Beskar Doll - Ch. 48: Incursion
The assault on Gideon's compound begins. A continuation of Beskar Doll ch. 1-47 found on Tumblr here.

Pairing: The Mandalorian/Din Djarin x Female Reader
Warnings: Canon-typical violence. No use of Y/N. Minors DNI 18+ only.
Length: 3.9k
You’d thought that being on a Naboo ship would be a comfort. In some ways, it was. Sosha had gotten a royal cruiser - it had the best hyperspace capability - and, in a way, it was like coming home. You had spend a lot of time on this kind of ship before the Empire fell. You knew where everything was, could easily navigate your way through the place and find exactly what you were looking for. It was like your body remembered where you were supposed to be, muscle memory taking over now that you were in this familiar place.
But it was also disconcerting. It wasn’t the Razor Crest. It wasn’t home. Naboo ships were bright - almost too bright now that you weren’t used to it. It felt like you needed to squint away from it all.
They also weren’t nearly as cluttered. There were spaces to be that weren’t the cargo hold or cramped quarters but they were so open. You liked having your small places to tuck into and you liked having a good reason to be close to the Mandalorian. Not that you needed a reason - you were married now - but it still felt better to seek out his physical presence when you had an excuse. Doing it otherwise felt like a weakness.
You hadn’t been expecting the disconcerting feeling you got being aboard a Naboo ship, either. It had been long enough since the war and so long since you’d traveled on a cruiser like this one that it was all tied together. Days on the ship, getting shot at on an Imperial base. Traveling with Sosha, torturing someone for information. It had you on edge.
The sense of unease made it difficult to focus. You’d been trying to connect with Grogu again for a while. You weren’t sure if he wasn’t letting you in, if something was wrong with him, if something was wrong with you, but you hadn’t been able to reach him again.
“I hate this,” you said for what had to be the twentieth time.
“I know,” Din said, sitting behind you on the bed in the room you’d taken for the trip, your back pressed against his chest. You’d thought having him close would help but it hadn’t made a difference, beyond making you feel a little less anxious.
You knew you should probably try to rest on the trip but that wasn’t working well, either. You had barely slept the night before. Din hadn’t either. What little sleep you did get was on his chest and, every time you woke up, he was awake, too. His hands went to your hair, stroking it gently, kissing the top of your head, trying to ease you back into rest again.
He’d gotten up early that morning, kissing you deeply, his ungloved hand on your face, before he went to the Crest. He came back with the throwing stars from Nevarro (“Just in case”) and the full beskar staff he’d gotten from Corvus
“When we wed, I would have given you armor if I still had a covert,” he said, holding the staff out in his open palms. “This is what I have for you. But you are a warrior. A weapon will protect you as well as armor will and this weapon will withstand anything Gideon may have. And so will you.”
You took it with some reverence. It was oddly heavy for its size, the feeling of the metal familiar under your fingers after touching his armor so many times. He stepped back from you and you tightened your grip on the weapon, testing it out with a few swings. You got a feel for it, adjusting your grip, before you spun it, practicing some of your favorite attacks with it before just holding it again.
“I don’t have anything for you,” you said, looking up at him.
He cocked his head slightly.
“You gave me you,” he said. “Don’t need anything else.”
He stepped close to you and dropped his forehead down to meet yours. You took a deep breath and centered yourself.
“Let’s go get our boy,” you said.
The other handmaids met the two of you, Sosha, Donné and Pell with his men at the ship. There were a lot of hugs, the experience of holding people you hadn’t ever expected to see again surreal. Leena and Nobé were just as you remembered them, just now often traveling independently of Sosha to help execute her and the crown’s agendas.
They were stunned that you were alive, that you were married, that you’d somehow stumbled your way into a life outside of the one that all of you had trained for and fought for and lived for your entire lives.
Din and Pell went over the plan with all of you over and over. Blast into the building. Din and Pell clear a path. Pell’s men accompany the handmaids and hold the entry point. You access a panel and locate Grogu. Din finds Gideon. Gideon dies. The two of you take Grogu and never look over your shoulder for the Empire again.
You absently straightened your uniform. It wasn’t something you’d had from your handmaid days, it was a new piece of handmaid wardrobe. The gold embroidery at the high, split collar that ran down in a v between your breasts to your belt was a different pattern than you were used to, no longer representing the royal house of Naboo but the office of the ambassador. You traced it with your fingers, the thread bright against the plush black.
You tried to focus as you braided your hair, using the familiar routine and pattern of the work to try to calm yourself and prepare. These were the highest stakes you had ever faced. More than when you’d been tasked with finding information to put a stop to the Empire’s move to wipe out the Rebel fleet, than when you’d been trying to hold off Imperial troops from taking your city and turning it to ash. This was your child, the single most important thing in the galaxy. You could not fail. You had to save him.
When your hair was in a braided knot on your head, you left Din and met the other handmaid’s in Sosha’s chambers. You all wore the same combat uniform, the one worn to protect the ambassador of Naboo. You all had braided your hair the same way.
Sosha had set out the stores she’d kept of the ceremonial makeup. You all looked at each other for a moment, feeling some of the gravity of what you were about to do. You’d all worn the traditional makeup of a monarch at one point or another but never all at once. None of you were queen now, none of you were standing in for one. The makeup had purpose and meaning. As far as you knew, it had never been used for something like this.
“We each wore the scar of remembrance to honor the suffering of our people,” Sosha said, looking at all of you. “Now, we wear it to prevent the suffering of our sister. I think our ancestors would be happy that we’re using it for this.”
It was easy to fall into the same pattern you had years before, applying the makeup almost as second nature as braiding your hair. You painted your face white, added red dots to your cheeks, painted your upper lip red and added the scar on your lower lip. You darkened your eyebrows and lengthened your lashes. It was far from the joyful time you often remembered it being, doing your makeup with Sosha and your fellow handmaids. Now, it was heavy.
You all finished about the same time. It was like looking in a mirror. You always looked similar to your fellow handmaids and to Sosha. That was the point, to be faceless and interchangeable, able to stand in for the queen while never arousing suspicion. But when you were all in the ceremonial makeup at the same time, it was like you were all one and the same.
“The Imps won’t know what hit them,” Sosha smirked. “And if they don’t know, they can’t know who is who and what we’re each after.”
“I’m sure Pell loves this part of the plan,” Nobé smirked a little.
“Just as thrilled as the Mandalorian is,” Sosha gave you a knowing smile.
“Yes, he’s always overjoyed when I try to throw myself in the thick of it,” you smiled a little back.
“And you somehow still got him to marry you,” Leena teased.
“Well, I did ask him,” you said. “And I thought we were about to die. I think it made the argument more convincing.”
Donné shook her head, laughing.
“I’m not sure I could see you marrying any other way,” she smiled a little. “Under duress but ending up happy about it.”
You laughed a little at that as the five of you left the queen’s chambers and you went and found Din in your room. He cocked his head a bit at you and you raised your brows, almost asking his approval. It was strange, being like this in front of him. It was an odd form of intimacy, akin to you seeing him without the helmet. When you were like this, no one was supposed to know you were you. You were, for all intents and purposes, meant to be seen as the reigning monarch of Naboo, something far more than just yourself. But he saw past it.
He stepped close to you and removed the helmet, tucking it below his arm, and brought his hand to the nape of your neck to press his lips into the crown of your head.
“Know you anywhere, Cyare,” he said quietly. You took a deep breath, holding on to the scent of him.
The com on the wall came to life, all but making you jump.
“We’re on approach, My Lady,” the pilot said. “It’s going to be rapid, I recommend getting into position.”
Din reached down and tilted your chin up so your eyes met his.
“We’re ready,” he said. “We’re going to save him.”
“We are,” you said, your eyes searching his. He was sure and strong and capable and you needed every ounce of that.
Din put his helmet on, you took the beskar staff and you went to join the others, ready to get your son back.
***
Din was trying to be calm. He, Pell and Pell’s men were in position. You were with Sosha and the handmaids at the rear, each of you armed to the teeth, ceremonial makeup more like warpaint with blasters and thermal detonators strapped to your belts and tucked below the long sides of your cloaks. This was the best plan they could come up with, he knew. He was confident that it had at least a chance of success.
But the risks were high. Gideon was not going to take kindly to this. What’s worse, he was going to take it personally. You’d escaped his clutches, Din had destroyed his flagship and much of his men. He was going to want to destroy you, destroy you both. And he had Grogu, your most vulnerable point. There was a chance that none of you were leaving there alive.
“Dropping out of hyperspace in three, two,” the pilot said over the com. Din braced himself and felt the ship jolt. The pilot was smart and talented. He’d set the jump so you were coming out of hyperspace within the atmosphere of Phindar, barely enough clicks from the facility to slow down enough to stop when you reached it and so close there wouldn’t be time to scramble fighters for them to take you down. Din planted his feet to try to stay standing as the ship rapidly slowed and he heard the weapons engage.
“Weapons hot in three, two,” the pilot came over the com again and he could hear the sounds of destruction just beyond his reach, just beyond the gate as the ship landed, hard, on the ground. “Facility breached, prepare for deployment.”
Din readied his blaster at the telltale hiss of the gate opening. He looked back over his shoulder, finding you among the handmaids. You were acting as the tip of the spear and your face was hard, fierce. He would need to make sure you weren’t in harm’s way as much as he could. He had to keep you safe. If only one of you was making it out of here, it had to be you. He was going to do everything he could to make sure that, at the very least, you and Grogu left here alive.
The gate opened on the smoking rubble of the Imperial facility, a gaping hole in the side of the structure that led to a long hall, one that stormtroopers were already running down. He and Pell quickly glanced at each other and ran down the ramp, meeting the troopers head on.
The two men picked a choke point and set to hold the position as the rest of Pell’s men lined up behind them. There were only about 25 or so troopers, Din and Pell handling the first handful easily before numbers started to become an issue, a blaster bolt pinging off Din’s armor. He stepped out from the shelter he had and raised his arm, deploying whistling birds and felling a dozen of them in one fell swoop before he pressed forward, leaving Pell and his men holding the point closer to the ship. He was too close to stand by now, he wasn’t going to wait for the Empire to come to him. Din was going to come to the Empire.
The last trooper fell, his armor clattering to the floor as an alarm sounded.
“Rear five, hold position!” Pell ordered and Din looked back, you leading the five women down the ramp. “Others, protect your charge!”
Like Din, the makeup did not give Pell pause. He seemed to know Sosha immediately and went to her as Din joined you. You just gave him a look and, for half a second, he felt an almost physical connection with you. A tie from him to you, one forged of beskar and determination to find your son. He had the sense that he would know what you were doing when you chose it, that he would know how to anticipate your movements and your plans, that he would be able to function together with you as a warrior. You gave each other a single nod and ran, side by side, into the burning Imperial base.
***
You were close to Grogu now. You could feel him again, a little nudge at the back of your mind. The reassurance of that little nudge was intense, the first indication you truly had that Grogu was, in fact, still alive. You had the idea that you’d have sensed it if he’d died. That you’d have felt the disconnect of losing him. But even without the feeling, the thought still horrified you.
You relaxed your mind enough to let him in - just a bit, you couldn’t afford to fully engage him, you weren’t sure if you’d be able to stay in control of yourself if you did - and tried to see if you could get a sense of where he was. No luck.
“Dank farrik,” you muttered, running to a panel toward the back of the corridor.
“What?” Din asked as you started to manipulate the controls.
“Grogu’s here but I can’t get a read on where he is,” you said, looking at diagrams of the facility until you found detention. “There, it’s toward the middle, second level looks to have occupied cells. It’s not far from the central research areas, either. He’s there, he has to be there…”
“Din Djarin,” Gideon’s voice was suddenly all around you. “And the Handmaid. Or should I say Lady Djarin, I’ve heard rumors of your nuptials. My sincerest congratulations.”
Sosha came up along side you, Pell at her shoulder.
“At least we know Gideon is here,” she said.
“Lady Djarin,” Gideon continued. “You’re a smart woman. If you value the life of your queen, your sister handmaids, your husband and your child that is still inside you, you will turn around and leave now. This is the only offer you will receive. Take it, or I will destroy each and every one of you, saving you for last.”
You felt Sosha’s eyes on you. You hadn’t told her about the pregnancy. You hadn’t told anyone, Din was the only other person who knew. You swallowed, hard. She stepped around you to the panel, pressing the com link.
“Return my son,” she said, using her queen voice. The one you could perfectly imitate. Your head snapped toward her. She was looking at you, her gaze firm. She was standing in for you, putting a target on her back for you the way you’d done for her. “And maybe we will let you leave with your life. This is the only offer you will receive.”
She released the button and looked at Pell, who looked like he was tempted to strangle her himself. She shrugged.
“Small change of plan,” she said.
“Sosha,” you said under your breath. She glared at you, cutting you off with a look.
The other handmaids circled around you both and Din took command.
“There are three wings to the facility,” he said. “Donné, Leena, Nobé, each of you take a wing and go to the base level, set charges with the timed detonators. We will go to the center of the facility and get Grogu. If anyone sees Gideon, get out. He’s dangerous and he’s ours.”
“May the Force be with us,” Sosha said.
Din and Pell took the lead, with you and Sosha immediately after, your six men behind. It didn’t take long to stumble upon troopers, a few dozen, completely blocking the corridor. Din and Pell immediately started shooting and Sosha maneuvered forward of you, the way you had for her for years, all of you pressing forward into the cluster of troopers.
You looked around Din as the troopers charged forward, Pell sticking to his blaster while Din threw himself into the fray. You tried to come alongside Sosha but she shot you a glare.
“My Lady,” she said. “Stay behind me, that’s an order.”
“Don’t believe I fall under the command of the Royal House of Naboo anymore,” you replied.
A stormtrooper managed to make it past Din and you spun your beskar staff, taking out is legs before you speared his chest with it, the Mandalorian steel easily piercing the trooper armor. You didn’t need to look to see what your husband was doing. You could feel it, sense it, know where the next threat was going to approach from. You freed the staff from the body of the trooper and brought it down on the next advancing soldier in the same movement, spinning it in your hand to swing it down on the one after that, too, sending them both to the ground. Sosha shot one and then the other.
“You didn’t tell me some very important information, Sister,” she glared at you.
“Because I didn’t need you and him ganging up on me about it!” You swung the staff again, knocking down another trooper before stabbing another in the stomach. You freed the staff and  put it through the one on the ground, too. You looked around for a moment, all of you surrounded by the bodies of several dozen stormtroopers.
“Your highness,” Pell went for Sosha, taking her arm and looking her over. You frowned for a moment. You recognized the look on his face.
“Captain,” she said, a touch of warning in her tone. He released her arm.
“We have to keep moving,” Din said. You gave him a nod and he led the way, Pell falling in behind him.
“Told me he was a flyboy,” you said to Sosha, voice low.
“So we were both hiding things,” she replied quietly, glancing at you. “And he was a pilot, before he became captain of my guard. It wasn’t entirely untrue.”
The next attack came from the side, where another corridor intersected with yours. The troopers barely caught you, the men behind you sweeping up alongside you, putting themselves between you and the oncoming soldiers. You and Sosha ducked behind them, leaning out from between their bodies to shoot at the oncoming troopers as Din and Pell doubled back, taking point.
It was a beautiful thing, watching Din fight. You were well positioned to admire him from your position behind Pell’s men. He moved with careful precision, no motion wasted. If he was throwing a trooper back with a boot to the chest, he was readying a shot to pull off as he brought his leg back down. He used his flamethrower on one wrist to set four troopers clustered together alight while firing at a fifth that was ahead of him. It was deadly and efficient, ideal for fighting while outnumbered and in close quarters.
You were lost in it, for a moment, lost in the thought of your husband as a warrior when you were shot from behind.
It caught you off guard, sending you stumbling forward, the fabric of your uniform dissipating most of the damage from the bolt and keeping you alive and on your feet.
“My Lady!” You shouted as you turned, blaster drawn, firing at another onslaught of troopers.
Sosha turned, too, and you were cursing yourself for not paying closer attention to your back, separating from Din and Pell.
You analyzed the situation quickly, falling back into the core of your training: protect Sosha. You charged into the fray, your staff spinning, taking down troopers as quickly as you could manage. You felt a shot to the leg, the fabric dissipating it but still enough to make you stumble. You did what you could to take advantage of it, turning the pointed tip of your weapon down and stabbing into one of the fallen men and using the staff to catch your balance, swinging around it to throw both of your feet into the chest of the nearest trooper.
“Din!” You heard Sosha yell as you ripped the staff free and swung it into another trooper. You managed to fell another enemy when another went flying past you, slamming into a second soldier, your husband suddenly at your side.
“I have this!” You thrust the spear into an oncoming trooper’s stomach as Din jumped in front of a blaster bolt meant for you, sending it ricocheting into another soldier.
“Faster if I help.”
You loosed your blaster and fired, taking down a trooper that was about to go for him. He used the flamethrower on the last three. You looked up at him after they fell, an odd feeling of pride, knowing that he was deadly and that he was yours.
It didn’t last long.
“You can’t think it’s that easy,” Gideon’s voice appeared. “I haven’t even begun and my offer has officially expired.”
A/N: The Sosha/Doll dream team is on the attack with their men at their side! We love to see it.
Thank you for being here as this fic comes to a close. Not much further to go now! I've loved going on this adventure with you all. Thank you for spending your time with me <3

Laveena
Tumblr media
Laveena is a mercenary jedi oc of mine!~ a lepi who used to be part of a family of kyber crystal miners before the empire took over her planet. she seeks revenge towards them, and her sister, who is a fully fledged sith. her sister's also the one responsible for laveena's cybernetic arms. both she and her sister are fantastic tinkerers, so when laveena lost her arms she quickly fabricated her current arms with scrap parts and a plastoid plating for the outside. with kyber crystals she held onto she also installed blasters into the palms of her hands, though they're not very powerful. later on she changed the plastoid plating for durasteel, though she'd love to get her hands on some beskar [without mandalorians chasing after her that is]. the gold colored plating is just aesthetic.
her lightsaber is made from another kyber crystal she held onto, plus a damaged lightsaber she repaired. the lightsaber glows an orange yellow color.
Laveena likes a lavish lifestyle, with her ship being modeled after a modified naboo royal cruiser, with canons added to the wings and front of the ship. she even has a pool inside it! she has a BB series astromech and a seeker/parrot droid as her partners, and she loves them lots! they're her dorks, but they are well behaved around her, and she is looking to install vocal hardware in them that would allow them to speak in a non-binary language.

Safe and Sound ⌨
Cori’iana’s heart beat rapidly and her stomach grew more and more unsettled as she drew closer to the designated landing site for the Baethean delegation.  Wanting to appear stronger than what she felt, Cori’iana passed Meellen to Biala, who showered the cat in ear scritches as they walked.
True to her word, Ziv was waiting at the landing site for them.  Knowing that her nervousness might betray her through her words, Cori’iana opted to acknowledge Baethean’s senator with a nod which Ziv returned.  She knew that once the Baethean vessel was landed that her nerves would steel, like they always did.  But Cori’iana couldn’t help but play with the bracelet Obi-Wan had given her to self-sooth as she waited for the vessel to come into sight.
A few minutes later, the aircraft came into view.  Cori’iana stood a little taller from her place between Ziv and Biala.  By the time the ramp of the Baethean royal cruiser touched the ground, Cori’iana was ready for whatever harsh judgement and cruel comments she was about to receive.  She steadied herself with a diplomatic smile, which she could only hope would unsettle Lady Catalea as much as the future monarch of Baethea unsettled her.
As to be expected, Lady Catalea seemed to gracefully float down the ramp as any royal should, looking elegant and sure of herself, but the fire behind her eyes was unmistakable. Cori’iana could feel Lady Catalea’s judging eyes cast harshly upon her scrutinizing everything from her dress of blue silk with silver circlets on the bodice to her dark tresses cascading down her back.  But Cori’iana had anticipated this since this moment she knew Lady Catalea would be descending in terror upon Naboo.

@lethalwound
Ever since he had turned his back on Padme and stepped into that hydrolift on Coruscant to ready the escort craft for the Senator's cruiser, Anakin had been completely distracted. He could feel that Obi-Wan knew it, but was electing not to voice the issue, and as irritating as that was… he was begrudgingly grateful. It had been so strange between them - he had sounded like such a fool when he talked to her, and there was nothing he could do to stop it; it was as if he'd turned into a youngling Gungan. As he sat in the cockpit checking the instruments (the ground-proximity sensor was broken, but he couldn’t remember the last time he had ever listened to one anyway) he tried desperately to distract himself from blushing, even in here completely alone, at the image of Padme’s smile of amusement when she called him Ani in front of the whole room. But after a while, he realised that it didn’t even matter that she still seemed to think of him as a boy: the simple and unfortunate fact was, that there was no discomfort he would not endure just to be in Padme’s presence for any length of time. He would certainly be flying much faster than Obi-Wan dictated to get to Naboo and see her again.
By the time the dignitaries gathered again in the Theed Royal Palace, Anakin had managed to settle his mind somewhat - but it had taken all his most excruciating meditation training to be able to pilot the Delta 7 perfectly and think about Padme for almost the entire journey. Now, as the meeting disbanded, his eyes strayed across the room to where Padme was slipping away between two tall, sandy pillars. Anakin found himself instantly stepping forwards to follow her; and as he strode through the little crowd he saw Captain Typho up ahead, calling after Padme to arrange security measures in a voice strained with frustration. At almost precisely the same time, Master Kenobi called after Anakin himself. Anakin, like Padme, pretended not to hear and ducked behind the pillars to disappear onto the shadowy colonnade behind.
‘Padme,’ he said, pausing halfway along as she continued to walk away. He felt his heartbeat stammer at the sudden suspense of not knowing whether or not she would turn around. ‘It’s Anakin now.’ The words sounded stupid the second after they had left his lips. He swallowed. ‘I mean… I would appreciate it if you called me Anakin in company.’

TK-424
Birth Name: Porro Das Imperial Designation: TK-424 Homeworld: Naboo Birth Year: 25 BBY Summary: TK-424, born Porro Das, was a human male born in the city of Moesia on Naboo in 25 BBY. Das's father was a veteran of the Royal Naboo Security Forces, having seen action in the Battle of Naboo (retiring from this service before the birth of his son), and his mother was a respected seamstress. Das grew up with stories of his fathers time in the Security Forces and developed a fascination with the role of the military in society, and the men who served within it. Another interest of a young Das was the greater Clone Wars (22-19 BBY). Throughout the remainder of his youth up until his teenage years, Das would find himself in a myriad of sporting activities, as well as a trend of excellence academically until his schooling career was over, with his interest in the armed forces evolving with the rise of the empire, setting his sights on an eventual enlistment in the Stormtrooper Corp, at his parents behest. In 7 BBY, imperial recruiters would arrive in Moesia. Das, as an 18 year old would leave his family home, leaving a note for his parents, and make way for the imperial recruiting office in the dead of night. Upon Das's initial recruitment, he and thousands of other recruits were shipped off to the Imperial Academy of Carida, where he would undergo his Stormtrooper training. In 5 BBY, Porro Das would complete his Stormtrooper training and become TK-424, a Junior Enlisted Trooper. Shortly after the completion of his training, TK-424 would be stationed with the Ferrix Garrison under the command of Lieutenant Keysax, being thrust into action early on with the Rix Road Riot as support for the security forces. During the riot, TK-424 would blast a rioter off the back of his comrade, and would soon after be injured by a rioter wielding a blunt object, while injured, TK-424 would overcome his maddened attacker and go on to kill several more rioters. TK-424's actions during Rix Road would earn him a promotion to the rank of Enlisted Trooper. After the riot and eventual promotion, TK-424 would depart Ferrix by the end of 5 BBY when he was attached to the 501st Legion. TK-424 would serve with distinction, some time before 1 BBY he would be promoted to Corporal. In 0 BBY, TK-424 would be aboard the Devastator when it captured the Alderaanian diplomatic cruiser Tantive IV. He would be a member of the boarding party and again, serve with distinction. TK-424 would survive the Battle of Yavin unharmed. In 3 ABY, TK-424 would see action with the 501st Legion, dawning cold weather assault armor and accompanying Lord Vader in the ground assault on Echo Base. TK-424 would take down several rebels leading his team through the ice covered halls of the base. In 4 ABY, TK-424 would be deployed into the forests of Endor with the 501st Legion, personally witnessing the destruction of the 2nd Death Star, along with his team. TK-424 would witness the combined efforts of the Rebel Alliance and Endor natives slowly destroy the 501st Legion, man my man, team by team in a desperate attempt to find solace and regroup against the onslaught. As TK-424 and his team found themselves alone and in the middle of a massive forest, 424 would attempt to rally the troopers under his command to find a shuttle off planet, eventually the team's navigator would locate the coordinates of an imperial landing pad with no rebel presence and the team, with renewed spirits, would set off for the shuttle. TK-424 and his team would successfully make it to the landing pad, as the team arrived however, a large unit of rebels would befall the pad and begin firing on TK-424's team, with 424 sending his team into the shuttle and yelling for a lone Scout Trooper (LS-407) to board, and securing their takeoff as he fought rebel after rebel, exchanging fire, eventually resorting to hand to hand combat, being finally subdued and blasted with a short range sidearm. This would mark the end of Porro Das "TK-424's" life.

“I thought we were mad at Poe,” Sondé said as she sat on the end of your bed as you recounted what happened on Aleen to her, Loré and Nové.
“We were,” you said, holding your pillow close to your chest.
“But then you spent the night together,” Nové said dramatically, draping herself across the bed, “And now you love him again.” You pursed your lips and looked at her as she laughed, keeping her eyes on you.
“I don’t love him again,” you said, looking down at your toes.
“You never stopped,” Nové said. You nodded your head and they all sighed, somewhat in romantic awe, and somewhat in disgust.
“But it doesn’t really matter, because until they can find this spy, we can’t be together.”
“You can,” Loré said, “Just not in the way you both want to be.”
“We’re not supposed to talk until the spy is found,” you said, “Only the information that is absolutely necessary, which isn’t much.”
“So let’s find out the spy for ourselves,” Loré said with a smirk.
“And how do you propose we do that?”
“Set a trap.”
“I think we’re a little too busy with other things,” you said.
“Maybe.”
“I’m serious, Loré. I know where your mind is going.”
“No, you don’t,” she said with a smile.
“Yes, I do. You’re going to create a fake plan, and then wait for whoever the spy is to show up to that plan, and you’ll think that you’ve caught the spy, when in reality, you’ve just tricked everyone into not trusting you, and possibly put them all at risk.”
“That’s not even remotely what I was going to do,” she muttered.
“And like I said, we’ve really got to get back to work. Lin is coming back tomorrow so that my parents and I can go with him to Coruscant to check out the old senate building.”
“And what are we doing with tall, blonde, and dreamy?” Sondé asked.
“Touring the old senate building,” you said firmly. “Very early in the morning.”
“She’s right,” Nové said, sitting up, “We should all get some sleep.”
“Want help turning down your bed?” Loré asked with a yawn.
“No, I think Sondé and Nové did that with their flopping,” you said, walking them towards the door.
“Alright. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight,” you said, shutting the door behind you.

“Good morning, darling,” your mother said as you walked into the dining room the next morning.
“Morning,” you said, leaning down to give her a quick hug.
“Did you sleep alright?”
“Yeah.”
“Have any nice dreams?” she asked with a smile.
“No, you know I don’t dream,” you said, smiling up at the server who brought out bowls of thick oatmeal.
“You just don’t remember them,” she said, turning her attention back to her Holopad. “You look very beautiful by the way.”
“Thanks, Mom.”
“I’m sure Lin Ral with think so, too.” You rolled your eyes and shook your head out of her view.
“When is he getting here?”
“Within the hour,” she said. “Your father is waiting for him on the hangar.”
“I don’t think he needs to wait.”
“Lin likes to come early.”
“I know, but I still don’t think—”
“Ah, here they are!” You and Osira both turned to the door, finding your father and Lin walking in, both with large smiles on their faces.
“Oh, I told you!” your mother said as she stood. She gave Lin a ginormous hug, beaming the whole time. You tried to match the smile on all of their faces but couldn’t help but feel a little bit jealous. Your parents never acted that way towards Poe.
“Hello, Y/N,” Lin said, walking towards you. You smiled at him and stood.
“Hello again, Lin.”
“You look beautiful,” he said. Your mother cleared her throat loudly behind the two of you. You chose to ignore her and focused on Lin.
“Thank you. Are you ready to go?”
“I am.” You motioned towards the door and followed behind as Lin walked in step with your father, telling him all about his last trip to Coruscant, and everything they could expect.
“I told you he’d think you look beautiful,” your mother said, bumping your hip.
“I know, Mother,” you said as you stepped outside onto the hangar.
Captain Zaisa was waiting at the foot of your royal starship, a serious look on her face. (Although you were fairly certain she never had any other look on her face). She nodded to all members of your party as they boarded, but locked eyes with you.
“Your Highness, might I have a word?” she asked.
“Of course,” you said, glancing at your mother and giving her a nod to continue in without you. “Is everything alright?”
“General Organa reached out to me yesterday, hoping that I might tag along during your tour.”
“I’m sure that’s not necessary. The senate building is completely safe.”
“I’m afraid it’s not the building she’s worried about,” Zaisa said, dipping her head.
“She wants you there to protect me from Lin?” you asked.
“I report to you only, Your Highness. I don’t wish to go against your wishes, but if there is a threat to you—”
“I understand, Captain,” you said, letting out a sigh. “I would be glad to have you tag along, if only to prove to Leia that she is wrong.” Zaisa smiled and nodded her head.
“I hope you’re right,” she said.
The trip to Coruscant was needlessly long, listening to your parents discuss which one of their many friends might make good assets to the reformation of the new Republic. It seemed that no matter how many friends they could list, there was always another hundred they had forgotten about from the other end of the galaxy. Once your ship landed on Coruscant, you and Lin were the first ones to stand.
“We’re here,” you said, letting out a sigh, muttering under your breath, “Finally.”
“Yes. Your Highness,” he said, offering his arm to you as you approached the descent of your ship, “Let me welcome you to Coruscant.”
You had read about Coruscant in books, seen it a million times in Holo form, but the planet could never be done justice without seeing it in person. It was one giant city, with buildings stretching high up above you, up into the clouds, and down below into the dark abyss surrounding the hangar. Ships flew in every direction around you, with little deterrents to keep them from crashing into one another. It was loud, it was crowded, and it even had a smell that only came from big cities, but it was magnificent. In all the ways that Naboo was gorgeous, Coruscant was the exact opposite, yet its beauty shone through in all the bright lights and endless space surrounding them.
“So, what do you think?” Lin asked.
“I think it’s marvelous.”
“Really? I figured you’d hate it as it’s nothing like Naboo.”
“That doesn’t mean it isn’t beautiful, too,” you said with a smile up at him.
“Ready to see more?”
“I am.”
He led you all over to a cruiser he had arranged for you, which Zaisa inspected thoroughly before you all climbed in. You tried to focus on all you were passing by, your eyes even catching a Space Opera theatre you were dying to check out, but you couldn’t help but notice Zaisa taking it all in excruciatingly more detail.
“Relax,” you said, looking back at her, “Nothing is going to happen.” She gave you a nod to shut you up, and yet you knew that she still didn’t agree with you.
The old senate building looked exactly the way it did in your books. An antique, compared to the newer buildings surrounding it.  As you landed outside of the building, Jem Ologrami was waiting outside of its doors with a smile on her face. Lin helped you out of the cruiser and together the two of you walked over to her, your parents and Zaisa trailing behind.
“Hello, Your Highness,” she said, her accent as thick as ever, “I’m glad you could come for a visit.”
“I’m glad you invited me.” She beckoned you all into the building, where the first thing you saw was an information center and a gift shop. You raised your eyebrows at it not so inconspicuously, drawing Jem’s attention.
“We don’t get that many visitors,” she said, “We’ve got to do anything to keep this building running.” You looked back at your parents, who seemed to have no problem with what could be your future government building expensing through merchandise.
“My parents left this building to me a few years ago, and they always kept it in the most pristine condition. I think that deep down they knew that we would need it someday. I doubt they thought under these circumstances, though,” she said, looking down.
“We’re just glad it’s here when we need it,” you said. “Where is the rotunda?”
She led you down the halls, past many rooms that you wanted to explore, until you finally reached one of the many doors that let into the senate rotunda. It was bigger than you could have ever imagined. You entered in on one of the lower levels, and it seemed as if the levels never stopped growing above your head. Lin laughed his astonishment as well.
“So, what do you think?” Jem asked.
“I think it’s perfect,” you said, still looking up, searching for the top of the building that you were starting to wonder was even there. Jem squealed her excitement, making you laugh as well.
“How about we discuss the details over lunch?” your father suggested. Jem nodded in agreement, and they all started to walk back out into the hall, except for you. The had almost all filtered out the door when Lin noticed you weren’t behind him and turned back for you.
“Are you coming?” he asked.
“Sorry, I just need to get another look at it,” you said, your eyes never leaving the giant room. You had seen it in pictures, Holos, but there was something in person that the room couldn’t convey in pictures. Hope, maybe.
“You’ll get all the chances to look at it when we get it up and running.”
“I won’t be the one sitting in on these meetings,” you said quietly, looking back down.
“Explain that to me again,” he said, sticking his hands in his pants pockets, looking down at you skeptically. “Why aren’t you going to be Naboo’s representative in the senate?”
“Because I’m still queen,” you said plainly.
“For only a few more months.”
“Or two more years if reelected,” you said. “And they’ve discussed extending my current term if things don’t start to look better with the First Order.”
“Alright,” he said, sitting down in one of the seats, “What do you want to do?”
“What?”
“What do you want to do? Continue being queen? Join the senate? Run away and become a Jedi?” he teased. You laughed softly and sat down across from him. “I mean, eventually, you’ll have to do what’s right for you.”
“That sounds fine and good, but it doesn’t always come down to what I want. All of my life it’s seemed like nothing has been what I want.”
“Did you want to become a politician?”
“Once upon a time,” you said with a frown, “I really liked being in the Resistance, though.”
“But then you left.”
“To help protect my planet and my people.”
“Ah, like a good leader would,” he said with a smile. You smiled back at him and shook your head. “What? I really think you belong here. Your mother can show you the ropes, but with all that you’re doing now, it seems like you already are an integral part of our new Republic.”
“And what about you? Are you going to run for your father’s seat?”
“I am,” he said, his smile dimming softly.
“Well, I think you really belong here,” you said quietly. He looked back towards the door. It had been a few minutes since your parents walked away, they must have realized by now that you weren’t following. “Believe me,” you said, reading his mind, “I’m sure they’re just glad we’re spending some time alone together, they don’t care if we are left behind.”
“I see,” he said with a laugh.
“Truthfully,” you said after a pause, “There is a part of me that wants to do this, wants to be here.” His smile widened. “But—”
“But nothing,” he said. “You’ve put in all this work to rebuild the galaxy, I think you deserve to be selfish at least once. And besides, you being selfish and joining the Senate, would be one of the least selfish things you do.”
“You think?” you asked. He turned his body towards the controls of the platform, and before you knew what was happening, he started to detach your platform from the wall and bring it up into the center of the room.
“Don’t you want to belong here?” he asked. “Don’t you want to be a part of this? We’re recreating our government, and I think you deserve to be there every step of the way.”
“I don’t know,” you said, looking around the room that only seemed to grow bigger at its center.
“I do,” he said, taking your hand in his. You looked into his eyes and found no trace of a lie. “You belong here.”
“You know, once I’m done being queen, my parents will push for our engagement.”
“Surprisingly,” he said with a smile, “I’m okay with that.” You watched him for a few moments, thinking about all it would mean if once you were done being queen, you joined the senate. You always assumed that when your terms were up, you would go back to the Resistance, but what if the Resistance wasn’t there anymore? And what if they still didn’t trust you with their secrets? It seemed, the more you thought about it, that you could do a lot more for the galaxy here.
Lin stared right back, waiting for your reaction eagerly, the gentlest of smiles on his face. After a moment, he reached for your hand again and gave you an easy nod. You sighed and gave his hand a slight squeeze.
“Okay,” you said finally.
“Okay?”
“I want to do it. I want to be here.”
“That’s wonderful!” he said, quickly wrapping you in a tight hug, his arms holding snug to your waist. You hugged him back, and when he pulled away, his hands still remained on your waist.
You had looked into his eyes many times, but you had never noticed the color of them until you were this close. You always knew they were blue, but they weren’t just blue. They were the same color as the lakes of Naboo when the sun shined on them. That same crystal clear blue that brought you comfort when you thought of them. And as you leaned in to kiss him, you felt that same comfort of the waves pull you into his arms.
For the past few months, he had been a supportive and understanding friend to you. As the Resistance shut you out, he opened up and was there for you every day. He had helped out with the reconstruction of the village outside of Theed Palace, helped you get away from your parents when you needed, and made you feel not so isolated.
His lips were soft and easy. When he realized that you were the one who initiated the kiss, his grip on your waist tightened and drew your closer to him. Soon, you were just as he was, on your knees in the middle of the giant senate room, your lips melded together. His hands played with the ends of your hair that fell behind your back. They brushed over the zipper at the back of your dress, and you suddenly remembered Nové struggling to pull it up this morning, and then Poe’s difficulty with another one of your dresses.
You pulled away quickly, much quicker than the kiss had started. Lin looked at you, his eyebrows scrunched together, but still that same smile on his face that he always had. He stood up and offered his hand out to you, not asking any questions as he directed the platform back to its spot.
“I think we should get to that lunch now,” Lin said. You agreed and followed him out into the hall where Zaisa was still waiting for you, a curious look on her face. You walked back towards the exit in silence until you got to the front door. You touched his arm gently, drawing his attention.
“About that engagement thing,” you began.
“I don’t need any answers on that,” he said, “Not just yet.”
“I know, but—”
A white-hot flash of light stopped you from saying anything else. Your ears started ringing as the building around you toppled in a loud crash. Quickly, strong arms wrapped around you and sheltered you from the falling debris as a wave of heat washed over you.
When it was over, you looked up from the protective arms of Zaisa to find the entryway to the senate building completely in shambles. Guards and emergency crews arrived in a few seconds after the blast, pulling you and Zaisa out of the mess. As you were escorted to an emergency ship, you saw Lin Ral standing with one of the guards who had come.
You broke away from the droid that was escorting you and raced over to him, checking him for any signs of danger.
“Are you alright?” you asked. When he took notice of you, he let out a sigh and wrapped you in another hug.
“I am. Are you?”
“Yes, I’m fine,” you said, ignoring the calls form the medical droid across the way beckoning for you to come back. “What the hell happened?”
“I don’t know,” he said with a frown, looking back at the guard.
“We’re going to do a full-scale investigation, Your Highness,” he said with a nod of his head, “Please, allow the medical droids to take you both to the hospital to get checked out.”
“What about my parents?”
“It looks as if they weren’t here during the attack.”
“Well, I need to talk to them—”
“Y/N!”
You turned around at your name and saw Zaisa across the way, holding her arm gingerly. You ran over to her, your eyes wide with worry.
“Are you alright?” you asked.
“Don’t worry about me, are you alright?” she asked.
“I’m fine.”
“Well, go to the hospital anyway. And no arguing,” she said firmly. “I’ve reached out to your parents and they’re going to meet you there.” You nodded and looked towards the ship that was going to escort you to the hospital.
“What the hell was this?” you asked.
“I don’t know,” she said with a shake of her head. “But I worry it’s what General Organa warned us about.” You set your jaw and looked back over at Lin, still discussing what had happened with one of the senate guards.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Poe landed his ship back on Yavin-4 after his meeting with Lando. This one had been even shorter than the last. He had given him a few new contacts, what credits he could live without, and a few stolen codes from the First Order. He had transmitted all of this information to Leia, so he assumed that when he landed, he would be met with a smiling face, not the look of worry she had as he walked towards her.
“What? Were you expecting more from Lando?”
“No, that’s not it, Poe.” Her face was serious, so he didn’t press anymore.
“What happened?”
“There was another attack.”
“What?”
“On the senate building on Coruscant.” His heart instantly dropped.
“Y/N.”
“Is fine. She was in the building when the blast was fired, but she got off with only a few scrapes,” she said. He nodded, letting out a shaky breath.
“Was anyone else hurt?”
“Captain Zaisa and Lin Ral were both with her, but they seem to be doing fine as well.”
“How did this happen?” he asked, putting his hands on his waist.
“I don’t know,” she said with a sigh, “But only a few people knew she was going there.”
“Well who?” he asked.
“Everyone who went with her and you and me.”
“So it is Lin, then,” Poe said firmly.
“We don’t know that for sure,” she said, holding up a hand for him to slow down. “I haven’t talked with Y/N yet, there might have been other people who knew as well.”
“Who, like her handmaidens or Broden? They wouldn’t have done this either,” he said firmly.
“I’m just as worried and upset as you are,” Leia said, forcing him to look at her, “But we need to keep our calms for Y/N’s sake.”
“I’m going to see her.”
“I know, and I’m coming with you. We’ve got to talk to her about Lin.”
“So you think he’s the spy, too.”
“I think it would be foolish for us to pretend he’s not our greatest suspect.”
“Alright, well, where is she?”
“Back on Naboo. Her parents took her back once she was doing being checked out at the hospital.”
“Okay then, let’s go.”
“We’ll take the Falcon,” Leia said, leading the way.
Poe knew that if you had been in the ship with him, you would have hated him as he flew to see you. He could not remember a time in recent memory where he had flown this fast or recklessly. Once they came out of lightspeed and started to approach Theed Palace, Leia relinquished the death grip she had on the armrest.
“She’s fine, Poe,” Leia said as he landed the ship. “You didn’t have to fly like that.” He didn’t respond and quickly walked to the exit of the ship and towards the palace. Sondé was waiting out front for them and ushered them inside.
“How is everyone doing?” Leia asked as they walked through the halls of the palace.
“They’re fine. Y/N is resting now. Osira and Henri thought it best that Lin returned home, as his mother was quite worried as well. Captain Zaisa is in a cast, but other than that, they seem to be doing just fine.”
“Is Broden here?” Leia asked, “I would like to speak with him first.”
“I can lead you there, General,” Sondé said with a nod. She looked back at Poe and gave him a delicate smile. “Y/N is in her room. I trust you know the way.”
“I do,” Poe said, moving towards the staircase that led directly up to your chambers. A guard was at the door but let him in without a word. You were in bed when he came in, reading a book, but looked up when you heard him.
“What are you doing here?” you asked, throwing the covers over your nightgown to get out of bed. He moved towards you quickly and made you lay back down in bed.
“Don’t get up,” he said, “I just wanted to make sure you were okay.”
“I’m fine,” you said, stroking his cheek. Poe rubbed your forearm gently and suddenly noticed the bandage along your right arm. “It’s just to keep the burns from getting infected,” you said quickly. “It doesn’t hurt that much.”
“What the hell happened?” he asked.
“They don’t know yet,” you said, scooting over slightly so he could sit closer to you. “My parents went off with Jem, the owner of the old senate building while Lin, Zaisa, and myself stayed to do more touring. On our way out, we were struck. I don’t know what it was or who did it. It might have been a random attack.”
“Do you really believe that?” he asked.
“No one else knew we were there,” you said, “Unless they were waiting for us. It’s not exactly common knowledge, but a few people know that we’ve been looking at the old senate building for our new Republic. It’s possible someone had been watching the building.”
“But who would have told them that?” he asked.
“I don’t know.” Poe scooted closer to you and took your hands in his, looking at you seriously with his dark eyes. “What?”
“I think you have to seriously consider that Lin might be the spy.”
“Poe,” you said, pulling away from him as he kept a firm grip on your hands.
“Baby, no one else knew you were there.”
“A lot of people did. My handmaidens, Broden, my parents, Jem, you, Leia, and whoever else you might have told. Lin probably told a few people, too.” He sighed, rubbing smooth circles on your knuckles. “Why are you so certain it’s him?”
“Why are you so certain it’s not?”
“Because he wouldn’t. I’ve gotten to know him and he wouldn’t, couldn’t do this. Not after . . .”
“Not after what?” Poe asked, the jealousy evident in his voice.
“Nothing,” you said, shaking your head, “I just know he couldn’t have done this.”
“Y/N, you could have been killed today, I think it’s time you stop being so stubborn and realize that Lin is the spy.”
“I’m not being stubborn,” you said, pulling your hands out of his as you climbed out of bed. “You are. You don’t know he’s the spy. A lot of people could have found out we were there. Why would he attack himself?”
“Maybe because he knew the hit wouldn’t kill him. He just wanted to scare you.”
“I don’t believe that,” you said.
“Do you really know him so well that you trust him completely? More than what the facts are clearly telling you?”
“More than what facts?”
“Y/N, no one else—”
“Knew I was there!” you finished, “That’s not true. I’m not saying that I trust him one hundred percent, but I don’t think you’re giving him the benefit of the doubt.” He sighed and walked towards you, putting his hands on your arms, rubbing them softly as he looked at you.
“I won’t leave anything to chance when it comes to you.” You let out a sigh and fell into his chest.
“What are you going to do?” you asked, turning your head so you could speak, but still keeping your head on his chest. “You can’t just accuse him. You don’t have the proof.”
“I don’t know. We could try setting a trap for him.”
“If he finds out you did that and he’s not the spy,” you said, pulling away from him, replacing your head with your hands on his chest, “We’d never get his trust back.”
“I know,” Poe said with a frown.
“Maybe we need to leave a few things to chance,” you said quietly. “I’ll increase security, and we’ll be careful about what we tell him, but right now, confronting him and finding out you’re wrong is nearly as bad as him really being the spy. Either way, we lose him.”
“What’s so wrong with that?” he asked, a small smile growing on his face.
“He’s not horrible, Poe.”
“Are you starting to like him?”
“Like I said, he’s not horrible.” Poe took a step back and looked at you curiously. “What?”
“I’ve just never heard you say anything like that about him.”
“What, are you jealous?” Poe scoffed and shook his head.
“Maybe I should go,” he said, moving towards the door.
“Poe, wait.” He looked back at you sadly and you realized you didn’t have anything else to say. Nothing that wouldn’t make things worse. “I didn’t mean that. It’s just been a long day.”
“I know. I’m glad you’re alright. You need to get your rest.”
“You can stay,” you said quietly. He sighed and came back to you, putting his hands on your waist.
“I’ve got to check in with Leia and we’ll have to head back. I’m really glad you’re alright,” he said. He leaned in to kiss your forehead. “Stay safe, Y/N/N.”
“You too.”

So, without citing the Title Crawl, how are the Empire the bad guys again? Keep in mind, Rogue One is canon.
Let’s see... they blew up the city on Jedah.. ok but that was being ran by a bunch of Terrorists [like the throw a bag over your head and behead you if you’re Imperial kind of Terrorists (THIS IS YOUR VAUNTED “HEROIC REBELLION”. Basically, they’re ISIS.)], one of whom notably killed Moff Panaka. (You know, the Royal Guard Captain from Naboo?) This directly caused the tensions leading to the rebellion on Naboo. Honestly, they messed up by not firing using all reactors. Should’ve blew the whole damn planet up. They blew up Scarif. The base was lost to terrorists. They chased down a diplomatic cruiser. Nope, it was an active participant at the battle of Scarif. They killed people who were in contact with R2-D2 and C-3PO. Well, yeah, because they knew those Droids were in possession of top secret information. (Seriously, they should’ve shot the lifepods anyway). They blew up Alderaan, a state sponsor of, you guessed it, Terrorism. Anything else they do is literally an act of war.

HEY, LET ME YELL ABOUT SOME STAR WARS SHIPS.  THE FLYING KIND THIS TIME.  One of the banes of my existences is loving the worldbuilding of a particular canon, but not having it laid out for me in a way that’s organized for me to easily find what I’m looking for at any given moment.  And flipping through (the sadly no longer canon, but still incredibly useful!) Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Incredible Vehicles (see here for info!) really helped me get my head around a lot of it and finally able to organize these pages into a more “easy to find what kind of vehicle you need for a specific type of scene” list! But what I really wanted was to see a canon reference guide organized into size/use sections, to better reference when I needed either a massive star ship or when I needed to know the name of a speeder a given character might use.  (This focuses on the Clone Wars era, but if you want Empire/Rebellion era or First Order era info, feel free to give me a yell.) Encyclopedia of Starfighters and Other Vehicles: MASSIVE SHIPS:   ➞ Republic Attack Cruiser -  “The war between the Republic and the Separatists leads to a demandfor larger and more powerful battleships.  The Republic Navy expands to include the Reupblic attack cruisers, massive warships often referred to as "Star Destroyers". (Venator-class Star Destroyers can carry more than 420 starfighters (including V-wings, X-95 Headhunters, and Jedi starfighters); 40 LAAT/i gunships; and 24 AT-ETs.)"   ➞ Acclamator-class Assault Ship (Transgalactic Military Transport Ship) - "These assault ships are a predecessor of the later Star Destroyers.  They are built for the Clone Wars, under false orders supposedly issued by the Jedi Council.  This is all part of Darth Sidious's evil plan to take over the galaxy.  (During the Clone Wars, Acclamator-class ships are stationed at Coruscant, ready to carry clone troopers across the galaxy.)(Unlike many craft of this size, Acclamator-class assault ships can land on planets, where they deploy Republic forces in an effort to retake the worlds from Separatist control.)(Each Acclamator-class assault ship requires a crew of 700 and can carry up to 16,000 clone troopers.)"   ➞ Malevolence (Subjugator-class Heavy Cruiser) - During the Clone Wars, General Greivious's huge flagship leaves death and devastation in its wake.  Its massive ion cannons disrupt the control systems of surrounding ships, disabling their energy weapons and deflector shields.  (Four times longer than a Venator-class Star Destroyer, the Malevolence has an internal shuttle train system to deploy supplies and troops and is crewed by 900 battle droids.)"   ➞ AA-9 Coruscant Freighter - "The AA-9 Coruscant Freighters are originally built to haul cargo.  During the war with the Separatists, the Refugee Relief Movement has them transformed into vessels that can help people in need.  The freighters transport [up to 30,000] refugees from planets that have fallen under enemy control."   ➞ Pelta-class Frigate (Republic Medical Frigate) - "During the Clone Wars, the Pelta-class frigate is a common sight at the edges of space battles.  It is used by the Republic Navy to treat injured clone soldiers.  The more honorable generals in the Separatist fleet usually don't attack it.)  Each Pelta-class frigate can carry up to 900 crew, and is equipped with 16 escape pods.  Phoenix Home is modified to include turbo laser batteries.)”    ➞ Invisible Hand (Providence-class Dreadnought) - “Commanded by General Grievous, the Invisible Hand plays a key role in the last great battle of the Clone Wars.  With the sinister Sith Lord Count Dooku holding Chancellor Palpatine prisoner aboard the failing ship, the Jedi Order must rush to the rescue.  (The Invisible Hand is a difficult ship to attack.  There are 20 squadrons of droid starfighters ready to defend it.  Count Dooku turns the ship upper sensor tower into his lair, calling it the "Wizard's Tower".)(The Invisible Hand is controlled with a droid brain.  This means that Anakin Skywalker can override controls and fly the ship.  It's still a bumpy landing!)"    ➞ Coronet (Personal Spaceliner) - “The Coronet is Duchess Satine Kryze of Mandalore's personal luxury spaceliner.  This one-of-a-kind ship is practically a spacefaring palace.  It serves as a testament to the engineering and wealth of the Mandalorians.  (The lower decks of the Coronet are used for cargo transport.  The ship requires a crew of 75, and has eight engines all working in unison.)" STARFIGHTERS:   ➞ V-Wing - "Small, fast, and agile, the V-wing starfighter is used late in the Clone Wars by the Republic.  With ltitle in the way of firepower or armor, V-wing pilots use swarm strategies to overwhelm their opponents, assisted by an astromech droid."   ➞ V-19 Torrent Starfighter -  "The V-19 is used during the early days of the Clone Wars.  It becomes a popular fighter for the rapidly expanding Republic Navy.  Originally designed to be a short-range fighter, the V-19 later underdoes a series of upgrades that make it suitable for much longer flights."   ➞ ARC-170 Starfighter - "This three-person starfighter is durable and reliable.  It carries a formidable arsenal, as well as sufficient supplies for five days.  It should come as no surprise that the ARC-170s rapidly replace the V-19s as the Republic's primary dogfighter during the Clone Wars.  (The ARC-170s are so dependable that both the Empire and rebel forces continue to use the starfighters after the Clone Wars.  They become the template for the first generation of X-wings.)"   ➞ Y-Wing - "Designed for bombing raids, the Y-wing is a sleek ship originally used by the Galactic Republic.  Y-wings find new life as starfighters for the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War.  Stripped of every non-essential system and endlessly repaired by rebel mechanics, they remain popular with Alliance pilots.  (The first Y-wings used in the Clone Wars have a gunner's station above the cockpit.  In later models, one operator serves as pilote and gunner.)"   ➞ ETA-2 Light Interceptor (Jedi Starfighter) - The ETA-2 Interceptor's popularity with the Jedi Order earns it the nickname the Jedi Starfighter.  It is one of the fastest and most responsive starships produced during the Clone Wars.  Almost every Jedi flies one, customizing the craft to meet their unique skills and requirements.  (The Jedi starfighter uses heavy weaponry, but the power drain prevents constant firing.  Most Jedi remove the sensors and targeting equiment to save weight and space.)"   ➞ Delta-7 Light Interceptor (Specialized Jedi Starfighter) - The Delta-7 is designed specifically for the Jedi and is in frequen use long before the Clone Wars beigin.  As more Jedi leave the temples to join the war effort, their combat ships are swiftly upgraded to keep pace with the enemy's crafts.  This prompts the creation of the Delta-7B.  (There are small improvements from the Delta-7 to the 7B.  The Delta-7 has a wing part for an astromech, while the 7B places the port in front of the cockpit.  The Delta-7B also boasts a tougher central hull that its predecessor.)"   ➞ Naboo Starfighter (N-1 Starfighter) - Bold and beautiful in its design, the N-1 starfighter is the signature ship of the Royal Naboo Security Forces.  Its forward section is clad in chromium for ceremonial display, and its sleek shape is as much an expression of art as aerodynamics.  (The Naboo starfighter's long tail acts as a power charge collector.  The similarly shaped engine tails serve as heat sinks.)"   ➞ Republic Frigate (Consular-class Cruiser) - "Used by the Jedi and the Galactic Senate on diplomatic missions before the Clone Wars, these cruisers are retrofitted as combat frigates when war breaks out.  Their upgrades include armored hull plating and laser cannon batteries.  (Republic cruisers that have undergone the Charger c70 retrofit for use in the Clone Wars are longer than those that have not.)" AIRCRAFT (SPACE):   ➞ Stealth Ship (Corvette with a Cloak) - "The Republic's stealth ship is able to turn invisible.  It is designed with an experimental cloaking device, which allows it to sneak past Separatist blockades.  As well as being impossible to see when cloaked, it is undetectable by scanners and sensors.  (The stealth ship cannot fire its laser cannons or proton torpedos while cloaked, but it can launch flares to confuse enemy tracking torpedoes.)"   ➞ Republic Tugboat - Republic Tubgoats are used during the Clone Wars to maneuver massive warships into docking ports at space stations.  These tugboats are low on shields and have no weapons but are equipped with powerful engines and tractor beams."   ➞ Turtle Tanker - "Originally designed to haul minerals from asteroid mines, the bulk tankers (commonly known as "Turtle Tankers") are cheap and easy to build.  This makes them a familiar sight in established space lanes.  However, their lack of weaponry makes them a rare choice outside of heavily trafficked areas."   ➞ T-6 Shuttle (Jedi Ambassador Shuttle) - "This innovative shuttle design has a lasting impact on starship technology.  It is built by the insectoid Verpine, and features rotating wings that allows the rest of the ship an exception degree of motion.  Members of the Jedi Order use the shuttles frequently."   ➞ Eta-Class Shuttle (Ambassadorial Transport) - These comfy shuttles are first used by the Galactic Senate for diplomatic missions.  Later on, they are regularly employed by the Jedi in the Clone Wars.  Robust and suited to long-range travel, an Eta-class shuttle is chosen for a mission in Wild Space beyond the Outer Rim. (An Eta-class shuttle comfortably seats ten passengers and two pilots.  There is also room for emergency transport, such as two Undicar-class jumpseeders.)"   ➞ Twilight (Corellian G9 Rigger Freighter) - The Twilight is originally the property of crime lord Ziro Desilijic Tiure.  It is later claimed by Anakin Skywalker, who puts it to use during the Clone Wars.  This old ship is conidered massively out of date, so Anakin spends a large amount of his free time upgrading the vehicle.  (The side of the Twilight is decorated with a cartoonish painting of young Anakin's podracing.  The ship's upgraded weapons system causes random color shifts in the lasers.)"   ➞ Crucible (Paladin-class Corvette) - "Custom-built for the Jedi in the time of the Old Republic, the Crucible has been in service for quite some time.  It is used in the training of Jedi younglings, who learn how to contstruct their own lightsabers from crystals while aboard."   ➞ H-Type Nubian Yacht (Shimmering Senator's Ship) - "This yacht is the personal transport of Senator Padme Amidala.  It is a luxury ship, designed for comfort rarthe than combat, but does have very powerful shielding in case of an attack.  The vehicle is coated in royal chromium, reflecting its owner's high status."   ➞ Naboo Royal Cruiser (Custom-build J-type Diplomatic Barge) - The invasion of Naboo convinces the peaceful planet to upgrate its diplomatic vessels.  Though it still travels without weapons, this barge is far faster and better shielded than the J-type Nubian starship that came before it.  It also boats a range of backup systems in case of malfunctions or sabotage.  (The J-type diplomatic barge has spacious interiors designed for comfort.  It has room for four prestigious passengers as well as up to five crew and six guards.)"   ➞ Naboo Royal Starship (Modified J-Type 327) - This sleek ship is crafted to be a visual representation of the glory of Naboo.  It has no weapons, but it is shielded in case of attack.  It also has multiple astromech units, each one capable of making emergency repairs. (This ship is exclusive to the royal family of Naboo.  It includes quarters for the Queen and her handmaidens, equipped with climate-controlled wardrobes.)"   ➞ Naboo Star Skiff (J-type Star Skiff) - “Weapons on a Naboo royal ship are unheard of until this vessel is manufactured.  It also has a duller, more practical finish compared to traditional gleaming Naboo ships.  Unfortunately, the Naboo have had to adapt their ship designs for the harsh realities of battle during the Clone Wars. (The J-type star skiff is designed and built for Queen Apailana, the monarch of Naboo, in the latter days of the Clone Wars.  However, the ship is also made available for Senator Padme Amidala, the former queen.)" AIRCRAFT (PLANETSIDE):  ➞ LAAT (Low Altitude Assault Transport) - "The dependable LAAT is one of the Republic's main deployment craft.  Heavily armrored and highly maneuverable, this war transport is often sent into combat under fire.  It can glide through a storm of lasers to safely land its cargo and troops."  ➞ Republic Attack Shuttle - With heavier armor and shielding than most atmosphere vessels, the Republic attack shuttle is a long-range alternative to the LAAT gunship.  It is replaced by other shuttle designs after the Clone Wars, but one remains in service of the rebel Cham Syndulla during the time of Empire. (The Republic attack shuttle has a tractor beam, which is usual for a transport.  It also has magnetic clamps on its underside to clasp cargo and other smaller vessels.  A variant Nu-class transport has an enclosed cargo bay built in between the wings.)"
GROUNDCRAFT:   ➞ Clone Turbo Tank - "This 10 wheeled tank can deliver as many as 300 clone troopers into the heart of the battle in one trip.  It is designed to roll over any terraing with ease and to absorb enemy fire with no loss of function.  After proving effect in the Clone Wars, the tank stays in use during the age of Empire."   ➞ AT-RT - "Fast, nimble, and powerful, AT-RTs are used furing the brutal land battles of the Clone Wars.  A single clone trooper will usually pilot these as a scout, ranging ahead of the battlefront and gathering intel for the main force."   ➞ Stun Tank - "This Republic tank is primarily an anti-aircraft weapon.  It's ion cannon drains energy from the ship it targets, leaving them helpless.  Despite being designed for use against droid vehicles, the tank sees little use during the Clone Wars."   ➞ AT-OT (All Terrain Open Transport) - "The imposing AT-OT has an open-top design, leaving it vulnerable to attack from above.  Their role during the Clone Wars is to quickly move troops, rather than engage in battle."   ➞ AT-TE (All Terrain Tactical Enforcer) - "The AT-TE looks more ilke a huge robotic insect than a military transport.  It is used during the Clone Wars to move large numbers of troops through battle, and to operate as a mobile command center."   ➞ SPHA-T (Self-propelled Heavy Artillery Turbolaser) - "Bearing one of the bigger ground guns used by the Republic Army, this 12-legged walker is a low but steady feature throughout the Clone Wars.  Its turbolaser can destroy a starship, but can only operate for a limited time.  This is because each blast uses up a vast amount of energy."   WATERCRAFT:   ➞ Naboo Water Speeder - "The serene lakes of Naboo are the planet's most famous sight, renowned across the galaxy for their peaceful vistas.  In their free time, the Naboo take luxurious pleasure speeders out onto the water, exploring the hidden coves and majestic waterfalls. (The D-11 is manufactured by the same company as the N-1 starfighter and the two craft share many design features, despite being built to operate in very different environments.) (The D-11 water speeders were build specially for the use of the queen and the royal household.  A selection of the royal boathouse is set aside for their recharging and maintenance, however Padme Amidala is less indulgent than some previous queens, and the D-11s are seldom used.)"   ➞ Tribubble Bongo (Gungan Bongo Submarine) - These semi-organic subarmines have hulls that are grown rather than built, so no two are exactly alike.  The Gungans equip them with hydrostatic bubble shields to keep the air in and the water out, and use them to explore the oceans of their home planet, Naboo." SPEEDERS:  ➞ Barc Speeder - "This powerful speeder bike is designed for use by ARC (Advanced Recon Commando) troopers, but goes on to be piloted by other Republic fighters during the Clone Wars.  Ideal for scouting missions, it is also used by police patrols on Coruscant."  ➞ Jedi Turbo Speeder (Praxis Mk. 1 Turbo Speeder) - "An elegantly designed turbo speeder, the Praxis Mk. 1 is piloted by members of the Jedi Order when traveling around the city planet of Coruscant.  Its thing, wedge-like design cuts down on wind resistance, and the navigation systems are programmed to bypass heavy traffic.  (The Praxix Mk. 1 turbo speeder is equipped with collision-detection systems to help its pilot avoid accidents.  Twin repulsor generators allow the ship to run upside-down in midair.)" PUBLIC & PERSONAL TRANSPORT:   ➞ CSS-1 Corellian Star Shuttle - “"Built for diplomacy rather than battle, the CSS-1 shuttle has an impressive meeting room and comfortable quarters for VIP guests.  It can carry up to 200 passengers, as well as enough supplies to last for three years.  It is also equipped with an unusually strong deflector shield.  (Shortly after his appointment to Supreme Chancellor of the Republic, Sheev Palpatine ant he Jedi Council travel together to Naboo aboard the CSS-1 name the Perpetuus.)”   ➞ Taylander Shuttle - The Taylandor Shuttles are civilian transport vehicles during the final years of the Republic.  They are a common sight amongst the peaceful Core Worlds, but are even found in the far reaches of the Outer Rim."   ➞ H-2 Executive Shuttle - "The senators and even Chancellor Palpatine are among the high-profile users of this luxurious ship.  Palpatine's model is docked to allow direct access from his chambers in the Senate Office Building on Coruscant.  It makes for a comfy escape craft if the building is attacked."   ➞ Theta-Class T-2C Shuttle - “These ships are built by Cygnus Spaceworks, under special order by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine.  They have never been available for purchase.  The model is eventually incorporated into the Imperial fleet, but only for the highest-ranking officers."   ➞ Luxury Yacht (Personal Luxury Yacht 3000) - "In the time of the Republic, diplomats use luxury yachts for meetings and travel.  They become less popular during the chaos of the Clone Wars, when they are seen as easy targets for pirates and Separatists.  (Luxury yachts are common vehicles in wealthier systems.  Built for comfort, they include a grand observation deck and a swimming pool, as well as five personal cabins for crew and guests.)"

Long Live the Queen: Part Six
Tumblr media
“Alderaan, huh?” the man said. He was a gruff-looking smuggler—typical of the riff-raff that cycled in and out of Tatooine’s seedy bars and spaceports. Places like these were hives for their sort.
“Yes. One way,” said Obi-wan.
“Cargo?” asked the smuggler.
“Only passengers. Myself, the woman, the boy, and no questions asked.”
The smuggler chuckled.
“Alderaan’s a pretty easy jump. Especially for a ship like the Millenium Falcon.”
“Is it a fast ship?” asked Padmé.
“Fast ship?” the smuggler said, looking dumbfounded. “You’ve never heard of the Millenium Falcon?”
“Should I have?” Padmé said.
“She’s the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs. She’s fast enough for you, beautiful. What’s the matter? Trying to get off-world in a hurry? Some kind of local trouble?”
“Let’s just say we want to avoid any Imperial entanglements,” said Obi-wan.
“Well, that’s the real trick, isn’t it?” the smuggler chuckled. “And it’ll cost you extra. Ten thousand. All in advance.”
“Ten thousand!” Padmé exclaimed, probably a little too loudly. “If you had any idea who you were dealing with—”
“Quiet down, Padmé,” said Obi-wan, placing a hand on her shoulder. “We will pay you two thousand now, and an extra fifteen when we reach Alderaan.”
“Seventeen?” the smuggler said, sitting back in his chair. “Alright, you have yourselves a deal. Meet me in docking bay ninety-seven.”
“Ninety-seven,” Obi-wan repeated.
*****
Padmé dragged what little luggage she had up the Falcon’s boarding ramp. Luke followed closely behind, his hand gripped tightly in hers. When she stepped inside, she once again found herself missing the luxuries of her royal Naboo cruiser.
“Mom, this ship smells,” Luke said. She turned to him and placed a silent finger over her lips.
Somewhere in the ship, they heard a Wookie yell.
“That would be my copilot, Chewbacca,” said the smuggler. “Don’t mind him and he won’t mind you. And… don’t say anything about the smell.”
Padmé shot Luke a glance. He turned his face down in embarrassment.
“But I’m a bit anxious to put some space between myself and this planet, so if you’ll just strap yourselves in, I’ll make the preparations for takeoff.”
The man indicated a small leather sofa situated against the far wall across from the navicomputer station. The three of them sat down and fastened the restraints across their waists. The smuggler and his Wookie disappeared down a hallway, walking towards what must be the cockpit.
“Well, I’ve been in less comfortable places,” Obi-Wan said, trying to lighten the dreary mood inside the freighter.
“Oh, I don’t know,” Padmé said. “I thought that our stay on Geonosis was pretty enjoyable. Or perhaps you were talking about that business on Cato Neimoidia?”
Obi-Wan shuddered and smiled. “Oh, don’t remind me,” he said.
The ship shuddered and tipped to one side. They could hear the noise of the engines working to lift them off the ground. In only a few minutes, the ship would be free from Tatooine’s gravitational influence and they could make the hyperspace jump towards Alderaan.
“Mommy, where are we going?” Luke asked.
“I already told you. It is somewhere far away. It’s another planet, called Alderaan. That’s… that’s where I will leave you. Ben will take you someplace else. Someplace safe.”
“But I don’t want to leave you, mom.”
“I know. I don’t want to leave you either. But this is the only way. Remember? I told you that you were important. You’re the most important little boy in the whole galaxy. You’re going to go help so many people. You are going to become a Jedi, like your father. You will learn about the Force.”
“The Force?”
It was Obi-Wan’s turn to speak.
“The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It is an energy field that exists inside all living things. It surrounds us and binds us and… holds the galaxy together.”
Luke seemed very uninterested.
“It… er… it also lets you do tricks like this,” Obi-wan said.
He held out his hand towards the pile of luggage in the corner. One of the bags began to move. It lifted itself off the ground, hovering in midair as if held aloft by invisible hands.
Luke’s eyes grew wide.
“You’ll teach me to do that?” Luke asked.
Obi-wan nodded.
“And so much more. The Force is the pathway to unlocking unimaginable power. But you must always remember to use it for good. Never to hurt. Only to help.”
Luke nodded.
“Which reminds me,” Obi-Wan said. “I have something for you.”
“A present?” Luke asked.
“Yes. Something like that. Come here, I’ll show you.”
Luke and Obi-Wan unfastened their seat belts. Obi-Wan opened his own luggage and began to rummage through it. After a few moments, he pulled out a long, metal cylinder.
“What is it?” Luke asked.
“Your father’s lightsaber. It is the weapon of a Jedi knight—not as clumsy or random as a blaster. It is an elegant weapon… for a more civilized age. Take it. It is yours.”
“Ben! You aren’t giving my son a weapon. He is hardly ten years old.” Padmé protested.
“Relax, Padmé,” said Obi-Wan. “I wasn’t much younger than he was when I constructed my first lightsaber. And that was after I had spent the better part of a day alone in the frozen ice caves of Ilum, searching for a crystal. Anakin did the same. So has every Jedi from the beginning.”
Before his mother could protest any further, the cabin of the Millennium Falcon suddenly echoed with the crackling hum of electrified plasma. The beam of a lightsaber cast a soft blue glow over the faces in the room. Luke was absolutely awestruck by the magical weapon he held in his hand. He swung it back and forth, listening to its power as it hummed and sliced through the air.
“Looks like you’ve found yourselves a pretty little toy,” a voice said. The smuggler was suddenly standing in the entryway to the cabin, leaning casually on the wall.
“It’s been awhile since I’ve seen one of those. Couple of years, at least,” he said. “Are you folks looking to make some quick cash? I know a fella named Grakkus. He goes nuts for that old Jedi stuff. Don’t ask me why. That guy’s about as sane as a rabid loth-cat.”
“I’m afraid we won’t be selling the lightsaber,” said Obi-Wan. “And don’t think about trying to steal it from us, either, or your hand might just come with it.”
The smuggler raised his hands in mock surrender, but his face kept that same sarcastic smirk it always did.
“Alright, I won’t get any ideas,” he said. “I’m just the pilot, after all. Speaking of which, we’re about to make the jump to lightspeed, so make sure you’re sitting down and your tray tables are up and all that good stuff…”
He turned and disappeared back into the cockpit. A few moments later, the engines whined and the ship shook subtly. They were on their way to Alderaan.
