Blob Meditation

It was no surprise that Sam had the worst temper among the three of them, Danny thought it was because she worried too much, Tucker thought it was accumulative stress. The thing is, nothing she did helped with calm her down, which was why she suggested her friends to leave her alone for a few minutes, she didn't want to punch them.

They agreed and Sam sat on the castle stairs, she was stressed about her parents, college and Danny's safety. She was thinking about how to get him to move with them to Gotham, where Jazz was working but Danny wasn't comfortable with that. He wanted to help as much as they did, and it was obvious he wouldn't be able to contribute anything if he moved.

The fact that he had to hide from vigilantes who never paid him any attention before also frustrated him.

As she was thinking, some blob ghosts came bounding up to her, she pushed them away and continued on, but they swarmed and enveloped her. In a few seconds all her stress was gone and Sam looked at the blobs in dismay, though they gave her an idea.

Frostbite commented to her that the Blob ghosts were relaxing due to the fact that they purify, negative emotions were part of that. Sam smiled and offered Danny his business idea, the halfa looked at Sam doubtfully but hesitantly accepted.

Soon there was a new business popping up in Gotham. A relaxation and meditation center run by a young man, although it seemed to have a confidentiality agreement if you became a member. Strangely, both Rogues and regular people were attending.

The Batfamily became suspicious and sent Red Hood to investigate. A few days later, Jason was a member and was as calm as they had seen him in years, not even angry with Tim or calling him replacement for a whole week. Bruce began to worry that he had been caught in some kind of mind control.

Sam was happy that the business turned out good, seeing the room full of Blob ghosts was not surprising, they all floated around Danny and his "clients" happily, she guessed they were feeding well, Danny also seemed happy to contribute something to pay his University and their shared department so everyone was winning.

The Little Sisters of Purification, space marine chapter from Roger Hamlin's scenario "Sunstroke" in Challenge #36, "GDW's Magazine of Futuristic Gaming," 1988, illustrated by Tim Bradstreet.

Early White Dwarf had run many articles about Traveller; here GDW returns the favor in their own magazine that was a successor to The Journal of the Traveller's Aid Society. This "refereed Warhammer: 40,000 scenario for a small unit of Space Marines and opponents" is just one example of the highly imaginative directions players were taking 40K in the Rogue Trader days. This one has a lot of backstory and suggested modeling to run it as written -- 15 space marines from a new chapter, 20 Jokaeros (one of whom actually is a vampire in disguise), and an ancient Slann base on an asteroid protected by forcefields inside a sun.

Solarpunk Aesthetic: Brazilian Clay Water Filters

I dithered a lot trying to decide on something to post about for Solarpunk Aesthetic Week, but at the end of the day I'm a Brazilian and I like to talk about Brazilian things... so here are some Brazilian Red Clay Water Filters! These are considered to this day one of the most reliable water purification systems in the world, and used to be very popular in the past all over Brazil before the rise of mineral water coolers in the 90s and early 2000s. The Red Clay keeps the water cool and they use a ceramic candle to filter water.

Nowadays, Red Clay filters live mostly in our memories of Brazil in the 80s or 90s (and in memes like "this represents Brazil more than Samba or caipirinha"), although there has been a bit of revival as design pieces, which is why these pictures are all decorated or integrated with planters. You can still find functional models like this for sale, however. But I believe Red Clay Water Filters belong in a concept of Brazilian Solarpunk for two reasons:

Although I couldn't find sources for the claim, it's widely believed here that this model was created in Brazil, with some speculation that the use of Red Clay and the characteristic shape of the filter originate from the use of red clay in ceramics by different indigenous cultures in Brazil (there is a type of water jug called moringa that evokes the idea of a red clay filter and has been around for centuries)

Brazil has a long history of water insecurity and poor sanitation all over the country, but personally I am more familiar with this issue in Northeast Brazil, where a combination of a challenging environment (especially in the sertão) and historical neglect by the government means the population in the rural areas was constantly facing intense droughts every dry season. In this context, I consider the existence of a reliable system of water filtration an essential aspect of Northeast Brazil's culture of resistance

This got a bit long, but I hope it made for an interesting read for anyone taking part in Solarpunk Aesthetic Week, or who just ended up here by chance. I mostly engage with Solarpunk through original fiction (still unpublished), but because of my introduction to it it's very hard to separate the aesthetic and movement from my own culture. I’ve been thinking a lot about Laurence’s eyes changing color and then I was cooking on a gas stove and then I saw the flames. And they were Blue. They reminded me of Laurance’s eyes. And then I started thinking.

What if all Shadow Knight’s eyes change color? And that has some sort of link to their internal power level? Like how effective their soul is as fuel for whatever necromancy they’re experiencing?

And it wouldn’t just have to be limited to the red (low tier/cooler flames) to white (high tier/hottest flames) color spectrum because different materials can cause different flame colors. For example, cesium and potassium create purple hued flames, like Sasha’s eye color. But then the question becomes what causes different souls to act as a different material?

I don’t know yet! Maybe magicks in the soul could act as a sort of differing fuel source, or maybe feelings when turned could influence it, I dunno! Open to anyone’s thoughts though!

Anyway of course this then leads to a sort of built in caste system with the Shadow Knights. Bottom of the barrel, weak, disposable, would be shades of red. This is where I imagine Zenix may actually land, just...add to his Issues. Then it goes to orange which may be moreso the norm/standard color most knights have, yellow, and then white which is the most powerful and revered.

And then it comes to blue flames, they only occur when there’s a differing material, or when minimal soot and carbon dioxide are at play, so in a way you could say blue flame occurs when the flame is...pure. Irene’s blessing could not reverse what happened to Laurance, but it could purify it.

I’m really struggling to realize self when all I feel is sadness for a variety of reasons. One is the fact that I know this information and don’t apply it “correctly” the other is feeling detached from everything else but the heartbreak I endured this year from an ex and failing to detach myself and accept it or the situations that caused pain from it

I understand, I was like you a few months ago. There were some painful things that no matter how much I tried to tell myself it wasn't real, it just had too much of an emotional charge and imprint to let go of and detach from. This is where I felt I had to deviate from 4dbarbie and find my own way to address this - ignoring it didn't feel right and kept me stuck. I really recommend you read this post first of all which describes what I did to let go of them. And here's an exercise you can do for releasing those (so long it's not something that will retraumatize you if you bring it up, if this is the case, I highly recommend going to a therapist for help for these):

Find a nice quiet private space where you are free to be as emotional as you can be. You can do this exercise while sitting or even lying down, whatever feels comfortable.

Deliberately think of whatever hurts or bothers you - it's okay, you're doing this to let go of them for good and be free. They aren't here anymore. It's not in the present anymore.

(this can be done during/after step 4 or 5 if you feel unable to accept it at the start, do what feels right) Accept what has happened. Accept there's nothing you can do to change what happened and let go of wanting to change anything. It is what it is. All you can choose now is to be free of it and let it go for good. Accept whoever/whatever hurt you as they are. If you have any grievances/regrets/grudges or such, choose to let it go and forgive everything including yourself (I highly recommend you read this post for why this is helpful as it's very relevant to your question too). Accept yourself as you were then and are now. Accept everything as it is.

Notice the thoughts, emotions and sensations that come up - don't deny or resist them, let them come up and let them be. You can cry or get angry, it's okay. Accept them all without identifying with them, it's just old stuff coming up to be released. Just keep your awareness on those sensations and watch them.

Imagine there's a window from your body where you feel the emotions/pain/resistance/sensations and that you're inviting and allowing them to leave - you don't need to force it to leave, it will leave or dissolve on its own as you continue watching it and letting everything be. You can imagine it all leaving in coloured smoke if you'd like, whatever colour feels appropriate and comes to mind. It's just energy leaving your body. (I did this in therapy a few years ago and it actually helped me release some major things that I hadn't been able to do so any other way)

Keep doing this until it's all gone and you feel nothing when you think of whatever was bothering you, what's left is peace :)

It's not necessary to do this for every single thing, just what you feel unable to let go of no matter how hard you try. At some point you'll find a lot of peace and quiet inside (this will also help quiet the mind a lot) and then you'll intuitively know when you're ready to completely detach from everything.
