I bailed from Forbidden Love when it was airing because it was boring and didn’t feel like the novel but I randomly peeked at a late ep and sometime between my bailing and the end, it went seriously hardcore unhinged and my jaw dropped open!

CATCHING MY BREATH, STARING OUT AN OPEN WINDOW

James ‘Slightly’ Zhao is based on Slightly from Peter Pan. He is a 27 year old human, aspiring musician, and uses he/him pronouns. He has no powers. James is portrayed by Wang Ziyi and he is taken.

CATCHING MY DEATH, AND I COULDN’T BE SURE

Despite what he claims, Slightly doesn’t remember much before becoming a Lost Boy. However, he prides himself on knowing more than the other Lost Boys, putting together clues on the clothing he wore such as the words ‘Slightly Soiled’ being written on them and pretending to have the answers to all of the boy’s questions, even if he isn’t entirely confident that he’s right. He didn’t think he was better than the rest of the boys, per se, as they all knew that Peter was the best of them all but… he thought highly of himself and believed himself to be the most intelligent and most loyal follower. He had to give himself something to work with— all the other boys were good at the games they’d all play, had wild imaginations, told better jokes than Slightly ever could, were more skilled in fighting off pirates… knowing the most was all he really had to make himself feel included and useful to the group. When Wendy, Michael and George joined the Lost Boys and Peter on the island, Slightly felt even more ostracized than normal. He turned to music as a distraction, especially when Wendy would constantly correct the things about the mainland that Slightly had convinced himself and the other’s to believe to be the truth, and he’d go off into the woods and carve all kinds of strange instruments and play them to himself. Slightly was one of the only Lost Boy’s to not really bat an eye when Wendy went missing, making a comment about how “no one was around to correct him anymore”, but he was too loyal to Peter to refuse to accompany them in their search for her. When the Boys got to the mainland and, in turn, ended up in Evermore… Slightly was made deeply aware of how wrong he was about the life he thought he had lived, and how Wendy had been right about everything. His memories of life before Evermore began to fade in and out, confused and frustrated with how he really didn’t know anything about …. well, anything. Whilst the other’s found their footing, taking their new names and new home in stride, Slightly turned back to the thing that had brought him comfort, music, and decided to make that his new focus. The one thing he truly knew everything about.

I HAD A FEELING SO PECULIAR

❀ Robbie Valentino: The kid is kind of a bummer sometimes but, Slightly finds some strange comfort in his company and enjoys playing music with him. He often find himself getting into deep conversations with Robbie about life, and the parts of it that suck. ❀ Drizella Tremaine: Whilst she may not be the most skilled singer, or the nicest person, Slightly enjoys accompanying her musical escapades regardless. It helps that she’s pretty… like, really helps. ❀ Tyler Toivonen: Tyler has a lot of energy, and is the optimism that Slightly needs in his life. His energy would have made him a great Lost Boy, and Slightly isn’t sure if he likes that about him or loathes him for it.
