gay rant time. :)
i cried a little bit today. it's the beginning of pride month, and watching a video about the owl house made me realize how INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT that show is. like, it finally downed on me.
we have a latina protagonist, with a darker skin tone, who likes both boys AND girls, and has a crush on this other little witch who also likes girls. and they're the main couple. THE MAIN COUPLE. on a DISNEY show. not side characters, not just an implied non confirmed crush, no. we see it all. we see them blush, ask each other out, share their past with each other, share their first kiss. we get actual development of a MAIN SAPHIC COUPLE!! that's INCREDIBLE. it's ACTUALLY DEVELOPED. Not just thrown out there on the last season with no development at all (all representation is important tho, don't get me wrong).
it's literally so important for kids to see this. to see two girls holding hands, explicitly saying they're dating, kissing. it's incredibly important to show them that it's okay. but it's also important for the parents, to see that hey, maybe they've been wrong about some things. a sense of acceptance, a new perspective on the world... i wish i got that. you know?
it also makes me extremely emotional the fact that: cartoons like adventure time, svtfoe, gravity falls, regular show, and etc have been part of my childhood, of my generation's childhood. these cartoons have marked us, changed our senses of humor, the ways we see the world, have made us laugh and are now nostalgic for us. “remember gravity falls?” “oh yeah, it came out when i was seven. i still love it!”
and now — now cartoons like the owl house, shera, amphibia, dragon prince, they'll ALL mark the NEXT generation. these incredible, representative, fun, beautifully animated cartoons, will shape other children just like the cartoons i mentioned before did for us. and that makes me so, so happy. it's a weird feeling, this proud sensation deep in my chest that makes me wanna bawl my eyes out in the best way possible. there's couldn't be any better medias for the next generation than these.
so thank you. thank you to every single person who's fought for our rights, to the creators of shows like this, to the animators, everyone. happy pride. <3

I think I have cracked the chelby code , I was interested in the movie on the trailer alone but the compilation of chelby comics on YouTube made me seal the deal , on the topic of trailers
youtube
I never saw a trailer basically tell audience what’s supposed to be a surprise and the fact that by the end Ruby is fighting against a red giant monster with a trident and Chelsea appearing in this promo as a mermaid with red hair and a trident https://youtu.be/99_TZqyyDrE?si=DZKhz4qGt6wGfyls
youtube
If that wasn’t enough there also this
It’s kinda of embarrassing how telegraphed the twist was , and when the movie confirmed it , it should have sinked the ship right ? … weeeeelllllll no
and as someone who knew of it after the movie release , whenever you ship it or not ,
let me explain why it didn’t :
From scene one the story explains how krakens are misunderstood creatures , being labeled as bloodthirsty monsters but in reality they are noble guardians victims of prejudice , so much that the Gillmans have to pretend to be Canadians to live on Oceanside , it’s a simple story on how you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but there is a problem , and that problem are the mermaids , the trailer itself calls them vain narcissist , basically what people thinks the krakens were , the mermaids actually are ,
some saw a problem with this , the movie presents all krakens as good and all mermaids as evil which is true in the narrative , but something like this already happened before , back when SVTFOE wasnt a dumpster fire , it tackled the theme of historical revisionism https://youtu.be/O-mr46TOHmk?feature=shared
youtube
And the stories pass down to generations might have been modified to fit a narrative
youtube
The thing is the setup is not that much different from what grandmamah tells Ruby , both end up ruling unchallenged a vast territory even though many others inhabit it , it’s like if star was right from the start and monster were only evil and the were was no wrong in conquering their territory , so people were a bit confused on how the movie seemingly presented on side as missunderstood and the other as completely in the wrong , of course the actual answer it’s that riff on the little mermaid , but nothing on the movie is about the little mermaid, Chelsea just looks like her and people like her because they thought she saved Connor , but enough about that a movie should criticized what it is and not what it could been ,
which brings me to the main reason on why chelby still exist and it’s thriving (on tumblr) , the movie does a terrible job at presenting any character that are not the Gillmans , Chelsea or the captain that is actually pretty funny , Ruby friend group have one personality trait each , goth girl , clown girl and streamer , Connor exist as a reward for Ruby at the end and aside from maybe skating I cannot tell you what he likes aside from the things that Ruby likes ( I dare you to came up with something) ,
that leaves out Chelsea that despite being presented as a self centered popular girl until the very end it’s the only positive reinforcement Ruby has in the story , everyone else either disappears like Ruby friends ( which would have ditched to go to prom without her ) , grandmamah basically wants her to be the next in line to the throne ( a kraken always answer the call ) and Agatha left Ruby in the dark about the whole situation of her being capable of becoming a kraken , this leaves Chelsea in a weird position story wise she’s the main antagonist but it’s also a mentor to Ruby and it’s what she needs the most at the moment , case in point in a moment of vulnerability Ruby goes to her
youtube
and she actually received good advice and from this point on the movie is about Chelsea teaching Ruby how to be more in touch with her kraken side and with all the previous points it comes together to make them the most intriguing relationship in the movie and it made people want that the story would have been focused on them

Deadendia Book 3/Entire Series Thoughts
Spoiler Warning obvs, but ill leave the spoiler thoughts under the cut.
General thoughts
Holy shit Hamish's art got so much better as it progressed. I loved the general style of book 1 don't get me wrong, but the polish in book 3?? Im so excited to see their next works
I love how each character progressed, I don't read graphic novels normally so I'm not sure if this is the norm but some stuff felt rushed. Natural for the character's arc but it happened so quickly
I'm so gay for the men in this series. I'm so sorry for the stuff I will draw on alt accounts. Hamish if you see any of that I am so sorry/you're welcome?
The representation and just general experience of the characters (much like the Netflix counterparts) made me feel so seen as an individual in a way any other media has not.
Every outfit in this book served cunt
I wish I got the e-book version somewhere so I could take better screenshots
SPOILERY THOUGHTS This is mostly me gushing about how gay I am with a few plot thoughts spread in the midst as I think of them
I loved how Barney and Logs were never portrayed as perfect for each other, even being a point of making the "perfect" ending weird for them. It felt nice. I wish Az had more time to develop a dynamic with Logs but like, page space and the amount of time you have in a comic series is limited. (this leaves more space for my brain to fill in the gaps so its fine)
Norma and Badyah was the long game, Normyah enjoyers I hope the pay off knocks your tits clean off. I also LOVE Zagan being a rebound, I believe in doomed Yuri.
Tumblr media
GGGod I wanma fuck the mustache off this man. sorry. I think I hauve covid
I love that we got SVTFoE ending but good. Not to compare the series since they are VERY wildly different but I'm glad stuff wasn't handwaved
Hamish that one patreon post abt "THE WRITER'S BARELY DISGUISED FETISH" I get it. I saw Barney in both the wrestling out fit that made it into the book and on patreon and man I fucking get it
I liked Courtney's deal of trying to be a martyr for the gang but I do wish they had more like foreshadowing in the first meet up in book 3. I know they call it an "opportunity" but that combined with the really prim way of speaking the entire time felt really no it.
I like this page :)
Tumblr media
Barney's mom was too real. She felt too real i needed to stare at the ceiling for a bit reading her bit.
PETER??????!??? Never trust a Peter.
The world was worth one life and that life was worth the world, idk what the point of that sentence is but everyone agreeing to risk everything to right one massive wrong was really sweet idk
Pugsley voice: You two met on Grindr I'm calling it
Do you think Pugsley would be the homophobic dog. I know its ooc but it would just be really funny to me specifically
HAMISH CAMEO AS COURTNEY'S DAD???
DANNY'S GAY??????
Oh i like the way Hamish uses Barney's hair to differentiate between the worlds (Blue in the 13th reset, natural orange in the 14th and then pink in the OG world)
Pink haired Barney is my fave...
I think Badyah ate this book, honestly like serve queen
Seriously logs with a mustache is really making me feel unwell. I keep looking at him. Logs if you're out there PLEASE DM ME.
Please keep creating Hamish I really wanna read the new stuff you've been teasing on Patreon. Big Boy now in my hands please please please please

My next thing on a SVTFOE rewrite would be changing Ludo's crew.
They seem like a bunch of random monsters and they all attack Star every time in canon.
How I would change them is since Buff Frog's species lays a bunch of eggs at the same time, why not make Ludo's crew entirely Buff Frog and his siblings. You may be wondering why him and his siblings? Well, my idea would be for them to be parallels to the past Queens of the Butterfly kingdom, and instead of them all attacking together, they each take a turn in the first season attacking the gang for Star's wand.
Buff Frog would obviously be a parallel for Star, what with choosing to make their own path different from the rest of the family's. Then you would have siblings who are counterparts for Moon, Eclipsa, Solaria, and so on.
I'll admit I never really had an issue with the fact that Ludo's crew consisted of all kinds of different monsters, though I did think it was a little odd that there weren't any monsters like him in his group - then again, in the later seasons, it seems like outside of that one girl version of Ludo that showed up for a joke, it doesn't seem like there's any kappa besides his family in general. And the whole thing of them all attacking together to get the wand also never really bothered me because it was honestly rarely the focus or even a major point of the episode, even in the first season.
I do like the idea of Buff Frog having siblings though...partly because I feel like it'd just make more sense for him to have siblings than for him to be an only child, which is the impression I get from canon. Even if you assume that, because of their more humanoid body structure and just the fact that presumably they don't just leave their eggs to fate, they don't have as many babies at once as regular frogs....I'd still assume that Frog Monsters like Buff Frog tend to have several babies at once, so the idea that Buff Frog is the only one in his family with no explanation or even implication....is weird to me.

The Future (Blog Announcement)
NOTE: While technically this post does not contain spoilers regarding “For The Future”, I have spoiler tagged the post as it kinda does insinuate something HASN’T happened this episode which some still might consider to be a spoiler.
Hey everyone,
So there is now only one episode of The Owl House left.
I will keep this blog as a The Owl House blog for as long as I can keep producing new content, but honestly I doubt that will be long. Unlike the last fandom I was in, SVTFOE following the trans Marco and Tomco theories. The main theory I had in this show, that Lumity was a ship that would become canon did become canon. I feel fairly safe in saying Aladrius will become canon too. It feels like The Owl House will wrap up all my theories nicely to the point that when the credits roll I will have little further to say then, “Wow! What an amazing show! It ended way too soon but everything I thought would happen, happened.”
Maybe it doesn’t go that direction. After all, Aladarius might not become canon but I do feel it has potential to do so. For the most part though, I think The Owl House is gonna wrap up everything this blog was looking at nicely.
So once The Owl House is done, where next?
I will say I have made one major decision about this blog while following The Owl House. This blog has a clear theme and that is LGBT+ representation in Disney TV Animation. Whether that is a theory or whether it is canon, that will be the focus of this blog going forward.
I will generally pick a show and choose to focus on that show for its duration. The first time round it was the Trans Marco Theory in SVTFOE and this time it was Lumity in The Owl House. I won’t pick a new show to focus on until The Owl House has had its final curtain and it probably won’t be straight away, but that is the future of this blog and I hope to see you all in the next fandom, whatever that will be.

SVTFOE oneshot part 6
Lekmet should have been the 2.17.2 episode
Marco and Star stood with Jackie kneeling in front of an old dog lying in a bed.
“Hay there Max. How are you doing today?”
The dog slightly lifted his head a looked at her, his tail wagged after seeing her. He then licked her face.
“Hahaha, glad to hear it. I brought a few people to see you.” She then gestured to the two people with her. “My boyfriend Marco and our friend Star. Can you say hello?”
Max turned to look at them and barked at them. Jackie then backed up and let Marco kneel in front of Max and began to pet him. “Hi there. Jackie told me about you. She said you have been with the family for as long as she can remember.” Max began to lick Marco’s hand then. “Well, you did a great job raising her.”
He then stood up and let Star take his place.
“Hi there Max. I am Star, a magical princess from another dimension. I got a treat for you.”
She then reached into her bag and pulled out a bone.
“My dad eats a lot of meat, and I got a bone from him after he was done with dinner for you.”
Max then started to happily chew on the bone, making Star smile at him.
“You like that bone, don’t you Max?”
She kept smiling at him as she stood up but then began to frown as she turned to look at Jackie.
“Are you sure you have to put him down?”
Jackie frowned at that before turning to look at the dog. “He is an old dog. The vets say that he has several chronic, uncurable, and painful health issues that are cropping up. It would be better to give him a peaceful end than force him to live through them just because we don’t want to say goodbye.”
Star looked downcast at that before her eyes lit up. Marco looked at her with a worried expression.
“Uh, Star? What are you thinking?”
“What if I can get the issues cured?”
Jackie and Marco shared a look before turning back to her.
“Are you thinking of using your wand?”
She just shook her head at that. “After giving Marco a tentacle arm that tried to take over his body? No way am I taking that risk again. I am going to call Mom and ask if she knows any. If that doesn't work, there is a member of the MHC that is in charge of healing magic that could help out.”
Star then turned to leave the house as Marco put a hand on her shoulder. “Star, sometimes things just end, and there is we can do but accept it.”
She paused and let Marco’s head rest on her shoulder for a bit. “Maybe.” She then brushed the hand off. “But this isn’t one of those times.”
She then left the house with Jackie and Marco looking at her with a worried look as she left. Marco then turned to look at Jackie who just held up a hand before he could say anything.
“Don’t worry about any boyfriend duties to help me with my grief. Go after Star and make sure she doesn’t do anything too bad, ok?”
He just sighed in relief and ran after her.
Star’s room
“Call mom.”
Moon appeared in the mirror with a worried look on her face.
“What happened? Are you ok? Is Ludo back?”
Star held up her hands as she looked at her in shock.
“Whoa, there mom. Nothing anywhere near that level Mom. A friend's dog is just suffering from several health issues and I wanted to know if you knew healing spells I could use.”
Moon’s face quickly shifted to relief before settling on downcast. “Unfortunately, Star, healing magic is one of those types of magic that requires you to know multiple variables. What kind of issues are we talking about?”
Marco then walked up next to Star. “Arthritis and other general side effects of getting old.
Moon just sighed at that. “I was afraid of that. Old age is one of those things that magic can’t fix, only soothe. I know a few spells that will make his time left more barrable, but you might want to seriously consider putting him down.”
Star stamped her foot at that. “No! I refuse to accept that there is nothing I can do to help my friend in her time of need!”
“Star-“
“End Call.”
The mirror turned cut from Moon and became a mirror again.
“Call Lekmet.”
Marco tried again to put a hand on her shoulder in a show of support, but Star just waved him off. “I am fine Marco. I just need to fix this.”
The mirror then turned to a picture of a goat man with batwings standing in a hospital.
“Yes Star, what is it?” he then turned to look at Marco. “Hello, Marco.”
Marco just blinked at that. “How did you know who I am?”
He just chuckled. “I am in charge of the magic of life, death, and rebirth. I know everyone’s names. Also, Heckapoo and Omnitraxus Prime are my siblings. Both of them have talked about both of you recently.”
Star just smiled at that. “Sounds great. Now, can you teach me some healing spells? I have a friend whose dog is about to be put down due to how sick he is and I want to save him.”
Lekmet turned to look at Marco who was giving Star a worried look. “The dog is old, that is why he is being put down.”
Lekmet just sighed at that before pulling out a pair of scissors and making a portal to his side, making one appear next to Star and Marco before he hung up.
Star and Marco just turned to look at the portal before he walked in.
“I think the best way to teach you based on what Glosseryck told me about you would be a field trip. Does that sound ok?”
Star smiled and gave him a thumbs-up. “Sounds great!”
Marco shot him a worried look, but Lekmet just shot him a smile and summoned a cue card where Star couldn’t see it.
Trust me, I am going to teach her about how death and endings are just a part of life.
Marco just sighed and stepped forward. “Should I come too?”
He looked at him with a puzzled look before nodding. “Sure, it might make the lesson work better.” He then snapped his fingers and made them all transparent.
“Woah” exclaimed Star, wiggling her hands in front of her as she examined them. She then tried to pass them through each other to see if they were intangible, which they were. She then grew a massive smile. “Cool!”
Lekmet just chuckled at that. “Yes, it is cool. Now, let's get a move on. We will be making 3 stops.”
Scene Change
Between one second and the next, they were in a hospital room at the side of a bald man with a breathing tube in his nose with a woman holding his hand. There were also some nurses around fiddling with some equipment attached to him
“Is he ok?”
Lekmet just smiled. “He is receiving treatment for cancer, but he is responding positively and they just did surgery to remove a tumor.”
He then turned to Star. “For your first lesson, let's start with revealing his physical health aura.”
Star shot him a confused look. “His what?”
Lekmet then turned to look at the man and waved his hand. The woman holding the man's hand suddenly turned into what was best described as an Aurora Borealis in human form.
“This is her physical health aura. Think of each color as a gage for each aspect of his health. The brighter one is, the healthier that part of him is. If you want to use magic to help someone’s health, then you use this first to figure out what is wrong in the first place.”
He then waved his hand again, making the woman’s aura disappear. “There are other versions of the spell that focus on different parts of the person's physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and other types of health.”
He then turned back towards Star. “To make it appear around the man, point the wand at him and say ‘aura of physical health.’ Don’t worry about them seeing it. the only ones that can see the aura are those that cast the spell, are naturally able to see them, or those under a spell to let them see them.”
Star then did as he asked, making another brilliant cascade of lights appear.
Marco then turned to look at Lekmet. “Did it work?”
“Yes, it did. Now Star, can you tell me what you see that is different from the lights of the women you saw earlier?”
Star just kept staring at the lights in front of her for several seconds before responding.
“some of the colors are dimmer than hers were, and the overall things are dimmer than hers were.”
Lekmet just nodded. “Advanced healing magic like what you want to learn involves looking at these colors and trying to increase the brightness of them without dimming any of the others. Simpler spells for things like healing cuts and mending bones also need this to a degree, but not as much.
“For now, let's point at him and say “Healer Helper.”
Star did as he asked, causing one of the colors, a dark blue, to be outlined. It was also the dimmest of the colors there.
“Healer Helper shows you which color is the dimmest, and warns you when the other colors are getting dimmer. After you identify the color you want to brighten with the second spell, point your wand at the person and say ‘physical illumination’ before saying the exact kind of color you want to increase the brightness of.”
Marco then raised his hand. “I am an artist’s son, so how specific do we have to be when saying the color name?”
Lekmet then reached into his robes and pulled out a large book before opening it up and showing a page with the color specified as Cerulean Blue and what its intensity meant in multiple different auras.
Stat just looked at the book like it would bite her. “Please tell me I don’t need to memorize this.”
Lekmet just laughed. “Don’t worry, there is a copy in the Butterfly Royal Library for you to reference when you want to do this kind of magic. For now, let's just heal this man.”
Star then pointed her wand at him before Lekmet put his hand on her arm. “When the Healer Helper spell tells you to stop, stop the healing spell. If a color gets too bright, it can make the other colors dimmer and cause other health issues.”
Star nodded before turning to the man. “Physical Illumination Cerulean Blue.”
The specified light then began to slightly brighten as Star kept the wand pointed at him. His monitors began to perk up, as well as the man himself.
“Stop Healing”
Star cut off the light in shock from the warning sound coming from the aura, leaving the light of the man double the brightness it was before, but still below what the woman’s was.
Lekmet was just grinning at Star’s reaction. “I love seeing a healer's first reaction to the Healers Helper warning.”
Star and Marco both shot him dirty looks before Star asked a question. “Why couldn't I make it go brighter?”
“Like I said, if the light got too bright, then his other lights would become too dim. With the poor shape he was in from the cancer and treatments, he could only take so much before your healing could kill him.”
He then examined the other colors intently. “It takes a lot of experience to know how bright you can make a color without affecting the others, which is why I had you cast that helper spell earlier.”
Star looked slightly disappointed but was relieved when the Nurses gave each other hopeful and happy expressions on the readouts.
“But he will get better, right?”
Lekmet nodded. “You did all you could with magic here. Now, we have another stop to make.”
Scene change
The group then appeared in front of an old man in a nursing home sitting in a chair and reading a book.
“Let me guess, use the aura spell and helper spell before increasing the color of the brightnesses again?”
Lekmet just nodded. Star then did the mentioned spells but was surprised by the results.
The man's aura was very dim, and the helper spell was instead highlighting one of the brighter colors.
“Um, Lekmet? Did I do something wrong with either of the spells?”
Lekmet just shook his head. “No Star, this man is in such bad condition that there is nothing magic can do to help him be better without causing further complications in other areas. The color your helper is highlighting is already being posted by the pain medication he is on, which is why it is already so high.”
Star just looked shocked at that. “What! But this is magic! How can it not be able to do anything for him?”
Lekmet just sighed. “Star, if there is anything the multiple disasters you and Marco have been involved with over the past months should have taught you, it is that magic can’t solve all your problems. Sometimes there is nothing you can do to help someone.”
Star looked downcast at that, but then Marco held her hand in support. “Hay Star, don’t worry. Just because you can’t make him better doesn’t mean you can’t make him more comfortable. I think your magic can help him with his pain better than the medication can, and with fewer side effects as well.”
Lekmet nodded at that. “Exactly Marco. That is what the helper spell is showing.”
Star looked up at Lekmet with a depressed look before casting the ‘physical illumination’ spell. The light’s illumination level didn’t change, but the spell kept going for a few seconds.
“Ok, I am sure something is going on now.”
“The spell is just purging the medication from his system and simulating the effects. Give it time and cut it off when the warn-“
“Stop Healing”
Star jumped again, almost dropping her wand. Luckily she held onto it and was able to stop the spell.
The light intensity hadn't changed at all despite the spell being cast, but a few of the other lights got a little brighter.
“See? He might not notice it now, but if you give him some time he will notice and be able to enjoy his life a little better than before.”
Star lit up at that and then noticed that another light was highlighted and pointed to it.
“Sometimes you can increase multiple lights in a single healing session. Go ahead, keep doing this until the helper stops telling you to heal things.”
Star did that, increasing a few other colors before it stopped highlighting colors to heal.
“Now, we have one last stop to make. And this time, we will be visible and tangible.”
Scene Change
The last stop was Jackie’s house, causing Jackie to almost drop her plate when the three popped into existence in front of her.
“WHAT THE? Oh, it's you two. Who’s the friend.”
Lekmet held out his hand. “Hello Jackie, I am Lekmet, the MHC member in charge of the magic of life, death, and rebirth. I was just showing Star how to cast healing spells and she was about to try on Max, with your permission of course.”
Jackie scrunched up her face in worry. “What would this entail?”
Star then turned towards Marco and cast the ‘physical aura’ and ‘helper’ spell on Marco before buffing the lowest color for a few seconds and stopping when the warning went off.
“That is exactly what would happen to Max. Ok?”
Marco shot Star an annoyed look at being used as a guinea pig without being asked but nodded to Jackie all the same.
“Ok then, but please don’t hurt him, or turn him into a monster, or worse.”
Star nodded before casting the two spells on Max.
His aura was like that of the old man, with the same color highlighted but a lot dimmer.
Star increased the brightness of it until the warning went off, then increased a few others a little before the helper spell gave an all-clear. She then turned to look at Jackie.
“Ok, that’s the most I can do.” She then turned to look at Lekmet. “Can you do anything else to help him?”
He shook his head. “Sorry, anything else I would be willing to contribute would only be slightly better than what you did.”
“What do you mean by ‘willing to contribute?’”
Lekmet looked at Marco before sighing.
“I have powerful healing abilities that can restore people to their prime, but it is a finite resource tied to my life force. After I use it all up, I would die”
Everyone in the room looked at him in shock. Star was the first to find her voice. “But the MHC is immortal! You guys can’t die!”
He chuckled at that. “You are right, just because I die doesn’t mean I die. Think of me like the phoenix with a bit of ‘The Doctor’ mixed in. I die and am then reborn from the ashes as a baby with my powers at their peak. I can recall memories of my past lives with a lot of effort, but for all intents and purposes, I die and am replaced by a new person with their personality.”
The group didn’t stop looking at him in shock after hearing this. It was Marco this time that asked the question. “How much time do you have left”
He just shrugged. “Depends on how much I have to heal. I am at 12% now, and healing Max back to full would drop me to 10%. As nice a dog as he is, turbulent things are going on and I need to conserve my healing for any massive battles or world-shattering events. I also don’t want to leave the MHC down a member until I get out of diapers.”
He then put a hand on Jackie’s shoulder. “I might not be willing to completely heal him, but I can help him die peacefully. I have several spells that can painlessly let you pass over to the afterlife while seeing visions that make you happy.”
“I’ll have to talk to my parents about that, but we might just take you up on that.”
He nodded and looked to Star, who was walking out the front door and sat on the front stairs. He walked over and sat next to her.
“How are you doing Star.”
‘Sigh.’ “I just thought I could prevent Jackie from losing her dog like I lost-“ she then froze up before continuing. “-something I cared about.”
Lekmet sighed at that. “Star, sometimes things just end, and there is we can do but accept it.”
“Marco already said that.”
He just laughed at that. “Maybe, but did he continue? Endings aren’t always a bad thing. Sure it stinks when the amusement park closes and you have to go home, but all that means is that you can go to the local playground with your friends and hang out with them. Summer ending is always sad, but it means you get to spend time doing things in school you enjoy.”
He then put an arm around Star. “It might stink that someone you love isn’t around anymore, but that doesn’t mean you lost them forever. As long as you remember them and keep them in your heart, they are never gone. There are whole holidays that revolve around this idea.”
Star smiled at that. “Thanks, Lekmet.”
“No problem Star.” He then stood up. “If you have time tomorrow, I can show you a few more healing spells for things like broken bones, burns, and other things.”
She smiled at that. “I would love that.”
Wow, this got away from me. Anyway, I decided to give Lekmet a dedicated episode so we can get to know him and feel the pain when he dies. As Pair of Ramblers (https://www.youtube.com/@pairoframblers3497/videos) said, it’s hard to feel sad about someone dying if you don’t know them. In the show he was just a goat man that Rhomulus cared about that just hung around and healed people before dying. With this, we can care about his death.
The “he dies a bit every time he uses his power” is something the Wiki said was in the “Star and Marco Guide”, but I didn’t see it in either of my copies. I decided to keep it because the idea of the representation in charge of life and death going through a phoenix-style rebirth with a Doctor Who regeneration added was too good an idea to pass up.
As for the healing spell, the only one we see in SVTFOE is the one that turns your arm into a tentacle that tries to take you over. The healing system I put here is a little rough, but I like the idea of manipulating the colors of the aura to affect different parts of physical health. Things like mending broken bones and burns would be the kind of things that have their own simpler spells to cast because of how common they are, but the more complicated it gets, the more you have to manipulate the colors. I might put a more complete version of this out later.
I decided for my New Year's Resolution to do one fanfic chapter a week for all of 2024. Who knows how long I will be able to keep this up, but next week's fanfic chapter is up on my Patreon. This is also being posted on Fanfic.com, AO3, and Tumbler.

Sooooo I draw Moe Butterfly she is know as the first queen of mewni. but, mewnis ancient past refuses this, in fact she found the wand after the storm had stopped next to the skeletal remains of a long ago queen who is she we will never know only future generations will find out the ancient history of mewni and the end of the original Butterfly family and what lead to the downfall of civilisation….
Also the reason for cheek emblems with the butterfly family is because the wand bonded with moe allowed the magic to be like apart if there dna so in the Cannon SVTFOE Festiva gets cheek emblems as the magic bonded with her two making the second line of butterfly’s with actually knowing it whereas in this universe Festiva is related to eclipsa as eclipsa is her great grandmother in this au but there is a lot more for me to cover in another post

ok. it's time. time for me to post my opinions on the svtfoe finale. and svtfoe as a whole but that's kind of a given considering that it's the finale.
so, where to start? I think I'm gonna start by explaining what svtfoe is. it's an animated disney show which parodies both magical girl and disney princess tropes, as well as being a reverse isekai which is always nice. great premise, though its execution in season 1 is meh at best, but honestly that's just personal taste and season 1 does a great job introducing us to the three core characters so I see no reason to complain. really the only reason to point out that season 1 was kinda meh is to counter people implying that the show declined as it went on, when in fact it was always of ultimately very mixed quality, with most of the worst episodes being in the first half of the show, such as banagic incident, lobster claws, and pizza thing.
anyways, for most of season 1, svtfoe was a thoroughly unremarkable kids show, so who cares. however, throughout seasons 1 and 2, a nice little plot about a genuinely threatening gooey man is the real highlight of the show, rather than the supposed premise of the show, which was a parody isekai. this is irrelevant to my analysis of the finale, but I felt it necessary to point out that centaurworld appears to have stolen svtfoe season 1 and 2's premise. anyways, halfway through season 2, the part of the show I like starts, where the show starts parodizing the fantasy genre in its plot, not just in the mediocre one-off episodes which are more of a magical girl parody than a general parody of the fantasy genre.
this shift completes with the show shifting from reverse isekai to regular isekai, with the show's secondary protagonist, "normal" earth "boy", marco diaz, going to the magical kingdom the show's main protagonist, star comes from. many people mark this as when the show starts getting worse, but like, the show was really not good at doing the reverse isekai stuff, and all of its best episodes function as just a normal isekai, so I feel like this was inevitable. however, another reason people say this is when the show gets worse is that it happens a few episodes after genuinely threatening goo man is defeated, and everyone agrees genuinely threatening goo man is the best villain. I agree that he's the most threatening and well-written, but ultimately all he represents is pure evil, which isn't all that exciting from a thematic perspective, so I actually disagree on this point. the next villain after him is the rightful heir of the monarchy which star is the false heir to, as it is revealed in season 3 that a random peasant was actually placed on the throne a few hundred years ago because some deific entities didn't like the rightful heir being half-monster. I think that this is a very interesting villain thematically, and they manage it well, by portraying her as being more a victim of the MHC(aforementioned deific entities) than as a villain in her own right, and she is defeated by making her into a baby again instead of killing her because she was really only a villain because of her fucked up upbringing. solidly good themes going on here. questioning the validity of the monarchy, showing how many problems bigotry causes, showing the MHC to be just as incompetent as the rest of us, it's good.
the last villain is an actual fascist propped up by the MHC. like, I am not exaggerating, her stated goal in the story is genocide. also she was introduced as a gag character in season 1 where she already showed off her insane authoritarian tendencies so overall I think she was set up very well. I will also note that in this final season, with a a bunch of fascists as the main antagonists, the show had a very rushed production schedule. you may be getting SU flashbacks. anyways, this time they solve the fascism by killing the MHC who are responsible for it, and abolishing the monarchy which allowed it to fester, which sounds to me like exactly what fans would want, considering how they reacted to the SU finale. and, to be fair, I liked both this and the SU finale, because SU is a show about redemption so of course the fascists would get redeemed and also the fascists were just a metaphor for other less reprehensible stuff but this is not a post about the SU finale because the SU finale was actually mediocre and I don't care if people hate it. anyways, the response to the svtfoe finale was actually worse than the SU finale. but to explain why, I need to explain several things which were going on in the background of the show, for context.
so, the elephant in the room is the thing svtfoe was most infamous for prior to the finale. the love polyhedron. some people call it marco's harem, but it technically had two focal points in both star and marco, and polyhedron is a funny word, so I call it the love polyhedron. ever since season 1, it was blatantly obvious that the female lead, star, and the "male" lead, marco, would get together by the end of the show, and acting like this was every possible to not happen is wishful thinking, mainly because disney wouldn't allow it. also, unlike most "take the male lead and female lead and push them together" ships, starco appears to have had some actual chemistry(I can't tell, my criterion for shipping things is if it would spite people I dislike), to the point where it was actually one of the more popular ships for the show. however, because this trope is stupid, they obviously can't just have them mutually fall in love early on and then start dating in season 1 and not have any issues for the rest of the show. no, we need rivals! first rival: tom, star's ex, who is flirting with marco 90% of the time he's on screen and is pretty much the third main character to the show and a romantic rival and potential love interest to both of them. I think this is funny. second rival: jackie, marco's childhood crush who he starts dating, but it doesn't work out and also she is dating a girl in the last season so there are implications there. honestly, I think it was well done, but I do think jackie probably deserved more screen time since she's the most emotionally intelligent character in the show. other rivals: heckapoo, who really isn't treated as a rival and actually belongs in like two other sections of this post so I'll discuss her later. janna, who is also not treated like a rival but she does pretend to have a crush on marco(it actually is canon that her crush on marco is fake) and also flirts with star sometimes so I'm counting her here, and she's not actually that important other than that everyone loves her and is correct to do so. kelly, who marco briefly dates, and also she has an ex of her own and honestly there's not much to say about her other than what the fuck were they thinking when they wrote goblin dogs. I think that's everyone. anyways, the point is, this was stupid.
next elephant in the room is the fact that marco is written with a lot of subtext implying he's trans(which was intentional, one of the storyboards features him wearing a trans flag dress which uh couldn't actually be more intentional). like, he regularly dresses up as a girl, and likes doing so, which means nothing. however, when dressed as a girl, he uses she/her pronouns most of the time, and also refers to himself as a girl, and also, once again, likes doing this. personally I headcanon him has genderfluid, because of the neverzone, a dimension where he is in his 30s and looks like an over-the-top action movie protagonist and is dating hekapoo. like, you could argue that was overcompensating, but he seems genuinely distraught when he loses his abs and genuinely enjoys it whenever he goes to the neverzone so I think he also likes the idea of being a manly man so genderfluid it is. and like, I'm pretty sure they could not have included more subtext implying that he's trans without disney striking it down. like disney would not allow the male lead of one of their shows have his gender transed. so, I count this as a win.
next up, back to the love polyhedron, focusing on the non-stupid parts of it: star, marco, and tom. well also jackie wasn't stupid, but not relevant to this subject. first, let's talk about marco and tom. they're constantly flirting, and their relationship is consistently framed as romantic. I could provide evidence for this, but I don't need to, because if you've watched the show, you know this to be the case. next, let's talk about star and tom. tom is introduced as star's ex, and kind of a jerk. however, for stupid reasons, they start dating again in early season 3. he goes through a character arc, and stops being a jerk, and ultimately his relationship with star is perfectly fine, with him just being a bit clingy at times. when they break up, it's on perfectly amiable terms, and the reason is basically because tom knows that starco is inevitable and star obviously can't have two boyfriends. now I shall present the following screenshot from the show, which takes place while star and tom are dating:
Tumblr media
next up, we need to talk about starco. like, there is more to their relationship than "she's a girl, disney is somehow under the impression that he's a boy, so they kinda have to get together". to start off with, the two have really good chemistry in season 1, and do start to develop feelings for each other, and honestly it works perfectly fine. then tom shows up, and tries to use some ancient magic thing to make him and star fated to fall in love, but marco ends up making the magic target him and star instead. this, if never addressed again, would make this ship the stupidest thing imaginable. however, it is addressed again. after three seasons of love polyhedron shenanigans, they finally realize that this whole stupid disaster of a situation is because they're both in love, and in fact that all their previous relationships may have in fact been ruined by that stupid ancient magic making them fated to fall in love. so, naturally, the find a way to undo the magic, and it works. tada! no longer fated to fall in love in-universe. this is actually very good thematically, as it makes clear that being "fated to fall in love", if it were real, would be a bad thing and a very stupid reason to start dating. of course, they still both had mutual feelings for each other, and at this point have already dated and broken up with all other potential partners(well tom's still there but he's chill and breaks up so that star can have her disney-enforced maximum of one boyfriend), so in the finale, star and marco start dating, and it's chill, and everyone liked it.
just kidding, this is probably the most objectional part of the finale! like, people have worse complaints, but this is the worst complaint people have about the finale which actually makes sense, which is why I devoted so much time to it, and also am addressing it first. like yeah, in a perfect world, tom, marco, and star would all be dating, and marco would be even more canonically trans than he already is, but we don't live in a perfect world so unfortunately we're just left with a giant pile of subtext, which we're gonna have to settle with. though honestly, I think that if svtfoe had aired a few years later, stomco would be treated as canon, similar to how sashannarcy is in the amphibia fandom. but alas, the svtfoe finale killed the fandom a couple years too early for polyamorous ships to become mainstream. so, anyways, the point is, sure it was annoying to have canon starco in the finale, but starco was fine, and tom is still there so he can just pop in as soon as canon ends and solve the issue. so, overall, biggest issue with the finale, but not that big of an issue. now let's get into with the issues with the finale which caused the fandom to die, and are all incredibly stupid.
so, I know that implied I wouldn't get into another tangent, but I would like to establish something important before I get into the next part: star's spells don't count as people. because if they did, star would have major moral issues long before the finale. like, at absolute best, star would be doing the moral equivalent of harry potter's house elves, if her spells are people, and I think most people here can agree that is not a morally enviable position. there are two ways to think of the spell episodes then, that are consistent with this premise. the first is that they are non-canon, which is fine, other episodes are also probably non-canon. the second explanation is that the spells are just extensions of star, which also works, considering that she created them, and they all kind of act like her. both of these make significantly more sense than the spells being people who deserve to be treated fairly by star, since she does not ever treat them fairly, and is never implied to have to treat them fairly.
now it's time to get back to the finale, and explain what happened in it, specifically. star destroyed "the magic". this very obviously is not all magic in the multiverse, as pony head is still floating, tom is still a demon, dragoncycles still exist, etc. this refers specifically to the magic of glossaryck, and his creations, the MHC, and the royal magic wand. also, a few horses that were lying around in the realm of magic. anyways, in this show, magic is very clearly a metaphor for authoritarianism. the royal magic wand is the sign of the monarchy, and the MHC prop up a fascist for basically no reason. glossaryck is harder to fit into this metaphor, but he does cooperate with toffee so I don't think it's reasonable to call him morally righteous. so, when star destroys the magic, she kills like half a dozen people, most of whom were actively supporting a genocide, and a few horses. and yet, most fans of svtfoe call this a magic genocide, and cite it as the main reason the finale is awful. they argue that all magical creatures are dead, which is provably false, pony head is alive and well. they argue that star killed the spells, but star was already using the spells as living weapons so if you care about the rights of spells, there were issues before this. the horses dying is sad, but the horses were already dying because the evil horse was killing them, and also I think that we can all agree that killing a few horses to stop a literal genocide is acceptable. and sure, people argue that star could have defeated mina(the fascist propped up the MHC) and her solarian warriors without destroying the magic, but the show does all but say "no, the only way to stop her is to destroy the magic". like, literally the entire supporting cast of the show get an uncurable death curse in an attempt to defeat just one solarian warrior, and mina has hundreds of them. and even if you do think that it would be worth waging a hopeless war to stop them, it wouldn't even stop the genocide, becuase the show went and said "hey, the solarian warriors have all the monsters right here. they are currently pushing them off a cliff. if you do not stop them in the next 10 minutes they are going to commit genocide" which was kind of blunt but apparently necessary since some people still don't get that destroying the magic was clearly set up as the only solution to this.
furthermore, destroying the magic was a thematically appropriate way to resolve an antagonist who represented fascism. like, the alternative would probably have been dealing with all the solarians somehow, and sticking marco and star as king and queen since moon obviously fucked up, or alternatively eclipsa and globgor since they're the rightful rulers and also represent unity between monsters and mewmans, the former of which is obviously stupid, and the latter of which is literally what caused this mess and also it would imply the monarchy is legitimate, which is literally the same argument the solarian warriors were making, and one which has been thoroughly disproven by the show. like, I feel like we can all agree that the solution to fascism is not removing the "bad guys" in charge of the authoritarian system and replacing them with "good guys"(also something refuted by svtfoe with moon, the supposed "good guy" also helping prop up the fascist), it's to dismantle the authoritarian system entirely. and magic is a metaphor for that system in svtfoe. so yeah, svtfoe did good on that front. and some people do argue that moon didn't face enough consequences for her actions, but firstly, she did in fact get deposed from the throne and lost what little respect her daughter had for her, which is solidly something, and secondly, a kids tv show can't have the main character kill her own mother. honestly killing the rest of the MHC, many of whom were likable characters, was already kinda pushing it. oh, and thirdly, retributive justice is bad actually. the MHC had to die because they were actively causing genocide. the genocide attempt has been thwarted now, so no need to kill anyone else. not to mention that moon wasn't really on board with genocide, she just thought the people calling for genocide wouldn't really do genocide, which sounds stupid until you look into literally any real-world politics. many people argue that the show should have actually shown the consequences of all this instead of just showing the fascists running off and then ending the show, but like, that wouldn't be interesting, even if done correctly, and significantly more likely than doing it correctly would be them propping up a consitutional monarchy with star/marco or eclipsa/globgor as the rulers and that would be really stupid.
now, there's one last thing which the svtfoe finale does that people have problems with. you see, svtfoe takes place in a multiverse. and the only way of travelling between dimensions is through dimensional scissors, which work via hekapoo, a member of MHC, and thus would stop working with the destruction of magic. this is an issue for obvious reasons. sure, they could have just said "haha fuck you none of the characters can ever see each other again" like most isekais do when they end, but that sucks, even when thematically appropriate, and this is not a case where that is thematically appropriate. so, there are several solutions to this. one is to just have the scissors keep working. this would have been stupid, as it contradicts pre-established lore, but ultimately would have been fine. another is to have hekapoo live, since she was solidly the most sympathetic member of the MHC, and neverzone-marco's girlfriend. however, that would both contradict the pre-established lore, and also soften the blow of everything, since even if hekapoo may have been the nicest of the MHC, and wasn't fully on board with plan "prop up a fascist for no reason", she also didn't really try to stop that plan, and also she was fully on board with dying, since she was there when star came up with the plan to destroy the magic. however, they instead did a solution I think is actually good. they made it so when magic was destroyed, all the dimensions got cleaved together, merging into one super-dimension. I know WoG says it was just earth and mewni, but the dragoncycles actively disprove this. WoG also says it was the power of love that did this, and it's implied that it was, and honestly that's a fine solution even if the power of love hasn't existed in this magic system thus far since 1. starco's love for each other was pretty well established and 2. there were presumably other people in love who would have been separated across dimensions. like, it's a perfectly workable solution when the magic system dug the show into a corner regarding this. people often are like "oh no but merging all the dimensions would cause so much chaos and so many people would die" but like, once again, there was not a better solution here. and not that many people would die, pretty much all dimensions we've been shown except earth are very used to having contact to other dimensions, and could handle it. as for earth, well, I'm sure they can adapt to the new circumstances. like, yeah, I wish they could have had a nice little epilogue showing society adapting to the new circumstances, but the production of the last season was very rushed, so I'm fine with them leaving that up to audience interpretation, especially since, once again, they would have done that badly considering that disney has opinions on the monarchy. and the only reason leaving what they didn't have time to put in the show to the audience's interpretation didn't work out is because the audience went ahead and assumed the worst at every possible junction.
now, while I am done defending the finale itself, I feel like it would be remiss for me not to use this as an opportunity to express my theory as to how the cosmology of the svtfoe universe works. so, let's circle back to how the power of love was a stupid explanation for the dimensions getting cleaved together. because you see, "cleave" is a funny word. you can cleave something together, but you can also cleave something apart. this is something pointed out by glossaryck, the most powerful character in svtfoe, a while before the events of the finale, which is, by the way, titled "Cleaved". now, glossaryck is implied to have created magic, and canonically stated to have created hekapoo, who allows for travel between dimensions. this means that prior to glossaryck, there was no travel between dimensions. however, as previously mentioned, most dimensions not only are used to multiversal travel, but rely on it. like, quest buy is an entire dimension which is just a store, that obviously can't work unless there's people coming from outside the store to buy stuff. same basic idea for the bounce lounge, and other party dimensions. now, one explanation is obviously that these dimensions were empty, or otherwise had something else in them, until they were made into what they now are after the advent of dimensional scissors, but my theory feels more elegant than that. before I reveal my theory, I would like to give one more piece of evidence. the realm of magic, which was created by glossaryck, seems to have a portal to every dimension. my theory is that when glossaryck created magic, there was only one dimension, which he cleaved apart, creating the realm of magic in the gaps between the dimensions. and thus, of course all the dimensions would be cleaved back together when magic is destroyed.
oh one last thing, shout out to @xidnaf's anarchist reading of the finale, which is what got me to consider that maybe the reddit hivemind was wrong about the finale being bad, and also where I borrowed a lot of my stuff about how destroying magic is cool and good thematically from, and also this one random youtube video which I found on accident which also makes some bad points but it is where I got a lot of stuff on how the show presents destroying magic as being the only solution from.
ok i think that's everything
