So I was inspired by the Sugar Valentine and Chasing ghosts posts by @stargazer-sims to revisit my own Sims bands because I miss them, so here is the first. Sweet Cacophony, the literal first band I created with The Sims! Their 3 and 4 versions are pictured above! They are from my story Love Drunk which I wrote back in 2013 on Blogger and illustrated with The Sims 3, I did a sequel too called Love Drunk 2.0 which followed the lives of the band and their partners two decades later, along with their children who were all mostly grown up and making questionable life decisions of their own. I eventually rebooted it with The Sims 4 but it was getting pretty dark so I kinda shelved it for a while. I might go back to it but we’ll see, I might even start fresh and try to be more cheery and upbeat lol. Anyway, a bit about the band!
So the rock band Sweet Cacophony was originally called Deadly Nightshade. It comprised of four young men who had been friends since high school; Dexter Maloney (lead vocals/guitar), Ashton Maloney (drums), Andrew Mitchell (backing vocals/guitar/bass) and Jeremy Price (piano/keyboard). Jeremy shockingly quit one day and left them without a keyboard player, Dexter could play so he took it on as well as being the lead singer and guitarist but it was a strain for him as he also wrote their songs. Also it has to be noted that the boys at this point still had day jobs; Ash was a firefighter, Dexy was an artist and Drew was basically a mad scientist who invented things for clients and sold them for a fortune. When Jeremy left, he took their name with him, Dexter was furious as they had gigs booked all over as Deadly Nightshade which Jeremy also stole leaving them in a crappy situation where they would turn up for a gig and were turned away because the “real band” with Jeremy as the front man had already arrived. It was the girl Dexy was madly in love with, Evelyn “Lainie” Robertson, who coined the phrase “sweet cacophony” when describing their practice sessions in their tiny flat and Dexy loved it so much that he made it their new name. Eventually, and by complete accident, the band took on Lainie’s best friend Roxanne Harmon as their new keyboard player and their rise to fame was almost instantaneous! Within months they were a global sensation and toured the world, had number one albums every time they were released and had their name in lights all over.
Music runs in the family as Dexter and Lainie’s youngest son Damon formed a band of his own called Fallen Angels with his cousin (Ashton’s son) James and Roxanne’s son Rory Hayes. Dexter and Lainie’s granddaughter Jazmine, affectionately known by her grandpa Dexy as Jazzy, becomes a solo artist to rival Taylor Swift using the stage name Jazzy in honour of her favourite grandfather, but that’s just a story in my head as I never got there in the real story. Jazzy is the daughter of Keira Maloney (Dexter & Lainie’s eldest child) and Joshua Hayes (Roxanne & Matthew Hayes’ eldest child) who only fell in love when they were twenty and eighteen respectively. Josh had loved Keira all of his life but she teased him for being a little bit overweight as a child, calling him “chubby chops” which upset him. Keira meant it affectionately and never realised until they got together just how much it had hurt Josh, she never called him that again.
So that’s just a little bit about the band, they are very dear to me and I have carried them for ten years, Dexter is probably my favourite OC ever!

It was a relatively tame bachelorette party since there's no bar in town. Kennedy and Kayla did battle it out over who would get the oven to bake their cake.

Just realized that the measurement of how fucked up a warrior behaves is essentially just how much she's willing to kill her comrades without a good reason (those being rebellion and awakening).
We've seen Ophelia and Roxanne do it for their own twisted desires (Ophelia leaning more on the "reliving trauma in a fucked up way" side but still) and they're both considered to be antagonists and wicked in their behavior. But that doesn't come as a surprise when you remember what Rafutera said to Limt.
Tumblr media
It's literally empathy, perhaps a bit stronger than the one regular humans feel because of yoki and subconscious harmonization of energy but at the end of the day it's simply being able to understand the feelings of another. And for warriors that is both fascinating and beautiful. Think about it, these women spend most of their lives apart from each other, on isolated territories, rarely crossing paths with each other and when they do meet in groups there's in-flighting more often than not.
Unlike the two mentioned above, most others choose to spare the lives of their sisters in arms: Teresa with all of the warriors who came after her (let's be real if she wanted to she could've disposed of them all without a sweat), Rafaela with Ilena, Galatea with Clare and later on Clarice (and Miata) with Galatea (though that one took some convincing).
The most obvious one however is Miria and just how much she values the lives of her fellow warriors and how much, in turn, they value her. I think that it's just so beautiful how most of them crave these connections with each other and how much they understand that at the end of the day they're all victims of the organization. It's those very connections that help them stay human and true to themselves (Clare and Teresa, Clare and Jean, Deneve reeling Miria in with her speech of how much she's appreciated by those around her, etc).

Musical Theatre Moments I think about a lot
Fra Fee as Will in The Clockmakers Daughter hitting that high note in Fear & Whispers
The lyrics “Why me, what’s your plan? I can’t help her, no one can. I liked my memories as they were but now I’ll leave remembering her.” from the song Why God Why in Miss Saigon, but specifically when it’s Alastair Brammer
The reprise of Do You Hear The People Sing at the end of Les Mis. The fade in gives me full body chills every single time.
Not to bring up The Clockmakers Daughter again, but when Will says “I’ll be waiting.” at the end I cry a little.
THE END OF WAIT FOR ME FROM HADESTOWN UGH WITH THE LIGHTING AND EVERYTHING ITS SO GOOD
When I saw Hamilton during Hurricane they were throwing chairs and shit and then all at once everyone caught the chairs and some people were up on the walk thing and so the chairs were dangling and looked like they were floating, and I have never stopped thinking about that.
seeing Wicked was a big moment for me, but specifically As Long As Your Mine. That’s a core memory guys.
Anatole singing “All I care for is gaiety and women and there’s no dishonor in that.” in Natasha, Pierre, and The Great Comet of 1812 lives in my head rent free in my mind
We Raise Our Cups from Hadestown. That’s it. Just the whole song.
In Les Mis when they spin the barricade and Enjolras is dead on the other side. I just… I cant talk about it.
Dolokovs little “A letter which I composed” again from Natasha Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812.
AARON TVEIT AS FIERRO IN WICKED. I KNOW THATS NOT A MOMENT BUT EVERY MOMENT IS IN MY MIND ALWAYS.
This is actually from the Les Mis 2012 movie but when Marius threatens to blow up the barricade and Combeferre says “My life is not yours to risk Marius!” actually just combeferre in the movie as a whole Killian Donnelly slayed that role he ate and left no crumbs.
Luke’s section in The Last Day of Summer in The Lightning Thief. Y’all know the one. The mini reprise of Good Kid ugh im already a Luke sympathizer (mostly) and y’all hit me with that.
In Heart Of Stone from Six when Jane is singing the king notes and everyone’s singing behind her again another moment that gives me full body chills
the entirety of When I Grow Up from Matilda
AARON TVEIT SINGING BOTH EL TANGO DE ROXANNE AND CRAZY ROLLING IN MOULIN ROUGE
Just Aaron Tveit in general is on my mind most of the time
In Natasha Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 when Anatole is singing his Letter and everyone is just singing “a love letter” in the background it’s my favorite. That and everyone harmonizing when he sings “Natalie Natalie Natalie.”
THE HARMONIES IN OPENING UP FROM WAITRESS
The harmony in Your Song from Moulin Rouge
Not to be basic but when they sing “the orphanage” in Who Live Who Dies Who Tells Your Story from Hamilton, that’s yet again one that gives me chills
IM EDITING THIS POST TO ADD THIS I CANT BELIEVE I FORGOT BUT IN EMPTY CHAIRS AND EMPTY TABLES WHEN LES AMIS WALK BACK ON STAGE AND BLOW OUT THE CANDLES LEFT FOR THEM IN TURNING UGH ITS SUCH A POWERFUL MOMENT
there’s so many more but this list is already so long

So the game makes a point that Roxanne's contributions and innovations have been overwritten and you don't even realize that her work touches every aspect of the Vandelay campus- every track employs her energy production like the hydroelectricity running through the underside of several levels, the geothermal energy of the volcanoes during the R & D tracks, the steam power likely also from the heat of the lava vents, the biofuel of the trash compactors and composting in many bot models, and it even theoretically employs sonic energy thanks to details like the vacuum tube amps and the harmonic fields which is

Also if anyone is wondering MY headcanon is that roxanne's implant is used to remotely control the campus because it activates the harmonic barrier and also when she's under the control of spectra the lights in her office are red and when she's back to her normal self they're blue. So there.

love never dies should've had a jealousy ballad a la el tango de roxanne. would've significantly improved the show if erik was creeping on raoul & christine on their way into like rehearsals or whatever & raoul's trying to be a good husband both just bc he's raoul & maybe also bc of the bet & then after he drops her off, raoul's watching in secret christine & erik work together. & them maybe raoul harmonizes w meg who is watching the same scene

I found the best Christian
I'm here to settle the debate on who is the best Christian in Moulin Rouge, you're welcome.
so I've definitely been here for a while, the movie has been my favourite for almost a decade now at this point and I lost my shit when I found out about the musical, naturally I'm an expert and completely correct (there is a tldr)
my favourite Christian for a long time was Ewan McGregor when it comes to the overall picture, which is pretty basic ngl, but he just had the right amount of stupid retriever boy and good voice. however the original obviously has issues with racism/orientalism etc. when it comes to vocal performance Aaron Tveit takes the cake, but he's way too old/mature for my personal likings. all the other ones I've seen were great too (looking at you Muscato stannies), sure but none of them did it like it was supposed to be done.
BUT NOW, yesterday I went to the show in Cologne (with my princess @uncooldotcom ) which was truly spectacular, I've been looking forward to it for months. Still I was a little disappointed because the main Christian is Riccardo Greco and idk he's giving everything but Christian I'm sorry. Well we didn't see Greco though, because his understudy Markus Fetter went on and let me tell you he's the one.
From the moment he went on he was smilling from one ear to another, eyes glistening, truly no thought behind these eyes golden retriever vibe. He had all of Ewan's childishness/excitement. Young, a bit hunky, but a short king, clumsy and all, not a single care in the world. Even when he was not the centre of the scene he never snapped out of that role. When the betrayal hit he still stayed in character, boyish and still not quite understanding of what's happening before his eyes. The rage and the anger seemed so genuine and not malicious like I've seen so many times in the musical adaptation. He didn't seem old and bitter when his heart got broken, he honestly just seemed like a confused kid AND THAT'S HOW IT HAS TO BE.
(Satine was also amazing really, played by Shanna Slaap (also an understudy), it gave raw and seasoned queen, conceal don't feel etc. I will worship her until the end. She was the perfect grumpy black cat match to the bubbly retriever boy)
And don't get me started on the voice, the range! at first it was all clear and angelic like his whole look and then as the tragedy went on it grew more raspy. Satine and him harmonized perfectly, not overpowering one another and they both filled the theatre easily. Since the whole thing was in german too I thought it would be challenging because of the lyrics, but my man really made all the songs his own, no cringy dub, I know it's hard to believe. needless to say the crescendos in "el tango del Roxanne" were the best I've ever heard, it had low notes, high notes, crisp sounds and raspy sounds, perfect enunciation despite the volume or the choreography. I'd be happy listening to that and nothing else until I die. everything was so sincere so unknowing, so aaaaaaaa (I will not stop talking about it for months) (also I don't think he could be more different irl... bbgirl definitely)
tldr: Christians understudy in Cologne was the perfect characterization and vocalisation of Christian (stupid, happy, boyish, honestly angelic, golden retriever) and I have literally one person in the entire world to talk about it, no cast recording, no way to see it again so I'm writing essays on tumblr to cope with the frustration :)
(here's a picture of them from Shanna's and Markus' story for proof)

TAMERA MOWRY-HOUSLEY, CHELSEA HOBBS, ROGER CROSS AND ANDREW J. HAMPTON TAKE THE STAGE IN ‘DREAM MOMS’ A NEW, ORIGINAL MOVIE PREMIERING MAY 13, ON HALLMARK CHANNEL
STUDIO CITY, CA –– April 19, 2023 – Tamera Mowry-Housley (“Inventing the Christmas Prince,” “Girlfriendship”), Chelsea Hobbs (“The Holiday Sitter,” “The Picture of Christmas”) Roger Cross (“A Snowy Day in Oakland,” “The Murdoch Mysteries”) and Andrew J. Hampton (“Blockbuster,” “So Help Me Todd”) star in “Dream Moms,” a new, original movie premiering Saturday May 13 (8 p.m. ET/PT), on Hallmark Channel. The movie also launches Hallmark’s “Make Her Mark” Women’s Directing Program.
Mowry-Housley is given the opportunity to show off her vocal talents and performs “Dream That Dream,” “Bring it Back” and “So Right,” three original songs that were written expressly for the movie.
Danielle (Mowry-Housley), a one-time off-Broadway performer and former backup singer, and Claire (Hobbs), a once-aspiring dancer, both had dreams of making it to the Broadway stage. Many failed auditions and years later, Danielle is married Mark (Cross), a successful lawyer, and has a ballerina daughter, who is positioned for NYC ballet, living in the Upper East Side. Claire is a single mother raising two sons and working as a bookkeeper in the Garment District. Now consumed with motherhood, they no longer have time for themselves and have deferred their own dreams. Danielle’s brother RJ (Hampton) introduces the two after Claire begins taking classes at his dance studio. He is impressed with Claire’s dance technique and wants to bring the women together to compete in a nationally televised talent contest. As they start practicing for the show, Danielle and Claire begin to regain their sense of self and passion they once had as performers. When competing priorities arise with their families and cause them to reconsider, the pair ultimately realizes they need to show up for themselves and set an example to never give up your dreams. They compete in the talent contest and with the support of their families, Danielle and Claire learn it’s never too late to become what or who you want to be.
“Dream Moms” is from Front Street Pictures. Roxanne Messina Captor is executive producer. Charles Cooper serves as producer. Jessica Harmon directed from a script by Jessiline Berry based on a story by Messina Captor.

Fallen Angels (L-R): Rory Hayes, Damon Maloney, James Maloney
Rory is the youngest son of Sweet Cacophony’s keyboard player, Roxanne Harmon. He’s followed in his famous mother’s footsteps and has taken up keyboard for Fallen Angels. Rory is a bit of a loner after having his heart broken at university, he tried to date other girls but couldn’t get that one in particular off his mind. Sasha keeps calling, after telling him he was just a one night stand, and he wants to answer her but he’s scared to get his heart broken by her again. Maybe one day he’ll have the courage to either give it a go or tell her where to go.
Damon is the youngest son of Sweet Cacophony’s lead singer Dexter Maloney. Like John Lennon’s son Julian, Damon was blessed with his father’s voice and his talent for playing multiple instruments. Damon can also write songs like his dad, his older brother Luke may look more like their dad, but Damon got all the talent. Luke was content to be roadie to Sweet Cacophony when he turned sixteen, then he roadied for his brother’s band primarily to keep an eye on Damon. Damey was a wild child as a teen, but as an adult he has turned his life around and even found a girl to settle down with.
James is the eldest son of Sweet Cacophony’s drummer Ashton Maloney. He formed the band with his cousin Damon and their friend Rory because he was bored, but when Mandy Mitchell caught his eye, the band didn’t seem all that important anymore. Having fought Damon to win Mandy over, winning was bittersweet. He and Damon didn’t speak for a while which was tough on the band. Now they’re grown up and Damon has a girl of his own, James can juggle Mandy and the band quite happily. He plays the drums like old dad, all three boys decided to emulate their famous parents and it has paid off so far.
Roxy, Dex and Ash offered to help them get their feet off the ground but they asked to try and do it alone, which they’ve managed to do. Fallen Angels seems to be a success so far, and hey it does help to have the surnames of the most famous rock stars on the planet.

Audio
Had the pleasure of working together once with Abigail and I was able to witness her piece live, Matrices of Vision comes forth from her Masters in Electroacoustic Composition at the KMH in Stockholm. The piece is a sonic interpretation of a data set which details higher education trends in Sweden across seven decades. It is placed in conversation with her collaborator artist-scholar Tiara Roxanne’s revelatory inquiries into AI bias and data colonialism, where the title references Alexander Galloway’s description of atomised points of view “flanking and flooding the world viewed”.
The compositional study uses data aesthetics as a means to critically engage with the social and political mechanisms that surround us. Specifically how categorisation impacts the way we move through the world.
Matrices of Vision expands Toll’s interest in psychoacoustics and tuning as a durational and experiential response to this data, where flutes, strings, vocals and electronics culminate in an emotional sonic meditation. Toll transcribes the data through the Matrices of Vision graphic score, which maps the data with frequencies, or partials, that together make up the harmonic series, an approach which she developed with composer Rebecca Lane. What is reflected in the musical gestures – through glissing, beating and cacophony – is a destabilising of rational systems into harmonic chaos, resulting in what Roxanne describes as a kind of flooding of listening and experiencing, from the body and the spaces that surround the body. —

@relaxvideobar www.relaxvideobar.com (at RELAX Videobar RETRO) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cm5o3QBsgfH/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
