“Mike should go... Hanji and I hold hands all the time, it wouldn’t work.” Nanaba suggests and Mike huffs. Levi already took his position as humanity’s strongest. And now his dignity is on the line as well. But orders are orders.

“What are they saying?” Erwin asks, peeking from outside the stables. Nanaba shushes him gently. Hanji and Mike are talking, and halfway through, Mike pulls them in for a hug. Hanji reciprocates with equal enthusiasm. After all it’s Hanji. Someone who obviously has lived their entire life with no concept of personal space.

“Oh he exceeded my expectations...” Erwin smiles. Levi is staring at the pair from where he’s brushing his horse, “oi! Mike! Four eyes! Don’t you have saddles to polish?” Levi nags. And Erwin watches as Hanji bounds over to Levi. Erwin’s initial pride dissipating as he shoots Mike a disappointed look.

A week has gone and there’s still no confession. Erwin has made an effort to spend more time with Hanji to get a reaction out of Levi to no avail. Nothing more than a little snide “you’re more of a weirdo than usual” from Levi. It’s massively affecting Erwin’s confidence. Just when he thinks all hope is lost, Nanaba caves.

“You know if you want to get a reaction out of Levi... You should just use Moblit...” she sighs, because there’s a dark cloud hanging atop Erwin and what had at first been worrying is now plain annoying.

There’s a spark that re-ignites in Erwin’s eyes and he heads off to find Moblit immediately.

“Moblit Berner.”

The man, made even more jittery by Erwin’s presence spins around and salutes. Erwin waves him off. There’s no time for formality.

“I need you to do something. It involves Hanji.”

“But...” Moblit is not one to complain, but dealing with Hanji and their experiments had been a 24/7 job and he needs this, he deserves this, “but it’s our day off.”

Erwin promises it won’t take long. If Nanaba’s estimates are accurate, it wouldn’t take any time at all. Erwin sends Moblit off with a pat on his shoulder, and the man is very confused as to why Mike and Nanaba are there too, let alone why this is in any sense, official business.

Moblit the Brave walks over to where Hanji and Levi are talking over tea and stale short bread.

He salutes the both of them, “what is it Moblit?” Levi asks. On any normal occasion, Moblit knows Levi to be kind, he can almost confidently say he likes Levi. Except when it comes to certain things. And Moblit isn’t one to disappoint.

“I was just wondering if um... Squad Leader would like to have dinner with me... In town...” Moblit takes a deep breath for strength. Levi’s eyes widen momentarily, his face then settles into a scowl. Before Hanji can answer, Levi barks a “Hanji’s busy.”

“You are. I’m taking you out to dinner.” Levi says, deadpan.

“Awww... Are you jealous Levi?” Hanji nudges at Levi’s side and Moblit turns to look at the trio for permission to leave because this is getting unbearable. Mike gestures for him to reconvene. He turns on his feet to leave. It’s not like the pair will notice him gone, not with Hanji teasing Levi about their date and Levi going absolutely red.

“Moblit Berner... You’ve done an incredible service to humanity. And for that we thank you.” Erwin says. Moblit wants to protest. He has a pretty impressive kill streak. Not to mention he has been considered for promotion on multiple occasions. He deserves all the karmic points.

“Do you think he’ll finally confess?” Mike asks, watching as Hanji torments Levi.

“I’m sure it got some cogs turning in Hanji’s head... Whether or not she’ll admit...” Nanaba answers.

Erwin counts this as a victory.

“We’ve been over this a million times!” Hange complained.

“Hanj, it’s confusing. Can’t you make an easier way of remembering?” Miche flipped through the packet of pages Hange passed out at the beginning of the meeting.

“It’s already an easy to use acronym.” Hange moved back to the board and pointed at the big ‘S’ written while Erwin rubbed his forehead. “S. What is ‘S’?”

Hange stood at the front and waited for one of the guys to raise their hands and answer. There really wasn’t much to this. It wasn’t a complicated concept, they even made an easy to remember acronym for them to follow, STARS. This most definitely wasn’t as difficult as when they had to learn Erwin’s Long-Distance Enemy Scouting Formation. Why couldn’t they get this?

“Levi.” Hange pointed. “What is ‘S’?”

“Subjugate.” He spoke matter-of-factly.

“No, no. The first ‘S’.” Hange corrected, moving to the board again to point at the first ‘S’ written.

“I don’t need anything other than subjugate.” He narrowed his eyes.

“This is a team formation! Erwin, please.” Hange turned to their commander. “Help me out here.”

“The first ‘S’ is swing, correct?” He frantically flipped through the pages in front of him.

“Nah dude,” Miche interrupted, “I think the second ‘S’ is swing. After we run.”

“Miche, I literally just said the second ‘S’ was subjugate. But great job on remembering ‘R’!” Hange clapped for him. “I will accept swing. Though the correct word is swoop.”

Hange turned back to the board and wrote ‘swoop’ under the first ‘S’. They took a deep breath and turned around.

“Anyone want to try for ‘T’? After we swoop, we…?” Hange waited for an answer. While Erwin continued looking for the answers in his packet, Levi took a sip from his tea. Hange turned to Miche to give him a hint. Moving their first finger in a spinning motion and mouthing ‘turn’ to him. He watched Hange closely to try and get it.

“Spin?”

“It’s a ‘T’ Miche.” Hange rubbed their temples. “It’s STARS, not SSARS.”

“I’m sorry, Hanj. I told you it was confusing for me.”

“I know. I know. Okay, let’s try this again.” Hange put the marker down and faced the group.

“Why do we need this method again?” Levi asked. “We already know how to kill titans.”

“This method has been tested and proven to increase support within a team when it comes to titan kills. We need to focus more on team kills and less on individual kills.” Hange explained. “My hope is to eventually use this method to capture a titan safely without any risks or fatalities.”

“Turn!” Erwin shouted and Hange’s eyes widened with excitement.

“That’s right!” Hange turned to the board and wrote turn under the ‘T’. “Swoop! Turn! What’s next?”

“Announce!” Erwin added. And Hange narrowed their eyes.

“Are you just reading from the packet I gave you?” Their voice became low and threatening. Erwin swallowed hard.

“No.” He closed the packet slowly.

“Alright!” Hange turned to the board and wrote announce under the ‘A’. “Swoop! Turn! Announce! What’s ‘R’? Miche!”

Miche jumped back in his chair, looking around the room nervously.

“Why are you picking on me?” He put his hand on his chest.

“Because you guessed it earlier, you idiot.” Levi stared at him.

“Ah, right! Thanks, little man.” Miche let out a sigh of relief and leaned forward, pretending to speak into a microphone. “The correct answer is ‘what is run?’”

“Great job!” Hange turned to the board again, writing run under ‘R’. “And finally, the last one, Levi?”

“Subjugate.”

“Correct!” Hange didn’t even turn around from the board. They wrote subjugate under the last ‘S’ and turned to face the men. “Swoop! Turn! Announce! Run! Subjugate! Great job guys! I really think we’re getting it.”

Hange looked at them and Miche and Erwin high fived. Hange knew that with a bit more practice, they would be able to use this technique in their sleep. They grabbed the eraser and erased the words under the letters.

“Again!” Hange leaned over the table, resting their hands on the edge and everyone groaned.

Is Suffering Stronger than Love? [ Erwin x Reader x Mike ]

PART 1

❤ You met them both in your hometown, the Survey Corps were doing diplomatic duties of the militia and Erwin and Mike were not yet in the higher ranks, but they already were very promising soldiers.

❤ Erwin and Mike met during their three years at the recruiting academy, being in the same generation of Nile. The three of them were at the top 5 of their generation, Mike being the first one. Nile expected them to join the Military Police with him, and he felt very betrayed after their entrance to the Scouting Legion.

❤ In fact their friendship was very important for Mike, Erwin and Nile. But at the end of the day they just had different perceptions and ambitions.

❤ Mike was ok with joining the military police, and his family was expecting a lot about him, not for nothing he was an amazing soldier, the stronger one (we must  remember that Levi being an Ackerman is another thing).

❤  Mike was just a natural. Erwin was rather the strategic type, but the most strategic one, being a natural leader.

❤ At the end of the day, Erwin of course joined the Scouting Legion, it was his lifetime plan. But somehow, he managed to drag Mike with him. In that time, he did not knew, but it happened because he showed Mike a new view, a new and unique and beautiful view, one greater that each of them, one greater than his own ambisions. One greater than humanity: freedom. And after all Mike cannot simply denied the call of a life with freedom. In the future Mike would always remember it as one of the things that made him respect and trust Erwin.

❤ Mike had all of the necesary to become the strongest soldier of humanity; and Erwin was perfilating himself as the next leader of the Scouting Legion and in fact as the best leader that humanity will see and the one who humanity needed the most. They were going to reformate the Legion and give a hope to humanity.

❤ And that's when they met you. A town girl with dreams and hopes stopped by the titans. A girl with no military training but with aims of liberty. And your lives just changed.

❤ You just wanted to help the soldiers, to gave some food and water to the ones who fighted for your life, gave them a little rest and a good time while the commanders were on endless meetings with the Garrison.

❤ After that, stop by your house became just an habit for  both Erwin and Mike. First was the kindness and then a strong friendship, by the time you realized there was already attraction between you and the two soldiers.  

❤ Of course they met you together being a duo passing time on the town waiting for his superiors. And you were everything they never thought they wanted and they were everything you could have wanted.

❤ Of course Mike thought you had the sweetest aroma. And Erwin thought you were the cutest. And for you... well, what a men they were!!

❤ But in the end, it was what was inside each of you that made the three of you yearn. Mike was a loyal and a kind man, and Erwin was simply the most committed to his job and an amazing person. You could not admire them any more. And they could not feel more affection for you ... it was never in their plans to like you or to like anyone ... but your sweetness and kindness, as well as the fact that you saw what was inside of them and supported them, made them to feel affection towards you

❤ They left weeks after, leaving you with an empty heart. Maybe they thought they could just manage to leave you there and came to see you once in a blue moon, after all they were fighting in the constant danger and they were planing to position themselves at the higher ranks of the Survey Corps.

Of course they still cared about you, they were warm and soft with you, you were the light of their eyes and they would protect you no matter what. No mater the far they were of you, you would never fight alone again, they somehow would help you in everything you need. You were more than a friend for them, but they didn't realize how much they wanted you, both of them, neither they realize that the other felt the same strong feelings for you.

❤ But they simply have no time nor will for a love affair. Their duty was the endless war against the titans and they just cannot distract themselves ... more of that, being  with you would represent puting you in danger, because the more they advanced on their military careers, the more they were on the sight of those who were against the Scoutting Legion.

❤ By the time you realized it, you already loved those men with all your strength. Yes, both. And what might have been a problem and a horrible and insane love triangle, for you was nothing but comfort and warmth in the midst of the loneliness and pain of your life. Maybe being able to love those two men, both, was the reward of so much pain.

❤ It was even better that they did not correspond to you, their dreams and their duty were more important than you and your mundane feelings. No matter what, you had the blessing of having them as friends and could not aspire to more happiness in life.

❤ You were just a girl and they were going to be the saviors of humanity. Everyone was clear about their role. For some reason they always saw for you; and so you would always support them.

❤ But things do not always go the way we want and we should not underestimate our feelings. Life is short, and if we have one so cruel we must live every moment before it is too late.

❤ You lived in the walls, locked up, in a village. And as if you were cattle, one day an epidemic began to attack your town.

❤ You tried to help people, Erwin and Mike were always fighting, going outside to try to free humanity from the titans. The least you could do was help to save lives inside of the walls.

❤ But inside of the walls the knowledge was poor, even more at your little town. Neither the people nor you knew about epidemics, about what contagion was and the easy that sickness can spread.

❤ In a few weeks you were sick and in bed, with the terror of the disease taking everything from you.

❤ Three days later Erwin and Mike arrived to your town, alerted by someone from the Garrison. They believed that they could get everything fighting, but they understood that if they lost you they would have nothing, that was a turning point on their lives.

❤ The pain of losing you, the loneliness in a world without you ... neither of them could bear that. They fought for freedom, but what else?

“We must save her, Erwin.” “I know.”

❤ Erwin, who was already positioned as the next Legion leader, managed to bring (with help and information from Keith Shadis) from Shiganshina a doctor to your village. It was as if Keith understood what his soldiers felt when he saw them, even before they did, so he decided to help them.

❤ You barely survived. And Erwin and Mike will never forget the pain of almost losing you, of almost losing the light of their lives.

❤ And that's when everything changed. When they realized they couldn't live in a world without you and that they coudln't just being away from you. They realized that the strong feeling they had was something biger and that they just wanted to spend everyday of their lives with you.

❤ They realized that you were a human, and that you could just disappear or... one day stay with another man... that one day your smiles and your kindness could be for  someone else. And that was something neither of them could just endure..

❤ Of course, if you wanted to spent a life with someone else (and they of course would understand, because to be honest who would want to be with a pair of idealistics who are risking their lives everyday, wich their work always here, taking a lot of them) they would accept it.

❤ But... the feeling of you with someone else. The worry of another man with you, of someone who would never being good enough for an awesome girl like you. More, the fear of some asshole playing with you... just trying to hurt you in some way...

It was just unbearable.

❤ ... They decided to try it with you, they wanted you more than their lives and they wanted to protect you and to be with you always. They knew you deserved more, that you deserved a man who would not run the constant risk of not coming home with you.

But the idea of losing you, of seeing you weak, but safe and sound in their arms ... had made them realize that they simply loved you ... and that for you  it was worth it to be selfish at least once in their lives.

❤ At that moment, they also realized they felt a lot of pain to think about you with another ... but that really, Erwin and Mike could accept that you decide to be with  the other. None of them were foolish and they had realized the feelings of the other, as well as the relationship that you maintained with both.

❤ They began to treat you with new intentions, and with this new treatment, with this warmth of be with you, all of this made them love you more and check the strength of their feelings. The same was for you.

❤ All they wanted was to protect you and make you happy. The only thing they wanted was always the best for you. They were totally in love with you.

❤ The disease had left you weak, but day by day you recovered. Being with Mike and Erwin would heal you, and they just wanted your good.

❤ Each day that they spent with you their relationship with you improved and your union became stronger.

❤ That's why something in their heart broke when they realized that although at the beginning everything was happiness with them, little by little something in you began to destroy itself...

❤ They courted you and they knew you liked them, that their affection was not displeasing to you. But there was something that simply wasn't right to you and that in a more unconscious way they also felt.

❤ With a painful passing of time they understood that the unconscious pressure they were putting on you was hurting you a lot: you had met them together, they had protected you together and the three of you had fallen in love together.

❤ It always was a together... and now, the simple idea of you losing one of them... of you choosing one of them... of you leaving one of them behind...

That would be unbearable. The sadness, the pain, and the loneliness would kill you. Their were both the love of your life. And although you would feel lucky to even have one of those wonderful men at your side .... your heart and your strength would not resist having to lose one of your loves.

❤ You felt selfish, but even if you wanted to, you could not bear to have to leave one. Your heart would die if you had to have your and one of them happiness  in exchange for the pain and resignation of the other.

And if you could ... you would give your soul so that they were happy and had the freedom that both fighted for. Because of their love and affection, you loved them more. And you knew that they were two wonderful men, who gave their lives for humanity and that is why they deserve the best ... If only you could make both of them happy ... you would die for them.

❤ They too had fallen in love with you, just like you they loved you more than their own lives. They could never hurt someone you loved. They could never bear to see you sad.

❤ It was because they loved you with all their strength, it was because they knew you, and it was because they just wanted to give you everything ... that they understood that if they really loved you they could not just snatch the other man you loved away from you and leave you broken and alone in exchange for you.

They loved you, and for that very reason they could not simply take your other love out of your live. That would hurt you, that would kill you and they, both of them, just wanted to heal you and made you the happiest woman ever.

❤ They were trying to understand your feelings. They respected each other, more than that they admired each other. They feel more than comfortable with the other near you. They loved you. And they trust each other. That's why they made their decision: they would give you the greatest happiness in the world, they would give you the love that would compensate for all the pain in your life.

❤ Erwin, being the natural leader he is, took the reins and spoke with Mike. Both accepted that they loved you, and that they wanted to give you everything.

❤ And so, as if life was easy, as if love had always been stronger than pain, Mike and Erwin proposed to you to be all three together. More than that, they proposed you to form a relationship by their side.

Suffering is strong, but love is more.

❤ That night, in the midst of tears of yours and love of those two men, the three souls proved what happiness is.

In the midst of caresses and warmth, these men comforted you and assured you that everything would be fine from now on, if all the three were.

They assured you that you were not selfish. And if with something so simple they could make you happy, they would. Who were they to take the other love out of your life.

"And who am I to have both?", you said.

"You are everything and you deserve everything", Mike answer.

"And If we are together we can have everything.", Erwin condlude.

"Can we?"... your insecurities would be a barrer...

"We can." But your men will always fight with you against it, against the world.

You had dinner together. And they spent that afternoon assuring themselves of the good things about their new relationship, how right that was.

❤ They loved you, you loved them ... and it's not as if Erwin and Mike disliked each other, maybe with the time they could both form something more between them, after all the love for you joined them and you were the one most important in their lives.

❤ Your love, and the freedom. They were clear on what to fight for in this life.

❤ "Everything will be fine from now on." Erwin told you with the force that characterizes him.

"You will never be alone." The serenity in Mike's face made you feel safe.

"We'll be together".

"Erwin... Mike..." Your eyes shined with so much hapiness. "Can we... make love?".

Because what does it matter if it was soon. You knew these men and you trusted them. You loved them. They loved you. And there was nothing you wanted more in life than to be with them.

You were safe with them. No one else could care for you or love you so much, nor could you love anyone but them.
