Old Moon and New Moon both exist in this AU. New Moon comes about after the equivilent of Old Moon giving up his life for KC happens where Merr Old Moon sacrifices a large chunk of his Star Fragment (An alien source of energy that all merr depend on to survive) to save KC from certain death

Solarmoon but they're fishes

They are based on koi fish <3 Solar is Moon's mate, of course. They both have many permanent scars, I created some lore for them:

Solar was raised with his own pod, but after his Sunny died, his Moonie became aggressive towards him and was kicked out of the pod. In the process he ended up with large wounds and scars because of Moonie. Luckily he was quickly found by Moon! A very curious mermaid that has led him to get into dangerous situations, hunter traps, fights with other mermaids, etc.

Buttttt lunar is a axolotl and vampire squid as moon type mers have the pattern of being part squid or octopus and I'd love to see what yalls guess will be as to who moon will be!

finally some more mermay shtick with my Bloodmoons! Enjoy the doodles!

Ooh, I don’t think I said it before, but each twin set is based off different fish! The separated ones are both sharks, a great white shark and an orca respectfully; the ones mostly in greyscale are deep sea fish, an angler and a Black Sea dragon; and the ones in the jacket are extremely poisonous, blue (technically red) ringed octopus and box jellyfish!

Mermay Day One: Lure

I barely made it for day one cause I spent a lot of today drawing references! But it’s here! (Currently 10 pm for me)

Time taken: 3 hours; 20 minutes

Fun fact! The most complicated part of this whole design is her hair! It’s meant to resemble a sort of cyclone/hurricane pattern! Just detailing all of the swirls took me half an hour 😭

Also secondary fun fact! I’ve decided to make this its own little au with lore so some of my entries for this month will have ✨Easter eggs✨ to my secret lore fjskdnfjdj Also should be mentioned that almost all of the mers are bio-mechanical to some degree

Sun cannot speak english because he gets distracted very easily and just can't find the motivation to learn on his own

Sun has the most human contact despite the fact that he cannot speak to people

The merr have their own language and Sun will often ask Moon to translate for him

Sun is the reason why he and Moon live so close to the surface because he likes to watch the sun rise in the morning

He glows much brighter than the other merr

Sun enjoys having his 'rays' played with, he also enjoys floating on his back while soaking up the sun

His star fragment, the star shape inside of the bright yellow orb, is warm and squishy
