totally random question but do you read supercorp fics? and if yes, which ones are your favorites?

i absolutely read supercorp fics! i've been devouring ao3 basically since i finished the show. here are a few of my faves: people will say we're in love by AKAWWJJD - this was recommended to me by a friend and was the second ever supercorp fic i read. it's angsty, but it's BEAUTIFUL and it's one of my favorite fics from any fandom, ever. it's basically a rewrite of crisis and the aftermath of that (with a heartbreaking, post-reveal beginning), and it's just so, so good. it really set the bar for me in terms of supercorp fics and i still think about it to this day. it's heartbreaking and poignant and just. perfect.

the banks of certain rivers and ever more light by @i-am-robie - these two go together, but if you only read one, read ever more light (although i highly suggest reading both). i found this one through a gifset based on the fic, and i am SO happy i did. this is the fic that made me believe in fluff again. i'm not kidding, before i found this fic, if it wasn't tagged as angst, i was not reading it. this one? completely changed my opinion. it's so soft and sweet and it gives you the same butterflies and good feelings kara gets around lena. i actually love these so much that i am in the process of binding them into a book.

same old blues by @searidings - this one is, in my opinion, hands down the best portayal of lena i've read so far. it captures her anger and hurt and emotions so well and it just feels exactly like lena. it picks up after the end of season four and is exactly how i imagine lena's reaction to kara being supergirl. obviously it's canon divergent, but this one just really nails lena. it's angsty and emotional and just SO good. the author describes it as "horny enemies to lovers" in their note and that really sums it up pretty well.

you're in my blood, like holy wine by @jazzfordshire - this one is one of my favorite AUs. it's a loose practical magic AU with witch!lena, but much more developed and fleshed out than in the show. not only does it have really well written supercorp, but it also showcases a really well done friendship between lena and sam. i'm gonna be real i'm very picky about AUs, but this one GOT me. i definitely recommend it.

i also highly recommend checking out all four of those authors' other works. robie has an AU that i really enjoyed, searidings has a fun little competitive supercorp one shot, jazzfordshire has one of my favorite smutty one shots, and AKAWWJJD has a mxy rewrite that is just wonderful.

i've read so many more that were really worth reading, so i highly recommend scrolling through the supercorp tag on ao3 and filtering out the results to find ones you might be into. i could've mentioned a bunch more that i enjoyed, but i figured i'd keep it to my top four and the honorable mentions because the authors all happened to have multiple i love. i've also got like, more than 40 open ao3 tabs currently, so i know my favorites list will definitely be growing.

"It's fine, Tim. I'm fine." Lucy looks up and blinks several times before she focuses on his face.

"I never said you weren't. But it's 1:30 in the morning, and you haven't let that couch since dinner."

"I have so!"

"Getting up for coffee at 9 p.m. doesn't count."

"There's only like 200 pages left. I'm over halfway; I'll come to bed when I finish."

"Lucy. That's the entire book. In one night."

"It's really good."

"And it will be really good tomorrow too."

Lucy flips a few pages ahead. "Fine. I'll just finish this chapter."

"Fine." Tim takes a couple steps closer. "Sit up."

"What?"

"Sit up. I'll sit with you, and we'll go to bed together."

"I don't need a babysitter."

"I know. But our bed is better with you in it." Lucy's expression softens as she leans forward enough for him to slide in behind her. He wraps an arm around her chest as she settles back into his side and picks her book up from her lap.

It's not even two pages later that Tim is making good on his promise. The book drops back to Lucy's chest and her breathing evens out. Tim takes it gently and slides a receipt from the coffee table between the pages.

He carries Lucy down the hall, tucked against his chest. After he lays her down, he pulls her socks off, knowing she'll whine about her feet being too warm if they stay on all night. When he climbs into bed beside her, pulling the covers over them both, she shifts around until her body is pressed back against his.

Again, he wraps am arm around her torso, pulling her close. His eyes are already drooping, but he finds the top of her head anyway, pressing his face into her hair and dropping a kiss there.

She's going to complain in the morning, he's sure, but he stands by what he said earlier.

The book will still be there.

Hello! Thank you so much for asking, and sorry this took so long! Work has been crazy and I might have gone a little overboard haha. I'm going to answer everything in one ask, so here are numbers 6-13 as well. Also these are basically all Wilmon fics because I love those boys so much.

From the 2023 Young Royals Fanfic Ask List: (I'll do more of these if people want, I love talking about fics)

6. Favorite one-shot fanfic: Pretty much everything by NerdGirl07, especially Promise Me (You're Safe) and Centre of the Storm.

7. Favorite chaptered fanfic: I have so may favorites. As Long As We Have Each Other by groenendael (@groenendaelfic) is my current favorite post-season 2 fic. Right now I'm reading Doesn't Everyone Belong in the Arms of the Sacred by painterssong (@alltoowille) and I'm loving it.

8. Fluff recommandation: This is such an angst-heavy fandom, sometimes it's hard to find pure fluff. I loved Playing House by LovelyLittleLosers (@lovelylittlelosers), Wille experiencing normal things, even just getting lost in Ikea, brings me so much joy.

9. Crack recommandation: Simon Eriksson: Just Some Guy From Biology and Patience Is A Virtue and I Have None, both by fandom_commitment_issues (@zee-has-commitment-issues).

10. Smut recommandation: Love Would be Burning Red by embracethevoid (@ungaroyals) and disruptedthesky (@omar-rudeberg) and You Can Send Me to the Lord by YoungRydbergs for smut with plot. They're both parts of series, so you might want to read the other parts first, especially for You Can Send Me to the Lord. If you want smut with less plot, I liked the Sense and Sensuous series by YulianaHenderson. (one of these days I need to make a spicy fic rec list)

11. Angst recommandation: This fandom writes so many incredible angst fics, it's hard for me to pick! I loved A Palm to My Mouth, I Said it, Almost by MyArtificialFlowers and It's All So Incredibly Loud by pysanky (@pysankywrites-updates). Please read the tags before reading these, they are both very angsty.

12. Kid fic recommandation: I love kid fics so much and girl dads Wilmon even more, though I have many thoughts about whether Wilmon would want their kids to grow up royal. Some of my favorites are Thoughts On a Stormy Night by LaChicaMarvel and Painted Memories by NerdGirl07, as well as When Dividing up the Universe, You Could Have Mine by the_old_stairs.

13. Christmas fic recommendation: And That's How Simon Got Banned from Christmas Decorating by ASkyofKai. If you want a slightly angsty one, Merry Crisis by pysanky (@pysankywrites-updates) - ngl I'm low-key obsessed with the Third Year Things series, it's perfect and everyone should go read it right now. (if anyone knows any other third year Wilmon fics please let me know, I'm dying to read more)

20. Your « not Wilmon » favorite ship/couple: Henry/Walter (do they have a ship name?? Wenry? Halter?) probably. It's an angsty post-breakup fic, but I loved Closure by stretchoutandwait (@stretchoutfics).

36. Your favorite trope: This is kind of basic, but I love friends to lovers. I'll also always read a sick fic where Character A has to take care of Character B (bonus points if Character B insists Character A leaves so they don't get sick, and/or they deny that they're sick), such as Baby, You're the Cure (So Let Me Close to You) by isnt_that_wizard (@skateboardtotheheart) - it's part of a series, but you can read it on its own.

37. The trope you didn't expect to like: Only Fools Remain Sane by Elin98 made me love fake dating.

42. Do you like to comment on the fic you read: I do! I'm just really bad at doing it consistently because I tend to write whole essays so it takes me a long time.

I would like to add, TIOY has been promoted as a movie that's focused on WOMEN. About how women get criticized way more than men. It only makes sense that Anne would bring up BOTTOMS a movie that, as you said, is a queer movie acted and written by QUEER WOMEN.

Queen, you are so right. WLW ships and content have historically been less popular in fandom spaces and despite me loving RWRB with my entire pathetic heart, I do consider it a huge win that Bottoms is being considered a cult classic despite it performing not so well at the box office (which tbh, is a hallmark of a true cult classic anyways!)

I am also really proud of Nick for always steering the discussion around Bottoms back to the incredible women that were in it.

“Go say hi,” Lisa said to Chris as he held one of his action figures in his hand.

“Mooomm, I don’t want to.” Chris said and pouted, looking over to the new family that was moving in across the street from them.

“You should make more friends. You’ll see them a lot too. Take your brother.” She said and motioned for Scott to come over. “Scott, go with Chris and say hi to the new kids across the street.” She said.

Chris narrowed his eyes and took Scott’s hand, walking carefully across the street to say hello. Lisa followed behind, smiling at your mother. “Hello, this is Chris and Scott, and I’m Lisa. We live across the street. I wanted to introduce these two since it looks like you have one around their age.” She said to your mother.

Your mom smiled and nodded, looking down at you. “This is (Y/N), they’re 7 years old.” She said and smiled. “(Y/N), can you say hi to Scott and Chris?” She asked, watching as you peaked your head from behind her leg.

“Hi,” you said timidly. “Do you want to see my toys? I have.. uh.. I have a few like yours.” You said and motioned to Chris’s toy in his hands.

Chris looked up at Lisa and she nodded, watching as the three kids walked over to the small bin of toys nearby. The three of you sitting together in the front yard of your house would become a common occurrence over the next few years, but more specifically Chris and you. You were in the same first grade class and you two were inseparable for years. Even during the summers, you did theater with him at the community center.

17 years old

“What do you mean you’re not taking me to the dance?” You said into the phone, frowning as you looked down to your outfit, one you spent months looking for as it was your senior prom. Your date let out some excuse about not wanting to go, so you ended up on your own.

You walked down the steps to face your parents. “My date isn't coming.” You said, dejected. “At all.” You said.

Your head perked up when you heard Chris’s familiar voice. “I can take you,” he said and smiled. “You look too amazing to be left without an escort.” He said and looked you up and down, admiring the whole ensemble you had put on for the dance.

“Chris,” you said and smiled at him, nodding your head. “Alright, fine,” you said and came down the steps, taking his arm and letting your mom take a few pictures.

“Oh! You two look so cute together. When are you going to get together?” She asked and you felt a rush of heat on the back of your neck.

“Mom!” You said, your eyes widening slightly.

“What? You two have been best friends since you were 7! You look incredibly together.” She said and shrugged as she took another picture. “I’m just saying, I would completely approve if Chris asked you out.”

“You have no shame,” you muttered and smiled a bit as Chris squeezed your waist. “She’s kidding, obviously.” You said.

“Obviously,” Chris teased and smiled, looking at the camera. “We even match.” He whispered, causing you to laugh softly.

“We do, it’s almost like fate.” You joked and smiled a bit, the sadness of your date ditching you fading away the more Chris sent small jokes and quips your way. You couldn’t help but feel embarrassed because you would completely approve if Chris asked you out too. You would say yes, but you were his best friend and there was no way he would ask you out.

Little did you know that Chris felt and thought the same way. With you standing next to him, in the amazing formal outfit you picked out (which you had droned on for weeks to him, and he wasn’t complaining), laughing at his jokes, he knew that he would love for this to become a reality every day. But he couldn’t say anything, because he was your best friend. And there was no way you would say yes if he asked you out.

27 years old

It wasn’t like you to show up to Chris’s apartment in Boston at 3 in the morning. It wasn’t like you to show up anywhere but your bed at 3 in the morning, but here you were, knocking on his door as you clutched your duffle bag in your hands.

You waited a few moments, wanting to knock again until you saw him open the door. The sweats he clearly threw on a few seconds ago were hanging low on his hips as he rubbed his eyes. Those eyes widened when he saw your state. You had clearly been crying, bags under your eyes, holding the same duffle bag you used when you went off to college.

“(Y/N)… what- what are you doing here?” He asked, the tiredness he was feeling completely fading away.

“Alex broke up with me.” You said, your voice cracking. “We’re not getting married… and we aren’t fiancés… or even dating… anymore.” You said, your lip quivering.

“Oh… (Y/N)…” Chris said quietly. “Come in,” he said quietly and opened the door more, letting you step inside. He took your bag and set it down on his kitchen counter. “Come ‘ere.” He said and took you in his arms, letting you cry into his chest.

“I don’t know what I did wrong.” You sobbed and held onto him tightly, barely noticing his bare chest.

“You didn’t do anything wrong, (Y/N). Alex is an idiot for breaking up with you.” Chris replied quietly and kissed the top of your head.

“No, Alex,” you hiccuped but continued, “said I was clingy and annoying and that I never gave them any room to do anything.” You finished and sniffed, shaking your head. “I didn’t- they never said anything like that before. How was I supposed to know?” You asked.

Chris furrowed his eyebrows and pulled away from the hug, making you look at him. “Hey, you, (Y/N), are an amazing person and if Alex can’t see that, they don’t really deserve to marry you. Or date you.” He said and looked into your eyes. “And I’ll be honest, they never really did.” He said.

You frowned even more, blinking your eyes a few times as you took in his words. “What do you mean? I loved Alex… I still.. I still love Alex. We were going to get married and then in a couple years have kids and then… and then our lives would be good.” You said.

“You can do that with someone else, (Y/N/N).” Chris responded, wiping away a few tears from your cheeks.

“With who? I built a whole life with them.” You said, glancing down but looking right back at Chris when he paused. “See? You don’t even-“

“With me,” he interrupted, letting his hands drop to hold yours in his instead. “With me, (Y/N). I’ve been an idiot. I’ve liked you ever since we were 17 and your date left you alone for prom. No, I’ve loved you ever since then.. before then even. And more than a best friend. As a partner. As someone who I want to spend the rest of my life with. To love, romantically, and to be there for when you’re upset or happy or anything as long as I get to be there for it.” He said and looked into your eyes. “I’m in love with you.”

Those words made more tears well in your eyes, but not from sadness, from happiness. “Really?” You asked and did your best to smile when he nodded. “Chris…” you whispered, not being able to respond from the amount of emotions flowing through your body at the moment. You wrapped your arms around his waist, burying your head in his chest again. “God I love you too… I’m in love the you.” You muttered quietly and pulled away when you caught your breath. “I’m in love with you.” You said clearly, looking in his eyes.

“Then why are you still crying?” He asked and you let out a small laugh.

“I did just get out of a 4 year relationship with my fiancé.” You quipped, sniffing and smiling when he chuckled.

“Come here, baby,” Chris whispered and pulled you into his chest again. “We can talk later. Right now, come lay in bed with me and we can cuddle until you fall asleep.” He said quietly.

28 years old

“Okay.. now you can open your eyes.” Chris said, smiling as he slid the blindfold from your eyes.

You took in your surroundings, noticing that you were standing in the front yard of your childhood home. In the same one, and the same spot, you had met Chris all those years ago. “Chris.. are we here for dinner with my parents?” You asked, confused as you turned around to him, gasping as he was down on one knee.

He took one of your hands as he started his speech. “(Y/N), 21 years ago, on this day, we met in this very yard. And I couldn’t be happier for that either. My mom pushed me to say hi to the new kid across the street, and if she didn’t, I wouldn’t have met the most amazing person in my life. I wouldn’t have met you. You’ve been my best friend, and the love of my life for all those years. Please, make me even happier and marry me?” He asked, pulling out a ring from his jacket.

“Oh, god, Chris, yes.” You muttered, not even waiting for him to stand up before you got down on the ground and kissed him deeply. “I love you so much.” You whispered against his lips and kissed him again, laughing when he pulled away and asked if he could put the ring on your finger. “We gotta get you a matching on.” You noted, grinning from ear to ear as you heard his laugh ring out.

“I love you, (Y/N). And I always will.” He reminded you again before planting another passionate and love-filled kiss on your lips.

I'm curious, what are your reasons for shipping Pikeuna. I ship them too I'm just curious as how you got into it :)

Oh I have so many reasons, Anon. And I'm not even gonna 'read more' this because I want people to see the gifs I put effort into making.

Firstly, I watched The Cage pilot when I was a teenager, and fell absolutely hopelessly in love with Number One.

She was the First Officer of the Enterprise (back in an era where women were meant to be quiet and look pretty - evidenced by the fact that the network told Roddenberry he could keep the woman or the alien), she was cold and calculating and good at her job. But wore nail varnish, and obviously had emotions she kept under wraps. I was smitten.

Secondly:

I'm a sucker for the Talosians calling her out over her CANONICAL feelings about Pike. (Always love when a ship has basis in canon)

And I mean, they just look like a good power couple okay? And I always love a good power couple.

So I liked the idea of them from the get go, since I was a teenager.

Then Star Trek Discovery happened. And I found out Number One was in Season 2 (played by the original Mystique no less) and I was hooked again.

Here they are making eyes at each other and flirting over Number One's spicy food choices.

I thought, 'they're not going to keep Number One's crush on Pike are they?' I mean they've changed Pike from being a misogynist (thank god), so would they keep that?

But Number One knows him far too well (she told the Enterprise's engineer that Pike would think the holograms were too much like ghosts). So much so that Spock even calls her out on it:

Spock: You have made a most careful study of the captain.

Number One:

She freaks out and then slams her hand against the communication panel to contact the engineer and change the subject. GIRL STILL HAS IT BAD GUYS.

I love unrequited love (as long as it's secretly or eventually requited...)

And they just look GOOD together (Anson and Rebecca have such good chemistry)

And finally, I always ship the 'mum and dad' pairings. Roslin/Adama (BSG), Sam/Jack (SG1), Sheppard/Weir (SGA), Picard/Crusher (TNG), Janeway/Chakotay (Voyager), DeWitt/Dominic (Dollhouse) - and I'm sure I'm missing some. I just like the power couple who are also kind of the parents of the group. It's just my otp vibe.

Plus Una is my fave character, and I always enjoy shows more when I get to ship my fave with someone. And let's be honest GIRL BOSS/MALE WIFE is the best otp type to have.

"you do? Since when?" She smiled, getting two plates.

"since I tried hiding from Lillian in the kitchen and the chef taught me that baking is the most scientific method of cooking. Everything's precise and exactly as the recipe says, otherwise you mess it up" she said softly, watching anxiously how Kara tried a bite of her pie. "Lillian allowed it because it was scientific in a way"

"this is amazing." Kara said around a mouthful. "The crust is perfect, the filling is sweet and sour and just perfect." She swallowed and got another spoonful in her mouth.

"do you really like it?"

"you have to teach me" she nodded eagerly, surprised by Lena's ability.

"Lucy, you're freezing." Tim rubs his hands up and down your arms.

"Tim, it's fine, really," she argues, but still pouts when he takes a step back.

"It's not. You don't have to lie to me about this." He adds or anything, but the words are muffled by the layers of sweatshirt material he's pulling over his head. "Here."

"It's fine, you don't have to be cold on my accou-"

"Arms up." Tim's voice drops into the sort of harsh command she's hardly heard since her days as his rookie. When she complies, he works the sleeves over her hands and helps keep her ponytail from snagging on the neckhole.

When his hands have smoothed the hem down across her waist, he moves away again. The fabric is still warm from his body, and the combined scent of his body wash and their laundry detergent envelop her.

Thank you for asking! I think I was supposed to pick one for each of these, but I love too many fics and I love talking about fics too much so I went overboard haha.

2. Terrible OC (In terms of, like, villains. We're being positive today!):

This is a hard one! I've always loved Sarah (@sarahsficarchive)'s OCs in Straight Camp. Most of them aren't really villains though. Other OCs I've loved include Jewls5's Donna Shacklebolt (also not a villain) in The Life and Times, and aletterinthenameofsanity's definitely not villainous OCs Claudia and Abraham in Noble Heart Such as Yours. I also loved how @unapologeticallyjaylos writes Maleficent in In Loco Parentis - Maleficent isn't an OC, but the fic is an AU so it's close enough.

3. Headcanon you've adopted from a writer:

Oh this is hard...pretty much the entirety of elecktrum's Sword and Shield Jewel and Song series has become my headcanon for the Pevensies in Narnia during the Golden Age, especially the inner workings of Cair Paravel. I've adopted the headcanon that Bobby "stole" Luke's songs because he signed a bad contract after Luke, Alex, and Reggie died and was trying to keep their legacy alive from @wr0temyway0ut's amazing fic My Name is Luke. I also stole the headcanon that Willie wanted to be an astronomer when he was alive from partyghost (Arokel)'s wonderful fic How Long Till My Soul Gets It Right.

23. An unfinished/updating fic that is totally worth the wait:

I can't pick one! A lot of my faves have been recently completed, but I'm currently obsessed with @waybeforeyourtime's And That’s How You Make History, Baby, @skateboardtotheheart's series It's Like A Multicolored Snapshot (Stuck in my Brain), @groenendaelfic's As Long As We Have Each Other, RubyIntyale's Wear Your Independence Like a Crown, and demeterfic's Hope Against Hope. Also @pysankywrites-updates's Paper Thin and their series Third Year Things. It hasn't been updated in a while, but I love @unapologeticallyjaylos's Mistaken for a Miracle as well.
