Star Trek Discovery's last season should have the hinted romance with Owo and Detmer happen. Scrap whatever else they had planned for the show, let's do ten episodes on just this.
They can get adopted by Culber and Stamets into the gay space family which then becomes the focus of the next Trek spin-off.

Chapter Summary: Saru and Tilly struggle with guilt. Pike's condition worsens.
Excerpt: Discovery
It was midnight by ship’s time.
Work continued around the clock. Shields were again at full strength. Both internal and external comms remained inoperable forcing the crew to rely on runners and communicators. Tomorrow they would test the repaired spore drive. The warp and impulse engines had suffered the heaviest damage. Their restoration remained a couple of days away.
Michael had the bridge and would deal with anything urgent.
Sleep, which Saru once could summon at will, remained elusive. Another side effect of his Vahar'ai. In its stead the sequence of events played over and over in his mind, like an unwelcome song you cannot get out of your head. Owo reporting the passing meteor. Detmer adjusting course. The space rock bouncing off the shuttle’s shields and exploding, vaporizing everything in a wide radius including Keyla, Bonnie, and Jett.

Story Summary:
Discovery’s crew is curious about Christopher Pike's background, especially his early missions shrouded in secrecy and his atypical medical skills. After all why would a starship captain be honored with the prestigious Carrington Award bestowed by the Federation Council for a lifetime’s excellence in medicine?
Tilly has a serious and secret (so she believes) crush on Discovery’s temporary commander, Christopher Pike. Saru’s Vahar'ai has triggered his species version of puberty with Pike serving as a stand-in father figure. Pike has a second and secret mission on Discovery in addition to sorting out the mystery of the seven signals. Restless while Enterprise is docked for repairs, Una takes a vacation.
This is hurt/comfort story of dangers, heroics, rescues, awkward situations, getting to know your crewmates, friendship, dating, romance, and the trajectory of first love for a young girl as she finds her place in her chosen profession. As well as the stranded in a cave during a storm trope. Pike whump. And a shirtless Pike stripped to his underwear.
Characters: Pike, Tilly, Saru, Michael, Reno, Detmer, Pollard, Stamets, Na’an, and the rest of the Discovery crew, Una Chin-Riley, and original supporting characters.

ST Discovery spoilers ahead!
Let's overanalyze!
So, I watched the finale and I only have two questions about the 3rd season:
First:
They actually explicitly said that capitalism is the big bad? Explicitly? Of course, Star Trek always alluded to the fact that the Federation is about space communism. They hinted, joked, danced around, made Rom quote Marx, but I never dared dream that I will see the day when this scene appears on my Netflix screen.
Let's begin with a round of applause for the brilliant dialogue about apples made of shit -
Osyraa: If the Chain is to unite with the Federation, you need to send a message that our culture is fundamentally valid and ethical.
Vance: And how are we supposed to do that?
Osyraa: By acknowledging that capitalism is already happening within the Federation.
Osyraa is hoping that Vance will go for a reformist approach, as she had to spend "a lot of political capital" to pass an amendment outlawing slavery. (Cue to the smallest violin). When Vance asks about other concessions, she goes:
Osyraa: You're asking very powerful people to give up huge amounts of income.
Sounds familiar? We hear it every fucking day when Jeff Bezos decides not to end world hunger.
And most importantly, Vance turns her down. It is possible to interpret this as Vance wanting her to be tried for her crimes, but, I think, it's only part of it, the real reason is broader. There's no way that the Federation, the ultimate metaphor for the bright future, can accept capitalism as a "fundamentally valid and ethical culture". There can be no fucking compromise.
And for this I salute ST: Discovery. The creators have some fucking balls. The first openly gay loving couple in the franchise, trans representation, strong racial diversity, all of which are not solely a plot device, and now explicit acknowledment that capitalism is not the solution, and this time not in a form of a silly joke which looks more like an anti-Semitic allegory than a genuine statement, as was the case with the Ferengi. Discovery is boldly going, making a social commentary which reminds me once again about the revolutionary power of art. And this fucking slaps. What a time to be alive!
Second question, though: is Owo/Detmer a thing?
I am hyped to no end for the next season!

Headcanon: Joann wants to bake Keyla a cake for her birthday, but like, actually bake it, not get it from the replicator.
She uses the replicator for the tools and ingredients but bakes the most gooey, decadent chocolate cake by hand because her grandma back on Earth always said the best cakes are baked with love, and she so wants Keyla to know she is loved.
