" wait! Aren't you one of those old unicorn spell casters? But- Opaline said they all died off with Twilight! " // Misty to star breeze
There's several moments of silence.
The unicorn studies his fellow, pink eyes careful and suspicious. It's been... Certainly a while since he'd heard Twilight's name. But then again, he was certain he'd never heard of an Opaline, so it's about fair.
Finally, he snuffs a bit and allows his horn to wink out. The book he'd been holding in his magic lowers towards the floor before he catches it in his hoof. She seemed harmless enough. He could indulge this question.
"I'm older than Twilight, actually. But yes. I'm a mage."
He closes the book and slides it into his saddlebag, looking from the mares horn to her face finally. He'd never gotten around to asking why unicorns had developed those markings on their horns, had he? Breeze should ask some time. Pony morphology had gotten very interesting over the centuries.
"Why are you asking? Is there something you need done?" @poniesgalore

runningwash runningwash is bluestar and greypool's only kit, replacing stone misty & moss. they grew up in riverclan with greypool, but after seeing her be killed by tigerstar and then leopardstar team up with him, they left to go join thunderclan. they quickly bonded with cats like longtail and mousefur, almost immediately gaining thunderclan's respect and formally apologizing to brightheart for bluestar's treatment of her. they fought with lionclan during the war, eventually going back to riverclan to become their leader after leopardstar's death. runningwash's loyal, cunning reputation still holds up in both clans.

do you have anymore background characters youve given new info? ie mintflower and stormcloud idk if the question made sense
OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD LETS GO;
Sorreltail has epilepsy, loves grasshoppers, is hyper and loves getting in trouble with Squilf. She becomes head of kitchen patrol
Deerfoot, Tangleburr, and Runningnose are extremely important characters in TPB now, as representations of politics in ShadowClan
Graypool has a surviving biokitten who was raised as the brother of Misty and Stone; Swansong
Havenpelt is an ex-rogue
Olivenose is an ex-kittypet
Talonpaw survives into Talonclaw and is the son of Tangleburr
Smokepaw survives as well and becomes Smokefall. They are gay.
Bumble is a huge part of DOTC and the very reason why ThunderClan is formed, eventually being worshipped as a language god
Plumstone and Thriftear are shrewd partners who have SCARY good teamwork, and are gay
Fernstripe can't cook and loves board games
Shellfur is a mean but funny jackass who goes very far for his wife
Harestar and his goddamn tunnelbun habits
Mumblefoot was dyspraxic
Wildfur made the entire journey while paralyzed
Littlecloud has catastrophic autism levels and is best friends with Cinderpelt, plus being the brother of Rowanstar
Stumptail is a simpleminded guy with a heart of gold
Billystorm was a himbo
Billybrook/Stormbrook is deathly afraid of water because of a traumatising experience with it
Swallowtail was mates with Rainwhisker and would have done something more drastic if he hadn't died in the WindClan Rebellion, but she did have two kits (Rippletail and Rainstorm)
Brightheart does surrogacy for cats in other Clans sometimes
Stoneclaw, a cat mentioned in only one field guide, is surviving and becomes a reliable warrior of WindClan
Morningflower LOVES to joke around and is a fantastic mentor
Oakfur, Morningflower, and Rosepetal have a little gathering clique and rivalry.
Owlclaw of ShadowClan, Harestar and Kestrelflight of WindClan, are all secretly brothers from a Whitewater x Mudclaw pairing
Longtail comes out of retirement to mentor Jayfeather and was the previous deputy before Graystripe
Snapstorm and Brushblaze are ex-bloodclan traders who ended up settling in WindClan
Perchshine, who killed Mapleshade, went to the barn and was mates with the cat who had a broken jaw, Domino
He had a daughter named Magpiesky who rejoined RiverClan
Sedgecreek was mates with Greenflower, but broke it off after Greenflower disowned Swallowtail for suspicion of a halfclan relationship
Reedwhisker's apprenticeship was extended for an entire year because his aunt/mentor, Skyheart, is a horrible person
Ratscar raised Snowbird alone, when their mother Appledapple died. Snowbird is his little sister
Ratscar is gay and fools around with Blackstar and Iceheart
He is considered extremely attractive in Clan society and he flaunts his charisma
Flowerstem in ShadowClan becomes Flowerscar after earning an honor title
Lakeheart's sister Dapplepaw got eaten by a fish and Dappletuft was named after her
Harelight has an honor title because he is now a light in the mist. His old name was Harefur.
Mistystar liked to give litters matching names, for example, Dappletuft, Harefur, and Softpelt were all hair-related.
Squirrelflight’s tail is a family trait seen in her grandfather Redtail, and his mother Rosetail
Rosetail was aromantic (cupioromantic for a while specifically) but LOVED matchmaking. She was always asking Redtail when he was going to start seeing Runningwind.
Mudclaw won't eat his bugs; this is akin to a grown man not eating his vegetables
Tornear's name is now Torear, a small rocky outcrop seen in moorlands
Both Mudclaw and Torear were cooking mamas. Mudclaw passed this onto Crowfoot. Torear was exasperated by how Harestar was so gauche he would bite tunnelbuns. Where did he go wrong??
OH yes, Torear raised Harespring and Kestrelflight, he is their dad. Queen’s Rights applies to all three genders.
Russetfur's favorite food is rat
Snowkit died shoving Tawnykit out of the way of the hawk. He was religious and loved stargazing and glyph writing
Speckletail died attacking a bulldozer. She won
Whitewing is deaf
Jessy is a genius inventor who created a mobility device for Briarlight that allowed her to, for the first time since the accident, safely stroll around outside of camp without risk of injury. It was LIFECHANGING
Firestar can't taste sweetness because Clan cats have a "sweetness tolerance" gene, like lactose tolerance
There I hope that's enough trivia to satiate you for now lmao

I would do it before Swiftpaw dies, having Goldenflower and her younger kits leave. Maybe have her try to convince Swiftpaw to come too, but he Stays, maybe denouncing her as a Traitor, too? Idk. Something about Swift pulling a move like Longtail does to Tigerstar seems sweet. Maybe have him tell her he'll prove to Thunderclan that he's different, he better than her and his dad. (If you go by Tigerstar is his dad theory) I think Fireheart could bully the surviving elders into helping him give Swift a warriors funeral. Maybe have Fire beg Starclan to accept Swift as a full warrior, just flat out pleading and when he gains his lives Swiftlight gives him a life. Also, it could give you a scene during the escape of Misty, Feather, and Storm where Goldenflower asks Firestar about Swift, and Fire let's his warrior name slip.
Or...Swift could survive the dog attack, (and this is going on the theory that Swiftpaw is Tigerkin) and the other clans think he's dead, but Cloud has pushed both bright and Swift on and all three cats sort of become under Longtail's mentorship. But during this time, Goldenflower has found out there's rabid dogs that her mate sent into her clans home, that she still has kin in, her brother's kits, are in danger, and she knows Fire is doing his best, but I can see Goldenflower sneaking out and go spy on thunderclan, and the night she gets there, is the one where they bring Swift and bright back from the attack. They're still alive, and Cinder saves them both. But Goldenflower leaves before she hears that they're going to live, so she walks back to Riverclan, utterly heartbroken. How can she tell her kits their big brother is dead? Dead because of his father...
And then that disastrous gathering happens, and Firestar announcement happens but..he also adds "Thunderclan has 2 new warriors tonight. Brightheart, and Swifthawk! And Goldenflower gets to see her boy, her oldest son, and she sees the damage Tigerstar has done to him, and it makes her angry.
This ask was... a lot and I've laready shared pretty much all of my Swiftpaw-related thoughts on the last ask. BUT I have to say I love the thought in this one that he could survive and be hailed as a warrior at a gathering and it would fuel Goldenflower's seething rage towards Tigerstar. That's one AU change I'll keep in consideration.

For me. My idea for Brightheart’s voice would be Erica Lindbeck. (Particularly as Misty Olszewski from Cyberpunk 2077, feel free to listen to some clips with her voice for reference)
I really like this!

Sudden Misty AU thought because a thing just clicked wr2 the thing you mentioned about Catholic confirmation names and such. Is it at all common to like. Pick a prefix based on birth saint and a suffix based on confirmation saint? Since you've said the two-part name system is like a US thing in this AU, are there even enough saints for a custom like that to develop? I myself wasn't named for my birth saint and due to my affinity for the saint I was named after, I saw no need to pick a confirmation saint/name. So I know it would be far from a universal Catholic custom but still it strikes me as an interesting possible development from the worldbuiding as established.
hmm okay so i reached out to one of my friends who is catholic and does have a confirmation name for her opinions, so i'm mostly going to regurgitate her thoughts and add in warriors relevant content.
aaaaaalright so she said where she's from naming people after saints isn't super common but that it's a regional thing so -- uh. not sure what to take out of that, again, just going through things here.
(she also mentioned dates of birth/saints on days? it's late but hopefully i'm conveying the thing well. i know what i'm saying i'm not sure if it's making sense.)
and then okay -- so. before i get into what are saints called, she brought up something really interesting that you can have more conceptual prefixes/suffixes. she uses st. anthony and lost- or found- which is actually really intersting and has me thinking about brightheart now? like oohh brightheart getting hurt and. the name change thing doesn't really make sense in this but y'know. just a loose thought.
so. my general statement is: wrt prefixes, it's about as common as it is in this world, so that means it depends on area, language, religiosity, etc. but there's the added note that for saints who don't necessarily fit this system, you might go like...into more. representative ideas. you'd be more qualified than i to develop that, frankly.
wrt suffixes, it Also depends, but i'd say...it's reasonably common. it depends on family naming traditions, who's actually picking the suffix, and how everyone feels about it, but i would say that it is fairly common. depending on saint names, you might even have two options, since some words are prefixes and suffixes.
now, as for saints: so i said us because i was talking about firestar's family; i'm not 100% sure how this is spread across the world because thus far it hasn't mattered beyond "nutmeg, princess, and rusty are immigrants to the us and bluestar/frostfur rename rusty to firepaw to fit in/as a sign of acceptance." however it would, necessarily, have to have more history than just the us. without changing large swaths of us history, that means it is either a tradition among puritans, or the english as a whole.
(it is way too late for me to do anything more nuanced wrt us history than that statement. yes, i know there were other colonies and look i'm from new england, we are very obsessed with puritans over here. everyone i know from here has had multiple field trips to puritan towns that involve churning butter. don't at me.)
while i think, given puritan names, that it being a puritan thing that catches on is totally possible, i think it makes more sense and raises less questions if it's a broader european thing. now, i don't think it's tied to christianity here, not just because as soon as i say that it is someone is going to ask me what jesus' name is and i am not doing that, but also because then that raises questions about latin american colonies and then we circle back around to nutmeg & co and while there are solutions to that problem, they are solutions that i am not qualified to write and this au is fun (for me to write) + the occasional jaunt into worldbuilding which means that i'm not going to do that for this.
so.
since nutmeg & co are latino, i need it to not be tied to christianity lest i raise other issues, meaning...urghhh my history is not strong enough for this. for now let's say it's an anglo-saxon thing, and it is not wiped out in the norman invasion, but there is a class structure thing going on.
colonists in the us mostly had the two part names, and that eventually became the norm, and then the legal standard. (i.e., you have to name your child like that on a birth certificate. yes, that is fucked up.) in england, it's a lot more mixed. two part names are definitely the norm, but there are...urgh no i do not know enough to make a comment on british class structure. i'll leave it at, "the royal family probably has 'old style' names," where old style is like...a singular first name + a patronymic/matronymic surname.
so for example, jane doe's son john would be john janeson. or what have you.
(it's the icelandic system, in full.)
as for the rest of europe...for some reason i'm thinking germany is two part names. everywhere else i'm not sure.
that all said, two part names are definitely...well okay they're associated with english (even tho i think they would work in other languages, depending, here), so like. okay i assume. in like. middle school we all had to pick out spanish names except for me and alejandra and so on and i assume that's not a unique experience. and like you'd have kids picking a prefix. that's kinda cute.
we're not going to think about the number of cat words that are involved and how weird that would be, okay?
uhhh SO all of that is to say, while there would certainly be fewer saints to choose from, i think there would PROBABLY still be enough for it to work. i mean, hell, how many irish catholics are named mary?
(you do have the downside of not having a middle name to resort to for clarity and no i haven't figured out how that's resolved yet because saying...uh...fuck. um. say you had. hold on. it'll come to me.
okay whitetail and whiteclaw were apprentices at the same time in canon so say you had them in an elementary school, saying whitepaw, son of sunfish & whitepaw, daugher of [she doesn't have any canon parents], is super clunky. and i don't think saying whitepaw s would make sense if you didn't have surnames.
hm. i'm going to have to consider this because there's really no obvious resolution, at least in my mind. the floor is open to suggestions if anyone has any.)
okay yeah i think i answered your question and i would like to finish with this quote from her texts:
1. Absolutely insane to me that Mothwing has been established as Catholic, suffering from eldritch madness induced by this detail as we speak

warrior cats rewrite: the darkest hour
finally!
- in the prologue, we are back at the prologue of the first book- smudge and rusty, as kits, being watched over by henry.
- one of them inquisitively asks henry what would they do if they were ever caught up in the war of the stars that happens every few hundred moons. what would happen? where would they go? what would they do?
- know that whatever happens, you were, you are, and you will always be loved, responds henry.
- back in the present. firestar gets his nine lives from redtail, gorseleap, runningwind, swiftpaw, brindleface, speckletail, cinderfur, yellowfang and bluestar
- firestar appoints lionheart as deputy. it’s noted that they feel as though someone is watching the camp
- next day turns out someone IS watching- darkstripe has poisoned willowpelt’s kit, but was stopped at the border by graystripe. darkstripe is furious at sorrelkit bc he views her as a ‘replacement’ for him and gray, but gray views it otherwise. well also find out gray and silver are now amicable exes. darkstripe, badly wounded, leaves
- lostface is officially renamed brightheart as in canon.
- gathering happens, and scourge appears instead of an official riverclan or shadowclan leader- apparently, both now face infighting over who the next leader will be. tawnypaw is drawn towards shadowclan and feels pity for them.
- scourge announces that he wants the forests for bloodclan- supposedly for their safety, but he and fire know that it’s Personal. he announces that he has taken riverclan and shadowclan’s land for bloodclan and will get to work on wind and fire Soon.
- firestar sees the roaring lion in his reflection in the moonlight. he hears a voice- take heed of what you have seen. know what you must be.
- graystripe rushes over later after the gathering and pleads for help. they go over to riverclan and find out that scourge has taken hold of featherpaw, stormpaw, silverstream, leopardfur, mistyfoot, and stonefur. scourge is holding up the latter three bc they worked with tiger, and feather storm and silver because they are crookedstar’s kin and likely candidates to challenge him as they’re familiar with leadership.
- naturally a fight erupts as the 6 try to escape. silverstream is killed fighting to her last breath. stonefur, knowing what he must do, distracts the bloodclan guards so misty and leopard can escape with feather and storm. he manages to take out one of the bloodclan guards but is quickly killed afterwards
- the riverclan cats take shelter in camp. tawnypaw leaves for shadowclan because it is one of the two clans her father’s legacy has not touched and she wants a fresh start.
- we also find out that bloodclan is attacking windclan.
- next day, firestar and scourge agree to meet. scourge gives the clan cats three days to leave or fight him at fourtrees, and expresses his anger at firestar. everyone else is like wait these 2 KNOW each other!?! firestar feels grief at what smudge has become. he also notices darkstripe among bloodclan.
- the clan cats start training- thunderclan and riverclan together and windclan and shadowclan together. firestar realizes scourge’s weakness- he does not know of the strategy and discipline the clan cats have, which he regards with an odd pity.
- eventually, the four clans join together and dub themselves lionclan. leopardfur is tasked with riverclan (the position is originally given to mistyfoot but she declines), having had her Character Arc. flintfang of shadowclan is given leadership duties. tallstar naturally leads windclan.
- the cats choose to have firestar at the front of the battle- both because he knows scourge and the bloodclan cats (his once-weakness has become his greatest asset) and because they begin to realize he is the newest incarnation of the fire that will lead the clans through the future war of starclan.
- the cats leave for fourtrees for the battle. lionheart thinks he will die in the battle.
- firestar gives scourge one last chance to give up and leave in peace. scourge doesn’t. the fight begins
- darkstripe tries to attack firestar, but longtail and graystripe kill him. firestar regards darkstripe with an odd sense of pity, remembering what darkstripe once had been
- lionheart is killed by bone. firestar appoints longtail as deputy.
- it’s noted bloodclan attacks by climbing up trees and launching themselves down
- tallstar loses a couple of lives. it’s mentioned mudclaw fights with tears in his eyes alongside his mother morningflower, and they chant gorsetail’s name over and over. firestar does not see onewhisker but knows onewhisker must be in there somewhere.
- goldenflower is killed saving kits.
- ravenwing is nearly killed when scourge attacks him, but firestar intervenes and takes on scourge for himself. the two fight brutally, and firestar realizes that he can take scourge by surprise by using his nine lives. purposely, he lets scourge kill him.
- fire wakes in starclan, and sees his first life join their ranks. he sees stonefur, silverstream, goldenflower, and lionheart in starclan’s ranks, and they tell him that there were five clans in the forest.
- what do you mean, asks firestar, there’s five? look to your attackers. do you not see how they climb? they were your kin once, just as smudge was. embrace what you will find in their shadows.
- firestar doesn’t know what they mean, and wakes up. he sees scourge attacking graystripe and throws himself at scourge. the two continue fighting, but scourge is discombobulated. firestar rips apart scourge’s collar and slashes his neck open.
- the battle slows to a stop as cats realize what’s happening. scourge- no, smudge-’s breaths grow tiny and light. he becomes delirious- or perhaps comforted by starclan?- as he dies, and his pale eyes suddenly become dark blue and speckled with light. rusty, he asks firestar, do you see the falling star? beyond the fence, near those four tallest oak trees.
- i do, responds firestar, still too attached to smudge to let him die alone.
- the trees. they’re on fire now. and you’re there, and your friends are there, and your children and grandchildren... they’re all there. but it’s okay, everything’s okay. ...rusty, did we do alright, for a couple of kittypets?
- we did just fine, says firestar. you were, you are, and will always be loved. that is how it always has been...
- smudge dies, bloodclan leaves, and the clan becomes four again.
- firestar returns to the spot on the fence where the series began, carefully in the early morning so his former owners do not recognize him. he sees they have a new housecat now- life goes on. he thinks of all who he had initially met, that first night in the woods- graystripe was in another clan now, tigerclaw and bluestar and the old way of things was dead... but there was something new in the horizon, and firestar remembers how he had been told of the comet that signaled his arrival. perhaps only now was it truly coming to fruition.
- he buries smudge just beyond the fence, where the tulips were beginning to sprout. he looks at the sky and knows what must be. there will be a war of the stars, and all he can do is embrace that. for that is how it always has been...
- the dawn, he notes, had never looked brighter.

as much as i love squirrelflight. i HOPE they just take all the firestar family out of leadership. please. give us something fresh
thats valid! i think we deserve squirrelstar because we are due some good female leaders, we should have had tawnystar, nightstar, squirrlestar along with misty and leafstar.. all the wemen we could have had..
BUT all in all
i dont think we should have had bramblestar at all sdjkgh
i truely think it woulda been just ok for brambleclaw to die in the big dark forest war tbh! could you imagine he died and we got hollystar instead...
BUT even more than that!!!
we should have have brightstar!! i trUELY believe over anything else that brightheart truly deserved and should have been firestar’s deputy  ideal situation: medicat lionblaze, warrior jayfeather, (maybe) deputy hollyleaf and leader brightstar

I tend to forget she’s the mother of Brightheart, Thornclaw, Brakenfur and Cinderpelt. And that all four of them are related. I really wanted to make her so misty like.

Mothpool AU Rambles - Omen of the Stars + Super Editions / Novellas
More of me rambling about the Mothpool AU, this time going through Omen of the Stars!
Two kits were born to the young queen Whitewing not long before Russetleaf fled to the tunnels.
One, a pale gray she-kit with white markings on her side and green eyes, was named Dovekit by the queen. The other, a gray-and-white tabby she-kit with blue eyes, was named Ivykit.
Once Russetleaf was presumed dead by the Clan, Dovekit started to know the names of cats who were from other Clans she’d never been to. She knew Flamepaw was a medicine cat apprentice before Littlecloud announced it at a Gathering, she knew who Mothwing was without having to be told, she knew Lynxcloud as well.
Anyways, the time comes for them to be apprenticed. Dovekit is apprenticed to Quailwing, while Ivykit is apprenticed to Cinderheart.
Dovepaw’s apprenticeship is difficult despite her enhanced senses. Quailwing spaces out a lot, as if distracted by something in the distance despite his blindness. Ivypaw on the other paw is great at hunting and fighting. She’s even more uncertain when an old gray she-cat with matted fur comes to her dreams and gives her a prophecy.
The russet leaf hasn’t truly left. It’s only descended deep, deep down. For now, look for the dove’s feathers that will rain down.
In her dreams, she sees starry cats and hears them whispering the same thing, over and over again. There will be three who will hold the power of the stars in their paws.
But she also sees dark, bloody cats with a strange mist surrounding them that make her feel sick to her stomach.
She just wants to have a dreamless night for once.
Eventually she tells the Clan about the beavers. Quailwing immediately knows. He never knew about Russetleaf’s power since she had it for such a little amount of time before leaving. He knows.
She tells him about her dreams. About the starry cats and the bloody, misty cats. Quailwing tells Firestar. He knows too.
Firestar sends them to get Lynxcloud from RiverClan. Lynxcloud has an apprentice, Hollowpaw, who desperately wants to go on the mission as well. But Rippletail and Petalfur say they should go in Lynxcloud’s stead. Mothwing dismisses their argument and says that all three of them can go and that Hollowpaw can be mentored by Icewing until they come back. He’s mad about this, but reluctantly accepts.
And so at the next Gathering, Firestar announces the news and Leopardstar announces that Lynxcloud, Petalfur and Rippletail are all going to represent RiverClan.
The cats from the other Clans include Oakfur, Tigerpaw and Toadfoot from ShadowClan and Sedgewhisker and Whitetail from WindClan. After getting some herbs from their medicine cats (in Quailwing and Dovepaw’s case, Brightheart, who’s in charge of medicine cat duties until further notice), the group sets off and that goes about as normal.
Unlike in the original book, we get Ivypaw chapters instead of Quailwing chapters. Dovepaw apparently getting a dream from StarClan does make her feel a bit jealous, but she’s a great fighter and hunter so it doesn’t bother her too much. Note that while Poppyfrost does go to the Moonpool, Breezepelt doesn’t attack her because he actually has a father who cares for him.
During the fight against the beavers, Dovepaw sees Tigerpaw use his Dark Forest moves and is intrigued. The two become relatively close on the journey back.
Once they get back to the Clans, Dovepaw sees how great at everything Ivypaw’s been. Yes, she has a connection to StarClan, but she’s... jealous. And uncertain about everything. Shouldn’t Russetleaf, Quailwing and Lynxcloud’s sister, be the third cat? Was she? Did StarClan change their destinies after Russetleaf’s presumed death?
The Dark Forest can finally get into her dreams and bring her somewhere StarClan can’t reach. Hawkfrost first comes to her in a flowery field. He says he wants to teach her how to control her powers and how to be a great warrior. She believes him. She wants her Clan to believe in her not because of her power, but because of her.
Now let’s go to RiverClan. Lynxcloud and Willowshine are still dating, though Willowshine’s had to spend less and less time with Lynxcloud due to Mothwing’s de-promotion. This saddens Lynxcloud. The Dark Forest tries to manipulate him, but he’s aware of their tricks already. Instead, he goes to the ThunderClan border, where Quailwing and a few other cats (Berrynose, Cinderheart, Ivypaw and Dovepaw) find him. He explains he wishes to meet with Firestar. Quailwing agrees. Cinderheart, who knows about the prophecy from Russetleaf, is less confused then the other cats... but still confused.
Quailwing brings Lynxcloud to Firestar’s den, surprised when Firestar requests that he and Dovepaw come too, but they do as he says. They talk to Firestar about the prophecy for a bit, and Dovepaw is even more uncertain when she hears about Firestar’s last notable interaction with Russetleaf.
“I remember what happened not long before Russetleaf left,” the leader mewed, “I was talking to Brambleclaw about patrols, when Russetleaf entered, asking to talk to me in private. I assumed she’d received a prophecy, so I followed her. We went into the forest, where she asked me if I’d ever broken the warrior code. I suddenly felt... compelled to tell her everything. So I did. Once I was done, I felt like myself again. I think that was her using her power.”
Russetleaf was one of the Three. She was meant to be there instead of her. Dovepaw should’ve been a normal apprentice. Why couldn’t she be normal?
Training in the Dark Forest makes her feel... important. A StarClan cat is choosing to train her of all cats. But slowly, as the Dark Forest gets more of a hold on her, the scenery in her dreams changes to be more eerie.
At first there’s just blood red and dark mist slowly forming, like the ones the dark cats from her older dreams had.
Then the flowery field starts to turn into a misty, muddy forest. Dovepaw doesn’t know what’s happening. But she doesn’t stop going. She can’t, not when she’s not even done with her training yet. So she continues going to the Dark Forest.
Ivypaw notices her sister acting... odd. She asks her about it, but Dovepaw simply says that she’s focusing really hard on her training. She keeps waking up with bloodied fur, so much so that it can’t be from thorns in her nest like she insists it is. Ivypaw doesn’t know what to do, so she tells Quailwing and Cinderheart, who both promise to keep a close eye on her. Note that here, Cinderheart knows about Quailwing’s power due to them being close. Quailwing told her about the prophecy because he felt that she deserved to know.
Cinderheart suggests Quailwing walks in Dovepaw’s dreams. He doesn’t want to because he hasn’t used his power very much in this AU due to not being a medicine cat... and because Leafpool told Brightheart and Longtail about his power and they taught him about violation of privacy.
Anyways, the tree falls and Briarpaw breaks her spine and Longtail dies. Quailwing is devastated by the latter event.
Brightheart takes care of Briarpaw, though she struggles a bit due to not having been trained as a medicine cat. Quailwing and Squirrelflight go to ShadowClan to get Littlecloud’s help, and Flamepaw helps out as well, though he mainly just bonds with Dovepaw and Ivypaw, especially the latter.
Anyways, Briarpaw gets her warrior name of Briarlight, Blossompaw and Bumblepaw are named Blossomfall and Bumbleflight (name subject to change, I just think Bumblestripe is lame). Briarlight and Dovepaw end up getting really close... Blossomfall still gets jealous of her sister and when Dovepaw sees her in the Dark Forest, she decides to try to help their relationship because she doesn’t realize what she’s doing is bad - she just wants to be cared for by her Clanmates because of her, not because of a prophecy that she just so happens to be playing a part in.
I imagine that after their training sessions and before they wake up, Dovepaw and Blossomfall talk sometimes. At one point Hawkfrost joins in upon hearing them talk about their feelings, telling them how he came to be in the Dark Forest. It’s at this point that Dovepaw realizes that it’s wrong to be here...
Night Whispers starts with a Flamepaw chapter as he and Littlecloud go to the Moonpool and he gets his full name of Flametail before dreaming of a strange place... a dark misty forest. A dark brown tom with a red aura around his scars approaches him before he wakes up.
After this, Dovepaw goes to Quailwing and tells him everything. About the Dark Forest, about Hawkfrost, about Blossomfall... everything. At the next Gathering, he asks Dovepaw to tell Lynxcloud what she told him, and she does. Ivypaw and Tigerpaw (yes, Flamepaw got his warrior name first... don’t question it) eavesdrop and this helps Tigerpaw realize that mouse-dung, everyone is right about Tigerstar being evil. Ivypaw and her sister start to fix their bond.
I can’t decide if Flametail dies or not but if he doesn’t then like in Veil of Shadows with Shadowsight (and Squilf’s Hope with Squilf but that book isn’t canon-), he becomes a ghost and has to wait while his body heals from almost drowning.
Anyways in Sign of the Moon, Quailwing and Lynxcloud, alongside their apprentices, meet up to check out the tunnels. Dovepaw and Hollowpaw have gotten relatively close due to the Dark Forest and are both of their Clan’s respective spies (Lynxcloud asked Dovepaw to spread the news to as many Dark Forest trainees as possible - Hawkfrost and Tigerpaw helped out. They all decided to have Tigerpaw and Applefur spy for ShadowClan, Hollowpaw and Minnowtail spy for RiverClan, Harespring and Sunstrike (Me about Sunstrike: “I don’t know who you are but you’re pretty.”) spy for WindClan, and, of course, Dovepaw spy for ThunderClan... I’d have someone else spy with her but at the time she was like the only Dark Forest trainee in ThunderClan).
Hollowpaw and Dovepaw just hunt so Leopardstar doesn’t get mad while Lynxcloud and Quailwing block off the tunnels and end up finding a tuft of Russetleaf’s fur and realize that oh sheet, she’s alive.
Anyways they go back to their respective camps and Firestar decides that Dovepaw and Ivypaw should have their assessments, so they do and manage to both pass after a misadventure in the tunnels after Icecloud falls in. Dovepaw is named Doverain due to her friendliness and intelligence (had to look through a naming dictionary’s meanings for -splash, -pool, -creek and some others) and Ivypaw is named Ivypool due to her fierceiocity and strength in battle... her name’s more obvious.
Doverain, Foxleap, Squirrelflight and Quailwing all go to the mountains since Quailwing got a message from Half Moon saying that he had to go... the Three’s connection to StarClan is lessening due to some reason that no one knows the reasoning for. Hint hint, Dark Forest.
Quailwing possesses Quail’s Feather again because he wants to violate this dead cat’s privacy. Rock tells him to not violate Quail’s Feather’s privacy. He pretends to be deaf.
Anyways back at the lake Blossomfall and Ivypool end up in the tunnels and meet Fallen Leaves. After totally not Russetleaf leads them out Fallen Leaves won’t leave Ivypool alone. I had to make Ivypool’s character arc interesting, okay? She keeps getting dreams of the ancients and death and a battle... starry cats on one side and misty, dark cats on the other... a starry tortioseshell cat fading right from someone who she can only assume is Firestar’s grasp... she doesn’t know what they mean but they scare her and she just wants them to leave her alone.
In RiverClan Lynxcloud is having a crisis because StarClan is visiting his dreams and telling him that the Clans will have to stand divided and he’s just like “but,,, my bro’s in thunderclan” and they’re just like “sorry bruh” and leave. Willowshine’s also confused because she also keeps having these dreams and she’s pretty sure StarClan’s shipping them.
Back at the mountains, Quailwing comes back to the present and names Crag Where Eagles Nest the new Healer. Note that here just to make it make more sense, even if they are generally called Teller of Pointed Stones / Stoneteller, they are sometimes referred to by their old name, usually in dreams from the Tribe of Endless Hunting or by cats close to them.
After returning to the lake, Doverain finds that her powers have seemingly vanished. She doesn’t know how to feel about this. She vents about it to Ivypool, Blossomfall and Briarlight. She vents about everything to Ivypool, Blossomfall and Briarlight. How she feels like Ivypool was always better then her even though she had a power, how she felt like she was only cared about by Firestar and StarClan was because of her power, how she only felt at home in the Dark Forest, how she just wants Blossomfall to get along with Briarlight and be a happy family again, all of it. Blossomfall stays quiet while Briarlight and Ivypool comfort her.
Doverain notices that Blossomfall has stopped participating in training sessions, even when it’s just between the spies (Hollowpaw and Tigerpaw have since become Hollowflight and Tigerheart), a few others and Hawkfrost. When she asks about this, Blossomfall says that Doverain saying all that made her realize that she was being petty and that she’s been thinking.
Anyways, during a Gathering Doverain catches a glimpse of a cinnamon and red splotched and striped pelt through the trees. It looks exactly like...
Russetleaf.
Doverain had already had her suspicions that the torbie she-cat wasn’t actually dead due to the prophecy she’d received as a young apprentice, but seeing her was a whole ‘nother story.
Also I just now realized that I didn’t elaborate on Briarlight so here we go: after Doverain vents about all that to Blossom, Ivy and Briar, Blossomfall confronts Millie and tells her that “hey, you’re being really helicopter mom-like towards Briarlight, I don’t think she appreciates that, maybe stop and let her get out?”. She agrees so Briarlight gets out sometimes. While hunting on her own is still a bit challenging, she manages. She and her siblings go on their own hunting patrols sometimes and Bumble and Blossom scare prey towards her so she can catch it since pouncing and chasing it is... kind of out of the question. Also “[...] due to [Briarlight’s injury], she can never have kits”... w h a t ? I... hm... Kate... are you okay?
Anyways, Doverain goes on a walk in the middle of the night in order to think, and ends up coming across Russetleaf and her ghost boyfriend Fallen Leaves! She tries to convince Russetleaf to come back to the Clan...
“It’s nice talking to you Doverain,” Russetleaf mewed, smiling, “isn’t it, Fallen Leaves?”
The ghostly tom simply nodded, uncertainty in his eyes. “Er, Doverain, can you see me?”
“I can,” Doverain smiled at the ancient cat - what did Quailwing call his rank the other day? Softpaw? Yeah, Softpaw - as her tail whipped back and forth happily, “anyways Russetleaf... why don’t you come back to the Clan? If I can see Fallen Leaves, surely others can too! Or at least, Quailwing when he gets his visions and Lynxcloud... well, when he’s Lynxcloud,” she chuckled at herself.
The torbie looked to Fallen Leaves, uncertainty in her eyes as well. “Doverain... I can’t come back. I just can’t. I don’t want to cause more pain then I must... and then I already have.”
A puzzled look glazed the younger she-cat’s eyes. “What do you mean?”
Russetleaf sighed. “You know who Ashfur is... correct? Ferncloud’s brother, a brave warrior, formerly mates with Squirrelflight,” she speaks her foster mother’s name as if it’s a curse, though Doverain had heard from Quailwing and Lynxcloud had no trouble cursing, “him.”
“Yes, I do,” Doverain was confused, “why?”
“I... killed him.”
But she refuses.
She and Doverain keep meeting at night. It helps Doverain become more certain with herself. And eventually, she convinces Russetleaf to come back home.
She has a tearful reunion with Cinderheart and (somehow) manages to introduce Fallen Leaves to her, though given everyone else in the Clan’s looks they likely think they’re insane.
Seeing how happy Russetleaf looks being back with her brother and (albeit, foster) parents, and knowing that she isn’t going to get her powers back soon, Doverain wants to obstruct any connection with the prophecy.
Doverain smiled back at Russetleaf, Quailwing and the torbie’s mates as she pushed through the overgrowth and entered Firestar’s den.
“Doverain,” the tom purred, “you’ve proven yourself to be a great warrior, even beyond the prophecy. You’ve brought Russetleaf back to the Clan and have accomplished several other great feats. With that aside, what do you need?”
She paused. Did she want to do this? She wasn’t the third cat... did she have any involvement in the prophecy? Or was she just a temporary replacement?
She did want to do this.
“I... I want to change my name,” she mewed, “could you give me the proper ceremony for that? I understand if you think it’s silly or-”
Firestar cut her off. “I don’t think it’s silly at all Doverain. In fact, I’ll let you choose your new name when the time comes. I understand that you may not want to be connected to the prophecy any longer. I’ll host your ceremony right now, in fact. I already have something I need to announce anyways.”
And so, Firestar calls a Clan meeting. Cats still gossip about Cinderheart and all that, but after he shares the news of Sol...
“Before everyone leaves, I have something else I must do,” the leader announced just as cats were beginning to disperse, “Doverain, please come forward.”
The pale she-cat stepped forward, anxiety in her pelt. She heard a comforting whisper of “you got this” from Briarlight.
“Spirits of StarClan, you know every cat by name,” Firestar began. She gazed around camp, seeing a few confused yet supporting looks on cats’ faces. They know it from Brightheart. “I ask you now to take away the name from the cat you see before you, for it no longer stands for what she is. By my authority as Clan leader, and with the approval of our warrior ancestors, I give this cat a new name,” he jumped from the Highledge, looking to the currently nameless she-cat, “I give you the privilege to choose your own name.”
She paused, looking to her pelt. Pale gray... pale.
“I would like to be known as Palerain,” she mewed, hoping her trembling voice wasn’t obvious. Firestar nodded.
“By my authority as Clan leader, and with the approval of our warrior ancestors, I give this cat a new name,” he mewed, “from this moment onward, she shall be known as Palerain.”
The newly named Palerain felt as if a weight had been lifted off her chest. She no longer had the burden of a prophecy on her shoulder.
But she knew what was coming.
Now note that I’ve never fully read the Last Hope... I read like the first couple of chapters and then stopped cuz it was boring and I knew what was coming (I spoil myself about shit that happens in the books sometimes... I knew who died in it, I knew about the battle, etc, etc)... but I just used the cliffnotes for every other book here so who cares!
So like the first chapter of the original Last Hope (with the change of it being Palerain instead), Palerain is training her Dark Forest apprentices (Birchfall isn’t one of them because the idea of her training her dad in the Dark Forest weirds me out) and Tigerstar and Mapleshade come to tell the trainees to wake up and go back to their nests. The trainees (reluctantly) agree but Hawkfrost stops Palerain and the other spies (alongside a few others... Blossomfall and the other ThunderClan trainees are there since most of them have started doubting the Dark Forest’s claims of being good and StarClan being bad) and brings them to the Gray Area, AKA where cats who did do bad things but had good reasoning for it but did too much of a bad to go to StarClan go. This is the area where Palerain’s Dark Forest training first started, the flower field. Note that none of the Dark Forest cats except maybe Mapleshade (I feel like she might also be in the Gray Area but leans closer to StarClan) know that Hawkfrost is in the Gray Area and think that he’s just in Hell outright. Anyways, he talks to the spies about the other senior Dark Forest warriors’ plan... not the battle, but another.
You know how when Antpelt died he got hypnotized in a way to believe that the Dark Forest’s plans were right and to care about them more than his old Clan? Well Hawkfrost tells the trainees that Tigerstar and the other senior Dark Forest warriors are planning to kill the trainees while they’re in the Dark Forest so the same thing will happen to them. Anyways Quailwing comes and brings some StarClan cats to violate the trainees’ privacy because he learned nothing from his training (the cats he brings are Bluestar, Yellowfang, Spottedleaf, Whitestorm, Oakheart, Redtail, Leopardstar (she’s just there because she was Hawkfrost’s mentor), Half Moon and Cinderpelt - note that here Cinderpelt was more of an imaginary friend / guardian angel to Cinderheart and Cinderheart just had her memories for some reason... it’s based on this AU and a post by @/the-broken-code-rewrite).
The trainees make a plan to fight back when the Dark Forest cats attempt to kill them and Hawkfrost is just like “good luck ig i’ll help u get 2 starclan if u die”.
Anyways at the Moonpool Russetleaf has the same dreams Jayfeather has in the canon book (yes, she does get POVs) and she’s confused when she sees Mothwing there... Willowshine and Lynxcloud also tag along here. Russetleaf tells them they need to unite their Clans and Lynxcloud promises to tell Mistystar that.
Mistystar’s not having any of that.
“but ur half-thunderclan”
“yeah but if starclan’s telling willowshine that the clans need to stand divided then i’m going to listen to starclan”
“mistystar, ur my mom, i love you, but listen to the child”
“i’m an adult reedwhisker”
“sure u r bab”
“ur not even my dad”
“leopardstar nursed you and i acted like ur dad”
“shush”
Anyways Dark Forest shit happens. Palerain and the other spies are anticipating getting killed.
Brightheart announces she’s having babies and Russetleaf’s just like “brightheart... maybe wait”.
Skipping some shit/shuffling events around, the Three and Palerain discuss who they think the fourth cat might be.
Canidates: Lynxcloud and Russetleaf both think Cinderheart, Palerain thinks Ivypool. Quailwing doesn’t really have any ideas until Mothwing shows him and Russetleaf the flaming reed, after which he thinks Flametail. However, here, the reed itself wasn’t the omen. Instead the fact that despite steady rain it didn’t go out was the omen. Do you get it yet?
Anyways Dark Forest patrols. Only the Three, Palerain, Fallen Leaves (yes, he’s still awkwardly roaming ThunderClan), Cinderheart and the trainees can see them. Also like in the canon books Brokenstar slaughters Beetlewhisker. This is when the Dark Forest decides to attempt to kill the trainees. The spies and ThunderClan’s trainees fight back, and a few other trainees fight back too, but some of them (Redwillow... that seems to be about it canonically so it’s time for OCs! Cherrycloud and Leechfeather, both RiverClan cats) fight the “betrayers”. The spies and ThunderClan cats are escorted out by Hawkfrost and a few StarClan cats (mainly Goosefeather and Crookedstar) who know the way to the Dark Forest. Said StarClan cats fend off the Dark Forest cats and Redwillow while Hawkfrost and the spies / ThunderClanners escape to the Gray Area.
The ThunderClan trainees go on a patrol led by Palerain and find the spies and some of the other trainees by the island - Icewing, Hollowflight, Minnowtail, Harespring, Sunstrike, Furzepelt, Larkwing, Whiskernose, Ratscar, Applefur and Tigerheart. When asked where Redwillow is, Tigerheart explains that he woke up with lots of injuries and scars and is in the medicine cat den healing, and that he thinks that he swore loyalty to the Dark Forest and they killed him so he’d stay there. Icewing and the other RiverClan cats report the same for Leechfeather and Cherrycloud. Hawkfrost then appears because no one cares about privacy in this AU.
The Three and Palerain tell Leafpool, Mothwing, Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw about their destinies, blah blah blah, Lynxcloud accepts his destiny... and also tells them that he’s dating Willowshine and that he’s pretty sure she’s expecting his kits and Leafpool and Mothwing are just like “lynxcloud honey no” and Lynxcloud’s just like “lemme have a girlfriend”.
They’re not saying that about him dating Willowshine. They’re saying that about the kits.
Lynxcloud asks Willowshine if she’s cheating on him and she says that no, she’s not, she just wanted to have babies with him so she got Pebblefoot to sire some babs. Lynxcloud is both happy and realizes that she’s gon be in trouble but then Mistystar comes in like “yo i heard y’all talkin’ and i was already thinkin’ of givin’ mothwing her medicine cat position back and y’all have made me decide that maybe i should” and I don’t know why Mistystar’s Southern but anyways-
The medicine cats (Mothwing and Leafpool are there too because Brightheart’s struggling and Russetleaf’s like... a teenager) all decide they need to unite StarClan and Russetleaf tells them about the Dark Forest. Willowshine tells them she’s expecting kits and they all decide that that rule is pretty damn stupid so they should abolish it. Bluestar tells Russetleaf that Palerain’s the fourth cat and she’s like “y’know what that makes a lotta sense”. Russetleaf invades her privacy and hears Bluestar say this and tells Palerain and then brings the medicine cats to the Dark Forest to watch a training session. Palerain and most of the trainees are in the Gray Area with Hawkfrost while Redwillow, Leechfeather and Cherrycloud are all training for the battle.
Quailwing somehow gets to the Gay (I’m keeping that) Area and the medicine cats conspire there, all agreeing that they need to get their leaders to meet at the island.
Firestar brings Russetleaf, Quailwing and Palerain to the island (Palerain didn’t want to go but Firestar doesn’t know she doesn’t have her power anymore) and Lynxcloud comes with Mistystar. The Three reveal their powers to the Clans.
Russetleaf’s truth revealing/hypnosis, Lynxcloud’s inability to be hurt in battle, and Quailwing’s invasion of privacy.
The leaders decide to send patrols at each camp at dusk to prepare for the upcoming battle, and they decide to have reinforcements - cats who will send news to other Clans (I’m copy-pasting stuff from the Wiki now).
Palerain turns down Tigerheart with the reasoning of “i’m gay, ur gay, go marry bumbleflight”. Tigerheart is just like “wait i’m gay” and leaves to contemplate his sexuality.
Firestar tells the Clan about the Dark Forest and battle plans and stuff and Russetleaf talks to Cinderheart and they decide to be gay together. Fallen Leaves is there too.
“ily russetleaf”
“ily 2 fallen leaves”
“... hi i’m here 2″
“ily cinderheart”
“ily 2 russetleaf”
“but...”
“we can be polyam”
“that sounds gucci”
The battle happens. Hawkfrost starts fighting on the side of the Dark Forest before he, Snowtuft and Thistleclaw “ambush” Palerain, after which he fights on the side of the Clans. Russetleaf almost dies but doesn’t.
Palerain sacrifices herself in order to save her sister from almost getting killed. However, due to her former unstable powers, her spirit simply gets disconnected from her body.
Spottedleaf double dies.
Firestar still dies, Brambleclaw becomes leader and appoints Cinderheart as deputy. Leafpool gets her medicine cat position back.
Let’s quickly quickfire through post-OotS pre-AVoS Super Editions / novellas in chronological order.
Dovewing’s Silence
Palerain gets back to her body after having some strange dreams. That’s basically it. I don’t remember this book. Foxleap and Icecloud don’t die. Hazeltail doesn’t either. Basically no one dies.
Crowfeather’s Trial
Instead called Crowfeather’s Peace as he comes to a peace with his past “relationship” with Feathertail and reflects on his relationship with Nightcloud. The first half of it takes place with him as Crowpaw during the journey to the Sun-drown Place while the second half of it takes place a bit before Po3 but after TNP, around the same time as Leafpool’s Wish, as he and Nightcloud become close and eventually have Breezepelt.
Bramblestar’s Storm
This book’s about the same.

Mistystar, Swiftpaw, or Heathertail?
Mistystar
She was good up until she went back to RiverClan after Darkest Hour. Then I lost all respect for her and the story proved that I was right to. Why would you go back to the group that stood by and watched as your brother died? As you almost died? As your apprentices, the closest thing to family you have left, almost died?
She's too good for them.
And then she just got worse. We don't see much of RiverClan but what I do remember is that she had and apparently lost a litter of kits, of which Reedwhisker is the only survivor. Ouch.
She rejected Mothwing as a medicine cat multiple times, she wasn't Leopardstar's biggest supporter but it was good to see someone take the role of deputy seriously without struggling for it like Fireheart, Blackfoot, and Mudclaw did, in their own various ways.
Mistystar is where that all went wrong. Like, she's been through a lot. I really felt for her when she lost her Clan and camp to the kin. It sucked that RiverClan was put through trial after trial and she couldn't really do much about it. But casting out your own Clanmates is what got RiverClan in trouble the first time around. It's gotten ThunderClan and ShadowClan in trouble a lot too. Why would you do this? What takes you so long to make a decision? C'mon, Misty, please don't take after your mother that much!
Swiftpaw
Goldenflower's boy! Reckless boy, stupid mousebrained idiot. Good fighter, just wanted his warrior name. Deserved his warrior name but that wasn't the way to do it, buddy. The books made it seem like he always had something against Cloudtail, from the latter's kittypet origins to his training getting delayed while Cloudtail got to be a warrior. I often try to imagine how things would have changed if Ashpaw, Fernpaw, or Thornpaw had gone with him. Because I don't think Brightheart was in love with him. I think she didn't want him to get hurt and thought she could help. On top of the fact that she and Thornpaw were around his age and definitely deserved their warrior names. I wish he had lived but I can see why it happened the way it did.
Heathertail
Don't know a lot about her. She was ambitious and playful as shown by the tunnels with Lionblaze. She helped rescue the WindClan kits with the rest of the apprentice group. She's got to be something of a good liar. She saw something in Breezepelt, to have two litters with him. I read Crowfeather's book and I'm still not seeing it. She's... Okay, I guess. Don't like her, don't hate her. I used to ship Lion and Heather but she did well enough for herself, if she's happy.

10% left AU
So, i rolled for the 10% AU.
Thunderclan Survivors: Purdy, Daisy, Brightheart, Lilykit, Foxleap, Berrynose
Shadowclan Survivors: Grasskit, Stoatpaw, Tigerheart
Windclan Survivors: Sunstrike
Riverclan Survivors: Mistystar, Mothwing, Curlpaw, Perchkit
Missing: Briarlight, Krestleflight
Now, with this, i have a lot of ideas!
1) The Survivors split off to their own clans post-battle, more preoccupied with buring and mourning their dead.
Sunstrike was alone, and lost her right leg while defending the bodies. She managed to bury them, and made her way to Riverclan afterwards.
2) Mothwing and Mistystar are insanely protective of Curlpaw and Perchkit, and wen Sunstrike joins them, Mothwing is quick to try and treat her amputated leg, and the group ends up going to check on the other clans, in hope that they weren’t slaughtered.
3) Tigerheart is rather agressive, seeing Daisy while he’s out with Grasskit and Stoatpaw and immediately threatening her. He only stops after learning that she’s out looking for Briarlight and Seedkit. They end up confessing that both of their clans have been slaughtered, and the SC trio follow Daisy to the Thunderclan camp.
4) Brightheart is leading them, while taking care of Likykit and desperately trying to hold things together. She lables Berrynose her deputy, and attempts to return things to some sense of normalcy.
5) The Riverclan cats arrive at just the right time, because Foxleap got sick, and Brightheart ha only the bare minimum of medical training.
6) They all stick together, in a weird way. And in this AU, i think they find their way to the church cats. Now, is this just an excuse for me to draw the Survivors with the church cats? Yes, but also i think that everyone would end up.. getting comfortable there.
7) Relationships? They’re all pretty close, and Curlpaw and Perchkit think of Moth and Misty as their mothers. Tigerheart is like Grasskit’s big brother, and i think that Foxleap and Sunstrike end up together.
8) Most of them keep their names, but Grasskit, Perchkit, and Curlpaw change their names to Grass, Perch, and Curly, as those were their nicknames. Stoatpaw gained his warrior name, becoming Stoatfur like in canon.
9) about six moons later, Briarlight and Krestleflight were still ‘missing’, and after getting suggestions to find this group from some cats they were traveling with, they found the church. Sunstrike is so excited about them, and introduces them both to her and Foxleap’s kits, Thunder and Wind.
10) Overall, they’re happy. They miss being in a clan, and some of the cats start getting interested in their traditions, and some start asking to be trained. A lot of culture sharing happens, and they basically attend group therapy, and slowly work through everything.

I’ve been thinking about “the three grow up in different Clans” AU and I wanted to give my own take on it. So, here’s my ideas for how it might go.
(Disclaimer: I haven’t read po3 and oots in forever, so my timelines and information etc. etc. might be totally off. Also, I’m keeping the three’s names the same, with some ideas of what they could be otherwise. And I’m not taking cat genetics into account when it comes to pelt colours.)
First off: Hollyleaf, who is a WindClan cat. She is Nightcloud and Crowfeather’s daughter, and Breezepelt’s brother. Crow doesn’t have a fling with Leaf, and tries to love Night but is still grieving for Feathertail. Instead having a black pelt like the rest of her family, she’s more of a mottled lighter grey, and looks kind of like Feather. Because of this, Crow absolutely dotes on her, and is sometimes convinced that Feather’s spirit lives on in Holly. Just like in the canon, Holly abides strictly to the warrior code, and believes there is no higher honour than serving her Clan. She and Heatherkit/paw/tail are very good friends. Breeze, however, hates Holly, since Crow rarely ever spends time with him because he’s always with Holly. Night still loves her daughter but grows colder towards Crow because he pays no attention to Breeze. I haven’t thought too much of what Holly’s power could be, but I thought if she were to have one it could be the power of suggestion. It’s not like she can control cat’s minds, but along with being very loyal she’s an extremely good speaker, and is good at convincing cats to do what she wants. I don’t think Crow would name her Feather-, but he might request her warrior name be Hollyfeather or Hollytail.
Now, Jayfeather. Jay was born in RiverClan to Primroseheart (Mistyfoot/star’s daughter I’ve decided to not kill off) and Streamfoot (a tom I’ve made up because every Clan who isn’t ThunderClan has a pitiful number of cats.) Jay could or couldn’t have siblings, doesn’t affect the story either way (though it’d be cute if he had siblings who were really supportive of him.) Jay is a light-brown colour, not an important change but English jays are brown so. Jay is still born blind. Leopardstar doesn’t know what to do with him, and tries to convince Mothwing to take him as a second apprentice along with Willowpaw. Jay really doesn’t want to train as a medicine cat, as in the canon. Thankfully his mother and his uncle, Reed, and even Misty, are dedicated to helping him become a warrior. Reed is his mentor and during Jay’s first Gathering, Reed asks Brightheart if she could help train Jay. Bright is hesitant but agrees, and says Longtail might be able to help them too. Thus begins some occasional secret meetings between Bright, Reed, and Jay (sometimes Primrose and Misty tag along as well.) It takes him longer to become a warrior, but eventually he gets his warrior name. He has the same power, being able to walk in other cat’s dreams and see in his dreams. I really like the name Jaystep for him, but it could also be Jaysplash, Jaybright, or Jaypebble.
And now for Lionblaze. Lion is born to Tawnypelt, and has the build and face-shape of Tigerstar but looks like Goldenflower. In this version, Tigerheart doesn’t exist. We don’t need him. Lion quickly and easily proves himself a strong and eager warrior. He has a much stronger character than he does in canon po3. Lion is fiercely protective of his siblings, and wants ShadowClan to have a better reputation. He doesn’t like that they’re seen as secretive and manipulative, and believes his Clan is better than that. When he begins to realize he can’t be hurt in battle, he begins to wonder if he should reveal his power and use it to take over ShadowClan and rebuild it so it can reach its full potential. He never goes through with it, since he’s still a really sweet and loyal guy and just tries his best to fix ShadowClan as a warrior. Lion’s other names might be Lionclaw, Lionheart, or Lionstrike, but honestly I really like his canon name.
The three meet each other at Gatherings, speaking in passing but never becoming very good friends until later in their apprenticeship. By then, most of them have begun to notice their powers. All of them gradually notice that something is “off” with the other (Holly notices that Lion has no wounds, even though she knows Shadow and Thunder/River had a skirmish he was involved in; Jay notices that Holly can offhandedly tell a cat what to do and they’ll usually do it; Lion and Holly pick up that Jay knows more about cats and places than a blind cat should, etc.), until they all realize the other two are the two from the prophecy and confront each other (at this point the three have each separately overheard the prophecy and figured out that they’re one of the three. Also, the prophecy will have to be changed but I’m not sure what it would be.)
Somewhere along the line, the three are visited by StarClan, and get the prophecy about the fourth cat. Now, we get Dovewing. Dove’s story stays almost exactly the same, she’s born in ThunderClan to Whitewing and Birchfall, and Ivy is her sister. She and Ivy are exceptionally close. When they’re young apprentices, Dove mentions something about what’s happening in another Clan, and Ivy is shocked. Dove realizes not every cat can hear and see like she can, and becomes paranoid in keeping her secret. Ivy supports her however she can, and still loves her sister a lot, but is jealous of the ability she has. Hawkfrost still tricks her into training in the Dark Forest, but she soon picks up on the fact that this place is evil as hell. Ivy doesn’t tell Dove, but spies on her own, learning whatever she can about the Dark Forest and their plans. The three figure out from the prophecy that Dove is the fourth cat, confront her at a Gathering, and Dove admits that she does have special powers.
From there I imagine Ivy eventually tells Dove once she pieces together that the Dark Forest wants to attack the Clans (she listened in on the DF cats plotting multiple times,) Dove gets upset that Ivy never told her, Ivy feels bad but doesn’t really apologize, Dove tells the three that the DF exists and that Ivy’s been spying on them, the three tell Dove to tell Ivy she needs to keep spying on them and Dove lets Ivy in on the prophecy. Ivy gets upset at Dove for getting mad at her when she was keeping a secret when she was keeping one of her own, and nearly considers betraying the four to the DF, but she realizes that the DF is far too big a threat and that the four are the Clans' only hope.
I really want to further explore the idea of Holly being Night and Crow’s daughter and looking like Feather, and her relationship with Breezepelt because of it. She definitely kills him during the great battle, though, there’s no way Holly would let Breeze live after she finds out he’s with the DF. I like to imagine she kills him once he’s in the DF too, just as a final “fuck you.”
I think Holly would become leader after Onestar, and lead her Clan well for many, many moons before eventually dying peacefully of old age. Somewhere along the line Rowanclaw dies, and Tawny is made deputy. Blackstar dies sooner than he does in the series and Tawny becomes leader (and makes her son, Lion, deputy.) Lion may or may not become leader, depending on how much longer Tawny lives, but she makes a fantastic leader, as would Lion if he ever became one. During the great battle Bramble dies as well as Firestar, but Firestar lives a couple days after the battle ends, eventually succumbing to wounds, but appoints Ivypool the new deputy. Ivy also leads her well Clan for many seasons, and probably dies valiantly saving her Clan in battle. Since Ivy and Holly are leaders for pretty much the same time, ThunderClan and WindClan enjoy many seasons of (most of the time) peaceful coexistence. Jay has never aspired towards leader, but is always a voice of reason to whoever is leader at the time. He lives a quiet life snarking at his Clanmates, whom he loves dearly. Dovewing makes friends with some of the cats at Twolegplace, and a couple of seasons after the battle, tells Ivy she wants to leave to be a kittypet. Ivy is extremely surprised and almost disgusted that her sister would want to live a soft life, but she loves her nonetheless and visits her from time to time.
This is a pretty disjointed idea but I’ve never written any ideas/AUs for warriors and I wanted to try my hand at it. If anyone has any more ideas for this AU feel free to share!

Riverclan Tigerkin with Sandstar and Fire is Golden kin.
How is Golden going to react? I mean (I don't think in canon Bright's name change had happened yet, correct me if wrong) there's Sandstar, helping rescue Misty, Feather, Storm, with Greystripe and Greystripe tells Goldenflower "Hey, Firepaw's alright. He's taken the loss of Swiftpaw hard, but he's doing well."
How would she react?
I think by that time it'd happened, so Fireheart by then I suppose. Sandstar would've named him already and Brightheart would also be renamed. We may need to consider different suffixes for these two.
I like the idea Greystripe would be big mouthed enough to drop that little tidbit in the middle of a rescue operation. It's just about the worst moment to be saying that to her because immediately that opens the door to soooooo many followup questions. "What do you mean the loss of Swiftpaw? What happened to him? Why did he feel the need to do that? Why didn't any of you stop it?" and so on and so forth.
She'd be grief stricken at the news of course, but she also needs to know more details in order to gauge how concerned her reaction should be.
I personally think it'd be more interesting if the rescue mission leaves her and Bramble & Tawny stranded in RiverClan rather than also returning them to ThunderClan. But the idea she'd go with them and slow them down on the way back with all her questions all because Graystripe had such a big mouth very interesting and lowkey funny.
