Day 2
Disclaimer: I am not a scholar or a professional who studies religion. The points I am giving are just some snippets from the Quran which I found interesting. If you want to know more about the context, I'd suggest you to read the Quran—or maybe the tafsir (explanation) in your native language.
Juz' 2
• Further explanation about history of the qibla (direction towards Kaaba in Mecca, which is used by Muslims as the directiom of prayer for the salah).
• Allah tests and tries His servants.
• Sa'i (ritual of walking back and forth seven times between  two small hills of Safa and Marwa).
• The order to eat halal things and explanation of what is prohibited and what is not.
• The order to practice qisas ("eye for an eye") and wasiat (a will before death).
• The order to practice fasting during Ramadan.
• The command to fight those who fight muslims. This is said to probably be the most misquoted verse from the Quran.
• Command to complete Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) and Umrah.
• Prohibition of khamr (alcoholic drink) and gambling.
• Charity and who has the rights to receive it.
• Prohibition of sexual intercourse with menstruating women.
• About divorce.
• Command that prayer should be performed properly and on time.
• Story of Prophet Shammil (Samuel) and Israelites and King Talut (Saul), and how Prophet Dawud (David) killed Jalut (Goliath).

Day 1
Disclaimer: I am not a scholar or a professional who studies religion. The points I am giving are just some snippets from the Quran which I found interesting. If you want to know more about the context, I'd suggest you to read the Quran—or maybe the tafsir (explanation) in your native language.
Juz' 1
Some interesting points:
• Introduction to Islam, especially about Salah (prayer) dan Zakat (almsgiving).
• Kafir (unbeliever, someone who disbelieves God as per Islam) and also someone who says they believe but they don't, and the consequences.
• People who make mischief on earth.
• Story of Prophet Adam and Hawa and how they ended up on earth.
• Children of Israel (this is mentioned a lot), people of Pharaoh, and Prophet Musa (Moses).
• Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerussalem). Funfact: there was a time when Muslims pray in this direction instead of facing Kaaba (in Mecca).
• Female cow (the literal translation of Al-Baqara, title of the chapter) has something to do with Moses and Children of Israel.
• Brief mention of Prophet Sulaiman (Solomon) and Babylon.
• Story of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham).
• Brief mention of Prophet Ismail (Ishmael), Prophet Ishak (Isaac), and Prophet Yakub (Jacob).

Reading Quran Translation
So the first 30-day challenge that I'm doing for the next 30 days is reading the Quran translation.
A bit of my background: I was born in a Muslim family and in a Muslim-majority society. Growing up we, as muslims, were encouraged to read the whole Quran in its original language. We do learn some verses with the translation and interpretation, but only some, here and there. Reading the Quran in its original (Arabic) language is often considered more important and rewarding.
But this Ramadan I want to dedicate myself to read the whole translation. Perhaps it can help me build a deeper connection with the Quran. Each day I'm gonna post some points that I think might be interesting as snippets of what I read. The Quran consists of 30 Juz and I'm planning to read 1 Juz' each day. Hopefully I could give you an update everyday.
I am using a Quran with translation to Indonesian, because it is my native language, but I'll try my best to write the next posts in English.
Anyways, Ramadan Mubarak to all Muslims who are going through this holy month. I hope you're in a good health to get the most out of this Ramadan.

30-Day Challenge
Hello there! Welcome to Ikiweekly!
You can call me Kiki. I am going to be the guinea pig for the next posts. 🐹
My plan is to focus on one specific goal for 30 days. I’ll try my best to finish it in 30 days, but there is no guarantee, because I am also a student in the last semester who has tons of obligations. I might also take breaks between goals. I’ll update on the progress of each project every single day.
This project is inspired by a post on Medium a few years ago. I had lived quite a mundane life for the past couple of years and at times I started having existential crisis. My goal with this project is to find some meaning and purpose in life, make the most out of the skills that I have always wanted to master, and beat my chronic procrastination.
My first 30-day challenge will start very soon. If you’re interested in this project, you can definitely follow this tumblr account.
Cheerio!
