Role of Infrastructure Development in Growth of Australian Economy

The foundation stone for your infrastructure development in Australian was laid soon after independence because the Australian government realized its importance for your economic progress of the nation. Therefore, Railway consultancy , roads, railways and power plants were built and upgraded vigorously along with these years, the us government has been working to further improve infrastructure development investments to also promote the foreign investments in the united states. Many prominent infrastructure development companies offer funds to the progression of infrastructure in every levels of the country to help you inclusive growth. Here are few ways infrastructure development help economic growth. Boosts productivity and GDP growth: Strong Infrastructure promotes trade and economic activities, because the good and services can't be sold and purchased within the absence of facilities like roads, railway, power, etc. It provides the traders, workers, and entrepreneurs with the muse which they can carry out their work and expand their enterprises. Creates and improves occupations: Infrastructure development is directly related to jobs creation. Jobs are manufactured by businessmen and they are able to only build a factory or company if you find sufficient infrastructure set up. Also, a solid infrastructure framework motivates entrepreneurs to build enterprises and execute their innovative ideas which improve job opportunities scenario. Attracts foreign investment: Infrastructure is a key factor that foreign investors take into consideration before purchasing a country. So, when there is already a powerful infrastructure framework in the united kingdom or if infrastructure development has taken place in a rapid pace, international investors feel motivated to infuse capital such economies. Enhances the living standard of individuals: Public facilities and amenities not just increase GDP and national income, in addition they enhance the living standard of those. Healthcare, roads, power, telecommunication, etc. impact people in another way and enhance their quality lifestyle. Strengthens the position of the nation in the international community: A strong infrastructure means a robust and confident economy, bursting with growth prospects, which strengthens the style of the united states within the international community. Many reputable Infrastructure Companies offer infrastructure advisory services, financial advisory services, debt & equity syndication, and much more. at intervals of phase of the infrastructure project, from bidding to implementation. Thus, managing the project cycle and substantially reducing implementation serious amounts of risks. Thus, transforming Australian to your developed economy slowly yet assuredly.

ooc // yapping about a HSR verse
I'm really torn for what I want Yanfei's main thing to be in Honkai Star Rail. I'm leaning towards having her reside in the Xianzhou Loufu (for obviously reasons) as a legal advisor traveling between Aurum Alley and Exalting Sanctum, specifically working with cases dealing with those likely to become Mara-struck within the next few years. My other thought was having her work for the Interastral Peace Corporation in their Business Consolidation Department or Strategic Investment Department. There's so pros and cons to each one but ughhh I want to figure it out sooner than later. I've seen that most people have a HSR verse nowadays which makes would make sense for me since I play it much more than Genshin right now. Anywho, I'll probably figure it out over the weekend :>

(Cups person bs face) "You're a menace and you would have died back there if it wasn't for me."
That's basically the disaster duo in a nutshell anyway
definitely more than six sentence sat(or)sunday!!!
“You know…for someone who was so very set on the idea of me leading the Inquisition way back when, Seeker Pentaghast doesn’t respond very well to my strategic ideas, does she?” Hawke stared thoughtfully at the wall across the corridor as she waited for Varric to join her, pooching her lower lip out and squinting her eyes in a pantomime of confusion. “I wonder why that is.”
“Is that wondering of the rhetorical sort, or are you looking for notes?” Varric yanked the door to the war room shut behind him, shooting Hawke a glance that was just a little too fond to match the deadpan of his voice. “I’ve got a few theories of my own.”
The confusion gave way to a wide, self-satisfied grin, and just like that, they were off! As ever, Hawke simply couldn’t put enough space between herself and the Inquisitor’s advisors quickly enough. “All I’m saying, darling heart, is that she should’ve known! She should’ve known from the very start. It’s not as though we’ve made a secret of my many, many divisive political opinions and thoughts…and yet…every time I’m brought in to consult with the rest of the team on a new and exciting wrinkle, what happens? She starts shouting at me about…blasphemy and morality and…”
“The sanctity of life itself…” he continued for her, his own smirk only widening when she snapped her fingers and pointed his way.
“That’s it!”
“Uh huh. Let me clue you in on something, Hawke. This isn’t Kirkwall.”
She feigned a gasp, pressing both of her hands hard against her chest as they made they way into the sun of the courtyard. “Wait, it isn’t?! You know, I thought I’d noticed a distinct lack of sewer sludge and drying blood in the streets, just of late…”
He soldiered on, as ever. “And since this isn’t Kirkwall, you can’t just use ‘I think we should put all the Templars in a big, deep hole’ as a blanket response for every socio-political issue that pops up.”
Hawke paused just long enough to mull it over…and then scrunched her face up with a shrug. “Pretty sure I can…”
“Okay, know what? C’mere.” He waved his fingers in a curt gesture, beckoning her closer as though they were about to share a secret. When she bent towards him, he took her face in his hands, cupping her cheeks in his palms. “You,” he began, tapping his thumbs affectionately against her cheekbones. “Are a menace.”
If such a thing was possible, Hawke’s grin split even wider, making her eyes gleam like gemstones in the afternoon light. “I love when you use pet names.”
The sigh he heaved then probably would’ve been more convincing had it not been so full of laughter. “And if it wasn’t for me, they would’ve killed you back there. Right on the table. Wouldn’t’ve blinked. ‘So ends the Tale of the Champion, struck down in her prime by the very same Chantry she herself railed so hard against.’ The irony would be palpable, Hawke. People would write songs about it.”
“Mmm…” She pretended to think that over too, pursing her lips in thought before leaning forward even further and kissing the bridge of his nose. “Agree to disagree.”
“Menace,” Varric repeated, pinching her cheeks. “You are a menace, serah Hawke.”
“Varric, please! We’re in public, love. Save it for tonight.”

A/N: It’s the final chapter and I’d like to take a moment to thank everyone who has read and come this far on my writing journey! I love and appreciate everyone of you, and thank you coming along with the story! Please enjoy!

“Maybe it’ll be too loud for him“
“Haji it’s tradition and if he gets fussy I’ll com back inside with him“ It had been about a week after your son, Itsuki was born. The tradition of introducing your baby to the people was one that was held for generations, but Hajime was a bit skeptical. He thinks you and Isuki should both stay inside and rest. Especially you after such a long labor.
You were dressed in a loose but beautiful dress, Hajime was in his best suit, and Itsuki was in a white and sky blue dress. It was also tradition for the newborn to wear the dress for “purity and good fortune”
“My king, they are ready for you“ Rose said with a bow, picking up Itsuki you hold him in the crook of your elbow adjusting his clothes. There was no doubt you were absolutely absorbed by your new addition. He and Hajime were the center of your universe. Walking out on to the large balcony the crowd roars in cheers and claps
Hajime’s hand rested on your lower back walking near the railing but not too close. As soon as the crowd sees you both they quiet down to hear what their king has to say
“My people, today I introduce to you a prince, Itsuki Iwaizumi. Your queen went through quite an ordeal to bring him into the world. Not only do we have a son, but a future ruler and leader for our kingdom!“ the crowd somehow roared even louder than before. Both of you wave to your kingdom as things like flowers were thrown to you.
Your son was already acknowledged by his people and loved more by his family.
~~~
“Mmmm Itsuki..“ you groan as you stand form bed and walk over to his cot not far from you. He was still in his phase of waking you at ungodly hours for feeding. You pick him up and check if he needs changing, no he was fine. Surprisingly he didn’t want to feed either. Shrugging your shoulders you take him back to bed with you and lay him on your chest
“Is he okay?“ Hajime said sleepily turning over to you
“Just fine, wants to be held is all“ you whisper back kissing the top of Itsuki’s head
“He gets it from you“ he let out a sleepy chuckle as he sat up and brought you both into his embrace. His larger fingers wave in front of your baby as his big eyes gaze at you both. You felt a smile creep to your face, one that made your cheeks hurt.
“He’s so cute, so small, so perfect“ you whisper
“He really is huh? What kind of king do you think he’ll be?“ he asked you
“I think he’ll be strong and strategic like you, but very stubborn like me“ you chuckled “And definitely a heart breaker“ Itsuki let out a yawn snuggling against you. The warmth of his skin against yours was just so heartwarming you could stay this way forever if you could. Hajime kissed your shoulder and gently rubbed Itsuki’s hair
“I never thought I’d ever be here. With a wife, a son.....It’s different from what I saw and what others told me“  he said in a low tone
“What did they say?“
“They said I would leave this world cold and alone....more people would either be feared or dead by my hands...“
“Yet you’re here,“ you turn your body slightly so you faced him “This wasn’t something easy and I’m here with you. I love you more than anything, we have a son together, made from our love. You won’t leave this world alone because I’m here, with you“ he rested his forehead on yours with a very light bump
“I guess you are, aren’t you“ He my have lost everything but now he felt like he had the whole world in the palm of his hands
~~~ 3 years later
“Mama how much longer?” Itsuki fidgets in your lap as all three of you pose for the portrait. Itsuki had grown before your eyes and was already three years old. It was the day of the traditional family portrait and Hajime was the most excited about it. This was a family portrait with his family and it was going in his office.
“Just a bit more sweetie“ you whisper back to him who could blame him? You were here for about 2 hours already but the painter was being as quick and precise as he could. In the end the painting was beautiful and all three of you looked happy and lovely.
“Looks like you’ve got your old man’s looks son“ Hajime said ruffing his hair making him laugh and it was true. Itsuki looked so much like Hajime and if he stole your heart when you first met you could only imagine when Itsuki becomes older.
“Iwaa, how are you three doing?“ Oikawa said coming into the garden with Rose by his side. Speaking of, they have actually married and Hajime never thought the heart-stealing advisor would settle down and yet here they were.
“Just finished up the painting“ you said walking to them to greet them both “How are you holding up Rose?“
“Just fine, Tooru thought it would be nice to come see you both” She perked up and yes, she had made it to be your advisor passing her test with flying colors and she was just as a good advisor than she was a student. If anything it felt more like a big family honestly
“Uncle Tooru!“ Itsuki said running into his arms and lifted into the air with a giggle
“Wow look at you! Did you get taller?“ he asked him settling him back down to the ground
“Yeah! And papa said I might get my own sword soon!“ he said excitedly with his hands in the air
“Well, first you need to wait until you’re a bit older Itsuki“ you intervene. You don’t want to shatter his dreams but you wanted him to be safe if he were to start training. But you could clearly see the passion in his  eyes, the same as his father.
~~~
“Oh Haji~Mmmm“
“Oh yes dove, come on“ you both had an early morning and things had escalated a bit more. You’ve had mornings like this before but sometimes they were cut short by schedules and Itsuki. But finally, a complete morning for you both alone.
After finishing up he rolls off of you and brings you closer basking in the afterglow.
“Mmm it’s been a while since we went that long“ he teased nuzzling the side of your head with his nose
“Yeah it’s been a while but it was nice..“ you side pecking his nose with a sigh
“What’s wrong, you’ve been off in the past few days“ he said resting up on his elbows “And don’t say nothing“
“*sigh*... well, I’ve been thinking” you said
“That’s dangerous“ he joked
“Ha ha. No really I was um...how would..you feel about one more?“ you asked him
“One more?“
“Maybe a little girl this time?“ you said with a smile. He already knew what you wanted
“Oh, well then we should get to work then huh?“ he chuckled rolling you over on to him only for the door to be swung open by your sleepy son. He covered you as quickly as he could and pulled his pants on under the covers. While you got dressed he spoke with Itsuki
“Hey what you doing up this early?“ he walked over to the bed rubbing his eyes still sleepy making grabby hands to his father “ah okay, I see just wanna be with mama and papa“ he lifts him into the bed and put him between you both
“I’ll get work done early today“ he whispered as he played with his son’s hair
“I’ll hold you to that“ you winked
~~~
About a year later you were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, who you named Aiko. She was the end to you story. Both of your children were.
Was it an easy ride? Absolutely not. Would you have changed your fate? Maybe. But you were happy where you were
You were a simple girl from a village who was forced into marriage with the tyrant king. It took a while before you could even hold his hand on your own free will. He had given you the choice to forgive and love him and you took it blindly. You found it in yourself to love a broke man and out him together again.
He was never the same as before, but he was better. He had gained a wife, and you a husband, a son and daughter.
“And they lived happily ever after” you said finishing your story
“Is that really how the story went papa?” Itsuki asked as you tucked him into bed
“Yes it did son, now rest up yeah? We’ve got a big celebration tomorrow for your sister” you peck his forehead goodnight and so did Hajime. Leaving his room you gently close the door and start to your own bedroom
“We really have come a long way” you said quietly reaching your room
“Yes we have. Thank you for sticking along” he said opening the door
“Well thank you for making me come along” you wrap your arms around his neck and tip toe up for a passionate kiss “my king”
“And thank you for loving me, my queen”

• Warsaw Uprising
The Warsaw Uprising was a major World War II operation, in 1944, by the Polish underground resistance, led by the Polish resistance Home Army (Polish: Armia Krajowa), to liberate Warsaw from German occupation. The Uprising was fought for 63 days with little outside support. It was the single largest military effort taken by any European resistance movement during World War II.
In 1944, Poland had been occupied by Nazi Germany for almost five years. The Polish Home Army planned some form of rebellion against German forces. Germany was fighting a coalition of Allied powers, led by the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom and the United States. The initial plan of the Home Army was to link up with the invading forces of the Western Allies as they liberated Europe from the Nazis. However, when the Soviet Army began its offensive in 1943, it became clear that Poland would be liberated by it instead of the Western Allies. The Soviets and the Poles had a common enemy in Germany but were working towards different post-war goals: the Home Army desired a pro-Western, capitalist Poland, but the Soviet leader Stalin intended to establish a pro-Soviet, socialist Poland. It became obvious that the advancing Soviet Red Army might not come to Poland as an ally but rather only as "the ally of an ally". The Soviets and the Poles distrusted each other and Soviet partisans in Poland often clashed with a Polish resistance increasingly united under the Home Army's front. On October 20th, the Polish government-in-exile issued instructions to the effect that, if diplomatic relations with the Soviet Union were not resumed before the Soviet entry into Poland, Home Army forces were to remain underground pending further decisions. However, the Home Army commander, Tadeusz Bór-Komorowski, took a different approach, and on November 20th, he outlined his own plan, which became known as Operation Tempest. On the approach of the Eastern Front, local units of the Home Army were to harass the German Wehrmacht in the rear and co-operate with incoming Soviet units as much as possible. Although doubts existed about the military necessity of a major uprising, planning continued. General Bór-Komorowski and his civilian advisor were authorised by the government in exile to proclaim a general uprising whenever they saw fit.
The situation came to a head on July 13th, 1944 as the Soviet offensive crossed the old Polish border. At this point the Poles had to make a decision: either initiate the uprising in the current difficult political situation and risk a lack of Soviet support, or fail to rebel and face Soviet propaganda describing the Home Army as impotent or worse, Nazi collaborators. The urgency for a final decision on strategy increased as it became clear that, after successful Polish-Soviet co-operation in the liberation of Polish territory, Soviet security forces behind the frontline shot or arrested Polish officers and forcibly conscripted lower ranks into the Soviet-controlled forces. On July 21st, the High Command of the Home Army decided that the time to launch Operation Tempest in Warsaw was imminent. The plan was intended both as a political manifestation of Polish sovereignty and as a direct operation against the German occupiers. On July 25th, the Polish government-in-exile (without the knowledge and against the wishes of Polish Commander-in-Chief General Kazimierz Sosnkowski) approved the plan for an uprising in Warsaw with the timing to be decided locally. In the early summer of 1944, German plans required Warsaw to serve as the defensive centre of the area and to be held at all costs. The Germans had fortifications constructed and built up their forces in the area. This process slowed after the failed July 20th plot to assassinate the Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, and around that time, the Germans in Warsaw were weak and visibly demoralized. However, by the end of July, German forces in the area were reinforced.
On July 27th, the Governor of the Warsaw District, Ludwig Fischer, called for 100,000 Polish men and women to report for work as part of a plan which envisaged the Poles constructing fortifications around the city. The inhabitants of Warsaw ignored his demand, and the Home Army command became worried about possible reprisals or mass round-ups, which would disable their ability to mobilize. The Soviet forces were approaching Warsaw, and Soviet-controlled radio stations called for the Polish people to rise in arms. On July 29th, the first Soviet armoured units reached the outskirts of Warsaw, where they were counter-attacked by two German Panzer Corps. Believing that the time for action had arrived, on July 31st, the Polish commanders General Bór-Komorowski and Colonel Antoni Chruściel ordered full mobilization of the forces the following day. The Home Army forces of the Warsaw District numbered between 20,000, and 49,000 soldiers. Other underground formations also contributed; estimates range from 2,000 in total, to about 3,500 men including those from the National Armed Forces and the communist People's Army. Most of them had trained for several years in partisan and urban guerrilla warfare, but lacked experience in prolonged daylight fighting. The forces lacked equipment, because the Home Army had shuttled weapons to the east of the country before the decision to include Warsaw in Operation Tempest. Other partisan groups subordinated themselves to Home Army command, and many volunteers joined during the fighting, including Jews freed from the Gęsiówka concentration camp in the ruins of the Warsaw Ghetto.
Colonel Antoni Chruściel (codename "Monter") who commanded the Polish underground forces in Warsaw, divided his units into eight areas. On September 20th, the sub-districts were reorganized to align with the three areas of the city held by the Polish units. The entire force, renamed the Warsaw Home Army Corps (Polish: Warszawski Korpus Armii Krajowej) and commanded by General Antoni Chruściel – who was promoted from Colonel on September 14th, formed three infantry divisions (Śródmieście, Żoliborz and Mokotów). The exact number of the foreign fighters who fought in Warsaw for Poland's independence, is difficult to determine. It is estimated that they numbered several hundred and represented at least 15 countries – Slovakia, Hungary, Great Britain, Australia, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Greece, Italy, the United States of America, the Soviet Union, South Africa, Romania and even Germany and Nigeria. They wore the underground's red-white armband (the colors of the Polish national flag) and adopted the Polish traditional independence fighters’ slogan ‘Za naszą i waszą wolność’. Some of the ‘obcokrajowcy’ showed outstanding bravery in fighting the enemy and were awarded the highest decorations of the AK and the Polish government in exile. During the fighting, the Poles obtained additional supplies through airdrops and by capture from the enemy, including several armoured vehicles, notably two Panther tanks and two Sd.Kfz. 251 APC vehicles. Also, resistance workshops produced weapons throughout the fighting, including submachine guns, K pattern flamethrowers, grenades, and mortars.
In late July 1944 the German units stationed in and around Warsaw were divided into three categories. The first and the most numerous was the garrison of Warsaw. As of July 31st, it numbered some 11,000 troops under General Rainer Stahel. These well-equipped German forces prepared for the defence of the city's key positions for many months. Several hundred concrete bunkers and barbed wire lines protected the buildings and areas occupied by the Germans. The second category was formed by police and SS under Col. Paul Otto Geibel, numbering initially 5,710 men, including Schutzpolizei and Waffen-SS. The third category was formed by various auxiliary units, including detachments of the Bahnschutz (rail guard), Werkschutz (factory guard) and the Polish Volksdeutsche (ethnic Germans in Poland) and Soviet former POW of the Sonderdienst and Sonderabteilungen paramilitary units. During the uprising the German side received reinforcements on a daily basis. Stahel was replaced as overall commander by SS-General Erich von dem Bach in early August. The Nazi forces included about 5,000 regular troops; 4,000 Luftwaffe personnel (1,000 at Okęcie airport, 700 at Bielany, 1,000 in Boernerowo, 300 at Służewiec and 1,000 in anti-air artillery posts throughout the city); as well as about 2,000 men of the Sentry Regiment Warsaw (Wachtregiment Warschau).
After days of hesitation, at on July 31st, the Polish headquarters scheduled "W-hour" (from the Polish wybuch, "explosion"), the moment of the start of the uprising. The decision was a strategic miscalculation because the under-equipped resistance forces were prepared and trained for a series of coordinated surprise dawn attacks. In addition, although many units were already mobilized and waiting at assembly points throughout the city, the mobilization of thousands of young men and women was hard to conceal. Fighting started in advance of "W-hour", notably in Żoliborz, and around Napoleon Square and Dąbrowski Square. The Germans had anticipated the possibility of an uprising, though they had not realized its size or strength. That evening the resistance captured a major German arsenal, the main post office and power station and the Prudential building. However, Castle Square, the police district, and the airport remained in German hands. The first days were crucial in establishing the battlefield for the rest of the fight. The resistance fighters were most successful in the City Centre, Old Town, and Wola districts. However, several major German strongholds remained, and in some areas of Wola the Poles sustained heavy losses that forced an early retreat. In other areas such as Mokotów, the attackers almost completely failed to secure any objectives and controlled only the residential areas. In Praga, on the east bank of the Vistula, the Poles were sent back into hiding by a high concentration of German forces. Most crucially, the fighters in different areas failed to link up with each other and with areas outside Warsaw, leaving each sector isolated from the others. After the first hours of fighting, many units adopted a more defensive strategy, while civilians began erecting barricades. Despite all the problems, by August 4th, the majority of the city was in Polish hands, although some key strategic points remained untaken.
The uprising was intended to last a few days until Soviet forces arrived; however, this never happened, and the Polish forces had to fight with little outside assistance. Among the most notable primary targets that were not taken during the opening stages of the uprising were the airfields of Okęcie and Mokotów Field, as well as the PAST skyscraper overlooking the city centre and the Gdańsk railway station guarding the passage between the centre and the northern borough of Żoliborz. The leaders of the uprising counted only on the rapid entry of the Red Army in Warsaw (`on the second or third or, at the latest, by the seventh day of the fighting`) and were more prepared for a confrontation with the Russians. At this time, the head of the government in exile Mikolajczyk met with Stalin on August 3rd, 1944 in Moscow and raised the questions of his imminent arrival in Warsaw, the return to power of his government in Poland, Stalin refused. Thus, the Warsaw uprising was actively used to achieve political goals. The question of assistance to the insurrection was not raised by Mikolajczyk, apparently for reasons that it might weaken the position in the negotiations. The question of helping the "Home Army" with weapons was only raised, but Stalin refused to discuss this question until the formation of a new government was decided. The Uprising reached its apogee on August 4th, when the Home Army soldiers managed to establish front lines in the westernmost boroughs of Wola and Ochota. However, it was also the moment at which the German army stopped its retreat westwards and began receiving reinforcements. German counter-attacks aimed to link up with the remaining German pockets and then cut off the Uprising from the Vistula river. Estimates of civilians killed in Wola and Ochota range from 20,000 to 50,000, 40,000 by August 8th in Wola alone, or as high as 100,000. The main perpetrators were Oskar Dirlewanger and Bronislav Kaminski, whose forces committed the cruelest atrocities. The policy was designed to crush the Poles' will to fight and put the uprising to an end without having to commit to heavy city fighting. With time, the Germans realized that atrocities only stiffened resistance and that some political solution should be found, as the thousands of men at the disposal of the German commander were unable to effectively counter the resistance in an urban guerrilla setting.
Despite the loss of Wola, the Polish resistance strengthened. Zośka and Wacek battalions managed to capture the ruins of the Warsaw Ghetto and liberate the Gęsiówka concentration camp, freeing about 350 Jews. The area became one of the main communication links between the resistance fighting in Wola and those defending the Old Town. On August 7th German forces were strengthened by the arrival of tanks using civilians as human shields. After two days of heavy fighting they managed to bisect Wola and reach Bankowy Square. However, by then the net of barricades, street fortifications, and tank obstacles were already well-prepared; both sides reached a stalemate, with heavy house-to-house fighting. Between the 9th and 18th of August pitched battles raged around the Old Town and nearby Bankowy Square, with successful attacks by the Germans and counter-attacks from the Poles. German tactics hinged on bombardment through the use of heavy artillery and tactical bombers, against which the Poles were unable to effectively defend, as they lacked anti-aircraft artillery weapons. Even clearly marked hospitals were dive-bombed by Stukas. The Poles held the Old Town until a decision to withdraw was made at the end of August. On successive nights until September 2nd, the defenders of the Old Town withdrew through the sewers, which were a major means of communication between different parts of the Uprising. Thousands of people were evacuated in this way. Those that remained were either shot or transported to concentration camps like Mauthausen and Sachsenhausen once the Germans regained control. Soviet attacks on the 4th SS Panzer Corps east of Warsaw were renewed on August 26th, and the Germans were forced to retreat into Praga. The Soviet army under the command of Konstantin Rokossovsky captured Praga and arrived on the east bank of the Vistula in mid-September. In the Praga area, Polish units under the command of General Zygmunt Berling fought on the Soviet side. The Germans intensified their attacks on the Home Army positions near the river to prevent any further landings, but were not able to make any significant advances for several days while Polish forces held those vital positions in preparation for a new expected wave of Soviet landings. Polish units from the eastern shore attempted several more landings, and from the 15th to 23rd of September sustained heavy losses (including the destruction of all their landing boats and most of their other river crossing equipment). Red Army support was inadequate. Plans for a river crossing were suspended "for at least 4 months", since operations against the 9th Army's five panzer divisions were problematic at that point, and the commander of the 1st Polish Army, General Berling was relieved of his duties by his Soviet superiors.
By the first week of September both German and Polish commanders realized that the Soviet army was unlikely to act to break the stalemate. The Germans reasoned that a prolonged Uprising would damage their ability to hold Warsaw as the frontline; the Poles were concerned that continued resistance would result in further massive casualties. On September 7th, General Rohr proposed negotiations, which Bór-Komorowski agreed to pursue the following day. Over the next 3 days about 20,000 civilians were evacuated by agreement of both sides, and Rohr recognized the right of Home Army soldiers to be treated as military combatants. The Poles suspended talks on the 11th, as they received news that the Soviets were advancing slowly through Praga. A few days later, the arrival of the 1st Polish army breathed new life into the resistance and the talks collapsed. However, by the morning of September 27th, the Germans had retaken Mokotów. Talks restarted on the 28th. The Poles were being pushed back into fewer and fewer streets, and their situation was ever more desperate. On the 30th, Hitler decorated von dem Bach, Dirlewanger and Reinefarth, while in London General Sosnkowski was dismissed as Polish commander-in-chief. Bór-Komorowski was promoted in his place, even though he was trapped in Warsaw. The capitulation order of the remaining Polish forces was finally signed on October 2nd. All fighting ceased that evening. According to the agreement, the Wehrmacht promised to treat Home Army soldiers in accordance with the Geneva Convention, and to treat the civilian population humanely. The next day the Germans began to disarm the Home Army soldiers. They later sent 15,000 of them to POW camps in various parts of Germany. Between 5,000 and 6,000 resistance fighters decided to blend into the civilian population hoping to continue the fight later. The entire civilian population of Warsaw was expelled from the city and sent to a transit camp Durchgangslager 121 in Pruszków. Out of 350,000–550,000 civilians who passed through the camp, 90,000 were sent to labour camps in the Third Reich, 60,000 were shipped to death and concentration camps (including Ravensbrück, Auschwitz, and Mauthausen, among others), while the rest were transported to various locations in the General Government and released.
The Eastern Front remained static in the Vistula sector, with the Soviets making no attempt to push forward, until the Vistula–Oder Offensive began on January 12th, 1945. Almost entirely destroyed, Warsaw was liberated from the Germans on January 17th, 1945 by the Red Army and the First Polish Army. By January 1945, 85% of the buildings in Warsaw were destroyed: 25% as a result of the Uprising, 35% as a result of systematic German actions after the uprising, and the rest as a result of the earlier Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, and the September 1939 campaign. In 2004, President of Warsaw Lech Kaczyński, later President of Poland, established a historical commission to estimate material losses that were inflicted upon the city by German authorities. The commission estimated the losses as at least US$31.5 billion at 2004 values. Estimates of German casualties differ widely. Though the figure of 9,000 German WIA is generally accepted and generates no controversy.
Most soldiers of the Home Army (including those who took part in the Warsaw Uprising) were persecuted after the war; captured by the NKVD or UB political police. They were interrogated and imprisoned on various charges, such as that of fascism. Between 1944 and 1956, all of the former members of Battalion Zośka were incarcerated in Soviet prisons. In March 1945, a staged trial of 16 leaders of the Polish Underground State held by the Soviet Union took place in Moscow. Many resistance fighters, captured by the Germans and sent to POW camps in Germany, were later liberated by British, American and Polish forces and remained in the West. Among those were the leaders of the uprising Tadeusz Bór-Komorowski and Antoni Chruściel. The facts of the Warsaw Uprising were inconvenient to Stalin, and were twisted by propaganda of the People's Republic of Poland, which stressed the failings of the Home Army and the Polish government-in-exile, and forbade all criticism of the Red Army or the political goals of Soviet strategy. In the immediate post-war period, the very name of the Home Army was censored, and most films and novels covering the 1944 Uprising were either banned or modified so that the name of the Home Army did not appear. From the 1950s on, Polish propaganda depicted the soldiers of the Uprising as brave, but the officers as treacherous, reactionary and characterized by disregard of the losses. The first publications on the topic taken seriously in the West were not issued until the late 1980s. In Warsaw no monument to the Home Army was built until 1989. Instead, efforts of the Soviet-backed People's Army were glorified and exaggerated. By contrast, in the West the story of the Polish fight for Warsaw was told as a tale of valiant heroes fighting against a cruel and ruthless enemy. The belief that the Uprising failed because of deliberate procrastination by the Soviet Union contributed to anti-Soviet sentiment in Poland. Memories of the Uprising helped to inspire the Polish labour movement Solidarity, which led a peaceful opposition movement against the Communist government during the 1980s. In Poland, August 1st is now a celebrated anniversary. On August 1st, 1994, Poland held a ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Uprising to which both the German and Russian presidents were invited.

Facing Vengeance
There was nowhere on Odessen that was completely private, it seemed. Yet by this point, most of the base’s occupants seemed to know that if Comman-- no, if Master Taerich was walking around with that particular worried frown on her face, to just leave her be and let Lana, or Theron, or Sorand sort out whatever the problem was.
Right now, Xaja had a feeling that not even the combined skills of her husband, her closest advisor, and her brother could solve this problem for her. And hells, she felt even more anxious thinking about how Theron was going to take the grim news that Kira and Scourge had given her.
She stepped out onto a small balcony, overseeing the new construction of off-base buildings for the military families starting to form, and sighed heavily. Even Odessen’s cheerily bright sunshine couldn’t break through the clouds of worry in her mind. Bracing her weight on her hands, she leaned against the railing to watch with unseeing eyes, her mind racing with trying to strategize for the task ahead, and trying to form contingency plans in the event that -- no, she couldn’t fail, not now, not with these stakes.
It could have been ten minutes, or it could have been two hours, before she sensed a warm, familiar presence behind her, along with the heavy bootsteps of someone a foot taller than her. She could sense the avalanche of questions Theron had for her, but he remained quiet, watching her with a frown she could feel, even with her back turned to him.
She sighed again, and finally spoke, her voice quiet. “They found the ship.” With the Force enhancing her senses, she could feel the way Theron’s breath caught in his chest, despite his trying to hide it.
Silence lingered for a moment after her words, then the bootsteps approached her, and a heavy hand settled on her shoulder. Honestly, Xaja wasn’t sure if Theron’s touch was him trying to comfort her, or if he was trying to reassure himself that she, at least, was all right, for now. Perhaps both. “Any other news?” he asked, trying and failing to keep the worry out of his voice. Perhaps to anyone else, he could have fooled them into thinking he was aloof and detached… but Xaja knew her husband far too well.
She shook her head, frowning. “No. Scourge thinks the… problem is worsening, but it’s impossible to confirm that this far out.” Another heavy sigh, as though the weight of the galaxy itself rested on Xaja’s shoulders… which, in her opinion, wasn’t too far off from the truth. It was a burden she would never fully grow used to carrying “We won’t know for certain until… until we get there.” She glanced up at Theron’s amber eyes, clouded with worry, then looked back down the valley. Almost of its own will, her hand reached up and found his fingers; she squeezed tightly, and felt him squeeze back just as hard. “We’ll be leaving soon to intercept it.”
“How soon is ‘soon’?” Theron asked, determinedly keeping his voice somewhat light despite his worry.
“Kira’s getting the Serenity fuelled up as we speak.”
“... I see.” Another pause, before Theron spoke again. “I should come with--”
“Theron, you know why I can’t let you come with us,” Xaja said, finally turning to face Theron directly, never letting go of his hand. “You’ve never had him in your head… you don’t have any protection from him.”
“He’s dead,” Theron argued.
“And still as deadly now as he was when he was still alive! If your own mother had no defense against him…” The reminder of what Satele Shan’s fate could be made Xaja falter for a moment, dread stilling her tongue at the reminder of what was happening to her old mentor, and the grandmother of her child.
“It’s my mother on that ship,” Theron protested. “I need to be there!”
“Where you need to be is safe here, on Odessen, with Daenril!”
“Between your dad and Senya always keeping an eye on him…”
“He still needs his daddy.”
“And he still needs his mama. I’m not letting you--”
“Right now, his mama is the best shot for saving his grandma.” Xaja felt unshed tears choking up her voice as she looked away from Theron’s eyes for a moment. “... And I can’t lose you again, Theron. I can’t!” Her eyes fell to his abdomen, despite herself -- even a year after rescuing Theron off Nathema, the image of that terrible lightsaber wound that had nearly killed him was burned into her memory.
“What the hells makes you think I can lose you?”
Xaja didn't answer that… at least, not by continuing the argument. A bitter, broken laugh escaped her as she ran a hand through her hair, shaking her head. "How fucked up are we that this is a regular fight with us?"
"I kinda envy couples whose biggest fights extend to chores, now that you mention it." Theron stepped toward, enough to wrap his arms around Xaja's back and pull her into a tight hug. She gladly melted into his touch, resting her cheek against his chest, tracking the breaths she could feel him take, reminding her that he was alive and safe. Silence lingered for a moment before he spoke again, his voice quiet. "I don't like this. I feel like I need to be there. It… it is my mother." That was probably the closest he would get to admitting his fear for Satele.
"And you know why we can't risk it. Scourge, Kira, and I are the only ones with any immunity to Valk-- Viti-- Tenebr-- fuckit, whatever his name is." That bastard had had far too many names to keep track of. "We're not even bringing Arcann on this -- it's too great a risk." Tilting her head up, Xaja caressed Theron's cheek, feeling stubble against her fingertips. "I'm not going to put you in danger like that."
Theron sighed, covering her hand with his own. "I get it. But it doesn't mean I like it."
"Believe me, I don't like it either--" She straightened as she sensed another bright presence approaching, and glanced to the side as Kira appeared on the end of the ramp. "What's up?"
"All fuelled up and ready to go, boss." Kira flicked a little wave at Theron, then turned her attention back to her former Master. "Scourge is ready to head out five minutes ago."
Three hundred years of life, and apparently he'd used up his life's allotment of patience. Although, at the prospect of destroying what was left of the Emperor, for what had to be the final time... "Be there in a minute," Xaja confirmed, and watched Kira dart away. She then looked back to Theron and tugged him down to rest her forehead against his own. "It'll work out," she murmured, forcing herself to sound vaguely optimistic. To judge from Theron's quiet sigh, she'd failed.
"Whatever happens…" he finally whispered, "... even if you can't save Satel-- save my mother… make sure you come home. I can't lose you." The Force around him flickered with anxiety and fear he was barely keeping suppressed. "Come back to me."
"I will," Xaja promised as she stretched up to kiss him. Inwardly, she tried to shove down her own dread at the upcoming peril she was flying into. This parting from Theron wouldn't be another five year separation, right? Surely the Force didn’t hate her that much? "I love you, spyboy."
"I love you too." Theron gave her a small attempt at a smile, then leaned in to kiss her again. "Be safe."
Returning the smile, Xaja nodded, then reluctantly stepped back from Theron, forcing herself to finally turn and hurry down the ramp. The galaxy still wasn't going to save itself… and her old mentor couldn't save herself this time. This has got to be the last time we deal with anything connected to that bastard. Force, I can’t keep doing this...
She could see Theron still standing there, watching, as she piloted the Serenity up and out of Odessen's atmosphere minutes later.

The Application of Surveillance System in The Railway
Wireless surveillance systems inside the railway infrastructure must route the approval characteristics and its particular special environment. In addition to other monitoring applications,a variety of special factors need to be looking at, including the following: Preset accuracy Railway control system, in order to quickly locate the scene or in reply to the alarm, the consumer will often setup multiple presets for future faster use of applications, preset amount is usually no hassle, almost all of the existing camera support 128 as well as 256 preset positions, and actual projects will not use so much, however the preset PTZ cameras is always to examine the precision with the important indicators, for example if the user set a preset, it's known as the future, and a few camera preset position will be offset shift, in order that needed to be manually re-tuning, preset bit lost its meaning, effect on use. Long-range camera Another application is the railway down the railway. Long may need to monitor tens of meters from the camera, a number of hundred meters or several kilometers, then, meaning long-range camera may have to look a number of kilometers from the effect. Hope is not a simple camera camera longer focal length lens. When the focal length must be pulled manually control the keyboard difficult to find a distant target. In other words, the camera's micro-step control is very important. In addition, high-altitude look camera, anti-shake, night vision lighting problems are important considerations. Natural phenomena Wind, rain, thunder is a test of the outdoor cameras, each link can cause harm to system maintenance costs soar. The railway project is seen as a large span, often quite like finding far, sometimes high across the ground, and also the system running to apply for jobs once opened will face many restrictions, resulting in increased costs. Therefore, the outdoor camera selection, installation, wiring and high-quality camera itself is particularly crucial. Selection of the encoder and DVR High-speed rail projects, the encoder and DVR are generally deployed at various sites scattered from the engine room, therefore, the encoder and DVR will need to have ultra-stable performance (embedded encoder and embedded DVR is preferred), good networking capabilities, remote management and upgrade capabilities. As the complexity of network systems architecture, large span, routing plus more, and so the dependence on encoder devices can function which has a local cache, a brief terminal within the network video not lost true, when the network is restored to the video supplement to the NVR storage. In addition, the picture resolution, dual-stream support, two-way audio support, alarm input and output quantity indicators are to be considered. Coding Standards At present, the railway project is especially utilized in MPEG-4 encoding technology and H.264 encoding technology, the future deployment of AVS could possibly be encoded using intra-frame compression and inter-frame compression to eliminate method of combining video information redundancy on time and space more than information. Coding Railway consultancy must be less than 300ms, forward delay each and every level ought to be lower than 500ms, the decoding device delay needs to be below 300ms, PTZ response latency should be less than 500ms, wireless surveillance system monitors the front-end collection devices to the user terminal delay should not exceed 3s.

Taxila
Tumblr media
Taxila (Urdu: ٹيکسلا‎), is a city in Rawalpindi District of the Punjab, Pakistan. Taxila is situated about 32 km (20 mi) north-west of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, along the historic Grand Trunk Road, near the important Sikh pilgrimage centre of Hasan Abdal, and the Mughal-era Wah Gardens.
Ancient Taxila was historically referred to as Takshashila in Sanskrit, and Takkasila in Pali. The earliest settlement at Taxila was founded around 1000 BCE at the Hathial site. The Hindu epic poem Mahābhārata is believed to have been first recited at Taxila, by the sage Vaiśampāyana. By some accounts, Taxila was home to one of the earliest, if not the first, universities in the world.
Taxila’s ruins are internationally renowned, and function as a series of interrelated sites, including a Mesolithic cave, the remains of 4 ancient cities, and Buddhist monasteries and stupas. The ancient ruins of Taxila were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980.
Etymology
Taxila was in ancient times known in Pali as Takkasila, and in Sanskrit as Takshashila (IAST: Takṣaśilā). The city’s Sanskrit name means “City of Cut Stone”. The city’s ancient Sanskrit name alternately means “Rock of Taksha” – in reference to the Ramayana story that states the city was founded by Bharata, younger brother of the central Hindu deity Rama, and named in honour of Bharata’s son, Taksha.
The city’s modern name, however, is derived from the ancient Greek recording of the ancient city’s name, noted in Ptolemy’s Geography. The Greek transcription of Taxila became universally favoured over time, while the Pali and Sanskrit versions fell out of use.
History
Early settlement
The region around Taxila was settled by the neolithic era, with some ruins at Taxila dating to 3360 BCE. Ruins dating from the Early Harappan period around 2900 BCE have also been discovered in the Taxila area, though the area was eventually abandoned after the collapse of the Indus Valley Civilisation.
The first major settlement at Taxila was established around 1000 BCE. By 900 BCE, the city was already involved in regional commerce, as discovered pottery shards reveal trading ties between the city and Puṣkalāvatī.
Taxila was founded in a strategic location along the ancient “Royal Highway” that connected the capital at Pataliputra in Bihar, with ancient Peshawar, Puṣkalāvatī, and onwards towards Central Asia via Kashmir, Bactria, and Kāpiśa. Taxila thus changed hands many times over the centuries, with many empires vying for its control.
Achaemenid
Archaeological excavations show that the city may have grown significantly during the rule of the Persian Achaemenid Empire in the 6th century BCE. In 516 BCE, Darius I embarked on a campaign to conquer Central Asia, Ariana, and Bactria, before marching onto what is now Afghanistan and northern Pakistan. Emperor Darius spent the winter of 516–515 BCE in the Gandhara region surrounding Taxila and prepared to conquer the Indus Valley, which he did in 515 BCE, after which he appointed Scylax of Caryanda to explore the Indian Ocean from the mouth of the Indus to the Suez. Darius then returned to Persia via the Bolan Pass. The region continued under Achaemenid suzerainty under the reign of Xerxes I and continued under the Achaemenid rule for over a century.
Hellenistic and Mauryan
Alexander the Great invaded Taxila in 326 BCE, after the city was surrendered by its ruler, king Omphis. Greek historians accompanying Alexander described Taxila as “wealthy, prosperous, and well governed.” His troops were said to have found a university in Taxila, the like of which had not been seen in Greece.
After Alexander’s departure, Taxila came under the influence of Chandragupta Maurya, who turned Taxila into a regional capital. His advisor, Chanakya, was said to have taught at Taxila’s university. Under the reign of Ashoka, the city was made a great seat of Buddhist learning, though the city was home to a minor rebellion during this time.
Indo-Greek
In the 2nd century BCE, Taxila was annexed by the Indo-Greek kingdom of Bactria. Indo-Greeks build new capital, Sirkap, on the opposite bank of the river from Taxila. During this new period of Bactrian Greek rule, several dynasties (like Antialcidas) likely ruled from the city as their capital. During lulls in Greek rule, the city managed profitably on its own, to independently control several local trade guilds, who also minted most of the city’s autonomous coinage. In about the 1st century BCE or 1st century CE, an Indo-Scythian king named Azilises had three mints, one of which was at Taxila, and struck coins with obverse legends in Greek and Kharoṣṭhī. The last Greek king of Taxila was overthrown by the Indo-Scythian chief Maues around 90 BCE. Gondophares, founder of the Indo-Parthian Kingdom, conquered Taxila around 20 BCE, and made Taxila his capital. According to early Christian legend, Thomas the Apostle visits king Gondophares IV around 46 CE, possibly at Taxila given that that city was Gondophares’ capital city.
Kushan
In the first century CE, the Greek Neopythagorean philosopher Apollonius of Tyana visited Taxila, which his team described as a fortified city laid out on a symmetrical plan, similar in size to Nineveh. Inscriptions dating to 76 CE demonstrate that the city had come under Kushan rule by this time after the city was captured from the Parthians by Kujula Kadphises, founder of the Kushan Empire. The great Kushan ruler Kanishka later founded Sirsukh, the most recent of the ancient settlement at Taxila.
Decline
By the 300s CE, the Sasanian king Shapur II seems to have conquered Taxila, as evidenced by the numerous Sasanian copper coins found there. Taxila’s ancient university remained in existence during the travels of Chinese pilgrim Faxian, who visited Taxila around 400 CE. He wrote that ancient Taxila’s name translated as “the Severed Head”, and was the site of a story in the life of Buddha “where he gave his head to a man”.
The White Huns swept over Gandhāra and Punjab around 470 CE, causing widespread devastation and destruction of Taxila’s famous Buddhist monasteries and stupas, a blow from which the city would never recover. Xuanzang visited Taxila in 630 and 643 CE, and wrote that the city had already fallen into ruin by the time of his arrival.
Modern
The renowned archaeologist Sir Alexander Cunningham rediscovered the ruins of Taxila in the mid-19th century by identifying a local site known as Sarai Kala (or Sarai Khola) with ancient Taxila. Prior to that, the location of the ancient city of Taxila, known from literary texts, was uncertain.
Geography
Taxila is located 32 km (20 mi) north-west of the Pakistani capital Islamabad. The city is located approximately 549 meters (1,801 ft) above sea level.
Climate
Taxila features a humid subtropical climate (Köppen: Cwa)
Economy
Tourism
Taxila’s ruins, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, date from as early as 1000 BCE, and are a major tourist draw.
Taxila is one of northern Pakistan’s most important tourist destinations, and is home to the Taxila Museum which holds a large number of artifacts from Taxila’s excavations. Though the number of foreign visitors to the site drastically declined following the start of an Islamist insurgency in Pakistan in 2007, visitor numbers began to noticeably improve by 2017, after the law and order situation in the region had greatly improved following the start of the 2014 Zarb-e-Azb campaign launched by the Pakistani Army against radical Islamist militants.
In 2017, the Pakistani government announced its intention to develop Taxila into a site for Buddhist religious pilgrimage. As part of the efforts, it announced that an exhibition on the Buddhist heritage of the region would be held in Thailand, and that the Thai government would assist in conservation efforts at the site. Relics from Taxila were also sent to Sri Lanka for the 2017 Vesak holiday as part of an effort to showcase the region’s Buddhist heritage. The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation also announced in 2017 that a tour bus service would be launched between the Taxila Museum and Islamabad.
In addition to the ruins of ancient Taxila, relics of Mughal gardens and vestiges of historical Grand Trunk Road are also found in Taxila. Nicholson’s Obelisk, named in honour of Brigadier John Nicholson who died in during the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857, is a monument from the British era that welcomes travelers arriving from Rawalpindi/Islamabad.
Industry
Taxila is home to Heavy Industries Taxila, a major Pakistani defence, military contractor, engineering conglomerate. The city’s economy is also closely linked to the large Pakistan Ordnance Factories at nearby Wah Cantt, which employs 27,000 people. Cottage and household industries include stoneware, pottery and footwear.
Transportation
Rail
Taxila is served by the Taxila Cantonment Junction railway station. Taxila Junction is served by the Karachi–Peshawar Railway Line, and is the southern terminus of the Khunjerab Railway, which connects Taxila to the Havelian railway station. A planned extension of the railway will eventually connect Taxila to China’s Southern Xinjiang Railway in Kashgar, as part of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor.
Road
The M-1 Motorway, pictured near Taxila, links the city to Islamabad and Peshawar.
The ancient Grand Trunk Road is designated as N-5 National Highway, and connects the city to the Afghan border, and northern Punjab. The Karakoram Highway’s southern terminus is in nearby Hasan Abdal, and connects Taxila to the Chinese border near the Hunza Valley.
The city is linked to Peshawar and Islamabad by the M-1 Motorway, which in turn offers wider motorway access to Lahore via the M-2 Motorway, and Faisalabad via the M-4 Motorway.
Air
The nearest airport to Taxila is Islamabad International Airport located 36.5 kilometers away. Peshawar’s Bacha Khan International Airport is 155 kilometers away.
Education
University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila is a local branch of the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore.
Taxila is home to many secondary educational institutes including CIIT Wah Campus, and HITEC University. The University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila was established in 1975 as a campus of the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, and offers bachelor, master, and doctoral degrees in engineering.
Ancient ruins
The Ruins of Taxila include four major cities, each belonging to a distinct time period, at three different sites. The earliest settlement at Taxila is found in the Hathial section, which yielded pottery shards that date from as early as the late 2nd millennium BCE to the 6th century BCE. The Bhir Mound ruins at the site date from the 6th century BCE, and are adjacent to Hathial. The ruins of Sirkap date to the 2nd century BCE, and were built by the region’s Greco-Bactrian kings who ruled in the region following Alexander the Great’s invasion of the region in 326 BCE. The third and most recent settlement is that of Sirsukh, which was built by rulers of the Kushan empire, who ruled from nearby Purushapura (modern Peshawar).
Culture
Modern Taxila is a mix of relatively wealthy urban, and poorer rural environs. Urban residential areas are general in the form of planned housing colonies populated by workers of the heavy mechanical complex & heavy industries, educational institutes and hospitals that are located in the area.
Museums
Taxila Museum has one of the most significant and comprehensive collections of stone Buddhist sculptures from the first to the seventh centuries in Pakistan (known as Gandharan art. The core of the collection comes from excavated sites in the Taxila Valley, particularly the excavations of Sir John Marshall. Other objects come from excavated sites elsewhere in Gandhara, from donations such as the Ram Das Collection, or from material confiscated by the police and customs authorities.

Day 4: Rain
“First decent shore leave in months, and what’s it do? It rains.” Crassus groused, eyes glued to the local forecast on his omnitool as he let himself into the hotel room. “Aw Spirits, it’s supposed to rain every day for the next week!”
That figured. The Indomitable was finally back in Council Space, finally near a planet large enough for the ship to land and there were a ton of things to do in the city that would be way more fun without the torrential rain. He’d planned to do a little bar hopping, some sight-seeing and all the other usual shit, but not in rain like this, Spirits. Now he needed new plans, plans that allowed him to stay dry at least most of the time.
“Mav?” He called into the room the other agent had netted. Fuck, it was a lot nicer than any room his superiors had ever assigned to him. It was a damned suite: two rooms plus a living space, a small kitchen and a bathroom with an honest-to-the-Spirits giant tub of all things. And a balcony off the bedroom which was where he found Mav.
The older agent had his back to him, hands on the railing and already soaked to the bone. Crassus flared his mandibles.
“Shit, Mav. You’ll catch your death in weather like this.” He muttered as he stepped out onto the balcony with him. In seconds, he was just as drenched. “Hey, come inside you crazy fucker.”
“A moment.” Mav hummed, gesturing him quiet before he held out a cupped palm to catch the rain.
Crassus’ mandibles worked slowly against his jaw. Something about that movement made him deeply uncomfortable and it was a minute or two before he figured out why. “You’ve got your sensors dialed all the way up, don’t you?”
“Yes.” Mav answered him. “Please. Quiet.”
“Fuck Mav. You know how dangerous that is for you.” He said quietly but no less intensely. “Turn them off.”
“A moment.”
“Mavi.”
The smaller agent sighed and lifted his omnitool, typing quickly along its haptic interface. “There. Off.”
Crassus let his shoulders drop in relief. Spirits. That was a disaster surprisingly easily avoided. He took Mav’s arm and slowly led him back inside. All the rain water quickly collected on the floor at their feet. Crassus scratched at his fringe with his free hand. Mav hopefully had the sense to leave his inputs off for a while after that stunt but Crassus honestly didn’t trust him not to turn shit back on the second he was left alone. Fuck. Well, there were his new plans. Making sure Mav didn’t overload himself playing in the rain.
“Fucking Spirits, sometimes I don’t know what to think about you,” He said for himself, just to voice it. Comfortable voicing it without Mav currently able to hear him. “You’d think, all you’ve been through, you’d want to take care of that tech in your head.”
He held Mav’s cybernetic stare, impassive as always, but more-so without their usual faded glow. He wondered what they’d looked like when they were organic and even though it would be easy to find out from Mav’s dossier, that felt a little too much like digging into his privacy. Mav would just tell him if he asked, but if he were to go digging, that would offend the smaller agent. He’d know, somehow he would know like he knew all the things there was no way he could know. All that tech in his head, Crassus could admit to envying. The Blackwatch considered Mav an asset when anyone else that had survived the damage he had would have been put out to pasture. Or stripped of rank and left in some medical facility to rot. Mav though, he got rebuilt from the ground up, placed back on the Indomitable, and given the freedom to roam the dreadnought however he wished. Only occasionally did he step onto the field, only occasionally did he act as something like a strategic advisor to the Commanders and Captain. Most the time, Mav was down in the guts tinkering with this or that and listening to the hum of the ship.
Crassus touched his shoulder and let his hand slide to the buttons of Mav’s shirt. He caught on quickly and began to wiggle out of the clinging fabric. “...you should have been ashes a long time ago, Mav.” He mumbled, watching him strip away his pants too, seeing every scar as it was revealed. “You know? I’m glad you’re not. Can we try to keep you that way a little longer?”
Mav reached toward him without reacting to his words. But of course he didn’t, he couldn’t hear them. Or he was pretending not to. Crassus could never really tell. The smaller agent tugged at his clothes, at buttons and straps and zippers, all by feel alone. Crassus took his arm again when he was done and pulled him to the bathroom and the edge of that big tub. Made him sit on it and watched Mav run his fingers slowly over the tiles as he filled the thing full of steaming water.
Bathing Mav wasn’t something he was comfortable doing, strictly speaking, sex in the shower wasn’t bathing, and they’d done that a ton of times. This time Crassus just wanted to make sure he hadn’t fucked over his body temperature standing out in the freezing rain for Spirits knew how long. He caught Mav’s wrist and brought up his omnitool himself, finding the auditory setting and bringing it up a single notch.
“Tub’s full,” He said.
“Hot?”
“Very,” He flicked his mandibles. “Get in and get warm again.”
Mav shifted on the edge and swung his legs over. Then he slid into the water and sank up to his chin. “Will you join me?”
A full sentence. Spirits, Mav didn’t voice enough of those. Crassus’ mandibles fluttered. “Yeah.” He said. “Yeah, scoot over. To your left, Mav.”
