing fics by one of my favorite writers on here, @thedreamydemon !! You all should ABSLOUTELY check her out!! The first scene specificly takes inspiration from this clip of Knox from the Big Brother video that I still just can’t get enough of!! This is maybe the filthiest thing I have ever written. Hope you enjoy! :D
Pop! One beer can fell off where it was propped up on an old piece of furniture in Johnny’s front yard, landing on the half dead grass with a clink before he started on the next one. There was no way in hell you would ever own a gun, but there was just something so sexy about how he handled that thing. Maybe it was how, when he aimed, he’d raise his shoulder just enough to make those too short t-shirts he always wore ride up about an inch above his belt, giving you a peek at the contoured lines of his stomach. Pop! Clink. Maybe it was the way he handled that pump action so skilfully and how muscular his biceps looked when he did, the sun golden against his skin as his sleeves stretched around them. Pop! Clink.
He didn’t seem to notice you until went to take a seat in the lawn chair he had set up on the dirt road few cars ever traversed, cracking open a beer and leaning his Winchester 1897 against one of the metal arms. Sun glinted off of the silver frame of his sunglasses, sweat making his skin just barely glisten as he brought the sweating can to his lips, glancing up at you, “Hey, mama.” Smiling that crooked way he always did, Johnny passed you a beer, “What brings you ‘round here?” The heat wasn't the only thing that had you sweating bullets, but you tried to play cool, “Well…” The liquid soothed your burning throat as you took a swig, “I was thinkin’ maybe we could go down by the creek- cool off a little…” The last part of your sentence lingered in the air, as if to suggest something else that Johnny immediately picked up on. He pretended not to get it just to tease you a little, “Sure thing. In fact , I gotta idea…” Standing up, he dusted his hands off in his dickies, “Why don’t we do a little fishin’?”
Johnny looked at you like you were crazy when you told him you never learned how, “You’re kidding.” Gazing up at him as he stood just a little too close to you, you raised your hands in appeal, “No- completely serious here.” You didn’t have The fainted clue what was so important about knowing how to fish or what your boyfriend found absolutely hilarious about the fact that you didn't. He cooed teasingly, trying to get under your skin a little just to bug you, “Aww, what’s the matter? Daddy never taught you how?” You couldn’t tell if it was the sun or your blush that made your face feel hot. Something in you wanted to wipe that shit eating grin off of his face, but you played civil, rolling your eyes and saying nothing, he responded to your silence, “Well,” One of his hands came to rest heavy on your shoulder, “Not to worry, doll, ‘cause I’m gonna teach you everything you need’t know.”
☆彡
The shade of the towering Blue Ash trees that flanked the rocky bed of the river provided relief from the blistering heat as Johnny held your hand in his, helping you traverse the uneven terrain like the good boyfriend he was even though you insisted you were perfectly capable of it yourself. His palm still felt cool from his beer as you squeezed it. the decline evened out as you neared the edge of the water, crouching by the bubbling water. Sun streamed through the leaves overhead, dappling patterns on your skin as you peered into the lazy current while your boyfriend sat down near you on the rocks, setting everything up.
“Now, what I want you to do,” Johnny threaded a wriggling pink worm onto the hook, “S’just hold this for me till you feel a little tug, alright?” He snickered saying the last part. You only half listened to him as he explained, nodding to make it seem like you got it, “Mmhm…” Distracted, you could barely prepare yourself before you felt a strong pair of hands grip your hips and pull you back, landing on the lap of your boyfriend. That was definitely one way to get your attention. Handing you the rod stiffly, he positioned your hands around it with his significantly larger, more skilled ones, holding them there for a second as he tilted his head to the side, bringing it right behind your ear, his voice low and soft against the skin of your neck, “That easy enough for you?” Not sure whether you were more turned on or ticked off by his petty behavior, you aired on the former, “Yeah...”
“Good, now…” His hands released from around yours, “the most important part of fishing is payin’ attention.” You could feel him smile against the shell of your ear, the calloused pads of his fingers slipping down your wrists, then your forearms, the only sound for maybe a mile being the woods arround you. “If you can’t pay attention, then…well, you won’t be able’t catch anything worthwhile.” Little tickling touches made you squirm as his hands made their way to your waist, his thumbs slinking down to your lower back as he played with the hem of your tank top, a few of his fingers skillfully grazing the skin underneath it. Ohh, he knew what he was doing. Johnny chuckled at your inability to sit still as you squirmed in his lap, his breath hot against your ear as he whispered, mockingly, “Easy, easy…” Gently, like you wouldn’t even have noticed if your nerves weren’t on fire, his lips found your neck, sucking just barely. You felt Johnny grin at the noise you made when his mouth made contact with your pulse point, feeling the flutter of your heartbeat under your skin. It was twisted, but god, it was hot. He was fucking with you
Your hands began to tremor a little from how fervent he was and you practically snapped, albeit softer than you would’ve wanted, “What- what do you know about fishing anyway?” Johnny’s hands came back up to wrap around yours, steadying them as he pulled himself away from the swollen, pink skin of your neck, murmuring against you, “I know more than you do.” Well, he was right.
Just then, you felt a tug at the end of the line. Thinking quick, you scrambled for the reel, spinning it faster than you thought you physically could. Johnny’s eyes went as wide as dinner plates when he saw the flopping, wet monster of a catfish you reeled in, almost jumping at the sight with you still in his lap, “Holy shit!” He seemed more surprised than you, even though you were the one who caught the damn thing, “What’d you mean, holy shit’? I thought you were gonna take me fishing!” He chuckled in surprise, jaw still a little slack, “Well, I mean- I wasn't thinking about that kinda fish!” It took you a second to realize the stupid dirty joke he made, facepalming. Although that prospect wasn’t entirely awful in your mind, you feigned disgust, “Come on! Y’can’t believe I’m that easy, do you?” Johnny shrugged, “Well, a guy can hope…”
★彡
It was rare that Johnny wasn’t outside on a day like this. Usually, he’d be sitting in front of his single wide, drinking his beer on the ‘porch’ he fashioned out of stolen scrap lumber that you never really trusted enough to step foot on. But he wasn’t today, so you decided to be a good girlfriend and pop by. Maybe he wasn’t feeling well. Maybe he needed a little company.
The semi rotted wood creaked unsteadily under your feet as you opened up the screen, knocking gently on the white plywood door that was covered in mildew, as was the siding and just about anything on the outside of that house. Leaning against the door to listen, almost pressing your cheek to it, you called, “Johnny…?” A beat passed before you got a short, groggy response from inside, “S’unlocked.”
The living room was cloaked in darkness from the drawn lacy valance curtains, little slivers of light where they didn’t fully cover the windows stretching over the floor, like a peephole to the mess they hid. A low groan from the couch alerted you to your boyfriend’s presence in the dark. Shutting the door behind you, it took a few seconds for your eyes to get adjusted.
Johnny’s long legs stretched out on the couch, his head propped up on one side and his feet on the other, clad in nothing but his white boxers. Your eyes trailed down from his bare, toned chest, rising and falling with each breath, down his stomach to the trail of hair that led below his waistband that made you practically salivate at the mere sight of. A pink and purple tie-dye bruise the size of your fist sat just to the left of it, drawing your attention to the myriad of smaller bruises and scratches that dappled his body. He didn’t look too hot but god, did he look good. Practically drooling, you tried your best to hide it, “Can I, uh- get you some coffee?” Johnny’s voice was low and hoarse as he nodded, “Yeah…that’d be great, honey.” He laid all sprawled out like that as you gingerly stepped over the crinkling empty beer cans that littered the ground as you prepared a cup for him and yourself.
Returning, you found him sitting up, the arm that was haphazardly thrown over his eyes having been removed as he took the cup, looking up at you. He was sporting a nasty shiner and a busted lip, but besides that the only thing that was really awry was the absence of his sunglasses. Even indoors and at night, he usually wore them to hide his drunk circles, but you always told him they were cute, especially with the dead look he always kinda had behind his eyes. Leaning down, you gave him a gentle kiss on his purple, bruised cheekbone and he winced. You scoffed at his reaction, smiling, “Don't be a baby.”
Sitting down next to him on the couch, Johnny took that as his cue to get comfortable, laying back with his head on your lap. You ran a hand through his hair, his thick locks tickling the spaces between your fingers. The soothing motion elicited a groan from deep in his throat as he stared up at you adoringly. Johnny snickered, his crows feet crinkling up, “Nice view here.” Yep, he was feeling better. “Oh? Y’like the twins?” You giggled, and so did he, still somewhat inebriated, “Mmhm. Love ‘em.”
“Y’know, Rodge’s playin’ the bar tonight.” Johnny cracked a wry smile, “Wanna go?” You weren’t one to turn him down, even if he couldn’t dance sober, much less drunk. Nonetheless, you probably had all of Rodger’s CD’s in your pick up, and he always put on a great show at the kind of honky tonk bars you and Johnny frequented, so it was hard to say no. “Okay, well…” You stroked one of Johnny’s temples with your thumb, tracing an old scar, “If I can get you feelin’ better by tonight, then sure.” He took the hand that was resting on his face and planted a gentle kiss on one of your knuckles, “I’ll make sure of it, doll.”
☆彡
Johnny always had the fellas over- that is, on nights he wasn't taking you out. They’d build a bonfire on the burnt patch of his lawn and drink and sing Marshall Tucker songs until the sun came up. But on those other nights, when you were out fooling around somewhere far too late- those were your favorite nights- like tonight, nestled snugly under Johnny’s arm in a bar that stank like sweat and booze. Romantic.
He learned how to dance slow from movies, and you could tell from how Johnny stumbled over your feet a little as Rodge started up on a real sappy number about whoring. The lights were all low and his hand sat loosely on your waist, holding you close enough that you could taste the beer on his breath. Leaning down, you felt his forehead rest gently against yours like he was just about to kiss you, but before he could close the distance between your mouths, the song faded out, and applause erupted in the crowd as he wordlessly slipped away from you.
But before you could start panickedly scouring the bar for him, poof! Your boyfriend reappeared on stage, stumbling up to the mic to applause from the crowd. He was somewhat of a local celebrity due to his usual antics and held up to his gutsy reputation with little stunts like this. “Hey, cuz.” Rodger shot him a nod and Johnny grabbed the mic, leaning closer with a grin that could tempt a nun, “I gotta song for a special lady out there tonight. Think y’could help me out?” He shot you a grin as the beginning plucky notes of the next song began. Inside, you felt like one of those teen girls that would scream at Beatles shows, watching your boyfriend drunkenly crooning Johnny Cash to you up on that shitty plywood stage. Well, he was singing it to about a hundred people, all dancing and hollering themselves, but you knew he had his eye on you behind those sunglasses.
The song ended to much applause and excitement, the crowd really fired up from his performance as you stood there, lovesick. All of a sudden you were hoisted off of your feet and into the air! You panicked for a moment before you recognized the familiar cackle of the man who was holding you. “Knoxville!” You wrapped your arms around his neck, giving him a kiss on the cheek, “That was amazing!” He chuckled, cracking a goofy smile, “Thanks, sweetheart. Now, what’d you say we get outta here?”
“That’d be great.”

Safe space : Xavier Thorpe x fem!reader
Tumblr media
Summary: There are many flavours of outcast in Nevermove, but the four mains cliques are claws, fangs, scales and stoners. Main being the key word here. When you are a minority (like a forest pixie) you may just feel a bit lonely, struggling to find a place for yourself even if you have a lot of friends. And since forest adventure can be dangerous you may just benefit from the hospitality of one misunderstood artist.
A/N: My first Wednesday fanfiction! Let me know what you think.
***
„There are many types of outcast in the school, but the four main types are fangs, claws, scales and stoners.” Enid was doing her best to show her new roommate, Wednesday Addams around Nevermore and acquaint her with its coloration. ” We got werewolves which are obviously furs, fangs are vampires….”
“Let me guess. Scales are sirens?” Wednesday did not seem amused at all.
“Precisely.” Enid beamed at her friend insight
“What Enid failed to mention is that there are a lot more creatures in the school. Kinds that don’t really fit into any of the groups” I decided to step into the conversation and put in my pennyworth.
“Oh, Y/N.” Enid pouted at me “you know well enough you are a part of our group. Do you feel left out?”
“What? No. Hell, no. Never.” I scoffed playing it all cool, but the blonde did not seem convinced.
“What do you mean other groups. What exactly are you?” Wednesday turned her piercing gaze on me.
“I’m a ….”
“She’s a forest spirit. You should see all this amazing things she can do while she sneaks out into the woods in the middle of the night. “
“Enid! That’s supposed to be a secret. Weems will get me expelled if you keep running your mouth!”
“Please.” The she-wolf rolled her eyes playfully “we both know she knows. Nothing can go unnoticed under the principal watchful eye. And oh, Wednesday, you’ll see how well she does in botany class. She’s pretty much Ms. Thornhill favorite student….”
“I;m not! Bianca is the best!”
“Well, maybe, but she’s not really the most likeable one.  Could you do some of your woodsy magic? Like last semester, when you grow a tree in the middle of the quad?” she squealed and squeezed my hands in a pleading gesture.
“That was an accident and it got me suspended…..” I muttered reminding her how the story ended
“Right….. But it was still fun.” She grinned “Isn’t it amazing Wednesday.”
“I don’t find it equally as amusing as you.”
“Thank god. It was rather annoying to feel like a freak in a school full of outcast.” I smirked at the black haired girl, but her expression did not change in the slightest.
“Hey Enid, YN!” Ajax came out of nowhere and immediately started bubbling “you know the rumors about your new roommate? Apparently she eats human flesh. How crazy is that? Do you think you can deal with her? She’s the talk of the entire school….”
“That just shows how similar to normal school Nevermore is.” I laughed “gossips everywhere”
Enid’s face were dropping more and more with his every word.
“Um…. Ajax….” She took a step back showing Wednesday in all her gloomy glory.
“Quite the contrary….” She started and as much as I knew she was saying something amusing, leaving poor Ajax completely confused I did not care anymore. I spotted school’s resident tortured artist, Xavier Thorpe, scribbling on the wall, absolutely immersed in his own world.
“Hey there.” I came from his left and he turned his gaze towards me, a bit surprised at first.
“Hi, YN. Already tired of your roommate?” he smirked, but his eyes revealed that playful glint.
“How can I? I bet Ajax already spilled to you some details about her.” I leaned on the wall, careful not to smudge his work of art
“Yeah, the human flesh?”
“Precisely. What are you painting? The dreams are tormenting you again?”
“Not of late. And as for the work you may see for yourself….” He showed all his teeth in the widest and most happy smile I have ever seen on him.
“Oh, you showoff” I nudged him playfully realizing he portrayed my favorite spot in the Nevermore forest. “Xavier Thorpe, are you trying to get on my good side just so I would help you with Thornhill’s homework?”
“I would never” he blushed  a bit and looked down.
“You can always ask Bianca, you know.” I smirked but backed down immediately seeing his hurt expression “sorry.” I cleared my throat. “too far, I know. Sorry.”
“It’s fine. I know you did not mean it this way.”
“Xavi?”
“Yes?”
“It’s not fine. And it’s ok. Some words of wisdom: let it hurt and let it go. It will get better. And as for now, can you animate this tree for me? Pretty please? I miss it, since Weems tighten her leash on my night escapades. Apparently it’s not safe.” I scoffed “if it’s not safe for a forest pixie to go into its natural habitat how does that speak about the school?”
“ No one wants to see you hurt, that’s it.” Xavier shrugged and with a single hand movement made the tree come to life. It was exhilarating to see the leaves flow and rustle, almost feeling the wind on my face and sensing my powers grow…..
“Um, YN….”
“What?” Xavier gently grabbed my arm and made me turn around “oh, shit, not again” I rubbed my forehead. This time I did not grow a tree in the quad. This time I made the moss on the walls grow so big that it trapped a few students. “I;m screwed, am I not?”
“Miss Y/L/N, you will come with me to the office.” Of course before I could reverse the damage principal Weems herself showed up. Of course. What else?
***
“I’ve been tolerating your behavior for long enough, miss Y/L/N. All those aberrations of yours….”
“But….”
“Quiet! Don’t you think I know your skills grow at the slightest mention of the forest? That you are in no control of your own power?”
“Isn’t it what the school is supposed to teach me?!”
“It takes far more effort with you.” Weems hissed “you are no part of any group and special attention has to be put into your education. “
“So, I;m too much to handle?”
“You attitude certainly is. As for now, until I figure out what to do with you, you are forbidden from stepping out of the school ground.”
“What? Why? It’s not my fault I am who I am!”
“Now!” she interrupted me “you will go back to your dorm and won’t speak about what happened ever again.”
“Fine!” I turned around fighting the urge to throw something into the wall.
“Oh, and miss Y/L/N?” Weems spoke with her sweetest and therefore most deadly tone
“Yes, principal Weems?” I retorted with the same pitch
“You will stay inside school. Don’t you dare going against me.”
I send her the most sour smile I could produce and exited the office. I had no intention of listening. Being out of the woods would make me wither and my powers to wither and I could not let it happen. Angered and frustrated I stepped into the Ophelia Hall, clenching my fist and jaw, hoping for a bit of alone time, but having not one but two roommates made it impossible.
“What happened?” Enid jumped from her bed and studied my face carefully
“Weems forbid me from forest. I’m basically on home arrest!”
“What?! That’s terrible!”
“You think?!” I spat “sorry, Enid. I’m just a little bit angered. Wish I had Wednesday level of i-don’t-give-a-shit attitude.”
“But you do.” Addams said without stopping typing on her writing machine . ”However I can’t understand why you make it everyone’s business.”
“You know what? You are right Addams. I’m gonna do it my way, thanks for the advice.”
“Wasn’t aiming for it.”
***
It wasn’t; even that late , barely evening and the sun did not even set yet when I sneaked out of the school. Surely using the front door was not an option therefore I had to extend the vines and went out using good old vigilante style, but apart from a few bloody scratches on the hand it worked well enough. Worst part was assuring Enid I will be fine and I won’t get caught. Oh, and forcing Wednesday to keep Enid from spilling the secret to anyone. Having done that, I sneaked outside, feeling lighter and more powerful than ever. Maybe it was the thrill of doing something I was not supposed to. Screw the unreasonable rules! Keeping the forest creature out of the home place! I run into my favorite place, the one Xavier was kind enough to paint on the school wall and as usual, the sight of it was breathtaking.
“Hello.” I whispered slightly and the tree rustled coming to life “I know. I missed you too.” Rubbing the bark I left a couple of bloody marks on it. “It’s hard when you feel like you don’t belong. Lonely. And I was almost kept from my happy place….” I sighed deeply leaning on the tree feeling the life inside it and all of a sudden a crazy idea came into my mind. I decided to see if it was really impossible to control my abilities “Let’s see what I can really do” I muttered to myself stretching hands. A bit of light appeared on my palm and I used it to change the color of the leaves from light green to the deepest shade of the same color. “You like it?” I chuckled as the tree branches moved a bit “how about a real makeover?” with a flinch of a wrist the trunk turned blue, and the crown gold and silver. “Top model!” I laughed but soon enough realized that playing like this could turn some attention my way and it was not a point of sneaking out of the school so I reversed the spell sighing deeply. Instead of charades I created some vines and formed a swing to rest. It only took a couple of sways on it before I heard some disturbing noises coming from inside the forest. At first, I did not bother but when the sounds came closer I decided it was better to find a better, perhaps safer place. So leaving the tree with a brief goodbye I turned another way. What I did not realize was that those bloody marks I left would make whatever creature was growling in the wilderness catch and worse – remember my scent……
There was one more place outside of school ground that I always considered a safe space. Xavier art shed. I discovered it some time ago, but never mend to intrude so I never really came inside, just wandering around. But one day, when I was in a particularly bad mood, and less attentive than usual, he just spotted me in the area. So it happened that it was a bad day for him as well and he did not took it well.
Flashback
“what do you think you are doing here?” he cornered me so I had no place to run away. His angry gaze fixed on me.”
“ Nothing, just walking around. You know my drill. I need access to plants and fresh air. “
“Are you spying on me? “ he asked sadly
“What? Why would you say that? Xavi? Hey, are you all right? Did you talk to your father?” the look in his eyes was enough of an answer “I never  mend to make it look like I was following you, I’m sorry….” “No, I am. I’m sorry. I’m being a bit irrational.”
“Maybe, but it seems you have reasons for it. I won’t push you, but you know you can always talk to me, right?” I raised eyebrows waiting for an answer.
“Yeah, I do.”
“You know, we are a bit similar in some aspects. Like we both don’t feel like we belong with other students, searching for a place to call our own…. Sorry it that’s  a bit of exaggeration…..”
“It’s not. You are right. But please, keep it to yourself.”
“Your secret is safe with me” I assured and for a second there was silent between us. Soon becoming a bit awkward
“So…. care to share what is this place?” I fiddled with my fingers, poorly trying to hide my embarrassment.
“A place for myself. You got your escape I got mine.”
“An art studio?”
“How did you know?”
“Call it a lucky guess. I know you well enough. Does Weems know?”
“That’s the first thing you ask about?”
“Just cheking out if you’re the rebel or ….”
“Or what?” he took a step closer
“Or not.”
“She knows. I renovated this shed and in exchange she let me adapt it for my own needs.”
“Cool.”
“You know….” Xavier looked on the ground “it can be yours too, if you ever need a place to rest after getting tired during your escapades.”.
“Now you are willing to share? What happened to the misunderstood artist image of yours?”
“Don’t tell anyone. My reputation will be ruined.” He smirked “Do we have a deal?”
“Shake on it!” I laughed.
End of flashback
From that moment I sometimes used Xavier’s hideout, especially when I needed some art therapy. Obviously I would never go so far to uncover his works in progress, but there were enough  drawings and paintings on display to keep me occupied. Who would have guessed, I mostly enjoyed those of wild plants and animals. I came inside quietly and as the light illuminated the whole room I was instantly taken aback by the newest portrait. Was it …. Me? I could not believe my own eyes as I took step forward studying every line and detail of my face, made with precision and with …..
“YN!” Xavier came through the door a couple seconds later, clearly surprised and a bit terrified by the fact I just saw my imagine on the canvas. Trying not to intimidate him even more I decided to play it cool.
“Hey, Xav. I was just around and took the invitation. If you want to work it’s fine. I’ll leave.”
“No! No, please, stay. I think I owe you some explanation. “
“You don’t owe me anything. There’s no need. You are my friend and I won’t push you into ……”
“YN! I’m tired of friends! I had a dream of you and…. That made me realize things……”
“Ok, hold on.  One shocking news at a time. You had a dream about me?
“Yes.”
“Now I want explanation. Is that why this “ I pointed towards the drawing “is here?”
“Yes. I needed to get it out.”
“Obviously. But can you elaborate? Was it a nightmare or a vision? Did I hunt you or something like that?”
“I saw you being attacked by… something.”
“Xavier….”
“I don’t know what it was.” He mussed his hair coming closer to the painting “but it was terrifying. Something is coming. For school. For you. I can’t foresee the future, but maybe Weems was right to ban you from wandering round.” He was now pacing nervously “maybe you should not be here. I can’t let you get hurt. I can’t see you in pain. I don’t want to lose you. I don’t want anything to harm you.”
“Xavi, Xavi, hey, calm down, please.” Out of pure instincts I grabbed his hands in mine. “I;m here, everything is fine, all right?”
“You are bleeding” he stated blankly feeling a bit of my blood on his skin.
“No, I’m not. It’s just red paint.”
“I’m  a bit experienced in the area, so you know I can tell the difference. Don’t lie to me.”
“Sorry. But it’s nothing. Just a scratch. Will be gone in no time. Can we fast forward to the part when you said you don’t want to be friends?” I looked him straight in the eyes and everything became perfectly clear.
“I don’t. Not anymore. I want something more, but not sure if….”
“I’m willing to try if you are.” I leaned forward and he followed my lead but before anything happened  a loud growl came from the forest.
“Let’s get out of here, all right?” he grabbed my hand and let me out of the shed towards the school. “And you need to patch that injury up. It’s better not to leave blood traces anywhere”.
Being himself Xavier insisted on showing me to the door.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, YN.” He smiled and with the lump in my throat I just nodded and reciprocated disappearing behind the door.
“YN! Was that Xavier? There’s finally something going on between you two! Come on in, you need to tell us…” Enid shot a glance at unamused Wednesday “I mean, you need to tell me, everything!”
to be continued ?

I put a spell on you | Eddie Munson fic
Tumblr media
Eddie Munson x Witch!Reader
Summary: Eddie stumbles upon a house in the middle of the woods that contains something he never expected. What happens next is a lot of crazy shit, that takes him on a rollercoaster of emotions. But what he got out of it was a pretty great girlfriend and confirmation that magic was real, and badass.
Word count - 13,632
Warnings - language maybe, slight angst
a/n this isnt my favourite cause i feel like its rushed in some places, but oh well
━━━━━━━━━♡♥♡━━━━━━━━━
Eddie Munson was a complete idiot. Only he could head to a spot he had been a thousand times– granted it was within a shit ton of trees that all looked familiar– and still get lost. He was supposed to only be an hour, that’s what he’d told his uncle. But now, according to the watch on his wrist, it had been upwards of three considering all his wandering in circles. Or maybe it wasn’t circles as he eventually stumbled on a home built deep inside a cluster of trees, which hadn’t been there before.
It was all by itself, which should have been both awesome and slightly terrifying. If horror movies had taught him anything, it was that he shouldn’t trust a house isolated in the middle of nowhere. But unless he wanted to freeze out here tonight, he didn’t have many options.
A knock on your door was enough to make you freeze. You didn’t get visitors, ever, and you hadn’t planned on starting now. The whole point of your home being out in the middle of nowhere was so that none of those wretched people from town bothered you. It wasn’t like they had ever treated you or your kind with any sense of kindness. It was safe to say you were a little timid to open the door and find out who was on the other side.
“Who’s there?” you called. You didn’t know if telling them you were inside was the wrong move. That didn’t occur to you until after you had already spoken. But that was a consequence you’d deal with if whoever was on the other side of that door was dangerous.
There was a beat of silence, then a creak that came from the old boards that made up the stairs to your home. It was telling you whoever there was shifting their weight from foot to foot. “Uh, hi, I-I’m Eddie,” he started. He already had underlying nerves from being in the creepy woods of Hawkins in the middle of the night, but talking to a stranger he couldn’t see wasn’t helping his fears. “I was out, working–” he cringed, he was such an idiot. He didn’t really know how much drug dealing was classified as a job, nor did it classify lying to a stranger about it. “And I sort of got lost. I didn’t mean to find this place, but I have no idea how to get home from here. Do you think you could help me?”
He sounded harmless, though you didn’t know if it was too early to make that observation. It could all be a big facade. There was also always the possibility that you were overthinking it, he could be telling the whole truth.
“I’m a stranger. You’re not worried I’m going to murder you or something?”
“People actually thought I was a murderer last year,” he said. It hit him only after he said it that he absolutely should not be telling you that. “Oh, my god. I’m not a murderer, I swear. I shouldn’t have said that, that makes me sound really bad. I’m sorry.”
You cracked open the door, only slightly, to catch sight of him. Through the small gap you were able to see him where he stood. His hair was long, clothes dark, chains hanging from his jeans and around his neck, as well as chunky rings lining his fingers. To anyone else, he might look scary, but somehow seeing him in front of you, rather than just his voice, made him less intimidating.
“Hi,” he said. The small smile that creeped onto his face made you want to smile. There was something about the look of pure innocence on his face that made excitement bubble in your chest. It was that look that made you pull the door open further.
Just as you’d been surprised to see what Eddie looked like, he too was surprised to see you. You were far from what he pictured some rando who lived in the middle of the woods would look like. A hell of a lot prettier than he’d been imagining. He couldn’t help but admire you while he stood there, the gray flowy dress you were wearing, tied in with a corset type thing around your waist, a cardigan thrown over your top half to keep you shielded from the cold. You were pretty, so pretty that it almost made Eddie nervous– so nervous he wouldn’t be able to speak to you.
“I have a map inside somewhere. Come in, I’ll show you how to get out of here.”
The sound of your voice snapped him out of his daze, his head nodding instantly. “Okay, thank you. That’s great. Amazing.” He willed himself to shut up when you looked at him oddly, stepping outside to let him into your home.
He took a seat on one of the brightly coloured chairs that sat in the middle of the room, after you gave him the okay of course. The place was strangely decorated, but he loved it, it was cozy. It wasn’t like his home or any of his friend’s homes, but maybe that was what made it so enchanting. You left him there, only a few feet away while you rummaged through drawers in your living room. You knew the map had to be in one of them somewhere.
“What’s your name?”
You hadn’t been expecting him to speak, so he had caught you off guard a little bit. “Huh?” you questioned, head briefly turning in his direction.
If he was bothered by the fact you didn’t answer right away, he didn’t show it. He flashed you a comforting smile, repeating himself. “I told you my name. What’s yours?” He was genuinely curious to know, and you had never had an individual show such interest in wanting to get to know you– not that you could really claim he was getting to know you, asking your name wasn’t much. At this point in your life, you guessed you just wanted a friend. Maybe Eddie would be your best shot.
“Oh. Y/N.” You smiled at him as warmly as you could. For a few moments you paused in your searching, giving him your complete attention. You didn’t know much about making friends, but surely in order to make them they would probably want your undivided attention when they were speaking.
You regretted it instantly though, when you noticed the flash of something across his face. You couldn’t tell if it was recognition or confusion.
“Y/L/N?” he questioned.
You swore your heart stopped beating. It was never a good sign when someone could guess who you were, usually that meant they’d heard of you, and you didn’t like not knowing what he’d heard about you. “Yeah. How’d you know?” He could probably hear the fearful waver in your voice.
“You’re Y/N Y/L/N?” he almost yelled. When you shrunk in on yourself, he realized that was probably the wrong thing to say. It had been a mix of shock and complete disbelief that he was in the presence of something who was nothing but a legend to the kids of Hawkins high. It was wrong, especially if you were such a sweetheart like you were proving to be, but you were like a ghost story in that school. He’d heard so many rumors about you and the awful things you’d done. But now that he was standing here, you must have been around the same age, you couldn’t have done all these horrible things people claimed you had.
After his small outburst, he apologized quietly, wanting to try and make the mood a little lighter. He wasn’t always great at finding the best stuff to say in these situations though. “Y’know everyone in town thinks you’re a witch, right?”
You let out a breath, refusing to meet his eyes, turning back around to the set of drawers around you. “Yeah,” you confirmed. You knew what people said, they’d claimed these things about your family for years, it wasn’t anything new now.
He didn’t know why you were so unbothered with the news. “Like everyone.” He thought emphasizing might get a better reaction out of you.
Still no reaction like he thought he would get though. Instead you said something that flipped his whole world on its head, completely. “Well they’d be right,” you told him. The information was stated like it was a simple fun fact or something, not a piece of information that confirmed to Eddie there were even more supernatural beings in Hawkins– outside of the upside down– than he originally believed. This town just got weirder and weirder by the day.
He laughed, like a complete maniac, then came to a halt when he realized you were deadly serious. It was slightly amusing to you to hear his laughter trail off like that, but you had just found the map of the forest you were looking for, so your attention was elsewhere. “Wait, actually?”
“Unfortunately. But that’s not important right now, I have the map.” You stalked over to him, dodging all the plant pots you had scattered around the floor. You rolled out the paper on the table beside where he was sitting, beginning to point out where you were right now. You were planning to point out a perfectly clear path he could take that would lead him somewhere near the old, abandoned burger place on the edge of town. From there you assumed he knew his way home.
You heard him scoff. “What do you mean that’s not important? Do you know how cool it is to meet a witch?” He sounded genuinely excited, and it made your chest feel all fuzzy.
You sighed. “I just want to help you get home.”
It seemed he had lost all interest in ever getting back there. Even as you had the map laid out, finger on your location planning to show him the way he needed when he knocked at your door, he showed no care. He was more bothered about seeing you perform a spell or something. Sure a lot of supernatural things had happened to him in the past year, all bad, but this could be the first good one he got to experience. It could permanently alter his mindset on the supernatural— back to the way he used to perceive them as in his fantasy books and games— and you would be to thank. “Can you show me? Like, I don’t know, wave your magic wand or something.”
“I don’t have a magic wand.”
“Well that’s lame. What do you have?”
Your eyes scanned the room, eyes squinted in thought of what you could possibly do to prove to this man that you were what you claimed to be. In hindsight, you could cast a spell, you just didn’t think there were any basic enough to keep his attention, but not freak him out. The only other thing you could think to do, was throw some ingredients together, and make him something he could drink. “I can make you a potion.”
He didn’t know why you were so apprehensive, that sounded so cool in his mind. “Hell yeah. Let’s do it.”
You beamed, collecting the stuff you needed for a simple potion. The map and the idea of getting Eddie home was abandoned for the sake of this new task. Ingredients were grabbed, from the top of your head, and tossed into a small black tub that Eddie would insist was a cauldron. It didn’t matter how many times you told him it wasn’t, he didn’t care. He believed what he wanted to believe. When mixing you were a little concerned that the color was off. It was slightly more pink than it usually was, but you didn’t pay it any mind, it didn’t feel like a big deal. Before you could think too much of it, he spoke up and caught your attention.
“You know, you aren’t what I thought you’d be,” he concluded, sounding as though he was deep in thought. If he had said that twenty minutes ago, you might have felt like crawling into a hole and never leaving again. But you had come to see he was harmless. He tended to just think out loud, and as dangerous as that could be some times, it was endearing when he did it.
Your brows raised, head cocking to the side out of curiosity. “Oh yeah? What did you think I’d be like?”
He was quiet, like he was really taking the time to think it over. “Like one of those witches from a movie, I guess. Maybe green with a cackle, and some sort of evil vendetta against a girl from Kansas. Have you seen the wizard of Oz?” You couldn’t help but chuckle at his weird comparison. You’d thought he was getting a little too specific at some point, but it quickly made sense afterward. It didn’t surprise you that his only perception of witches he had was from some old movie.
“I have. Can’t say I’m like the wicked witch of the west though, Eddie.” He narrowed his eyes, squinting at you like if he looked hard enough he would maybe see some sort of comparison. You huffed, rolling your eyes. “I’m not a witch from a movie!”
He still wasn’t entirely convinced. After all the media he’d consumed about witches, telling him they were all similar and fitting into a stereotype, he refused to believe you didn’t fit at least one aspect. “So, you really don’t have a magic wand? Or a pointy hat? Even a broom?” There were probably more things he could list of if he thought about them, but he was just throwing out things from the top of his head right now.
“No,” you deadpanned.
Apparently he still wasn’t done. One look around your home told him there was a single question that he knew would get you. “Do you have a black cat?” There were small clues that told him there was a cat of some kind at the very minimum that frequented here— like the food bowl and the few loose toys dotted around the place. He was just praying to any God that would listen that it happened to be a black one.
“I–“ You paused in your denial very quickly, eyes turning to slits so you could glare at him. You didn’t like being caught out. “There’s a stray that comes by sometimes. I feed him, but that’s it.”
He cheered loudly. “I knew it!”
You didn’t want to let him relish in the teeny tiny victory you’d accidentally granted him for too long. You quickly tried to change the subject to other topics. “Just take this.” You stretched your arm out to him, leaving the potion only inches away from his face.
“What is it?” Eddie Munson wasn’t the kind of guy that questioned things usually. If this was any of his other friends offering him a drink like this, he probably would have taken it without a second thought. But he considered the fact this was only your first meeting and he barely knew you, and thought maybe it’d be safer to ask this once. Plus, it would show Wayne that he’d taught him a little bit of something in terms of stranger danger. That would make the older Munson feel slightly accomplished.
With a sigh, you nudged it in his direction again, hoping he would take the slightly weighted glass from you. “A love potion.” It was simple, but it made his eyes widen slightly. He didn’t recover for a few seconds, looking between the pink tinted liquid and your face. But then he realized you were waiting on him to say something, or make a move, and a smirk curled at the corner of his mouth.
“You want me to fall in love with you?” he inquired, dramatically wiggling his eyebrows. Your cheeks heated up, jaw gaping slightly. A beat passed before you regained yourself enough to know what to say. He startled you as much as you did him.
“Well, you’ll fall in love with the first person you see. You could look in a mirror I suppose,” you suggested. “I might be a recluse but I’ve heard self love is important these days,” you teased.
He laughed, the sound like music to your ears. “What if I want to fall in love with the pretty witch?” You didn’t know if this was still teasing or if he was being genuine now. You weren’t really a good indicator at telling the difference between the two emotions. You opted to believe he was still going down the route of jokes the two of you were cracking.
“Then drink it and you’ll be head over heels for me in seconds.” You were only teasing, the one you had actually given him was just supposed to make him start with hysterical laughter– completely harmless. Or so you thought. He didn’t wait a second before drinking it, which was concerning in more than one way. Not only had he taken a strange drink from a random person he’s never met before, but it was one that was supposed to make him fall in love with said random person. “You really shouldn’t take stuff from strangers, you know.”
He shrugged, setting the glass down now that the liquid was all gone. “Even if they’re really pretty?” he countered.
“What?” you asked, freezing in place.
“You’re really pretty. Like, really pretty. Shame you live out in the woods all by yourself, you’d break hearts left and right downtown.”
The sudden burst of flirtation, and the way his pupils were practically heart shaped as he stared at you, meant only one thing. You’d messed up with the potions. The ingredients were so similar that it must have been a slight of hand or something, you must have gotten distracted while he was talking to you. This was bad. The one possible shot at friendship you’d had in twenty-one years might have just been ruined. “Oh, no,” you muttered. “Oh, no. That was not meant to happen.”
Even an hour later you were still in a state of panic over Eddie. You were pacing, had been for a while, trying to come up with a solution while simultaneously ignoring the man’s attempts at confessing his love for you. You weren’t just embarrassed, you were completely mortified, and you felt terrible for putting him through this. There really went your chance at making a friend today.
You pulled your spell book from off the shelf, hoping Eddie wouldn’t see it and make some comment about how much of one of those film witches you looked like right now. You flicked through desperately, trying to find if there was a counter potion or spell or anything that could be used to snap him out of this. But two whole read throughs of the book and you still came up empty. It left you to feel useless and so apologetic to the poor man who just wanted directions. The worst part was, you didn’t know him well enough to find someone who could help.
“Eddie, is there someone I can call for you, at home, to let them know you’re staying with someone tonight?” You didn’t want his loved ones to worry that he’d gone missing or something along those lines. A part of you was worried that he wouldn’t be able to get you a straight answer, but you didn’t really know how much a love potion messed with someone’s rational thinking.
He was quiet, so you didn’t think he’d heard you or understood what you were asking. You sighed, slouching in the seat you were in. You felt so useless. “There’s Wayne,” he muttered, still staring at you dreamily.
“Wayne? Okay. Can you give him a call for me?”
Every move he made was slow and thought out, but his eyes never once left your figure. When he was on the phone to whoever Wayne was, he sounded so airy and distant, you would be surprised if the man on the other end of the line didn’t notice something was up with him. But the call ended and it seemed no questions were raised, so you let it go. “What do we do now?” he asked, a silly grin on his face when you came into his vision again after setting the phone down.
Not once did you think your night would be ending with a random, potion drunk, man sleeping on your couch, but here you were. “Just get some sleep. We’ll figure this out tomorrow.”
»»——⍟——««
The next morning, you stuck to your promise. You had almost forgotten Eddie was even at your place, but then you turned over in your bed and found him sitting nearby, staring right at you, and you were officially creeped out. It startled you a little bit, but it was your fault so you let it slide. “Um, I’m gonna find a solution for this today,” you told him. It wasn’t a promise as such that you’d be successful, but you were going to do everything you possibly could to help him.
You got ready as well as you could with a lovesick puppy by your side, occasionally having to pause for deep breaths when you ended up on the verge of snapping at him. Then it was back to work, book after book rummaged through for anything that could help. While he distracted himself rummaging through your stuff, you were deeply focused.
You felt as though you could have pulled your hair out with how difficult it was. “This isn’t working!” you huffed. The volume of your tone captured Eddie’s attention, the man turning to you with a frown. It looked like at that moment he would go to the ends of the earth to figure out a solution for you. In fact, that was what he was going to try and do. A sight that was enough to force out at least some of the tension from your body.
He was on his knees in front of you, your hand clasped tightly in his two. “What can I do? How can I help?” he asked. He almost choked on his words from trying to get them out too quickly.
If it wasn’t so endearing you might have laughed. “Do you know anyone that could figure this out? Even just a nerd who’s really into magic or something?” You weren’t very hopeful, he seemed a little bit like a loner. There was a tiny chance he would know the perfect guy, but his silence wasn’t promising.
“Henderson,” he muttered. It was so quiet that you couldn’t hear him. It just sounded like a strange murmur to you.
“What?”
“Dustin Henderson. A nerd who’s really into magic.” He looked proud of himself. His one goal had been to impress you, and by the look on your face, that was exactly what he had done. The smile that creeped onto your face made his heart flutter, and he wasn’t sure if it was a genuine reaction or one fabricated by the potion.
If you hadn’t been so scared of the domino effect it would cause, you might have even graved Eddie with a kiss on the cheek. “You’re a genius!” You jumped up from your seat, nothing but pure joy written on your face. You actually might be able to help him today. He just sat there and watched as you slipped on your shoes, grabbing a jacket by the door. You hadn’t expected for him to still be sitting there blankly when you turned back around. “What are you waiting for, dummy? Let’s go.”
It wasn’t a long walk from your home to basic civilization, but you had no idea how far you had to go after that. And leading a big man baby alongside you didn’t make the journey exactly fun.
“Eddie, I really need you to tell me where I’m going,” you said, standing on the edge of the forest, watching cars pass by on the roads. If he wasn’t going to be any more use by the end of the day, the least he could was give you directions. You were pleading with him at this point, eyes as soft as you could make them in the hopes of swading him.
“Can I hold your hand?” Your brow furrowed. You were worried he hadn’t heard you, but there was no reason why he shouldn’t have. Part of you thought maybe he was just being difficult for the sake of being difficult.
He didn’t let you protest. As you opened your mouth to clearly reject him, he held out his open palm, pouting at you in the hopes it would make you feel sympathetic, and therefore give in to his wants. You hated that he had already got you so figured out, because it worked so fast. He managed to tug at your heart strings with those big brown eyes in ways you couldn’t begin to explain. “If I say yes, will you show me the way to Dustin’s house?” you asked. His pout became a smile rapidly, head nodding wildly. You let out a sigh, slipping your hand into his extended one. “Then, okay.”
And he kept to his word.
Turns out, the way to Dustin’s house was long. It took literally forever. Maybe if Eddie was in a better state of mind he could have suggested driving– although he didn’t have his van– it would have just been a quicker solution had he been able to do it. But the walk, with the company you had, and the pleasant enough weather, was actually kinda nice. That was what made the journey feel shorter than it was.
“This is his house?” you checked, stopping at the end of the driveway of a small, one floored home. You didn’t like being so out in the open, where so many people lived. It had been years since you had ever seen a home like this, and you couldn’t say it was missed. He nodded, confirming for you. With that confirmation, you felt like you had been given the confidence to go and knock. “Let’s go get you fixed.”
Eddie conveniently left out the fact that this ‘Dustin’ was a child.
When the front door opened, you found your eyes trailing down to find the individual who answered. He was shorter than you were, looked a lot younger too, and it had you shooting Eddie a weird look. Why was he friends with a preteen? You thought he was your age. “Are you Dustin?” you questioned.
The curly-haired kid sent a similar look to the one you did, between you and Eddie. “Yeah… What’s going on?”
You exhaled a shaky breath. This whole thing would be so much easier if your new friend would take the lead and explain everything. You didn’t want this kid to think you were some psycho who kidnapped his friend or something. “Do you think we could come inside to explain?”
For a second he was hesitant, but then like Eddie upon your first meeting, he ignored all possible signs of stranger danger and welcomed you both in. You supposed it helped his case that you were with someone he knew (holding hands also), the same couldn’t be said for Munson. You thanked the boy with a warm smile, ignoring the look he gave you when he took in your outfit as you passed. You didn’t look like any other girl he saw around Hawkins, yet in a weird way, it was exactly what he expected Eddie’s taste in women to be like. The dark clothes, flashy jewelry and overall flamboyance of your style.
The three of you sat down in Dustin’s living room. You and Eddie sat side by side, your hand still firmly gripped in his, only it now settled in his lap. It was practically in a death grip that he didn’t seem to be thinking of letting go of. The kid sat on the armchair turned towards the two of you, his lips pursed tightly together as he waited for someone to speak up. It became evident soon after that he was going to have to break the silence though.
“Eddie, what’s going on?”
If his plan for this entire talk was to direct his questions to his friend, none of you would get anywhere with it. “I think it’s better I explain this actually,” you laughed, nervously. Your laugh made Eddie laugh, which only furthered how disturbed the poor child was. “Long story short, I’m a witch, I accidentally gave Eddie a love potion, and I can’t find a reversal. He said you might be able to help.”
His jaw slacked, eyes widening as he stared at you. It was like he was trying to peer into your soul, like he’d be able to tell if you were actually telling him the truth that way— like he’d be able to see the magic inside you. “You’re a witch?”
His amazement was clear. “Let me guess, you want me to do a spell?” He didn’t even need to say it. If Eddie, a man that seemed like a nerd, needed to see you physically prove your ability, then this kid who was definitely a nerd, would absolutely die to see it. It was getting old fast. You didn’t like feeling like some sort of circus attraction. You were just hoping they had no other friends that would make you do this. Or if they did, ones who would accept ‘no’ as a perfectly fine answer.
“Please.”
Not much persuading was needed for you to agree. As you began to mutter under your breath, you could see him clearly bouncing his leg with excitement. You guessed it was nice to be able to create such joy in a person. Despite your previous annoyance, you chuckled to yourself as his nose turned into that of a pig. It wasn’t a spell you got to do often, what with a lack of interaction with others, but each time you had done it, you cherished the joy you got from it.
At first he was unaware of what was different. It wasn’t until Eddie pointed it out that he realized. “Dude, your nose!”
He thought this was the moment when he would regret allowing some strange person in his home. The older boy’s tone didn’t fill him with much confidence that this would be good. He frantically searched for a mirror, finding one inside his mother’s purse that hung by the front door. Upon seeing that his own nose had been replaced by another, he let out a loud laugh— mainly of amusement. It was hard to tell whether that was good or bad, and you worried you might get in trouble. But he quickly repressed your worries a moment later. “This is so awesome!” he cheered, having Eddie join in with the excitement. “I have to call Steve”.
You were so distracted with them that you almost let that slip by you. It wasn’t until alarm bells started going off in your head that you realized what had been uttered. “No, no! Don’t call Steve.” The more people who knew you weren’t just some myths Hawkins high students made up, the more danger you were forced into. You didn’t even want to be this far away from your home right now, but you had no choice. If you had it your way you would have never even met Eddie.
The blue eyed could see the horror written across your face, and he took his energy down a notch. “Oh, uh, he’s harmless. He wouldn’t tell anyone. I promise.” It took longer for you to give in to him this time, specifically because it was your safety and privacy at risk. He could see you were hesitant, so he kicked at Eddie’s foot, hoping he would pitch in and vouch for Steve, considering he was the only other person here that knew what he was like.
“He’s a little douchey, but he can keep secrets, sweetheart.”
The pet name took you a little off guard, but you let it slide. You sighed, giving up. “Okay. If you think he can help, call him.”
And though he did end up being harmless— a little ditzy if anything— he did tell people. Two people to be exact. Nancy Wheeler and Robin Buckley. They were polite, more so than Dustin and Eddie. If they were dying to see you perform some sort of witchy act, they didn’t let it be known, they at least kept that to themselves. The other boy on the other hand, not so much. He was pacing, while you explained what happened, shooting you odd looks every now and then. You could tell he was desperate to ask.
You tried to ignore the curious gazes, but then you decided enough was enough. “Fine. I’ll do one spell and that’s it.” So you did, a quick little thing, showcasing some sparkles from your hands that left them all stunned, and then you were quickly moving on. “Well, now that’s all out of the way, let’s get to work,” you announced.
Dustin and Steve took to the kids computer, hoping they could find something on the internet. The odds were minimal, but it was worth the shot. One of the two girls suggested they head to the local library. If anywhere was going to have information on potions, it would be the ancient library in the middle of downtown Hawkins. If so many supernatural things had happened in Hawkins for so many years, then surely there had to be something on witches, even if it just told of a book that might have the answers for you.
You just needed to rack your brain pretty much, and keep an eye on Eddie to make sure he didn’t do anything stupid. Occasionally you would shoot down a suggestion when you knew it wouldn’t work, but aside from that you didn’t give much input.
By the end of the night, well into the early hours of the morning by now, there were only two of you left awake. The two girls had passed out first, their eyes tired from all the reading they had been doing over the course of the day. Then the kid was next, nodding off at the computer until you insisted it was okay for him to head to sleep. Shockingly, Eddie was next, though it was no surprise that he fell asleep beside you on the couch. His head was practically in your lap, and you couldn’t seem to suppress the urge you had to stroke his hair. To say he was the one under the control of the love potion, you were certainly feeling a certain way towards him right now. You couldn’t quite put your finger on what that feeling explicitly was either.
That left just you and Steve, an awkward silence settling over the two of you as you both stuck into your own research. Though it appeared he wanted to say something, what with the way he kept heavily sighing every few minutes. “What’s up?” you asked, getting tired of the constant interruption to your thoughts.
“Does it not just wear off eventually?” Steve asked.
You sighed, shaking your head. Only spells worked that way unfortunately, or things would have been a hell of a lot easier. “I wish. If I can’t find a way to reverse it, he could be stuck like this for who knows how long.” The way you looked at him could almost be labeled as longingly. You wouldn’t be too happy if that was pointed out to you though. His friends must have hated you for this. You knew you wouldn’t have taken too kindly to something if someone had essentially cursed your friend.
“I really didn’t mean to. I need you to know that.”
The brunette frowned, eyes leaving the computer to look at you instead. He noted how apologetic you looked, the guilt that festered in your eyes. He didn’t mean to make you feel bad, not a single person in this room did. “We know,” he promised. “Eddie, he uh, he gets himself into trouble all the time, it’s shocking that this hasn’t happened before.” You chuckled, some of that tension leaving your body that you knew you weren’t being blamed. “If we had to take a vote, we’d all agree he would be the one to stumble across a witch first, too.”
“Should’ve bet money on it while you could,” you joked.
You could physically feel the light-hearted energy leave the room again only seconds later. Gone were the jokes and the teasing, Steve was back to being serious. “We’ll figure this out,” he told you, his gaze on you never wavering. He meant it, and you could tell.
“I know we will. Thank you, Steve.”
»»——⍟——««
For the last two days, you had been as patient as physically possible with Eddie. It was your fault he was in this lovesick state anyway, you couldn’t blame him for the repercussions of your actions. So you’d been sucking it up so as to not yell at him. But that could only go so far. Eventually, you would just have to step away before you literally exploded. So you did. After twenty-four straight hours of being awake to find a solution, you had to go home just to get a break from his incessant bugging.
You thought you’d been sneaky about it, packing up any of the information you thought might have been able to help you, but it turns out Dustin had seen you. He was confused as to what you were doing. For a second he was also worried that you might just be leaving, to be dumping Eddie on them without ever finding a solution for him. “Where are you going?” he asked.
“I’m, uh, gonna head home,” you announced, catching the attention of the rest of the small group. You didn’t realize how shy it would make you to have that many eyes on you at once. “Just to see if I have any other books with anything in. I’ll come back,” you assured.
There was a chorus of understanding, though Eddie didn’t join in on that. He didn’t like the thought of you leaving him. He didn’t really get a say in it though. Instead, he had no choice but to watch as you headed out Dustin’s front door, offering them all a swift goodbye for who knows how long. Now that you were out of his sight, as cliché as it sounded, he felt sort of empty.
Back in the peace and quiet of your own home, you could think better. However, just because you could think more, didn’t mean any more progress was being made with your research. Your spell book was pulled back off of the shelf, letting you read and re-read the page that contained the ingredients for the love potion. All you came across was a simple statement towards the bottom of the page, not really a practical method of reversal, it was actually rather useless. The only way to undo the effects of the potion, were for the individual to either die or actually fall in love with the first person they saw after drinking the potion.
Unfortunately, you didn’t get to be alone for long. A simple knock at your door almost pulled a loud groan from you. Not only were you tired, barely staying awake long enough to finish the page of the old book you were reading, but you really didn’t feel like having a conversation with anyone right now. It didn’t matter who it was, you didn’t know if you could stand seeing anyone right now.
You hoped if you stayed silent, they might just go away. That was what you would do if no one answered the door after you knocked.
This individual didn’t seem like the type of person who was going to take that as an answer. Their knuckles rapped against the door again, and again, and again until you got up to pull it open. It wasn’t that much of a shock to you that the man standing on your doorstep was the curly-haired ‘maniac’ you had been trying to purposely avoid.
“Eddie. Hi, what’s up?” You put on your nicest voice, hoping to not let it shine through how exhausted you were about everything. You felt for him, you did, you knew he couldn’t help the magnetism he felt towards you, but that didn’t make it any less annoying. “Did you guys find anything?”
He shook his head. You physically deflated.
“So, why are you here?” You thought that alone might have sounded a little harsh and that hadn’t been your intention. Quickly, you tried to make it better. “What do you need?”
He briefly looked panicked, but then his face visibly relaxed. “I fell. Hurt myself. Think I got a bloody knee and some scrapes on my palms.” He motioned downward momentarily, but not long enough to allow you to take a thorough look. “Was hoping you might be able to patch me up, kiss it better. Please.”
You narrowed your eyes at him, letting them trail over his figure once again, before you came to your final conclusion. “I don’t see any blood,” you pointed out.
There was that fear again. “I got lost.” His change of story made you chuckle. You wanted him to just come out and say it, tell you why he was really here, you didn’t need the whole beating around the bush thing he was doing. Things would be so much simpler, so much less frustrating if he was honest with you.
“You got lost the exact route way as you did yesterday?” you asked, entertaining this rouse he was keeping up.
It wouldn’t have taken a genius to recognise that you weren’t believing a word that was coming out of his mouth. He sighed, dropping his act. “Okay, fine,” he huffed. “I- Honestly, I just missed you.” His confession sounded heartfelt, and you hated that it tugged at your heartstrings a little bit. If you were previously going to deny him entrance to your home, after hearing those words, you were no longer doing that.
You huffed. “Come in,” you instructed.
The smile on his face was so wide that you were genuinely unsure how he hadn’t hurt his face. It was blinding. He was practically skipping up the steps of your home after getting the okay. You rolled your eyes, but you couldn’t lie to anyone and say you weren’t slightly joyous about spending time with him.
You had barely closed the door before he was getting himself comfortable. It was the same chair he had found himself in for hours the other day. A blanket was tugged over his lap, and he shuffled into the chair until he was all cozy and content. He looked impossibly warm, and if you were a weaker person you might have joined him. He for sure would have let you. But instead, you took to teasing, finding it rather sweet how his cheeks would tint pink when you said just the right thing.
“Making yourself comfortable, huh?” you tormented, wiggling your eyebrows curiously.
You felt your heart soar when his face did exactly what you had expected, glowing a bright shade of pink, bordering on red. He shrunk further in his seat, more than you thought was possible. If he buried himself any further, you were sure the floor would swallow him whole.
“I just thought–”
“Don’t worry about it, Eddie. I was kidding.” When he got a good look at the expression on your face, he visibly relaxed, able to see you really were playing around with him. The more the two of you stared back at each other, the more something flickered inside you. It scared you a little, it wasn’t something you were supposed to feel, so you tried to push it to the back of your mind. “Uh, so, I could actually use your help. I think.”
“Oh yeah?” He perked up at the idea of you needing something from him.
“Dustin told me about the game you like–”
“Dungeons and dragons,” he corrected. It was essentially useless for him to throw that in there, but he felt like he needed to do it anyway. It was more than just a game to him.
“Yes, that. He, uh, he said it has a lot of magic and stuff in it, I guess I was wondering if you had any input on what we should do?” It was probably a long shot. How would some made up fantasy game for kids be able to solve your very real problem?
You hadn’t realized that question would open up an endless discussion on Eddie’s part about every nook and cranny of this game. It didn’t matter that you didn’t understand a word of what he was saying, the way he talked about it with such passion was so endearing. You found that you couldn’t take your eyes off him, he was so animated that you could tell this was one of his biggest interests. You had yet to see him act this way about anything else– well, other than you, but that was your fault.
The rest of the night was spent stuck in that conversation. If it was anyone else you would have made an excuse to get out of it hours ago, but you were actually asking questions and throwing in your two-cents for him every now and then. And somehow, possibly the worst part of it all, you even agreed to let him teach you to play sometime.
It was that that made you realize there was something stirring inside of you when you thought about him, or saw him, or talked to him. This stupid potion had done something you really hadn’t expected, it had sparked feelings in not only him, but you too.
You were getting feelings for Eddie Munson.
»»——⍟——««
Days passed by with yet no more progress on a solution. The only thing that had actually made any progress at all, were your feelings toward Eddie. Before, you wouldn’t normally have glanced his way, but now you found every small act he did to be charming and you couldn’t take your eyes off of him. He had been spending a lot more time with you, and much to your original dismay, you had begun to not hate it as much as you did in the first instance.
He was a lot easier to talk to than you had originally expected. Aside from the random compliments and the insistence to do sweet gestures for you, he was actually pretty cool. You were happy that he would be the first ever friend that you made. You couldn’t have thought of anyone better to do that job. But he didn’t want to be just friends, courtesy of the accidental love potion of course.
For the last couple hours, he had been non-stop pestering you. You were trying to ignore him, but the longer he kept going, the more your patience wore thin. By the time the clock hit six-thirty, signaling the three hour mark of this badgering, you had enough. “What do you want?” you groaned, abandoning your research in exchange for looking at him. It wasn’t like you’d actually been that involved in your reading anyway, you were becoming less and less encouraged the longer you came up empty.
“Go on a date with me,” he said. It was so blunt that it surprised you.
You laughed. “What?” Of all the things he had asked you or done under the control of this potion, he had yet to do something like this.
“One date,” he begged, hands clasped together as his eyes pleaded with you. He was on his knees now, looking up at you with those cartoon-esque eyes that you had no idea how anyone said no to. You were not about to be the first one to tell him no, not when he was looking at you like that. “Please, Y/N.”
You wanted to deny him, to shake your head, brush him off and tell him he was being silly, but a part of you didn’t want that. Instead, a part of you wanted to see what a date with Eddie Munson consisted of. “Fine. Tomorrow night.”
He cheered, practically fist bumping the air. You winced, shaking your head as you ushered him out of your home, telling him to spend the night back at his home for a change. The man you had learned to be his uncle was surely worried about him by now. He had barely been home all week. “But for now, I want you to go home,” you told him, with the most serious expression you could muster. It would have been much easier if he stopped looking at you with those big puppy eyes.
“See you tomorrow, beautiful.”
By the time tomorrow night rolled around, you hated to say that you were a little excited to see him. You had gotten all dolled up, hoping– praying– he would notice. You hated that you were relying on the opinion of someone you barely knew, but you had quickly grown to enjoy hearing his compliments.
You were ready much too early, taking a seat on the edge of your bed, just sitting there in silence as you waited for the knock on your door. There were nerves swirling around in your stomach. This was supposed to just be something that would quell Eddie’s bugging, relaxing him enough that he laid off to let you work for a while. But now, it felt more real. It didn’t feel like a chore, it felt like something you wanted to enjoy. You didn’t know what that meant.
You didn’t get the chance to question what it meant though before a knock sounded on your door.
“Just, be normal,” you muttered to yourself, letting out a breath as you headed for the door. You reminded yourself that standing on the other side of the wood, it was just Eddie, the same one you had been getting to know over the past few days. He wasn’t scary or mean or anything, he was just sweet Eddie.
With that in mind, you pulled open the door, smiling at him warmly. He looked cute, more put together than he usually did, you could’ve sworn he’d even tried to do his hair. It looked more tame than it usually did, and it made your heart grow at the idea of him putting that much effort in for you. “Hey, you look… gorgeous,” he said, an airy edge to his voice.
“Thank you. Seems you clean up nice too.”
His cheeks flushed a little at your words. You hadn’t given him a compliment before. It was sort of a nice change of tune for the two of you. As much as he would have loved to relish in it for the next two whole days, there was only a certain amount of hours left before Eddie’s plans all went to shit.
“Are you ready to go?” he asked. Even if it did mess up his plans, he would wait for hours for you if you needed him to.
“Yeah. All good, let’s go.” Despite the enthusiasm you showed, you were freaking out about the location you were going to end up in. Depending on how far away it was, you didn’t know that you could take the anticipation. “Where are we going?” you asked. You were a little nervous that he would take you somewhere open and public. You weren’t the most liked individual amongst the town of Hawkins, and you didn’t feel like spending your evening being mocked or taunted by strangers. If he had planned something as such, you would feel bad, knowing he was obviously excited for it. But, you’d have to say no.
He took his eyes off of the floor to flash you a sweet smile. “You’ll see,” he said. Though he quickly regretted looking your way when he tripped over a fallen log in his path. He heard you attempt to hold back a laugh, but considerably failed when you began to giggle. “Hey. Not funny.”
“It was a little bit funny,” you said. The joy on your face made it much too hard for him to argue against you.
“Okay fine, a little funny. But, if you trip at any point, just know I’m not helping you,” he warned. You rolled your eyes at the pretend irritation on his face, nudging him with your shoulder.
He broke out into a much happier expression after that, and just like the other day, shyly asked if he could take your hand again. You had no issue in doing so. Actually you found it rather comforting.
For the rest of the journey to wherever it was you were going, your hands stayed intertwined with one another's. The warmth from his hand was comforting, as was the secure touch. Living alone in the middle of the woods, you didn’t get much human contact of any kind.
“Okay, we’re almost there,” he told you. He’d forced the both of you to a stop, blocking your view beyond the trees so you couldn’t make any guesses of where you were. He wanted it to be a complete surprise, and he was even going to take a step further to really make sure. “Close your eyes,” he instructed.
“Close my eyes? Eddie–” you began to protest. He didn’t want to hear it though.
“Just do it.”
You sighed, dramatically, just to let him know that you really didn’t want to do this. But you did it anyway, because he asked you to. That was all the prompting you needed. You let your eyes close under the belief that he wouldn’t let you fall or bump into anything. He reached for your other hand, just so he had a sort of better grip on you. “This better not be your way of getting payback for me laughing at you earlier. If I trip, I swear to god, Munson.”
“I won’t let that happen,” he promised. And you trusted him.
Your eyes were only closed for a few minutes, maybe two at tops while he led you through the shallow gathering of trees until there was a clearing. “Okay,” he positioned you in front of him so you could see when you opened your eyes. “Open.”
Lover’s lake was a place you rarely ever visited. You’d been there maybe once or twice, and knew of the rumors about it from around town, but you couldn’t say you ever found much of a reason to be there. “Is this what I think it is, Munson?” you asked. Half of your question was teasing, the other half genuinely wondering if he’d brought you to a makeout spot for the same reason everyone else came to this place.
He seemed horrified that you might have thought that was what he was implying. “No, oh god, no– I didn’t mean–” Your laughter put a cap on his worrying, the man realizing you weren’t actually mad at him or anything. “Right. You were kidding. Uh, I brought you here to star-gaze, actually.”
“Star gazing?” you asked, eyes sparkling as you looked at him.
His eyes flickered over to you shyly, unsure whether that was a good or bad reaction from your tone of voice. “I thought we could lay by the edge of the lake, watch the stars for a little while. Witches like stuff like that, right?”
“Right,” you confirmed. You were very much still looking at him like he wasn’t actually real. He certainly didn’t feel real now that he was here and acting like some classic romance movie love interest.
He didn’t say anything else, instead just tugged you in the direction of the edge of the lake. He laid down first, a little uncomfortable on the grass, but he didn’t overly mind. You took a second to join him, but when you did you were startled by the view of the sky you got through the tops of the trees.
It was clear from the get go that he had no idea what he was talking about. He was attempting to point out the constellations, but he wasn’t even getting the names right, let alone the positions the stars were supposed to be in. You listened though, didn’t correct him either. It seemed like he liked informing you about these things, just to see the way you hummed with interest, or egged him to continue talking.
He would have gone for hours, until the sun came up fabricating all these lies about the arrangements of the stars and their meanings, if the sky hadn’t clouded over, effectively blocking your sights of all of it.
“Well, what do we do now?” he complained. He hadn’t intended for this to happen, but he couldn’t really control the clouds in the sky, (unfortunately). He didn’t have much of a choice but to deal with it.
The pout on his face was rather cute, you thought. Luckily for him, you were more than capable of whipping something up to keep you both entertained. If he wanted to stargaze, you would make sure that he could. And the gasp that left his mouth when he first saw the stars appearing right above his head was definitely worth it. He hadn’t realized you had such an ability, but now he was inching towards disbelief that he had planned the date, yet you were the one saving his ass.
The twinkling stars above his head made him laugh, one that was laced with disbelief. If he had known you had the ability to create such beautiful, out of this world projections like this, he would have asked you about it a hell of a lot sooner. “I thought you said you didn’t have a magic wand to cast spells like this?” he asked. He’d been under the impression that you couldn’t do fun little spells, that the only ones you were able to do were the ancient ones scribbled down in that spellbook of yours– all of which sounded pretty intimidating.
“I don’t. But that doesn’t mean I can’t do fun spells when I want to. I like keeping these ones to myself.” The smile on your face looked genuine, and Eddie couldn’t help but feel a certain way because of it. Though he should have been looking at the effort you were putting into the projection, he couldn’t take his eyes off of you. He knew this was different, different to the first time he’d looked at you under that spell and felt a whole rush of emotions. Those emotions had been spurred on by the potion, but these ones, these ones were real. He wasn’t sure how much more of that thing was in his system anymore.
You could feel his stare burning into the side of your face, and as much as you tried to ignore it, it didn’t work very well. The projections all of a sudden halted above Eddie’s head, and he knew why the second your eyes locked. Your faces were close, closer than you had expected them to be when you’d turned your head. Your noses were almost touching.
“Eddie,” you whispered. You didn’t want to do anything rash if this wasn’t really his feelings talking. But he just shook his head, refusing to let you speak. He didn’t say anything either, instead he just closed that final piece of distance. You hadn’t thought you would have ended your night with kissing Eddie, and you didn’t think this was how kissing him would feel either. But it was like a dream. You had always dreamed of experiencing one of those kisses you saw in the movies or read about in those books you liked so much. It truly was the out of this world experience they all described it to be, but due to your circumstances, there were underlying issues that you were trying to ignore.
The night ended shortly after the first kiss, with him acting extra gentlemanly and walking you home, and although it could have been just as sweet and blissful as the way there, but you were much too caught up in your own head.
You felt terrible. Guilt was building in your stomach by the moment as he walked you back to your home. He was chatting away, rambling on about who knows what. You couldn’t bear to listen, you were too caught up in your own head– your own negative thoughts– to even think about the words leaving his mouth. Was this considered taking advantage of the poor guy? Did he really want to kiss you? The more you considered it, the more you wished you hadn’t done it.
»»——⍟——««
After your date, you tried to avoid Eddie. It was the guilt more than anything, plus a slight fear that if— not when considering you were still at a loss— you got this potion to wear off, he was going to hate you.
He didn’t seem to want to leave you alone though. It was still a daily thing that he showed up at your house, and it was very rare that you let him in. Most of the time you just pretended no one was home. After a while he caught on, it wasn’t like you would go anywhere out in Hawkins anyway, and there weren’t that many places that nobody frequented. If your fear was seeing other people, that didn’t leave you with many options.
“Y/N, come on. I know you’re in there,” he whined, rapping his knuckles on the door repeatedly. “Just tell me if I did something, please.” You didn’t know if it was his words that made you open the door, or the incessant, annoying, sound of his knocking.
With a deep sigh, you realized you couldn’t hide from him forever.
You built up your courage, telling yourself that if he was angry with you, all you needed to do was apologize, then hopefully you could go back to the blissful affections you had for one another. Despite the nerves swirling in your stomach at the idea of seeing him again, you still pushed yourself to your feet, closing the gap between you and the door. You muttered a few words of encouragement under your breath, then tugged it open. Coming face to face with him this time, was the same as every other time. You got the same flutters in your chest seeing his smiling face.
You felt bad that you couldn’t show him more excitement through your expression. “Hey. What’s up?” you greeted, simply.
He laughed, head cocking to the side slightly. “What’s up? Where have you been for the last few days?” His mood seemed to be light and airy, how he’d been around you for a while now.
A smile was forced onto your face, one that you hoped was convincing enough not to hurt his feelings. “I, uh, I’ve been trying to find a solution. I’m still coming up empty, pretty much.” If anything, it made you feel even more guilty to admit. In reality you had been daydreaming about the kiss you’d shared for much too long, you’d had barely any time to work on what you promised you would. It basically looked like you weren’t even trying. If you had really been dedicating all this so-called time to this task, surely you should’ve figured it out by now.
“Oh, that. Yeah, don’t worry about it.”
Your brow furrowed, eyes squinting at him. How could he just brush it off like it didn’t even matter? Did he suddenly, somehow not care that he was in this position? You laughed, shaking your head in confusion. “Don’t worry about it? Eddie, how could I not, you- the only reason you’re here right now is because of me.”
He couldn’t lie to you any longer, not that he was lying exactly, he just wasn’t giving you the full story. “About that, uh, it actually wore off, a couple days ago.”
The words made it feel like your entire reality was crashing down. You weren’t sure what to think about it. “What?” you questioned, unsure if you’d heard him right.
He had the biggest grin on his face. You didn’t think he’d ever looked more innocent and cheery than he did right now. “The potion. It wore off a couple days ago. I think I could have actually fallen in love.” Now that he’d repeated his previous statement, and given you a brief explanation (though one you didn’t ask for), you were aware that you had heard him correctly, and it managed to make your blood boil as much as it did the first time around.
You didn’t even know where to start with your yelling. “You lied to me,” you said. It was more like a realization to yourself than a dig at him. At least the first time you said it. “The second time came with a rough hit to his chest. You lied to me!”
He took a step back, eyes widening at how loud and angry your voice had suddenly gotten. He’d been expecting you to react positively to that, not like this. All you had been wanting since you met him was for this to wear off, and now that it finally had, you were upset with him? He didn’t understand where he’d gone wrong. “Y/N, I—“
You shook your head, eyes squinted at him angrily. “You don’t get to try and explain yourself. Do you know how guilty I felt, Eddie?” It was rhetorical, but you had opened his eyes to a whole new wave of understanding. He hadn’t thought of it that way. It made a hell of a lot more sense as to why you were so shocked he’d waited days to tell you. “I can’t believe you would lie to me about this.”
There was a painful attempt to backtrack on his part. “No, no, I–” But you weren’t willing to listen to it for a second.
You scoffed. “Was any of it true? Were you ever really feeling any effects or did you just want to be another one of those people in this town who makes fun of me!” Of all the people you thought would do this to you, Eddie wasn’t one of them. You’d trusted him when you apparently shouldn’t have, it felt like a betrayal.
“Y/N–”
“No. You don’t get to stand there and lie, or give me some shitty excuse.” Even if you could have heard him out and found out a lot more about the situation, you didn’t want to. You were done with listening. Your own anger was clouding your ability to think smartly. Not that he deserved you acting like the bigger person right about now. “Just, get out of here, Munson.”
The way you spat his last name made his chest burn, able to sense the hatred and the anger coming off of your body in waves. You didn’t waste any more time before slamming your door in his face, letting your emotions shine through once you could no longer see him. He could probably hear the sound of your upset and frustration through the door, but you didn’t bother yourself thinking of how he felt right about now.
As for Eddie, he was still in a slight bit of shock. Everything in the last few minutes had just happened so quickly, that he struggled to process how he could have fucked off so badly, so fast. “Shit,” he cursed. And he definitely had no idea that would be the last time he saw you for a while. But every single person would hear about it in his life until he came up with a solution on how to make things better.
»»——⍟——««
For the last few weeks, Eddie had been trying to catch you to apologize. The first few days, he was advised by his friends to let you have some space. But after that he couldn’t help himself. He knew where you lived, and you didn’t exactly go out much, so he thought it would be simple, but either you were staying elsewhere, or just refusing to open the door. It hurt him to think you were doing one of those things, especially if the purpose was to avoid him. He should have just been honest with you, not drag it out like he did. It was all his own fault. All his friends agreed on that one piece of information.
Through all types of weather over the next month, rain, heavy wind, sunshine, he sat outside of your home, hoping you would let him in to talk at some point. But you didn’t, you just listened, unbeknownst to him. For all he knew he was talking to an empty home.
“I meant what I said, about actually falling in love with you,” he admitted. “I don’t know how, or when, it happened. But it did. And I really want to apologize for not telling you sooner.” His tone sounded so genuine. The words felt like a stab to the chest, a frown curling on your lips at the idea of shutting him out after that admission.
He was starting to get through to you and you hated it. There was a brief moment where you considered opening the door to face him, but you decided that was a lapse in judgment. Last minute you decided against it. “I’m just gonna leave this here. It’s a letter, and I really hope you decide to read it.”
You waited until you didn’t hear the crunching of twigs or leaves any longer, telling you that he’d officially left. Knowing he’d finally figured his way from your home back out of the woods, actually made you smile a little bit. It reminded you how much progress he had made over the last couple weeks, since you first met. After he was gone, you let your curiosity get the better of you, opening the door to see the exact letter he was talking about sitting on your doorstep. Your name was scribbled in terrible handwriting, but that just confirmed to you it was actually written by Eddie.
You broke the seal of the envelope it was in, pulling out the piece of folded paper that he had used to write his feelings.
When you looked down at it, there wasn’t much on the paper, but it was heartfelt to say the least. He spoke about how that first time he saw you, there was a spark of something in his chest, whether it was because you were a pretty girl his age or not. He promised you that he wasn’t pretending at first, the effects of the potion had very much started as real, but over the week that followed, they had slowly begun to fade away. It was just like you had shown him in that book of yours, the potion wore off when the individual really fell in love with the first person they saw.
You knew it was down to you that he’d had to apologize this way. If you’d opened the door for him at any point then he might have said these things to your face. But you promised yourself, the next time he came knocking, even if you didn’t forgive him right away, you would at least hear what he had to say. You hated that you wanted to forgive him.
That time came the following day, when you were letting the stray cat, who’d you given the name Norman, back outside after you fed the poor thing. That was when you saw Eddie. He was sitting up against a tree nearby, looking visibly distraught. You had no idea how long he’d been there, but you could tell he was shivering, so it might have been a while.
When he heard the door open his eyes shot in your direction, wide and hopeful. He was on his feet in seconds, watching as the cat ran off in the opposite direction. He smiled a little at the fact that was the thing he’d been right about when you first met.
“What are you doing here?” he heard you call. He couldn’t figure out if you were annoyed that he’d shown up again, or actually happy that he was here. He didn’t think it would be the second option, even as much as he wished that it was.
“Look, I, I don’t know if you read my letter, but—“
“Eddie,” you cut him off. You didn’t need to hear him delve into a long apology again. His eyes flickered to yours, looking soft and borderline tearful when they locked. It was those same sweet eyes again that made your knees feel weak and unstable. You dislike the effect he was having on you when you were supposed to be irritated with him. It made it more than impossible to stay mad. “I read it. Thank you for the apology.”
He flashed you a tight lipped smile, unsure of what he was supposed to say from there. He wasn’t the best when it came to these types of situations. He had never really had enough friends to piss off the way he did to you, so he hadn’t yet mastered how to apologize to someone he really cared about. After this though, he would for sure learn. He thought the best way of going about his next move, would be to move on.
“I actually found something I was going to show you that day,” he told you, pulling a shred of paper from his pocket. He spoke while beginning to unfold it. “When you mentioned D&D, I thought it couldn’t hurt to see if there was anything there that might help,” he explained. His face lit up a little bit. “I remembered playing with some friends a while back, and I read this thing, somewhere, so I threw in this really cheesy moment where a love potion only wore off… if both people fell in love.”
He handed you the paper now that it was unfolded, the exact page of the book from the library (which he shouldn’t have taken) where those words were splayed out across the page. It was only moments later when you realized what he was implying. Not only had Eddie fallen in love during that week, but you had too, and you knew it. You were part of the reason the potion wore off, without even noticing it.
“Oh.”
The joy that was once on his face left immediately. “Is that a good oh, or a bad oh?” His hands trembled a little bit as he waited for you to answer that question. He was praying for the former, because he thought hearing the latter come from your mouth might actually crush him.
“All that time we spent searching.” You huffed a laugh. “But, it’s a good ‘oh’, I think.”
Getting that confirmation meant he didn’t waste any time, setting his hands on your cheeks and pulling you into the first kiss the two of you had shared in weeks. Just as good as the first time you noted. “Does this mean you forgive me?” he mumbled, pulling away only for a brief second to breathe.
“You’re forgiven. Sort of.”
He didn’t exactly know what that meant, but he was willing to take it anyway. It was better than a straight up no. “I can live with that,” he rejoiced.
»»——⍟——««
It was Eddie who decided you needed a proper first date, one where both parties were fully aware of what they were getting into and their real feelings. Now that there was nothing clouding his head, and there was no guilt needed on your behalf, you thought it would be the perfect time to go ahead with it.
You were heading over to his home first, getting to see the place he lived for the first time, then from there he was taking you somewhere. This time around, in preparation, you had warned him about your fears of heading out into public, so thankfully he had taken that into account. The only person you would have to see tonight, besides Eddie of course, was his uncle. Who seemed like an absolute sweetheart right from when he opened the door.
“So, you’re the friend,” he observed, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips as he looked at you. You were exactly what he expected you to be. His nephew loved making friends that had his shared interests or ‘style’ he supposed. It was just nice for Wayne to see a girl his age for once– possibly a girlfriend, he didn’t know, Eddie hadn’t told him much– rather than a bunch of nerdy kids.
“That I am,” you confirmed.
He nodded, offering you a kind smile. “Kids taking his time doing his hair, he’ll be out soon,” he let you know. “Come on in, you can wait on the couch.”
You chuckled. The idea of Eddie standing in front of the mirror, fixing his hair over and over in the hopes he would look perfect for you and your date. You were confident he had taken more time getting ready today than you had. The thought was entertaining. “Thank you.”
You and Wayne made brief conversation, exchanging basic information and making friendly small talk. From that it was a miracle that you ended up side by side on the couch, an old photo album opened across both of your laps, showcasing pictures of Eddie throughout the years. Every now and then there would be one that you knew he’d hate, one so embarrassing he could kill his uncle for even showing it to you.
That was how he found you both.
When he exited his room, grin on his face at the thought of seeing you, hair styled perfectly, he hadn’t expected to see you and Wayne laughing loudly, especially not over pictures of him.
“What are you doing?” he froze, blood running cold at the sight in front of him.
His uncle beamed, evilly he might add. “We’re looking at you as a baby, kid.” It was obvious, Eddie already knew what you guys were doing, but the older man took a lot of joy in seeing his nephew flush like a nervous child.
“You were so cute,” you gushed. He huffed, suddenly getting the feeling back in his body, which allowed him to storm over that and tear the photo album away from his uncle’s grasp. Wayne laughed at his dramatics, watching the boy put the book back on the shelf, high on the shelf where he thought no one else would be able to easily get it. You knew what his uncle meant now when he told you the kid had always been a drama queen, right from day one.
“We’re leaving,” he announced, taking your hand and shooting the older Munson another glare before the two of you exited the trailer. He didn’t say anything as he led you to his van, or when he opened the door for you, or when he climbed in the driver’s side himself. Only when he had settled, seat belt on and a deep breath exhaled, did he begin to speak. He seemed to be in a much better mood this time around.
“Now that it’s just us,” he began, leaning forward to peck your lips quickly. You smiled, stealing another after deciding the one he gave you was much too quick. “Hi,” he whispered.
“Hi, Eddie.”
There was another beat of silence that surrounded you both before he looked away. He’d just wanted to take another second to admire you before he had to begin driving. And it had been worth it in his opinion.
“You know, I’m never leaving you two alone again,” he said. You knew who he was referring to, and the idea of him actually putting that into place was rather upsetting. You hadn’t known Wayne long at all, but you could already see yourself spending much time with your boyfriend’s uncle. He seemed easy to get along with— especially when he was telling you embarrassing stories about Eddie, (which is the exact reason he didn’t want you near him in the first place). “I’ll make sure of it.”
“And how do you plan on doing that? You know I’m a witch, right? I’ll find a way.”
He rolled his eyes, taking his eyes off the road for a couple seconds to glance your way. You were grinning at him, the smile that always made his heart flutter with pure joy. “I’ll do everything in my power to–” He was confused when he was suddenly cut off. Though it wasn’t in an interruption kind of way, it was more of a ‘my girlfriend just cast a spell and now I can’t speak’ way. He was less than impressed.
You however, were very proud of yourself. That was a spell you never thought you would have gotten to use when you learned it all those years ago. “Much better.” So, no matter how irritating Eddie Munson could be, you were pretty sure that faulty love potion was the best thing that could have ever happened to you.

— he’s absolutely evil when he notices how easy it is to fluster you, he’s doing everything in his power to fluster you it’s crazy. his tsumugi watch in absolute horror as he flirts nonstop. sora is just ^_^ you go!!
— he also loves to surprise you, popping up out of nowhere with the excuse of “magic” (he climbed through the window with the help of tsumugi and sora. they’re still out there please help them.)
— in private he’s just as easy to fluster as you are when it comes to compliments, if you shower him in them he gets red in the face and starts stumbling over his words before he resorts to playful threats. it’s a war over who can fluster the other the most and tsumugi is keeping count as sora sits next to him watching slime videos or something
— tells the oddballs about you. they tease him for his crush and wataru talks about how “love is blooming right before our eyes”. he also unfortunately brings it up EVERYTIME he’s with natsume, with you nearby or not. if you’re with him he’s worse even, talking about how natsume never shuts up about you! you’re both a flustered mess as wataru talks on and on, seemingly oblivious to you two.

I’m going to do a little midnight ramble here. I started writing fan fiction last Christmas and I find it so, so much harder than writing original fiction. You’ve got to take characters you didn’t invent and try to put them into situations that make sense for the background created by someone else and make them respond to those situations in a voice and with motivations you didn’t come up with. That’s fucking hard! The amount of mind-reading that takes? Yeesh!
So many great fan fic writers I’ve met think they’re like not good enough to write original fiction yet. Babes I think all of you are more than ready. If you’re building a world for these characters and telling a coherent story with them, you’re doing so much harder work than pulling characters out of your ass, deciding on your own what their personalities and motivations are, sticking them into any scenario in the universe, and being free to adjust them as you write because nobody met them before you came up with them. Seriously. If you’re one of these kinds of fan fic writers who’s wanted to write original fiction and think you’re not ready? Go fucking do it, you are.
I’m thinking about all this because I am trying to give myself grace as I attempt to wrap up an absolute slog of a piece of fan fiction that’ll come in at around 10k words. I’ve been working on it since late January, technically, and when I started writing fan fic I never thought that I would be this devoted to it. I thought I was going to use it as a sandbox to experiment with writing subject matter and techniques I didn’t want to test on the original fiction I attach my real name to. As it turns out, I really enjoyed telling stories about my favorite little guys, but I find the process absolutely grueling.
For this fic, I can’t tell you how many hours I’ve spent doing things like
Debating how much the trauma responses of occult beings would be like a human trauma response
Debating what sorts of fucked up attachment styles occult beings could/would develop as a result of their trauma
Trying to write quite a lot of consensual explicit sex (a thing I never wrote before December 25 2023) and make it clear that the characters are in love but have the sex be not sexy
Trying to balance several intended emotional strands throughout the story in a way that actually works and doesn’t result in them like canceling each other out or coming together in a story that feels completely disjointed
Trying to keep the writing from being overwrought. And also underwrought
Feeling like there are literally no possible arrangements of words that will hit the way I want them to for every single sentence in this story
Telling myself that this story is stupid and nobody will even want to read it (a thought I legitimately never had about any of my writing before this!)
Asking myself if I’m sunk cost fallacying the amount of time I’ve put into this story and I should just abandon it
Being really mad that some people are popping out like 4k words of fan fiction a week when I’ve spent two months writing less words than that and I’m pretty damn sure it’s nowhere near as good as what they popped out without even stopping to think long and hard about it, given the turnaround time
Thinking about how the more fan fiction I write the less excuse I have for why I’m so shit at this
So uh, I think I’m on the verge of being done editing part 2 of 3 of this thing before having it beta read. Assuming my beta readers don’t appear bored out of their ever-loving minds by it, I’ll finish it, though god knows how long that’ll ultimately take.
I do not regret getting into fan fiction writing, but boy is it driving me crazy.
