Since Ao3 is down, you may be thinking about how you can finish the fic you were reading, or find a new one! Well I have a solution

The Passerine Podcast

The Passerine podcast is a great channel, and while I personally don't know the person behind it, I greatly appreciate them! They function as an audiobook channel, with many fics that they've read. Their voice is very soothing aswell! So the channel is great if your looking to fall asleep too!

Most of the fics are SBI, starting with our beloved Passerine, the namesake, but including some of my favorites TommyInnit's Clinic for Supervillans a SBI Superhero AU, Under The Brine a short horror Crimeboys AU, and His Curse of Binding, a SBI fic they just finished, which is about greek myths, rebirth, and lots of hurt/comfort (good if hurt is your comfort), but there are many more, Such as Bones In the Ocean, Icing Those Hurts, De Terra and Ad Astra, Theres Always More, and a few more!

late to the oh hellos conversation but how does one listen to soldier post king and NOT hear it’s a Christian song about Jesus as Messiah. “Smeared with oil like David’s boy” did you listen to Hallelujah and think “wow I wonder who this is about ^-^ definitely not the temptation of David and Samson and the complicated ways women are both glorified and vilified in the Bible”

Anyways that is to say I recently started listening to the Oh Hellos and realizing how much of their music is rooted in religious imagery or themes.

no it’s definitely not another case of that. as someone who BARELY paid attention in church. it’s still so easy to pick up on for like 95% of their songs. as i said people can interpret them however they want when it comes down to it. that’s kinda the point. but how do you miss the fact that it’s originally heavily religious.

my favorite version of this phenomena is people adding passerine to their ctommy playlists. because like. as someone who loves the song and has analyzed it heavily in the context of the smp. it could relate to ctommy. but i KNOW that 99% of people aren’t adding it because of that. and i KNOW they’d be shocked to high hell if i told them what the song is actually supposed to be about. and that keeps me going in life tbh

i got back into dsmp recently and your fics were the first ones I considered rereading. ended up relistening to passerine podcast's reading of tcfs and it was really nice to experience the story again :) your fics have been a huge comfort and inspiration to me and I'm happy to see that you're still writing these characters, even after everything that's happened in the fandom.

No bc I spent my teenage years on a YouTube where a fun video would be ‘reacting to our FANFIC???’ and that was fun but also. And then there’s Quackity’s old fanfic streams, which were also kinda fun if you ignore gnf. And then there’s sp7 back in the day talking on their podcast about reading fanfics of their series and that was scary for me because I wrote a LOT of it lol. And then there’s Max with everything he did last fall with fanfic which was. Whatever. And then there’s whatever the hell passerine was in the dsmp fandom.

But that’s all creators specifically searching out fanfiction. It’s on them. What y’all never need to do is directly talk about fics to cc’s faces because that shit is MORTIFYING and nobody needs to be doing it? It’s different from fanart okay? Chill lol

if you’re into audiobooks i highly suggest you check out passerine podcast’s readings of ad astra and de terra on youtube. haven’t listened to those ones personally but all their other readings are awesome so i’m sure those ones are good too

oh neat!!! im not much of an audiobook person but knowing that audiobook versions exist out there for people makes me so happy because now more people can learn about my favorite fic ever

Oh my gods Passerine Podcast is gonna read Under the Brine by @bonesandthebees the next few days!!! this is an epic win for me.

If you like some great horror and crimeboys but don't find the motivation to/ can't read I recommend listening to it! Passerine podcast does an amazing job with reading fanfiction and I wholeheartedly recommend you check the channel out.

Also tagging @lmk-vibes since they were the first person to make me aware of this fic in the first place.

U should read His curse of binding its on AO3 and its a foster AU for SBI and its greek mythology and there is so much fucking angst but its really good!!

Theres a person of YouTube that reads it their name is Passerine Podcast and they’re super good they also have Passerine, TCFSV, De Terra, and they are currently reading ‘Changing fate by being aggressively kind’ and I highly recommend them and their discord server is really nice-🍄

also ive heard of them before!! i considered listening for TCFSV but i actually dont really enjoy audiobooks? my auditory processing is REALLY bad so i. get lost easily when listening to people tell stories or read them

your specialty as a fic writer to me is writing scenes that hit emotionally hard and then doubling down on it via repetition, because a lot of people can write sad scenes in a story, but the way you do it makes it completely impossible to push them to the back of your mind to try and not cry in public, it makes you think youre in the safe zone and no more tears are coming, only to be hit by a line that makes everything flood back, it forces you to feel the characters grief in a way ive never seen done before and i really appreciate that about your writing style

the other day i clicked on a podcast for ´´mockingbird´´, not knowing it was by you, but the writing style inmediately gave it away and i ended up crying in record time

sorry for the ramble haha, but your writing is very important to me and youve been such a huge inspiration ever since i discovered passerine, much love <3
