What’s your most unpopular DN opinion? (It can be about canon, fanon the fandom)

i actually hate the way a good chunk of the death note fandom views light yagami’s character in a black and white perspective, and i dislike the belief that understanding and sympathizing with him means condoning his actions. viewing death note in a black and white perspective completely misses the whole point about death note.

light yagami is a complex character. he is a product of his upbringing, and he is the protagonist of a tragedy. he lived his young life wallowing in emptiness and depression in a world that felt meaningless to him, and the moment he got something that could drastically change that and give him purpose and challenge, no matter how corrupt that “something” was, he immediately clung to it because he just felt that empty.

and he becomes even more tragic when it becomes more visible that the death note that gave him “purpose” left him just as hollow as he was before he found it. he continues to commit these horrible acts anyway because there was just no clean way of turning back because his old life will never be the way it was.

for me, he is beyond just an “insane serial killer” like how some of the fandom jokes about him. his story is quite shakespearean, and i love dissecting his brain whenever i get the opportunity because i just love figuring out his logic pathways and finding even more tragic realizations about him.

Had a very silly thought which started as “how would Fornax feel if there was a mammet made in their likeness” and evolved into “Grand Company Eorzea has created Wind-Up Fornax’s as a mascot to encourage people to run frontlines” 🫢

i think about a miniscule fornax very often (tho still BIG in terms of being mammet sized), they'd be flattered if anything! especially if it happens to have their itty bitty horns and comically large tail

a wind-up fornax being a mascot for frontlines tho...... now THAT'S a delightful thought >:3c

they don the seal rock coat and has two modes: one being mch and having a tiny gun, and the other is just them putting their fists up and doing occasional tail whip animations, sometimes having a "battle cry" of sorts..... 10/10 mini fornax is an itty bitty bloodthirsty cheerleader that channels her energy into others, and will hide in your pocket in the battlefield and give you early warnings that the team is at risk/about to be pinched (she VERY frantically yells "DO NOT FALL FOR THE SAM-IN-GUARD IN THE MIDDLE OF A CROWD BAIT, LEST YOU WANT TO EXPLODE")

OKAY SO this was a reference to that gif of Marius hearing Valjean's confession, which is one of my favourite Les Mis memes of all time:

okay anyways: modern enjolsette siblings AU where Marius wins cruise trip tickets but instead of only bringing his new gf Cosette as a date, he somehow manages to bring her entire family on board. Cue awkward bonding with Enjolras before eventual awkward bonding with Valjean <3 platonic bed-sharing is also a recurring thing in the fic bc it's the highest form of trust and love i know

A little snippet from it:

“Papa, look!” Cosette slipped away from Marius’ side to join her father. “They switched on the surf simulators on the deck! Should we try that later?"

As her father quietly, but lovingly, told her that perhaps he was a bit too old for surfing, Enjolras faced Marius.

“How are you, Marius? I haven't seen you in a while.”

Marius, who couldn't remember a single time Enjolras had initiated a conversation with him, merely replied with a mute nod.

Enjolras didn’t seem fazed; instead, he snuck a look at his father before stepping closer to Marius.

“I really am sorry we have to be here,” he said quietly. “But you know how our father is.”

“It’s fine, really…”

“Cosette told me you were quite upset.”

Marius shrugged weakly. “As you said, nothing can be done.”

Enjolras hummed and for the next few minutes, didn’t say anything as the queue began to move forward. Cosette continued to cling to her father.

“Well,” Enjolras spoke up once more. “There is no better time to get on his good side than now, right?”

Marius tried not to look too aghast.

“Ah er, I'm not too sure…Cosette wanted this trip to just be the two of us y’know, and we were thinking to just…go and explore the ship on our own? Not to say you and your father are bad company! But it's just that we were thinking of— y'know— um—”

“I understand.” Enjolras graciously cut in, sparing Marius from making a bigger fool of himself. His eyes flickered over to his family.

ANYWAYS THE HCS UR DRAWING SPECIFICALLY LINED UP WITH ARE:

Moon being taller/generally bigger than Sig…normally i’m not feral over height differences but god theirs drives me insane

Moon loving the stars. I feel like after her collapse, they were one of the few things that brought her comfort. Within canon I’m pretty sure you can see the stars even during the day (they’re green too!! super cool) so she loves to study them and their movements. The rare occasions when the rain comes after night falls are her favorites, being able to see them more clearly in the dark always excites her. Going on a lil stargazing date would probably melt her heart !!

Sig being fucking whipped for Moon 😭 this is a fucking given but him being distracted and at Moon instead of the sky because she considers her prettier than even the starts makes me. AUGH.

(More general hcs below the cut so this post doesn’t become a million miles long)

Sig learns to knit and makes Moon a scarf and a couple cloaks after her collapse. He actually has a lot of hobbies because he doesn’t think the great problem is solvable, nor does he really care to solve it anyways. He even says he’s got “nothing better to do with my time” when Suns asks him if he’s going to purpose another messenger. Meanwhile Suns says “you have two options, do nothing or work like you’re supposed to” in terms of what to do with your time.

Moon loves picking Sig up/holding her/generally grabbing her n throwing her around because she’s actually quite strong and Sig is smaller than her. Sig does not mind in the slightest.

They’re both interested in bioengineering. Sig more so, but Moon mentons Rivulet’s interesting adaptations and knows a lot about the flora and fauna of the world. I think they bonded over this quite a bit.

Speaking of, Sig was also a more medical-oriented facility. Pebbles mentions that he “was not a medical facility even when the equipment was functioning” to hunter, so the iterators may have had more specialized niches as the generations went on. Therefore, she becomes the sort of defacto “puppet-doctor” of the local group, helping to fix things like broken joints or umbilicals after the ancients disappear. Also just the slag reset keys in general. I have a drawing about this I’m finishing soon so watch out for that hehe

Moon’s kindness absolutely rubbed off on Sig. When he first got put online, she interacted with him a lot as his personality core was still developing, and he picked up on some of her traits. In terms of age I see their group as Moon and Suns (gen 1), Sig and Chasing Wind (mid gen) and Unparalleled Innocence and Pebbles (final gen).

SIG TEACHING MOON STUPID GAMER LINGO AND UWU SPEAK CAUSES A DISASTER IN THE LOCAL GROUP CHATS. The first time she says “poggers” sends everyone into an uproar and Sig gets multiple DMs being like “WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS.”. Sig thinks it’s the funniest shit in the world.

Moon is a lesbian, Sig is a bisexual gender-fluid disaster. I’m sure you can tell from my rambles I use he/she/they/it pronouns for her.

Moon’s nickname for Sig is “doll”. “Little thing” is also a common one, since Sig jokes that his gender is just “thingy”.

I can’t think of any more but thank you so much for the ask!! I love these two so fucking much and getting to ramble about them makes me so happy, especially because I’m absolutely suffering on my period rn and it distracted me from the pain. I love ur art sm!!!!

1. the goodest guy alive vs the worst guy alive. hate it. overdone. overexaggerated. uncreative. have some Nuance. do better

2. the strongest/most skilled guy alive. no one can stop him, he is too powerful. like calm tf down, being the best in the world at something doesn't even exist and everyone has Some kind of weakness. and then ofc some teenager comes along and beats them. pathetic

okay i admit. i have liked this ship for a while, but more so in the popular god/servant dynamic fanworks like to portray them with. but i’ve recently come around to absolutely loving them where they’re viewing each other as equals, or, at the very least, with light seeing mikami as his equal while mikami has to battle his own inferiority complex and insecurities.

that being said, service top mikami and bossy power bottom light is my favorite kind of mikalight, and it is a fucking crime that there aren’t enough fanworks with that dynamic in mind

1. Playing card games

competitive as hell when it comes to friendly games. if their expression changes when they draw in uno they just got a draw four and is plotting your downfall. run.

2. Acting/pretending to act a certain way

pretending they don't actually have a crush on someone is one of my favorite things about them! she'll blush and then turn away to hide it. they try so very hard to not show it, but once tristian rolls around they can't help but feel weak to him like a dark type is weak to fairy.

4. Receiving a present

they don't think they've actually done anything to earn it. which is objectively wrong at this point, with them saving blackview and all, but they're not one to reject a gift. they actually think it's really nice that someone thought about them.
