I'm having trouble finding videos for new posts right now,so I'll do a self help post right now about self stimulation, when you're bored as an autistic and/or ADHD person, because sometimes you're in situations where you can't do certain things because they're too disruptive.
Here's some suggestions for more subtle forms of stimming/distracting yourself.
Imagine something stimulating. It could be anything,a tree swaying in the wind. A waterfallrunning. Focus on that. Think about how the breeze would feel on your skin, how the wind rushes past your ears. How the trees sway back and forth, the rustling of the leaves. How the warm sunlight bathes over your skin. That sort of thing.
Play the counting game. See how many red objects you can spot around you,or how many clocks there are around. Count them. Stuff like that.
Softly Drum your fingers on your thighs,or your arm,or tap them against your thumb.
Twirl your hair around
Wear quiet,or less noisy stimming jewelery, preferably something with a more subtle design.
Use a worry stone,or similar stimming objects
Rub your clothes between your fingers
Wiggle your fingers,or your toes
Listen to soothing music on an mp3 player
Listen to an interesting or calming sound in your environment. Focus on it
Look at the sunlight glinting off of shiny objects,or how it looks through glass or parts of a plant.
Look at fishes or other smaller animals in your environment. Watch the water move around them, how it glides gracefully off their scales. How they swish around in the water. How the bubbles look and sound, that they make. How they splash around.
Watch clocks tick, and listen to the sounds they make. Tick tock, tick tock.
Use a quieter tangle. These are a life saver.
