Oh you caught me on a GREAT day for toxic yuri. I was just reading Kill Me Now this morning so I am just Raring to go about girls in love in ways that are just deeply fucked up and potentially lethal.

We're going noncanon-DR3 for this one, because in the context of Junkan it's just what I prefer. There IS something interesting about Junko taking a very vulnerable young woman craving love and physically removing her agency entirely to string her around a relationship like a beautiful little marionette to love Junko however she wants, and the ways that extreme would speak as a representation of manipulative relationships in general and a peek into what Junko truly wants.

But that's not really my jive beyond its narrative implications. Junko is manipulating Mikan either way, of course. But something I truly love about despair!Mikan in SDR2 is that, when she reveals her colors, she isn't exhibiting the symptoms of an abused young girl the way she did when she wasn't in despair. Despair Mikan is vibrant. She's confident. She's HAPPY, deliriously so, isolated and lashing out and so, so free. She says outright that she doesn't give a shit about despair. She doesn't want to be unhappy. She just wants love. She is so, so in love.

And the implication of this (imo) is that, at some point in their relationship, there's a shift. Junko is reeling Mikan in like a fish on a hook because that's what she does. And at some point, to put it simply - Mikan Chooses to fall into despair. She actively wants what Junko is doing for her. There is a moment, somewhere along the way, where Mikan looks at what she's going to become flat in the face, and goes: Yes. This, too, I will do, for love. And for control.

Because for Mikan, love IS control. The control people had over her, which they exercised so poorly, presumably - in her mind - because that's the love she deserved. The love a nurse has for her patients, because Mikan LOVES the control she has over her patients, loves that they depend on her, loves knowing she could kill them if they crossed her. Would love if she could kill Anyone if they crossed her. Deep down, Mikan craves the ability to continue the cycle of which she is a victim. She wants to hold lives in her hands. She wants to feel the dwindling beat of a dying heart in her palm, ripped from the people who hurt her. She wants blood. She wants vengeance for herself.

She is just waiting for someone to give her permission. Someone to love. Someone to hand over control to, who will use her the way she wants to be used.

Junko LOVES control.

your current situation was this: you were standing next to one of the top detectives, kyoko kirigiri, was surrounded by a bunch of officers while the skull and several teeth of a human laid in front of you. though right now it was kyoko's turn with the single notepad provided, you were carefully analyzing the remains. suddenly something sparked in your head. pulling out the crumpled picture of the suspected victim, r/p/n, you traced over the shape of his skull with your pen, looking at the one in front of you then the picture. "guys, i've figured it out. these remains belong to r/p/n," you announced, folding the picture neatly into a small square before shoving it into your pocket again. "good job, s/o. now all we have to do is look for r/p/n's killer," kyoko stated, in which you nodded in response. inside, you felt proud and a tad bit excited because the top detective, which you may or may not have been competing with, had just praised you. (bonus points if you have a praise kink)

"wait, fukawa. this body has a weird aura to it," you lifted your hand up to a "wait" gesture, squatting down to get a closer inspection of the remains. "s/o! just b-because you're the ultimate forensic a-anthropologist doesn't mean y-you have t-to inspect every s-single body you r-run pass!" toko stuttered angrily out before grabbing the back of your shirt's collar in an attempt to drag you away from the body. "toko! i'm trying to focus, the more you interrupt, the longer i'll take," that wasn't necessarily true since you could focus in almost any environment, especially noisy ones. however that didn't mean you liked to study or do something in noisy and unsuitable environments. toko waited impatiently for you, occasionally turning left, right and behind to see if any ghosts were about to grab her shoulders. "wait. is this..." you started to panic, and grabbed the hand's bone with your own gloved one. "t-this is s/n... this is them, i know it, this... was this..." tears started to well up in your eyes as you squeezed the hand of your sibling. "s-s/o? are you okay? w-what happened?" you couldn't form a sentence, no matter how much you tried, so all you did was shake your head. "s/o..." toko knelt down and pulled you into a tight hug.

"you guys have to figure out whom this corpse belongs to, or else... it's punishment time! pupupupu!" monokuma explained, of course ending it off with his signature, evil laugh. you looked around at everyone, them doing the same. you hadn't told anyone in the killing game your ultimate and had lied about being the ultimate toymaker instead. though you were nervous about revealing to everyone you'd lied about your talent, it was an emergency. if you guys didn't find out whose corpse that was, you'd all be punished. quickly making your way to the skeleton, everyone stared at you, clearly confused. after a few minutes of you analyzing and scanning the hard tissue, you suddenly broke the tense silence by announcing your conclusion. "these bones belong to the ultimate pop sensation, sayaka maizono," everyone looked at you, different faces with different expressions, most shocked and confused and some amused. "how did you know s/o?" celeste questioned with a menacingly sweet tone, "i just knew. monokuma, our final guess is sayaka maizono," you made a weak attempt to dodge celeste's, and probably everyone else's question. "bingo! give that student a prize! they've guessed it correctly!" you all jumped at the voice at the door of the assembly hall. it was... junko enoshima? hadn't she been impaled by the spears of gungnir? "yyeeeeaaa... sooooo... since y'know s/o carried this whole trial... you all, but s/o will be executed! it's punishment tiiiiiime!" junko laughed, taking everyone by surprised yet again. "you're the fucking mastermind?!!" mondo screamed, appalled. "of couursee, why wouldn't i be? i'm the smartest, most sexiest, most beautiful person here! would you like those to be your final words?" you couldn't believe what you were seeing or hearing or witnessing. you couldn't even move. was this how... everything was going to end?

familial hcs for mukuro & junko? any takes you have on how mukuro would grow as a person if junko wasn't in their life would be cool too if you feel like it!

They shared a bedroom from a young age. Mukuro tried to keep it tidy, but Junko was naturally messy. And somehow, Mukuro always got blamed when their room looked like it had been turned upside down and shaken.

Junko tended to pin the blame for something - like stealing the last cookie from the cookie jar - on Mukuro. If not for the few times that Mukuro had alibis, their parents would believe Junko all the time. Luckily, they were aware of Junko's lying tendencies.

Mukuro always had to remind Junko to take her meds, because Junko somehow always conveniently forgot to take them. (Mukuro was so proud they almost cried when Junko finally started taking them on her own.)

Mukuro really liked crosswords, but had issues with spelling and memory, so Junko would act as their spellcheck and thesaurus.

Junko didn't like to take care of any injuries she got - "But sis, getting an infection would be sooo despairing!" - so Mukuro always had to double-check to make sure she did. Eventually, they started buying cute themed band-aids as an incentive.

You know, I think there's great potential in a Chiaki/Mikan/Junko poly ship. I just imagine a looney tunes-eque slapstick where Junko and Chiaki keep trying to kill each other and Mikan patches them up afterwards. It could start with Chiaki trying to save Mikan from Junko only to get suckered into their toxic relationship herself. As I said to someone else on the relationship: "Mikan is just happy to be with two girls who love her genuinely (if only they'd stop trying to kill each other!
