Misc additional observations/notes relating to the implication analysis post that I either forgot to add or omitted for pacing reasons.
This one's embarrassing to admit, but I literally did not remember this until the post was done and posted:
Tumblr media
N being bad at keeping things to himself is literally the first thing we learn about him when he starts talking. "Inclusive reflexes" isn't what teaches Uzi this, it's literally the first thing she finds out about his character, so she has no excuse. There is no plausible deniability she knows her boyfriend can't keep secrets.
Tumblr media
((Unrelated to anything but since I'm talking about the pilot like. Why does he fan himself here. Dude you don't even have feelings for her yet bro what's this about. Guy who really likes strong personalities I guess))
Tumblr media
N's tiny little smile in Promening when Uzi admits to wanting his help. He's like, critically underappreciated by the people around him before this so Uzi reaching out to him here must be so meaningful to him. He wants to be helpful and she's letting him be.
Tumblr media
And Uzi, too, despite being stubborn about it. N being so eager to offer help in the first place isn't something she's used to, either. I'm pretty sure the (correct) general consensus is that this is the episode she falls for him, and honestly all the blushing has very little to do with why I think that's the case.
Because, like...no one really bothered even pretending to get along with her. Like, aside from Thad, but that's for like one scene total before N enters the picture, and Uzi's "how do you know my name, people willingly talk to you" implies to me that they didn't have a lot of, if any, meaningful interactions before that point anyway. And then here comes N, who despite how they'd parted, doesn't even seem upset with her. They both spent their time apart terrified of things being bad between them....but it all just melts away when they reunite and the mutual genuine concern shines through. It's great.
N maybe has fragments of memories of life at the manor, not a lot, but he probably has the vague sense that people used to be nicer to him in general. So it's not as foreign to him. Uzi does not have that luxury so having N be so enthusiastically in her corner definitely touches her heart. And it shows through in how she interacts with him in this episode.
Tumblr media
There's lots and lots of little moments in Cabin Fever that I like but this tiny sheepish blush is a funny one. Like he just. Alluded to talking about her. And that flusters her for some reason. We have no idea how much time has actually passed since the last episode but its clear from how little it takes for this reaction to happen that her feelings have grown stronger. She likes him and its cute.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This scene is one I want to talk about in more detail, though. Home establishes that V still has faint lingering feelings for N, so it's not that hard to assume that her behavior here is at least partially motivated by jealousy. She's petty and vindictive and jealous...but most importantly she's perceptive.
Uzi has abandonment issues, which I think is easy enough to understand so I'm not going to elaborate on it. But V figured that out, and makes this threat with the knowledge that Uzi is worried about being abandoned. Uzi fears the idea that she wouldn't be missed if she disappeared, and here comes V, claiming that the one person she cares most about wouldn't care either. Hitting her where it hurts, trying to convince her that her fears are justified and inevitable.
It's likely that this moment contributes to her eventually going feral. That the stress overheats her faster.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She's incredibly vulnerable, when she snaps out of it. Shares that specific fear with N, who reassures her. Because this whole scene is him telling her that no, he wouldn't be able to just get over it if she was gone, because their brief time apart in this single episode was already something that scared him. That she's already become important enough to him that her absence was keenly felt.
Tumblr media
It's probably around here, or a bit after this point in the nebulous timeskip between this episode and the next, that N falls for her. Scratch that, his whole speech, as I said in the prior post, just...really feels like some kind of romantic-adjacent confession. But I don't think it WAS explicitly them confessing feelings for each other. N figures out he likes her in this episode I'd like to think, but that speech was the closest he could come to admitting that. Cuz. Y'know. Uzi needs reassurance in other ways right now, no point in muddying the issue.
((and also not news to anybody I'm sure but the song that plays during that scene is LITERALLY called 'Falling...for you??' so. y'know. hindsight is 20/20 this is genuinely the moment he realizes his feelings for her are romantic))
Tumblr media
And additional thing I like that I think about a lot, but the way he deliberately choses to switch his hands to claws when he pries her wings open. "I'm a monster, leave me be" she says, to which he replies "Hey, look, I am too, see? It's ok". It's great, he's mirroring, trying to make her feel seen. And by the vulnerability of her next line, it works. They really just, understand each other so damn well.
Tumblr media
Home stuff. The fact that the first word that comes to mind to describe him is 'cute' is funny enough, but the fact that she even goes so far as to SAY it out loud before hastily correcting herself. Looking at her bf's baby pictures-coded. Has to keep her image up tho, this version doesn't know her so she can't be too weird or open about it.
Tumblr media
But she still wants this version to think she's cool cuz she's a dork who likes him. It's unclear how much of this episode is diegetic when you subtract Uzi, but since these are memories and not proper time travel, we don't know to what extent Uzi's trying to avoid affecting the events. She might not care at all. Did the real N even go down to that basement willingly at any point? I doubt it. But we don't know! And also that's not what I'm making this post to talk about.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Funny Solvercam-Uzi body language on display. Delighted he recognizes her finally, spits out something edgy to play it cool (genuinely my favorite Uzi line of all time), sheepishly looks back at him, and shyly averts her gaze when he thanks her before looking back. Had she her regular face I'm sure she'd be smiling and blushing about it. It's cute as hell. It's very open delight, when you think about it. But still awkwardly teenage. It's easy to see this and have it make a whole lotta sense if they were already dating at this point. Got that meaningful eye contact going on. She likes making him happy so she's proud she succeeded.
Tumblr media
Him trying to help steady her when they land. She blushes and slaps his hand away like 'dude I'm fine people are LOOKING at us stoooooop >:('
Tumblr media
Her tail chewing on him is fine tho because we don't know if she controls it fully or if it does things subconsciously. And also the others aren't actually looking at them in this shot. Neither of them make the tail stop chewing so at the very least N doesn't mind.
Tumblr media
Still flustered easily when he shows her he cares tho. Early-relationship 'hehehe he likes meeee' moment, adorable. Still clearly giddy that someone cares about her.
Tumblr media
He's so conflicted after 'Tessa' tells him Uzi needs to die. He loves her, he loves her so so much, but Tessa is his oldest friend. All the memories he has of her paint a picture of someone he's supposed to listen to. Someone he can trust. Someone who wouldn't lie to him. He spends the rest of this episode bracing himself for a goodbye he doesn't want to give and its heartbreaking.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And despite his fear...Uzi still manages to comfort him the best way she knows how. And it gets him to smile! Because that's what the two of them are to each other. He's scared...but she's with him, so its less scary.
Tumblr media
They've both caught up to the moment. 'Oh. We're still holding hands while the other two can see oh god'. They're both tight-lipped. She bumps him and they let go, maybe N thinks 'oh, right, yeah, not in public' but then they hold hands again but with intent this time.
Tumblr media
And once again, it gets N to smile! And a second later Uzi does too! Awkward little moment of intimacy that must be so refreshing for them because there's so much heavy stuff happening but now they get to be distracted thinking about something lower-stakes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To me, this bit is an interesting parallel to the Cabin Fever falling scene. He tends to be pretty perceptive about Uzi's worries. He's a good listener. Uzi fears abandonment, he fires back with a promise to stay with her.
But here, the thing Uzi fears is that things are being kept from her. That these two are keeping secrets from her. But instead of assuring her that they'll talk later, like they said they would, he instead chooses to use this moment to put his foot down with 'Tessa'. He just lost V maybe, and he's not willing to lose Uzi too, so he's decided she must be wrong about this being the only solution to the problem.
Up until that very moment, she didn't realize hurting her was on the table. It comes out of nowhere, freaks her out, and confirms her fear that she's not being told something. So she runs.
Tumblr media
And the guilt he feels for scaring her off is heartbreaking. Half this episode is limb-chopping, genuinely, so the fact that he chooses this bone-saw to cut himself free instead of the litany of other things he has that he knows are quicker can't be a coincidence. He's punishing himself. And, additionally, probably reminding himself of V, hiding things because he worries the truth will hurt. Which makes the V hologram showing up moments later thematically very appropriate.
Can't add anymore pictures to this so maybe I'll make a part three later lol

AVA FERIN MIGHT STILL BE ALIVE
Tumblr media
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS IN GENERAL
HEAR ME OUT, READ BELOW THE CUT AND TELL ME IF IT'S SOMETHING OR IF I'M SIMPLY LOOSING MY SHIT OVER NOTHING... BECAUSE IT MAKES SENSE TO ME—
Fey Ferin wants R.A.F.T to seize control over the world, and there's nothing that can stand in her way, not even her own family.
There might have been a time when Jayson Ferin was a good man. Based on what May says about him and glimpses we get from Jay's early memories (I recall one with the pin), it appears he once was. Perhaps Jayson desired change for the navy too, but that would be such a pain for Fey to deal with. So, she seems to have brainwashed him for months, possibly years by now (ep 79, Gilly detects corruption in him mixed with good energy), molding him into the perfect soldier who doesn't question orders and neglects his family for the sake of helping his mother to carry out this great fucking world domination plan.
Fey likely harbors resentment towards Drey for not being obedient like his brother, opting for a pirate's life over being loyal to his family and their ideals. Yet, Fey can't bring herself to kill him, so she puts him in a top security prison to let him rot instead.
Ava was the ideal soldier—strong, brave, and revered by all. However, for Fey, Ava's kindness, compassion, and desire for change is simply another pain to deal with. But of course, she would not kill her own family. And she couldn't let her just vanish either.
Perhaps Fey suspected that Ava had a soft spot for pirates, given her upbringing in Eagle's Den and being raised by such a softhearted daughter-in-law. But perhaps, on one occasion, someone witnessed Ava together with a pirate, and somehow that information reached Fey. And after learning that her granddaughter, her esteemed captain, had feelings for a pirate from the crew of the last remaining pirate lord she aimed to get rid of, Fey simply couldn't let this opportunity slip by.
Maybe Ava cooperated willingly, fought like hell, or simply was faced with a deal she couldn't refuse. R.A.F.T. wouldn't just eliminate their top captain, such a vital asset for the upcoming war. Instead, they created a doppelgänger, and chucked the real Ava into some top-notch secret confinement. Letting the dopple to become their pawn. A perfect martyred hero to be killed by those bad bad pirates. A perfect excuse to wage a war over.
But the doppelgängers aren't perfect. So when Lizzie tells Ava about a pirate who is like a father to her, Ava doesn't remember. And when Lizzie begs her not to fight, Ava doesn't listen because she doesn't remember the numerous times they sneaked out together to simply talk like normal people do. And when there's an order to shoot, Ava doesn't move away, as she remembers she was only created to destroy and to be destroyed.
Would Jayson know? Probably not. His hatered toward the pirates responsible for his daughter's death would likely fuel his brainwashed self even more. Very convenient for the long run.
Fey might permit her youngest granddaughter to infiltrate the pirates, banking on her own hatered over her sister's death to maybe one day make her an even better soldier than Ava ever was.
But maybe Fey was wrong.
And she knows it when she receives news of her son's escape from prison, and when her other son suddenly takes leave, or perhaps when a navy base on the Black Sea is breached.
So, when her promising soldier begins to rebel, it might be time to reveal the secret that she's been keping. Maybe it will help her granddaughter decide which side to choose in the end.
me rn:
Tumblr media
But idk, that's just my speculation. If it turns out to be a load of bullshit you can point and laugh, but at this point it makes so much sense in that smooth brain of mine as I'm writing this at 7am after getting no sleep whatsoever.
ALSO, just something fun to think over:
In the rolled for 114, Grizz mentioned that the doppel/brainwashing machine had buttons with dates on them. And if pressed, it would display the people who had previously used it. I can't help but wonder if my theory about Ava is true if she might have showed up there. Or maybe it could have shown Jayson getting his fucking brain blasted. BUT WELP, someone rolled like shit (pointsatgillionpointsatgillion) and we'll never know now—

Obviously, I'm just speculating, but taking from what Schneider said last year - I don't think the rest of the guys were ever jealous of Till's solo work. Why would they be? Especially after Emigrate. Richard and Till clearly need a bigger let out than Rammstein can provide, and if it doesn't interfere with Rammstein, then why not? But unlike Emigrate, Lindemann went on tour. Garnered negativity that reflected onto the band. And most importantly, unlike Richard, Till got further away from them. He didn't want to and couldn't spend more time with them as individuals and as a band member. He got a new friend group, new entourage, which integrated into Rammstein and put an even bigger wedge between them. Till even stopped flying with them! And that what might've caused resentment caused by fear. Is Till quitting Rammstein? Is he even still our friend?
And Richard had a fight with Zoran before the backstage bj video which btw was tasteless and lowkey offensive to the band and the crew. Mein Teil is a great video but they've made some masterpieces since then. None of which had to involve sado masochism veiling itself as "being misunderstood".
I've nothing against Till doing what he's doing, he has every right to it but I also believe that last years incident should've been a massive eye opener (not the fucking young women part. He made it very clear with his poem that he doesn't care what we think about that) but that if he wants Rammstein to continue, he cannot lead a double life. Richard managed to separate Rammstein-self and Emigrate-self whilst still maintaining both full time. Till completely failed that, clearly deeply hurting 5 other individuals in the process. It was easier for him to do what he wants and ice everyone out. It's better if they took a long, long break than ruin 30+ year relationship with silence.
As for Zoran. He's just bitter. If post Zoran Rammstein videos are Ali Express, then wtf does that make him? Because no one even knew of him before the band and certainly he's not making any headlines post band. His only saving grace was Till but even then, his Lindemann videos aren't even the best ones..
Hi and thank you for the time and effort you put into writing this out 👋
I will work my way through this message and will add some of my own thoughts to it - this will be subjectiv and not everyone has to agree with everything.
It is true that Till and Richard both needed an additional outlet for their creative processes - the difference is that Till treats his solo project like a normal band and likes to go on tour (Richard mentioned this in one interview once that touring is a vital part for Till's creative life), while Richard treats his more like a studio project. Going out, touring with a stage show like his, putting out videos in this very style which is seen as 'typical Till' by now I might say - all this can serve as a target for misunderstanding, resentment, problems in general.
I do sometimes wonder why he takes these risks (after last summer more than ever). I know he as an artist has his own visions and wants them to come to life, which is his right - but I sometimes ask myself if it's worth it. If it's worth it that others have to deal with the problems his work/behavious has caused. But then again: it's none of my business and he has the freedom to do as he pleases.
I used this ask as an impetus to read Schneider's statement again (something which still triggers me a bit and which i haven't done in over half a year), and Schneider writes this: "Till has distanced himself from us in recent years and created his own bubble. With his own people, his own parties, his own projects. That made me sad, definitely." While I never understood this as being criticism towards Till having his musical side project, I do see it as criticism on how he treats it and how he handles things around it - between the lines there is (at least from my point of view) definitely discontent and concern. So I do believe the band doesn't see anything wrong with having side projects (in Richard's case they were even happy and relieved about it), but maybe in the trend of side projects demanding too much attention or developping possible unpleasant characteristics/outgrowths.
One can only hope that the last year really served Till as a wake up call to overthink some structures which gained influence around him.
"It's better if they took a long, long break than ruin 30+ year relationship with silence." I'm honestly not sure about this and I don't know what good a break would do in this case - since seemingly nothing incriminating had happend, there's no reason for a break in this regard, and maybe, just maybe, it's good for the band to work together this year, in their anniversary year, to actually feel close to each other, to reminisce together, something in this regard.
Regarding Zoran: Like I said in the post I reblogged, I find it highly conceited of him to quite literally say that every thing that came after him music video-wise, every art work from another director is inferior to his work in its quality (hence the 'AliExpress' metaphor). If he really means it that way, it's quite laughable to be honest. In my opinion, he is resting too much on his laurels he garnered from 'Mein Teil' - which admittedly had an immense effect and gave us Frau Schneider, and from "saving" 'Mein Herz brennt', but to say that the music videos of 'Deutschland', 'Adieu' or 'Zeit' are below his standards is mind-boggling to me (if I understand his allusion correctly).
Zoran's Lindemann videos are not my taste, and saying he wanted to express lonliness and insatiableness with a porn-video seems hypocritical and sends out 'oh I'm an artist, of course nobody understands me correctly'-pick me vibes. I'm not surprised that a lot of people who respects their own work didn't want to work with someone anymore who made a project like 'Till the end'.

This post by @waitmyturtles is what finally, finally led me to the conclusion what bothered me about the series so much (not just the ending) and I'm seriously wondering if this a cultural difference that I misunderstood which geniunely makes me question if I got the whole eyesight-storyline wrong or if it really was bad writing.
(and I didn't wanna mess up all the smart reblog-additions with my personal 2 cents so I made a new post for it)
It's the fact that Day never says himself that he's ready for the surgery/wants the surgery.
From the first episode on, every time they talked about the "eye donation" (which is the first problem imho, he's keeping his eyes and corneas are a tiny, vital part of them), I understood it as a plot device to show how the people around him make the decisions for Day and how he doesn't get the chance to make them for himself.
I felt like I was conditioned to think that way, every time the donation came up I had the reaction of "that's not the point here, deal with the situation at hand and not potential futures!!" and I thought Days lack of a response to the whole topic was meant to inflinct that reaction. Meant to be a sign of Days lack of autonomy and how he slowly, slowly gains it back.
But we never get to hear his own opinion about the possiblity of getting his eyesight back, even with him gaining autonomy and growing as a person, nor do we get a proper explanation by the doctors how his options look like and what a deteriorated cornea even MEANS. We aren't all doctors, we don't know the million different ways sight can be impaired and if it's temporary or not.
Which lead, in combination with Days ongoing lack of a response, to my (!) impression, that this storyline is not relevant to the message the show wants to put out, and that it's a story about how he learns to grow into his this new state of being. Which made the surgery feel like it came completely out of nowhere.
And now I'm wondering - in the context of this being a thai show and family playing a very vital role - did we not need Days explicit approval to learn that he wants it? Was his approval that he let his mom take care of the whole surgery process? Was this why he forgave her so quickly, and always turned to her, was that his approval? Because she stood for the chance of getting his sight back?
I'm not gonna discuss how Day is still a spoiled brat, the absolute obliteration of mhoks character, the unnecessary introduction of august or all the other loose ends of the story...
But with this particular point, I feel like I geniunely misunderstood something and maybe didn't do the story enough justice.
Do I still wish the narrative would've explained the whole eyesight-thing better so we understand the status of days disability better? Yes, absolutely yes.
But I also need a flagpole of signs to understand things so maybe I missed some nuance here and I really really want to know your opinions about this so please comment your thoughts!!

I think Niall appreciates his luck and behind the scenes he does seem to put the work in. I'm not a fan - his music bores me. But looking back, I'm impressed that he has trained his vocals to sing the way he does now - he can tour with his voice. Of all of the four that aren't Harry, I can see he's achieved a lot *for him*, and with The Voice and the golf thing, plus let's not forget a steady relationship that seems to be pretty private, he's doing great. Of all of them, I think he has always been aware that the level of stardom he gained from 1D was out of proportion to his talents. I wish he didn't cosplay Harry quite so much, it's getting a little weird, but it also shows someone who's willing to observe what works, and the other three don't have that ability!
Liam, to me, seems to be in a bad place, psychologically, maybe psychiatrically. He can't do this job. He can sing well - if you like that sort of thing - but he hasn't got such talent that he can wow people. I think in the beginning Simon thought he did, perhaps, but 1D ended up being a curse for Liam. The whole project very quickly overshadowed him. He worked so hard to be part of it - and he *was* good in the band, no doubt. Vocally he was vital. He just didn't appear to have much guidance about the rest of 'being a pop star' post-1D and he seems not to have a foundation within himself, for whatever reason, that he could build on (unlike Harry, with his laser focus on who he is and what he wants). It's my view that he's got a personality disorder of some sort and of all of them, I think he is most in danger of ending badly.
Zayn I think is just a prick. There isn't much to say about him. I was the anon the other day who was utterly shocked at his live stream singing. People talk about him having the best voice in 1D. Yeah, maybe for one line and a high note per song. He has not got nearly enough talent or good personality to have garnered the adoration of his stans. He has not got anything to him, that he can take forward, and I'm glad this latest song hasn't hit. He doesn't deserve anything.
Louis is such a mess but he is making it work for him in his own weird way. I suspect he's losing money, but he's crafting for himself the tale he wants to tell (bolshy singer who did it his way against the odds, thousands of adoring fans to support him). The way he creates this underdog image, then has the balls to go on stage and patently be unable to sing or even move, the dogged repetition of his mantras about needing the fans' support: it's an exercise in manipulation on quite a large scale. I think he knows exactly what he's doing with it, but I can't see what he plans for the future. I'm curious to see him in five, ten years' time - still no relationship whatsoever with Harry to please the fans; the music scene will have moved far beyond him. I reckon someone in future will make a podcast series about his last few stans and he'll end up a weird footnote, a grizzled, addled recluse who was the centre of some strange people's lives for a while.
🤣🤣 Love this! Excellent points. Agree about Liam, unfortunately. I do think he'd be happier retiring from the fame game and just enjoying his millions. He should stop calling the tabloid paps everywhere he goes and find a partner who supports a sober lifestyle and isn't a wannabe influencer.

' please save my soul. '
' i know you're suffering now. perhaps nothing i will say will ease your pain. '
' even for a dead person, you look miserable. '
' what, am i not worthy enough now? '
' i want to hear some last words that aren't about pain or regret. i've heard too much already. '
' first, i see reality, then fear, and at last... i see you. '
' what if we fail? '
' saving the day, then sacrificing yourself. you've glorified yourself with death... are you happy? '
' you don't look well. what happened? '
' you can't fall here. get up, poor thing. '
' at least they don't hate me, fear me, or want to hurt me. that's already more than i can ask for. '
' there is no freedom here, no companions, and it's not the ocean you long for. '
' don't worry, i'll help you. '
' tell me, what honor do these people have? '
' i know you won't believe anything i say at this point. '
' i am not in the mood for lecturing anyone. '
' when that time comes, i shall willingly be at your mercy and follow you to the ends of the earth. '
' what, you believe that story, too? '
' i want to thank you for saving me just now. '
' you must know that the fact that you're still here means we haven't lost. '
' i don't have many people around me who i can trust. '
' i hope that you can be honest with us. '

' despair is a silent monster. '
' in this world, only the blooming vitality can satiate the hungry soul. '
' what are you worried about? '
' are we truly honorable? '
' it must be hard for you to understand, right? that there'd be a selfish, cruel and cold-blooded monster like me in this world. '
' in fear, chaos always ensues. '
' you parasites don't deserve to be here. '
' i'm all too familiar with the ugly faces humans make when they're jealous. '
' don't get me wrong, i had no intention of being the good guy. '
' i knew it. i knew this would be a trap. '
' you've given them hope and joy. that is an incomparably honorable thing. '
' you're not hurt, are you? '
' do you want the redemption of death or to continue living a painful life, shouldering the heavy weight alone? '
' you don't believe me? '
' i am happy. of course i'm happy. '
' i'm sorry, i can't help you. '
' earning money is already so tiring, why can't i indulge and enjoy life a bit? '
' i've already apologized, what else do you want from me? '
' don't believe everything you see. '
' this is the worst decision you've made. '
' what would you do without me... poor thing. '
' once you let your guard down, you will be swallowed mercilessly. you can only go against the current. '
' so there are monsters far scarier than me in this world. '
' hold on a bit longer, i will get you out of this. '
' i know it's just a means of escape... but what's wrong with escaping forever? reality is just too cruel. '
' at times like these, we need to stick together and help each other to overcome the difficulties, right? '
' no matter what, i must keep going forward. '
' you made it this far? haven't given up yet? '
' i've been wanting to eliminate you this whole time. '
' i know you want to win. but now, how exactly will you achieve that? '
' you're just a monster i put a mask on! '
' don't you ever wonder... are you worthy of respect? '
' you still have a chance of redemption. '
' who do you think you are? why on earth should i confess to you? '
' everything has been settled. time to go home. '
' it seems our fates have become intertwined a long time ago. '
' if you keep hiding the truth, i can't help you. '
' i swear, i really didn't mean to, i just wanted to live... '
' maybe i'm just destined to be a monster who brings disaster to those around me. '
' i didn't mean any harm. i just wanted to help you. '
' don't worry. i'll be by your side. '
' i know you may not be able to accept the cruel reality of the world all at once. '
' now that you're living the high life, isn't it time to atone for your sins? '
' god must be blind to grant you so much success. '
' ready to tell the truth this time? '
' you've already seen my true colors. no need for me to keep acting, right? '
' human nature is inherently ignorant, wicked and vile. '
' who are you to judge my point of view? '
' i went to hell and back, but you haven't! '
' welcome to the place where most dreams come true. '
' i'm very glad to see how happy you are now. '
' how could fate have spared us so easily? '
' if i let you choose, will you choose to return to reality and live in pain, or for me to wipe your memory and let you keep living in that happy illusion? '
' how can i keep on living without a shred of hope? '
' don't you understand? your life is over! '
' why are you being so cautious? i don't bite. '
' you're not owned by anyone. you're free now. '
' i promise i'll try my best to help you. '
' let me bear the brunt. you must escape. '
' i don't want to be a coward hiding behind you anymore. '
' why are you acting like it has nothing to do with you? '
' there's no reason for them to be afraid of me. '
' are you angry with me? '
' answer my question. what exactly did you do to them? '
' you should be happy. your enemy is already dead. '
' please don't hurt people without waiting for an explanation. '
' enough talk. don't you have your work to do? '
' is there something you're looking for? '
' you don't see many people like me anymore, who will repay evil with kindness. '
' ...alright, i'll forgive you for now. '
' all of us will hunt you down and kill you. how much time do you think you have left? '
' death is ubiquitous indeed. you can't hide from it. '
' there are too many things i can't let go of. '
' i hope you can escape your destined misery... what do you think? '

so what are your genuine thoughts on jikook? because i feel like in order to be a taekooker you either have to be a jimin anti who believes he's getting in taekook's way or he's doing fan service with jungkook to hide taekook; which is dumb because how does hiding a gay couple with another gay couple do anything? it still breeds the same results in regards of putting a target on the artists’ backs (jk in this case cause he's supposed to hide, right?).
and then there's some tkkrs who just say jikook are good friends. but then how do you explain jimin giving jungkook a hickey? (i know they called it a bite but it's still fishy. drinking at night all alone, jk picking jimin up bridal style and spinning him around until jimin had to bite his neck to let go of him?? sus) and how do you explain jimin having the most screen time in jk's GCFs and getting GCFT all dedicated to him with a queer coded song? and GCF Saipan with queer coded lyrics on jimin's part twice? not to mention jungkook sucking and kissing jimin's ear on stage? jungkook using informal language with jimin but not with tae?
if all of the above can be waved off as friendship then that would make it that jungkook has pretty loose friendship boundaries, and that he'd do wayyy more sus stuff with his romantic/sexual partner, presumably taehyung. but here's the thing... taekook have never done something weirdly sus to that extent, ever.
Hi anon!
I sense, that you are a Jimin and Jk shipper, and that you are trying to test me (if I'm mistaken, I hereby apologize for assuming). I feel like you've made really narrow selection of 'ways to be a Taekooker'. I am not a Jimin hater (I love that man and I think he's a vital part of BTS, and a dear friend of both Jk and Tae), neither am I of the believe that everything Jk and Jimin do is fanservice. I suppose I would fall in the last possible option, I do believ Jimin and Jk are just close friends... and I feel I am able to explain my reasoning behind that pretty well.
Let me first point out a few things I feel vital to make people understand my reasoning. It makes a lot of difference if you look at this situation with the assumption that Jimin and Jk want people to know they are together and that their company lets them be bold about it, or if (like me) you think Tae and Jk don't want to be out and their company also doesn't allow them to be obvious. Let me elaborate a bit (it's what I do.. bear with me here). It's quite common knowledge that Idols in general arent allowed to (publicly) date, not even in a heterosexual way. I am pretty sure we can agree that the possibility of BTS members having dated in secret is quite real (we just haven't seen them, because they aren't allowed to do it publicly). I think we can also agree, that the likelyhood of the company allowing a queer relationship to go public is even less likely. So the likelyness of them allowing real footage of a real queer in-band-relationship, to me is nearly impossible.
The second thing I would like to point out is that we (both Taekookers and Jikookers) are basing a lot of our thoughts on edited footage. I recently made this post (which is vague as hell, but I think it conveys the message) .
Everything we see from official content has been edited and screened. It's stuff we are meant to see. Editing choices have been made. I find it way more likely for a company in SK to edit footage in a way that hides a queer relationship, than them making editing choices that highlights a queer relationship. That is just me following logical thinking. SK = queer not good + idols dating not good = no real footage of a queer in-band-couple.
So what do I feel about Jikook. Simply put, I feel it's fanservice combined with a real close friendship. You are right that covering up one queer relationship with another one wouldn't make much sense, but I feel they were attempting to level out the playingfield. Having more members act at a higly intimate level does make it easier for them to play the 'fanservice' card. Which is what neutral armies definitely do. Maybe they miscalculated the way Jk and Jimin's chemistry worked, because they do have that. They are very playfull and teasing. I can definitely see how that would make fans think something more is up. So now they have two huge ships both around Jk... and funnily enough... out of the three main players.. Jk is the least controversial one. You and I agree that Jk is most likely queer. I would even agree that Jimin is possibly queer. I think it very possible Jk, Tae and Jimin have this strong bond because not only are they close in age, but maybe they also have similar struggles. I am not mad at Jimin and Jk doing fanservice. Fanservice is part of their job. Tae knows that too, although he doesn't always like it. Jobs come with parts you like and parts you dislike. I think Jk and Jimin doing fanservice is close to how they naturally act, playfull, caring. I think Tae and Jk have been told to tone down the fanservice a lot, but when they do to me it looks like they both just melt into it.
That was me explaining my general thought on this matter. Lets get into the specifics you mentioned. I feel this won't go over well and people will be quick to just go defensive, but it is honestly how I see things. I do not mean to insult or argue... it's my honest interpretation of situations you've laid out for me.
So I have actually already adressed the bite and the earsucking. It's in this post and I still stand by my interpretations (although you will most likely disagree).
I would like to add, that if it's okay for Jikookers to use these moments... it's similarly okay for Taekookers to use Tae kissing Jk's ear, neck, and nape. Let's not be hypocrits. Drinking at night alone is not weird between friends. It happens so often.
Jk's GCF's are not romantic to me. None of them are, and several have romantic songs as background. I know Tokyo GFC is one of Jikook shippers main proofs, but point out the romance to me (like for real, because I genuinely do not see it. I can understand, if you were already a shipper or looking for a ship, this coming up will mean something. But I saw those clips before I became aware of shipping, and I only saw friendship. Troye Sivan himself said about that song that he saw it as being about his fans (platonic) and I am very much inclined to think that is what Jk meant to convey as well
Tumblr media
(again, ofcourse you will disagree). I think it was two close friends on a trip. It was funny, cute, close, but not romantic. I also think it very unlikely that their company would allow Jk to publish anything romantic in origin. You can bet their contracts are full of image clauses and restrictions (the non-dating clause being an example).
Jimin having more screentime to me makes sense because aside from Tae, he and Jk were probably closest. I do not deny that they spent a lot of time together and that he is an important person to Jk. I think Tae and Jk were restricted in how much they were allowed to share of their bond. To me that makes sense in how I feel their company would deal with an in-band relationship.
If you search non-shipping conversations about BTS's use of informal language with each other (which I have done). You will find one thing everyone (Native Koreans included) mentions is that talking informally isn't a sign or indicater of a romantic bond. It is a sign of closeness between friends and siblings. While not everyone agrees on the specifics, it is generally believed that BTS amongst each other are more informal than when they are in function. Although they do in general stay at a middleground state of formalness. So they might slip up some times. The moments you refer to, are actually used as examples of members joking around.. as close friends. All members have slipped up by dropping honorifics or using banmal, although some more than others, the younger ones being more inclined to do so. In cases like this I like to look at neutrals point of view, because shippers are biased. (This is what my general view is, anyone with serious input feel free to add on or teach me).
if all of the above can be waved off as friendship then that would make it that jungkook has pretty loose friendship boundaries
Ah, this seems very judgemental to me. Does your faith and idea of Jk rely on your believe in Jikook this much? Him goofing around with a friend, who he is very close with, whom he has shared a large part of his life with, who he has lived with, isn't okay? Honestly the things you've described aren't actually that big a deal.
and that he'd do wayyy more sus stuff with his romantic/sexual partner, presumably taehyung. but here's the thing... taekook have never done something weirdly sus to that extent, ever.
Ah, anon... we haven't seen even ten percent of their lives. You can't say with certainty that Tae and Jk have never done anything sus. You are basing your opinions on the footage you have seen. And as I've stated before... I don't think it very likely that BigHit would allow footage with signs of any real relationships to get out.
What I see between Tae and Jk is a softness, it's in looks and subtle touches and the way they move around each other. It's vague as hell, and I cannot describe it much better, but that softness I do not see between Jimin and JK. I also see clear instances of especially Tae being jealous of Jimin at times, while I do not see that jealousy in Jimin when Tae and Jk interact. There are several moments I feel would not have happened if Jimin and Jk were a couple. I also feel Jk and Jimin do not fully engage as they often pull back and lean away.

ok dune 2 post. obviously spoilers you know i don't give a shit. there is nothing i can say to you now that could possibly "ruin" your movie going experience should you decide to see dune 2. or maybe there is. i don't care though either you're reading my monster ass post or you're not. but i'm very nice and beautiful and kind so i added a read more <3 just keeping it really niceys <3
FIRST thing i want to say is that men are reacting to these movies in a way that is so diabolically insane to me i don't think i will ever be able to understand the underdeveloped male human brain. that was mean sorry. i hate men though and i think they're less intelligent than normal people. sorry. have you seen what men are saying about dune though. you understand. "it's the greatest triumph of cinema i've ever seen!" like calm down ryan it's dune part two.... we're not talking about the hunger games catching fire rn you can talk about the movie like a normal human being talks about things... yes it was good. it was also only the second best timothee chalamet film released in the past six months... and as i've said. the world at large will forget about dune like two years after the last movie, i'm sorry, but we will... we are not all male sci-fi fanatics peace and love
so what did EYE like about it! well i love zendaya <3 i love zendaya so much, not enough to watch spiderman, but a lot. i lovedd that she had a bigger role in part two (both me and my mom were sooo disappointed at how little she was in part one), and i especially loved how her role provided this point of contest to paul's messiah status, where his mother and stiglar are like, true believers, chani is the skeptic because she knows he's still only a man not a god, because she loves him as a man!!! it was crazy. also they were in crazy beautiful tragic love... (side note we can come back to this later if the need arises. their asses are GOING in the timeless video remake. spent a good ten minutes of the movie's runtime thinking about this fr) i really loved their relationship and their dynamic, idk anything about the books btw i want that out there as a disclaimer now. anyway i loved the drama of their whole thing it was craytown insane. the way he didn't want to go south and solidify his becoming as the people's messiah because he knew that if he became that he would lose her, and ultimately that's exactly what happened... "i will love you as long as i breathe" as his final words to her before enacting this plan to take over from the emperor by marrying the princess... ok that was insane. in many ways this happened to a friend of mine. by the name of. guinevere.... unless you're all here for my gay king arthur theory in which case. in many deeper ways this happened to my friend arthur. but i'm not supposed to talk about that because the people aren't ready. (i do genuinely and truly in my heart of hearts believe that king arthur is gay and i mean it in a way completely divorced from bbc merlin i didn't even want to bring up bbc merlin it makes me so mad how that show corrupted gay king arthur, i don't mean it like that. EYE mean that it's gay as fuck to be a man with an older brother. but we aren't talking about that). basically. kind of a tragedy slay... rooting for them in. deep sigh. movie three.
a thing i DID NOT like was the whole deal with. austin butler. i did not learn his character's name, don't care, he's dead anyway. it's not even that any of it was bad it was just boring. and there was that whole section on him too and i was like ugh this could have been a two minute scene wrap it UP! you may have noticed i was posting while in the theater. yeah i was posting from that section of the movie. because i was BORED. yes there was some vital info in that part, but i also believe it could have been explained in a significantly lesser amount of time!!! me in denis villieneuve's editing room screaming "cut it!!!!" it's boring... i'm sorry... i was bored and i don't care about the harkonnens (? i'm not looking that spelling up) and i don't care that that cult lady "secured his bloodline" by going to his birthday party and seducing him... i don't careeee about the harkonens!!!!
a thing i DID like was rebecca ferguson's deal. she was soooo. i mean she was terrible, of course, insane bitch for real. also i want her so bad but that's not relevant. loved her schemes. love it when a character starts playing god. and she got what she wanted in the end too! was that a good thing? unclear. but god forbid women do anything!
can i say something is this a safe space. i don't care about the worms the way a lot of people seem to care about the fuckin worms... they're cool i guess? but what is with the fascination with the sand worms... i don't get it. i'm gonna leave this point here cuz frankly what more is there to say
there seems to be a disconnect between two camps of people on timmy's actual messiah status in the narrative. i've seen people refer to the character as jesus and i've seen people call him a false prophet, and it all made me so confused i read the entire wikipedia entry for the original dune novel and the article for the larger dune chronicles. and i've come to the conclusion that yes he was literally the ultimate manifestation of powers the bene gesserit were trying to cultivate, and he did become a leader, but i wouldn't be so quick to call him jesus because he's only jesus because the bene gesserit wove their agenda into the religious legends and prophecies of the fremen people to be able to control them through it. so it was kind of all propaganda. but his abilities are very real and he DID want to help the fremen break free from harkonenn persecution. so i wouldn't call him a false prophet. i think the thing with the uh. "water of life" (it's worm piss. it's sand worm piss. it's gatorade blue, straight up fresh from the worm piss. i'm sorry) and he drank it and gave him visions of the future and he was like "i see it all so clearly now" and all that. i think that's real, he can see the futures and he knows he can play an important role and he wants to prevent war (flopped btw) and that's why he leaned into the messiah rhetoric, because it was easy i guess, and the people already believed it. i wouldn't call him evil or corrupt i'd just say he was trying to be realistic through the means he was raised (and remember that his mother raised him for war and power). um it's complicated. do i think there's a jesus metaphor? obviously there is. do i think he's really like. The Messiah? well no, because it's textually true that there was never REALLY a prophesized messiah, it was all just stories put into motion generations before he ever existed. that being said i wouldn't call it fake per se. lot's of interesting stuff is going on here with regards to religion to be honest. does it matter what's real? do we not each control our own perceived reality? does saying it's not real rob the believers of their choice? does it matter that the people were told to believe in him as a way to control them? does it matter that they made the beliefs their own anyway? what is religion? what is god? if i had more time on my hands i'd get deep into dune just to get into arguments online this summer about this shit.
i'd be interested to see how it all unfolds in a third movie, but as i understand that's not a confirmed thing that's happening and frankly i already read the wikipedia article about it so i guess i do already know how it unfolds. but i'll see the eventual movie anyway i guess.
the thing with the "atomics" was wild to me though i was like hey man i do not think a jesus figure would launch atom bombs... but to be fair i think they set those bombs on a mountain? and people were only killed via the rubble? that's obviously still bad i'm aware but i mean. well actually i don't know if that's what happened. the bombs only killed the bad guys though so who gives a shit. sorry. but those bald dudes were creepy i'm sorry they sucked so bad i don't care that a lot of them died in a war that they started. it's a movie. were they atomic bombs though? they called them "atomics" so i did assume they were fucking. oppenheimer atomic bombs. or is this such a distant future that they've advanced technology and undergone so many linguistic changes that words don't mean the same things anymore. i think however that i fully just overthought that. anyway whatever on the bombs i don't wanna talk about bombs
um getting back to my girl chani. "i will love you as long as i breathe" for real she should get to kill him a little bit for all of that shit i am not gonna lie to you. i was reading these wikipedia articles seeing the word "concubine" thinking to myself oh he should die. call me pontius pilate the way i am about to kill this fucking christ figure. i understand it narratively, i get it. i understand that he marries the princess for political reasons but he loves chani i understand that. but i am gonna tell you one thing right now and you need to hear this. cassandra would never pull something like that. and if you wanna talk to ME about an expansive fantasy universe totalling over a dozen books, you are gonna have to go through cassandra there. no one will ever be cassie, not to me, you'll never do the things cassie has done, i don't care who you are i don't care how influential to sci-fi dune is. if you're gonna come to me and be all oh dune was influential for sci-fi, i'm gonna come right back at you and say the shadowhunter chronicles was influential for urban fantasy. there is not a weird middle school girl out there who's life was not affected by cassandra clare. that woman is like a deity to me. i don't care about what men write, SHE is huge to ME. and she would never pull that shit. she would never, and she would rather die. peace and love. i hate men
and you know what let's all back it up for a moment. and when i said. timeless video. oh i meant that, as i said i spent ten minutes just straight up thinking about this comparison. my ultimate conclusion is that paul has the kit herondale swag (but if kit was written by a man. you understand). chani does not so much have ty blackthorn swag but she is kind of a cunt which was good enough for me tbh. the way that like. she was a fremen warrior above everything, even him, was very ty to me though, in the sense that he's a shadowhunter who like, IS a shadowhunter. we have shadowhunters like say, simon, who aren't so much suited to the shadowhunter way of life (because it is an entire way of life, it's not just being a human plus some magic, being a shadowhunter is a whole different class of existence completely unlike ours) but they're a shadowhunter because that's just the hand life dealt them. and then there are shadowhunters who are real, passionate, believing in the cause shadowhunters, and that's gonna be like. isabelle, cordelia, jace, emma. and ty. there are characters who, if they stopped being a shadowhunter they would survive, and there are characters who would not know a way to be without it. (sorry girl gonna interrupt you. this was a dune post? a post about the movie dune part two? um stop rambling about tsc...) ok. basically chani has that drive of caring so much about what she is (fremen) and what she can do. and i love how i gave that a whole paragraph explanation but with paul i just said "yeah he has that kit herondale swag nothin more to say" (sidenote. the audiobook i read the other day has been sticking with me to such an extent that. ok there was one character who i guess was meant to be from new jersey and the narrator was doing this crazy voice for him which was so fun and iconic i have been talking to myself in my head with that voice ever since for real and serious... i get a real kick out of it. and that last sentence pre parentheses was meant to be read in that voice so. imagine an exaggerated sort of goon-like jersey accent)(um just went to the little wiki page for this character to verify the new jersey thing. his dad's from jersey that's not important. under relationships. "they clearly have an abusive relationship" hey now... what fucking. lame fangirl wrote this... they were just homoerotically vibing in a toxic fucked up way... rolling eyes emoji. people didn't understand it...) anyway. um he does have the kit herondale swag. you know. in the simple sense that everybody is telling him he has this Destiny and he really didn't want it. kit would never drink that fuckass worm piss though. actually lie, he might. speaking of the worm piss. not the substance i mean the part of the movie where he almost died from it because it's literally poison and he knew that and drank it anyway. me when i have an exaggerated sense of self worth. me when it's literally poison but i'm different <3 anyway. when chani found him in that coma and jessica was like Only You Can Wake Him because like. some prophecy shit with "tears of the desert spring" and her secret name meant desert spring and she had to cry on him to save him from something she never wanted him to do. and that was effectively the moment that killed their relationship. that was crazy stuff girls...
not much more to say. oh. i must bring up the redacted of it all, of course, i mean naturally. this movie, above all other things i liked about it more than part one, had the added bonus of NOT being "from the ******* edits". watching part one was a constant game of "oh yeah i've seen this one" "classic c****** r***** edit clip!" "oh yeah the hair in his face with a dark expression in his eyes we've all seen it" like it was nice to watch a dune movie that was about dune. you know.

Hey there, long time! Somehow, you're the only person I still follow who loves Star Wars, and I just wanted to share an article (link below) that came out today. Do you agree/disagree with the article's premise that Star Wars, the MCU, etc. serve as an outlet for folks who are looking for meaning outside of traditional religion?
https://thehill.com/opinion/civil-rights/3986205-a-new-hope-star-wars-day-is-about-more-than-just-a-movie-franchise/
Ok well you've got me going now. Not sure if you were expecting all this but I've been wanting to write an essay and this is a great prompt for me. I honestly don't know if I even answered the question, this is all just rambling. So first off I think it is very important for me to say all of this is my own opinion and I am not a researcher. Also this article is very pro-organized religion.
The article is a very good one. I found it really interesting but not for the reason the article is talking about . The article is basically speaking on the ways in which people are leaving religion, as things like Star Wars and the MCU become more popular. Now I want to make it very clear that I in no way think that Star Wars or the MCU or anything else of the sort are a religion. The article touches on this by saying “of course most Star Wars Day observants are not true believers of the Jedi religion.”
The article says “even though the vast majority of fans …are not consciously seeking a religious experience, the fact that people in wealthy, technologically advanced nations are turning away from traditional religion may make them more likely to turn fandom into something that resembles faith.” This is where I really start to disagree with the article. This quote is basically saying that people are thinking of fandom as a religion because they don't believe in any traditional religions. They go so far as to say “…research suggests that the growing interest in these alternative beliefs is driven by the need for meaning that traditional religious faiths have historically helped meet.” It is very, very important to point out this research article that is linked is from a journal website and it is therefore not a reliable source. This is a statement saying that religion is a vital part of the human experience and we must feel the absence of it. Now I can say personally, the absence of religion is felt in my life but in a way that is keeping me from ever joining another religion (I was previously christian, it was not the best experiance). This article is so pro-religious that I don't find anything in the article to be an unbiased analysis of the connection between religion and fandom.
Now, with all that out of the way, here in the opinion of a 21 year old college senior. Disclaimer, I was a hard core christian for the first 13/14 years of my life and have been out of the religion completely for the last 6 years. Also I am a fine arts major, neither writing or research is my specialty, I was just asked a question and had some big thoughts on it.
So, to segway into this and quote the article one more time with possibly the only thing I agreed with, it says, “...function of fiction suggests content like “Star Wars” isn’t mere entertainment.” Even though the article was using this quote to say Star Wars isnt just entertainment because it was made to secretly be pushed into a religion, this is still true. Stories that people get so invested in are not just entertainment, but a community. I don't think people need religion to have a fulfilled life the way the article above says, but we do need community. With things like growing mental illness, and covid, make these community connections in real life harder than ever before. One way we make a community connection is with the shows and film themselves. People get invested in shows, we become part of the story, we feel anxiety over the plot, and we mourn characters that aren't real but that grief absolutely is real. Christiane Manzella is a grief counselor at the Seleni Institute for Women, she is cited in a TIME article stating “We create meaning and then experience actual grief when that connection is broken.” We love and lose with the people we see on screen just the same as if we knew the fictional people face to face.
This brings me to the next point; fandom. Fandom is another way that people create community. I don't think it is a religion, I don't think anyone in fandom thinks it's a religion but it is just as important to some people as religions are to others. All fandoms of all parts of media are a way for people to find deep connections with those that have like minds. We grieve together, we celebrate together and we create a sense of community surrounded by many of the same ideas. These are also things that most religions have but most people in fandom don't worship the fandom or blindly believe in the fandom with no critical thinking in regard to the bad things that inevitably occur in fandom. Now there is an increase in people, especially young people joining alternate religions but its not because of fandoms but more directed to the blind faith and support of the bad things that happen and are actively supported by religions.
@zuko-is-crazy I'm so sorry if I rambled myself right out of answering your question but this is an essay on the thoughts that sparked in my mind when I saw your ask.

hey a few months ago you said you were writing a byler jennifer's body au, how's that going?
WOW, you remembered :)
it feels like it's going really great, then I regret most of my decisions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
at some point I was about to throw everything in the trash and write it for creelarke instead of byler.
I wrote some parts, I know how the crucial scenes need to play out, have a pinterest board and a playlist, drew some ideas on my sketchbook, do research almost daily, talk about it with my friends (they aren't really helpful bc they have no idea what I'm talking about and they insist it's going to be good whatever I decide but at least I can vent) , think about it constantly and still had the AUDACITY of being stuck for a long time.
Tumblr media
I believe I'm getting better but it's not a linear progress and I'm still really insecure about lots of things that are pretty vital to the entire fic.
for a long time the main problem was that I had no idea if I was stuck because I've grown too attached to elements that came to mind while brainstorming that stray away too far from the essence of jennyfer's body or from stranger things characters and I didn't know what to commit to between them or how find a balance.
I think I've finally found it and I'm proud of that at least.
Tumblr media
thank you for your patience and for the ask <3
sorry it took me so long to respond I was pretending not to exist on this site for like more than a month, then I saw your ask which made me want to overshare about the fic but didn't know if it was what you where asking me to do and I guess I'm still too insecure about it to do that yet (unless you're up for it).
at last, may I ask what can I do to be forgiven?

I don’t wanna sound upset or maybe I’m trying to hold myself back. Ik snw is only allowed 10 eps and that restricts screen time a lot but… I thought the whole purpose for pushing the main trio was so that they can all get the spotlight. But all we’ve gotten is a lot of Chris and Spock both individually and together but like I’m getting crumbs with Una.
You're preaching to the choir, Anon.
I've been incredibly vocal (mostly on discord, a tiny bit on twitter, just not much here on tumblr) about it.
Read more, because I went off
All the interviews, articles, previews for SNW before it came out, sold this show as a Pike, Number One, and Spock show. But when it came to it, there was barely any Una. She was actively written out of a number of episodes (Memento Mori, All Those Who Wander, A Quality of Mercy - are the main culprits), and she wasn't vital to a lot of the others.
She's the first officer. No other Star Trek show in history has had this little screen time from the main cast first officer. Spock, Riker, Chakotay, Kira, T'Pol, Saru/Burnham, even god damn Ransom when the bridge characters aren't even the main ones we follow in Lower Decks (also it's funny because Ransom is voiced by Rebecca Romijn's husband), all have more screen time and more importance than the very first ever Star Trek first officer, Number One.
And it's not about my favourite not having screen time - Effie Trinket is one of my all time favourite characters and she's barely in the last THG book and I didn't get mad over it - it's that this was billed as a show where she would have screen time, and she just...didn't.
If you took her out of Season 1, nothing would change, she hasn't been the driving force of any plot except for her centric - which tbh is less about her (she's been Illyrian her whole life, and we didn't even really see her struggle with hiding it or whether or not she should risk exposing herself to save the crew) and more about a plot point (yes in episode 1, Pike was sent to rescue her, but he could easily have been sent just to rescue the other crew sans Una).
Meanwhile, if you take Chris (most episodes), La'an (Strange New Worlds, all the gorn stuff), Spock (do I even have to explain this one), Christine (Spock Amok/Serene Squall), Erica (Elysian Kingdom/A Quality of Mercy), Hemmer (most of his episodes), or Nyota (Children of the Comet/all her Hemmer friendship stuff) out of episodes, there would be vast differences to the plot and feel of the show.
I think Joseph M'Benga is possibly the only other main cast member who (aside from his centric episode) hasn't been vital to the show.
Una's mistreatment by the show hurts me a lot. She's been in my top 5 favourite Star Trek characters ever since I saw The Cage (and Discovery and Short Treks didn't change that) and I was so excited to see her and Pike work together as Captain and First Officer. AND WE'VE NOT REALLY SEEN THAT?? I think the only time we've actually seen them work together as CO/XO is the Serene Squall mutiny.
I'm really hoping Una has a bigger part in Season 2 (part of me does wonder if it's a scheduling conflict with Rebecca Romijn as she is the most famous cast member, which hopefully changed as filming went on.) because this is ridiculous. I know there’s the argument that they wanted to put more emphasis on the new characters, but Chris and Spock still got hella development, and they were already far more developed that Number One...
Though I can't imagine her arrest will last over one episode (or otherwise we're gonna get entire episodes without her in).

Since you infected me with A-Team brain rot, what would their musical AU be like?
Ooooh, this is actually a bit of a challenge. Something tells me The A-Team and musicals aren't supposed to mix - well, unless you're looking at Murdock. He thinks he's in a musical either way. I won't be mentioning all of the songs on the show, but they have to be a part of the musical au. Finding 100% accurate songs will be hard sometimes, but I'll still give you vibes.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Murdock, since he already sings on the show from time to time, he should be able to sing longer and you'll never know if it'll turn into a full-on number with choreo and everything or if B.A. will interrupt him with a record scratch or smashing his casette player. In taking all the songs I know that have been sung on the show and that I thought would fit, I saw that most of Murdock's were Beach Boys songs, so... That's his show-assigned vibe, I guess. Something that I think would be super funny would be a huge, flashy number of Happy Pills by Weathers in the VA - or literally anywhere - , led by Murdock of course.
Tumblr media
B.A. probably wouldn't sing but I can see him doing a spoken word piece, like something Hamilton-esque. I could totally see something like My Shot, except less about US independence. That kind of song could also work for plan-making or building something, so maybe he only ever "sings" in those group performances.
Tumblr media
Now, Face. Oooooh boy. You just know Face's songs would be good. The first song I thought of was Joel Grey's cover of Razzle Dazzle from Chicago, but that's honestly also a Hannibal song, so... both it is! His song, the song that would be his "character theme", so to speak, is definitely Good Old-Fashioned Loverboy. On a darker and more symbolic note, I could definitely see him singing Take Me To Church, interpret into that what you will.
Tumblr media
Hannibal, as I said, gets Razzle Dazzle together with Face, but I could also totally see him sing something older or something that shows his role in the team as the dad figure. Something a bit sad, but maybe Smile by Mikky Ekko could work. Then again, he also has huge vibes for Feeling Good. You know, THAT song my Michael Bublé. Perfect for scheming Hannibal. Another song I think could work is Specialization by Marilyn Monroe and Frankie Vaughan - something older, something that has to do with movies, old Hollywood... I don't know who'd sing Marilyn's part. Amy doesn't really have the vibes, but she's my first pick for now.
Tumblr media
Amy would slay Face with Womanizer, let's be honest. She's got the attitude and it could even fit her voice. Similar vibes: Confident by Demi Lovato. She's a queen, no doubt about it.
And because I love her too much...
Tumblr media
Kit gets songs too. Her introduction song could so be The Greatest Show because her circus background is so vital to her character. One more cheerful and upbeat one would be I'm Still Standing by Elton John. Maybe even as a duet with Murdock, just for the vibes? Staying with duets, she could sing Faith by Stevie Wonder and Ariana Grande with Face or, even better, Do I Wanna Know. Another great song: Do It Like A Dude with B.A. as her hypeman. She could also really belt out Church by Fall Out Boy.
Tumblr media
Group songs! The first one might be an odd choice, but... California Dreamin'. Simply because of Murdock's show-assigned Beach Boys theme and because it sounds like something they could sing in the car. Maybe Murdock starts it or Hannibal does and the others join in or do backup vocals. Or in B.A.'s case, he might just tap the steering wheel in the rhythm. The second one is even weirder: You Are My Sunshine. If I had a nickel for every time this song appeared on the show, I'd have two nickels, which isn't much, but it's weird that it happened twice. Because of this, I image them quietly singing or humming it at some point. But this last one should really fit better: Walk on Water by Thirty Seconds to Mars.
So, without further ado: Here's the playlist and the story behind it
We get introduced to the team and Hannibal and Face make a plan to get Murdock out of the VA. Then, the whole team hops in the van and we get to my fanfic on how the team meets Kit during Children of Jamestown. The story is pretty much the same as in the fic and she joins. Now, we get some more Murdock shenigans and Kit and B.A. bonding. After this, Murdock and Face do their little bit with surf city, showing Face's attitude towards women and setting up the beach theme of the whole musical/movie. Face tries to flirt with Kit but she declines, causing Amy to comment on him being a womanizer. The team arrives at their beach destination of choice and the audience is shown that Kit and Face do have feelings for each other but Kit is just blocking everything out and Face doesn't wanna be pushy because she's a team member. After that, more Murdock shenanigans and Hannibal making a plan, the attempt at executing it and its failure, after which Hannibal tries to "cheer up" the others. Face and Kit are still very much in love and we get a mashup between Church and Take Me To Church to show that. The two of them team up to save the rest of the team and we get a super fun happy end for both the idiots in love and the team as a whole.

On the subject of Posts About Female Characters in Fandom That I Don't Want To Comment On Because I Don't Want To Fight:
I've also kinda been thinking that there's some kind of... I dunno, terrible feedback loop when it comes to canon female characters. You know, there are fewer decent girls and women written in mas media because sexism, and also people are harsh toward the girls and women they DO get and prefer the boys and men because sexism, so in response future canons focus more on the boys and men, so with more people attaching themselves to the boys and men, rinse and repeat. Like, okay, you want me to get fandomy about a character? For me at least, odds go way up when you can point to a character who is clearly competent and still sometimes go, "lol look at that idiot." The lol is vital, I should note. We need to be able to laugh at them sometimes. Shamelessly tease the blorbos. A lot of times, even when ladies are present, you don't see people doing this with them. Why?
For example, let's look at Avatar the Last Airbender. This is a show that is is really quite good with its girls, by children's animation standards, especially for the time! We have a good balance of boys and girls, and they're pretty well-characterized! Now let's go in with my "competent but sometimes an idiot lol" standard.
First, obviously, we have Sokka. Sokka is like the single best example this show has to offer of a character who is highly competent while also having idiot moments. Zuko is also a strong contender. Probably not a coincidence that shipping these two got so much more popular after the Avatar-on-Netflix resurgence: fandoms love to see their dumbasses.
But can we really describe any of the girls this way? They're mostly just straight-up competent. Ty Lee maybe, but she's more quirky than dumbass. Katara comes the closest to having proper dumbass moments, and what do you know, fans have historically been harsh on her.
But then, Katara's moments aren't really framed as being funny. She steals from pirates! And we get a story out of it for an episode, and fans get to argue with each other about whether she was right to do so or not. Nobody ever looks at that moment and says, "haha what an idiot I love her." It's less like Sokka worrying about Enemy Birds!!! and more like Sokka breaking the rules in Wan Shi Tong's library. Sure, some people might fold the latter into poking fun at Sokka's dumbassery, but I don't see it happening if we don't also get moments like the former.
BUT. There is a young woman who's a major character in the overall franchise that I liked well enough. Korra is a competent character I would point at and affectionately say, "haha look at this idiot." But a lot of people don't like her! And I don't mean, "a lot of people don't like Legend of Korra" because that's fair, it's a lot more inconsistent of a show and some people aren't going to like that. What I mean is, I've seen a lot of people who just straight-up hate Korra the character because... she's really strong and sometimes does dumb things. Is this solely people not liking when a woman exhibits these traits, or is it something people are more critical of when the overall show is not as good as its predecessor? Perhaps a combination of both?
BUT BUT. Then we have the Kyoshi novels too! Kyoshi is totally a competent dumbass. And I don't think I've ever seen someone who was annoyed by her. These books have had a pretty positive reception. Is this because fandom is more willing to fall for a woman character nowadays, or is it because the novels have a much smaller audience than the TV shows?
OR. Is this just the result of the Strong Female Character(TM) going down in popularity since ATLA aired? Becoming more criticized? Because once upon a time that was considered the single best way to write your girls and women, and Strong Female Characters(TM) never got to have dumbass moments. But then again, while they're less common, Strong Female Characters(TM) are still alive and well. And they're still boring. Are they common enough to be part of the explanation for why fandoms are less likely to focus on the women? Or is the fact that they still exist evidence that there are still many people who wouldn't like a more interesting female character?
I don't actually have any answers. But I think it would be a good conversation to have. I'd rather grapple with these questions than just go, "HEY MISOGYNISTS STOP WRITING MORE FIC ABOUT THE MEN" every time someone brings it up.

So THIS is Tumblr...
My grandmother always told me I should keep a diary. My mom did too.
If you look around the house, you're sure to find various notebooks with one or two or ten pages filled out detailing whatever thoughts were going through my ten or thirteen or fifteen-year-old brain. But all attempts were short-lived. I didn't really see the point of it. I got distracted. I was more interested in writing about imaginary worlds where all my feelings would materialize into conflicts that would leave land scorched for as far as the eye could see, that would topple empires, that would lead to great discoveries, that would let me rest my head in a garden that only existed inside of it.
But I haven't been a teenager for a while. As I've grown older and more sentimental and keep ending up in places and situations where everyone else is asking, "Why aren't you writing this down?" I've been tempted to give in. I've told myself that maybe it could be therapeutic. It's my last year as a twenty-something and, at the moment, it's looking like it's going to be just as if not more eventful than a lot of the things leading up to this point.
So I thought of Tumblr. I avoided this place from its inception through high school and college. Then I mostly forgot about it. However, when contemplating the concept of airing my thoughts into the digital void, I remembered this place that had caused such a stir among my peers who were eyeball deep in emo bands, vampires, and anime.
Alas, here I am. I suppose I should get to it.
January 14th, 2023. You can call me Turtle. I'm a Tour Manager. Think of any live show you've ever seen or wanted to see. Did you manage to grab those Taylor Swift tickets? Ever fancied seeing Hamilton? This past holiday season, did you make it out to see The Nutcracker? You ever see those late night talk shows that always bring on a musical guest? Did you get excited about that Coachella lineup announcement?
I'm the type of person who makes sure everyone and everything gets to where it needs to be when it needs to be on time and within budget so the show can happen. My stuff is in Philadelphia but I live wherever work takes me dragging along a backpack and a carry-on sized suitcase because it's bothersome being weighed down by your own belongings.
Everyone wants to hear the crazy stories and every year I save a few that are Christmas dinner table friendly. Because it is true that one thing I don't have to deal with is monotony. Dull days are few and far between to the extent that I welcome them with open arms. Everything is loud and fast-paced and emotional and relentless, controlled chaos from start to finish. Is it romantic or is it hell? I can't say. But I do know that if you'd be happy doing anything else, odds are you won't stick around for long. I don't say that part to people very often.
For whatever reason, I've been doing this now for ten years which is... insane for me to think about.
In five days I ship off to do it all again, a short run around America and Canada. I'll be back just after sunrise on Valentine's Day assuming I'm not trapped in Vancouver by an armageddon snowstorm like I was leading up to Christmas.
What am I feeling? Cautiously optimistic. It's not a complicated show and I'm going out with a lot of experienced - if not opinionated - people. This will be the easiest gig I have all year. Nonetheless, I'm thinking about all the things that could go wrong because if I didn't, I wouldn't be doing my job. The thing about touring is that something (or many somethings) will always go wrong so putting in the work in advance to preemptively circumvent the little fires so that I'll only have to worry about the big ones is a vital process.
Simultaneously, I'm still tying up the odds and ends from two tours I had at the end of 2022... mountains of receipts and such. I'm also prepping for my next tour in March and am already being copied on email threads between booking agents trying to piece together a world tour I have this fall. That is honestly the thing I'm most worried about in the back of my mind.
You see, I've never actually fully done a world tour before. I've only ever been to North and South America. This one will be throwing Europe, Asia, and Australia into the mix. While this opportunity feels well earned, the downside of becoming a tour manager at twenty-two is that when it comes to new opportunities, you're always the one in charge which means any mistake you make is going to be quite public and spectacular which is another reason why I'm always so anxiously thorough. Luckily, the anxious part isn't very obvious to most people.
Leaving home always tugs at me a little bit. It's less about the onset of homesickness and more about stepping into another unknown. Home is stable, consistent, and reliable. But the second I walk into that first airport it's like starting at level one of a whole new game.
I take a deep breath and look straight ahead knowing this is the last moment of rest I'll have until I beat the game.

Letter 18 of 22
January 30, 2022
Dear Premier Stefanson,
It has been seveteen (17) days since I sent correspondence with feedback that was expressly solicited when you said on January 12th that you "will be taking advice from other Manitobans…moving forward." I have yet to receive any acknowledgement that my advice going to be taken into consideration (or that it's even been received); therefore, this email - with additional commentary - will be re-sent to you and a few other key decision-makers every day until policy changes in Manitoba to adequately address my concerns and/or you respond to me personally.
Unfortunately, MB Gov's opportunity to come out in front to condemn actions of the "convoy" that passed through our province last week is gone, which will serve to bolster continued, needless division within Manitoba and across the country. This, however, can still be fixed if provincial leadership takes a clear stand this week to do what needs to be done to protect its residents and citizens by decisively standing with all those who have made the right decisions over the past two years to remain masked, to get vaccinated, and to do whatever else has been necessary to prevent, contain and eradicate the threat posed by Covid (instead of giving in to the toothless threats of a minority perspective that continues to undo all the work that has been done to protect lives and to restore normalcy). To be blunt, any easing of restrictions this week that allow for not-yet-vaccinated individuals to experience more "freedom" will simply give them the impression of having won, will release them from a sense of responsibility to follow any public health recommendations, and bipartisanly cement a notion of sovereign citizenry that will actually work against this and future governments provincially and nationally. To be clear, this is not an issue of "us" versus "them"…it's only ever been about all of us - together. But the more concessions and less consequences that are granted to those who have willfully excluded themselves from responsibility to their neighbours, the more critical and less kind our situation will become. Please get things together for the sake of us all.
Sincerely, X
------
Dear Premier Stefanson et al,
Greetings from Southern Manitoba. In light of the comments made at yesterday's press conference (i.e. January 12, 2022) - where it was specifically stated that the provincial government "will be taking advice from other Manitobans as well moving forward" - I would like to take this statement seriously/literally and provide you with some feedback from a deeply concerned resident of the Rural Municipality of Hanover. While the term "stakeholders" was likely used to refer primarily to business owners, I think it's vital to point out what should be obvious: all residents/citizens collectively are the most significant stakeholders in Manitoba, and if these voices - like my own - are not being listened to, what this conveys is that there is some serious misgovernance taking place (which undermines the democratic purpose/process of politicians acting on behalf of those who they are supposed to represent). Obviously, I don't expect a response, since it's clear that leaders in the current administration aren't even willing to answer direct questions from official members of the press. But if any confidence in this current government has any hope of being restored, I would appreciate if this correspondence was at the very least passed along to the people to whom it's addressed. Accordingly, at this time I would like to name four different issues: suppressing public health recommendations, the provincial response level, forced back to school, and expanding the proof of vaccination.
First, it was painfully obvious at yesterday's press conference that the government was indeed advised by its own public health division that stricter measures were needed in order to protect all Manitobans. Instead, what we saw was a blatant disregard of such recommendations in favour of a what was termed a "balanced" approach, which is clearly no longer concerned at all with "containing" the spread of Covid-19 but resigned to allow the entire population to contract the virus that some of us have been trying extremely hard to fight against these past two years. We're only in this position now - of supposedly needing to accept that "Covid is here to stay" - because the provincial response to the pandemic has ever tended to be reactive (as opposed to proactive) and has not listened to expertise from medical professionals soon enough to "mitigate" the collateral damage of human lives that we've seen. Granted - this is a worldwide problem and not a shortcoming that's specific to Manitoba; however, this does not release us from the responsibility to do our utmost to keep people safe - no matter the cost. Sure, listen to multiple sources. But if it's a veritable issue of life/death or health/illness, this alone trumps any political, economic, or religious interests. Therefore, if public health and/or medical experts are telling the government anything that has relevance to decisions that are being made at the provincial level, this ought to be transparently disclosed and must factor into policies that are enacted to protect the well-being of those who call Manitoba home.
Second, it was a common refrain the last few press conferences that Manitoba has had more strict measures in place than the other provinces across Canada (as some kind of justification/rationalization for not stepping up the current response level). To be perfectly honest, regardless of what our neighbours to the West, East, or South are doing, what matters above all else is to hold to a higher standard than those whose response has been subpar. In other words, the province of Manitoba should be seeking to be a leader nationally and globally in its championing of health and safety (instead of a follower, or a pariah). As it stands, we currently have the worst rate of active Covid-19 cases in Canada (again), and the province's response is to keep the response level at Orange - even though case numbers are worse than they have ever been throughout the entire pandemic. This is completely irresponsible and unacceptable. The province's response level should have been at Red long ago - with stay-at-home orders for all not-yet-vaccinated people (except for essentials), no guests at all for households that have any unvaccinated individuals, no special treatment for religious organizations, expanded and consistent enforcement of public health orders, etc. What's more, what Canada needs is a more unified approach, because what's happened to date - with each province essentially acting in isolation - is not working. Similar to the federal mandate for all civil servants to be vaccinated, a more unified partnership/coordination across provinces and territories to implement public health measure compliance is necessary to have any hope of preventing and containing future waves of the virus.
Third, this rhetoric of schools being "last to close, first to open" has to stop. Obviously no one wants schools to be closed since in-person learning spaces are inarguably preferable to online/virtual formats for most students. The reality of the capitalistic world that we occupy is that most people are reliant on children being in school so that parents/caregivers can work. And yet, by compelling students, staff and teachers to attend classes at an unsafe time during a global epidemic - without ensuring sufficient access to scientifically proven medical-grade masks for all, not substantially upgrading ventilation, not allowing time for students to get their second dose before restarting classes, etc - is nothing less than willing endangerment of human life. My kids, for example, got their first dose of the vaccine on the very first day they were eligible (i.e. November 28th); however, with the 8-week period that they are supposed to wait until their next vaccine appointment, the earliest we could make a booking was January 23rd (which we have done). Based on the "Severe Outcomes by Vaccination Status" graphs shown in the press conference, two doses provides significantly more protection than one (with any number of doses being preferrable to zero). That being said, there is no way that we are sending our children back to school before they have the opportunity to receive their second shot. Fortunately, we have the flexibility to do this as a family. But what about the large number of families who have no other option than to send their children back to school, or for those whose employment is school-based (who themselves have no option to strike because of the collective bargaining agreement)? Thus, it's crucial that the province delays the start of in-class learning until this present wave peaks and/or the province can adequately demonstrate that safety measures have in fact been systematically, expansively and verifiably increased at each school across every school division. Alternatively, distance options should at least be provided for families who have been advised to "look after themselves."
Finally, we already have a reliable system in place to ensure that the most people in public spaces are vaccinated, but it has not be expanded to its full potential. Only a vocal minority of Manitobans have expressed disagreement with proof of vaccination, so this should not prevent its continued use long-term. After all, there should be a lasting benefit for those who have faithfully abided by the province's strong recommendation to be vaccinated (and enduring consequences for obstinance). Also - if the province actually believes in vaccines as an important measure to contend with the Coronavirus (i.e. something "we're going to need to learn to live with…in the longer term"), then Manitoba seriously needs to consider implementing a vaccine mandate for all citizens and permanent residents, as well as requiring vaccines as a condition of attending public schools. Requirement is proven to yield more results than recommendation, and while there will always be those who stand in opposition, the cost-benefit of safeguarding life for all outweighs the preferences of individuals…otherwise, we wouldn't have laws that protect each other from harm.
All this to say, when it's communicated to us that, "it's up to Manitobans to look after themselves," what this signals is resignation and abdicating responsibility. That's not what we need from elected officials. We need you to set an example for us to follow; to inspire us to do better; to make hard decisions that will cost financial and political supporters; to answer questions honestly when asked directly; to keep calm and carry on with all of the things. That is the way out of the pandemic: not giving up.
Sincerely, X
p.s. Next time when N95 or medical grade masks are provided for Manitobans - which we as a family did not receive - please consider doing so at a location where there's more access for everyone, such as a Canada Post office. Not every community has a Liquor Mart, but even the smallest town has a post office (or is proximate to one).

Kinky Pie Episode 6 Review
This episode, more than anything, is a demonstration of the three most important things necessary for a healthy, fulfilling kink relationship, and how Kuea and Lian are failing at all three spectacularly.
The first, and most vital thing, is to understand what you're about. As far as I can tell, both Kuea and Lian are working off of instinct alone. Whether either of them have even heard of BDSM or given it any thought if they have, I do not know. But they certainly aren't showing any signs of it, except for Lian mentioning having handcuffs.
The second, is to know what it is you actually want. You have to contemplate your desires. Explore them. I highly recommend a kink checklist. Feel free to message me if you want any recommendations. I don't judge, and I won't out you.
The last thing is to communicate. If you don't talk to your partner, tell them what you want and listen to what they want, you're never going to be able to enjoy each other properly, and can end up harming each other, which is exactly what's happening between Lian and Kuea.
The only way you can kind of, sort of, maybe, get away with not having some or all of these things(though anyone reading this post can no longer claim ignorance of the concept of BDSM), is if you and your partner(s) speak the same kink language.
By that, I mean that y'all inherently want the same things. For instance, Sean and White make it work because Sean is a strong and fierce Dom who wants a good, obedient boy. White wants to be obedient and good, and he wants a strong and fierce Dom. So they don't talk about it, but they're able to enjoy themselves regardless. That, of course, being said, does not change the fact that they absolutely, 100% should talk about it, but the point is that they don't have kink conflict.
Kuea and Lian have absolutely none of these. They don't know what they're doing, they can't articulate what they want, which means they can't communicate, and they don't speak the same kink language.
Kuea wants to both be himself, and be Lian's good boy. He wants praise and affection. He doesn't like when Lian is displeased with him:
Tumblr media
But he can't have both things:
Tumblr media
Lian also wants Kuea to be himself, but he wants to be able to scold and dominate Kuea. In this whole exchange, this is evident, but neither of them understood what was being said
Tumblr media
This comes out here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is not a circumstance in which Lian was enjoying dominating Kuea, this was just him reacting poorly to concern about Kuea endangering himself by using a goddamn butcher's knife to slice a hard boiled egg(and, as someone who was taught to cook as a child and has been doing it ever since, I'll admit I was terrified for both of them in that moment and very much wanted to grab Kuea's hand), but Kuea's breakdown here was a cumulative reaction to all of the times Lian has chastised him, times which for Lian were playful, but for Kuea were hurtful.
My hope, my desperate, desperate hope, is that this will be a catalyst for Lian to realize that Kuea doesn't understand what Lian is doing. That Lian more fully explains that he enjoys getting to scold Kuea, and for Kuea to tell Lian that what he wants is praise and comfort, so that they can find some kind of middle ground.
I don't have a lot of hope, though, mostly because Lian's reaction to this:
Tumblr media
is not to say "No, I do love you," but to initiate physical intimacy. Which I think he does because his love language is touch as well as gift giving and time spent. Kuea needs words though. He needs to hear Lian say "I love you". Lian, unfortunately, isn't capable of that for reasons I'm still unsure of. Which makes me despair of Lian being able to have a proper conversation about their kink relationship.
*Sigh*
I want to love them together, I really, really do, but they aren't communicating properly and are both hurting each other and I WANT IT TO STOP.
I suppose other things happened this episode too.
Diao wants attention from Yi which makes Yi melt down because he wants to give that attention but feels guilt because Diao "lost his memory" due to Yi, whatever the fuck that's supposed to mean. My best guess is that Yi somehow destroyed Diao's belongings. Or injured him in such a way that Diao lost some of his memories except I guess his memories of his friendship with Kuea? I don't know, it's all very confusing.
There's also what's his face who's intruding on Kuea's friend group because he's a gold digger or whatever. I'm completely over storylines in which the rich person is the victim of some poor who is trying to take advantage of him. It's evil to be rich in a society in which so many are steeped in poverty, and I'm entirely in favor of poor people managing to part rich people from some of their wealth that they very much shouldn't have in the first place.
Kuea's friends are hilarious and I loved watching them do a terrible job trying to trick Lian.
Foie is still the best character and all of his actions and facial expressions are a goddamn beauty to behold. 10/10 on him in this episode.
The rest of it gets a 7/10
