You rolled your eyes at your boyfriend. “You heard me. We’re babysitting.” You then gestured to the little girl holding onto your leg. “This is my niece, Anna. We’re going to be taking care of her today.”

Samatoki stared at her before he shook his head. “Yeah, no. I don’t do little kids. You’re on your own. I'll see you later.”

As he turned to leave, you grabbed the back of his hoodie. In a low, threatening voice, you said, “I don’t remember asking you to help me. I remember telling you that we’re babysitting. I’m not doing this alone. And if you don’t help me, I will kill you.”

Samatoki grit his teeth but you could see the fear in his eyes. “You really wanna say that in front of a little kid?”

“Auntie Y/n always makes jokes like that!” Anna exclaims with a giggle. You laughed, your whole terrifying demeanor changing in the blink of an eye.

“Of course! Now what do you want to do today, Anna? Auntie Y/n and Uncle Xiaojun will make all of your wishes come true!”

“Whoa, hey! I’m not an uncle-” You glared at him and Samatoki swallowed his protest. “But I suppose today I am.”

“I want waffles! And I want to go to the park!” She exclaimed before taking both of your hands and dragging you out of your apartment.

You grinned at Samatoki, “Are you ready for this?”

“Absolutely not.” He muttered, but let the kid drag him anyway. He'd rather not have to deal with your fury today.

The three of you visited a cute little cafe not too far from your apartment, where Anna got waffles with strawberries and whipped cream. You ordered yourself a pastry and some coffee, while Xiaojun just stuck to black coffee.

“Not hungry?” You cooed, a teasing lilt in your voice

He shook his head before drinking his coffee. “Not for any of that crap.”

“Wow! These waffles are so big!” Anna squealed with delight. She put a bite in her mouth before squealing again. "And they're so delicious too!"

You smirked at him as you drank your own coffee. “See? The food is delicious! You should get something.”

He rolled his eyes. “Considering I’m the one who paid for it, I can do whatever I damn well please and I'm having coffee.”

“Whatever you say, Samatoki."

After you finished eating, Anna dragged you both to the park down the street. Upon arriving, you sent her on her way to go play on the playground. You and Xiaojun sat on a bench nearby to keep an eye on her as she played.

“So why are we babysitting?”

You shrug, watching you niece play with some of the other kids on the playground. “My brother had an important meeting today and he couldn’t find a babysitter last minute. I offered to help out.”

“Even though you knew we were going to be spending the day together?” He asked, though he didn't sound as angry as he did earlier.

You chuckled, still not looking at him. “Maybe this was a test.”

“A test?”

“To see what kind of father you’d be.”

A light blush adorned his cheeks as he started sputtering. “You can’t just say stuff like that so casually!”

You laughed. “I know but you’re so cute when you’re all flustered like this!”

“Well aren’t you a fun couple?” A mom passing by with a stroller chuckles. “I remember when my husband was in his rebellious phase too. You know, I wish he kept his tattoos, like your husband did. Nevertheless, I’m glad you got yours to settle down with you as well!”

Samatoki’s blush only darkened. “Hey, we’re not-”

You latched onto his arm and laughed. “Yes, I am truly blessed to have such a great husband like Samatoki here! I’m hoping that by hanging out with my niece he might want one or two of his own, you know?”

“Well good luck!” She cheered before moving along.

Samatoki turned to yell at you. "What the hell was that all about?! Are you crazy?! That was so embarrassing! Why did you have to make me look all soft like that?”

You rolled your eyes. “Oh please. None of what I said was a lie.”

He continued to stutter as he tried to come up with a witty comeback. “You, wha-but, I-”

“Auntie Y/n?” Anna came up to the both of you rubbing her eyes. “I’m ready to go home now.”

Patting her head gently, you picked her up and balanced her on your hip. Taking Samatoki’s hand, you pecked his cheek and smiled. “Let’s go home, tough guy.”

"Fine." He muttered, wrapping an arm around your shoulders. "But you still owe me a day all to myself with you."

"We'll see."

"I mean it."

"I know you do." You snicker. "I'll see what I can do, husband."

He groaned. "You're going to be the death of me, woman, I swear."

Aohitsugi Samatoki:

Sick: You taking care of the character while they’re sick. 

You don’t think you’ve ever met someone so resistant to being helped in your life.

You had only dropped in spontaneously to see him but you found him looking under the weather, trying to brush it off as simply a hangover but you knew the signs. You had spent all day trying to coax him into his bed, making him soup which he rudely rejected and tried using your body to stop him from leaving his apartment entirely. Maybe his accusations of holding him hostage in his own home was true but Samatoki never seemed to take a break, and after hiding his pack of cigarettes from him, you managed to convince him to at least lay down in his own bed for a few minutes.

“Good, now go to bed.”

“How the hell am I supposed to sleep when you’re just staring at me?” Samatoki growled out. He’s about to say more probably rude things but his phone started to ring, and he was quick to answer it once he saw who was calling. So probably not Jyuto.

“What the fuck are you talking about? Did you not listen to what I said—I’m coming now.”

Not on your watch.

You snatched the phone out of Samatoki’s hand before he had the chance to reply, ignoring the devilish glare he was sending your way. You placed a hand on his chest and pushed him back down on the bed, the mere fact you were able to do so without losing a limb proving that Samatoki wasn’t on his A game today. No way you were going to let him leave the house in that shape!

“Listen, your boss is sick, and that means he’s off-duty for today. Solve the problem yourself like a big boy or ask someone else! Don’t call back again.”

They didn’t.

Tonight Before The Bed I Want To Tell Why I’m Writing This Tag

Tonight before the bed I was thinking about a lovely and sad headcanon about how Rio and Dice might have first met. It’s a headcanon that is likely not going to be canon since we know by the last chapter that Dice didn’t run away from home until he was 16-17, but for the sake of the prompt I’ll write it down. But I saved it as a draft to elaborate later instead because I would like to go to sleep as soon as possible.

That aside, I want to thank everyone who liked/reblogged my posts! 💖 I edited all of them to be a proper title because it was difficult to distinguish the notifications when all posts started with “Tonight Before The Bed”. I know this blog does not have much followers compared to my main blog— but to consider I started posting here without expecting any interaction at all, it is honestly a blessing to see that my posts are read and enjoyed by other fans! (I actually don’t like the word fans/readers, we all are here over talking about the things we enjoy! So friends it is!)

I have actually started drabbling these thoughts as a mental-exercise to let go of perfectionism. It has been difficult for me to talk about HypMic in public because I either gush and co-plot/make headcanons with my partner or I cry to my best friend on hours and hours about how much I love about JakuRamu, but the only public things I posted until these drabbles were the neat, well-organized fanfictions on AO3.

Which is pretty funny, actually, because those who know me, KNOWS that I am a HYPE person, an extrovert who actually just TAAAALLLLKKKKKSSSS and POSSSTTSSS!! But I guess…

I guess, something held me back about Hypmic. I’m not sure what. Definitely not something negative, though! Perhaps because I’ve had been on a stressful stage of my life that I didn’t feel energy to show myself not as The Cool Fanfic Author but Grace herself, because I’m a bit— a bit 👉🏻👈🏻 of a perfectionist. So it’s either each fic will be really polished, or they will be roleplayed until conclusion with my partner, or they will not be published at all.

Which is bullshit, honestly.

I’ve had my fair share of perfectionism ruining my life so I thought to myself—

Hey.

What if you just, ✨ post? ✨

Without editing? Without writing multi-chapter long fanfics about it that are likely going to be abandoned once it gets tiring to flash out the next chapter even though you already planned the ending?

So you mean it’s enough to say “I’m thinking about Samatoki Aohitsugi” or “This JakuRamu line is so cool!” or “Just a one sentence fanfic idea” instead of turning them into a novella?

…

..and to be honest, since ramuda-kinnie did not have a lot of followers and since I could not see much Hypmic content on recent Tumblr tags, I thought they wouldn’t really get any attention at all. Which might be discouraging for the past-me since I’m used to being recognized for my writing. (Which I appreciate with all my heart! ❤️) So when I started posting it was not for a particular audience.

I was just testing the waters.

How would it feel for my brain to let these out?

Would it make me get bored of Hypmic/bored of this discussion because I already wrote them here? (In a sense they would be completed, so, hypothetically, they might not suffice the dopamines for me.) I honestly thought they would, but… To my surprise it backfired! It backfired in a GREAT WAY THAT I COULD NOT EVER SEE COMING—

Not only did it become a lovely habit to drabble my thoughts here each night, it gave me more self-awareness through character analyses, it made me recap & rethink what is important for me, why I like a particular scene, what about a character I love, what this says to me as a person and how I can get better in my personal relationships and my relationships with myself by appreciating the parts of Hypmic that I love (refer to last Samatoki post, such an inspiration he is!).

It also put an end to my mind aimlessly coming back to half-shaped headcanons or ideas that were never voiced or not planned to be a full fanfic. I do keep a journal for personal matters, so writing Hypmic drabbles here made a similar effect— helped me to put them out instead of them working on the background of my mind.

But here is the thing that shocked me.

Instead of “letting go” because I “put them out”, it only made my love for Hypmic… stronger?? Like how?? It made me go through my blog happily even if the post has 2 likes (THANK YOU MY TWO NEW BESTIES ILY) because hey. It’s out there. I wrote it. I wrote it for characters I love and even if it does not get immediate attention, it’s okay because I didn’t write them for recognizion. (I don’t think wanting validation over your art/fic is anything to be ashamed of, btw, it is well deserved! I totally want my fics to be well read and make readers happy! But for these specific drabbles, getting reads was not my goal.)

I wrote them mostly for myself, and for people who may be struggling the same. Having that Fic Idea but too drained to say it so you do Nothing. Loving a character or a ship but tag is so Silent you just wonder if you’re the only person on the earth loving them (felt so with JakuRamu EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE ALMOST CANON LIKE WHY).

It was also… Self-respect, I guess. Because I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and try to do something imperfect. Talk to a fandom with whom I have only made few (bUT ABSOLUTELY GREAT ilsym) friends with. I didn’t know what to expect through Tumblr interactions (but I expected to get not much).

But…

No matter what, I wanted to let my thoughts out, so even if the tags are silent, I could be the voice I wanted. I love my partner by all means but sometimes you gotta be your own Prince Charming, right? It was like that. I wanted to make myself and (if there is, which there is) who may enjoy reading them happy! I wanted to say, hey! Life is difficult but here is a cute thought I had! How lucky and blessed we are that we have Tumblr, a not so toxic social media platform (unlike instagram and tiktok etc., not about fanbase or anything literally the algorithm and selling strategies and influencers and everything are soooo suffocating that I quit them 3 months ago), where I can post them, add images, change the colors of text according to character theme and even add tags so we can find them!!! Here!!!!! I baked this!!! For us!!! I hope you enjoy!! ❤️

     Red eyes watched the woman intently as she paced back and forth. He couldn't be sure what exactly she was doing, but it didn't look important. Anxious, maybe? That made the most sense. Sitting up in his spot on the couch, Samatoki reached out once she passed by for what felt like the fiftieth time.

     A noise of surprise left Ezuki, landing in an odd position on the man's lap. Realizing what had happened, a quiet chuckle left her.

“‘Toki, what’re you doing?”

“Tryin’ t’calm ya down, what else?” Without much thought, he pressed a few kisses to the woman’s exposed upper arm, that being the closest skin he could reach at the moment.

     Snorting a little at him, she moved to sit more comfortably on his lap, then leaned up a slight bit to kiss his cheek.

“You’re a dork, hun.”

“Don’t think y’got much room t’talk there ya know.”

“Woah, what happened in here?” Samatoki chuckled, throwing his jacket on the sofa as he took a look around the apartment.

When he had left that morning, the apartment had been rather dark, but now it was decorated with beautiful string lights and colorful ornaments, making the room feel warm and bright. The small tree was shining and Samatoki couldn’t help but nod in approval at your decorations.

“What?” you asked, walking into the living room and giving Samatoki a peck on the cheek. “Oh! I decorated for Christmas…you don’t like it?” you asked, suddenly worried.

This was your first Christmas together as a couple and you had thought that some decorations would make the place feel a bit more special. Now though, you were worried you may have gone overboard – it was Samatoki’s apartment after all, not yours.

“No, it’s fine,” Samatoki said, nodding nonchalantly. You quickly grabbed his hand and stared up at him with wide eyes.

“Wait, so is it okay that I decorated the place without asking?” you asked. Samatoki chuckled and brought his hand down on your head.

“Yea, it’s fine. They’re nice so stop worrying about it,” he said with a small smile. His reassurance made you breathe out a sigh of relief. “Nemu used to decorate all the time for Christmas. I think she just didn’t like the dark,” he chuckled.

“You better call her over tomorrow for Christmas! Family shouldn’t be alone you know,” you scolded him, taking his hand.

“I’m not alone, I’m stuck with you,” Samatoki teased, letting you wrap your hand around his. You rolled your eyes but smiled at him.

“Yes. Yes. You are stuck with me. Me and all of my Christmas decorations,” you added, walking into the room.

Samatoki followed you, listening to you explain how you but up the decorations, his gaze falling on your excited face and vibrant smile. Sitting down into the couch, he was confident that he could watch you talk for hours on end and never get bored.

“Uh-oh, you shouldn’t have sat there,” you warned, sitting down on the couch beside Samatoki.

He lifted an eyebrow at you suspiciously and waited for you to respond for a moment, but you simply pointed up at the ceiling. Samatoki followed you gaze up to where a small bundle of mistletoe was hanging directly above the sofa, perfectly placed.

“I actually think it’s hanging over you, not me,” Samatoki said, leaning into you with a smirk on his face.

“Ah, okay,” you whispered, feigning seriousness as you nodded. “Then that means I get to do this,” you added, happily as you pressed a soft, gentle kiss on Samatoki’s lips. When you pulled away, you felt him wrap an arm around you, pulling you closer to him. He was about to pull you in for another kiss when he suddenly paused, glancing up at the mistletoe once more.

“You better take that down before other people get here. I don’t want anyone else getting any ideas,” he growled, making you laugh lightly as he held you closer. You pressed a small kiss on his nose and nodded to him with a hum.

“Alright, I’ll take it down…tomorrow. Tonight, I’m leaving it up.”

Ichiro's (Samatoki's) Curry

"How can Ichiro stand this?" Aohitsugi Samatoki lets out a nicotine free sigh, feeling some goosebumps as the voice coming out of his throat sounds like the one the leader of Buster Bros!!!, Yamada Ichiro owns.

Until now, he couldn't believe that whenever he stares at the mirror, the face of his enemy will be reflected before him. Instead of being alone in his flat, he lives with Ichro's two brothers who don't stop arguing every single change they get.

"I WILL BE THE ONE COOKING!" The second eldest, Jiro, yells.

"OHO, YOU SURE YOU CAN?" The youngest, Saburo, yells back.

"I CAN!"

"YOU CAN BUT I DON'T TRUST YOUR COOKING!"

"WHAT THE--?!"

He looks over the freshly chopped vegetables on the counter; the sound of boiling water bubbling silent compared to the arguing children and the stomachs rumbling. Samatoki is stressed out and hungry, suffering from withdrawal symptoms (mentally at least) and a headache from the noise which doesn't tone down no matter how hard he tries to ignore it.

"Aaaaaaaaaarg! SHUT THE FUCK UP, YOU TWO!" Finally paying attention to their visitor(?), the two momentarily stop bickering. "I'll be the one cooking; you two fix the fucking table."

It must be Ichiro's face acting like a charm that the two follow him silently. He finally turns his back on them,grabbing the red apron hanging from the rack, and starts cooking curry. He makes servings more than the three of them can eat, denying the fact that he finds it fun to cook again for someone else.

Taking the pot towards the table, he sees the two seated right in front of each other, glaring but never breaks into another argument. Wordlessly, he takes their plates and serves them with the curry.

"Oi Saburo, take a bite first," Jiro urges, looking at the plate of curry before them.

"Stupid, aren't you the older one here. You eat first, Onii-chan."

"You--!"

"Don't fight on the table," Samatoki chides, taking a bite. The spice bites backs agressively and putting his mouth on fire; Oh fuck, he made it too spicy. Ah well whatever. "It's spicy. If you two are men, ya won't mind, would you?"

A challenge offered with a smirk, worse with their esteemed brother's face, the two readily accept the challenge. Halfway from finishing their servings, Jiro is already red, Saburo sweating profusely minutes before him. Despite the heat, they seem to enjoy the curry, asking him for seconds.

"Oi shitty Yakuza, eat too," Jiro says, downing the glass of water Samatoki slid over his side after his third serving.

"You're inside Ichi-nii's body so you better take care of it," Saburo supplies, taking his plate back after Samatoki gave him another serving. Lips curving into a smug smile, he adds while pointing at the neglected pile of potatoes and carrots on the Yakuza's plate: "if you're a man, you're gonna eat your veggies."

This brat.. . He knows so fucking well how to stir Samatoki up as well. "Bring it on!" He gives in to the youngest's taunt, missing the fact that the two of them are secretly thanking him for the nice meal.

An Oncoming Storm

Mod Macaron: Hello this is like 3% to being a coherent drabble, but it’s 3:30am and I am upset and wanted to post something bc I miss this blog :< Here’s some Angst Samatoki with the one that got away!!

He didn’t want to reveal that he was terrified - that the idea of you getting too comfortable kept him up with anxiety because he was an oncoming storm that was currently just a blip in your radar. It’s not until he got closer that you would see him the way that he really was - capable of destruction and pain.

Samatoki, why don’t you ever hang out with me? 

It was an innocent question - he rejected your hopeful date proposal and you immediately deflated from your positive mood. He hated seeing you upset, especially since this was such a normal occurrence between you; you’d meet up either at his place or yours, enjoy dinner together before hanging out watching movies and talking about anything that came to mind and it always ended the same way - with you saying an abrupt goodbye after your attempt at a public outing together was rejected. He answered it with a simple, Don’t wanna be seen with you before you left.

He wanted to say yes, he wanted to have proper dates but he knew it was a risk. There were more than enough people that would do anything to gain an advantage over him and since Nemu’s disappearance, there were probably people just waiting to grab whoever could win over his heart in hopes that he would either give in to their ransoms or kill them just to make a statement. He couldn’t have you put yourself out there in that way, you could be seen as his friend - he’s more than happy to have Jyuto pick you up so you could hang out with the crew, but he couldn’t be seen alone with you.

“Oi, it’s Samatoki,” He said once you answered your phone, “That thing you wanted to go to on Saturday, I got invited to it so if you want to meet up there we can.”

“Oh, I’m sorry, Toki,” You paused for a brief moment and his heart dropped, you never  “I actually have a date on Saturday. But I can try to visit after dinner if nothing else is planned.”

“It’s fine if you can’t. Have fun on your date, if they try anything just call?”

“Of course, I know my Samatoki-sama will protect me from anything,” You laughed, the sounds that normally could fix his bad mood but it just made him feel hopeless and upset, “If you want to hang out, I’m free on Friday night. Come over, yeah?”

He wanted to say yes. 

“Can’t, I’m busy,” He hung up before you could reply, unwilling to hear a ‘maybe next week’ or another attempt at rescheduling because he knew that you were just saving yourself from him.

Many will call you a liar. Others simply won’t believe it. Jyuto will laugh right in your face. And Rio, well, he doesn’t care either way. But you swear it’s the truth.

Samatoki was soft for you.

Honestly, you didn’t quite believe it yourself. But ever since your relationship with him became serious enough for the two of you to start living together, you’ve noticed the subtle changes in him. He came home at a decent time and would make food for the two of you to share. He also seemed clingier when you slept together. He was just different behind closed doors.

But he would rather die than admit it.

Now, today was your three year anniversary, and your first anniversary living together. Samatoki promised you a dinner for two and a walk along the beach. It was simple, sure, but you didn’t need a big fancy date to know he loved you. If anything, simple dates like this proved just how much he loved you without making a big deal about it.

It was four o’clock on the dot when Samatoki texted you quickly, a small smile on his face. Grabbing his jacket, he slipped out of his office and headed straight for you. Of course his subordinates tried to persuade him to go out that not, especially considering he seemed more dressed up than usual. But he brushed them off, telling them that he was taking the night off.

“Wah! Say it ain't so, sir!” One of the underlings wailed. “You never take time off.”

He rolled his eyes. “Well today it is. So try not to get into too much trouble or I’ll never hear the end of it from Jyuto.”

Before they could keep him from you any longer, he got into his convertible and drove off. Of course this was the exact moment Jyuto decided to call him. Groaning, he answered it, even though he knew he shouldn’t. He was already a couple minutes late.

“What do you want?”

“Where are you headed?”

He looked around but didn’t notice any cop cars. “Why do you care?”

“Rio invited me to his camp for dinner. Like hell I’m going to do that. So I’m going with you.”

“The fuck you are!” Samatoki snapped. “I’m busy tonight and you’re not coming. Figure out a different excuse.”

He ended the call before he could yell at him. He made a quick stop before finally making it home. Smiling, he snuck up behind you and wrapped his arms around your middle and kissed your neck. He set the flowers he got for you on the vanity table beside you.

“You look amazing.” Samatoki mumbled into your neck.

A smile tugged at the corner of your lips and you touched his cheek. Your outfit perfectly complimented his royal blue silk shirt he usually wore on special occasions. You had your hair all done up and bought new shoes just for today. You both looked like a couple of movie stars.

“I could say the same thing about you, handsome.”

He chuckled. “I’ll get started on dinner, okay?”

“Do you want some help?”

Shaking his head, he pressed a kiss to the top of your head. “No. Today is all about you.”

You pouted. “It’s about you too, you know. I’ll set the table. Fair?”

He sighed. He knew he wasn’t going to be able to talk you out of helping him. And he didn’t mind it all that much. So he nodded and got to work making your favorite meal. The two of you talked about your days and anything else you wanted to tell the other. The sweet domestic bliss of the moment made Samatoki feel complete and full.

With you, he was able to put aside all of his troubles and anxieties. He wasn’t Samatoki Aohitsugi, second-in-command of the Katen Family, or leader of Mad Trigger Crew. He was your Samatoki and even though it was kind of embarrassing to him, he was wrapped around your fingers. And he was fine with that. Besides, you only used your power for evil on the very rare occasion.

When dinner was done, you took his hand and led him to the beach not too far from where you both lived. Again, the two of you talked and splashed each other occasionally with the ocean water. He was having so much fun with you, he completely lost track of time. However, as the sun dipped below the horizon, he remembered his special plan he came up with a couple weeks ago.

Taking your hand and holding your face gently, he said, “Y/n, you are one of the most special people in my life. I couldn’t imagine living one second without you. And so I want to ask you, will you marry me?”

“Oh my God! Yes!”

Hello! I hope this is not too specific but could I request Samatoki taking care of his s/o who has chronic migraines? I'm fine with either a drabble or just headcanons and would really appreciate it if there was some soft cuddling thrown in there. Thank you!

Samatoki finds you curled under your sheets. His first instinct is to immediately turn on the lights. And when he hears you groan, he shuts them back off and turns on a lamp. 

“You alright?” 

You peek out at him with a whine, and he furrows his brows. 

“Migraine.” 

He mouths “Oh” and immediately tries to quiet his voice. He’s naturally kind of loud. 

Do you have medications to take for these times? Samatoki is there with them and a glass of water. Or coffee, if caffeine helps you. 

And if you’re up for it, he curls up beside you, trying not to be too clingy, probably only has an arm slung around you slightly, just to let you know he’s there if you need him.

You closed your eyes and took a deep breath, your grip tight on the mug of hot chocolate. The sounds of pots and pans began to fade, and the low, consistent humming of the oven was now gone. Peering open your eyes ever so slightly, you were grateful for the low lighting in the room – any brighter and your head would have gone right back to pounding.

“Here you go, baby,” Samatoki said, placing a plate of food in front of you before sitting down in the chair beside yours. You didn’t move at first, your body heavy and sluggish, and your eyes still burning from crying so hard.

“Thank you,” you finally managed to mutter as you slowly placed your mug down on the table. It was as if time was moving in slow motion and you couldn’t speed up the clock even if you wanted to.

Exhaustion didn’t even begin to explain how you felt. It was the stress of everything cumulating to one point that turned out to be the edge – one you didn’t see and went soaring over into your doom. Crying into your pillow was always the hardest part of having mental breakdowns, and you almost managed a weak smile at that thought, because this time was different. This time you didn’t cry into your pillow. This time you had cried into Samatoki’s chest.

“You have to eat, even just a little bit,” Samatoki said in a stern voice. After a moment though, his voice softened and he added a small please at the end, as if to entice you even more. It worked.

You brought your hand over to your spoon and tried to pick it up. You didn’t want to eat, you wanted to crawl into bed to sleep. But the hunger pains were too large to ignore and the small apple from that morning’s breakfast simply wasn’t enough anymore.

“I’m sorry,” you said, quietly, afraid that if you said anything more you would break out into tears again. Your throat was still sore and tight, and you knew that anything could be the thing that brought you to the edge again.

“Don’t apologize, Y/N. You haven’t done anything wrong,” Samatoki reassured you, bringing his hand over to your own.

He was staring at you with round, worried eyes and even through your hazy mind, you found it telling. You knew he was a good man and every further action he made cemented that thought. It made you want to be better for him as well.

“Here,” he suddenly said, reaching for your spoon and swiftly picking it up. He filled it up with a bit of soup and brought it up to your mouth. You were confused for a moment before you realized that he was attempting to feed you.

You smiled then, despite everything, despite the headache and the tears and the guilt and the anxiety, you smiled. And when you did, Samatoki sighed.

“Would you just say ‘ah’ for me already?” he asked, shaking his head. You knew he would wait though, and you knew he would feed you as much as he possible could. So you simply opened your mouth and allowed him to do so.

“It’s really good,” you said, letting the savory taste of the broth fill your senses, making you hum in satisfaction. It was as though your body was being rejuvenated by that one spoonful, and you wondered if it was true what people said. If putting love into cooking really did make it taste better.

“Of course it is. I made it,” Samatoki said, shooting you a proud smile and holding up another spoonful to you. You worked faster then, feeling your body warm up as the rust on the cogs of your mind and soul began to move once more.

All of the deadlines and the stress and the tasks seemed to melt away and not matter anymore. The only thing on your mind was tasting more of that soup. If someone had told you right then and there that this was what the ambrosia of the gods tasted like, you might have been inclined to believe them.

Because it was made for you. And it was made with pure love.

“Thanks, Toki,” you said, letting him feed you another spoonful. “Really…I love you,” you added, just for good measure. You needed him to know. Even if he knew, you needed him to really know in that moment how much he meant to you.

Of course he knew.

“Yea, love you too, babe,” Samatoki said, almost too casually. But his eyes were brighter now and that was all that mattered. He knew you loved him and you knew he loved you.

And that was really all you needed after a breakdown like today.
