Garrett X British Vampire Mate Reader.
Tumblr media
"Ben!" you laughed as he puled you in for a tight hug "Bloody hell, it's been ages. How've you been?" you spoke, pulling away from his embrace as Carlisle and Esme stood a few paces behind you.
"Y'know, been inside the tomb where Amun has been trying to keep me out of sight. How about you, the last I herd you were in the Mediterranean."
"Golden sands, blue sea. Got kinda borin' after a while."
You had met Benjamin on your travels a few years before. Well, you had met Amun and had ended up befriending Benjamin whilst you were in Egypt. Essentially, you had been all over the world, but every now and then, you made your way back to Egypt to see Benjamin, Tia, Kebi and Amun, who had become like a second family to you.
Two days later, you were back home in the Cullen's house with the vampires who had come as witnesses.
You sat out on the porch, looking out over the woods and reading your 'The Hobbit' 1939 edition as a few more vampires arrived. You smelt something more beautiful, more delicious than anything ever before. Your eyes flicked up to see Garrett and your heart dropped. He hated British people. You were the only British Cullen. You had been changed by Esme, back in 1942, at the age of twenty, when your plane had crashed in a field and she found you, barely alive. That had ended you serving in the war as Y/n L/n became officially killed in action. So, Y/n Cullen was born.
"You know how bad that book is, don't you, Y/n?" you herd an all too familiar voice speak as you bookmarked the page and closed the book. It was the only possession you had of your past life before the crash, as you had no recollection of your past.
"Well, if it isn't the American who loathes all Englishmen and women." you knew about his backstory, Carlisle had warned you, just in case it would come up.
"Not all of them, dear Y/n." he said with a smirk.
"Really? Whatever changed?" you smirked back over your shoulder as you walked into the house.
'That woman will be the death of me.' Garrett thought as his eyes lingered on where you had been.
Twenty minutes later, you sat on the floor, a cushion under you, your trusty guitar in hand, your fingers idly moving across the steel strings. "I remember a time when you used to be able to play any Queen song on both the piano and guitar." Alistair spoke, making his presence known in the room where he had been lingering for the past twenty minutes. He was right. There had been a time when you two had been roommates for a while and you would constantly be playing some Queen song or another. He was the one who had introduced you to John Deacon, who went to the college you were in at the time.
"No, you can't." Emmet spoke in utmost disbelief. You cracked your fingers and neck, ready to prove the man wrong.
"Watch me, vampire boy." you muttered, knowing he herd when he let out a huff. "I expect everyone to sing, by the way." you said, looking directly at Garrett, who had been staring at you since you sat at the piano. Edward's fingers danced over the keys as you stood up, putting the guitar strap over your head and began to play Bohemian Rhapsody on the guitar.
"Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landside, No escape from reality Open your eyes, Look up to the skies and see, I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy, Because I'm easy come, easy go, Little high, little low, Any way the wind blows doesn't really matter to Me, to me
Mamaaa, Just killed a man, Put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger, Now he's dead Mamaaa, life had just begun, But now I've gone and thrown it all away Mama, oooh, Didn't mean to make you cry, If I'm not back again this time tomorrow, Carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters
Too late, my time has come, Sends shivers down my spine, body's aching all The time Goodbye, everybody, I've got to go, Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth Mama, oooh I don't want to die, I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all.
I see a little silhouetto of a man, Scaramouch, Scaramouch, will you do the Fandango!
Thunderbolts and lightning, very, very frightening me Galileo, Galileo Galileo, Galileo Galileo, Figaro - magnificoo
I'm just a poor boy nobody loves me He's just a poor boy from a poor family, Spare him his life from this monstrosity Easy come, easy go, will you let me go Bismillah! No, we will not let you go (Let him go!) Bismillah! We will not let you go (Let him go!) Bismillah! We will not let you go (Let me go) Will not let you go (Let me go)(Never) Never let you go (Let me go) (Never) let you go (Let me go) Ah No, no, no, no, no, no, no Oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia, let me go Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me, For meee
So you think you can stop me and spit in my eye So you think you can love me and leave me to die Oh, baby, can't do this to me, baby, Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here" you played the guitar solo effortlessly as you walked around, as if you were on stage.
"Nothing really matters, Anyone can see, Nothing really matters, Nothing really matters to me Any way the wind blows..." you played the last notes of the song, waiting for the piano to finish.
"Let's Live Aid this shit." you said, immediately launching into Radio Gaga. Bella seemed to be thoroughly enjoying herself, and so did the others as the song began.
"I'd sit alone and watch your light My only friend through teenage nights And everything I had to know I heard it on my radio
You gave them all those old time stars Through wars of worlds invaded by Mars You made 'em laugh, you made 'em cry You made us feel like we could fly (radio)
So don't become some background noise A backdrop for the girls and boys Who just don't know, or just don't care And just complain when you're not there
You had your time, you had the power You've yet to have your finest hour Radio (radio)
All we hear is radio ga ga Radio goo goo Radio ga ga All we hear is radio ga ga Radio blah blah Radio, what's new? Radio, someone still loves you
We watch the shows, we watch the stars On videos for hours and hours We hardly need to use our ears How music changes through the years
Let's hope you never leave, old friend Like all good things, on you we depend So stick around, 'cause we might miss you When we grow tired of all this visual
You had your time, you had the power You've yet to have your finest hour Radio (radio)
All we hear is radio ga ga Radio goo goo Radio ga ga All we hear is radio ga ga Radio goo goo Radio ga ga
All we hear is radio ga ga Radio blah blah Radio, what's new? Someone still loves you
Radio ga ga (radio ga ga) Radio ga ga (radio ga ga) Radio ga ga (radio ga ga)
You had your time, you had the power You've yet to have your finest hour Radio (radio)" the song finished as you bowed extravagantly, putting the guitar on the stand in the corner of the room.
"I think I've exhausted my abilities for one day." you said dramatically as you sat in-between Garrett and Bella, who had Renesmee on her lap, Garrett's arm going around your shoulders. If you could blush, you would be a tomato. As if she sensed this, Bella started a conversation with you.
"That was awesome. How did do do that?"
"I was a guitar tech of Queen's from '68 to '91. I was a friend of John Deacon's, after Alistair introduced me, and Brian needed a guitar tech, so, Deacs recommended me. I will never forget the day that I punched Paul Prenter in the face in May, 1987 after he made up a load of crap about Freddie and told the papers."
"You spent twenty three years with the same four humans?" Garrett spoke from beside you, somewhat surprised by this.
"Yeah, and they knew. The also accepted it as long as I didn't feed on them. I only left after Freddie died." You spoke again after a few seconds of nostalgia-filled silence "Anyway, I'm gonna go for a walk, stretch my legs. I'll see you guys later." with that, you had left the house at vamp speed.
It was true. Freddie's death had been too much for you to handle, and after a year of grieving with the three friends you had left, you decided it was best to leave, before you hurt them more than they already were. You spent years wandering the world after that, doing various jobs. You had been a blacksmith, a jeweller, even a mechanic at one point, but you never had the flare you once had with the band. Never threw yourself into your work like you had done previously.
You wandered idly through the forest for an hour before coming face to face with the person you least expected, sitting on a fallen tree before you. Garrett. You braced yourself for the snide comments at your nationality, but they never came.
"I wanted to apologise." you raised an eyebrow at this as you sat beside him, "When Carlisle told me about you, I got this, picture, shall we say, in my head about what you were going to be like, according to the past interactions I've had with British people. But, you're not that bad, for a mate."
"Not that bad?" You scoffed playfully and crossed your arms, a smirk evident on your face.
"Yeah, I mean, you could be worse. A lot worse in my experience." he laughed.
"Garrett?" he turned to face you when you spoke. Grabbing his coat collar, you continued "shut up." your lips met in a love and passion filled kiss. After all, he had spent enough time lusting after you whilst knowing that you were mates. Naturally, like you, he assumed you wouldn't be interested. You pulled away to look into his ruby orbs.
"After this is all over, I'll follow you anywhere, woman."

"Finally, I see the sun," Vince groaned, causing Leo to roll his eyes.
"It's been literally ten days, you drama queen," he said, removing his baseball cap and pushing his hair back, away from his sweaty forehead, then planting the cap back down, this time facing back.
"Ten days of captivity," Vince said, dramatically rubbing his good hand over his face, "is good to be out of jail."
"I'd like to think my food is a little better than jail's," Leo scoffed, turning around and walking backwards towards the field, "are you sure you wanna stay and watch? Doesn't sound very fun to me."
"I was going stir crazy in that apartment," Vince winced as the limping pulled on his wounded side. He was definitely dosed up on painkillers, but there was still a dull throbbing on his side that the drugs couldn't chase, made worse by all the hopping around, "even sitting and watching you guys play is better fun than watching another episode Rachel's bad romantic decisions."
Leo grinned, turning around so he could run ahead and join the remaining guys on the field and Vince took his time limping towards the bleachers. His shirt was covered in sweat by the time he sat down.
He didn't know all the players. Leo, yes, Spencer and Mikey from the team too. The other people he didn't know, it seemed they were an weird rag tag team of people's various acquaintances. By the way Leo waved to some of them, he guessed they were colleagues from the law firm.
It didn't matter, Vince was just overjoyed to be out of the fancy apartment and smelling freshly cut grass, with the sun shining down on him. He had not been made to sit around, there was too much energy running through him during all hours of the day and the worst part of this whole accident had been no longer being able to hit the gym or the field or, hell, he'd even take Wendy's hot yoga classes at this point.
"Hey!" Luke's voice startled Vince and he turned on the hot stone bleachers in order to see him. Luke jogged closer, "good to see you out of bed."
"You have no idea," Vin nodded, studying his best friend, "you good? Bella said the bug was brutal."
"Yeah, I'm fine," Luke had a huge smile on, much like Vince he hated lying about, although he looked a little paler than normal and his voice was scratchy, "wish us luck."
"Make them cry, captain" Vince teased, raising both thumbs up, his left one cradled in his chest since his arm was still resting on the sling.
Lucas tipped his baseball cap in a cowboy-esque way, "you got it, man."
They were playing baseball and Vince didn't much care for it. It was much too american for him, aside from football he had always been more fond of soccer, something he had in common with Jonah. In fact, Jon had proved to be a bit of a soccer addict, Vince had found in the past week living with him and Leo. He knew all the leagues, yelled at the TV and got sullen when his team lost. It was quite amusing to Vin that, for once, he wasn't the one with the blood pressure skyrocketing through the roof.
He leaned back lazily, barely paying attention to the game, enjoying the warmth. Now that he was sitting down for a bit, the ribs' aching had quieted down.
For the next two hours he watched his friends sprint across the field, shouting at each other, ignoring the yelling from the opposite team. Vince blamed it on the drugs and the sun scorching down, but he was feeling sleepy in no time. He cursed at it, it was such a bummer that everyone else was right and he needed to rest, when all he did was rest now.
"Time!" he heard Lucas say, voice booming. He had that characteristic about him, where he could speak loudly and be heard by everyone without looking like he was screaming.
The group dispersed and Luke jogged back to where Vince was sitting, Leo close behind him.
"Are we winning, son?" Vince teased, causing Lucas to chuckle and shove his knee.
"Didn't make 'em cry, yet, but we're winning," he said, competitiveness rolling off of him. He glanced past his shoulder and frowned, "why are you pouting?"
Vince looked away from Luke, to Leo, and raised his eyebrows. As Lucas said, the blonde had a big frown on and he was squinting at the grass. He angrily rubbed at his forehead, "I don't... I don't feel so good."
"Shit, LU-" Vince shouted, using his good hand to shove Lucas' arm, who leaped forward just in time to catch Leo as his knees gave up.
"What the fuck?!" Luke squealed, his voice breaking. He grabbed Leo by the armpits, manhandling him to sit on the edge of the bleacher's step, "Leo? Leo, c'mon, open your eyes-"
"Not fainting," Leo slurred, pushing Lucas' frantic hands away from his face, "nauseous."
Vince grimaced as he scooted closer, having to prop all his body weight on his right arm in order to lower himself to the step under his, where Leo was sitting. He grabbed Leo's shoulder and then moved his hand up to his neck and cheeks. Despite the fact his cheeks were blazing red and his hair still damp with sweat, his cheeks were dry and his skin felt cold, "oh kid," Vince sighed, "I think you got heatstroke."
Lucas, still looking nervous, cupped Leo's face too, hunching on himself to look him in the face, "aww, why didn't you say anything?" he asked.
Vince watched as Leo's throat bobbed dangerously and he glanced at Luke, "I think you better move..."
He barely had time to say this and Leo was folding in half, vomit jetting out of his mouth and covering the grass under them. Lucas jumped out of the way just in time, but not quick enough to avoid getting the tip of his sneakers covered in orange sick.
"Shit, Leo..." Vince sighed, holding on the back of his friend's muscle shirt, "okay, get it up, you'll feel better in a bit... Luke, can you drive us back...?" Vince voice trailed off as he realized that Lucas had a hand holding Leo's shoulder, but the other one was firmly pressed to his mouth, eyes shut, face pale, "uh... Luke?"
"Sorry-" he said in a muffle manner, then let go of Leo and staggered away from them, bracing against his knees and retching.
Leo groaned, almost falling off since Luke had let go of his arm and Vince squeezed his shirt a little tighter, "don't worry about him, he's fine..." he said, while Leo coughed up another round of brown liquid, "you're fine, right?!" Vince said a little louder and Luke raised a hand, thumb up, while still gagging mercilessly.
Leo spat, then leaned back and almost fell, his head meeting Vince's wounded shoulder and causing him to bite down a scream. He breathed through the pain, as the poor man groaned and leaned his head against his bicep.
"I'm sorry... I'm sorry, I just-"
"It's okay, you can't help it," Vince said, voice strained, "we're going home, just- Here," he winced, reaching back to where he had been sitting and grabbing a water bottle, "take some sips."
"Won't stay down-" Leo groaned, taking the lukewarm bottle and then looking up as Lucas' heaved again, this time managing to bring up a pathetic amount of puke, "is he okay?"
"He's fine," Vince said, rolling his eyes, "drink your water."
Ahead of them Lucas straightened up, belching deeply into his fist and wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, walking back to them, "sorry..."
"Since when you get sympathy sick?" Vince asked, while Leo took the smallest sip of water, gagging around the bottle's finish.
"I guess I'm not feeling a hundred percent still," Lucas' cheeks turned pink and he rubbed at his chest, "I'm better now, don't worry."
"Not worried," Vince lied, while Leo let out a moan again, hugging his stomach.
"This is awful, I feel really dizzy..."
"You just need to lie down in a cool place, get some electrolytes in you," Vin rubbed his nape, then glanced at Lucas, "can you drive?"
"Yeah, of course," the brunette nodded, although Vince wasn't feeling very reassured by how milky white Lucas looked. Sadly, there was no other option.
"C'mere," Lucas said, carefully side stepping the puddle on the ground and looping an arm around Leo's waist, "lean on me."
"I'm sorry I made you sick..."
"That was on me," Luke waved him off and Vince gestured for them to go ahead, since getting himself out of the bleachers was a struggle on its own.
By the time he reached them, Leo was sitting inside Luke's car, with the a/c blasting, while Luke was leaning outside of it, an arm wrapped around his stomach.
"I'm fine," Luke said preemptively, "I should've listened to Bell," he let out a sick burp, spat on the gravel and kicked the little rocks to cover up the mess, "really, stop looking at me like that."
"I'm just worried," Vince shrugged, or tried to, only to hiss as it pulled on his shoulder and ribs, "I can call Wendy if you can't drive. She's got the day off..."
'I can drive," Luke shook his head, "I just overdid it with all the running around and the mess..." he gagged fruitlessly against his hand, "I'm good."
"Clearly," Vince agreed sarcastically, then limped to the backseat.
Leo was slumped on the passenger seat, head leaning back, taking some deep, measured breaths.
"Hey, kid," Vin reached in and squeezed his arm, "just hang in there, this is going to pass soon."
Leo nodded, but he still looked dangerously pale, lips pressed in one thin line.
The drive was uneventful, Vince glancing nervously from Leo to Lucas and wondering how their evening had downgraded so quickly. Just as they got close, Leo suddenly hiccupped, slapping a hand over his mouth as a burp slipped out and with the other one he pushed Lucas' thigh "pull over-" his voice was muffled, punctuated by another belch at the end and Luke cringed, turning on the sign and pulling to the side of the road.
At least it was an uneventful Saturday, so the street was almost empty. Leo pushed the door, but didn't even have time to get out. He stuck his head out and coughed up another stream, letting out a whimper.
"Aw, kiddo..." Vince sighed, shoving himself in the space between the driver's seat and passenger one, so he could grab the back of Leo's pants and keep him sitting down. Lucas was no help, despite the guilty expression he had on, he had pressed his forehead to the steering wheel and was gulping nervously.
"It hurts..." Leo groaned, coughing and panting, "my head hurts so much."
"I know, I'm sorry," Vince said unhelpfully, rubbing his back, "get it up, Leo..."
He heard another pitiful whine and then more hurling, followed by a sigh, "I think... I think I'm done."
Or empty, Vince thought, keeping his hand on Leo's back. He glanced at Lucas and cringed. His friend's face was firmly in the gray territory, jaw clenched.
"Take a deep breath, I bet the carsickness isn't helping your situation," Vince said, squeezing Leo's bicep and fighting the anxiety inside of him. He hated not being able to help. He should be the one driving.
"I'm good," Leo slammed the door shut, "I just wanna get home."
"Just a couple minutes," Luke mumbled, his voice all thick and weird, "sorry, I-"
"It's okay, Luke," Leo said tiredly, "Jon gets sympathy sick too, I get it..." he rubbed at his forehead, "just drive, please?"
Once they finally arrived, without another incident, Vince almost groaned as he realized now there was twice as much walking around to be done. He sucked it up, carefully stepping out of the car and offering his good arm for Leo.
"Lean on me, kid," then to Lucas, who was just stepping out of the car, "no. You're not coming in, you're going straight home. Shooo."
"How do you intent on looking after him...?" Luke frowned, despite the pained lines on his face, "Vin, I can-"
"I'm fine," Leo groaned and while Vince could feel his grip was a little too tight for someone who was fine, he knew Lucas wasn't going to be any help, "go home, Luke. I'll text you later."
"...Promise?" Lucas glanced between the two of them, torn between wanting to help and feeling too sick.
"Yeah, we're fine," Vince nodded, ignoring the throbbing on his side, "go home. C'mon, Leo..."
The blonde waved one last goodbye to Luke, then slumped against Vince. Vin could tell he was trying to be mindful not to rest his full body weight on him, but he was doing a poor job of it. He bit down a groan, wrapping his good arm around Leo's waist and resting his back against the inside of the elevator.
"Shitty day," he groaned, causing the blonde to let out a tired chuckle.
"That seems to be a pattern lately," he mumbled, face pressed to Vince's bicep, "it's not as bad as it was out there."
"Good, you just need to rest a bit," Vin reassured him, breathing deeply through his mouth as pain spread all the way up his shoulder. They all but stumbled inside the house and Leo headed straight for the couch, while Vince braced against the desk near the front door and took deep, measured breaths.
"Vin? Are you okay?"
"Yeah," he lied, wiping the sweat from his upper lip, "probably just due my meds... Sit down and turn up the A/C, I'm gonna get you some water."
He didn't dare walking all the way to the bathroom to grab a washcloth. Instead Vince filled up Leo's gym bottle with cold water and then wet a dishcloth, deciding he'd rather face Jon's judgment than to walk all that distance. He limped back to the couch and met Leo's worried gaze, "I'm fine," Vince said, handing him the bottle and sitting down too, "here, lie down."
"You don't look very fine," Leo grumbled, but he was too lethargic to do anything about it. He took a gulp of the cold water and let out a relieved sigh when he rested his head on Vin's lap and the cold dishcloth met his forehead, "this feels much better."
"Uhm," Vince smiled, moving on the couch so he could put his feet up the coffee table. His sprained left foot was killing him, "c'mere, kid."
Easy like that, all the times he had done this to his own sisters came rushing back and he found himself playing with Leo's hair, combing the blonde strands and scratching at the scalp, "you're due a haircut," Vince mumbled, eyes slipping closed as he felt Leo relax against him.
"Jon says longer is hotter," he said quietly, "I've always wanted this, you know?"
"...What?" Vince frowned, opening his eyes and glancing down. Leo seemed almost asleep, the stress taking it's toll on him, "Leo?"
"Family," Leo sighed, cuddling closer and moving the wet cloth to cover his eyes, "it's almost weird to have it."
"Oh..." Vince's heart dropped and he squeezed the blonde's shoulder, fighting a smile, "well... Get used to it, Leo. This is your life now."

Lili Reinhart - Grazia Italia Interview
Tumblr media
In the cult TV series Riverdale we met her as an always fearless heroine, often forced to confront others and with herself. But even in real life American actress Lili Reinhart, 26, has often found herself having to look within to overcome difficulties.
At 14, when she was already determined to pursue a career in acting, she was diagnosed with a form of depression. Very young, she went through anxiety attacks and various kinds of difficulties, not least that body dysmorphic disorder that leads her to see herself differently from others and to suffer from some physical characteristics that she perceives in a distorted way.
Reinhart has therefore become the champion of the battles for mental health and for the acceptance of different types of beauty. She didn't hesitate to expose herself even to a global celebrity like the queen of social networks Kim Kardashian: the actress found that losing so much weight and in a short time to get into a dress that belonged to Marilyn Monroe was not a good example for her women who have difficulty accepting their body.
At the Women in Film Gala 2022, Lili then received the Max Mara Face of the Future award, dedicated to emerging actresses. 芦My family禄, declared Maria Giulia Prezioso Maramotti, 芦has built a company that honors and celebrates women, above all in the arts. We wanted to award the prize to a young artist who embodies our values, but who is still evolving. What Lili is going in is an excellent direction to follow.
I meet Reinhart in Los Angeles, while she's curled up in the make-up artist's chair for Grazia's fashion shoot that you see in these pages. She remains seated for a long time with her legs pulled up to her chest, a position that evokes the tenderness of a little girl. But she talks to me about serious topics and does it with honesty and depth, even when it comes to revealing the most intimate aspects of her life. She became a global celebrity thanks to the character of Betty Cooper in the TV series Riverdale, which reached its seventh season.
Do vou ever think that the success of this role has somehow slowed down your career as an actress?
I am grateful to Riverdale for everything it has brought me. If I'm sitting here with her now, it's because of the success of the show. But at some point in life, it's time to move on."
Do you feel that you have something to prove to others or to yourself?
I've been acting since I was 12, l've come a long way since then, but I think I haven't yet fulfilled my potential. And this is a challenge for myself. I want the actors who inspire me to talk about me, I want to go far and deserve it. For the past seven years, I've been doing a teen show, Riverdale, with a style that isn't necessarily. what i prefer. But Riverdale it has been incredibly successful and takes up practically all my time, so it has been difficult for me to seize other opportunities
Have you had to make many job cuts?
Last spring I was offered a role that I wanted to play with all my heart, but unfortunately the dates did not reconcile with the filming of the show. It was devastating to say no.
What was she like as a child? Did you imagine that when you grew up?
| was an introvert, I lived in my own little world and I always felt a bit isolated. I think I have an old soul, with my peers I felt like a fish out of water and I didn't quite understand which was the right place for me. Just yesterday I was talking to my mother about when I enjoyed dressing up as a child. We had a box full of costumes we'd collected over the years, I even changed three times a day. I put on plays and plays for my family, I always wanted to perform. So, in the end, I moved on to the theater up to television and cinema.
Was performing a way of expressing yourself?
Some people are naturally outgoing, funny. I felt I could only be by performing. I was very insecure and acting gave me the opportunity to explore sides of my personality that I would not have known otherwise.
And i also brought out a very intimate and vulnerable side by writing a book of poems, Swimming Lessons: Poems ("Swimming lessons: poems").
Yes, it was a time in my life when I felt like I wanted to. to do something that came exclusively from me and over which I had total creative control. I was very nervous at first, because it was a bit like sharing a diary with people who were ready to judge it and judge me. As an actress I feel safe, as a writer I don't: hence the negative comments on mine. book strengthened my fears. I know that no one would have paid attention to my poems if Lili the actress hadn't signed them, but I never had the claim. to establish myself as a writer. I'm a romantic and I just wanted to share a different side of me.
Don't you think maybe you're too hard on yourself?
I internalize a lot, especially the criticisms. After all, poetry is the way I express my emotions. What I wanted to convey was not, "Look at me, I'm a writer." | wanted to tell the people who follow me that I am an absolutely normal human being: I have feelings, insecurities, I struggle and face life's challenges just like anyone else.
She has often spoken about her insecurities, especially physical ones, and is a spokesperson for the "body positivity" for the acceptance of all physicalities. Do you remember the first time dysmorphia, a disorder you suffer from, presented itself?
I have an average build and, when I began to get to know the world of fashion and clothes better, I met models with very different physiques from mine. There have been times when the clothes they offered just didn't fit me. So I said to myself: "Why don't I have a smaller physique?". When a dress designed for someone two sizes smaller than you doesn't fit, you start to think you're wrong and you have to do something to fit the clothes. But in a young woman these thoughts can hurt a lot.
I recently Today, however, she sees her photos everywhere. What does it feel? She likes herself?
I talked about this with my therapist. In fact, I feel like i live in a sort of perpetual comparison with other, more glamorous versions of myself. I started acting as a child and learned that my body is always changing. Today I accept myself more and judge myself less, however Hollywood doesn't want you to get old and puts pressure on you for it. Don't you think it's crazy that at 26 | worry about not having the same face as when I was 19? Of course I don't have it! Even the one in these photos is certainly a more beautiful version of me: I'm not like this every day. Constantly having to show a better image of ourselves can play tricks on us, because it can make us believe that our everyday version is not enough.
And how does she find a way to get everyone along these versions of itself?
I can't, they don't get along. There is my everyday self that reminds Lili of the glamor that looks like this only if she is surrounded by professionals who they make up and comb her hair. But I'm making peace with the fact that first I have to learn to be okay with each version of me. For example, I now have an acne breakout. Who sees them? Acne has always triggered severe mental and emotional distress in me. It makes me feel bad and makes it difficult for me to appear in public or take pictures without makeup because I know my skin would otherwise look different than everyone expects. Instead I should think that a rash doesn't take anything away from me, it doesn't define me. It's always me. Unfortunately it's a constant struggle: I live in a world that demands perfection and, at times, I think I've begun to demand it too. But then I think that everything happens for a reason and maybe the reason why acne always shows up on my face is because I have to learn to love every season my skin and my body go through because that's right. I'm a human being, not a mannequin.
I couldn't help but notice the tattoo on her right forearm: an arrow.
I did it around 18, 19. It represents my battle against depression: an arrow can only go forward if it is first pulled back. It's like saying that, once you hit rock bottom, you can only go back up.
In which direction is it pointing then?
Forward, always. My mental health has its ups and downs and this arrow reminds me that I always manage to get out of it, because I'm a tireless fighter.
But, during this fight, I hope she takes moments to appreciate what she has achieved.
I appreciate my battles, it is thanks to them that I am such a strong person. I wouldn't change anything about me. Having had the experience of depression leads me to experience moments of joy more intensely and makes me establish healthier and deeper relationships. The moments of discouragement have taught me so much about myself and it is right that I experience them and face them when they arise, rather than trying to escape.
She was cast as the Max Mara Face of the Future. How does this recognition make you feel?
It's a complicated feeling to explain. It's hard for me to accept that people see me this way. I almost feel like I have imposter syndrome, because I don't think I've shown my worth as an actress yet. I have exposed myself as an activist for body positivity and mental health, but in my work I think I haven't given my best yet. I'm waiting for that opportunity, which is on the horizon, but l'm waiting. So to receive the award before I've even been able to demonstrate what I think I can do as an actress is very encouraging. And I'm grateful because this recognition makes me understand that l'm already doing something good.

The Gilded Age's Broadway Divas: Caroline "Lina" Schermerhorn Astor (Donna Murphy)
A queen among her people, Mrs. Astor rules over New York high society, and spends the show being challenged by New Money Bertha Russell at every turn.
Tumblr media
Two-time Tony winner Donna Murphy is one of Broadway's greatest Divas. Though most recognize her as the voice of Disney's Mother Gothel in Rapunzel, her voice is better known to me personally as one of my earliest gay awakenings for her audiobook performance of Ruby Holler, but that's a separate story. One of Sondheim's most beloved interpreters, Donna has such an expansive repertoire that limiting myself proved damn near impossible. Her Tonys for Best Actress in a Musical were in 1994 (Passion) and 1996 (The King and I) and I will forgive her for the later despite my documented hatred of that musical.
Other sumptuous performances include: The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Ensemble, later Drood), Wonderful Town (Ruth), Hello Dolly! (Bette Midler's Tuesday night alternative and superior performer in every way), and Encores! Dear World (my #1 theatre experience of 2023). With the later two, Donna is well on her way to achieving the Jerry Herman trifecta. Someone mount a production of Mame starring Donna Murphy as Mame.
#1: "Could I Leave You?" Follies - The Stephen Sondheim 80th Birthday Concert (2010)
youtube
Many a Diva has taken on this song, but no one can come close to the rapturous performance Donna Murphy gives during the iconic Ladies in Red segment of the Sondheim 80th birthday concert. This video right here is the reason I am the Sondheim woman that I am. There have been many women who have played Phyllis over the years, and I've fallen a little in love with all of them (Jan Maxwell, my beloved), but Donna is everything.
Surrounded by five other iconic Divas dressed in red, Donna shows that her acting choices whilst singing remain unmatched. The controlled start, the rapid devolution, the rage in that final word. And the strands of hair that will not stay out of her face. I am obsessed. The reactions of the other women (note Patti LuPone's glee and Marin Mazzie, dear friend and Passion co-star's bursting pride) say it all. The entire concert is one marvel after another. Do yourself a favor and watch it.
I consider this song one of Sondheim's greatest works (Send in the Clowns, eat your heart out...but also...Donna did that at the 90th birthday concert, so there's that too).
#2: "Hit Me With a Hot Note," a benefit for Fran Liebergall (2015) and What About Joan (2001)
youtube
youtube
I couldn't decide which version to post, so you get both. Congratulations. This song showcases Mrs. Astor's wild side as Donna delves into growls, shimmies, shakes, and belts. "Hit Me with a Hot Note" is a Duke Ellington song that appeared on Broadway in Jelly's Last Jam (which will receive an Encores! production this spring). I never thought a white woman could scat, but I'm not mad about it.
The first video is a concert benefit for Fran Liebergall in 2015. The second is from a short-lived tv series in the early 2000s where Donna plays Ruby Stern, a smart and staid doctor who has a dream of appearing on Broadway. Apparently, the producers of the show were totally unaware that two-time Tony winner for Leading Actress in a Musical Donna Murphy could sing. I'm just as shocked by that as you are.
#3: "Surabaya Johnny," LoveMusik (2007)
youtube
Mrs. Astor is one of many real-life historical figures on Donna Murphy's acting resume. Another real-life figure is that of Lotte Lenya, an Austrian-American actress and singer best known for her work/marriage with Kurt Weill. LoveMusik explores that relationship. Lotte Lenya had a distinctive voice, and here Donna transforms her own signature voice to match Lenya's.
LoveMusik received mixed reviews, but garnered four Tony nominations for Best Musical, and Best Leading Actors for Donna and for leading man Michael Cerveris, The Gilded Age's Mr. Watson.
Donna has truly perfected the way to break down during a song.
#4: "The Story of Lucy and Jessie," Follies (2007)
youtube
Prior to the Sondheim 80th, Donna played Phyllis Rogers Stone in the 2007 Encores! production of Follies (alongside Christine Baranski). This was considered her triumphant return to the New York stage following an unsteady attendance record in the early 2000s owing to a long battle with vocal hemorrhaging (running concurrently with multiple miscarriages). Her turn as the jaded former Follies girl was nothing short of sublime. In those days, Encores! concerts weren't remotely the fully choreographed shows they are now. Donna, who describes herself as a "singer who moves well," proves that in spades.
To my everlasting devastation, this clip omits the opening verse, but I think her legs more than make up for it. The little glove removal moment is a nod to an alternate number that has been used in place of this one depending on the production. For singers who are not as dance-capable, "Ah, But Underneath" offers up a sensational strip tease, and I, for one, would have liked to see that too, even if Lucy and Jessie is a better number.
#5: "Loving You," Passion (1994)
youtube
Though her riveting portrayal of a chronical ill woman who seduces a soldier in mid-19th century Italy earned Donna her first Tony, it was not a well-received show. Audiences disgusted by the obsessive and unattractive Fosca would cheer when she collapsed onstage every night. They couldn't fathom how Giorgio (Jere Shea) would leave his affair with the beautiful Clara (Marin Mazzie, who appears totally nude for the opening number) for a sicky woman like Fosca. Since then, like most Sondheim shows, we have come to appreciate the brilliance of the story, the score, and the actors with time.
Donna's immersion into this role is the stuff of Broadway legend. This song in particular, though simple in melody and lyrics, carries such deep emotion, and the way she sings as if every note pains her just ruins me. Her dramatic range cannot be praised enough. The entire proshot can be found HERE, and I cannot recommend it enough.
Story time: a few years ago I bid on the original lobby board that hung inside the theater, and I am now a proud owner of a piece of history. It stands in my living room and is nearly as tall as I am. It is my most treasured possession.
Bonus: For a more comprehensive of all things Donna Murphy, please enjoy this playlist curated by @princesspufferr. And if anyone wants a bootleg of Dear World, I've got you covered.

Ok I know it's a little bit late but turns out my big Okoye rant just has to be written down or it will keep bothering me. So here we go. Screaming into the void.
The thing is I like Okoye and I think she had nice thing going on in Wakanda Forever. That is up until the point that her plot threads were axed midway and rest of it was given to Nakia of all people? Which sucks for both of them. So in this essay....
The first Black Panther movie build her up nicely as Lawful Neutral character. Which is rare and for me makes really interesting character. She dutifully followed the law when Killmonger took the throne and then just as dutifully was about to kill her husband when it was revealed the throne taking wasn't so lawful after all. Both of those choices were incredibly emotionally hard for her and actually quite rare storytelling wise. Which I loved. What is even better: on top of all that she wasn't punished by the narrative for being lawful instead of going after her heart.
Great! I really, really loved it. Especially when in the new movie they started to nicely build up on that to give her own little plot and character growth.
Well. Up to a point.
But lets focus on what they were clearly building up to.
Okoye loves Wakanda. It's her character virtue since she is Lawful Neutral. But at the same time loving it too much and too blindly is her character flaw.
Wakanda is the best and thus doesn't need to change.
First we saw it in Infinity War with a little side joke about opening Wakanda to the world meant maybe Starbucks and not, well... war.
In Wakanda Forever in one of the first scenes she tells Aneka to give back the daggers since spears are traditional weapon. Which, by virtue of being traditional, are better and it's not going to change on her watch.
For that, the obvious plot resolution would be that Okoye needs to open up to new things (particularly technology). Unfortunately, the thing is, they sort of did that in the movie but in the worst way possible (and I don't just mean that Midnight Angel armor is ugly, you are right sister. It's ugly af) but I'm getting ahead of myself.
Wakanda is the best and thus I'm the best.
Okoye is a bit full of herself, or to be more precise thinks others are not as good since they are not Wakandan. She assumes she can deal with Americans and duh, she is right. She can actually deal with them like nbd. So does it really count as being blinded by her own/ Wakandan awesomeness?
Yes. Yes it does. I love that she is confident in her skills and she has all the right to be but she also knew there is new unknown threat. It was overconfidence on her part to think she can deal with Talokans too.
And she got her ass handled to her in fair fight.
And she broke her promise to queen Ramonda and lost Shuri.
Consequences as plot resolution? It's more likely than you think.
Because yeah. That's where clearly her further plot was axed and given to Nakia (which could be whole other big rant but just so you know: she was done dirty here too). Because let's be real it would fit perfectly.
Classic plot. Hero gets overconfident. Fucks up. As consequence hero loses their privileges/status/whatever. So they go on a quest not to regain their privileges or prove themselves but to right their wrongs.
Often they initially want to prove themselves, but then they learn they need to fix their mistakes because it's a right thing to do. Just after that the narrative can reward them with actually-you-just-have-proven-yourself-plot-twist - here are your privileges back and then some.
In Okoye's sake we can even cut on the second part of that plot. She just goes on a quest to right her wrongs and to save the princess.
Rewrite of a rewritten plot?
So her first overall wrong was dismissal of new technology. Could be righted easily by going to Griot to ask it to help her locate Shuri. It's even still in the movie but instead it's Ramonda who talks with Griot. It shows Griot can locate Shuri, they just added little scene with Nakia doing spy stuff and talking to people because it's her forte.
It would even fit the underwater cave rescue scene better. Because the forceful solution of going in guns blazing would fit more Okoye's desperation. Nakia is a spy. She would be more level headed and just sneak in and out unnoticed. Moreover, since she is more caring people person she wouldn't just leave that one girl to die.
But hey. If they didn't do that they wouldn't have the excuse for war and to have whole second part of the movie and "big" action scene at the end. Which is sadly mandatory in Marvel movies.
But going back to Okoye before I get sidetracked too much.
Just a rewrite... please.
With that the last plot thread for her to resolve would be redo of the fight with Attuma.
And it could and SHOULD follow the classic plot of like Rocky and countless others:
Hero loses a fight
Hero trains some more/ learns new things
Hero wins second fight fair and square
but nooooooo
Instead of mixing it with with opening to new technologies plot - as in asking Griot to help her find weak spots of Talokans. Or even just upgrading her spear to be better in fight with another vibranium spear if you really need to go this way (and clearly don't have time for training montage in this bloated movie)...
nope. Instead we go sorry Okoye you are just too weak. Here, have an armor. Which ok ties to the same new technologies plot thread but at the same time is so damn insulting to Okoye and her skills.
Like really fucking insulting.
It's like going to Cap or Black Widow and saying you are cool with all the fancy kicks and all but lets be real here. You are to week to fight real super powered villains - here have an armor.
Would anyone do that? No. Because it's insulting and goes against what those characters are at their core. Even if they are "too weak" they still would win by their skill, their smarts, their cunning nature or just by their sheer stubbornness.
Because those are their cove virtues.
Because that's how storytelling works.
And just FYI I'm not shitting on characters actually using armors. Oh no. Tony or Riri would win by learning and then building smarter armor. Rhodey would win because he is a solider and for him the armor is just tool of the trade - it's just a tank he happens to wear. But for Okoye or Cap or Natasha or any other hand to hand badass fighter it would go against the very idea their character was built on. It would be plot breaking Deus Ex Machina solution. Everyone would be bitching that writers written themselves into a corner and found very unsatisfying plot resolution that doesn't work.
But since Okoye is a side character and this movie has way too much going on in general, it's just left as it is.
And I'm very salty about that.

I Can't Stay Silent Anymore
My American wife, her parents and extended family (for months now) have kept asking me when I'm going to give my two cents on #PrinceHarry, and in the beginning I was defending him. But I just can't stay silent anymore.
Want to leave the RF for a normal life? By all means, go ahead.
But the interviews, documentaries, book... HOW can you not see that the media is exploiting him for all he's worth. American's have very little knowledge, other than what they see on TV, of what and who Harry is.
As a Brit, I'd wake up and read the newspaper and see paparazzi photos splashed across the front page of Harry stumbling out of nightclubs drunk. Do I have an immense guilt for him? Of fucking course I do. He was never given the proper chance to grieve the death of his mother. Then quick as anything, Charles moved Camilla in and the turmoil that must've created is unimaginable. Having to put on a brave face for the crowds of adoring "fans".
He should have been protected more. He should have had better security when he was not on palace grounds. He should have been able to grieve the death of Diana without the weight of the world on his shoulders. Take titles away for a second, this was a young boy who lost his mother in a horrific accident. He had to walk behind her hearse in a public procession, whilst hundreds of thousands of strangers lined the streets - and millions more around the world - cried and sobbed for someone they didn't know. His Mum.
Am I making excuses for him? Absolutely fucking not.
But do I understand his pain? How could you not?!
But do NOT think for even a second that Diana would be proud of how he's behaved since then. Publicly shaming his own Brother, the only person he's had since birth who he had completely on his side.
All she ever wanted was for them both to have as much of a normal life as possible. Granted, William wouldn't have much of a "normal" one due to him being directly in line to the throne.. but Harry.. he of all people should know how the institution works. Is it brutal? Absolutely. Are there things that need changing? Obviously. But for fuck sake, Henry. You should prove your point and your do your mother proud by being the bigger person and rising above this bullshit!
Don't buy into the media circus that was the demise of Diana!
Queen Elizabeth II - god rest her soul - knew that if you give the public an inch, they'll take a mile.. and this book? Is so damaging. Unbelievably humiliating. For you.
I understand the need to support your family and provide for them, but Jesus Christ. He's seriously gone about this all wrong and I'm honestly devastated for him, I truly am.
Despite everything, I'm probably one of very few these days who still genuinely want the best for him and I sincerely hope that he's able to start healing soon.

"it is IMPERATIVE that you listen to weird niche music of some kind." And what weird niche music do you listen to hmmmmmmm
Oh, you got my ass!
To be upfront, I mostly listen to... the poppiest, most accessible versions of Weird Niche Music and I have been open about that! So, I might be posting more friendly songs from more experimental artists. Or I might be posting Really Popular Artists from more niche spheres--like "The Silver Cord" by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizards, which lots of people know of by now but the average person might not.
And I'm also rly open about also just... very sincerely loving vapid, formulaic pop music as well. So! Enjoy those caveats, enjoy this list
"Juxtaposition" Silica Gel is the middle point between cerebral and abrasive Korean rock. They just released an album, check out the entire thing.
"Dancing When You're Dead" STAP Sigh Boys. Kinda funky, weird vocals, but also just a nice, retro sound with modern trappings.
"American Psycho" .grouptherapy. Alternative hip hop with guitar on this track but they're great at tackling and morphing many genres (see their collab track "Disco Pantz" vs "FUNKFEST" vs "Thatsmycheck")
"Aladdin" Wednesday Campanella. I suppose if you've been into Japanese EDM, even via anime and video games, this sound isn't that niche but it's still fun. Found via my dashboard.
"The Mad Stone" Everything Everything. Their entire discography, actually but this song is the most... out there in recent times. Starts off with a twee, folksy sound that actually kinda pisses me off btu then really pushes boundaries and transforms into something new.
"Captain" redveil. The entire EP this is from is a lightly experimental landscape. He was featured on a JPEGMAFIA track if that clarifies the playground he's in.
"Calla" Rubio. Actually, a kinda convention sound in that it fits the kinda slow, sweeping synth sound that you'd associate with a time past. I just wanted to highlight Rubio because he's Chilean and it's more difficult to find info on him (in American) than it should be!
Or like, I could recommend "Mephisto" by Queen Bee, which is Japanese Rock, but has near operatic elements but... was an ED for an extremely popular anime.
But that invokes a question, doesn't it? What is NICHE and weird music? I feel like the more you explore and open up your mind to music that isn't just fed to you via Tiktok or Similar Interest Algorithms (where you're confined to 1.5 genres), the harder it is to confidently say your music is niche.
Is something niche if it's popular in a different country/culture than you? Is it just niche if your friends don't know their name but their sound is the same as/nearly adjacent to what's on the radio? Is it still niche if, yes, it's part of a more narrow subculture BUT it's like... baby's first artist in said subculture/subgenre?
Like... before Kpop got bigger in the west, if someone told me Shinee was niche, I'd still be like ??? SHINEE?? But to someone who has never ventured into kpop or even "foreign" music before, yeah, I could see the argument.
I listen to "Sezon Pomidorowy" by Franek Warzywa & M艂ody Budda and hte sound is definitely weird (Polish musicians bringing an almost hyperpop sensibility to a song structure that is a lot more... acoustic than that?) but I found them via a big music critic and I think they have had big songs on tiktok. (I would not know but google mentioned something about tiktok, so idk.)
The point about encouraging people to listen to more niche music isn't necessarily to have people prove Their Music is Truly Weird (I don't think any of the music on this list is that weird) but more to encourage people to try out music outside of what is fed directly to them.
In part, because I think people have a looot of music that they would LOVE but just do not naturally encounter via following trends, and it would benefit both them and the musicians if they discovered said music.
But, on a selfish note, also because I think it makes it harder for people to hype up truly rote music as Revolutionary because, well, you'll encounter more experimental music that has Already Done the Thing.
I've said before, there is no bad taste in music (outside of VERY rare exceptions) but there is underdeveloped taste in music. And I think not exploring different sounds, musicians, genres, national outputs means not being equipped to truly judge music.
So like I could list dozens of songs I don't think any of my followers would know by musicians they've never even heard of but that kinda... misses the point.
That post isn't a DPS Check for Rare Music but rather a place to say... hey, have you tried new music recently? Clicked a music rec from a mutual that sounds almost scary to you? Have you been scared off a song because it's not in a language you speak? Listen anyways. Does a genre sound startling? Try a song in it anyways.
Maybe you don't like it. That's fine! But you fucking tried it!!! And that counts for something.

JJK Playlists: Geto | Toji | Gojo
Tumblr media
It's Me, I'm the Problem (Geto Suguru Playlist)
Playlist for Geto. Gotta admit, he gets the gears in my brain running. Main themes are about Geto's descent, follows life as a genocidal cult leader, to the end of his life. Manga SPOILERS ahead.
-> [Spotify Link]
1. Paradiso - Pia-no-jac An instrumental chosen by Akutami Gege. Unfortunately, not available on Spotify.
2. Enemy (feat. JID) - Imagine Dragons
Tell you, you're the greatest But once you turn, they hate us (ha)
3. The Wall - PatrickReza When Geto starts questioning his life and philosophy.
Banging my head against the wall Nothing makes sense, no sense at all Nothing can numb me from what I've seen Pull me down, demons, yeah, try me
4. Cradles - Sub Urban Lots of imagery about eating and disassociation.
I love everything Fire's spreading all around my room My world's so bright It's hard to breathe, but that's alright Hush! Shh Tape my eyes open to force reality (oh, no, no) Why can't you just let me eat my weight in glee? I live inside my own world of make-believe Kids screaming in their cradles, profanities Somedays, I feel skinnier than all the other days Sometimes, I can't tell if my body belongs to me
5. Savages - MARINA Covers how the lowly non-sorcerers are monkey--I mean, savages.
One man can build a bomb, another run a race To save somebody's life and have it blow up in his face I'm not the only one who finds it hard to understand I'm not afraid of God, I am afraid of man
///
Underneath it all, we're just savages Hidden behind shirts, ties and marriages How could we expect anything at all? We're just animals still learning how to crawl
6. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen If there's any JJK character who suits Bohemian Rhapsody, it's Geto. The line about being a poor boy made me think of how he's from a non-sorcerer family.
Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy Because I'm easy come, easy go, little high, little low Any way the wind blows doesn't really matter to me, to me Mama, just killed a man Put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger, now he's dead Mama, life had just begun But now I've gone and thrown it all away Mama, ooh, didn't mean to make you cry If I'm not back again this time tomorrow Carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters
7. Wait For It - Hamilton: An American Musical The lines "Death doesn't discriminate between the sinners and the saints" popped into my head after watching s2e4. But when I went back to listen to it to add to this playlist I was blown away by how Burr's (Geto's) thoughts about Hamilton (Gojo) were so suitable. Also, it wasn't always intentional but there's so much religious imagery (and a few mentions of parents...) in this playlist that I'm loving.
Death doesn't discriminate Between the sinners and the saints, it takes and it takes and it takes and we keep living anyway. We rise and we fall and we break and we make our mistakes. And if there's a reason I'm still alive when everyone who loves me has died I'm willing to wait for it. I'm willing to wait for it.
///
I am the one thing in life I can control I am inimitable I am an original I'm not falling behind or running late I'm not standing still, I am lying in wait Hamilton faces an endless uphill climb He has something to prove He has nothing to lose Hamilton's pace is relentless he wastes no time What is it like in his shoes? Hamilton doesn't hesitate. He exhibits no restraint. He takes and he takes and he takes and he keeps winning anyway. He changes the game. He plays and he raises the stakes. And if there's a reason he seems to thrive when so few survive, then God dammit I'm willing to wait for it. I'm willing to wait for it.
8. Time of my Life - UPSAHL As Nanami would later say, being a jujutsushi is shit. No wonder Nanami's response was he doesn't blame Geto. Geto suffered from compassion fatigue; he was all burnt up.
I cleaned my room I paid my dues I did all of the things that they all told me to I filled my head With common sense I did all of the things that everybody said So how come all the worst days Are in the time of my life
9. Burning Pile - Mother Mother The turning point. Geto changes his aim.
It goes, all my troubles on a burning pile All lit up and I start to smile If I catch fire then I change my aim Throw my troubles at the pearly gates
10. Bang - AJR Geto certainly left legitimate jujutsu society behind with a bang.
So put your best face on everybody Pretend you know this song Everybody come hang (come hang) Let's go out with a bang Bang! Bang! Bang! I'm way too young to lie here forever I'm way too old to try so whatever come hang (come hang) Let's go out with a bang Bang! Bang! Bang!
11. The Other Side of Paradise - Glass Animals Reflecting on how Gojo (his strength) just went to a place Geto could no longer reach. So, Geto leaves too.
Bye-bye, baby blue I wish you could see the wicked truth Caught up in a rush, it's killing you Screaming at the sun you blow into Curled up in a grip when we were us Fingers in a fist like you might run I settle for a ghost I never knew Super paradise I held on to But I settle for a ghost
///
My thunder shook him down My thunder came and shook him down
12. Come Back Home - Two Door Cinema Club I usually prefer sandwiching my playlists with Akutami's music choices, but in this case it felt like it made more sense narratively to place this here. Lol. Sounds like a heartfelt plea from Gojo telling Geto to come back home honestly.
So now you're on your own Won't you come back home? To see you're not that kind And find the strength To find the strength, to find another way
13. East Jesus Nowhere - Green Day Yeah! Classic Green Day, this song popped into my head while thinking about Geto. Geto embraces his religious persona.
A fire burns today Of blasphemy and genocide The sirens of decay Will infiltrate the faith fanatics Oh, bless me Lord for I have sinned It's been a lifetime since I last confessed I threw my crutches in the river of a shadow of doubt And I'll be dressed up in my Sunday best Say a prayer for the family Drop a coin for humanity Ain't this uniform so flattering? I never asked you a goddamn thing
14. cult leader - KiNG MALA
I might be the villain in somebody else's story, but that's fine My methods are controversial, but at least it keeps 'em all in line In line I don't need your roses, I like men on their knees Praying up to their god, seein' visions of me I'm a cult leader, mind reader, heart eater Fear feeder, say I'm your favorite preacher If I wasn't a narcissist, I wouldn't like me either
15. Mental Funeral - EHLE From those devotees.
You're a criminal cute and creepy Dangerous for me When you're all alone, love me, dearly Psychopath
16. Godly Behaviour - ELIO "Monkeys have their roles. Money collecting monkeys and curse collecting monkeys."
Nothing comes for free, there's a fee for my time I'm so heavenly, hard to reach, gotta climb, 'cause I got godly behaviour And I'm not doing any favours I'll be in your dreams tonight, but I'm not an angel 'Cause it's confirmed, I got godly behaviour
17. Do It All The Time - IDKHOW He seemed pretty nonchalant about the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons.
We're taking over the world A little victim-less crime And when I'm taking your innocence I'll be corrupting your mind
///
Now we're so young But we're probably gonna die And it's so fun We're so good at selling lies We look so good And we never even try I don't wanna do it, but I do it 'Cause I do it all the time
18. Freak (feat. REI AMI) by Sub Urban Geto's family of curse users.
Welcome to our freak show, come meet my monsters Oh, such a fine collection of stranger things
19. Family - Mother Mother More found family music. Affectionate.
They is my family, they is my family They might be crazy, but they is my family You can't get to them unless you get through me You fuck with them, you fuck with me
20. cutlery collector - Sion POV: Geto when Kenjaku takes over his body.
Cutting me open and switching my insides Make me an avatar girl, just let me die And they all say that I have changed But oh, nobody knew why 'Cause you're a cutlery collector You cut open my mind
21. House of Memories - Panic! At the Disco Lots of melancholic death songs.
Baby, we built this house On memories Take my picture now Shake it 'til you see it And when your fantasies Become your legacy Promise me a place In your house of memories
22. Goodbye - Bo Burnham
So long, goodbye I'll see you when I see you You can pick the street I'll meet you on the other side

so apparently having a new lupin thing i am distinctly enjoying (lupin zero) is what it took to get me around to watching the lupin thing i had not seen yet that i really hadn't heard anything positive about (part 6, not counting "the times" which i have already seen and loved the hell out of, but have not managed to watch since july because... you know)
thoughts so far, as of finishing episode 7 (i'm watching the subs then the dub for each episode, which helps me follow details better but definitely takes longer):
* wow. so you know how i like to say about part 5 that, love it or hate it, that is a piece of media that knew exactly what it wanted to do and went for it? this is the opposite. the only episode so far that seemed to have an actual goal in mind is the one where the goal was "i am going to retell an ernest hemingway story, and also insert into the dialogue the titles of every other hemingway story in the same collection", which sure did do what it set out to do, but was it a thing worth setting out to do?
...well, given that i am told the guest writers for each non-main-plot episode in the first half were all instructed "you must base your episode on a specific piece of crime fiction", i have to admit that playing the world's most pretentious version of the game where you try to write a paragraph without any E's in it was... probably the most Mamoru Oshii possible way of complying with a stupid requirement, and definitely hewed closer to the spirit of the rule than the one where NPCs with names relevant to Ellery Queen did fuck-all of importance.
episode by episode:
* "enter sherlock holmes". in which sherlock holmes looks a great deal like somebody tried to make a 2D version of first!jigen and failed to grasp why first!jigen is sexy. also in the english version all the brits are dubbed by american-sounding americans, which is the most auditorily disorienting version of sherlock holmes i have heard (although i must admit i never did get around to watching the veggietales version, but if there's one thing the veggietales guys have demonstrated their commitment to doing from day one, it's accents... and now I'm humming "oh no, what we gonna do")
where the fuck was i? right. so albert gets worfed to demonstrate that holmes is a badass. why on earth albert would be doing spy work personally in a country where he *doesn't* have millions i've strings to pull, i have no fucking idea. also him going straight to "shoot myself in the head with my last bullet" as an exit strategy compares really badly to the bit in part 5 which... either it was supposed to mirror this, or somebody just failed to do their research, but that moment near the end of part 5 where jigen's on the run alone, down to his last bullet, there are multiple guys about to come around the corner and capture or kill him, and then albert rescues him.
and yeah, that's a moment where you have to wonder if it crossed jigen's mind to use his last bullet for himself instead of going down fighting a hopeless fight, but jigen has never been someone who -- i can't recall a single moment in 53 years that we've seen him actively ready to die. he does plenty of self-destructive shit, but even when a fight can't logically be won, he keeps fighting, even if all he can do is run his mouth. having albert jump straight to suicide in a scene that *has* to be a callback... it doesn't feel right thematically and it doesn't speak to a great understanding of albert as a character (such as he's been so far).
oh yeah, also there was the intial setup for the antagonist secret society "the raven", whose mysterious hooded executioner blew up a guy in protective custody in scotland yard. they weren't terribly impressive. even though i haven't actually seen twcfm, only read spoilers, i feel like a creepy bird-themed secret society is maybe something you're not gonna beat that show on using well?
* "detective and crook". in which jigen and goemon also get worfed to further prove that holmes is a badass. jeez, guys, just give him purple eyes and lavender hair already, huh? lupin also continues his mary-poppins-esque habit of never explaining anything. we do get jigen riding on the back of fujiko's motorcycle, which is a rarity (and keeping his hands where they belong, as opposed to Lupin). fujiko sticks a scroll of paper down her cleavage a la first contact, so that the camera can zoom in on it for maximum jiggle physics opportunity. and lupin blows up a whole-ass demolition site full of cops including zenigata and yata -- none of whom get hurt, but *wow*, that's a life choice.
* "adventure along the (replica) transcontinental railroad". in which lupin wears the biggest turban you ever saw, npcs with ellery queen names do nothing much, fujiko gets whole-ass tied to railroad tracks dudley do-right style and nearly beheaded, jigen and goemon ride a bicycle built for two and also pretend to be cosplaying as themselves in order to throw zenigata off the scent (in the dub, goemon suggests that zenigata page lupin to the front desk like a lost child, which is delightfully goemon), and jigen gets to do some fancy trick shooting that i still don't understand after seeing it twice in order to flip a railway switch and send the runaway train onto a siding. he shot a streetlight and something flew out and somehow that made the switch do the thing?
* "the killers in the diner". in which mamoru oshii plays silly buggers with hemingway titles, lupin and jigen in disguise are voiced by other actors until they're revealed (which has barely ever happened... in the english dub at least, i can think of *one* time a disguised lupin was voiced by lex lang for a scene, that's it), fujiko appears to be disguised as an extremely depressed pippi longstocking for reasons that are never explained, and a bunch of japanese people get to take a fairly reasonable stab at pronouncing "dulles". also it's established that fujiko is bad at cooking, which i think might have been fanon previously but i can't think of anywhere else it was actually established.
* "the imperial city dreams of thieves". a two-parter in which lupin gets dropped into a world based on the works of japanese mystery author edogawa ranpo (this was a pen name based on the name "edgar allan poe"). it's pretty solidly paced for the most part, which is not something you can really count on part 6 for so far, but it's also... well.
so. it's a story set in the late 1920s, about a giant mysterious golden clock/orrery from mongolia, guarded by the heirs of genghis khan, one of whom decides that entrusting it to a young female japanese "explorer" (visually coded very much like the white egyptologists of the era, similarly dedicated to bringing back other cultures' precious artifacts for display, and treated as an unquestionably virtuous character) is obviously the wise and correct choice to keep it out of harm's way -- the youthful guardian of the device accompanying the explorer back to japan as a bodyguard and servant, as well as continuing to guard the clock.
the japanese imperial army, who (the episode does not explain) are most of the reason there's all this war and unrest on the mainland that make the clock's guardian decide it's better off in civilized japan (okay the episode *all but* says the civilized part out loud)... where was i? right. the japanese imperial army, who are busy conquering mainland countries in the whole pan-asian empire thing they did in the run-up to world war ii (christ, it's been forever since i studied that part of history... if i recall, their selling point was "asia for the asiatics", as in they wanted white people out, but in practice they wanted to rule all of asia themselves, so it was more like "asia for the japanese empire") -- the japanese imperial army want the clock in order to give it to a puppet dictator they'll install in mongolia. our young explorer, who is the daughter of a powerful... department store conglomerate?... look, i'm sure it packs some kind of an emotional punch in japanese, but now i'm just cracking myself up imagining the heiress of like woolworth's or sears roebuck facing off against the fbi.
anyway. as i was saying. our young heroine declines to give away the clock, as having it on display at her family's department store is clearly the best place for the cultural artifact that determines rulership of mongolia. (i'm being sarcastic. the episode isn't.) kidnapping and shenanigans ensue.
also, as you would expect from an alternate universe story, there are characters who look exactly like the lupin crew. lupin is put into the role of "golden mask", a phantom thief edogawa ranpo created based on that most popular of phantom thieves, ars猫ne lupin (the first). fujiko becomes "black lizard", a femme fatale originally working with the villain and face of the japanese army -- i think the villain's name is daidouji, but i think leia also picked that out for one of jigen's aliases in one of our stories, so either she has something she could explain to me or that's a very confusing coincidence.
goemon, it will turn out, is also his real-world self along with lupin -- i'll get there in a minute. zenigata is a fictional (secondary-fictional) police inspector with a slightly different name and an almost identical hat. and jigen... jigen is one of the factors that make this episode what you might call, on the internet, Problematic.
so. the villain is a very large japanese army guy named colonel daidouji. his ever-present shadow and sidekick is a very, very familiar-looking major whose name is not initially given, and who very nearly manages to put a bullet in lupin on first meeting him.
now, jigen's au version being evil, y'know, it's a hard sell, it's not impossible that i'd buy it if it was done right, but the thing is that you never have to buy it. tv shows have this need to make au versions of the heroes always still have some kind of heroic core. the really steep issue comes with what kind of a hero he turns out to be.
the character who looks like jigen is eventually revealed to be a character named major yoshiaki hongo from the works of a writer named minetaro yamanaka (whose first google result for me is, uh, the wikipedia article on antisemitism in japan, that's... probably not irrelevant to my point here?). major hongo, at least as described in the episode, is a badass soldier who goes undercover to root out corruption, which is all very well and good... except for the part where his little speech about who he is and what he's doing here, in both languages, leads with "fighting for the liberation of asia". aka, as we discussed, conquering it for the japanese empire.
which, together with the whole misappropriating cultural treasures with the enthusiastic cooperation and servitude of their native owners arc... really, really makes one wonder about many choices that were made.
(oh yeah, it turns out the whole thing is a virtual reality mindfuck, major hongo's badassful hero reveal moment is basically the last thing that happens before everybody explodes into pixels except lupin and goemon, it turns out somebody was trying to get a passcode to lupin's hideout, which they failed at because he was just that smart, but also a couple of shots at the end of the episode imply that everything did actually happen for real somehow. that part is confusing and rushed. the loving morals about cultural artifacts and the liberation of asia from non-japanese rule take precedence.)
(okay, major hongo had a faceoff with goemon who cut a notch in his cap brim so you could see one of his eyes, that was a *very* cool bit of visual design that you could never do with proper jigen because he would murder you for slicing his hat. and then goemon toppled dramatically off a bridge because he is the biggest drama queen in the entire cast and we're talking *including lupin iii*.)
like. i grew up on (western) fiction from this era and earlier. the part where i notice or mind the imperialism is aftermarket. i can, if i try, shut it off and enjoy the show. but, like writing an episode composed largely of ernest hemingway references... is that a goal worth having? especially in a worldwide political climate like this where it's very beneficial to notice the overton window shifting before it slams shut on your damn fingers.
* "an untold tale". in which zenigata is summarily slandered by both lupin and the writers. lupin deduces that the zenigata he's working with is actually sherlock holmes in disguise based on the premise that zenigata is not someone who does things like... run headlong into danger? selflessly protect innocent bystanders? kick ass? stick to a trail?... and is instead someone who, while having a solid idea of lupin's next destination, goes and gets blackout drunk and passes out in a bar instead of staking it out or at least yelling "LUPIN" a lot in the general vicinity.
i guess there's also plot, supposedly. this consists of lupin explaining his movements at a certain time, clearly and in order, over a flashback that agrees with his description. No unreliable narrator in sight. No evading every question like it's "give Jigen rubber bullets and practice dodging" day at the hideout. Just reading pages of boring exposition while being ineffectually shot at by a Colonel Sebastian Moran wielding one of the clunkiest air-guns I've ever seen the man burdened with.
(I haven't gotten around to watching the dub of this last-named episode yet, but I hear that somebody majorly failed at googling, overcommitted to "all R's in the Japanese must become L's in English", and created the character of Colonel Sebastian *Molan*. I'm not sure I'm gonna have spoons for that one for a bit.)

Billboard USA Exclusion Zone Episode 1 (02/04/2023)
Welcome everyone to my new blog series where I talked about every new entries from Billboard Global Excl. US chart from this week till beyond. I will be giving a sentence or two about the songs debuted. Let's not waiting any longer let's go!
----------------------------------
18. "MOONLIGHT SUNRISE" by TWICE
I always love TWICE because they usually have fresh sounds and I do prefer their style than Blackping. Having said that, I will admit that this is not on par with their standard. But it's still pretty good and I love the percussion on there.
70. "Komet" by Udo Lindenberg & Apache 207
This is why I love this chart. Without US in the equation, you let song from other countries to shine. In this case it's a great pop rock cut by a rock veteran and a rapper from Germany. Great find.
122. "Ahora Que" by Quevedo
This is basically the Spanish version of Industry Baby but more subdued and the bass swamped up the mix. I do still think Quevedo voice is sexy.
148. "Rush" by Ayra Starr
Oh my god this song is beautiful. Ayra Starr vocal is heavenly, the production is stellar, and the instrumentation are lush but also very modern. Highly recommended.
167. "GOSSIP" by Maneskin ft. Tom Morello
You know I always thought that Maneskin is a poor man's QUEEN BEE and this song just prove me that. I do love Tom Morello guitar here, but the lyrics are very shallow. I know it might be because of the language barrier, but they're just not hitting home how American music industry are exploitative. Still Tom Morello saved this track.
168. "Coracao de Gelo by WIU
Yeah I don't think I will get Brazilian or Lusophone music scene beside Ai Se Eu Te Pego.
180. "Apna Bana Le (From "Bhediya")" by Arjit Singh & Sanchin-Jigar
I actually used to watched a lot of Bollywood movies but they were from like the 80's and 90's. So color me impressed that they managed to bring those sound and modernized it with contemporary instruments.
194. "Those Eyes" by New West
Okay so this is apparently is going viral on TikTok in Southeast Asian region but especially where I'm from Indonesia, and ngl it's kinda surreal that my country could impact the Billboard chart in any capacity but here we are.
199. "I Love You" by back number
It's a back number song, so expect a gentle production about being in love and the conviction from Iyori Shimizu about as romantic as your average The Fray song.
I encourage all of the readers to listen to these songs!

contemplating this post while i stress eat girl scout cookies for my agonies and i think i need to amend that it does not take place this season, but in 2020-2021 OR EVEN BETTER 2019-2020 because -- and this is crucial -- it needs to include chaos dads pierre-茅douard bellemere (beloved handsome) and matt calvert (beloved sexy). every day i cry real tears of stomach acid that they were gone before i thought to be insane about them, but this is fanfiction and MY life. equally crucially, this also fits my imagine of what it was a washington capitals bad decision unprotected intimacy so andr茅 is on like a whole ass new team across the country, moving on with his life after dc, before his babymama shows up.
pebbles and calvy, who are very busy holding up the fourth line, find out andr茅 has a baby and they are like YOU need OUR help which we are qualified to give you because we are OLD AS HELL. and andr茅, who is scared and out of his depth and like five seconds away from a mental breakdown is like i will literally take anyone (iirc there were many more dads on avs in the 2019-2020 season but i'm kinda blanking on who else was on that team besides matt nieto lol) gabe keeps giving me parenting books but i CAN'T READ VERY WELL
so calvy and pebbles give him so much advice and they help him out so much and they teach him how to hire legitimate babysitters and what the best baby formula is and the best way to burp the baby and like all the basic stuff that burky just assumed was the intrinsic knowledge of parenthood but isn't actually. he knows some stuff from being around kids his whole life and inserting himself into the carlsons' family and like just trying to be the best uncle andr茅 possible, but it's different when it's your own child!! and he's so worried and then he sees that he's been doing some things WRONG and that almost causes a meltdown too but then pebbles hands him a beer and is like rest your weary heart my man, not all of this stuff comes naturally, you gotta learn it. and your baby loves you look. and andr茅 looks over and the baby sneezes while looking at him and andr茅 is so full of love he could cry
and then i will leave it to more knowledgeable scholars over how naz fits into this but he does and they fall in love and andr茅 still puts his baby (now toddler i guess) in the cup and they both go still sign in seattle, for my purposes.
in the background pebbles and calvy are like Hell Fuckin Yeah We Did It and the chaos dads stay elite until calvy has his horrible concussion and his forced semi-retirement at which point he's like whatever well i only live once!! this served me well in my hockey career now it is time to haunt pierre-茅douard until i die (bc they are queens and also now besties, bonded forever over the harrowing experience of the avs' fourth line and teaching andr茅 burakovsky to be a dad lol). and he follows pebbles to tampa even though he's from manitoba. it's just easier to get brunch with pebbles when they're in the same city. and THEN they fall in love and it's very stupid and their wedding after the avs knock tbl on their asses in the scf is so romantic and probably in like. aspen. and the whole thing just proves that your life doesn't end at 30 like everyone seems to think it does or when you get so disabled that you have to make radical lifestyle changes. life carries on, you marry your gay bestie, you follow him to tbl's third cup in four years (i need pebbles to get a ring sorry), you kiss him in front of everyone, you both fully retire and spend some unspecified amounts of time in various european and north american countries each year and coach youth hockey and get hired to be on the dops and life is: so good.

I did have a screaming episode more like the victim shoved down a well in the silence of the lambs...at Clarisse starling....its God bitch you will help me now
It will put the lotion on itself about Canadian dugas theory on nun a vut treaties...those ladies of course believed in austerity and pulling roots from the dry ground
Anyway help did arrive so my blood sugar is back up and im.not sleep deprived or dehydrated I do more pray to saint John and scottish new left theory for mercy
John galliano wants to give me the candy and coffee he wants things good to him instead
Uhm fruitive aspects have also been homogenized so I think my culture or genetic disposition does get very phrenetic if im not allowed work apologies from felons like caramel coloring in pepsi
If you go to this type of man he can help call your stuff just bad a bit and stop the Asian factory threats
I think the security was more communists at Taiwan culture here so
And that's all I have known China to be in the states and those contracts were given to Taiwan so stop stalking please
Falun dafa I have a preventative culture and that's communists are more then bad people that was terrorizing
I was white and treaties I guess have to be very controlling China has to help immigrants and I as white should go back to plateau not basin
Its a city mall in the states so claiming a nation is a counter culture has no relevance so that's my discrimination complaint
I may not go for crab I'm who really wanted to go to crabby fast food and I was told white chicks may not have crab and fries
I'm who did want panda I wanted panda
And that's I don't like women who stare at me on Mira Mesa Blvd. Because that area is schizophrenogenic their such nature health freaks they cause schizophrenia
Im baby k and those channeled chicks would not stop staring at me
She told me there is nothing she hates more then fish.....it's the fish and I can't go Eudora welty
Oh my God that security threatened my life so badly I wanted to kill myself
The immigrant security by Vons......said he was from Afghanistan but I think it's chezch people if it's Bosnia herzgovinia they steal out our stuff and try to put European depression cafes in
I'm a hungry to the Vons security a plath a Sylvia so
Americans did bomb Afghanistan so badly they became homeless colonies and homeless colonies may be terrorists so I think the security is maybe lying
Bosnia herzgovinia was largely Muslim so it's if their going to do that here then Moscow was bombed
Eventually a tattooed white man arrived at Dunkin donuts to keep eating in front of me who looked like a soft white underbelly confession who would help find porn off homeless camps so
So that security wanted to call me not a real woman and children of God camp rape me so I don't think I'm all that crazy for preparing to kill myself before enduring the rape planned
The boob queen won't stop trapping herself by a bathroom to help with feeding training to incoming immigrants so the boob queen has to finally tell the men no that's unsanitary
The Fish won't stop trying to cause deformism in poor Muslim areas so Moscow was bombed they are these blue eyed men with no genetic relevance to white people here and it is the blue eyes that has white genetic relevance
The Czech security by Vons that is a Putin ite it looks white and has no relation to us at all
Put....ins golf of no meaning or genetic relevance here
They called us a bugs hitlerite and wouldnt even serve us our Pepsi because a roach poison is in it
Because the blue eyed negro is not white and he thinks he is negro and he is a creepy Czech putinite
My aid asked me what I was doing so I said they sent us to a program in pacific beach....that appears to be heretical
The apostolic documentaries have proved some of this violence is a demonic possession
So they were claiming very violent felonies were people the homeless had to forcibly allow in our programs so I was verbally battered and injured by constant activity and poor sleeping all the time
All they did to me in pb was psychologically batter me I felt like anne frank
Peace is the most insipid man and he could at any time have said no active duty to the felons that just addict around and dissipate energy in violent nothing but peace told us to endure so
And that's I was called an arsonist when the city does have deconstruction work for me
They passify some of us so badly peace does and then try to make us explode at people when they could give us work attire and appropriate safety attire
The men in the pb program have viral odours worse then anything I have ever smelled so I think the compass toilet had body parts flushed down it not toilet paper
Its Dakota country paranoia there is so bad the little lambs the boys Jesuses little lambs were sacrificed in Dakota country
Ruth mas in boulder called me a paranoid I do not do anything violent because I found out as a woman I prefer not having children....I do like liberal history so I have not had to be violent....
If I had to birth I think I dont want pregnancy and have never wanted pregnancy because He would call me a beater the Czech security wants to sell Russians at much higher rates so I would get called a beater
Baltics killed Fred Hampton not whites....Fred Hampton was like elected and baltics couldn't sell Russian privilege under Fred
Anyway I told my aid about pb that those felons do need to be under seclusion orders they cannot be around people here they have reeky odours worse then anything I have ever endured and cannot socialize in any way anymore
They hate white people and so will not lobby for the guns to take care of people that offensive
Anyway I explained to my aid that la Jolla and pb have plans to deconstruct downtown areas and some social housing for a large park with some real estate which is to me a really good idea
White people are not french and it's a repulsive disgusting distressed Parisian nightmare there
Uhm because gainful employment is with energy companies deconstructing prior nuke projects
Its really not a good beach for tourism it's a very scary work port more like modern reads from Mississippi culture like gertrude stein
Anyway I probably do need to go to rehabilitation awhile and pb is not an area that wants population growth so I have to go probably to an institution awhile
And I've found out I am more union then confederate and I need larger populations to have sanitation in life

A Shady Love Poem from the office of Cassandra Apparently
For Apparently, Nobody. Fuckers. If you want Inanna's story? You'll keep reading. If not, feel free to scroll on by and accept my little written kiss sounds
kiss muah muah lovie lovie thank you for the time.
I just love pushing the boundaries of what is possible because the only thing I've ever been good at is fantasizing a better life for myself. I'm just nobody though, don't quote me on that.
Tumblr media
To clarify it is to the same audience as my Battle Worn Boots poem. I'm tired of figuring out the meaning of words. You might say I've been chasing some wild geese for crumbs. What the hell do I know though? I'm just a lady! An American at that!
Another application? In this economy?! Come on. I've done thousands over the course of 7 years, and I'm pretty sure that is not hyperbole but I can't look in my emails without feeling a sense of disgust in my own behavior. Call it an official Strike Declaration.
The offices of Cassandra Apparently calls that? Witchcraft. Ereshkigal's crypto-testimonial (free of as many negative effects to the environment as humanly possible so better than crypto currency) is below the cut. The vibe? Keep that li'l diddy on repeat.
DATE OF PREDICTION: Basically all of 2024 so far. Assholes.
First off? Fuck you for questioning that authenticity. That needs to be said in no uncertain terms. Call me Absolute Truth, if you dare. I won't accept that in writing that needs to be told TO my face. That's where my self respect is, raise the bar any higher and I'll be happy to take this shit elsewhere tyvm (thank you very much in american gods damned english)
The spirits told me?
CALL THE PROJECT CASSANDRA!!!
I knew They'll say "No, that's too good to be true!" The bots will prevent the word from Reaching you. I did it anyway. That's too bold? Cool now I have to code switch to flirting because characters are limited and have to jump through hoops to prove I'm not trying to do that with any real ass person right now.
I say? I'll keep knocking until I get answers. As politely as possible until it might get to be too late. That's called good cyber security working out of courtesy to save something worth fighting for, Your Honor. What if there was a better world that I could show you?
I keep them begging. Yearning for the definition of the word. I am a Lit'rary thirst trap on the world wide web. I'll be Miss spider for a second and keep going anyway.
Oh...yes? GIVE IT TO ME, PLEASE!!!!
Bitch, "please"?
Just "please"? Not even dolling it up for me?
THE queen of 2020 hindsight? Come on.
You know what, now I have to start laying some ground rules. Call them boundaries, a steel sword in a marriage bed, or whatever. That's why I'm so activated anyway, I'm now in military generational trauma land Your Honor.
Yes, it is kind of your fault...but Yes it is kind to know people care. No, I'm not really that angry but Witness Ereshkigal cannot rest this case until it she knows it has been WITNESSED. Inanna does not come out for just anyone. /genuine.
I just have to set some HARD LINES IN THE SAND. I call that: building a wall with just imaginary bricks and mortar since the economy is collapsing and border walls are a poor concept in real life anyway. I call that Quality American Craftsmanship, a dying breed. I watched "Adventures from the Book of Virtues", I know when something is just a lesson and when something is direct. That was how I went to sleep thanks to good ole public television.
Rules for Conducting Business with Cassandra Actually, if you want to come into her house and beg her forgiveness for not listening to her sooner.
For the Camp Records: No, You don't personally have to, but someone should at this point for fuck's sake.
Rule 1: JUST PLEASE?! If this elvish paradise isn't enough for you, then hand me the keys. I'll drive US somewhere better, eh? We can call that Manifest Destiny without slaughtering native peoples and not endangering anyone in the process for being too on the nose. If that's not possible? I get it, but somebody has to try to get something better for me and for the record? I'm very happy to do it by myself thank you very much. My grandmother owns her own building. It's in my blood to seek the best for myself. Noni would approve, and she calls me frequently to provide tech support for her because she can't work a computer to get tenants. I don't have a single aspect of what I do on this WWW that is not exploited by someone, so that's why it has to be like that.
Rule 2: Do not do me the discourtesy of keeping their names from my shit list. If they bother any of you, bring them to me. I'll show them a way around a word or two. I've written thousands just for myself and nobody gets to see that before I am finished.
That last song probably got old by now, so you know what? Let's throw in another one to change the audience and the tone without putting words to what I'm doing for once in my gods damned life.
Rule 3: If I swing and I tell You to Duck? Then, bitch you had better get Quacking. That's not putting too much emphasis on the timeline, that's running out of funds to write checks that I can't cash if I wanted to because Nobody says it is not safe for me there. My entire Organization is on the line. I still honor the value of words, which is a craft that is apparently lost on these ghosts.
Rule 4: I may have been here for a while now, but I do NOT make time for anyone who can't get their damned facts straight. Even if it hits them over the head with ACME's Anvil. Bugs Bunny ass. That's not my problem, Your Honor. That sounds like a pissed off spirit. Too bad the art of Necromancy is dead in this place. If only a wizard knew how to Divine the cards as well as we can. A shame, really.
He must not be a master of the school of Divination like he claims to be!
Rule 5: I do not have time and will not make time for anyone who cannot get their facts STRAIGHT. It's the only straight thing about me, all these facts that I have are the definition of the straight and narrow.
He says that the way I hit it makes him forget his words? Try harder than that!
He says I must be celestial with all these angels singing in the chorus? Try harder than that!
The tone shifts away again? She can't keep doing this, but They say "Third time is the charm!"
Bozo Apparently asks: WHO THE FUCK HEALED YOU? WHO LAID HANDS? WHO CHARGED? THE GOOSE GIRL?? Over 400 hours, assholes. And weeks of playing with wild geese on the internet. 3 different runs through the Holy Narrative and I refuse to play through Act two until my eyes stop burning and my psyche is healed. I know how to play a video game or two and I know far better ones I can spend my time with. Ask Matthew Mercer who my last man might have been. Call that? Rune Factory 4 approves.
Did you say: Only a General could get them stepping this fast?
Bozo says: It could have been too late, sorry I'm a bit rushed! The economy is collapsing and industries I keep trying to get into are shutting me out faster than I can count how many weeks my unemployment checks. It's not that bad, all things considered, but if I was more than a half inch away from losing my familiars with no other options to save them I would not call myself Witch.
Bitch. Fuck a closing paragraph.
Wait, one last recommendation? Watch "The Social Dillema" and tell me I'm looking too into subliminal messaging online again motherfucker. You might as well add the Lizzie Bennet Diaries youtube series to your media diet too, while you're at it.
