robert lightwood's character is so crazy like in tmi he's just alec's homophobic dad and then all of sudden your reading his internal monologues about how he doesn't like women and feels like he's performing in nearly every aspect of his life and how weirdly close him and his bestie (who's in love with him) are. like huh.

I watched "the hunger games the ballad of songbirds and snakes" and it seemed to me that he would be the perfect young Valentine!

In "city of glass," when Sebastian expressed his opinion about the entire team, he called Alec unworthy of being a shadowhunter, disgusting because he was unconventional, and I wondered if he had picked up such contempt for LGBT people from Valentine? If so, how did Valentine feel about Michael, because, of course, he knew who Michael loved, but still kept him in a circle. Could Valentine have advised Michael to confess his love to Robert, because he knew that this would lead to their quarrel and the removal of Michael, who is not only LGBT, but and he was not afraid to express his opinion.
If Valentine had known that Jocelyn had ship him with Lucian😂

rereading tftsa now, specifically the evil we love, is odd. because in the WEIRDEST way possible and a way i never would think to read robert, his narrative in the story almost reads like a queer/aro character. and let me be clear i DONT mean the cheating LMFAO. hes still shitty for that. looking at other women. but the way he describes feeling as if something was wrong with him (not just for looking at women who were not maryse) and he was missing something fundamentally. that he didnt understand what ‘real’ love was and that he couldnt imagine a life outside/beyond/more important than his partnership with michael. the description of it is almost alarmingly personal to me. the way he sees michael as his only constant relationship, like a platonic life partner. it just makes me think of my journey and others’ and feelings about being aromantic and trying to parse out romantic attraction. anyways. hes still shitty and it makes me want to cry and sob what happened between michael and him and i wish they wouldve just kissed and made up fr…..sigh

Love, real love, is being seen. Being known. Knowing the ugliest part of someone, and loving them anyway. And . . . I guess I think two people in love become something else, something more than the sum of their parts, you know? That it must be like you’re creating a new world that exists just for the two of you. You’re gods of your own pocket universe.” He laughed a little then, as if he felt foolish. “That must sound ridiculous.”

“Love?” Michael smiled down at his hands. “Love, real love, is being seen. Being known. Knowing the ugliest part of someone, and loving them anyway. And … I guess I think two people in love become something else, something more than the sum of their parts, you know? That it must be like you’re creating a new world that exists just for the two of you. You’re gods of your own pocket universe.”

As long as Simon didn't think about the past, the past couldn't hurt him. But, increasingly, he couldn't help himself. There was too much pleasure in the pain.

I am very interested in their relationship, although most likely their friendship was very toxic. Did Luke even realize that Valentine had betrayed him before, even before he handed him the dagger and told him to kill himself? Valentine betrayed him when he framed him, he betrayed their friendship, their parabatai bond... And after that, Luke didn't hate him. And after that, it's Valentine who accuses Luke of betrayal! Ah, I want a story about them!
A little reminder: Luke realized he was in love with Jocelyn when Valentine started dating her. The curse of the parabatai "one woman for two"?

Arthur chuckled dryly. "Herondale, indeed," he said. His eyes seemed to burn: There was a look of sickness in them, like the heat of a fever. He rose to his feet and came over to Kit, staring down into his face. "Why did you follow Valentine?" he said. "You, who had everything? 'Yea, is not even Apollo, with hair and harpstring of gold, a bitter God to follow, a beautiful God to behold?'  — Lord of Shadows. - Cassandra Clare
Indeed, why? I never found the real reason in the books. Stephen, as we understood, had very loving parents, and they strangled him with this love. Apparently, they demanded and expected a lot from him. Did they want something from him that he didn't want? Is this the reason why Herondale joined Valentine's hate group? although his parents allowed him to be himself, he was interested in primitive culture, arrived at Idris Academy in an atypical image for shadowhunters, and his parents allowed him to do so… Or was it also his protest? well, at the academy he was a rebellious teenager who did not want to listen to his father and mother (it's better to listen to a strange nazi guy). but after the academy… why? most likely, he, like many of the circle, did not want the total destruction of the undead, and went after Valentine for his own personal reasons. So what was missing for Stephen?
