honestly I just expect and accept that in a bunch of official media, even including the games with Frontiers to a small degree, will have the odd bits of OOC dialogue with Eggman. there are times where I still go "he would not fucking say that" because there's just no way he'd ever actually say and mean such a thing, would ever say it that certain way, would ever actually feel a certain way to say it in the first place, etc

but my priority now is what were they actually going for and does that part work for his character? sure dialogue is very important and adds a lot, I love writing it the most myself and making it feel exactly like what the character would say and how they'd express it. but it's just highly likely for people to get it wrong from time to time and I personally would say that they are really just occasional and small

overall I'm happy with what all the strongest parts of the writing points towards most and revealed intent by the writers, that's what matters to me. I'd like for all the dialogue and scenes to never miss but there will be times where the odd couple of lines shouldn't have been there or could've been rephrased, vocalized and written in a way that was much more in character for him if anything

but again, I'm happy understanding what they're actually going for and what all the strongest writing and main sources point towards the most. for example, I think game Eggman overall is fantastic as ever. I think there's just some flubs here and there as they explore already existing assets of his character in different ways but will settle into it properly over time and gain more solid footing for the better

as for things like takeovers, it's been OOC for characters since the beginning, they've forgotten facts about the games and/or accidentally replaced them as a result, they've even gotten the names of things in games wrong. it's just simple social media fun lol. but I still enjoy them overall because it's not the solid finalized fully stamped and approved published media like the games

the big writers aren't involved, it doesn't go through tons of checks and changes, they're written fast on a time limit often based on how funny they think it'll be. they made Shadow a Taylor Swift fan ffs XD of course a big majority of the fanbase will treat it like canon, most of those don't play or like the games much anyway. it's honestly out of sight out of mind now, really not interested in fandom shenanigans anymore

I couldn't care less about fandom's wild takes and overemphasis on any sides anymore. all I can say is people will find ways to twist and misinterpret literally anything and it's a losing game lol. my blog is just to gush about Eggman, analyze things, share my thoughts, discuss with those who ask in my inbox/replies and then I leave. it's all become much more enjoyable after stepping back from general fandom

and that's what this post is again now, just my two cents as usual. not directed towards any situation or people in particular, just an overall observation of recent fandom from afar as I've taken a step back and where I stand on it based on focusing on the official media alone and avoiding the opinions of random strangers at any chance I get. the way the world is supposed to be but the internet's existence changed lol

I'm really satisfied and at peace with official Eggman and this is how I handle any small occasional OOC moments. I still understand and like what they're going for based on what all the strongest writing and writer commentary points towards. I don't concern myself with what general fandom thinks and if they latch onto the small OOC parts, they don't have the power to influence anything beyond the social media acc

I also tell myself that sometimes writers on official media aren't as insane and obsessed about Eggman like me to the point I remember every line he's ever said and think very hard down to every last word and the inflections and ways it could be interpreted when writing him lol. so yeah chances are at that, they're gonna have him say some things where I feel it should've been different or removed at times

but again, as long as I'm happy with the official media with its strongest parts and especially the game canon media then it's all good with me!

Nezha Headcanons

Since I got into LMK recently and I'm just HEAD OVER HEELS for the cast. SHOUTOUT TO KYLE MCCARLEY YOUR VOICE ACTING FOR RED SON IS GOLDEN AND ANOTHER TO JOHNNY YONG BOSCH AS NEZHA ANYWAY I'M TRYING TO STAY TRUE TO THE MYTHOS HERE

Nezha is a feminine he/they. They've gotten used to be cisgendered, though, so it doesn't bother them too much anymore.

They find it touching when someone alternates between he and they fairly often, and appreciates it.

Nezha is a fantastic dancer, but he normally doesn't dance, even in the lotus garden where he resides in the Celestial Realm. They're fairly shy about it, but that doesn't show until someone sees them dancing and applauds them. They'll huff and blush, then cross their arms.

Nezha loves doing the caramelldansen, but is even more shy about that than anything else. If you think it's cute when he does that, tell him, and he'll do it more. He's most prone to doing it between combos at the dance machines in the arcade that MK frequently visits.

Calling them 'cute' does one of two things. He either accepts it wholeheartedly as a good thing, or blushes, huffs, may tell the speaker off, but will appreciate it nonetheless. They only get genuinely mad about it when their enemies are present.

Nezha is super blushy. He gets embarrassed/flustered fairly easily and is prone to blushing when they're called any silly or cute nicknames. He's especially prone to blushing when he's happy.

Fucker loves hugs. Squeeze the Hell out of him. He might feign annoyance, but they won't stop you if they like you on any level.

He is only openly wholesome on his off time, which is rare, but still happens a few times a year, normally on Chinese holidays. He still leaves a giant field of lotus petals as an alarm system around his lotus garden, though, just in case.

Once or twice a year, during one of their off days, he'll order noodles for two reasons: One, he thinks they're delicious, and two, he wants to see MK, who is great at reading the stoic deity, so MK knows when Nezha wants hugs.

The only person more ticklish than Nezha is MK, which is why they're mindful of where people's hands are when someone decides to hug him. He prefers being squeezed around the ribs, a few inches under his arms.

Nezha's worst spot is his neck, especially under his chin.

He loses his mind when someone gets his neck. He's not all that used to being tickled, but knows to warn others that he flails around when he's knocked over and tickled. To the point that he might unconventionally knock someone off of them. Doesn't want to hurt anyone.

You'll only get to tickle Nezha if he lets you, because they're more than strong enough to kick you off if they so desire. He's done that to Red Son and Chang'e when they tried to tickle him.

Nezha gives everyone he likes a lotus hairpin set in with his tripwire petals. He always tells them to break the hairpin if they're in trouble, because doing so would set off an alarm in Nezha's head. They'll just know who's in trouble and where they are because of this, so he can rush to the rescue. So far, they've given MK, Red Son, Mei, Sandy, Tang, and Pigsy these lotus hairpins. The pins repair themselves once the holder is no longer in serious danger. They also can be attached to clothes, but are technically hairpins.

He used his powers to place a stamp of approval on Pigsy's advertisement board stand thing, complete with a doodle of Nezha looking like they've never tasted anything more delicious and is taking a moment to pray to Buddha next to the stamp. The stamp's caption is 'Celestial Lotus Seal of Approval'.

Needless to say, Pigsy's noodle shop is busy when it's open to the public because of that stamp.

Nezha also appreciates being treated like a just-barely-a-preteen whenever they're upset, because in a way, he never really grew up past twelve years old.

It means a lot to him when someone who either isn't Chinese or that he doesn't expect to play any musical instrument plays traditional Chinese music for them. It's jarring enough to break their meditation, but they never get mad about that because of the soothing effects traditional oriental music normally has on Nezha. Think compositions you'd expect to hear in a movie scene that takes place in a serene lotus garden during the beginning or end of a movie. Once he gets used to hearing the music being played by the person in question, it will no longer break his meditation, but he will smile in appreciation when he hears it. He's accustomed to silence when he meditates, and not soft, soothing, traditional music that makes them feel more at peace.

The hardest way to win his favor is also a surefire success: Build a lotus garden for him. They may shed a tear into the water, which will supposedly sanctify it. Lotus flowers and everything associated with them hold a special place in the Lotus Deity's heart.

He has the impressive ability to look good in any dress-related or oriental Asiatic style clothes, especially traditional Chinese, though he also rocks floral kimonos.

Nezha's maturity level fluctuates sometimes due to him dying as a child, according to their mythos in actual Chinese literature. Nezha is rarely comfortable speaking about the circumstances of his death, though, so don't ask them. It was messy and no bueno all around. There wasn't a good guy, only different perspectives.

The moment he starts getting emotional and either outright saying that he's a child or that they feel like one, is the nearest person's cue to hug them.

Nezha is super clingy and overall huggy with those they care about, when they know they are allowed to be as such.

The tripwire petals are a concept developed by @deadshadowcreature and here's the link to the comic I borrowed this concept from. Also, I loved the comic.

Tl;dr: Nezha is a preteen dork with the body, partially the mind. and the responsibilities of a grown-ass guardian deity.

queer internet discourse gave me a lifeline when i was very isolated, so i dont see it as all bad, but i do feel like im operating on a different planet than some ppl sometimes. people treat lgbtq identities like objective commodifiable universal truths and rhetorical tools to move around and find the Unifying Truth Of All Things

communities are not static and culture is not fully commodifiable. some ppl seem to crave a stamp of approval, universal awareness that all things gay they're doing are right before God/Science/Morality, that they've gotten the gold star, they've arrived, they've made it. this is not your bachelor's degree. no one is ever going to give you a certificate saying you're universally correct in all of your opinions about ur gender & sexuality. you need to be ok in experiencing your experiences anyway, seeing them have value anyway, that they matter anyway because they happened to you

like ive had to explain to other ppl that they're not exactly the gay police in semi public IRL queer gatherings. in an lgbtq scene that big ur not actually justified in feeling victimized because those other queers "ruin the vibe." that actually makes you kind of a dickhead? you can form ur own friend groups but the thing about actual, public, real communities is that by definition no single person should be controlling who's in & who's out? is that not the fucking point?

also idk man. i literally do belong here, have friends here, got invited here, & u dont need to find some weird abstract ideological reason why i'm infringing on the rights of all the other girlboys by breathing near you

There is a variety a lot of these are muscle cars but people want to use them a lot of times they get in an accident or they find a challenger or charger it's been in an accident and they pull the body off and they use the linkage and some of the dashboard components and they rebuild it it doesn't take that long when you have a full body and they fit pretty good on those types of cars some of these fit very well the 56 Chevy almost fits perfectly on the Dodge charger the Camaro fits on the Camaro or the mustang and the big huge what looks like a Ford Fairlane fits on the Dodge Challenger and these cars go fast for some reason they're lighter than the originals the brand new car so heavier than the old ones really it's nice and they're safe a much safer than fiberglass and we are piggybacking and we're going to stamp out tons of these they're not hard to make they are if you don't have a stamp and ours are very nice there's a very nice too and they make tons of them

So now that we know Kendall and Rava got married quite young (based on Roman's comment in 3x04 that Kendall's bachelor party was 15 years ago, meaning he was 24 or 25 when he got married) do you have any thoughts on how that might have affected Kendall and Stewy's relationship?

Yeah! It was great to get confirmation of that! I already figured they'd gotten married fairly young given Sophie and Iverson are both tweens as opposed to little kids. I think we're supposed to understand they've been separated for a while at the start of s1 too? I'd be curious as to what the timeline is for that specifically, because they imply I think that Rava left Kendall before he got sober, and he and Logan talk specifically about rehab as three years before the start of s1.

Three years isn't that long to be separated pre-divorce though either, especially if somone's like Kendall and doesn't really want to break up. My parents were separated for seven years before they got divorced, and a good friend of mine has been separated for eighteen months already without any plans to actually file yet.

It could be one of the things that was changed though post-pilot too? Shiv's letter in 3.03 certainly made it seem like Kendall's been in rehab a number of times instead of just the one big stint that seemed infered in Logan's dialogue in 1.01, and we got confirmation from both Roman and Connor that the letter was accurate after all.

That's all an aside though, haha.

Your question! Yeah! We know Kendall and Stewy went to both Buckley and Harvard together, and I imagine they both have their MBA's too, so I feel like they had to have been pretty entwined still when Rava entered the picture. I actually headcanon that Stewy introduced them, haha, especially given he's the one deployed by someone to ask Kendall if he and Rava are really separated in 1.03.

I tend to headcanon it as one of those complicated things where Stewy and Kendall had never really qualified what their hooking up meant or what their relationship was, and that it was probably always an unspoken thing that Kendall would be finding a woman his dad approved of and marrying her and that that would be that. It's the sort of thing I don't think Stewy probably cared that much about while they were both sleeping with other people and Kendall was getting way too intense about girls who were never going to pass the Logan Roy test, but I think things were different with Rava too.

I think Kendall really fell in love with her, and her him, and I think it probably stung Stewy, despite himself. Like - - he just figured they had more time than this, right? Who's dreaming of settling down with the chick you meet when you're 21? 22? But Rava's smart and beautiful and maybe Stewy wouldn't care if it didn't start to become apparent that Kendall was - - y'know, telling her stuff. Stuff he's never told anyone except Stewy, and maybe Stewy tried to create some distance, but Kendall latched on in that way he does whenever he feels someone trying to pull away, so maybe Stewy fucked him instead, and okay, that was fine, it was, until Kendall took Rava back to meet Logan, and the stamp of approval was clear even if Rava came back pissed off, and it was only after that that Kendall told him they couldn't anymore. Not now that Rava was the One.

And they're just so young still, and it doesn't matter, because Stewy's not exactly short on options, and it's better Kendall ends up with someone Stewy likes rather than some of the other girls Stewy's been forced to endure the company of, and things are good. They are, at least for a minute, but Kendall doesn't know how to be happy, and Stewy knows when he's self-sabotaging, but he's half-hearted in pushing him back to Rava because there's something to it. Something to the way being Kendall's person again feeds a part of him he didn't realise was still hungry, and besides, they're still young, right?

They're supposed to be having fun.

Stewy always knows how to help Kendall have fun.

(Right up until he doesn't).

“What do you mean you’ve captured Shockwave?” Megatron pinched the bridge of his nose.

Shockwave was dead. Megatron saw him, with his own damn optics, get swallowed by the singularity of his time drive. Gone.

Had Rodimus had a morning drink and gotten confused? That wasn’t like him, but the possibility couldn’t have been discounted out of hand.

Rodimus stood on the other side of the desk, hands firmly planted on his hips. Not the slightest wobble to his stance, so he was certainly not inebriated.

“Doesn’t matter how we got him. We’ve got him now.” Where was he going with this? Rodimus raised a finger, pointing at the ceiling excitedly as though he’d gotten another “brilliant” idea. “And I have just the project for him to work his magic on.”

“So, you know lava lamps?” Rodimus’ voice crackled over the wrist commlink as Megatron walked down to the lab Shockwave had been permitted to use. Of course, he was only allowed out of the brig under security supervision.

“No, I have no idea what that is,” he replied, a note of tiredness in his voice.

“You’ll see when you get here.”

Rodimus had refused to tell him any details of the project he’d gotten Shockwave to work on, as opposed to turning him over to the authorities on Cybertron. It was apparently supposed to be a surprise. Rodimus’ ideas for surprises were almost always the seeds of a fiasco, but it wasn’t as though either Megatron or Ultra Magnus had a chance to intervene. The smaller captain was a force of nature unto himself, a force of nature that used his co-captain to rubber stamp approvals for stupid projects.

All that meant Megatron could in no way be prepared for what he saw upon opening the door to the lab.

Shockwave stood off to the side, his one hand in the process of being cuffed to his waist by one of the present security officers. He looked rather put upon, but before Megatron could really summon any sympathy, Rodimus caught his eye.

The spectacle demanded his full, undivided attention. Jaw slack, he stared at the yellow, oily blobs floating in some red liquid underneath what looked to be clear, plexiglass plating. Rodimus stood, his feet apart, looking unreasonably proud of himself.

“The crew’s going to be so jealous! I bet even you’re jealous that you don’t look this cool.”

BroDave Week, Day 1: Mythology

AN: I am hella late, and this is incomplete, but here we are. Using a prompt from the Stridercest Discord Server.

Dirk called first.

Dave could've ignored it, and was tempted. Not because he was busy, but because he wasn't. He was enjoying a rare moment to himself, stretched out on the clean white sheets of his bed, listening to his own music and counting the wavy lines and whorls of red and green on the ceiling of his bedroom. It was like living in a perpetual Christmas, but he'd gotten used to it. Now, it wasn't a weird color scheme, it was his space. It made him feel peaceful and calm, and there hadn't been a lot of any of that in the three months of settling into their new jobs.

'King', it turned out, was kind of a big deal.

But it wouldn't be fair to ignore Dirk, not when Dirk had answered Dave's calls at all hours of the night. So Dave rolled over and scooped up his phone, tugging one earbud out.

"Sup homeslice?"

"Hey, man," Dirk said. "You at your place?"

"Yep. Kickin' back, listening to some pretty sweet tunes. Not making any monumental, kingly, world-altering decisions, though that'll probably change in the next half hour, seeing as Karkat and Jade use me as a tie-breaker every time one of them gets it into their heads to do so much as change the curtains around here. D'you know how many times we've changed curtains? Twelve. Twelve times. It's like watching Martha Stewart self-destruct in a cocaine, Monster-fueled binge."

Dirk snorted. "I'll trust that you're the Martha Stewart expert around here. But I wasn't calling about her. I was calling to, y'know, kinda... Kinda give you a heads-up."

Dave raised eyebrows at the whorly ceiling. "What, you comin' over?"

"I can if you want, but that's not it. It's about Friday."

"What's Friday?"

"You know, that festival they're having? The one with the banners in the street? The orange and red flags, that logo with the sword and the shield, I know you've seen this shit."

"I wasn't gonna embarrass you by calling attention to this obviously gay party they intend to throw for the coolest members of the Earth-C pantheon," Dave said, grinning. "I'm not into RPF, but hey, if they wanna ship us, I won't tell 'em no. They've been doing it for a thousand years or something already, right? Might as well let 'em keep on with it. I'm no party pooper. Freedom of religion and all that, people deserve to worship what they please, and I'm giving my official stamp of approval. People of Earth-C, please imagine my clone brother and I having hot, sweaty sex. Draw fanart of us. Compose odes to parts of Dirk's body I've never seen and don't ever wish to see. Go for it. Draw dicks. Draw dicks touching. Make everything touch."

"Dave."

"I'm kidding. Well, not about letting them do whatever they're doing that involves us, their gods, but maybe about the dicks touching."

Dirk paused, which meant he was either rolling his eyes and praying for strength, or he was struggling to stay on the line.

"I'm kidding," Dave said again. "Sorry, go ahead. What'd you wanna tell me?"

"The celebration," Dirk said slowly. "It's not about you and me."

Dave's eyebrows went higher. "No? They kinda messed with the color schemes then, big time. Can we sue? Like, red and orange are our official hues, aren't they? I think we can make some kind of legal stand here. Get a court to grant us rights over specific colors in the light spectrum. Do we even need a court? Do we have God Mod powers or something?"

Another pause. "It's about you, yeah. And it's sort of about me, but not me-me. A version of me. That's what the orange is for."

"A version?" This was getting weird. Were the people of Earth-C unsure which Dirk was their god, and so had different days celebrating different slivers? "Which version?"

"Your version."

"My version? Isn't that you?"

"No, Dave. It's... It's about your brother," Dirk said. Dave's heart seemed to drop out of his back, past his ribs, hurtling through the mattress and the floor straight toward the center of the planet. "You and your brother. That's what it's about."

It took Dave four hours to decide that he wasn't afraid, and another four hours attempting to figure out exactly what he wasn't afraid of. It was dark by the time he decided he should stop worrying about what might happen, and concentrate on what would definitely not happen.

Bro was dead. That was a fact.

Bro was not coming back. Probably. No, definitely. Absolutely definitely not.

Bro was crazy, and dead, and was definitely, definitely not coming back.

Even if Dave wanted him to.

No.

Dave did not want that. Bro coming back would be the worst. It would ruin everything. He would ruin everything. Dave had a place and a life and people who expected things of him. He couldn't give it all up, fuck everyone else over, just to go back to Bro.

Not that he would. He wouldn't. Of course he wouldn't. Why would he? Bro gave Dave nothing but pain. There was no reason to want him, no reason at all.

Except his perfect pecs and his tight ass.

Fuck.

With a desperate, abbreviated groan, Dave shoved his hands up under his sunglasses, digging the heels of his palms into the aching soreness of his eye sockets. There was something wrong with him. He knew there was. It was the worst secret of all. Not that his friends would judge him. Well, they might, but that wasn't what scared him. Bro scared him. With his big hands, and his wide shoulders, and his silent, smoldering aura, thick with silent, mocking possibility.

Dave could still remember the way Bro covered Dave's hands with his during their brief soundboard lessons. The touch of those calloused fingers after a strife, threading through Dave's hair, checking his scalp for injuries. The brush of rough thumbs over Dave's cheeks, over his collarbones.

He groaned louder and shoved his sunglasses off, rolling onto his stomach to bury his hot face in the cool pillows.

The juju-colored ceiling hung above him, swirly in his memory, taunting.

If only you could rid yourself of those pesky inhibitions, it seemed to say. If only you could admit to yourself what you wanted. If only you were man enough, you might be free.

It was a lie. He would never be man enough. He would never be as good --

He squashed the thought. It didn't matter. Bro was not coming back. Dave just had to make it through Friday, and everything would go back to the way it was. No more too-honest thoughts. No more re-awakening of long-buried, covetous feelings.

Friday, and then freedom.
