These devices and platforms are literally designed to keep you addicted. Millions if not more are spent on research and best tech to keep your attention for as long as possible. We’ve never dealt with anything like this before so it’s a shock to our body and nervous system. Be gentle and understanding of your body reaction to this, and lovingly choose better, choose what’s healthier and what will make you happier instead. I dunno of its being autistic or a lot of time spent over time doing real world hobbies with not background noise that's created this but I got a banjo five (5) days ago and basically every time I've picked up my phone I've nearly immediately put it down because playing the same three (3) notes of Bile Them Cabbage is so much more entertaining and relaxing and dopamine inducing than being on the interent

I cannot stress enough how important it is to have real hobbies where you create something or learn something or just anything where you feel like a person at the end of it. So browsing social media is not a hobby. All you're doing is consuming. Making videos or blog posts could be a hobby, though. Eating, or buying treats, or going out are not hobbies. Those things are a lot of fun, but they aren't hobbies. Everyone likes those things. All you're doing is consuming. Making food and drinks could be a hobby, though, if you like trying new recipes and coming up with your own new ideas. Although, making food could also just be something you need to do to live.

Shopping is not a hobby. Shopping in any form is not a hobby, whether its buying clothes, makeup, antiques, books, fancy shoes, gadgets, anime figurines, or anything else. It's just consumption. And look, I understand the impulse to collect. I have it too. But it's not a hobby. Think about why you want to collect something, whether it's to gain prestige or to be able to look at something you love, or to get that hit of dopamine. I think a lot of collectors who are really into their collections can classify them as hobbies because they aren't just collecting, they're doing something with it. They're making doll clothes, or videos, or doing some sort of outreach that makes them feel like a part of a community. I think that's very different than randomly deciding you want to own as much as you can and thinking of the owning as the end goal.
