“Here, like this.”
Sanji took to standing behind you, wrapping his arms around you to place his hands on yours, guiding you through the proper motions to chop a carrot as evenly as he did. You couldn’t help but notice how his biceps flexed against your own, how he smelled of the bath he took this morning, the light caress of his breath on your neck. It was nearly overwhelming. You had to hyperfocus on the task in front of you so to not zone out and chop off a finger.
The carrots now chopped, Sanji’s excuse to wrap himself around you was gone. Reluctantly, he took a step back; you weren’t sure if the sudden coldness you were feeling was disappointment at his lack of proximity.
“Okay,” he started, his voice a little shaken; you wondered – was that because of you? “breakfast’s about as good as done. Do you want to call everyone in?”
“Sure,” you agreed, earning yourself one of Sanji’s beautiful, deep-dimpled smiles.
Gathering the crew for breakfast was rarely a hassle; you were often tasked with the mission after helping Sanji prep breakfast, and so, you already knew everyone’s routines and where to find them. Luffy was usually nearby the kitchen somewhere, ready to pounce on breakfast the moment Sanji permitted; Nami could be found on deck, drawing maps of where you’ve been; Usopp was a bit less predictable, but he’d usually find you as you were making the rounds. And then there was Zoro – which, you learned, was not a morning person.
While Sanji was up at the crack of dawn, already dressed to the nines and on his feet working in the kitchen, Zoro would sleep in until forced out of bed. They really were polar opposites.
This morning was no different; you knocked twice on Zoro’s door before letting yourself in. You smiled at the sight of his sleeping form, splayed across the bed, limbs tangled in his sheets – so unlike the proper way he held himself during his waking hours.
Perching yourself on the side of the bed, you lay a hand on Zoro’s shoulder. He opted to sleep on his stomach, and you couldn’t help but be appreciative of the sight of his muscular back, shaped by the hours of training he put in daily. “Zoro,” you called calmly, caressing his upper back in what you believed to be a friendly manner. “Hey, it’s time for breakfast.”
Zoro mumbled incoherently in to his pillow before shifting to throw an arm around you, his eyes still shut peacefully. “Zoro,” you laughed, being tilted on to him. “come on, it’s time to wake up.”
Finally, Zoro responded. “Mm. Sleep better.”
“Better than Sanji’s cooking?”
“Yes,” he deadpanned. You should have seen that coming. After a short pause, Zoro opened an eye, taking you in. “Did you cook?”
“I helped.”
“Fine.” With that, Zoro threw off the sheet that was covering him, hopping out of bed in surprising speed. While he’d usually sleep in trousers, last night was hotter than usual, and he seemed to opt against them today.
“Sorry,” you apologize, seeing Zoro in nothing but his boxers. You stood up to make your way out of the room when Zoro interjected, “What’s the rush? I’ll walk with you,” as he pulled on a pair of pants. He grabbed a button-up and followed you out of his room, threading an arm in to his shirt.
You stopped dead in your tracks as you came face to face with Usopp. You could see from the way he was looking at you two, just what he was thinking. You both were leaving his room quietly early in the morning, Zoro being half undressed. Usopp’s gaze jumped between you and Zoro, his mouth falling slightly open, trying to think of how to express himself.
Zoro, however, didn’t give him the opportunity. “Usopp.” Zoro greeted sternly. Zoro then placed a hand on your lower back, maneuvering you to keep walking, leaving a confused, suspicious Usopp behind.
Usopp was the last to join you all for breakfast. When he had finally arrived, the expression he wore was one of slight terror, or maybe just pure disbelief; a fact that didn’t go unnoticed by the rest of the crew. Usopp took his place sitting opposite Nami, who wasn’t afraid to just ask – “Usopp. What’s up with your face?”
Usopp, reluctant to vocalize at this place and time, opted for giving Nami a wide-eyed look before raising his brows and shifting his eyeline between you and Zoro.
If that was meant to be a discreet message from himself to Nami, it failed, because even your oblivious captain had picked up on the cue – “What’s going on with y/n and Zoro?”
You could see Sanji tense visibly, his eyes growing wide. Zoro, however, seemed completely unbothered.
You could see the panic rise on Usopp before he blurted out, “Zoro and y/n are sleeping together!”
You, Luffy and Nami all shout – “What?!” to varying degrees of emotion. Strangely, Zoro doesn’t protest.
Then, a chair falls back to the floor. Sanji was on his feet, his hands fisted. You knew him well enough to know how mad he was just from the way he held himself.
“No.” Sanji said, his voice almost a growl. Slowly, he picked up his gaze from the floor to Zoro. “This… This is the one thing, I refuse to lose to you. I won’t let you have her.”
“Sit down, cook. This doesn’t regard you.” How Zoro could be so unbothered right now, you had no idea. Why wasn’t he clearing things up? Was he – was he okay with the others thinking you were together?
You could see Sanji flaring up – there was a fight about to break out, you were certain about it. “Sanji, I literally spent all morning with you.”
Instantly, Sanji’s rage melted away. Sanji made his way to you, wrapping his arms around your shoulders and pulling you to him. “That’s right. I shouldn’t be listening to this nonsense when I know I’m the first person you see when you wake up.”
Zoro’s brow twitched at that. “What are you saying, cook?”
Looking more smug than need be, Sanji replied, “What do you think, mosshead?”
“Enough with this already!” Nami yelled, far too tired with the duo’s one-upmanship. “You’re talking about a real person here, not a toy. Ever think to ask her how she feels, what she wants?”
“Yeah, y/n.” Zoro stood, and the look he was giving you could set you ablaze. Sanji’s arms around you tightened. “What do you want?”

He was terrified, but not terrified enough to deny that you held his very life in your hands. Zoro didn’t mind that, not at all; you were gentle and funny and lovely and kinder than he deserved. Yet, you were real, as he often was reminded when you carded your hands through his hair with a little laugh and a mumbled, “Dumbass.”
No, Roronoa Zoro was terrified of how much he’d grown accustomed to your entire being.
It was also mildly frightening that you knew fully well just what he would do for you. Zoro admitted, he never tried very hard to hide it, not after your quiet little confession of affection some months ago, under the starlit sky, the wind brushing your hair away to reveal your face.
He’d been yours long before then, but only now he didn’t care to hide his adoring stares and relished in the little way you hooked your pinky with his when you were nervous. How your eyes searched him out when you entered a room. How your kisses grew from shy to ravenous as your relationship progressed.
It was safe to say he was certain you were as infatuated as he was, if not more, though that was a heated topic of debate between the pair of you (“There’s no way you love me more than I love you.” “Wanna bet?” “Zo, I literally took a bullet for you.” “Yeah, I’ve been meaning to bring that up… Why the fuck—!”)
A grin ghosted over Zoro’s face at the memory, and how you’d just laughed as he scolded your reckless affection. His grin grew to a smile before he could cool his expression, and then the warmth of your palm was cupping his jaw, drawing his face closer to yours.
In the low light of the tavern, he swore you glowed. Or maybe it was the three shots of vodka in your system. Either way, you were an angel if Zoro ever knew one. An angel who blessed him with your touch and your teasing little smirk as you asked, “What’s got you smiling?”
“You,” he replied like a reflex. Leaning into your touch, he cast a look around the tavern, scoping out your other crewmates for signs of disturbance. Luffy and Usopp were at the bar, Nami was swindling a woman at the booth across from yours, and Sanji was charming up a brunette in the corner. None of the other patrons minded your crew, so Zoro allowed his shoulders to lose just a bit of their tension, and his hand drifted from his sword to your hand, tugging on it gently to urge you to sit beside him instead of across.
Giddy, you jumped up and hurried to his side, sliding in till your thigh was flush with his. Zoro’s body warmed as you leaned into him, not caring to ask as you took his arm and wrapped it around your shoulder, gazing up at him softly. Your comfortability filled him with confidence; how you moved with such familiarity in his presence, and how it contrasted from when you first met—it was enough to make his ribs crack just to have room for his rapidly expanding heart.
“Good answer,” you teased. You reached up to card your fingers through his hair, gently scratching at his scalp and smirking wider as he grunted and closed his eyes. “Tired?”
Zoro huffed a laugh. “No.”
It was your turn to reminisce, watching as your swordsman melted before you, guard nowhere to be seen. Yours. Never would you have thought you’d actually get to call him that, but here you were, after all the odds and barriers of character.
You particularly enjoyed how he looked just now, eyes closed as you gazed up at him. Once upon a time, Zoro would whip around to make sure you never stood at his back, always ensuring you were nowhere near his blindspot. Now, you mused, he often slept with his back to your chest, your fingers trailing shivers up and down his arms.
Now, his dead eyed gaze didn’t instill you with paralytic nerves; you knew he was more bark than bite, at least with you.
Your dumbass.
“Oi, Y/N!” called Usopp, who had moved from the bar to the wide open space many used as a dance floor. The band of various instruments played a whimsical tune, the rhythm causing your knee to bounce in time.
You raised your brows. “Yep?”
Luffy wrung an arm around Usopp and laughed like a lunatic. “Come dance!”
Your eyes were droopy and honestly, you just wanted some sleep—but who were you to deny your captain? Besides, weren’t you the Strawhats’ resident deathly little dancer?
Casting your boyfriend a look only to find him pursing his lips, you giggled and kissed his frown away, escaping the booth in his brief surprise.
Zoro watched as you leapt to your feet and practically floated with the grace in your steps. As much as Zoro trained and as hard as he tried, he’d never been as graceful with a sword as you were now. Somehow, that made him love you more.
A fiddle and drum, a flute and dulcimer—from what Zoro could tell with his limited knowledge, the music was exactly your style. A lively sort of sound.
And as the music blossomed anew, Zoro spotted that tell tale sparkle in your eye; you had something up your sleeve, per usual, and as your toes started to tap against the ground he knew you’d be amazing, per usual.
Luffy’s enthusiasm drew attention, and soon enough a crowd had formed.
You clapped your hands in a steady rhythm, twirling around in the middle of a circle of people, their gazes trapped by your every move. The crowd soon mimicked your clapping. From the front of the circle, Luffy and Usopp cheered louder than the rest.
Zoro leaned this way and that to keep his eyes locked on you, but it became increasingly difficult as you drew them near like moths to a dancing flame.
With an arabesque leading into a balancé, you glanced over your shoulder and caught Zoro’s eye through the people. His heart stuttered.
You laughed, pure joy in your lungs, and shifted your style from more classical to something looser. You twirled and curved your arms in an “S” shape before pointing your foot and scraping it in the dirt in a wide Rond de Jambe. The movement was swift and agile as you continued to follow the flow of the music, completely in your element.
Mind elsewhere, Zoro hardly realized he’d stood up, not until he had forced his way through the crowd and stopped between Luffy and Usopp. The clapping all around him was deafening, only made worse by the sweet torture of your laugh.
Again, your eyes locked him in place as you swept toward him, only to take Luffy by the hands and twirl him around with you. Zoro scoffed and folded his arms over his chest, unable as ever to hide the smirk tugging at his face.
A giggle left you as Zoro’s face got lost in the whirl of your surroundings. You started a swing dance with Luffy, releasing him a second later to drag a newly approached Nami into the fun.
Your head spun and your feet ached—yet you would never feel happier than when you danced with your friends.
Well, you might’ve been a bit happier when dancing with your special green haired friend, but you knew him well. If you were to drag Zoro into the circle and dance him into the ground in front of all these people, he’d be compliant, but less than pleased.
No. When you danced with Zoro, it wasn’t like this; it was slow and steady, to the rhythm of nothing but the sea. It was deep in the belly of the Going Merry, when the crew was fast asleep, and the moon hung high. When you had the world to yourselves, and could sway in the hold of the other without interruption.
It was simple and plain, but it held a very special place in your heart.
Nami let you spin her around, rolling her eyes before she yelped as you pulled her in and dipped her low. She snorted into a laugh and stumbled a bit, grabbing your arms to keep you from whirling her around again.
Shooting her a wink as she all but ran back to the bar, you danced on light feet once more, starting up a roar of steady clapping.
Your swordsman stood in awe, his eyes desperate to catch as much of your radiance as he could, like you'd disappear at any moment. He always believed good things never last, but he’d die before he let this one end. Because you were Zoro’s best thing, and he refused to grow a similar policy surrounding best things.
So when you had spun off your balance and teetered off your feet, he was there, his arms scooping under yours and catching you against his chest. Out of breath, you looked up and found his eyes, letting the rest of your weight lean into him as he stood a steady post.
“Hey,” you giggled.
“Hi.” Zoro tilted his head. “Ready?”
You were back on your own feet in an instant, thoughts of a warm bed more enticing than dancing through to dawn. So you took his hand and beelined through the crowd, shoving your way through and dragging Zoro along. You winded up collecting Nami by the door, and waited up for Sanji too. The navigator and chef yawned in time, their eyes droopy.
You were no better, your steps lazy as you mindlessly followed after Zoro and the others. It felt as if you’d blinked and you were back on the Merry, gazing up at Zoro who only nudged you with his shoulder. “You up?”
You grunted in reply and promptly led the way to your shared cabin, throwing open the door and letting go of his hand. You plopped into the blankets and at once felt yourself melt into them. The bed dipped a second later. Rolling over, you grinned up at your boyfriend, finding him with his brows met.
“Gonna take off your shoes?” he asked, though it sounded more like an order.
“Yeah, yeah,” you huffed, lugging yourself back up to undo your laces and rip the offending apparel off. You turned to find him under the blanket, holding up one end to make you room, and you settled in beside him. Your head found its natural place on his chest, sleep just on the other side of the mental door, so to speak.
Lost in thought, you barely registered the words spilling from your lips. “I love you.”
It felt natural, like a breath you needed to survive. You wanted to say it again, then once more, and maybe again just for good measure.
Zoro stiffened, his face going an embarrassing shade of red, and he was grateful you weren’t able to see it from your place tucked against his side. He barely even breathed, wondering how much time had really passed since you’d uttered those worldbreaking words. It must’ve been longer than a few minutes; you were fast asleep, none the wiser.
He swallowed thickly and sank deeper into the bed, wrapping his arms tightly around you. He’d deal with figuring out how to say it back in the morning, and decide whether it’ll be the full truth some time later. Or, that was the plan anyhow.
Zoro really couldn’t hold back how you consumed his thoughts—his deathly dancer—and he could deny it all he wanted, but Roronoa Zoro had fallen in love, and apparently, you had as well.
The swordsman grinned, pressing a kiss to your hairline and forcing his eyes shut. How he got so lucky to have you love him, he had no clue. All he knew was you made his life a sweet kind of complicated, and he wouldn’t want you any other way.

Roronoa Zoro x Reader
Look, I gotta be honest, I've never actually watched One Piece outside of the episodes that would air on Toonami back in the day, and I only really cared enough about it because my brother-in-law and my irl best friend both LOVE One Piece... and now my older brother is getting into One Piece too... but like I said in a previous post, I caved and ended up watching the One Piece Live Action (though I guess it didn't help that seeing Taryn cosplay as Zoro kinda reawakened my crush on ZoloZoro as a 4kids)... and I'm also sick right now and I have nothing better to do than write some Zoro boyfriend headcanons apparently. Aside from watching the OPLA, I did do my research on Zoro.. research being reading his page on the OP Wiki 😂😂
Okay, I'm rambling too much and this is still the introduction asdfghjkl
EDIT: Added the links lmao

The way Mackenyu said that he looked at his wife and knew that he wanted to marry her (supposedly, I couldn't find any concrete sources for this save for a YouTube video using TTS... but hey, it fed my imagination for this), I felt that so much for Zoro.
Of course, it doesn't happen overnight for Zoro. It takes a while, maybe even years, for him to look at you and be like, "I wouldn't mind settling down with you if possible." Oh boy, but when it does happen, he becomes very perceptive of you.
Just like his training, he takes his relationship with you very seriously, and even if he doesn't act on his feelings for you straight away--because one, he has a strong sense of duty to Luffy first, and two, you'd be his first and maybe only romantic partner ever--he'd still reserve a certain amount of softness and gentleness to you when not in the presence of others.
Let's go back to Zoro's perceptiveness really quickly. Yes, my man can be a dumbass at the best and worst of times and we all love that about him, but when it comes down to what's important, he knows how to analyze and read the situation. So, because he views you as someone important and someone he should take seriously, he's going to personally be making sure that you're okay, mentally, emotionally, and physically. He's that dedicated to you.
There will be times where his loyalty to Luffy might have to take center stage in the relationship, especially if its during a critical juncture, rest assured that he will do his best to make it up to you afterwards. He doesn't voice it often because of his strong loyalty to Luffy, but there are brief times in which he wishes that he could just spend time with you.
Now, Zoro isn't one for PDA, he gets very embarrassed by it because showing affection in public isn't something that he's comfortable with doing, but, get him out of public and into private, that man is on you, no question. The most affection he's comfortable with showing in public is you two taking a nap together, or even sharing a bottle together (which is very hard to get him to do, the man loves his alcohol, so congrats if you manage it).
As an official romantic partner, he's actually very sweet. Yes, he can come off as very blunt and cold sometimes, but he's just being honest with you. To him, its more important to be truthful than to sugarcoat things. For you, however, he's working on saying things more gently if in the case you get hurt by his initial blunt tendencies. Past that, however, he tends to you with the same care he tends to his swords. He sees a fruit or snack that you adore in the markets when he's helplessly lost? He'll absolutely buy it for you. Finds an item you've been wanting for a while? Don't worry, he's already paying for it. He finds out that you maybe feel a bit homesick? He'll begrudgingly ask Sanji to cook one of your favorite hometown dishes. He sees that you're feeling down on yourself? He's there to either quietly lend an ear or his presence, whichever you need. My man is an attentive boyfriend.
Also also, Zoro is a man of few words, so don't expect to hear him say, "I love you," very often, but that's okay. He's a man of few words, but his actions speak so much for him. You can feel him say those words in the way he kisses you thoughtfully, in the way he holds you so securely to him when you two nap or sleep together, in the way he dutifully monitors your alcohol intake (if you drink alcohol of course), in the way he tends to you carefully if you get hurt in a fight. To him, words are useless and actions mean so much more.
In other words, Zoro would make the best boyfriend in his special own way.

Okay so this is the few times I am free - so last weekend I finally binged the One Piece Live Action because of the delicious Tuna dish Binging with Babish made. And the guy cooking it - Sanji, was hot. I have no background of what One Piece is though I have seen Uncle Roger's video on the curry episode.
AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! I can't wait for season 2 and I can't be the only person who wants to be the filling in a Zoro Sanji sandwich 😏

The deck of the Going Merry was hot and blistering under the heat of the sun. You’d just taken a few steps outside when you turned right back around and bolted back below deck, grumbling as you found a set of shoes.
“Stupid heat,” you lamented, somewhat longing for the days you’d galivant your village barefoot without a care in the world. Now, you had a very many number of cares due to your new way of life.
Who knew piracy could be so stressful?
Certainly not you, but you wouldn’t trade any of this for the world. You may be fighting for your life every other Tuesday, but you were loved and cherished and that was something you treasured far more than the security of a home that didn’t jump on the waves.
Besides, the Going Merry was cozy once you got over the sea-sickness.
You raced back into the sunlight of daybreak, practically skipping as you headed up to the foredeck to meet the crew’s swordmans. You shouldn’t be so chipper to see him, after all he made it clear he didn’t want you intruding on his daily training. Still, you couldn’t help but admire Zoro in every sense of the word, and then some.
Nami said you were caught in the web of love. You only laughed, never once denying it, but never agreeing either.
The swordsman was just about to begin running through his katas without you, almost daring to hope you’d slept in. He knew it was foolish when he heard your cheerful humming as you bounded up to him, and then he was daring to be relieved you hadn’t forgotten.
(He liked your presence more than he’d ever admit to anymore, and that was a very close guarded secret).
“Ready?” he said simply, always wanting to tell you so many things, aching to ask you questions so mundane they felt silly, but always settling for one word. You never minded; that much was clear from the way your smile warmed and your eyes met his unabashedly.
“Always.” You beamed as he handed you one of his swords, Yubashiri, and Zoro quickly averted his gaze. You pretended not to see right through him. “Are you?”
“Hmm? Oh, yeah.”
By the end of an hour, you were thoroughly exhausted, yet somehow feeling alive enough to run a marathon. You spun the sword around your wrist, a trick Zoro had taught you a while back, and giggled to yourself, drawing Zoro’s attention.
Caught offguard by the way the sun beamed down and highlighted everything he liked about you, and how your skin shimmered like glass with how you sweat now, Zoro couldn’t help but stare and pray you didn’t notice.
The gods must’ve been merciful that morning, for you turned your back to get a drink from your water bottle the next moment, only turning back around once Zoro had composed himself. Still, you must have caught the awkward stiffness in his shoulders. You tilted your head the way you did when you were concerned, like some lost puppy, and Zoro’s heart dropped.
“You wanna stop now?” you asked without a hint of disappointment, but Zoro knew better. This was your favorite part of the day, or so you said. He hadn’t a clue as to why fighting him in the blazing sun was so memorable, but he never tried to come up with a reason why your smile was so bright every day.
Either way, he would never cut this short himself, for reasons quite beyond him.
“And leave it at a draw? Not a chance.”
That grin slid across your face, the one that told Zoro he’d wait for your every morning, even if you were three hours late, if sparring like this made you happy.
But then he made a mistake. He got too cocky, too comfortable—Zoro’s usually solid restraint wavered as you snickered and ducked under his sword, passing your hand over his side to tickle him. He stammered and jerked away, unable to help but smirk as he surged forward once more.
The next blow of the two swords knocked you off balance. You stumbled back, losing a solid grip, and raised the blade to parry another attack. Your sword faltered and clattered to the deck, but Zoro out too much power behind his move. The edge of his sword stabbed the air too close to your arm, and Zoro felt all the air leave his lungs.
Well, he thought it only caught the air until you inhaled sharply, fighting back a wince as he practically jumped away from you. Zoro’s sword was back in its sheath in seconds. He inched toward you, hovering a hand over your shoulder as crimson starting to spread from a slit in the material. “Shit, I—”
“It’s fine,” you said through a weak smile, rolling our your arm with a barely there laugh. “See? Just a scratch.”
“I’m—Sorry…” He searched for something better to say, eyes wide whilst you just grinned up at him, eyes all squinty.
You knelt to pick up Yubashiri from the ground with your good arm, handing it back to Zoro as tears started to well in the ducts of your eyes. A pit formed in Zoro’s chest as he just set the sword right back down, holding you by your good shoulder. He ignored your swatting hands an delicately pulled up your sleeve, gawking at the less-than-fine gash he’d inflicted.
His eyes darted up to meet yours suddenly; your hand was now placed over his, your gaze reassuring as you blinked swiftly. “Really, it was an accident. Don’ worry.”
Nodding, Zoro backed away silently, looking anywhere but at your face. “Should probably let Chopper look at that.”
You nodded too, waiting for him to say anything else, staying put for an awkward amount of time just watching him. You felt awful, really, even though you’re the one who got hurt. Hopefully, he wouldn’t beat himself up too much.
The next morning when you rose with the sun as you had every other day, you sauntered up to the deck with a sketchpad and pencil in hand. Zoro was leaning against the mizzenmast, idly tapping at the hilt of the Wado Ichimonji.
“Hey,” you greeted, inwardly sighing when his eyes were instantly drawn to the bandage on your arm. You stopped short and tilted your head, a tired look in your eye. “Look. I’m fine. I know it was accident. Let’s just move on, ‘kay?”
Instead of answering directly, he nodded at the sketchpad in your hand. “What’s the book for?”
“Chopper told me to take a break until it heals over,” you said with a roll of your eyes. Confusion swarmed Zoro’s face.
“So… if you’re not training, why’re you up?” Everyone else would still be asleep by now, save for the cook if he was doing breakfast that day.
You shrugged and nearly skipped to a barrel a few feet off, dragging it closer to where Zoro would be training and perching yourself atop it. You crossed your legs and set the pad in your lap. “I still wanna spend time with you.”
It was like you wanted to kill him, saying stuff like that. Zoro’s cheeks felt all warm all of a sudden as he cleared his throat, biting down on his lip to keep from smiling. He steeled his face with a grunt, muttering, “Back at you.”
Zoro might have shown off more than he normally would that day, and you might have ended with more sketches of him than needed.
As the rest of the crew rose from sleep and lumbered into the kitchen, Sanji asked Nami ever so sweetly to alert you that breakfast was served, and you could stop humoring the mosshead. Nami rolled her eyes, grinning as she bounded above deck only to falter as she found the foredeck empty.
A quick search led her to the afterdeck, where she stood silently out of sight, spotting two figures in the shade of her tangerine trees. Your spoke with avid hands, holding your sketchpad up for him to see, and Zoro listened with a captivity Nami didn’t think possible of him.
She chuckled as you leaned into him without realizing, distressing a frazzled Zoro. Eh. You two could probably do without breakfast. As strange as the pairing was, if you were happy, she was happy.
And from the way you looked at him as if the very stars were hung in his big dumb eyes, you were very happy indeed.
