"LET'S START FROM SCRATCH AGAIN AND DO IT RIGHT THIS TIME" -- A 2008 MARVEL STUDIOS STORY.
FILM: "The Incredible Hulk" (2008)
DIRECTOR: Louis Leterrier
SCREENWRITER: Zack Penn
CINEMATOGRAPHY: Peter Menzies Jr.
PRODUCTION COMPANIES: Marvel Studios & Valhalla Motion Pictures
DISTRIBUTION: Universal Pictures
OVERVIEW: "In 2003, Universal released Ang Lee's adaptation of "The Incredible Hulk," one of the most popular and enduring Marvel superheroes (titled "Hulk"). Five years later, Universal has released yet another version of "The Incredible Hulk" (which opened June 13th). This new Hulk movie is actually a "let's start from scratch again and do it right this time" concept. That's because Lee's cerebral approach did not wow the fan base.
PART II: Five years later, Marvel Studios is trying to re-launch the franchise on its own -- Universal is only distributing the movie. French action specialist Louis Leterrier ("The Transporter") directed a brand new cast, featuring Edward Norton as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, and opted for a completely different approach to visual effects.
In 2003, Industrial Light & Magic created some 600 effects shots. In 2008, VFX Supervisor Kurt Williams and VFX Producer Paul Molles oversaw about 800 shots produced by seven different facilities. Rhythm & Hues (including R&H India) produced 224 character animation shots, plus 10 composites, while Hydraulx realized 248 shots featuring complex composites, CG environments, CG helicopter and a full CG Abomination transformation.
Other key vendors included Soho VFX (114 shots -- composites and CG environments) and Image Engine (75 shots -- blood drop shot, plus a CG environment for Rhythm & Hues). Lola VFX, G Creative and X1 also worked on the project."

What would a Genre Swap between DJ Subatomic Supernova and SAYU be like?
Tumblr media
Introducing D33P S3A and SGR! The genre swaps between Sayu & DJ Subatomic Supernova!
Co designed and drawn By Mod R and Mod Nine We came up with a few things regarding them both! Read below because it gets a bit lengthy
SGR:
- Sayu is no longer a virtual mermaid but a runaway alien from a planet far out of the Milky Way, she crashed landed onto the outskirts of vinyl city in her escape pod where a group of teens found her during their annual stargazing trip. (the sayu crew!) they found a mysterious lump of brightly coloured pink and blue goo inside this mysterious pod and when Tila was the first to open the hatch the goo formed to resemble someone like her. (The hair, the baggy clothes etc) The only sounds she could make at the time were her own alien language and the word Pi. The crew later named her Pisces taking inspo from the constellation - The SGR crew run a radio station that focuses on space exploration and are a Nu Disco band named SGR. (Which means Soft Gamma ray but later was changed to Star Girl Radio) The crew end up housing Pisces and try and hide the fact they have a literal wanted alien with them. She soon turns into their mascot and the lead singer for their band. Tila taught her to sing and they both sing lead. Whilst Dodo / Sofa / Remi add their own respective styles to the music. So their music is a whole mix of flavours that culminate into one groovy intergalactic disco. They’re the charters of Cast Tech; They only found out Pisces could groove once she was messing with the turntables in their studio and her goo like hands got stuck on some records on the deck. Cue impromptu groove session - The SGR crew have a way more prominent roll and influence here; They help make Cast Tech into a hub for citizens that a bit more out of this world that they let on. If you get my drift. - Personality wise she’s more than she lets on; though bubbly and curious about this new found world around her she’s actually pretty smart and strategic. She’s helping SGR build new tech and devices and is low-key their mechanic at times. Being an alien has its advantages when it comes to tech. Although music is a new addition she isn’t familiar with. She’s a bit quirky, loud and kind of out there but she means well - Mod Nine
D33P S3A: - Personality wise he still follows the canon djss arrogance. In this version D33p S3a might be more ignorant than arrogant, caring about himself and his work more than being better. Ignoring a lot that doesnt benefit or impact himself directly. This would also explain why he is the last on the leaderboard and not caring about it. - He will boast about sea and it's creatures, calling bbj amoebas and plankton's on many instances. Instead of space manipulation, he is capable of manipulating water. The ability to change size still retains and is using it in the boss battle through the phases, just like djss. - His battle goes from the shore where you meet him up into deep deep waters. In each and every phase the background gets darker and harder to beat, up until the final phase where everything seems to be almost pitch dark, safe for some visuals to fight. D33p s3as jacket seems to be have some glowing details, putting him into the spotlight. (It also seems to be reversible and have webbed hands) - His occupation is marine biologist, a well known and respected one. He spent majority of his life learning about sea. His occupation as an artist was just a side hobby, that gotten out of hand and landed him in this position. He uses the status that came with it to fund his research - Mod R

Classic Retrovision Milestones
64 years ago today, November 19, 1959, The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show premiered. (known as Rocky & His Friends during the first two seasons and as The Bullwinkle Show for the last three seasons) It originally aired from November 19, 1959, to June 27, 1964, on the ABC and NBC television networks. Produced by Jay Ward Productions, the series is structured as a variety show, with the main feature being the serialized adventures of the two title characters, the anthropomorphic moose Bullwinkle and flying squirrel Rocky. The main adversaries in most of their adventures are the Russian-like spies Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatale. Supporting segments include Dudley Do-Right (a parody of old-time melodrama), Peabody's Improbable History (a dog and his pet boy Sherman traveling through time), and Fractured Fairy Tales (classic fairy tales retold in comic fashion), among others.
Rocky & Bullwinkle is known for quality writing and wry humor. Mixing puns, cultural and topical satire, and self-referential humor, it appealed to adults as well as children. It was also one of the first cartoons whose animation was outsourced; storyboards were shipped to Gamma Productions, a Mexican studio also employed by Total Television. The art has a choppy, unpolished look and the animation is extremely limited even by television animation standards at the time. Yet the series has long been held in high esteem by those who have seen it; some critics described the series as a well-written radio program with pictures.
The show was shuffled around several times (airing in afternoon, prime time, and Saturday morning time slots), but was influential to other animated series from The Simpsons to Rocko's Modern Life. Segments from the series were later recycled in the Hoppity Hooper show.
There have been numerous feature film adaptations of the series' various segments, such as the 2000 film The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle which blended live-action and computer animation and the 1999 live-action film Dudley Do-Right, which both received poor reviews and were financially unsuccessful. By contrast, an animated feature film adaptation of the "Peabody's Improbable History" segment, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, was released to good reviews in 2014.
Mr. Peabody will star in a new reboot series picked up for 13-episodes.
In 2013, Rocky and His Friends and The Bullwinkle Show were ranked the sixth Greatest TV Cartoon of All Time by TV Guide.

Hey! Hope you don"t mind me asking so many questions about your process, I promise my style is entirely different, the general theme of your art though is what ive been striving for! Please dont hesitate to share any limits to it!
Anyway, how do you clean up your drawings:0? I believe you said you start out on paper, so how do you get it on digital without it looking messy? Thanks!
No problem! Asking questions is the best way to learn anything, and I don't mind answering them.
I do start off on paper and transfer it to digital. Below is a comparison of chapter 3, page 17's scan file (all traditional, no edits done yet) versus its digitally cleaned-up version (left to right).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The edits on this page are heavier in comparison to some of the other pages, especially since I made a mistake that would affect the narrative (see bottom right panel).
To scan, I usually use the large flatbed Epson scanners provided by my school. When I'm away or on vacation, I resort to using a copier machine (not always great results, but it works out in the end. The first six pages of chapter 3 were copier machine scans). There's a setting called "Gamma" that I like to set to around 1.2. I don't know what it does, but it makes the pages look crisper overall.
After I import my scan file to Clip Studio, I create two correction layers to put on top of the page. One is a tone curve layer and the other is a posterization layer. For the former, I try to make an "S" curve to push the contrast. For the latter, I set it to around 6. These correction layers help the black-and-white contrast shine and define the edges better.
The last step before toning and lettering is the edit layer. I create a new raster layer to make corrections to the page. Sometimes, I have to go in and redraw a large section (like in the last panel), but most of the time, I'm going in and cleaning up areas. My white ink isn't always opaque, so it'll create a gray tone that I have to add digital white over. Other edits include adding in smaller things I forgot to draw or stuff that just would be easier to draw digitally.

KHR CELEBRITY AU PART 2
OTHER CELEBRITIES
Skull - I'm kind of cheating here and taking from canon, but Skull is a daredevil through and through. Whether it's playing it up and astounding live audiences or putting on thrill-rides of a show for the television camera while doing special and guest spots, Skull's fame is accomplished through his career as a daredevil and his penchant for insane, death-defying stunts.
Bermuda I see as a mixed-martial artist or an ECW fighter.
Small Gia, Didi and Jeje are all notorious serial killers with their own dedicated fanbases. Birds is another infamous killer along the lines of Manson, who never physically killed anyone himself but orchestrated the murders of people. Daisy is another infamous criminal whose trial was hugely publicized, especially given the insanity defense used. Glo Xinia is infamous in the same way - a serial criminal who gained a lot of mainstream publicity.
Ricardo was a wrestler, well known for playing a heel. He became a huge celebrity though due to press coverage of his many out-of-the-ring fights and his later murder of another wrestler at a nightclub. He was acquitted of the charges due to insufficient evidence but everyone knows he did it.
Knuckle is, of course, a rather famous boxer.
Shoko Tanaka is a well-known female mixed martial artist.
Daigo Kazumi, Kenshiro Yamaki, Gosuke Takada, Renzo Oshikiri, and Nobuhiko Kakuta are all Olympic level athletes.
Giannichi and Giannini are both famous inventors and for anyone in the robotics field, they're absolute legends.
Timoteo is a famous movie director who owns Vongola Films, a large studio. He's recently moved from directing only movies to directing what's become a hugely popular television series. Coyote Nougat is an assistant director for Timoteo. Croquant Bouche and Ganauche III are really well known producers who often work with Vongola Films and Timoteo. Visconti does all the special effects work on Timoteo's movies and now the television show. Brabanter Schnitten is the sound mixer and Brow Nie Jr. the production coordinator on all Timoteo's works, employed with Vongola Films.
Hibari's famous to a select group of people who are already in the know and famous in their own rights, as he's the head of a company who supplies the rich and famous with the best of the best in security. Notoriously publicity shy, he's never been caught on camera himself and avoids seeing any of the actual clients himself.
Tetsuya Kusakabe is one of those well-respected, oft-photographed bodyguards to the stars. Romario is as well as Dino's private bodyguard. Gamma is bodyguard to the girl group Yuni is a part of, while Olgert is bodyguard to Bel and Rasiel both and is just as paparazzi-photographed as those he looks over. Nigella Beabankul is another paparazzi famous body to the stars.
Daemon Spade and Elena are famous politicians.
Bel and Siel are infamous socialites. Part of the Royal Family of another country, their diplomatic immunity protects them against any charges that arise from their very hedonistic lifestyles and the press coverage of their fights, accidents, and the bad endings of those hedonistic lifestyles are splashed all over the tabloids. They do eventually get their own reality show.
Spanner is known for his work in special effects and puppetry, kind of along the lines of Jim Henson.
Parenza and Tras are both stunt people.
Kensuke Mochida and Brutus are celebrities within the WWE circle.
Tyr was an ECW champion who became most famous for his live death in the ring against mixed martial artist turned ECW fighter Squalo Superbi.
Michael Chianu is a tennis star, Bluebell an Olympic gold medal winning diver, while Kaoru Mizuno is a famous baseball player with one of the major teams.
'NO JUST NO' OR NO INTEREST WHATSOEVER IN BEING A CELEBRITY
I honestly don't feel that Luce is the most comfortable in front of a crowd and she doesn't like to be the center of attention. She isn't comfortable with the idea of fame and celebrity, with no desire for them. She just wants a peaceful, happy, low-key life and I honestly don't even see her as someone who has Facebook, much less any other type of social media.
Fon has no desire for fame and celebrity either. There are some YouTube clips of him, found if you Google him, of prior martial arts matches he's been part of when he did compete in martial arts tournaments. However, he's not entirely comfortable even with that level of public attention, since he prefers a quieter and simple life.
Big Pino
Lanchia
Haruyoshi Miura
Alaude
Dr. Shamal
Fuuta de la Stella was actually a child star from babyhood until he was around six or seven, when he retired and now he just wants to stay out of the spotlight and be a normal kid.
Iemitsu is a retired action star, famous for a lot of big 80's action blockbusters. He no longer has an interest in acting, in fame and celebrity in any form but he supports and starts his child's film career despite being estranged really from Tsuna.
Enma Kozato was born into a world of celebrity but prefers to just live his life and doesn't want any attention on himself.

Kuberia: The Alluring Abyss
As a deadly gamma-ray burst threatens Earth, scientists propose evacuating a chosen group to the newly discovered planet Kuberia, named after the Hindu God of wealth, Kubera. This world seems perfect for humans, but a single question remains—Why is it devoid of inhabitants?
Upon arrival, the human pioneers are struck by the planet's strange beauty. Purple and red flora blankets the landscape, some vegetation seems to have a reddish brown glow in the darkness, and everything has a captivating, twisting shape. However, they soon realize this very allure is what keeps Kuberia empty of life.
About the Author
I'm Arpan, an aerospace engineer who absolutely loves everything about space. A few years back, I got hooked on science fiction books, and that's when I decided to start writing my own stories. My sci-fi stories are a way to share my knowledge about space and the universe with the world. 'Kuberia: The Alluring Abyss' is my first attempt at turning one of my story ideas into a complete novel!

Cover Design Process:
This year. we gave designers the optional prompt to explain their design process for the cover! Here's Alberto's:
I instantly decided that I did not want to give a visual voice to Kuberia. Now knowing anything about it is part of the mystery that drew me to the summary. I focused on the physical interrelation between these planetary bodies as main actors who are sparking the narrative and reality of this particular story.

Gun Elemental
Tumblr media
Image by Nate Marcel, © Shield of Faith Studios
[Commissioned by Soluman Blevins. Twisted Menagerie Manual is one of the better monster books for post apocalyptic RPGs that I’ve read. It understands the assignment set forth by Gamma World: the post-apocalypse as a wacky anything goes romp. There are hybrid animals, gun toting furries, demon automobiles, clown priests of fast food hamburgers, etc. It’s a lot of fun, so I thank Soluman for pointing me in its direction in the first place. By the standards of the book as a whole, the elementals (data, debris and gun) are almost sedate.]
Gun Elemental CR 10 N Outsider (elemental) This creature is a three legged, asymmetrical mound made out of smooth metal. Covering it in layers are dozens of guns, all facing outward, of many shapes and sizes.
There is not an Elemental Plane of Guns. The gun elemental, therefore, is highly debated by those sages that know of its existence. Some claim that it is an interloper from another reality where firearms are an integral component of existence. Other sages instead maintain that gun elementals form in the dark corners of the Outer Planes, in the realms of gods of technology, warfare and death. Still others believe that gun elementals are an offshoot of fire or earth elementals (perhaps as a further modification of a presumed metal elemental).
Gun elementals live for combat, no matter the cause. When not fighting, they are usually engaged in target shooting, but this is still hazardous—gun elementals get so excited that they shoot wildly in all directions, catching nearby creatures with random, aimless bullets. If they face another gunslinger, they are especially dangerous. Not only is the gun elemental immune to bullets, it can steal the gun with a touch and absorb it in order to heal.
When a gun elemental is slain, its body collapses into a heap of scrap metal. Useable guns and ammunition can be salvaged from it, of a value equal to the standard treasure value of the encounter. This is a good opportunity for a GM to introduce more advanced firearms than normal to their campaign if they choose to, but could also be in the form of multiple early firearms.

It heals a number of hit points equal to the base damage dealt by the gun. Magical or attended guns can resist this with a DC 16 Fortitude save. The save DC is Charisma based. Automatic Fire (Ex) As a full round action, a gun elemental can fire its guns automatically, attacking every foe in a 150 foot line. It rolls each attack roll separately, and each attack roll suffers a -2 penalty. It cannot add precision damage or extra damage from Vital Strike or similar feats to this, but does ignore concealment and mirror image effects. Roll to confirm each critical hit separately. Combined Arms (Ex) When making a full attack action, a gun elemental can attack with its melee and ranged natural weapons. Immune to Projectiles (Su) A gun elemental takes no damage from bullets, arrows, crossbow bolts and other physical projectiles. Explosives, such as an alchemist’s bomb, or magical or technological rays, effect a gun elemental normally. Integrated Machine Guns (Ex) A gun elemental’s machine guns are integrated weapons, meaning that they are treated as natural weapons and cannot make iterative attacks. The machine gun is an advanced firearm with a range increment of 150 feet. A gun elemental’s attacks with its integrated machine guns do not provoke attacks of opportunity. The gun elemental does not have a misfire chance with these guns, and is treated as having infinite ammunition. Stray Fire Aura (Ex) As a swift action, a gun elemental can fire off bullets in every direction. All creatures in a 100 foot radius must succeed a DC 21 Reflex save or take 1d8 points of damage. The save DC is Dexterity based.
