In case you were confused, please be aware:

People of Color exist in Europe and other places outside of Africa, and always have. Even when you think they didn't, they did. It's called "traveling" and everyone did it. White people didn't have the monopoly on walking, riding beasts of burden, and using ships.

The predominancy of one race does not negate the presence of another. They're still very much there, and are entitled to be recognized.

Aztec jaguar warriors fend off an invading force of Malian cavalry from West Africa deep in the rainforests of Mesoamerica!

This of course never happened as far as we know, but the Malian Mansa (Emperor) Musa did claim that his predecessor, Muhammad ibn Qu, abdicated his throne to lead a fleet of 2,000 ships into the Atlantic Ocean, never to return. This anecdote has invited speculation that Mansa Muhammad and his expedition may have reached the New World, although evidence for such conjecture remains undiscovered as of yet. But if they had, a confrontation like this could totally have taken place afterward!

What connects the problem with these games and the designers behind them (and many other medieval-ish fantasy) is not just a misunderstanding of the European Middle Ages but also a deeper idea about the ways peoples and places actually work. Historically speaking, peoples were just not sealed off from each other. A hermetically-sealed population with no contact with the broader world is an anomaly. And even in places when peoples were less likely to move, things and ideas did.

Audrina: Father, would you have good news on that front?

Lord Ian: My dear unfortunately I have something different in mind for you.  You see, the king has requested a meeting between the Crown Prince Raymond and yourself.  

Lord Ian: And as he is the king, I am not able to decline. But I have made no promises to the king or the court. You would simply be meeting the prince.

Audrina: I understand father. I would not disgrace the Ellsworth name or dishonor the ruler of this land in such a way.

Audrina: I must ask though. I do think I am ready for more responsibility Father. Do you not agree? I know Arthur is telling everyone I don't belong at court and-

Lord Ian: My dear....this is a complicated subject. But I do plan to have you working the guild on Thursdays. But this change may take time.

Audrina: I am disappointed to hear this. But I understand that my sex makes things difficult. I don't mean to cause this. I would be happy to assist the guild however I can. Whenever it is deemed necessary.

Lord Ian: My dear Audrina, your understanding pleases me so. You are like your mother in so many ways. Strong, intelligent and bold. I never want you to lose that. This world is not ready for your strength.
