Italians have this weird cult of carbonara. Americans have a veneration for aged hard cheese. In both cases, if you *dare* to say that you don't like carbonara or that pecorino tastes bad they will get mad at you: they will try to gaslight you, saying that's not true, that your personal tastes doesn't matter, because they are right, carbonara and pecorino are delicious and you... you just didn't taste the *right* version of the receipt. No, dear, Piercoso and Bob Lee, I don't like both carbonara and aged hard cheese, because i found them absolutely disgusting.

the irony of nat going out for hours every single day to hunt food for a group of girls who do absolutely nothing but sit around and hallucinate all day only for the same girls who have never hunted a day in their lives to not even hesitate in grabbing spears and weapons to hunt her

one major difference i have found between service industry work (in my case food service but this is widely applicable to similar jobs) and other public-facing positions is that the job itself is often very similar because people is the same, it's just in service everyone approaches you already thinking they're right and you're a fucking idiot and its their god given right to disrespect you, where in other positions even if they are not nice to you they usually acknowledge that you know more than them on issues pertaining to your job. like the difference in behaviour from people who see you as serving them vs helping them is unreal. i am doing literally the exact same things. customer is always right mentality did irreparable damage to the fabric of society

one of these days i'm going to write a long post about how fe3h loves to have its cake and eat it too, wrt character and plot depth
every character can be boiled down to a few-word outline, an easily-marketable trope -- which is then detailed and developed on. with more or less success and thoroughness, there is thought and care put into what kind of person inhabits that trope, and what it feels like to be them; the character is fleshed out within the confines that marketability allows
but their trope is still the defining structure, and you don't have to look any deeper; the narrative won't force you unless you go looking for it

i wish ppl would stop talking abt canadian healthcare like it’s some sort of utopian socialist system because liek. it’s not. categorically, canadian healthcare is not free
yeah I can show up to the hospital with a broken arm and get it fixed without paying but you know what WASN’T free? the physiotherapy I had to go to in order to regain the ability to use my arm. nor the prescription medications to manage my chronic pain or various mental illnesses. nor the physio my dad needed to get after he was pumped full of drugs during recovery from cancer that gave him nerve pain. nor his chiropractic visits. nor my eyeglasses or his lasik. yeah, I can go to the hospital and enroll in their dbt program, but the waitlist is TWO AND A HALF YEARS LONG. people can and have killed themselves waiting for care here. but don’t worry, medical assistance in dying is totally covered! your landlord won’t upgrade your inaccessible apartment and disability pay has you orders of magnitude below the poverty line? no problem! oh, no, we’re not going to give you a rent suppliment. have you considered state sponsored suicide?

as a hard of hearing girly since birth it was honestly so validating the first time i took an ASL class and found out that it's considered very rude in Deaf culture to be like "never mind, it's not important" when someone asks you to repeat something, thereby excluding them from the conversation. like it's not the worst or most impactful part of having a hearing disability by a long shot but hearing people can be so thoughtless about how bad it sucks to feel like no one else places value on your ability to participate in communal/social life and bonding and they are fine with you sitting in a corner feeling confused and dismissed and excluded
