Day 2
Disclaimer: I am not a scholar or a professional who studies religion. The points I am giving are just some snippets from the Quran which I found interesting. If you want to know more about the context, I'd suggest you to read the Quran—or maybe the tafsir (explanation) in your native language.
Juz' 2
• Further explanation about history of the qibla (direction towards Kaaba in Mecca, which is used by Muslims as the directiom of prayer for the salah).
• Allah tests and tries His servants.
• Sa'i (ritual of walking back and forth seven times between  two small hills of Safa and Marwa).
• The order to eat halal things and explanation of what is prohibited and what is not.
• The order to practice qisas ("eye for an eye") and wasiat (a will before death).
• The order to practice fasting during Ramadan.
• The command to fight those who fight muslims. This is said to probably be the most misquoted verse from the Quran.
• Command to complete Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) and Umrah.
• Prohibition of khamr (alcoholic drink) and gambling.
• Charity and who has the rights to receive it.
• Prohibition of sexual intercourse with menstruating women.
• About divorce.
• Command that prayer should be performed properly and on time.
• Story of Prophet Shammil (Samuel) and Israelites and King Talut (Saul), and how Prophet Dawud (David) killed Jalut (Goliath).

ramadan 30 day challenge
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
introducing the ramadan 30 day challenge!
I made this challenge in the hopes of catering to as many people as I can - so, regardless of anyone's home situation, health, money, whether or not you live near a mosque or a community etc, I think it is somewhat do-able or adaptable for all! you can access anything you need for this (verses/surahs from the Qur'an for eg) online. I also know that for some people (depending on countries etc), ramadan is either 29 or 30 days, so it's fine to finish on the 29th day if necessary.
if you miss a couple days as well (or end up seeing this post halfway through ramadan), just pick up from whatever day of ramadan it is!
it starts off easy and gets harder as you go along! i'm also going to be doing this ramadan challenge and posting my own updates on here, Insha’Allah! if you do this too, please do tag me because I would love to see how people are getting on! ♡ here it is:
recite surah ikhlas 3 times
recite durood sharif 3 times
read Qur'an after asr
recite the 3 Quls (last 3 surahs of the Qur'an) in the evening/before sleeping today
listen to an islamic podcast
write down 5 things you are grateful to Allah for on paper or phone notes app
istighfar 100 times
read all of surah mulk before bed
wake up for tahajjud and pray (at least) 2 rakaats
learn 5 names/attributes of Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ
do something nice for somebody else - can even be very small and will still be rewarded for it
wear your favourite abaya/thobe/modest clothing for every salah today. look your best for Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ in your prayer like you would to go to a special event
give some (charity) sadaqah (create a sadaqah jar/box!)
read the last 2 verses of surah baqarah before sleeping
make a du'a for your friends and family - name them and pray for something specific for each of them
read all of surah Ya Sin after fajr
pray 2 nafl rakaats (voluntary prayer) today after the 2 sunnah rakaats of zuhr
no backbiting/gossiping about anyone at all and 2 nafl rakaats (voluntary prayer) if you do
pick a surah from the Qur'an and read the commentary for each verse
memorise the dua to recite on laylatul qadr اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي Allahumma innaka 'Afuwwun, tuhibbul 'afwa, fa'fu 'anni "O Allah, You are indeed Forgiving and love to forgive, so forgive me."
donate to a charity (for palestine!!). even the smallest amount will be beneficial + rewarded by Allah
recite ayatul kursi after each 5 fard (obligatory) salah
pray all the 12 sunnah today: 2 rakaats before Fajr; 4 rakaats before zuhr and two rakaats after; 2 rakaats after Maghrib; and 2 rakaats after Ishaa
pray (at least) 2 rakaats of taraweeh (either at the mosque or at home by yourself/with family!)
pray 2 rakaats of duha (optional) prayer - it is between 15 minutes after sunrise until zuhr time. (not after zuhr!!)
recite subhanallahi wabihamdi, subhanallahil adheem 100 times - (Glory be to Allah and all praise is due to Him, glory be to Allah, the Great)
be extra modest today (tailored to you. wear hijab outside if you don't, or wear your loosest outfit or lower your gaze completely (including lowering it on social media) today etc. whatever being extra modest is for you, do that today).
pray on time, no procrastination or delays. check what local time each prayer is for you and pray then (unless you're praying at the mosque!)
istighfar x1000 times
pray some of the nawafil ON TOP OF all the sunnah prayers that accompany the 5 obligatory prayers: - 2 rakaats of duha prayer - 2 rakaats after the 2 sunnah rakaats of zuhr - 4 rakaats before asr - 2 rakaats after the 2 sunnah rakaats of maghrib - 2 rakaats after the 2 sunnah rakaats of ishaa (extra challenge: wake up for tahajjud too)
level extreme: if you want an extra extra challenge, you can continue doing each one every day as you go along. so day 1 would be recite surah ikhlas 3 times and day 2 would be recite surah ikhlas and durood sharif 3 times, day 3 would be recite surah ikhlas and durood sharif 3 times and read Qur'an after asr... and you get the gist. if you do this, good luck on day 30 when you have 30 things to do lol
note: giving sadaqah (charity) can be adapted if donating money is a struggle - for eg, doing dhikr on behalf of somebody else can count as sadaqah. click here for more info on this.
may Allah make this challenge easy for whoever intends to participate and let the deeds indeed be multiplied by 100 this ramadan and forgive us for our shortcomings, Ameen ♡

Save what can be saved: Day 15/48
Some days are monotonous, others bring many emotions.
This 48 days productivity challenge made me take so many pictures and track not only my studies but also my thoughts and feelings. I tried journaling before but I found it hard to put everything in words. So pictures DO speak louder than words. That's another reason to love tumblr <3

If I had a nickel for every time I was approached by a random kid on the internet trying to have a theological debate while not accepting "you don't know me and you're not my Imam shut the fuck up we are not having this conversation" for an answer, I would have two nickels

I still 100% unironically wholeheartedly believe that this scuffed ass reality tv show from 2007 where CBS stranded 40 children in the middle of the NM desert a la Lord of the Flies is one of the most genuinely fascinating pieces of TV I've ever watched just because of how ABSURD it is on every level
Tumblr media
-Their society is a bizarre Communism/Democracy hybrid whose entire economy is based on the barter system
-There is a set class system everyone is sorted into against their will who each get paid more or less money depending on how high or low they are on the ladder, and at the end of each episode they must compete in competitions to decide who gets to be at the top, with the "strongest" being able to get the esteemed title of "upper class"
-Every time they would complete a challenge, at the very end they were given a choice of 2 things that could be added to the town, to which the leaders of the teams would vote on which to get (For example, in one episode they had to choose between fresh produce or 50 pizzas). One of these things was letters from the children's parents, implying that the adults on site were receiving the mail from these kid's parents and deliberately withholding it from them
-In one episode the district leaders of each of the 4 teams (the classes) go out and find a chest full of buffalo nickels (the town's currency), they bring the chest to the town and naturally, this creates unprecedented inflation near instantly, as there's now a mass amount of currency that suddenly appeared in the economy
-Their entire society existed in relative stability until the moment religion was introduced in the form of various religious texts (Bibles, the Quran, etc), after which the town immediately started to go to shit. The Jewish kids and Christian kids were at each other's throats about which religion was """better""" (because they're children who had religion forced upon them at a young age before they were able to think for themselves but that's an entire can of worms I won't open), while the 1 (one) Hindu kid was trying to keep the peace
-At one point the kids start to crave meat, as their food up to that point was mostly canned goods and various produce, so one of the """eldest""" members of the group, (I say """eldest""" because he was still only like 14 or 15) who had worked as a butchers apprentice, took one of their chickens and lead the kids into the desert to where he then taught them how to decapitate, pluck, drain, and cook a chicken.
-One of the kids later did a Reddit AMA about his experience on the show, where he then disclosed various things that happened outside of the camera such as, but not limited to: Oil burns, a kid drinking bleach, scorpions, venomous snakes, an outbreak of herpes, the lack of showers, the lack of multiple toilets (up until I believe a few weeks in they only had one outhouse), etc etc etc
-The parents of these kids allegedly had to sign a 22 page waiver that was basically CBS going "If ur kids get hurt you can't sue us", specifically noting "acts of god" in the contract of things that they weren't to be held accountable for
-At the end of every week, the 4 leaders got together to choose which person would receive that week's "gold star", a star made out of 20,000 USD of solid gold (around 30k after adjusting for inflation), an unfathomable amount of money to give to kids who likely had no concept as to how much money 20 grand was
-The town used for Bonanza City is actually a ghost town/film set located just 20 miles from Santa Fe used as a filming location for movies like A Million Ways to Die In the West (2014) and The Legend of the Lone Ranger (1981). The reason I bring this up is because it's the same film set in which 14 years later, Alec Baldwin would accidentally discharge a firearm on the set of Rust, resulting in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins
To anyone asking where to watch this, I genuinely don't know. All of the 13 episodes used to be available on YouTube by someone who re-uploaded them in 2010, but the channel was terminated last year. I've heard that there are a few Google Drive folders floating around that have the raw MP4 files and you could watch them that way but you'd probably have to go digging for it

How Did Brazil’s Biggest Slave Revolt Start❓
The Malê Revolt, occurring in Salvador, Brazil, on January 25, 1835, was the biggest slave uprising in Brazil and was driven by a strong influence of Islam.
It involved predominantly Muslim African slaves, mainly from the Nagô ethnic group, but also included Hausa and Tapa (Nupes) Africans.
The revolt’s name, “Malê,” derived from “imalê,” a Yoruba word for Muslim, underscoring the central role of Islam.
About 600 enslaved Africans, most of whom were Muslims, participated in the revolt.
They planned the uprising to coincide with the end of Ramadan, and the commemoration of the Quran’s revelation to Prophet Muhammad.
This timing highlights the deep connection between the revolt and Islamic beliefs.
The rebels, identifiable by their white ‘abadás’ (Yoruba), traditional Muslim garments, and amulets inscribed with Quranic verses, were led by prominent figures like Ahuna and Pacifico Licutan.
However, the revolt was prematurely discovered and resulted in a brutal conflict that led to numerous casualties.
The aftermath saw harsh punishments, including executions, reflecting the severe consequences for challenging the colonial system.
This revolt stands out in Brazilian history, showcasing the resilience and faith of the Muslim slave community in the face of oppression.
It also intensified the fear among slave owners of a potential large-scale rebellion, akin to the Haitian Revolution, driven by religious fervor.

More than two months into Israel's war against Hamas, the militant group's popularity appears to be rising dramatically among Palestinians in the West Bank. "Hamas made the most important action against Israel since its existence," says Nihad Abughosh, a Palestinian journalist and political analyst, who describes himself as a secular moderate.[...]
"Palestinians do not support the harming of innocents," Quran says. "From the first day, there was a question on many Palestinians' minds: [are Israeli claims of militant violence against civilians on 7 Oct] all true?" Quran says he supports a peaceful resolution to the war. But he believes many Palestinians now see Hamas as a symbol of strength and defiance against Israel's occupation. "This idea that Gaza, after 17 years of blockade, was capable of challenging the blockade, challenging the military occupation, was seen as an inspiring act of resistance," he says.[...]
"Three months ago ... we had 12% support for Hamas in the West Bank, and today it is 44%, so that's more than tripled," says Khalil Shikaki, director of the Palestinian Center for Policy and Research.
Public support for Hamas in the Gaza Strip also rose modestly during the same period, from 38% to 42%, according to the center's survey conducted from Nov. 22-Dec. 2. The survey, published Dec. 13, found less than half of Palestinians support Hamas as an organization, but respondents showed "wide public support for Hamas' offensive" against Israel. A previous poll conducted by the group Arab World for Research and Development in late October and early November found 68% of Palestinians in the West Bank supported Hamas' Oct. 7 attack.
People in the West Bank say there's another reason Hamas' brand has surged in popularity. In November, Israel agreed to release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails, many of them held without criminal charges, in exchange for Hamas freeing some of the hostages taken during the Oct. 7 attack.
To many Palestinians, that deal represented another victory for Hamas, another sign of strength.[...]
Even many moderates say the time has come for Hamas' militant, armed approach to resistance and confrontation with Israel. They also say the more moderate Palestinian Authority — the official government of the West Bank, which still supports a negotiated "political" settlement with Israel — has seen its popular support collapse in recent years, in part because of what many Palestinians view as collaboration with Israeli security officials.[...]
In the West Bank, too, there has been increased violence by Israeli settlers and more aggressive Israeli military raids into refugee camps that have killed more than 290 Palestinians since Oct. 7, according to United Nations figures. "The nonstop violence is really radicalizing all Palestinian society," says Quran, who himself is not a supporter of Hamas and supports a nonviolent end to the war.
"Basically, the people do not feel safe around anyone who even professes support for Israel."

Reading Quran Translation
So the first 30-day challenge that I'm doing for the next 30 days is reading the Quran translation.
A bit of my background: I was born in a Muslim family and in a Muslim-majority society. Growing up we, as muslims, were encouraged to read the whole Quran in its original language. We do learn some verses with the translation and interpretation, but only some, here and there. Reading the Quran in its original (Arabic) language is often considered more important and rewarding.
But this Ramadan I want to dedicate myself to read the whole translation. Perhaps it can help me build a deeper connection with the Quran. Each day I'm gonna post some points that I think might be interesting as snippets of what I read. The Quran consists of 30 Juz and I'm planning to read 1 Juz' each day. Hopefully I could give you an update everyday.
I am using a Quran with translation to Indonesian, because it is my native language, but I'll try my best to write the next posts in English.
Anyways, Ramadan Mubarak to all Muslims who are going through this holy month. I hope you're in a good health to get the most out of this Ramadan.

Kashmir, a region with a captivating ethnic diversity, is home to many fascinating communities. Parveena and her daughter, Rubeena, are part of an ethnic group known as Gujjar. During the summer, they live high in the mountains alongside their cattle, surrounded by the beauty of nature. However, as winter approaches, they migrate to the warmer valleys. The life of these people is challenging, but, like many traditional communities, they maintain a deep connection with spirituality, which gives them strength and hope. For instance, little Rubeena wears a Ta’wiz around her neck, a special amulet containing a few verses from the Quran.

🎀30 Day Glow Up Challenge🎀 - day thirteen
♡ Mindset : I deal with seasonal depression and even though I am on anti depressants I’ve made it a habit to walk for 10 minutes in the morning or afternoon today I waited a little to late and I felt myself getting sad. I was going to procrastinate but when I was watching one of my fav lifestyle YouTubers she motivated me to get up and go for my walk. As I walked I read a book and thought about my day and the progress I am making in my glow up journey.
♡ Health : I went grocery shopping yesterday and I bought a sweet cranberry kale salad kit. I loveee this salad kit I usually get it from Costco but I purchased it from ShopRite it was so good I had it for dinner with my rotisserie chicken and I added two serving sizes of feta such a bomb salad. I’ve been creating a Pinterest board for meal ideas and healthy meal plans.
♡ Self Care : when I went on my walk I decided to stop by dollar tree to look for a new journal. I want to start Quran journaling. I didn’t find any good journals sadly but I did pick up a foot mask I’ll be using that tomorrow. I needed that for a fact.
♡ Experience : I loveeee Pinterest so much like I have so many different boards and pins that I love so much and there are so many amazing creators on Pinterest who also have Tumblr pages. So I’ve been working on my Pinterest page for this blog and I can’t wait to share my Pinterest page once everything is done and uploaded.
Sorry I missed yesterdays upload I was a little overwhelmed posting everyday and needed a break. Tell me how you’re doing babes I would love to know my inbox and requests are open<33333

When a person chooses righteousness, Allah promises to rescue them from even the toughest situations. No matter how challenging life becomes—surrounded by darkness, paths seeming blocked, finding no solace, and facing difficulties alone—despite giving countless reasons, one might feel abandoned, as if the earth has become tight for them. They may experience a loneliness where not a single hand reaches out, but at that moment, Allah assures that if there is a light of righteousness in their heart, He will provide a way out of every difficulty, turning obstacles into means of relief.
And whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out (Quran 65:2)

Amidst the oppression and injustice faced by the Palestinian people, Palestinian women live a harsh reality that demands resilience and daily struggle. Their daily lives are filled with hardships and challenges that compel them to be an integral part of the fighters for justice and freedom.
In this context, the daily life of a Palestinian activist serves as a testimony to a bitter reality, yet one that is filled with hope and resilience. Palestinian women embody a symbol of strength and will in the face of oppression and sacrifice for a national cause that is rooted in sacrifice and steadfastness.
As the beautiful sun rises over Palestine, a Palestinian activist awakens with a heart filled with hope and resilience. She begins her day with prayer and Quran reading, uttering prayers for peace and freedom for her people. Proudly and steadfastly wearing her hijab, she prepares to face the difficult circumstances that she encounters in her struggle.
Amidst household chores and preparations to confront the harsh reality, she holds a deep yearning for her land and people within her. She still embraces the hope of realizing the dream of freedom and justice, drawing inspiration from the sacrifices of martyrs and past activists.
Our Palestinian activist navigates her day with confidence and determination, overcoming the challenges of siege and occupation with unwavering resolve. She participates in cultural and social activities aimed at promoting Palestinian identity and preserving national heritage and culture.
While the smell of anger and frustration dominates the streets, our Palestinian activist stands as a shining candle illuminating the path of resilience and defiance. She feels the pain every time she witnesses a new oppression or receives news of the death of a martyr, but she defies the circumstances and strengthens her resolve in partnership with her companions in steadfastness.
Our activist participates in protest events and peaceful demonstrations, raising the Palestinian flag and chanting for freedom and dignity, defending the people's right to live in dignity and freedom in their occupied land. She continues the struggle with strength and steadfastness, living every moment as a devoted Palestinian activist.
Amidst this harsh reality, our Palestinian activist learns from her challenges and pain, learning that resilience and steadfastness are her strongest weapons in the face of injustice and oppression. She draws strength from the history of her people and from the resilience of Palestinian women who preceded her in the struggle.
Amidst the ongoing conflict and daily challenges, she renews her commitment to every member of her people, living today for the Palestinian individual and for the future generations. She learns that education, raising awareness, and continuing the struggle are the only way to achieve the legitimate Palestinian dream.
Our Palestinian activist carries hope in her heart and believes in her people's ability to achieve the legitimate dream through justice and freedom. Every glance in her daily life becomes a new trajectory in the struggle as she continues to shape the present and future with unwavering determination and solid will.
In every glance in her daily life, our Palestinian activist becomes a true story of resilience and struggle, written with the pens of martyrs' blood and tears of redemption. She lives in hope and surpasses despair, sacrifices for peace and justice, and continues her struggle with unwavering determination and faith that truth and justice will ultimately prevail.
Our Palestinian activist dreams of a day when her land will enjoy peace and freedom, where her people will live with dignity and prosperity. She believes that struggle and sacrifice will bring the dream into reality, and her people will move towards a better future through their free will and steadfastness.
In the daily life of a Palestinian activist, the story of resilience and defiance is embodied, turning dreams into reality through the determination and steadfastness of Palestinian women and every member of the people. This glance writes a new story every day of a struggle where justice and freedom are realized, and the people live in freedom and dignity in their occupied land.
